that we understand that.

That we are saved
by Grace through Faith.

Jesus came and gave His
life on the Cross of Calvary.

He died so that you

and I might be saved.

He died, He gave his life for us
and that's where our salvation

at how Jesus is
related to the Sabbath.

At Creation God instituted
the Sabbath and established it

of God's creative power.

God's intention is that the
Sabbath should be a blessing

And when Jesus came

What we find

Jesus came to Nazareth

synagogue to worship

this was Jesus'
first visit to Nazareth

since He left along early 27
to begin His earthly ministry

to visit

and he went into the synagogue.

It was His custom, meaning that
it was His habit, His practice

by the way that's all he knew.

When Jesus was a child He
often worshiped in the synagogue

often went there with
His parents and often had
00:05:47.50\00:05:50.57
the opportunity even
to read from the Law.

And from the vast knowledge
of the Word of God even

as a child He was able
to expound the Word to the

amazement of many
00:06:03.33\00:06:04.83
but it was Jesus' custom.

So we can begin here and notice
that Jesus, when He was on Earth

continued to worship
on the Holly Sabbath Day.

Even when He became an
adult even after He begun His

earthly ministry.

He continued worshipping on
the Sabbath, it was His custom.

There are several other
references in the Scripture

that strengthen Luke's
point that it was Jesus' custom

to worship on the Sabbath.

we find Him worshipping
in the synagogue at Capernaum

This is when Jesus has
made his first disciples

Peter, Andrew, James and John.

They followed Jesus, they
were the first disciples who

followed Jesus.

And on the first Sabbath, after
they begun to walk with Jesus

they went in the
synagogue at Capernaum

Here we have Jesus
worshipping on the Sabbath

at Capernaum and He is taking
part, He is leading in the
00:07:19.30\00:07:23.25
worship service as well.

Then in Mark chapter 6, verse 2

There's an other recorded
instance of Jesus worshipping

on the Sabbath.

This were His own people

who could not understand
how this young men who grew up

among them had become one with
such great authority and had

such wisdom.

Matthew records this

incident in Matthew chapter
13 and verse 54, but Matthew

makes no
reference to the Sabbath.

He simply says that Jesus
taught them in the synagogues

in the synagogues.

This is interesting
because in Matthew 4: 23

Matthew says Jesus
went about all Galilei

teaching in the synagogues.

Again he does not
mention the Sabbath.

to Jesus worshipping on Sabbath

taking part on the
worship service on Sabbath

conspiring to put Him to death

not handle his ministry.

Jesus, it is His custom
to worship on the Sabbath,

clearly, and many references in

the New Testament support
the fact that it was His custom

to worship on the Sabbath day.

During His earthly ministry

there are a number of
encounters recorded in counters

between Jesus and the Pharisees

when they accuse him of doing
things that were not lawful

And many people, scholars,
commentators, preachers,

have come to the conclusion

that Jesus somehow got rid
of the Sabbath, abolished it,

abrogated it, did
something, got rid of it,

He did on the Sabbath day.

We will take a look at some
of what Jesus did on the Sabbath

and see how he clarifies

and purpose of the Sabbath.

look at His authority,

the authority of Jesus.

How he astuted His authority
in this matter of the Sabbath

corn field with His disciples,

accused by the Pharisees.

In response to the accusation

Jesus recalled that what
David did when he handled

which was reserved only for

In so doing he taught us a
very important principle in

Sabbath observance.

He showed that reliving hunger
and attending to human suffering

the Lord, in the spirit of

The Sabbath must be a blessing
and not a burden to God's people

of the acts of healing

point, I think is very important

In all of the instances

Sabbath, whether when He allowed

He performed acts of healing
and compassion on the Sabbath.

In all of those scenarios,
or situations or cases

the Sabbath itself

Let us take a look at the
one we find in Mark, chapter 3

Very interesting encounter

On the Sabbath day

And, my friends, you
can look at this verse

and you will see that the
issue is not about the Sabbath

Or whether or not Jesus
is abolishing the Sabbath.

It is about what may or
may not be done on the Sabbath.

And Jesus was asking them

Is it good, is it a good thing
to do good in the Sabbath day?

So the problem here is
not whether or not the Sabbath

Jesus, it is His custom, it
is His lifestyle, as a matter

is His Sabbath when He says

Lord of the Sabbath.

Sabbath, Jesus is saying.

that the Romans were going to

and Jesus said pray,

but pray that it does
not happen in the Sabbath.

And you may not have to
flee and run on the Sabbath.

Because Jesus knows the
importance of the Sabbath

followers did not desecrate

give Him a decent burial.

the first day of the week
