tragedy in the kingdom.

reigning, he was called,

good king, spirit-filled,

but Saul became
proud along the way

and he started drifting
further and further from God

until finally he was
basically demon-possessed.

And in a massive
battle with the Philistines,

Saul, seeing that he
was mortally wounded,

he asked his armor-bearer
if he would kill him.

The armor-bearer
was afraid to do it.

He had spent his whole
life protecting the king.

Philistines to capture him

Rather than just keep the crown,

That's the way it
used to work in antiquity,

he get rewarded for good news,

And so in light
of all these things

"He is the Lord's anointed."
