00:08:39.05\00:08:41.38 Oh, that's made from the soya bean. 00:08:41.42\00:08:46.09 Really! 00:08:46.12\00:08:48.02 It's very good. 00:08:48.06\00:08:49.92 And so he went to China 00:08:49.96\00:08:51.29 and he never forgot the soya bean and the tofu. 00:08:51.33\00:08:55.56 And when he got to China as doctor, 00:08:55.60\00:08:58.40 he saw the saddest sight, 00:08:58.43\00:08:59.77 he saw little babies dying all the time 00:08:59.80\00:09:03.34 because they were orphans 00:09:03.37\00:09:04.84 and they didn't have mother's milk. 00:09:04.87\00:09:09.34 He decided, 00:09:09.38\00:09:10.71 I need to invent something and somebody said, 00:09:10.75\00:09:13.25 "You can actually make milk from soya beans." 00:09:13.28\00:09:17.59 Really! 00:09:17.62\00:09:19.19 So he got some and he boiled them up 00:09:19.22\00:09:21.82 and he strained it up 00:09:21.86\00:09:23.19 but, you know, soya bean has a very bitter taste 00:09:23.22\00:09:27.73 and it took him a long, long time 00:09:27.76\00:09:29.90 until he found a way of doing without boiling, 00:09:29.93\00:09:34.04 but using steam. 00:09:34.07\00:09:36.64 And you know, 00:09:36.67\00:09:38.17 Dr. Miller came to my house, when I was little. 00:09:38.21\00:09:42.11 That's what he looked like when he went to China. 00:09:42.14\00:09:44.98 And he thought, I need to look like a Chinese. 00:09:45.01\00:09:48.65 And all the Chinese men, 00:09:48.68\00:09:50.15 you can't see it there that they had pigtails, 00:09:50.19\00:09:53.52 they call them a queue. 00:09:53.56\00:09:55.19 And he thought, I better have one. 00:09:55.22\00:09:57.99 That's gonna take a long, long time 00:09:58.03\00:10:00.76 so he got some hair, 00:10:00.80\00:10:02.66 he said to his wife, sew it to the back of my hat, 00:10:02.70\00:10:06.70 I'll put it on 00:10:06.74\00:10:08.47 and I will look just like a Chinese man with my queue. 00:10:08.50\00:10:14.44 And he wore that for a little while until one day 00:10:14.48\00:10:18.01 the dreadful accident happened. 00:10:18.05\00:10:20.82 He went in front of a very important Chinese, 00:10:20.85\00:10:24.99 and the Chinese was impressed 00:10:25.02\00:10:27.59 that Dr. Miller was wearing a queue, 00:10:27.62\00:10:30.56 and as Dr. Miller walked in, 00:10:30.59\00:10:33.70 the door slammed 00:10:33.73\00:10:36.40 and he kept walking, 00:10:36.43\00:10:38.07 and everybody laughed at him. 00:10:38.10\00:10:43.67 He didn't have a queue. 00:10:43.71\00:10:46.57 And so after that, 00:10:46.61\00:10:48.41 he decided that he would grow his own hair 00:10:48.44\00:10:53.11 and when he went back to America many years later, 00:10:53.15\00:10:57.49 they were so amazed at his long hair 00:10:57.52\00:11:00.59 except he used to have to curl it up inside his hat 00:11:00.62\00:11:04.76 and wear it like that so they wouldn't laugh at him. 00:11:04.79\00:11:07.33 But, you know, he came to my house 00:11:07.36\00:11:10.73 and he borrowed my mother's sewing machine 00:11:10.77\00:11:14.84 and he made up a bag, 00:11:14.87\00:11:17.31 and he put soya beans in it 00:11:17.34\00:11:18.87 and he steamed them and then he said, 00:11:18.91\00:11:20.88 "I want your washing machine." 00:11:20.91\00:11:23.14 Oh, no, let me do the washing for you. 00:11:23.18\00:11:26.55 No, no, no, he put the soya beans in 00:11:26.58\00:11:29.55 and he spun that and out it came 00:11:29.58\00:11:32.35 and it was beautiful milk, 00:11:32.39\00:11:35.82 and I've got here 00:11:35.86\00:11:38.69 a glass of soy milk 00:11:38.73\00:11:43.30 invented by Dr. Harry Miller. 00:11:43.33\00:11:45.93 He saved so many lives. 00:11:45.97\00:11:48.24 He said, "People will be good 00:11:48.27\00:11:50.84 if they eat the right food." 00:11:50.87\00:11:53.21 And in the Bible, 00:11:53.24\00:11:55.21 there were these four young men 00:11:55.24\00:11:56.71 who said they would not eat 00:11:56.75\00:11:59.01 the filthy food of the Babylonians. 00:11:59.05\00:12:00.98 They used to have whole dishes of humming bird tongues, 00:12:01.02\00:12:04.75 and goats, and pigs, and birds 00:12:04.79\00:12:07.66 and they said we will eat healthy, 00:12:07.69\00:12:10.63 just like Dr. Miller did so many years later. 00:12:10.66\00:12:14.56 And the world owes Dr. Miller a big debt. 00:12:14.60\00:12:17.73 He saved the lives of millions of babies 00:12:17.77\00:12:21.17 because he invented soy milk. 00:12:21.20\00:12:23.30 Thank you, boys and girls. 00:12:23.34\00:12:26.31 Welcome to our Bible study time, 00:12:26.34\00:12:28.34 isn't it exciting to learn about 00:12:28.38\00:12:29.91 amazing people like Daniel? 00:14:25.63\00:14:27.40 Well Caleb, could you please read verse 6? 00:14:27.43\00:14:30.77 "And whoever does not fall down and worship 00:14:33.54\00:14:37.44 shall be cast immediately into the midst 00:14:37.47\00:14:39.67 of a burning fiery furnace." 00:14:39.71\00:14:42.21 Does that sound like forced worship to you? 00:14:42.24\00:14:45.35 Yes! 00:14:45.38\00:14:46.72 Yes, I think so. 00:14:46.75\00:14:48.58 Verse 7 tells us that the sound of the horn, 00:14:48.62\00:14:51.69 flute, harp and lyre with all kinds of music 00:14:51.72\00:14:55.89 all the people, nations and languages fell down 00:14:55.92\00:14:59.09 and worshiped King Nebuchadnezzar's golden image. 00:14:59.13\00:15:02.76 That is everyone 00:15:02.80\00:15:04.27 except Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. 00:15:04.30\00:15:08.17 Now some of the Chaldeans, 00:15:08.20\00:15:09.90 the so-called wise men 00:15:09.94\00:15:11.81 were jealous of the ruling positions 00:15:11.84\00:15:13.84 given to Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. 00:15:13.88\00:15:16.95 They thought this was the perfect opportunity 00:15:16.98\00:15:19.31 to get rid of them, 00:15:19.35\00:15:20.68 so they dobbed them into the king 00:15:20.72\00:15:22.65 for not bowing down to the golden image. 00:15:22.68\00:15:25.35 How's that for gratitude? 00:15:25.39\00:15:27.16 These were the men whose lives Daniel 00:15:27.19\00:15:29.22 saved by telling the king about the dream. 00:15:29.26\00:15:32.43 Anyway, 00:15:32.46\00:15:33.80 what did the Chaldeans tell the king 00:15:33.83\00:15:35.36 about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego? 00:15:35.40\00:15:37.97 Jireh would you please read verse 12? 00:15:38.00\00:15:40.37 "These men, O king, 00:15:43.71\00:15:45.04 have not paid due regard to you. 00:15:45.07\00:15:47.21 They do not serve your gods or worship the golden image 00:15:47.24\00:15:50.78 which you have set up." 00:15:50.81\00:15:52.25 Yes, King Nebuchadnezzar was furious. 00:15:52.28\00:15:55.98 He could hardly believe anyone would defy his orders, 00:15:56.02\00:15:59.62 let alone Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. 00:15:59.65\00:16:02.79 These men had proven to be reliable and trustworthy 00:16:02.82\00:16:06.26 in overseeing the affairs of Babylon, 00:16:06.29\00:16:09.06 so the king commanded that they be brought to him 00:16:09.10\00:16:11.93 and he offered them a second chance 00:16:11.97\00:16:14.70 but with a warning. 00:16:14.74\00:16:16.34 Chemiah, could you please read the last half of verse 15?
