Spiritualism and witchcraft and
demon possession are very much a

part of African culture.
One of the places that I enjoyed

preaching more than anything
else because you see the power

of God come down and the
miraculous deliverances from

demon possession and witchcraft
and the occult. You see that

very vividly in Africa. In
2018 my wife and I were holding

evangelistic meetings via
satellite across the continent

of Africa and we were
broadcasting from Mwanza,

Tanzania. Some Christian friends
brought a lady to our meetings

and as they brought this
particular woman, she had been

involved in some witchcraft.
She had been involved in some

demonic activities like offering
sacrifices to the gods, wearing

devil charms. But she came with
this terrible pain in her leg.

And the story that she told us
was this: That there was a witch

doctor in her city and this
witch doctor took a devil charm

and put it on a pathway and that
devil charm had a curse in it

and that anybody who stepped
on that devil charm would get

paralysis in their legs terrible
pain and burning sensation. So

this woman walking down the
pathway stepped on the devil

charm believing in the power of
Satan, believing in the power of

the evil one and for over eight
years had this terrible terrible

pain in her legs. They brought
her to every witch doctor in the

area. Ones that were more
powerful than the one that

supposedly put the devil charm
on the pathway. They brought her

to Christian churches
and apparently there was no

possibility of healing
this woman. They heard about our

meetings and they brought her.
Filled with pain, body wracked

with suffering and we gathered
our prayer group around and

began to pray earnestly for
the power of the living God to

deliver this woman, to give
her peace. Miraculously she was

healed. The pain subsided.
The demons left her. Eventually

she became a committed Christian
following the teachings of the

Bible. The Bible is very, very
clear on witchcraft, wizards,

because you see spiritualism
and witchcraft is not limited to

African society. It's the
subject of multimillion dollar

Hollywood productions in our
society. Spiritualism is rampant

today in the media. Blockbuster
movies, best-selling books have

all focused on this theme of
wizards and witches. If you look

at the book of Deuteronomy we
have clear instruction because

in the last days of earth's
history spiritualism will be

prevalent, it'll be rampant
again. Deuteronomy chapter 18

verse 10-12 God tells his people
not to mix the occult arts with

the worship of the true

Now let's look at that text

what it's saying. It says

This was an occult art. They

divination? It's fortune telling

observer of times. What's
the observer of times. That's an

astrologer. Not an astronomer.
Astronomy and astrology are two

study the stars. Astrologers try

And then it says or an enchanter

or a witch. An enchanter is a
psychic or a witch or a charmer

or a consulter with familiar
spirits or a wizard. Notice the

emphasis here on witches and
wizards or a necromancer. What's

a necromancer? It's one who
tries to communicate with the

dead. It says all these things
are an abomination to the Lord.

You say do we have these things
in our society today? A casual

look at Hollywood or reading
some of the best seller books

would indicate that. But let me
give you one example. It's the

example of the Harry Potter film
series and books. In 2018 sales

of Harry Potter's books. that
was just five years ago, went to

500 million, went beyond
that. In the United States Harry

Potter's The Goblet of Fire sold
three million copies the first

weekend. Harry and the Half
blood Prince sold 6.9 million

copies in 24 hours. It's
amazing! The Deathly Hollows,
00:07:51.57\00:07:57.67
the fastest selling fiction
book in history sold 8.3 million

copies in the first 24 hours.
That's 96 books a second. The

films have grossed well over
eight billion dollars. The vast
majority of young people

reading Harry Potter series. Now
many teachers praised the series
00:08:15.19\00:08:19.76
because of the fact that they
say it's getting kids to read.

And I will acknowledge that
this series is written to engage

one's attention. It's written in
a very fascinating way by J.K.
00:08:29.34\00:08:33.34
Rowling who wrote the series.
But are there some problems with

it? Now even some Christians see
very little wrong with the Harry
00:08:38.58\00:08:42.28
Potter series. They look at
it and they say well it has some
00:08:42.32\00:08:45.15
good moral values because it
teaches you unselfishness and
00:08:45.19\00:08:48.16
love. That's their view point.
But I think you've got three
00:08:48.19\00:08:51.16
major problems with that series.
At least three. Problem number
00:08:51.19\00:08:57.00
one: The Bible openly condemns
witches and wizards. You know
00:08:57.03\00:09:03.24
the story. Harry Potter goes
to the Hogwarts School, and he
00:09:03.27\00:09:07.51
learns wizardry and witchcraft.
And the whole series is about
00:09:07.54\00:09:12.11
witches and wizards. When
children get fascinated with
00:09:12.15\00:09:17.25
the witches and wizards the
second problem is it unfits them
00:09:17.29\00:09:22.66
to read the Bible and it opens
their mind to the supernatural

world to be deceived by the evil
one. So problem number one is

that witches and wizards
are an abomination to the Lord,

condemned by the Bible. Problem
number two: Reading fanciful

literature like this unfits
one to read the Bible. The Bible

then becomes more of a boring
book because one's mind has been

captured by another source. But
there's another problem, too,

and it's quite significant and
the problem is this. When you

read the Harry Potter novels
where a young person reads those

you do not read about the higher
power of God. You do not read

about the blood of Christ. You
do not read about the sacrifice

of Christ. So at best, at best
it's a humanistic view point of

so called love and unselfishness
and white magic. That's at best.

But there's something much worse
than that That's the captivation

of the mind by evil forces.
The Bible says we wrestle not

against flesh and blood,
but against evil forces in the

heavenly realms. And that's
truly what's taking place today.

The Bible predicts that in the
last days of earth's history the

minds of men and women will
be captured by spiritualistic

forces. I wonder. Could it be?
Might it be, is it possible that

Satan is conditioning the minds
of young people today. Could it

be possible that he's
conditioning the minds of

adults through movies that
feature spiritualistic themes.

witches Some of them may feature

Ghost Busters, for example, the

movie. Could it be that the
devil is conditioning the mind

to accept supernatural
deceptions that will lead the

world to ultimately the mark
of the beast in the last days of

earth's history and Armageddon.
Revelation, we're going to go

deeply into the book of
Revelation. Take your Bible and

turn to Revelation chapter 16.
Revelation chapter 16. Satan's

greatest deception is
to capture us through the

supernatural and to deceive
men and women regarding what is

coming upon the world. Because
the devil is going to palm off

the greatest supernatural so
called miracles of deception.

Revelation 16, we're looking
there at verse 14. And notice

how the book of Revelation
puts it. It's talking about the

Battle of Armageddon.
Verse 14 puts it this way.

Now this text says

they are the spirits of who? The
spirits of who, everybody. The

spirits of devils. And what do
these spirits of devils do? They

the earth and the whole world to

gather them to the battle of the
great day of God Almighty. And

what does Jesus say? He says
behold, I'm coming quickly, I'm

coming as a thief. Watch. Keep
your garment. Don't be deceived.

In other words, at a time of
crisis, of famine, fire, flood.

At a time of natural disasters
a time of war and conflict, at a

time of rising crime and
violence. When this world is

falling apart, the devil
works false miracles with the

supernatural powers that he has
he works signs and wonders to a

generation whose mind has
been conditioned to accept the

supernatural and wizards and
witches and false miracles. To

a generation that's been
conditioned to understand about

the communication with the dead.
To that generation, Satan palms

off amazing false
miracles. Apparently, the sick

are healed. It's false healing
of course. Apparently when those

signs and wonders take place,
in the sky, throughout society

And the devil says look if only
we could unite. If only we could

be together as one. The conflict
in this world would cease. Now

The scripture puts it this way.

So here you have a triple
triumvirate of error. You have

Babylon which represents
false religion. Babylon also

represents apostasy, drifting
away from God. Then you have the

kings of the earth, that's the
political leaders. So Babylon

the religious leaders, all false
religion. You have the political

leaders, that's the governmental
leaders. Then you have the

merchants of the earth. So did
you notice the merchants of the

earth joined them. So you
have the religious powers, the

political powers and the
financial powers. They unite but

why do they unite? Because
they've seen these supernatural

miracles, they've seen these
signs and wonders, minds have

been conditioned over
generations, but particularly in

this final generation and
particularly these last few

conditioned to accept the

supernatural and demonic worship
and devil worship and so forth.

And so when the devil
masquerades as Christ, as the

fallen angel of light. As
he does that he has power to

deceive. But there's something
about verse 4, that I wanted you

out of all false religion. But

how do According to the

religious organizations that are

transgression of God's law. So

God is calling us from every
law-breaking church. The devil

a counterfeit image all of gold

that counterfeited
of the genuine image in

with the head of gold,

the breast and arms
of silver, the thighs of

iron and clay. Remember the head

of gold represented Babylon,
another empire would follow,

Medo-Persia, another
empire would follow, Greece, and

another Rome. Nebuchadnezzar
would not accept God's

interpretation that his kingdom

of gold. Every citizen in the

kingdom was commanded to worship

Notice the relationship between

In these two verses. Isaiah 8

at spiritualism and the law of

The book of Isaiah, Isaiah
is speaking of the last days

of earth's history. Verse 19

Now notice that we read
about wizards, that we read

about witches, that we
read about spiritualism that God

condemned that in Deuteronomy.
He did. But did we read about

This spiritualistic phenomenon
in Revelation 16 and Revelation

18. Yes. And did we hear
the call to come out of these

law-breaking churches who are
not keeping God's commandments.

We did but notice here in Isaiah
chapter 8 it says that these

spiritualistic phenomena they're
going to try to lead you into

this confederacy. Unto the
law and to the testimony if they

don't speak according to this
word it's because there's what?

No light in them. Now notice
what it does not say. It does

because the devil has power.

because the devil mingles truth

more deceptive. It doesn't say

the devil can create a false

love. What does it say. It says

very important. Why does it say

that is to the word of God, the

testimony of scripture. To the
law of God. It says if you do

light. Why does it say no light?

Because light's what you follow.
Light illuminates the darkness.

So a church may have power, it
may have a sense of love, but if

people. Don't be deceived
because in the last days there

will be spiritualistic phenomena
that will be working miracles,

that'll sweep you off your very
feet. The first lie that the

devil gave in Genesis was about
this lie of spiritualism, this

lie about death. Genesis chapter

the third chapter, verses 1-4.
This is the lie the devil gave.

What indeed was
Satan's deception to Eve. Satan

masqueraded as a serpent. This
was a spiritualistic deception.

And you are not going to surely
die. He said you're naturally

immortal. He said if you
eat this fruit you'll have

immortality. Now the Bible
is very clear. It says when God

created man, he formed him,
Genesis 2 verse 7. He formed him

out of the dust of the ground
and breathed into his nostrils

the breath of life and man
became a living soul. The Bible

says that God breathed his
breath, the life-giving power of

of God and man became this
living being. When a person

dies, what happens. The life
goes back to God. The body goes

to the earth. It's the spirit
that goes back to God. But Bible

to God. The Bible used the word

soul 1600 times but never once
uses the term immortal soul.

What is the spirit that goes
back to God? It's the life God

thinks or feels. In fact, the

times for death. In the book of
