How are you doing? 00:00:41.44\00:00:42.41 Doing all right. 00:00:42.42\00:00:43.39 So, Dan, tell us a little bit about yourself. 00:00:43.40\00:00:44.37 Hello, my name is Daniel McGrath. 00:00:44.38\00:00:45.55 I'm a pastor in Upper Peninsula of Michigan. 00:00:45.56\00:00:48.60 And I just moved there, I love it, 00:00:48.61\00:00:50.08 and I'm glad to be here today. 00:00:50.09\00:00:53.00 And like you said, we have some 00:00:53.01\00:00:54.50 amazing topics coming up, 00:00:54.51\00:00:55.72 but today we're gonna be looking 00:00:55.73\00:00:57.18 at the subject of formalism. 00:00:57.19\00:00:59.70 There are many people today who struggle 00:00:59.71\00:01:01.40 with the vibrant Christian experience, 00:01:01.41\00:01:02.91 who want that, but don't have it. 00:01:02.92\00:01:05.16 And are just going through the motions, 00:01:05.17\00:01:07.12 and so we wanna tackle the issue from the Bible. 00:01:07.13\00:01:10.00 See what the Bible has to say about that, 00:01:10.01\00:01:11.30 is it really something that is acceptable 00:01:11.31\00:01:14.14 in our Christian experience or if it's there, 00:01:14.15\00:01:16.48 what do we have to do about it. 00:01:16.49\00:01:17.88 And Dan, I'm so happy that you addressed 00:01:17.89\00:01:20.25 that we're gonna look at what the Bible says. 00:01:20.26\00:01:22.15 See, in this program that's 00:01:22.16\00:01:23.21 what we're gonna dedicate the subject matter to be. 00:01:23.22\00:01:25.91 We're gonna look at the Bible and we're gonna see 00:01:25.92\00:01:27.66 that the Bible has answers to any subject 00:01:27.67\00:01:30.41 that you have in your experience, 00:01:30.42\00:01:31.59 anything that you're struggling with, 00:01:31.60\00:01:33.11 the Bible has guidance. 00:01:33.12\00:01:34.09 In fact, we're gonna begin 00:01:34.10\00:01:35.14 by going through the Bible itself. 00:01:35.15\00:01:36.91 We're gonna go to the New Testament to a book, 00:01:36.92\00:01:38.47 a very small book that we don't hear much about, 00:01:38.48\00:01:42.64 but that is focused primarily 00:01:42.65\00:01:45.41 on addressing issues facing young adults 00:01:45.42\00:01:48.39 and young people in many, many different walks of life. 00:01:48.40\00:01:50.84 We're gonna take a look at 00:01:50.85\00:01:51.82 Second Timothy Chapter 3. 00:01:51.83\00:01:53.45 And as you're turning there, as Dan's turning there, 00:01:53.46\00:01:55.29 I'm already there now, I beat you. 00:01:55.30\00:01:56.78 And those that are viewing are turning there. 00:01:56.79\00:01:59.39 We're gonna see that Timothy 00:01:59.40\00:02:01.97 is a particular letter written by Paul, 00:02:01.98\00:02:03.59 in fact Second Timothy was the last letter 00:02:03.60\00:02:06.13 that the Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, 00:02:06.14\00:02:08.03 and he was writing to Timothy, 00:02:08.04\00:02:09.18 who was a young person who was surrounded 00:02:09.19\00:02:11.67 by not the most spiritually edifying influences. 00:02:11.68\00:02:16.30 And yet, Timothy addresses a lots of the current 00:02:16.31\00:02:19.62 modern-day challenges that young people have. 00:02:19.63\00:02:21.67 So, we're gonna be focusing on Timothy 00:02:21.68\00:02:23.04 and the text we're gonna look is 00:02:23.05\00:02:24.46 Second Timothy Chapter 3 00:02:24.47\00:02:26.40 and we're gonna be looking at Verse 5. 00:02:26.41\00:02:28.59 Second Timothy 3:5, 00:02:28.60\00:02:30.19 the Apostle Paul is addressing a condition 00:02:30.20\00:02:33.88 that the world as in at that time and in Verse 5, 00:02:33.89\00:02:37.00 he says, "Having a form of godliness, 00:02:37.01\00:02:41.50 but denying its power, 00:02:41.51\00:02:44.02 and from such people turn away!" 00:02:44.03\00:02:47.86 So, it's interesting because, here Dan, 00:02:47.87\00:02:49.52 in Second Timothy we see the form of godliness, 00:02:49.53\00:02:53.49 we see Paul as describing the form of godliness, 00:02:53.50\00:02:57.09 but it's possible to have the form of godliness 00:02:57.10\00:02:59.99 and yet lack the power of godliness. 00:03:00.00\00:03:03.36 And this is gonna be the subject matter 00:03:03.37\00:03:04.47 for our show today. 00:03:04.48\00:03:05.45 Is it possible that in our Christian experience 00:03:05.46\00:03:07.41 we can have the form of godliness, 00:03:07.42\00:03:09.05 we can look like we're godly, 00:03:09.06\00:03:10.72 we can act like we're godly, 00:03:10.73\00:03:11.79 but somehow be void of a powerful experience 00:03:11.80\00:03:16.06 with God and I think this is something that, 00:03:16.07\00:03:18.44 sadly, is prevalence in our experience. 00:03:18.45\00:03:21.15 So, Dan, what is this all about? 00:03:21.16\00:03:23.45 Well, I think it's, it will be important for us 00:03:23.46\00:03:25.08 to define what this means. 00:03:25.09\00:03:26.28 And we skipped right to verse 5, 00:03:26.29\00:03:27.80 but if we start looking at verse 1. 00:03:27.81\00:03:30.02 Paul kind of tells him what's going on, 00:03:30.03\00:03:32.60 what's happening in the last days. 00:03:32.61\00:03:33.66 And I really what he says. 00:03:33.67\00:03:35.33 He says, "But know this, that in the last days 00:03:35.34\00:03:37.18 perilous times will come." 00:03:37.19\00:03:38.33 So, these are times 00:03:38.34\00:03:40.65 that you don't just sit back and watch. 00:03:40.66\00:03:42.94 Perilous is like dangerous. Perilous is dangerous. 00:03:42.95\00:03:44.86 Perilous times. 00:03:44.87\00:03:45.84 And he's speaking about the church, okay. 00:03:45.85\00:03:47.61 This isn't just the world. 00:03:47.62\00:03:49.17 We know that it's dangerous out there. 00:03:49.18\00:03:51.22 But this is the church. 00:03:51.23\00:03:52.76 "For men will be lovers of themselves, 00:03:52.77\00:03:54.56 lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, 00:03:54.57\00:03:57.94 disobedient to parents, unthankful, 00:03:57.95\00:03:59.80 unholy, unloving, unforgiving, 00:03:59.81\00:04:02.54 slanderers without self-control, 00:04:02.55\00:04:04.47 brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, 00:04:04.48\00:04:08.07 haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God," 00:04:08.08\00:04:10.90 and it says, "having a form of godliness." 00:04:10.91\00:04:13.09 Well. Okay. 00:04:13.10\00:04:14.16 So, when we look at this, 00:04:14.17\00:04:15.46 this isn't something we can look into the world. 00:04:15.47\00:04:18.12 We need to be looking in the church for this. 00:04:18.13\00:04:19.87 And I think as young people, you know, 00:04:19.88\00:04:22.49 we're kind of aware of, you know, 00:04:22.50\00:04:24.87 the hypocrisy, the bad in the church, 00:04:24.88\00:04:28.71 I mean, nobody really has to point it out to us. 00:04:28.72\00:04:31.50 So, Dan, you're saying that 00:04:31.51\00:04:32.48 all of these negative characteristics 00:04:32.49\00:04:33.99 that Paul has just addressed 00:04:34.00\00:04:35.35 is talking about religious people? 00:04:35.36\00:04:36.93 Yeah, I think we can look at these-- 00:04:36.94\00:04:38.86 well, the first one is lovers of themselves, you know. 00:04:38.87\00:04:42.28 If we look in the church there are people who, 00:04:42.29\00:04:44.53 you know, are more selfish, 00:04:44.54\00:04:46.62 more concerned about themselves 00:04:46.63\00:04:48.23 than about other people in the church. 00:04:48.24\00:04:50.34 I mean, we can go through each of this. 00:04:50.35\00:04:52.86 Lovers of money, 00:04:52.87\00:04:53.84 there are people in the church more concerned 00:04:53.85\00:04:55.87 about their careers, 00:04:55.88\00:04:57.07 how to get financial stability, 00:04:57.08\00:04:59.30 climb up the corporate ladder 00:04:59.31\00:05:01.09 than they are about the good in the church. 00:05:01.10\00:05:02.41 It's interesting because it isn't necessarily wrong 00:05:02.42\00:05:04.72 to be interested in your career and being successful, 00:05:04.73\00:05:07.74 but yet it's almost like an obsession, 00:05:07.75\00:05:09.81 it becomes more of a priority 00:05:09.82\00:05:12.15 than the importance things in your experience with God. 00:05:12.16\00:05:14.75 Sure, and I think what Paul is, 00:05:14.76\00:05:16.54 you know, bringing out is that 00:05:16.55\00:05:18.07 there are these things that are good, 00:05:18.08\00:05:20.43 there are these things that aren't good, 00:05:20.44\00:05:22.17 but this is not Godly, you know, 00:05:22.18\00:05:25.92 it is secular and it's true that, 00:05:25.93\00:05:27.64 you know, getting money isn't bad. 00:05:27.65\00:05:29.49 But to have these things be the top priorities 00:05:29.50\00:05:32.41 in our life that is when godliness 00:05:32.42\00:05:34.52 gets replaced by the form of ungodliness. 00:05:34.53\00:05:36.43 So then it's possible that these characteristics 00:05:36.44\00:05:39.84 were exemplified in people and individuals 00:05:39.85\00:05:44.47 that had a form of godliness, 00:05:44.48\00:05:45.80 but maybe we can even say that 00:05:45.81\00:05:47.07 the reason why they had these 00:05:47.08\00:05:48.29 negative attributes is because they like the power. 00:05:48.30\00:05:50.90 So, maybe Paul's kind of describing 00:05:50.91\00:05:53.06 characteristics that dwelt in real people, 00:05:53.07\00:05:55.68 who they kind of went with the motions, 00:05:55.69\00:05:57.33 they played church. 00:05:57.34\00:05:58.87 Well, for whatever reasons they lacked this 00:05:58.88\00:06:00.40 powerful experience with God. 00:06:00.41\00:06:02.50 And what else can you say about 00:06:02.51\00:06:04.45 the forms of godliness? 00:06:04.46\00:06:07.34 What are the forms that we see 00:06:07.35\00:06:08.44 may be in this list, you know? 00:06:08.45\00:06:09.58 Well, even if we go on after lovers of money, 00:06:09.59\00:06:13.34 they're boasters, proud, 00:06:13.35\00:06:16.51 there are people in the church who, 00:06:16.52\00:06:18.44 I mean, it doesn't take much to really, 00:06:18.45\00:06:21.21 you know, kind of look around the room 00:06:21.22\00:06:23.23 and figure out that there are people 00:06:23.24\00:06:25.26 with these characteristics that surround us everyday. 00:06:25.27\00:06:28.75 Unthankful, there are people in the church 00:06:28.76\00:06:30.28 who you could do something good for them 00:06:30.29\00:06:31.68 and they don't care. 00:06:31.69\00:06:32.66 I mean, that's, I mean, if we could be honest. 00:06:32.67\00:06:34.20 So ungrateful. They're ungrateful. 00:06:34.21\00:06:35.83 They don't appreciate you, you know, 00:06:35.84\00:06:37.20 there are people who you can get on their 00:06:37.21\00:06:38.99 bad side and it's impossible 00:06:39.00\00:06:40.91 to get off of it, you know. 00:06:40.92\00:06:42.41 And unfortunately this is the case, 00:06:42.42\00:06:44.84 it's not the case everywhere. 00:06:44.85\00:06:46.32 But this is a reality and many people see this and, 00:06:46.33\00:06:50.27 you know, they don't want 00:06:50.28\00:06:51.25 anything to do with you at all. 00:06:51.26\00:06:52.66 So, you know, you've mentioned hypocrisy. 00:06:52.67\00:06:55.32 And I know that's a big, big thing 00:06:55.33\00:06:57.26 that a lot of younger adults struggle with, 00:06:57.27\00:06:59.18 and not even younger adults, but people in general. 00:06:59.19\00:07:00.77 But usually people say, you know, "hypocrisy, 00:07:00.78\00:07:04.17 I don't wanna go to this church because there's, 00:07:04.18\00:07:07.64 a church is full of hypocrites, 00:07:07.65\00:07:09.86 or maybe even--" 00:07:09.87\00:07:10.84 There's no hypocrisy in your church, right. 00:07:10.85\00:07:12.32 Oh! My church is perfect. 00:07:12.33\00:07:13.95 That's debatable. 00:07:13.96\00:07:15.26 I have the best churches in the world. 00:07:15.27\00:07:16.24 You have the best church. 00:07:16.25\00:07:17.22 Well, I don't know, 00:07:17.23\00:07:18.20 but I'd have to visit your church to figure it out. 00:07:18.21\00:07:19.60 So, you know, hypocrisy is something that, 00:07:19.61\00:07:21.22 you know, that's prevalent in all our churches. 00:07:21.23\00:07:22.63 Obviously, some to greater degrees 00:07:22.64\00:07:24.70 than others, but, you know, 00:07:24.71\00:07:26.90 what is it about hypocrisy, 00:07:26.91\00:07:29.26 whether it's in other individuals 00:07:29.27\00:07:31.33 as young people say, 00:07:31.34\00:07:32.31 "Oh! There's too many hypocrites there." 00:07:32.32\00:07:33.29 Or, sometimes we even feel that oh I'm a hypocrite, 00:07:33.30\00:07:37.23 I'm being a hypocrite, you know, 00:07:37.24\00:07:38.44 this kind of a complexion that we have 00:07:38.45\00:07:40.77 or we just keep saying, "Oh! I'm hypocrite. 00:07:40.78\00:07:42.42 I'm a hypocrite." 00:07:42.43\00:07:43.40 When we made mistakes, you know. 00:07:43.41\00:07:44.54 What is it about hypocrisy that is may be so dangerous 00:07:44.55\00:07:47.39 and why do you think 00:07:47.40\00:07:48.37 it's so prevalent in our churches? 00:07:48.38\00:07:50.08 Yeah, well, let me, just tell you a quick story. 00:07:50.09\00:07:53.28 There's somebody that is very close to me 00:07:53.29\00:07:55.90 that grew up in an Adventist home, 00:07:55.91\00:07:59.51 but her parents, you know, 00:07:59.52\00:08:01.62 didn't really live the Adventist lifestyle, 00:08:01.63\00:08:03.88 but they would preach it. 00:08:03.89\00:08:05.36 And so, you know, 00:08:05.37\00:08:06.34 she would see her parents at home 00:08:06.35\00:08:08.11 and see her parents at church and realize that 00:08:08.12\00:08:10.00 there's something not right about this. 00:08:10.01\00:08:13.47 And through, you know, seeing that, 00:08:13.48\00:08:16.74 plus people saying offensive things to her at church, 00:08:16.75\00:08:20.11 you know, I don't have to get into all that, 00:08:20.12\00:08:22.66 but through those experiences, you know, 00:08:22.67\00:08:24.75 she doesn't wanna join the church 00:08:24.76\00:08:27.18 because she says, it's for hypocrites. 00:08:27.19\00:08:29.17 And why would I wanna be, you know, 00:08:29.18\00:08:30.93 associated with a group of people like that. 00:08:30.94\00:08:33.83 So, what you're saying is that 00:08:33.84\00:08:34.87 people who have a form of godliness, 00:08:34.88\00:08:36.93 but it's just a form, 00:08:36.94\00:08:38.73 it doesn't really take part of every facet of life. 00:08:38.74\00:08:43.65 It's only a form. 00:08:43.66\00:08:44.86 It's essentially being a hypocrite 00:08:44.87\00:08:46.69 because it's living, you know, 00:08:46.70\00:08:49.67 maybe one way in the church, 00:08:49.68\00:08:51.61 but maybe living a completely different way 00:08:51.62\00:08:53.40 outside of the church. 00:08:53.41\00:08:54.38 And don't you think that 00:08:54.39\00:08:55.36 young people today can pick that up? 00:08:55.37\00:08:56.72 Yeah, definitely. I mean-- 00:08:56.73\00:08:58.21 You know, it doesn't take much, right. 00:08:58.22\00:08:59.70 Right. Yeah. 00:08:59.71\00:09:00.68 I mean, I think we're still young right now. 00:09:00.69\00:09:02.34 I'm still young. 00:09:02.35\00:09:03.53 Oh! You're still young. I'm still young. 00:09:03.54\00:09:04.83 May be not me. You're getting pretty old there. 00:09:04.84\00:09:06.53 But, you know, they just think the word 00:09:06.54\00:09:07.62 hypocrisy in the original language and Jesus 00:09:07.63\00:09:10.26 even addressed hypocrisy in the New Testament. 00:09:10.27\00:09:12.84 The word 'hypocrisy' and when He said, 00:09:12.85\00:09:14.18 "Hypocrites," it's actually the word 'actor.' 00:09:14.19\00:09:16.77 It's almost as if somebody who is just acting out 00:09:16.78\00:09:20.39 being a Christian, but not necessarily 00:09:20.40\00:09:24.90 being apart of their actual life. 00:09:24.93\00:09:26.96 It's kind of like a script, it's like something that 00:09:26.97\00:09:28.76 you do may be to please those around you, may be to 00:09:28.77\00:09:32.50 just kind of give the good impression that 00:09:32.51\00:09:34.55 you're a certain type of way but in reality 00:09:34.56\00:09:36.40 you're completely different. Yeah. 00:09:36.41\00:09:37.95 Can you tell us may be just from your experience what 00:09:37.96\00:09:40.50 hypocrisy looks like in a church? 00:09:40.51\00:09:42.35 Well, I think hypocrisy has many forms and I think, 00:09:42.36\00:09:44.68 sadly, we see many forms in the church. 00:09:44.69\00:09:47.49 You know, hypocrisy I think and particularly, you know, 00:09:47.50\00:09:50.52 as a pastor I see, I hear a lot of concerns 00:09:50.53\00:09:53.40 may be even a lot of complaints some times 00:09:53.41\00:09:55.10 particularly with young people. 00:09:55.11\00:09:56.64 And one of the things that I hear a lot 00:09:56.65\00:09:57.89 with young people they're saying, you know, 00:09:57.90\00:09:59.14 "well, you know, when I come to church I'm not motivated. 00:09:59.15\00:10:03.17 I just -- I don't really tune into the message. 00:10:03.18\00:10:05.20 I don't tune into anything." 00:10:05.21\00:10:06.40 And when you get down to the bottom of it, 00:10:06.41\00:10:08.64 a lot of times because there's kind of like 00:10:08.65\00:10:11.06 an inconsistency in their home, in the parents. 00:10:11.07\00:10:14.72 They feel like the parents may be, they're saying 00:10:14.73\00:10:17.49 they're happy and they're smiling 00:10:17.50\00:10:19.33 and they're being nice in the church. 00:10:19.34\00:10:21.39 But somehow when they leave the church and they 00:10:21.40\00:10:25.32 get home, somewhere in the road. 00:10:25.33\00:10:29.32 They got disconnected. There's a disconnect. 00:10:29.33\00:10:30.94 They left their Christian experience, 00:10:30.95\00:10:32.33 may be they left it at the church or may be just 00:10:32.34\00:10:33.87 fell out of the car when they were 00:10:33.88\00:10:35.26 driving on their way home. 00:10:35.27\00:10:36.39 But I know that's one of the things that a lot of 00:10:36.40\00:10:37.58 young people struggle with is the whole, why is it that 00:10:37.59\00:10:41.51 my parents expect me to be a Christian in the church 00:10:41.52\00:10:44.35 when it's not something that isn't 00:10:44.36\00:10:46.07 a reality in our homes. 00:10:46.08\00:10:47.80 Have you found that experience 00:10:47.81\00:10:49.01 as well as a pastor? Yeah. 00:10:49.02\00:10:50.12 I think there are people who have 00:10:50.13\00:10:54.16 grown up in a hypocritical home. 00:10:54.17\00:10:56.31 And when they see it, I think it's very 00:10:56.32\00:10:57.98 sensitive of them, because they're trying to find 00:10:57.99\00:11:00.65 what's real, you know, a real Christian experience, 00:11:00.66\00:11:03.28 but hypocrisy can be very, it's something easily picked 00:11:03.29\00:11:08.57 up and something that you don't 00:11:08.58\00:11:10.38 want anything to do with. 00:11:10.39\00:11:12.37 You know, we always use the phrase like 00:11:12.38\00:11:14.31 "Let's be real, okay." Yeah. 00:11:14.32\00:11:15.53 And we always wanna have a real experience. 00:11:15.54\00:11:17.76 We don't wanna be part of something that's fake. 00:11:17.77\00:11:19.84 And if we feel like that, you know, there's some 00:11:19.85\00:11:22.93 hardcore individuals among us who just, you know, 00:11:22.94\00:11:25.14 throw that out of the window and say that, you know, 00:11:25.15\00:11:27.86 we don't want that because it's not real, 00:11:27.87\00:11:29.45 you know, that's not me. 00:11:29.46\00:11:30.79 And people want a genuine experience 00:11:30.80\00:11:33.41 and they don't wanna feel like they're putting up 00:11:33.42\00:11:34.71 a show all the time. 00:11:34.72\00:11:35.85 And it seems like having the form of godliness is 00:11:35.86\00:11:37.98 something that will never appeal to anyone because of 00:11:37.99\00:11:41.19 what you just said, especially young adults 00:11:41.20\00:11:42.86 and young people, we're all about being real 00:11:42.87\00:11:45.32 and having that genuine and authentic experience. 00:11:45.33\00:11:47.90 And when you have a full of godliness, 00:11:47.91\00:11:50.91 there's something that number one, will never have 00:11:50.92\00:11:53.23 you satisfied, because it's not real. 00:11:53.24\00:11:55.36 And number two, it's something that will never 00:11:55.37\00:11:56.62 appeal to other people because it's not real. 00:11:56.63\00:11:58.71 So, having a form of godliness is a problem 00:11:58.72\00:12:00.87 for you as an individual and is a problem for those 00:12:00.88\00:12:03.31 outside because they will never be, may be encouraged 00:12:03.32\00:12:07.34 or even attracted to an experience with God. 00:12:07.35\00:12:09.15 And I think if we look back at Second Timothy 00:12:09.16\00:12:12.15 Chapter 3 verse 7, Paul even continues, there 00:12:12.16\00:12:14.67 there are people who are always learning and 00:12:14.68\00:12:17.63 never able to come to knowledge of the truth. 00:12:17.64\00:12:20.19 And this is, this is key I think, because we go to 00:12:20.20\00:12:23.05 church every week, you know, 00:12:23.06\00:12:24.94 we hear the Sabbath School lesson, 00:12:24.95\00:12:26.62 we hear the sermon, we go to prayer meeting 00:12:26.63\00:12:28.64 and we get so much information, 00:12:28.65\00:12:30.40 may be we read our Bibles at home. 00:12:30.41\00:12:32.16 Hopefully we do that. Amen. 00:12:32.17\00:12:34.49 If you're a church member out there, 00:12:34.50\00:12:35.72 we want you to read the word. 00:12:35.73\00:12:37.39 So, there are people who are getting, 00:12:37.45\00:12:39.33 we're getting saturated with information all our life 00:12:39.34\00:12:41.45 week after week, okay. Always learning new things. 00:12:41.46\00:12:45.36 But the Bible says they're never able 00:12:45.37\00:12:46.98 to come to a knowledge of the truth. 00:12:46.99\00:12:48.62 Meaning, they never really get to apply 00:12:48.63\00:12:51.73 the Bible or experience Jesus for themselves. 00:12:51.74\00:12:54.19 And so, when it comes to that, you know, 00:12:54.20\00:12:56.86 that's where hypocrisy begins. 00:12:56.87\00:12:59.62 And it's interesting because this description even though 00:12:59.63\00:13:02.58 Paul wrote it to Timothy, it's almost verbatim as to 00:13:02.59\00:13:06.90 what Jesus addressed when He spoke to 00:13:06.91\00:13:08.35 the Pharisees, which kind of were the 00:13:08.36\00:13:10.31 religious leaders who knew a lot, they learned a lot. 00:13:10.32\00:13:13.82 They knew a lot about, you know, 00:13:13.83\00:13:15.41 some of the doctrines, they knew a lot about 00:13:15.42\00:13:17.14 the Levitical codes and what have you. 00:13:17.15\00:13:19.90 But for whatever reasons all of these learning 00:13:19.91\00:13:22.79 of religious and ceremonial principles, 00:13:22.80\00:13:26.41 somehow they weren't able to come to the knowledge 00:13:26.44\00:13:28.70 of the truth, which is of course 00:13:28.71\00:13:29.97 that Christ was indeed the Promised One, the Messiah. 00:13:29.98\00:13:32.98 So, here they were arguing about religion 00:13:32.99\00:13:36.39 to the very one, to the creator of all things 00:13:36.40\00:13:38.53 and they were doubting whether or not He existed. 00:13:38.54\00:13:40.12 Is it possible that for us to get 00:13:40.13\00:13:42.61 into that experience as well? 00:13:42.62\00:13:43.92 To be so filled with theories, so filled 00:13:43.93\00:13:48.36 with may be even theology, and at the same time missed 00:13:48.37\00:13:51.33 vital truths like the Pharisees missed 00:13:51.34\00:13:54.96 the most vitalest truth of all, that Christ 00:13:54.97\00:13:57.55 was indeed the Son of God? Yeah. 00:13:57.56\00:13:58.87 I think it's definitely possible because we always 00:13:58.88\00:14:02.05 like to find things that work. 00:14:02.06\00:14:03.84 And we look at, this is the way for me 00:14:03.85\00:14:07.36 to get what I want, right. 00:14:07.37\00:14:09.81 Well, there's a story in Acts Chapter 19, we can 00:14:09.82\00:14:12.06 just turn there because these guys 00:14:12.07\00:14:15.31 were experiencing the same thing. 00:14:15.32\00:14:16.89 This is at the time in Acts Chapter 19 00:14:16.90\00:14:18.97 when the Holy Spirit has been poured on Ephesus. 00:14:18.98\00:14:21.70 Miracles are happening. 00:14:21.71\00:14:23.18 And Paul is doing such great things like even if they 00:14:23.19\00:14:26.66 took some clothes from his body to somebody 00:14:26.67\00:14:29.16 who is sick, the sick person would be healed 00:14:29.17\00:14:31.38 just by touching his clothes. 00:14:31.39\00:14:33.51 And so, we'll pick the story in Chapter 19 verse 14 00:14:33.52\00:14:38.75 that there are seven sons of a Jewish priest. 00:14:38.76\00:14:41.36 So, these are Jewish priests. 00:14:41.37\00:14:43.58 They're kind of like PKs. Preacher kids. 00:14:43.59\00:14:47.01 You know, there's lot of 00:14:47.04\00:14:48.35 stereotype that's go on with that. 00:14:48.36\00:14:49.36 I don't wanna, you know, get into that too much, 00:14:49.37\00:14:51.98 'cause someday I'll have children 00:14:51.99\00:14:53.30 and they'll be PKs but hopefully not. 00:14:53.31\00:14:56.47 And then, it says, in verse 15, 00:14:56.48\00:14:59.21 the evil spirit answered and said to them, 00:14:59.22\00:15:00.67 "Jesus, I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?" 00:15:00.68\00:15:02.63 So, they go and they see Paul is doing all these 00:15:02.64\00:15:04.94 miracles and they want the same power that he has. 00:15:04.95\00:15:09.44 So, they go to this guy who's possessed with demons 00:15:09.45\00:15:12.36 or a demon and they try to cast him out. 00:15:12.37\00:15:16.22 In verse 30, "We exorcise you 00:15:16.23\00:15:19.30 by the Jesus whom Paul preaches." 00:15:19.34\00:15:21.77 So, they thought that if they could get it 00:15:21.78\00:15:22.83 just right, like Paul is, they know who Paul is, 00:15:22.84\00:15:26.39 they know who Jesus is, so if we use those two names 00:15:26.40\00:15:29.28 maybe we'll have the same power. 00:15:29.29\00:15:30.61 So, they're kind of borrowing 00:15:30.62\00:15:33.03 from somebody else's experience. 00:15:33.04\00:15:34.96 They wanted the same power, the same experience. 00:15:34.97\00:15:37.33 Okay. But they didn't go about it the same way. 00:15:37.34\00:15:39.22 And well, we know the story 00:15:39.23\00:15:40.25 that the guy overpowered them, 00:15:40.26\00:15:42.11 beat them up and they ran out of the house naked. 00:15:42.12\00:15:44.98 And, but what's interesting is that the Bible tells us 00:15:44.99\00:15:47.73 that they were Jews, that they were sons of a priest. 00:15:47.74\00:15:50.85 These are guys who probably, if they were living today 00:15:50.86\00:15:53.33 would know their Bibles. Right. 00:15:53.34\00:15:54.76 They may fast once a week, you know, 00:15:54.77\00:15:57.64 vegetarians to the teeth. Right. 00:15:57.65\00:15:59.76 Sabbath keepers, you know, to the minute. 00:15:59.77\00:16:02.07 And yet, they had no power. It's interesting. 00:16:02.08\00:16:07.22 So essentially these individuals 00:16:07.23\00:16:10.11 lacked a firsthand experience with God. 00:16:10.12\00:16:14.27 They were trying to maybe ride the coattail 00:16:14.28\00:16:17.75 of the religious or the spiritual leaders 00:16:17.76\00:16:20.41 like Christ or the spiritual leaders like Paul. 00:16:20.42\00:16:22.62 They were kind of quoting Paul, because 00:16:22.63\00:16:24.62 they wanted to see if maybe if they rode on 00:16:24.63\00:16:27.33 his spiritual, you know, occurrence, they can get 00:16:27.34\00:16:30.94 the same benefits but they didn't obviously. 00:16:30.95\00:16:32.93 So I wanna address the viewers, may be you're 00:16:32.94\00:16:35.36 a young person, may be you're finding it very 00:16:35.37\00:16:37.79 difficult to find power in your life for victory 00:16:37.80\00:16:40.07 and you're wondering what's going on, why is it 00:16:40.08\00:16:42.21 that all my friends or why is that this preacher seems 00:16:42.22\00:16:45.21 to be having an exciting time with God when I'm not. 00:16:45.22\00:16:47.17 Is it possible that may be you're also 00:16:47.18\00:16:49.79 under the same situation that these individuals 00:16:49.80\00:16:51.84 were in Acts Chapter 19. 00:16:51.85\00:16:53.37 May be you're simply trying to ride the experience 00:16:53.38\00:16:56.92 of somebody else because you don't have that first 00:16:56.93\00:16:59.94 experience -- firsthand experience with Christ and 00:16:59.95\00:17:02.95 we wanna encourage you to take that step 00:17:02.96\00:17:05.15 and to make that commitment as well. 00:17:05.16\00:17:06.70 Isaiah 29:13 says that, "Their fear toward 00:17:06.71\00:17:09.81 me is taught by the precept of men." 00:17:09.82\00:17:12.17 And it's important for us to realize that we have to go 00:17:12.18\00:17:15.32 beyond just what just we've been taught. 00:17:15.33\00:17:17.40 Just what we've seen or heard to an actual 00:17:17.41\00:17:20.25 living experience within ourselves, otherwise, if we 00:17:20.26\00:17:23.22 try to do it we're gonna remain hypocrites. Right. 00:17:23.23\00:17:26.20 Now, I'm glad you mentioned the word hypocrite, because 00:17:26.21\00:17:28.99 we've mentioned Timothy, we said that Timothy was 00:17:29.00\00:17:31.43 a good source of counsel for the current and 00:17:31.44\00:17:35.82 contemporary difficulties and issues and challenges 00:17:35.83\00:17:38.39 with young adults that are striving to become Christians. 00:17:38.40\00:17:40.73 So we've read the text in Second Timothy, let's go 00:17:40.74\00:17:43.44 to First Timothy, 'cause I think First Timothy, 00:17:43.45\00:17:45.28 I believe, has a good challenge and 00:17:45.29\00:17:47.37 may be even a good counsel as well that would give us, 00:17:47.38\00:17:52.72 I think, power and would give us a good prospective 00:17:52.73\00:17:56.65 as to how to deal with this issue of form of godliness. 00:17:56.66\00:17:58.84 Because, let's be honest, Dan, there are so many 00:17:58.85\00:18:01.27 people that says, "Well, you know, 00:18:01.28\00:18:02.28 I don't want to go to church because there are 00:18:02.29\00:18:04.40 so many hypocrites there." And they leave it at that. 00:18:04.41\00:18:07.26 They say, "well, there are so many hypocrites there." 00:18:07.27\00:18:09.37 But I think First Timothy 4, First Timothy Chapter 4 00:18:09.38\00:18:12.58 beginning in verse 12 really, really 00:18:12.59\00:18:15.96 kind of drives this nail firm. 00:18:15.97\00:18:18.19 It says, "Let no one despise your youth." 00:18:18.20\00:18:23.13 You know, sometimes as young adults 00:18:23.14\00:18:24.88 and young people we struggle because we're young 00:18:24.89\00:18:27.81 and sometimes because we're young and sometimes 00:18:27.82\00:18:30.53 young people even the church have -- 00:18:30.54\00:18:33.08 we don't have the greatest reputation. 00:18:33.09\00:18:34.65 We tend to have the kind of reputation 00:18:34.66\00:18:36.26 of being rebellious and not really being into norms or 00:18:36.27\00:18:40.26 doctrine or standards or what have you. 00:18:40.27\00:18:42.15 Sometimes the older generations, 00:18:42.16\00:18:43.63 they're a little bit kind of worried about us, 00:18:43.64\00:18:45.02 they're like, "Oh! Wait a second. 00:18:45.03\00:18:46.13 We don't want it 00:18:46.14\00:18:47.13 We gotta be careful with this young people. 00:18:47.14\00:18:48.13 We don't want them to think too much, 00:18:48.14\00:18:49.13 get too much involve with. 00:18:49.14\00:18:50.21 " But notice what it says, "Let no one despise your 00:18:50.32\00:18:52.33 youth, but be an example to the believers," and then 00:18:52.34\00:18:57.93 it mentioned several things, "in word, in conduct, 00:18:57.94\00:19:01.40 in love, in spirit, in faith and purity." 00:19:01.41\00:19:05.84 And I think, Dan, this is critical 00:19:05.85\00:19:07.25 because many times we say, " 00:19:07.26\00:19:08.33 "Oh! There are so many hypocrites over there. 00:19:08.34\00:19:10.65 There are so many people over there 00:19:10.66\00:19:11.87 they haven't figure it out. 00:19:11.88\00:19:13.98 They haven't really arrived yet, so I as a young person 00:19:13.99\00:19:17.46 I'm not gonna go over there because they're hypocrites." 00:19:17.47\00:19:19.95 But, obviously what this is teaching us 00:19:19.96\00:19:21.48 is that if it indeed is true that they're hypocrites, 00:19:21.49\00:19:24.32 then I am encouraged, it is my responsibility 00:19:24.33\00:19:28.90 as a young Christian to actually be an example. 00:19:28.91\00:19:33.16 To get in there and show people, 00:19:33.17\00:19:34.82 really show some categories. 00:19:34.83\00:19:35.82 Now, may be we could-- We like to joke around, 00:19:35.83\00:19:38.65 you know, as young people because we're so idealistic 00:19:38.66\00:19:42.22 and we think, you know, we can change the world 00:19:42.23\00:19:43.82 and we joke about, you know, 00:19:43.83\00:19:44.82 hey, I'm gonna change the world. 00:19:44.83\00:19:45.82 Right. And do something. 00:19:45.83\00:19:47.70 And but in reality this is the lesson like, 00:19:47.71\00:19:51.08 you know, you got a-- it might sound a little cheesy, 00:19:51.09\00:19:53.47 but be the change that you wanna see, you know. 00:19:53.48\00:19:55.74 In others. In others. 00:19:55.75\00:19:57.07 And so, you live that lifestyle, 00:19:57.08\00:19:58.89 you go there and be that change. 00:19:58.90\00:20:02.07 It's like a church, you know, who, you know, 00:20:02.08\00:20:06.55 you hear the stories, I'm gonna say this because 00:20:06.59\00:20:08.57 there are churches who don't like their pastor. Right. 00:20:08.58\00:20:11.83 You know, I'm a pastor, so this is something to me. 00:20:11.84\00:20:14.50 And all the praying people leave the church 00:20:14.51\00:20:17.92 instead of staying and praying 00:20:17.93\00:20:19.05 for their pastor. Right. 00:20:19.06\00:20:20.35 And, you know, if all the praying people leave, 00:20:20.36\00:20:24.12 you know, what's gonna happen to him. 00:20:24.13\00:20:25.79 And so, we wanna encourage those people to stay 00:20:25.80\00:20:27.49 but also, you know, the hypocrites 00:20:27.50\00:20:29.33 they need help too. They need help too. 00:20:29.34\00:20:30.73 They need to see what it's like for a young person 00:20:30.74\00:20:33.01 to actually believe and live what they preach. 00:20:33.02\00:20:36.95 And what I love about it, is that, you know, its 00:20:36.96\00:20:39.76 really spelled out, Paul really explain specifics. 00:20:39.77\00:20:42.47 And that's one of things as young people we get 00:20:42.48\00:20:44.39 frustrated with, is when we're given a very 00:20:44.40\00:20:46.57 general standard, when we're given specifics, 00:20:46.58\00:20:49.30 that's why the word of God is such a powerful resource 00:20:49.31\00:20:51.97 because it shows you the standard, but it also 00:20:51.98\00:20:53.91 shows you the steps to get there. 00:20:53.92\00:20:55.00 And what I love about this text is that Paul says, 00:20:55.01\00:20:57.25 we're gonna be an example in word. 00:20:57.26\00:20:59.57 In other words in our conversation, 00:20:59.58\00:21:01.32 is it possible what that, the reason why many times 00:21:01.33\00:21:04.25 our youth is despised is because the content 00:21:04.26\00:21:06.80 of our conversation, number 1, 00:21:06.81\00:21:08.07 its not intelligent, it's not edifying, 00:21:08.08\00:21:10.40 it's not spiritual. 00:21:10.41\00:21:11.80 And of course, the content of our conversation is a 00:21:11.81\00:21:14.61 pretty good gaze as to what our heart is all about. 00:21:14.62\00:21:18.02 Conduct, how we behave, right. 00:21:18.03\00:21:20.99 How we carry ourselves, in love. 00:21:21.02\00:21:23.25 In other words, we have to love even people 00:21:23.26\00:21:25.53 who may have double lives, we have to love that 00:21:25.54\00:21:27.45 just like Christ did. 00:21:27.46\00:21:28.82 In spirit, in faith, and in purity. 00:21:28.83\00:21:31.53 In other words, we're challenged to be 00:21:31.54\00:21:33.95 examples in every facet of our life 00:21:33.96\00:21:36.57 not just at church but even in every other case that we 00:21:36.58\00:21:40.62 we find ourselves in and I think it's pretty much. 00:21:40.63\00:21:41.88 And I think if we just continue reading, Paul says, 00:21:41.89\00:21:44.76 "till I come, give attention to reading, 00:21:44.77\00:21:47.02 to exhortation and to doctrine." 00:21:47.03\00:21:49.02 And this is one thing that's critical, you know, 00:21:49.03\00:21:52.06 I mentioned that we always like 00:21:52.07\00:21:53.62 to get information, but we never apply. 00:21:53.63\00:21:55.82 We need to apply and he's not saying 00:21:55.83\00:21:57.46 just get the information. 00:21:57.47\00:21:59.26 We need to be ever learning and coming to announcing 00:21:59.27\00:22:02.24 the truth. That's right. Not exclusive. 00:22:02.25\00:22:04.35 But then in the very next verse, 00:22:04.36\00:22:06.72 verse 13 to like verse 14, "Do not neglect 00:22:06.76\00:22:10.79 the gift that is in you." 00:22:10.80\00:22:12.98 Verse 15, "Mediate on these things; 00:22:12.99\00:22:14.79 give yourself entirely to them." 00:22:14.80\00:22:17.74 So, it's not just, you know, 00:22:17.75\00:22:19.79 compartmentalize these things on Sabbath. 00:22:19.80\00:22:22.36 We need to be giving ourselves 00:22:22.37\00:22:23.76 entirely to them, all in, or not at all. 00:22:23.77\00:22:27.44 So, it's almost like Paul is kind of giving 00:22:27.45\00:22:29.09 Timothy the how-to tap into that power that those that 00:22:29.10\00:22:34.09 have the form of godliness are lacking. Yeah. 00:22:34.10\00:22:36.15 And I love that because how in the world can we have 00:22:36.16\00:22:38.40 the power when we're not attached to the source 00:22:38.41\00:22:41.58 of the power, which is the word of God. 00:22:41.59\00:22:42.72 And he's exhorting him to read, 00:22:42.73\00:22:45.44 he's exhorting him to doctrine. 00:22:45.45\00:22:46.44 I think as young people we want merely a feel good 00:22:46.45\00:22:49.91 Christian experience, but we don't want the intelligent, 00:22:49.92\00:22:53.72 the profound, the intellect, which really is a balance. 00:22:53.73\00:22:56.40 Yeah. It can't just be all music and emotion. Exactly. 00:22:56.41\00:22:59.86 And there's gotta be some scriptures. Substantial. 00:22:59.87\00:23:02.26 Something with substance, put the music the emotion 00:23:02.27\00:23:05.33 with the word, you've got a good package. 00:23:05.34\00:23:07.83 Another text that I'm really excited about, 00:23:07.84\00:23:10.36 because there's a lot of, the Bible has a lot of ways 00:23:10.37\00:23:12.59 to describe how we can experience 00:23:12.60\00:23:14.93 the power in Romans, which is an amazing epistle 00:23:14.94\00:23:18.18 that really talks a lot about the gospel 00:23:18.19\00:23:21.15 and the character of Christ. 00:23:21.16\00:23:23.20 Romans Chapter 1 in the very introduction 00:23:23.21\00:23:25.50 of this entire book, Paul kind of explains 00:23:25.51\00:23:28.50 a little bit as to what the gospel 00:23:28.51\00:23:29.78 is in Romans Chapter 1 and verse 16 he says, 00:23:29.79\00:23:33.29 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, 00:23:33.30\00:23:35.77 for it is the power of God unto salvation." 00:23:35.80\00:23:39.42 So, in other words, the gospel 00:23:39.43\00:23:41.52 is the source of power. 00:23:41.53\00:23:42.68 So, is it possible that the reason why we don't have 00:23:42.69\00:23:45.80 power, we just have a form of godliness 00:23:45.81\00:23:47.80 is because we have a misunderstanding 00:23:47.81\00:23:49.61 of what the nature of the true gospel is. 00:23:49.62\00:23:51.85 Absolutely, and I think another component would be 00:23:51.86\00:23:55.54 a lack of the Holy Spirit, because the Bible says that 00:23:55.55\00:23:59.40 when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will receive. 00:23:59.41\00:24:01.69 You will receive power. Power. 00:24:01.70\00:24:02.76 Acts Chapter 1 verse 8 I think it is. 00:24:02.77\00:24:03.78 Acts Chapter 1 verse 8. 00:24:03.79\00:24:05.16 And so, we don't understand the gospel we lack power, 00:24:05.17\00:24:08.26 but if we don't have the Holy Spirit, 00:24:08.27\00:24:09.35 we lack the same power. 00:24:09.36\00:24:10.44 It's interesting because that very word, power, and 00:24:10.45\00:24:12.51 that very text Acts Chapter 1 verse 8 00:24:12.52\00:24:14.60 in the original, I don't speak Greek 00:24:14.61\00:24:16.42 I speak Spanish a little bit but. Spanish. 00:24:16.43\00:24:18.47 But in the Greek the word power there is the 00:24:18.48\00:24:20.98 word "Dynamos" which actually where the word 00:24:20.99\00:24:24.12 dynamite comes from. 00:24:24.13\00:24:25.47 So, I think that such a powerful illustration as 00:24:25.48\00:24:27.49 to what happens when the Spirit 00:24:27.50\00:24:28.71 that comes into your life. 00:24:28.72\00:24:30.32 And I think if we put this into practice, 00:24:30.33\00:24:32.13 number 1, tapping into the word of God. 00:24:32.14\00:24:33.27 Number 2, having a firsthand experience with Christ. 00:24:34.56\00:24:37.60 Number 3, allowing the Spirit of God allow it 00:24:37.61\00:24:39.83 to fill us witt spiritual dynamite and 00:24:39.84\00:24:42.41 I think our lives would really take off. Yeah. 00:24:42.42\00:24:44.88 I came up with an acronym a friend of mine actually 00:24:44.89\00:24:46.98 came up with this acronym and I really like it. 00:24:46.99\00:24:48.80 I know how much you love acronyms so. Yeah. 00:24:48.81\00:24:50.63 Everything is an acronym with this generation. 00:24:50.64\00:24:52.90 I think my name is gonna become an acronym soon. 00:24:52.91\00:24:54.59 What's the acronym? Jay. We'll come up with it. 00:24:54.60\00:24:56.07 What's the acronym? 00:24:56.08\00:24:57.10 It's Blest, B-L-E-S-T for avoiding hypocrisy 00:24:57.11\00:25:01.23 you've got to be biblically based. Amen. 00:25:01.24\00:25:03.50 All right, it's gotta be from the Bible. 00:25:03.51\00:25:07.15 You gotta have loyalty to the church, 00:25:07.16\00:25:09.08 to Christ and the church. 00:25:09.09\00:25:10.10 That the "L." That's the "L." 00:25:10.11\00:25:12.42 The "E" is excellence, not just, you know, 00:25:12.43\00:25:16.12 excellence in the world but 00:25:16.13\00:25:17.20 spiritual excellence as well. 00:25:17.21\00:25:18.89 And service is a major component 00:25:18.90\00:25:21.05 of that, that's the "S." 00:25:21.06\00:25:22.88 And the "T" is trusting God, 'cause we lack 00:25:22.89\00:25:25.88 just because we're human and so God has to make up 00:25:25.89\00:25:27.92 the difference for us. 00:25:27.93\00:25:29.20 And if we remove those components, you know, 00:25:29.21\00:25:31.38 if we have excellence without the rest, 00:25:31.39\00:25:33.17 we can become legalistic, you know, 00:25:33.18\00:25:35.25 it's got to be just right. Right. Perfect. 00:25:35.26\00:25:37.44 And if we keep those components there, then 00:25:37.45\00:25:40.02 I think that's a safe word for us to avoid 00:25:40.03\00:25:43.57 the hypocrisy that we're trying to avoid any way. 00:25:43.58\00:25:46.59 Dan, I think we just solved the world's problem in this 00:25:46.60\00:25:48.44 little conversation that we've had. 00:25:48.45\00:25:49.76 As we can see, you know, the word of God is not just 00:25:49.77\00:25:52.28 a book that's written for the older generation, 00:25:52.29\00:25:55.21 it's actually written for the contemporary 00:25:55.22\00:25:57.08 young person who has real valid questions and doubts 00:25:57.09\00:26:00.47 and I wanna encourage the young people 00:26:00.48\00:26:02.23 that are gonna continue to watch this program 00:26:02.24\00:26:04.85 to recognize that the word of God is filled 00:26:04.86\00:26:07.35 with wisdom, you know, we're gonna be blessed 00:26:07.36\00:26:09.61 to have many, many guests in this program 00:26:09.62\00:26:12.15 and we're gonna talk about many, many different 00:26:12.16\00:26:13.88 subjects from how to be a good leader to sexuality, 00:26:13.89\00:26:18.53 some of the more uncomfortable discussions. 00:26:18.54\00:26:21.45 We're gonna talk a little bit more about 00:26:21.46\00:26:22.90 atheism, which is something that plagues a lot of our 00:26:22.91\00:26:24.78 young people, that doubt in the existence of God, 00:26:24.79\00:26:27.65 how do we know He's there, how do we know 00:26:27.66\00:26:29.02 really that He really exist. 00:26:29.03\00:26:30.34 Maybe you're a young person that is studying 00:26:30.35\00:26:31.82 in a secular campus, you know, how do you 00:26:31.83\00:26:33.41 maintain your spiritual principles 00:26:33.42\00:26:36.19 surrounded by so much wickedness. 00:26:36.20\00:26:39.37 We're gonna be talking about this in many many 00:26:39.38\00:26:41.03 other things from music to how to deal with peer 00:26:41.04\00:26:43.53 pressure and the source of our information and the 00:26:43.54\00:26:46.63 source of our insight is gonna be the word of God. 00:26:46.64\00:26:49.03 Dan, is there any last final word 00:26:49.04\00:26:51.06 you'd like to say to our viewers in 10, 15 seconds? 00:26:51.07\00:26:53.30 Fifteen seconds, I'd just like to say that if we could 00:26:53.31\00:26:56.25 pray for the Holy Spirit and really agonize 00:26:56.26\00:27:00.08 for that gift, that the church 00:27:00.09\00:27:02.78 would be a much different place. Amen. 00:27:02.79\00:27:05.19 And so we wanna set the tone that in the last, or in the 00:27:05.20\00:27:09.08 next few episodes as we begin these topics, we 00:27:09.09\00:27:12.12 need the Holy Spirit to both guide our discussions, 00:27:12.13\00:27:15.14 but also to really change our lives 00:27:15.15\00:27:16.99 and change the church.
