Three. Three. Three. Three. 00:03:49.16\00:03:51.29 This is what they call an impossible picture. 00:03:51.33\00:03:54.23 It is a trick or an illusion. 00:03:54.26\00:03:56.46 It tries to make you believe something 00:03:56.50\00:03:58.47 on the basis of what you see. 00:03:58.50\00:04:00.14 But in reality, it's impossible. 00:04:00.17\00:04:02.50 You could not build something like this. 00:04:02.54\00:04:04.61 It is drawn to trick your eyes and your mind. 00:04:04.64\00:04:07.84 Likewise, the signs and wonders Satan does 00:04:07.88\00:04:10.71 are designed to trick people into believing him. 00:04:10.75\00:04:14.38 Satan will impersonate Jesus. 00:04:14.42\00:04:17.32 He will appear to miraculously heal sick people. 00:04:17.35\00:04:20.92 When he tells people the Sabbath day 00:04:20.96\00:04:23.22 has been changed to Sunday, 00:04:23.26\00:04:24.96 we will know that it's a deception. 00:04:24.99\00:04:27.43 So remember, 00:04:27.46\00:04:28.80 prophecy is more reliable than even our eyesight. 00:04:28.83\00:04:32.73 If we study our Bible and obey God's Word, 00:04:32.77\00:04:35.57 through the power of the Holy Spirit, 00:04:35.60\00:04:37.77 we need never be deceived. 00:04:37.81\00:04:39.91 Thank you, Aunty Leah. 00:04:39.94\00:04:41.38 It's amazing how easily our eyes can deceive us. 00:04:41.41\00:04:45.51 The only safe way is to trust God's Word. 00:04:45.55\00:04:49.52 Uncle Daniel, Braedan's here. 00:04:49.55\00:04:52.32 Yes, he is. 00:04:52.35\00:04:53.69 Thank you, Braedan, for joining us. 00:04:53.72\00:04:55.89 Well, Uncle Daniel, it is good to be here. 00:04:55.92\00:04:58.63 I hear that you're studying the Book of Esther. 00:04:58.66\00:05:02.06 We've got a song here called "Brave Esther," 00:05:02.10\00:05:03.93 and I hope that you can sing it with me. 00:05:03.97\00:05:05.30 Brave Esther was a royal Queen In Persia long ago 00:05:10.51\00:05:15.51 She never said she was a Jew The people did not know 00:05:15.54\00:05:20.35 A wicked man named Haman Wanted all the Jews to die 00:05:20.38\00:05:25.15 So Cousin Mordecai then told the queen And heard her cry 00:05:25.19\00:05:29.99 My people will all perish If I don't do anything 00:05:30.03\00:05:34.53 If I perish, then I perish But I must go to the King 00:05:34.56\00:05:39.60 It may be I have come Into the kingdom for this hour 00:05:39.63\00:05:44.24 We'll fast and pray and pray and fast 00:05:44.27\00:05:46.71 And conquer by God's pow'r 00:05:46.74\00:05:50.35 She held a banquet for the King And told of Haman's plan 00:05:50.38\00:05:55.12 To kill the Jews, her people And to rid them from the land 00:05:55.15\00:05:59.85 The King hung Haman and declared 00:05:59.89\00:06:02.22 The Jews could stand and fight 00:06:02.26\00:06:04.59 Brave Esther saved her people 00:06:04.63\00:06:06.63 'Cause she stood for what was right 00:06:06.66\00:06:09.43 My people will all perish If I don't do anything 00:06:09.46\00:06:13.87 If I perish, then I perish But I must go to the King 00:06:13.90\00:06:18.71 It may be I have come Into the kingdom for this hour 00:06:18.74\00:06:23.35 We'll fast and pray and pray and fast 00:06:23.38\00:06:25.75 And conquer by God's pow'r 00:06:25.78\00:06:29.72 Braedan, can we please sing the prophecy theme song? 00:06:29.75\00:06:32.55 Oh, yeah, we can. 00:06:32.59\00:06:33.96 It's so exciting that you guys are learning about prophecy. 00:06:33.99\00:06:36.02 It's just amazing stuff. Yes. 00:12:59.14\00:13:00.61 And now it's time for our Bible study. 00:13:00.64\00:13:02.64 So, Jireh, could you please start us off with a prayer? 00:13:02.68\00:13:05.31 Sure. 00:13:05.35\00:13:06.72 Dear God, please be with us as we learn more about You. 00:13:06.75\00:13:11.09 Please help us to understand what we read. 00:13:11.12\00:13:13.12 In Jesus' name, amen. 00:13:13.15\00:13:14.56 Amen. Amen. 00:13:14.59\00:13:16.29 Sai, do you remember 00:13:16.32\00:13:17.66 what we learned about last week? 00:13:17.69\00:13:19.66 King Cyrus freed the Jewish captives. 00:13:19.69\00:13:22.76 Yes. 00:13:22.80\00:13:24.13 And today, we'll learn about God's wonderful deliverance 00:13:24.17\00:13:26.77 when the Jewish people were in danger. 00:13:26.80\00:13:29.60 Let's open our Bibles to the Book of Esther, 00:13:29.64\00:13:32.47 a couple of books before Psalms. 00:13:32.51\00:13:34.94 Even though King Cyrus freed the Jewish people 00:13:34.98\00:13:37.98 to return voluntarily to their homeland, 00:13:38.01\00:13:40.52 the majority of them remained comfortably 00:13:40.55\00:13:42.58 in the Medo-Persian Kingdom. 00:13:42.62\00:13:44.82 A number of kings followed Cyrus, 00:13:44.85\00:13:47.29 including King Xerxes the Great, 00:13:47.32\00:13:49.82 who is known in the Bible as King Ahasuerus. 00:13:49.86\00:13:53.36 He lived in a fabulous palace in Shushan, 00:13:53.40\00:13:56.73 the capital of the Persian Empire. 00:13:56.77\00:13:59.17 One day, the king through a lavish 00:13:59.20\00:14:01.64 seven-day party for all the princes 00:14:01.67\00:14:03.87 and nobles of his empire. 00:14:03.91\00:14:05.97 Lots of wine was consumed. 00:14:06.01\00:14:08.24 When drunk, he summoned his wife Queen Vashti. 00:14:08.28\00:14:11.85 He wanted to show off her beauty 00:14:11.88\00:14:13.82 and her spectacular jeweled crown. 00:14:13.85\00:14:16.42 But she refused to enter his drunken party. 00:14:16.45\00:14:19.79 To disobey the king was unheard of. 00:14:19.82\00:14:22.39 He was so angry. 00:14:22.42\00:14:23.76 He banished her and looked for another 00:14:23.79\00:14:26.19 even more beautiful queen. 00:14:26.23\00:14:28.63 The fairest young women in the land were selected 00:14:28.66\00:14:31.63 for the king to choose from. 00:14:31.67\00:14:33.60 Among them was Esther, 00:14:33.64\00:14:36.07 a Jewish girl whose mother and father had died 00:14:36.10\00:14:39.07 when she was little. 00:14:39.11\00:14:40.88 She had been brought up by Mordecai, her older cousin. 00:14:40.91\00:14:44.61 He was like a father to her. 00:14:44.65\00:14:46.82 Bethany, could you please read Esther 2:17? 00:14:46.85\00:14:50.59 And tell us how the king felt when he saw Esther? 00:14:50.62\00:14:55.06 "The king loved Esther more than all the other women, 00:14:55.09\00:14:58.03 and she obtained grace and favor in his sight 00:14:58.06\00:15:00.73 more than all the virgins. 00:15:00.76\00:15:02.26 So he set the royal crown upon her head 00:15:02.30\00:15:04.57 and made her queen instead of Vashti." 00:15:04.60\00:15:07.30 The new Queen Esther did not tell the king 00:15:07.34\00:15:09.54 she was Jewish 00:15:09.57\00:15:10.91 because Mordecai told her not to reveal that information. 00:15:10.94\00:15:14.68 Mordecai spent a lot of time at the palace gates 00:15:14.71\00:15:18.01 so he could find out how Esther was getting along. 00:15:18.05\00:15:21.48 One day, he overheard two palace doorkeepers 00:15:21.52\00:15:24.79 plotting to murder the king. 00:15:24.82\00:15:26.86 Mordecai sent a message to Esther, 00:15:26.89\00:15:29.06 who passed on Mordecai's warning to the king. 00:15:29.09\00:15:32.03 The doorkeepers were hanged 00:15:32.06\00:15:33.86 and Mordecai's name was written in the king's record book 00:15:33.90\00:15:37.13 because he saved the king's life. 00:15:37.17\00:15:39.40 Now second-in-command to the king was a wealthy man 00:15:39.43\00:15:42.40 called Haman. 00:15:42.44\00:15:43.81 Everybody bowed when Haman passed by, 00:15:43.84\00:15:46.44 except Mordecai who worshiped 00:15:46.47\00:15:49.04 only the true God. 00:15:49.08\00:15:50.68 Haman hated Mordecai so much. 00:15:50.71\00:15:52.91 He tricked the king into signing a law 00:15:52.95\00:15:55.55 that on a certain date, every Jew in the kingdom, 00:15:55.58\00:15:58.45 including Mordecai, would be killed. 00:15:58.49\00:16:01.66 Mordecai informed Esther about the terrible law 00:16:01.69\00:16:05.46 and told her to plead with the king 00:16:05.49\00:16:07.30 on behalf of the people, the Jews. 00:16:07.33\00:16:10.13 But it wasn't that simple. 00:16:10.17\00:16:12.00 Caleb, could you please read Esther's reply in Esther 4:11? 00:16:12.03\00:16:17.87 "All the king's servants 00:16:17.91\00:16:19.24 and the people of the king's provinces 00:16:19.27\00:16:21.34 know that any man or woman 00:16:21.38\00:16:23.14 who goes into the inner court to the king, 00:16:23.18\00:16:25.48 who has not been called, 00:16:25.51\00:16:27.22 he has but one law. 00:16:27.25\00:16:28.85 Put all to death, except the one whom the king 00:16:28.88\00:16:31.39 holds out the golden scepter, that he may live." 00:16:31.42\00:16:34.89 So Esther could die if she went to the king 00:16:34.92\00:16:37.99 without an invitation, even though he was her husband. 00:16:38.03\00:16:41.83 Bryce, can you read Mordecai's fatherly 00:16:41.86\00:16:44.73 but very direct reply in Esther 4:13-14? 00:16:44.77\00:16:49.40 "Do not think in your heart 00:16:49.44\00:16:50.77 that you will escape in the king's palace any more 00:16:50.81\00:16:53.41 than all the other Jews. 00:16:53.44\00:16:55.04 For if you remain completely silent at this time, 00:16:55.08\00:16:57.98 relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews 00:16:58.01\00:17:00.58 from another place, 00:17:00.62\00:17:01.98 but you and your father's house will perish. 00:17:02.02\00:17:04.55 Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom 00:17:04.59\00:17:07.22 for such a time as this?" 00:17:07.26\00:17:09.12 Mordecai taught Esther as a child to trust God 00:17:09.16\00:17:12.29 and call upon Him for help in time of need. 00:17:12.33\00:17:15.43 In Esther 4:16, we learned she did just that. 00:17:15.46\00:17:19.80 Jireh, would you please read Esther's message to Mordecai? 00:17:19.83\00:17:26.04 "Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, 00:17:26.07\00:17:29.51 and fast for me. 00:17:29.54\00:17:30.88 Neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. 00:17:30.91\00:17:35.55 My maids and I will fast likewise. 00:17:35.58\00:17:39.55 And so I will go to the king, which is against the law, 00:17:39.59\00:17:44.39 and if I perish, I perish!" 00:17:44.43\00:17:46.46 That kind of courage only comes from God. 00:17:46.49\00:17:49.93 Mordecai did as Esther asked. 00:17:49.96\00:17:52.57 After three days of prayer and fasting, 00:17:52.60\00:17:55.30 Queen Esther put on her royal robes 00:17:55.34\00:17:58.07 and stood in the inner court of the king's palace, 00:17:58.11\00:18:01.24 where he could see her. 00:18:01.28\00:18:02.84 And see how he did. 00:18:02.88\00:18:04.98 Jeremiah, please reach up to Esther 5:2. 00:18:05.01\00:18:07.78 "So it was, when the king saw 00:18:11.75\00:18:13.46 Queen Esther standing in the court, 00:18:13.49\00:18:15.46 that she found favor in his sight, 00:18:15.49\00:18:17.19 and the king held up to Esther the golden scepter 00:18:17.23\00:18:20.60 that was in his hand. 00:18:20.63\00:18:21.96 Then Esther went near 00:18:22.00\00:18:23.33 and touched the top of the scepter." 00:18:23.37\00:18:26.10 Phew, what a miracle! 00:18:26.13\00:18:29.20 In fact, the king was in an amazingly good mood 00:18:29.24\00:18:32.37 that day. 00:18:32.41\00:18:33.74 Sai, could you please read Esther 5:3? 00:18:33.78\00:18:37.35 "And the king said to her, 00:18:37.38\00:18:39.38 'What do you wish, Queen Esther? 00:18:39.41\00:18:41.48 What is your request? 00:18:41.52\00:18:43.02 It shall be given to you up to half the kingdom!'" 00:18:43.05\00:18:46.96 Now a super generous offer like that 00:18:46.99\00:18:50.26 might have seemed like the perfect opportunity 00:18:50.29\00:18:53.06 to plead for her life and the life of her people. 00:18:53.09\00:18:56.00 But no, God had put a plan in her mind. 00:18:56.03\00:19:00.14 Aunty Leah, could you please read Esther 5:4? 00:19:00.17\00:19:04.01 "So Esther answered, 'If it pleases the king, 00:19:04.04\00:19:06.81 let the king and Haman come today to the banquet 00:19:06.84\00:19:09.51 that I have prepared for him.'" 00:19:09.54\00:19:11.48 So the king and Haman had a delightful time 00:19:11.51\00:19:14.32 with Esther at the banquet, 00:19:14.35\00:19:15.68 and she invited them back the following day. 00:19:15.72\00:19:18.82 Haman went home bragging about how privileged 00:19:18.85\00:19:21.86 and important he was to be the only guest 00:19:21.89\00:19:25.13 with the king and queen. 00:19:25.16\00:19:26.80 But his hatred of Mordecai overshadowed everything. 00:19:26.83\00:19:30.30 Haman's wife and friends suggested he build gallows 00:19:30.33\00:19:33.13 to hang Mordecai on, which he quickly erected. 00:19:33.17\00:19:36.64 As for the king, he couldn't sleep that night. 00:19:36.67\00:19:39.71 So he commanded that the book of records be read to him. 00:19:39.74\00:19:43.35 The king learned that nothing had been done 00:19:43.38\00:19:45.91 to honor Mordecai for saving his life. 00:19:45.95\00:19:48.82 Bethany, could you please read Esther 6:6? 00:19:48.85\00:19:52.89 And we will read Esther 6:10. 00:19:52.92\00:19:56.22 "So Haman came in, and the king asked him, 00:19:56.26\00:19:58.96 'What shall be done for the man whom 00:19:58.99\00:20:00.50 the king delights to honor?' 00:20:00.53\00:20:02.16 Now Haman thought in his heart, 00:20:02.20\00:20:04.17 'Whom would the king delight to honor more than me?'" 00:20:04.20\00:20:07.44 And, Caleb, can you please read Esther 6:7-8? 00:20:07.47\00:20:11.41 "And Haman answered the king, 00:20:11.44\00:20:13.17 'For the man whom the king delights to honor, 00:20:13.21\00:20:16.21 let a royal robe be brought which the king has worn, 00:20:16.24\00:20:19.31 and a horse on which the king has ridden, 00:20:19.35\00:20:21.82 which has a royal crest placed on his head.'" 00:20:21.85\00:20:25.29 And, Bryce, could you read Esther 6:9? 00:20:25.32\00:20:29.02 "'Then let this robe and the horse be delivered 00:20:29.06\00:20:32.36 to the hand of one of the king's 00:20:32.39\00:20:34.40 most noble princes 00:20:34.43\00:20:36.06 that he may array the man whom king delights to honor. 00:20:36.10\00:20:39.57 Then parade him on horseback through the city square, 00:20:39.60\00:20:43.41 and proclaim before him. 00:20:43.44\00:20:44.84 Thus shall it be done to the man 00:20:44.87\00:20:46.51 whom the king delights to honor!'" 00:20:46.54\00:20:48.68 And Jireh, Esther 6:10. 00:20:48.71\00:20:51.78 "Then the king said to Haman, 00:20:51.81\00:20:53.52 'Hurry, take the robe and the horse 00:20:53.55\00:20:55.25 as you have suggested, 00:20:55.28\00:20:56.65 and do so for Mordecai the Jew who sits 00:20:56.69\00:20:59.89 within the king's gate! 00:20:59.92\00:21:02.12 Leave nothing undone of all that you have spoken.'" 00:21:02.16\00:21:06.16 How do you think Haman felt 00:21:06.19\00:21:09.00 as he led Mordecai in honor around the city? 00:21:09.03\00:21:12.23 His hatred for Mordecai was greater than ever. 00:21:12.27\00:21:15.97 Later that day, Haman and the king 00:21:16.00\00:21:18.01 attended Queen Esther's banquet again. 00:21:18.04\00:21:21.14 The king asked Esther her petition. 00:21:21.18\00:21:23.78 Pointing to Haman, 00:21:23.81\00:21:25.15 Queen Esther told the king all about Haman's wicked plot 00:21:25.18\00:21:28.38 to destroy her people. 00:21:28.42\00:21:30.05 The king ordered Haman to be hanged on the gallows 00:21:30.09\00:21:32.82 he built for Mordecai. 00:21:32.85\00:21:34.69 Because the king's law could not be revoked, 00:21:34.72\00:21:37.49 he approved another law which allowed the Jews 00:21:37.53\00:21:40.16 to defend themselves. 00:21:40.20\00:21:41.76 So the Jews were saved. 00:21:41.80\00:21:43.50 In fact, many people became Jews 00:21:43.53\00:21:45.90 because they were afraid of the Jews taking vengeance 00:21:45.93\00:21:48.67 on their enemies. 00:21:48.70\00:21:50.14 Mordecai became second-in-command to the king, 00:21:50.17\00:21:53.21 and all the Jews rejoiced. 00:21:53.24\00:21:55.91 How is the story relevant for us today? 00:21:55.94\00:21:58.75 Well, let's have a look at our torchlight, 00:21:58.78\00:22:00.98 Mrs. White's writings in Prophets and Kings, 00:22:01.02\00:22:04.09 page 605. 00:22:04.12\00:22:06.72 She shines more important light on a similar decree 00:22:06.76\00:22:10.63 that will be made at the end of time, 00:22:10.66\00:22:13.03 possibly in our lifetime. 00:22:13.06\00:22:15.03 Jeremiah, could you read that for us, please? 00:22:15.06\00:22:16.80 "The decree that will finally go forth 00:22:21.30\00:22:23.41 against the remnant people of God will be very similar 00:22:23.44\00:22:27.91 to that issued by Ahasuerus against the Jews. 00:22:27.94\00:22:31.51 Today, the enemies of the true church 00:22:31.55\00:22:34.38 see in the little company 00:22:34.42\00:22:35.75 keeping the Sabbath commandment, 00:22:35.78\00:22:37.95 a Mordecai at the gate. 00:22:37.99\00:22:39.89 Legislators will yield to the demand for Sunday laws." 00:22:39.92\00:22:43.99 Our memory verse promises God will protect us 00:22:44.03\00:22:47.56 even when laws are passed forcing us 00:22:47.60\00:22:50.03 under threat of punishment 00:22:50.07\00:22:51.70 or even death to worship on Sunday 00:22:51.73\00:22:54.74 instead of the seventh day 00:22:54.77\00:22:56.34 Sabbath of the fourth commandment. 00:22:56.37\00:22:58.61 Let's read 2 Kings 17:39 together. 00:22:58.64\00:23:05.31 Are we ready? 00:23:05.35\00:23:06.92 "But the Lord your God You shall fear, 00:23:06.95\00:23:10.45 and He will deliver you 00:23:10.49\00:23:12.15 from the hand of all your enemies." 00:23:12.19\00:23:15.12 Amen. 00:23:15.16\00:23:16.49 To fear God is to show respect and reverence and to obey Him. 00:23:16.52\00:23:21.96 Memorize this wonderful promise and you need never feel afraid. 00:23:22.00\00:23:26.33 Keep watching to find out how to obtain 00:23:26.37\00:23:28.50 the daily devotionals related to our Bible study. 00:23:28.54\00:23:31.57 What do you want?
