Hello there. Happy Sabbath. 00:00:01.36\00:00:02.73 Come on in. We're about to meet with the King. 00:00:02.76\00:00:05.13 ¤ ¤ 00:00:05.17\00:00:51.11 Hello everyone. It's great to see you back with us to 00:00:51.15\00:00:53.42 worship the King. How are you Auntie Cecily? 00:00:53.45\00:00:55.62 I'm very well thank you Auntie 00:00:55.65\00:00:57.55 Nat and I'm so glad to be here 00:00:57.59\00:00:59.45 being able to worship the King again. 00:00:59.49\00:01:01.29 Yes the week has zoomed by and I can't believe the kids are 00:01:01.32\00:01:05.93 back with us already. How are you all today. Good. Oh that's 00:01:05.96\00:01:09.40 great. Now Auntie Cecily, I know you want to say a big hello to 00:01:09.43\00:01:12.87 someone who's been watching the program. 00:01:12.90\00:01:14.47 Yes. I want to say hello to Eloise from Queensland. Hello 00:01:14.50\00:01:18.31 Eloise. Hello. Hey Auntie Cecily you're from Queensland aren't 00:01:18.37\00:01:23.65 you. Yes. And it's just a lovely 00:01:23.68\00:01:26.11 place to live. I love the beaches and the weather and 00:01:26.15\00:01:30.12 delicious tropical fruit. 00:01:30.15\00:01:31.59 Oh yum, my favorite. That sounds wonderful doesn't it. 00:01:31.65\00:01:35.19 Now who else do we have to say hello to. Oh Teddy, you are so 00:01:35.22\00:01:39.66 quiet sitting there. Welcome Teddy to our worship time. 00:01:39.69\00:01:44.70 Aunt Cecily, can you please say a prayer for us. 00:01:44.73\00:01:46.67 Yes. Dear Father in heaven, we thank you so much for keeping us 00:01:46.70\00:01:50.54 safe through another week and we pray that you would be with us 00:01:50.57\00:01:54.38 as we worship you now. In Jesus' name. Amen. 00:01:54.41\00:01:58.58 Amen. Thanks Auntie Cecily. Do you know, we have a blessing box 00:01:58.61\00:02:01.88 that tells us about some blessings that we can share with 00:02:01.92\00:02:05.89 others on the Sabbath. Mia would you like to open the box 00:02:05.95\00:02:09.89 and have a look inside? 00:02:09.92\00:02:13.29 Visit a sick person who is in hospital or a nursing home. 00:02:13.33\00:02:16.56 Wow. That would be a nice thing to do wouldn't it? It would be a 00:02:16.60\00:02:20.60 real bright spot to their day. Do you sometimes visit someone 00:02:20.64\00:02:24.41 who is sick and needs cheering up. Can you think of something 00:02:24.47\00:02:28.21 you can take when you visit someone sick? Mia. 00:02:28.24\00:02:30.38 A bunch of flowers. 00:02:30.41\00:02:31.75 Ah, that would be beautiful, wouldn't it. It would show them 00:02:31.78\00:02:34.35 how much you care. It's a good idea, too, to check with the 00:02:34.38\00:02:37.79 nurses that it's okay to visit them, but most of the time it's 00:02:37.82\00:02:41.19 okay. Boys and girls, have you visited someone who is not well 00:02:41.22\00:02:44.66 in their home or hospital or a nursing home to show how much 00:02:44.69\00:02:48.20 Jesus loves them. If you have, we'd love to hear about it at 00:02:48.23\00:02:51.73 www. adaywiththeking. com. dwk@eabnaustralia. org. au 00:02:51.77\00:02:54.64 Aunt Cecily. I now you have a blessing to share with us as 00:02:54.67\00:02:57.97 well. Yes. Remember last Sabbath we 00:02:58.01\00:03:00.28 spoke about the battle of Jericho. Just as God fought the 00:03:00.31\00:03:04.95 battle of Jericho for Joshua, God will fight our battles for 00:03:04.98\00:03:09.78 us as we prepare our hearts and minds for heaven. Our story 00:03:09.82\00:03:14.59 today is about how a peace treaty was made without 00:03:14.62\00:03:18.59 consulting God and the trouble that it brought to Israel. We 00:03:18.66\00:03:22.46 shouldn't make treaties with this world that will prevent us 00:03:22.50\00:03:26.53 from living for Jesus. In all our decisions we need to pray 00:03:26.57\00:03:30.97 and ask God's will for us first. This builds our trust and our 00:03:31.01\00:03:35.54 faith in Him and it helps us to believe in the promises of the 00:03:35.58\00:03:39.61 Bible. Now I want to leave you with another lovely promise. 00:03:39.65\00:03:45.69 It's found in Luke 21:34-36 and Jesus is speaking and He says 00:03:45.72\00:03:50.99 But take heed to yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with 00:03:51.03\00:03:56.46 carousing, drunkenness and cares of this life and that day come 00:03:56.50\00:04:01.57 upon you unexpectedly for it will come as a snare 00:04:01.60\00:04:05.14 on all those who 00:04:05.17\00:04:06.78 dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch, therefore, and 00:04:06.81\00:04:11.38 pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all 00:04:11.41\00:04:15.78 these things that will come to pass and to stand before the 00:04:15.82\00:04:19.89 Son of Man. So remember to prepare your hearts for Jesus 00:04:19.92\00:04:23.96 and to believe in God's promises. 00:04:23.99\00:04:26.33 Wow. Thanks Auntie Cecily. Making sure our hearts are 00:04:26.36\00:04:29.66 connected to Jesus through prayer is really important. 00:04:29.70\00:04:32.93 I can see that Pastor Rick has joined us. Thanks so much Pastor 00:04:32.97\00:04:37.91 Rick. I'm glad to be here, especially 00:04:37.94\00:04:39.87 because it's the Sabbath. 00:04:39.91\00:04:41.24 Children, tell me, is it 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or the 7th day 00:04:41.28\00:04:45.25 that the Lord gave us to worship. Seventh. He gave us 00:04:45.28\00:04:49.78 every day, but the seventh is a special day, isn't it? Now 00:04:49.82\00:04:52.52 I've got a song called The Seventh is the Sabbath of 00:04:52.55\00:04:55.52 the Lord. So let's try and sing it together. 00:04:55.56\00:05:00.90 Pastor Rick can we sing My Lord Knows the Way Through the 00:05:36.87\00:05:41.17 Wilderness? 00:05:41.20\00:05:42.54 That's one of my favorite songs and it's a really lovely song 00:05:42.57\00:05:46.24 because it tells me that Jesus leads us also. 00:05:46.27\00:05:50.68 Can we sing it again? 00:06:23.24\00:06:24.58 Pastor Rick can we please sing I Am So Glad? 00:07:00.85\00:07:03.12 I'm so glad you asked could we sing that song because 00:07:03.18\00:07:06.29 it's lovely to be able to sing songs about Jesus. 00:07:06.32\00:07:09.42 Thanks Pastor Rick. Singing praises to God really lifts our 00:08:19.16\00:08:22.93 spirits. And now Dr. John has another inspiring story for us. 00:08:22.96\00:08:26.70 Let's go and listen. 00:08:26.74\00:08:28.57 Hi boys and girls. I'm Dr. John. 00:08:28.60\00:08:31.04 And welcome back to story time. 00:08:31.07\00:08:33.44 And welcome back to boys and girls everywhere. I want to tell 00:08:33.48\00:08:38.48 you a story about a little boy with a big name, strange name. 00:08:38.51\00:08:43.95 His name was Griffith Francis Jones All the way in Wales, way 00:08:43.99\00:08:49.36 on the other side of the world. And as he grew up he discovered 00:08:49.39\00:08:54.80 he wasn't really growing up. He was very, very short. In fact, 00:08:54.86\00:08:59.03 he wasn't any taller than you boys here. He was only about 00:08:59.07\00:09:04.11 that tall. And he was very smart and when he was 15, he thought 00:09:04.14\00:09:08.31 what am I 00:09:08.34\00:09:09.68 going to do with myself? I'm too small to be much good. So he 00:09:09.71\00:09:13.52 went to sea as a cabin boy. Now a cabin boy has to clean the 00:09:13.55\00:09:17.75 decks, make the beds, cook the food, wash the floor, clean the 00:09:17.79\00:09:22.16 toilets. And after a while he thought I can do better than 00:09:22.19\00:09:26.23 that. So he started to study. He said, I'm going to become a 00:09:26.26\00:09:31.03 captain. He studied so hard that by the time he was 26, he had 00:09:31.07\00:09:36.04 the title of master mariner. Very few people ever get that 00:09:36.07\00:09:40.98 title. He could sail anywhere in the world. He didn't use a GPS. 00:09:41.01\00:09:45.11 He had to use instruments to see where the sun was and the stars 00:09:45.15\00:09:49.32 so he could navigate. And he had such a tidy ship. One day he was 00:09:49.35\00:09:53.49 walking along and he saw a piece of paper on the deck. 00:09:53.52\00:09:57.63 And he thought, That's not good enough on my ship. He picked it 00:09:57.66\00:10:00.30 up. He was about to throw it away and he saw that it was 00:10:00.33\00:10:05.47 about the Bible and he read it and he gave his heart to Jesus. 00:10:05.53\00:10:09.07 From that moment he decided he was going to be a missionary. 00:10:09.10\00:10:13.68 Well he went back home and he married a girl who was older 00:10:13.71\00:10:20.05 and taller and stronger. But they were very happy. They 00:10:20.08\00:10:26.35 lived together for many, many years. Mr. and Mrs. Jones. And 00:10:26.39\00:10:32.53 he became Pastor Jones and when he got married he put on his 00:10:32.56\00:10:38.43 wedding certificate missionary instead of master mariner and 00:10:38.47\00:10:43.91 finally they said, you're not good at the jobs that you do 00:10:43.94\00:10:48.28 here because he worked in a health store and he had to give 00:10:48.34\00:10:52.65 somebody a massage and he looked on the packet of the 00:10:52.68\00:10:56.25 salts and it said rub the salt into their back. And he gave a 00:10:56.28\00:11:01.12 big man a bath and then he had to stand on a stool because he 00:11:01.16\00:11:06.46 was so short. How'd you like to have that rubbed in your back? 00:11:06.49\00:11:13.40 Pretty rough stuff. He started to rub and he started to glow 00:11:13.44\00:11:18.81 red all right and redder and redder until the man said, Hey 00:11:18.84\00:11:24.21 stop! So he knocked the container and there was salt 00:11:24.25\00:11:28.72 all over the ceiling and the walls and the floor and the boss 00:11:28.75\00:11:33.15 came in and said you're sacked. And so he became a master 00:11:33.19\00:11:37.96 mariner. He came out to the Pacific and they gave him his 00:11:37.99\00:11:43.47 own boat. And this is the Melanesia on the day that it was 00:11:43.50\00:11:48.74 launched. And if you look there you can't even see him, he's 00:11:48.77\00:11:52.41 such a short man. So they had to take another photo. And there he 00:11:52.44\00:11:58.28 is, standing there next to his wife. Pastor G. F. Jones or 00:11:58.31\00:12:04.15 Captain Jones. In fact, they loved him so much they called 00:12:04.19\00:12:07.32 him Jonesey. You know he went everywhere. No missionary ever 00:12:07.36\00:12:12.46 sailed more than Pastor Jones. One day in the Solomon's his 00:12:12.49\00:12:17.27 wife got sick, so sick with malaria that they said she's going to die. She was 00:12:17.30\00:12:22.07 unconscious. And while she was unconscious his heart was 00:12:22.10\00:12:25.87 breaking. He got a tape measure, she was lying on the bed and he 00:12:25.91\00:12:30.45 started to measure her. What do you think he was measuring her 00:12:30.48\00:12:35.42 for? Yes? A coffin. Certainly, it was a coffin. And then he 00:12:35.45\00:12:40.36 marked on the floor where he was going to take the wood and build 00:12:40.39\00:12:45.09 a coffin and he marked it with chalk. But you know, Mrs. Jones 00:12:45.13\00:12:49.40 got better and when she sat up and she looked at that on the 00:12:49.43\00:12:56.47 floor, she thought, that looks like a coffin. Well she gave him 00:12:56.50\00:13:01.61 a hard time over that and they laughed and laughed. But you 00:13:01.64\00:13:06.31 know they lived such a long time and no missionary ever did a 00:13:06.35\00:13:10.89 greater job. He could not get lost. He knew every reef, every 00:13:10.92\00:13:15.42 small island in the Pacific; Fiji, Samoa, Solomon Islands, 00:13:15.46\00:13:19.59 New Guinea, Australia, he knew the whole lot. A wonderful 00:13:19.63\00:13:23.73 little man who became a giant for God. 00:13:23.77\00:13:26.94 Thank you boys and girls. 00:13:26.97\00:13:29.70 Hi boys and girls. Welcome to our Bible study. If you haven't 00:13:29.74\00:13:32.87 got your Bibles ready yet, go get them now so that you can 00:13:32.91\00:13:35.78 follow along with us. Matthew can you please say a prayer to 00:13:35.81\00:13:38.68 open our Bible study. 00:13:38.71\00:13:40.92 Dear Lord, thank you for loving us so much. Please help us to 00:13:40.98\00:13:44.65 understand the verses in the Bible as we read them in the 00:13:44.69\00:13:48.46 study today. Be with the children joining us at home. 00:13:48.52\00:13:52.26 In Jesus' name. Amen. 00:13:52.29\00:13:53.63 Amen. Thank you Matthew. So we're going to continue reading 00:13:53.66\00:13:56.80 the book of Joshua and today we're going to look at some very 00:13:56.83\00:14:00.94 interesting stories. Anna, can you start us off please and 00:14:00.97\00:14:05.04 start in Joshua 9:3-6. 00:14:05.07\00:14:07.54 But when the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had 00:14:07.58\00:14:13.92 to Jericho and Ai, they worked craftily and pretended to be 00:14:13.95\00:14:19.25 ambassadors. And they took old sacks on their donkeys, old wine 00:14:19.32\00:14:24.46 skins torn and mended, old and patched sandals on their feet 00:14:24.49\00:14:29.20 and old garments on themselves; and all the bread of their 00:14:29.23\00:14:33.80 provision was dry and moldy. And they went to Joshua, to the 00:14:33.84\00:14:39.47 camp at Gilgal and said to him and to the men of Israel, We 00:14:39.51\00:14:44.61 have come from a far country. Now, therefore, make a covenant 00:14:44.65\00:14:49.72 with us. 00:14:49.75\00:14:51.09 Mmm. Thanks Anna. So the Gibeonites were a group of 00:14:51.12\00:14:54.46 people living in the land of Canaan. They were spread across 00:14:54.49\00:14:58.96 four cities. One of them was a great royal city called the City 00:14:58.99\00:15:03.40 of Gibeon. So a group of men dressed themselves up in old, 00:15:03.43\00:15:07.54 tattered clothes, took provisions that were moldy to 00:15:07.57\00:15:12.54 give the illusion that they'd come from a faraway place. 00:15:12.57\00:15:16.21 Verse 6 tells us, that Anna just read, they wanted to make a 00:15:16.24\00:15:20.32 covenant or a peace treaty with Joshua so he wouldn't harm their 00:15:20.35\00:15:25.09 cities. Matthew can you please read Joshua 9:7-9 and let's see 00:15:25.12\00:15:29.86 what happens. 00:15:29.89\00:15:31.63 Then the men of Israel said to the Hivites, Perhaps you dwell 00:15:31.69\00:15:35.56 among us; so how can we make a covenant with you? But they 00:15:35.60\00:15:39.23 said to Joshua, We are your servants and Joshua said to them 00:15:39.27\00:15:42.00 Who are you and where do you come from? So then said to him, 00:15:42.07\00:15:45.77 From a very far country, your servants have come because of 00:15:45.84\00:15:49.11 the name of the Lord your God for we have heard of His fame 00:15:49.14\00:15:52.41 and all that He did in Egypt. 00:15:52.45\00:15:54.38 Thanks Matthew. So upon further questioning by both the 00:15:54.45\00:15:58.15 Israelites and Joshua, the Gibeonites deny that they are 00:15:58.19\00:16:02.52 from Canaan. In Deuteronomy 7:2 God had warned, through 00:16:02.56\00:16:06.80 Moses, that when the Israelites came into the land of Canaan 00:16:06.83\00:16:12.13 they were not to make any covenants with the Canaanites 00:16:12.17\00:16:15.90 because God knew that this would lead to idol worship and 00:16:15.94\00:16:19.67 spiritual decline. The Gibeonites knew this 00:16:19.71\00:16:23.01 and they lied and they said they came from a land far beyond 00:16:23.04\00:16:28.48 Canaan. Bethany, can you please read Joshua 9:14-16. 00:16:28.52\00:16:32.95 Then the men of Israel took some of their provisions but 00:16:32.99\00:16:37.39 they did not ask counsel of the Lord. So Joshua made peace with 00:16:37.43\00:16:40.96 them and made a covenant with them to let them live. And the 00:16:41.00\00:16:44.47 rulers of the congregation swore to them. And it happened at the 00:16:44.50\00:16:47.94 end of three days after they made a covenant with them that 00:16:47.97\00:16:51.67 they heard that they were their neighbors who dwelt near them. 00:16:51.71\00:16:56.11 Okay, so Joshua made an unwise decision. He didn't consult God. 00:16:56.14\00:17:00.55 He went ahead and made a peace treaty with the Gibeonites 00:17:00.58\00:17:04.92 believing their lie. How many days later did they find out? 00:17:04.95\00:17:09.12 Three. Three days later. Even though the Gibeonites had got 00:17:09.16\00:17:13.26 their peace treaty through lying because Joshua had made an oath 00:17:13.29\00:17:17.37 or a promise in the presence of the Lord, they could not reverse 00:17:17.40\00:17:21.40 the treaty. Let's see what happens next. Caleb can you 00:17:21.44\00:17:25.14 please read Joshua 10:3-4. 00:17:25.17\00:17:27.34 Therefore, Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem sent to Horan king of 00:17:27.38\00:17:36.52 Hebron, Piram king of Jarmuth, Japhia king of Lachish and Debir 00:17:36.55\00:17:43.46 king of Eglon saying, Come up to me and help me that we may 00:17:43.49\00:17:49.13 attack Gibeon, for it has made peace with Joshua and with the 00:17:49.16\00:17:54.80 children of Israel. 00:17:54.84\00:17:56.17 Thanks Caleb. You did well, some of those names are a bit tricky 00:17:56.20\00:17:59.67 aren't they. So there were five kings that had declared to go 00:17:59.71\00:18:03.21 up and make war with the Gibeonites for making a peace 00:18:03.24\00:18:06.21 treaty with the Israelites. So even though the Gibeonites had 00:18:06.28\00:18:10.09 secured the peace treaty by lying, they had given up their 00:18:10.12\00:18:13.52 idol worship and agreed to worship the Israelites' God. 00:18:13.56\00:18:16.89 Therefore, Joshua had to honor the covenant he made with them 00:18:16.93\00:18:21.13 and go to the Gibeonites rescue. This time Joshua consulted God. 00:18:21.16\00:18:24.93 Do you think that's a good idea? Yes. Always good to consult God 00:18:25.00\00:18:28.67 first. And we have just read in verse eight that God promised 00:18:28.70\00:18:31.01 to be with Joshua and win the battle for them. They marched 00:18:31.04\00:18:35.88 all night and arrived in the morning. Let's see what God does 00:18:35.91\00:18:40.05 Auntie Cecily can you read Joshua 10:11 please. 00:18:40.08\00:18:42.38 And it happened as they fled before Israel and were on the 00:18:42.42\00:18:47.39 descent of Beth Horon, that the Lord cast down large hail stones 00:18:47.42\00:18:52.49 from heaven on them as far as Azekah and they died. There were 00:18:52.53\00:18:57.57 more who died from the hail stones than the children of 00:18:57.60\00:19:01.14 Israel killed with the sword. 00:19:01.17\00:19:02.87 Oh, so God sent a very big hail storm to fall on the enemy, but 00:19:02.90\00:19:08.28 something happened. Anna, can you please read Joshua 10:12-13. 00:19:08.31\00:19:12.78 Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered 00:19:12.81\00:19:17.22 up the Amorites before the children of Israel. And he said 00:19:17.25\00:19:21.26 in the sight of Israel, Sun stand still over the Gibeon and 00:19:21.29\00:19:23.76 moon in the valley of Aijalon. So the sun stood still and the 00:19:23.83\00:19:30.00 moon stopped till the people had revenge upon their enemies. 00:19:30.03\00:19:34.40 Is this not written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood 00:19:34.44\00:19:38.14 stood still in the midst of heaven and did not hasten to go 00:19:38.17\00:19:41.81 down for about a whole day. 00:19:41.84\00:19:44.71 Thank you. So Joshua knew he needed more time to fight the 00:19:44.75\00:19:49.75 enemy. So he prayed and he asked God to lengthen the day 00:19:49.78\00:19:55.36 by keeping the sun from going down and God answered his 00:19:55.39\00:20:00.93 prayer. Verse 14 tells us it's the only time in history that 00:20:00.96\00:20:04.13 it's the only time in history that God has heeded a man's 00:20:04.17\00:20:08.04 voice and allowed the sun to stand still. Isn't that awesome? 00:20:08.10\00:20:11.57 Now if we were to continue reading the Bible, it tells us 00:20:11.61\00:20:14.94 that many areas in Canaan were conquered for the children of 00:20:14.98\00:20:19.05 Israel. By this time, Joshua was old and God wanted Joshua to 00:20:19.08\00:20:23.52 divide the land amongst the Israelites and it was up to them 00:20:23.55\00:20:27.19 to subdue the land in their territory. Now we have a big map 00:20:27.22\00:20:30.83 here and it shows us who got what portion of the land. 00:20:30.86\00:20:35.26 I might get you to point to a few Cecily. We've got Simeon 00:20:35.30\00:20:39.60 down in the bottom, the purple area. We've got Judah; that 00:20:39.63\00:20:44.14 tribe had quite a large area. We've got Dan and Benjamin and 00:20:44.17\00:20:48.14 Ephraim. Now the green bit above is actually the tribe of 00:20:48.21\00:20:52.65 Manasseh and the tribe of Manasseh had two areas, one on 00:20:52.68\00:20:57.09 one side of the Jordan, yeah over there, thanks Cecily and 00:20:57.12\00:21:01.12 then one back over into the main area. Thank you. And then 00:21:01.16\00:21:05.69 We've got Issachar, Zebulon, Asher and Naphtali and then on 00:21:05.73\00:21:09.10 the other side of the Jordan, the east side, we've got the 00:21:09.13\00:21:13.87 other half tribe of Manasseh, Gad and Reuben. Okay. Now do you 00:21:13.90\00:21:18.14 remember there were two spies all those years before that gave 00:21:18.17\00:21:22.41 a good report. Can you remember who they were, Anna? 00:21:22.44\00:21:24.91 Joshua and Caleb. 00:21:24.95\00:21:26.38 Yes it was and after the dividing of all that land that 00:21:26.41\00:21:30.19 you see there, Caleb came to Joshua to claim the land that 00:21:30.22\00:21:34.82 God promised. Matthew, can you please read Joshua 14:12-13. 00:21:34.89\00:21:40.00 Now, therefore, give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke 00:21:40.03\00:21:45.90 in that; for you heard in that day how the Anakin were there 00:21:45.93\00:21:50.94 and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that 00:21:50.97\00:21:55.51 the Lord will be with me and I shall be able to drive them out 00:21:55.54\00:22:00.02 as the Lord said. And Joshua blessed him and gave Hebron to 00:22:00.05\00:22:04.49 Caleb the son of Jephunneh as an inheritance. 00:22:04.55\00:22:08.46 Wow. So Caleb wanted the mountain that the 10 spies said 00:22:08.49\00:22:12.89 couldn't be conquered all those years before because of the 00:22:12.96\00:22:16.56 giants. And we're going to talk a bit about more giants later 00:22:16.60\00:22:21.00 on. Caleb was now 85 years old and he wanted the town of Hebron 00:22:21.04\00:22:25.41 to show with God's strength he and his tribe could conquer 00:22:25.47\00:22:30.71 those giants. What faith he had. Aunt Cecily can you please show 00:22:30.75\00:22:35.05 us where the town of Hebron is that Caleb wanted as his 00:22:35.08\00:22:39.39 in heritance. Right there. Thank you. Okay. Now Bethany can you 00:22:39.42\00:22:42.89 please read Joshua 19:49-50. 00:22:42.92\00:22:46.23 When they had made an end of dividing the land as an 00:22:46.26\00:22:50.73 inheritance according to their borders, the children of Israel 00:22:50.77\00:22:54.20 gave an inheritance among them to Joshua the son of Nun. 00:22:54.24\00:22:57.17 According to the word of the Lord they gave him the city 00:22:57.21\00:23:00.48 which he asked for, Timnath- Serah, in the mountains of 00:23:00.51\00:23:03.75 Ephraim. And he built the city and dwelt in it. 00:23:03.78\00:23:06.72 So this was the city that Joshua received. Let's have a look at 00:23:06.78\00:23:10.29 our Torch Light, Mrs. White's writings, to see what they shine 00:23:10.32\00:23:13.79 on the verse. Kate can you please read that for us. 00:23:13.82\00:23:19.39 To him, as to Caleb, a special promise of inheritance had been 00:23:19.43\00:23:22.20 given, yet he asked for no extensive province, but only a 00:23:22.23\00:23:26.63 single city. They gave him the city which he asked,... and he 00:23:26.67\00:23:30.81 he built the city and dwelt therein. The name given to the 00:23:30.84\00:23:35.74 city was Timnath-serah, the portion that remains,-a standing 00:23:35.78\00:23:40.25 testimony to the noble character and unselfish spirit of the 00:23:40.32\00:23:45.02 conqueror, who, instead of being the first to appropriate the 00:23:45.05\00:23:51.39 spoils of conquest, deferred his claim until the humblest of his 00:23:51.43\00:23:57.73 people had been served. 00:23:57.77\00:24:00.17 Thanks Kate. So Joshua received his portion with a humble spirit 00:24:00.24\00:24:04.51 and this shows his character of a true leader. Now Aunt 00:24:04.54\00:24:08.64 Cecily I'm just going to get you to show the children where that 00:24:08.71\00:24:13.31 is, Timnath-serah. That's where his claim was there. Now if we 00:24:13.35\00:24:17.42 were to continue reading the book of Joshua he, like Moses, 00:24:17.45\00:24:21.46 warned the children of Israel to be faithful to the 00:24:21.49\00:24:25.86 commandments. J J can you read Joshua 24:29 please. 00:24:25.89\00:24:30.17 Now it came to pass after these things that Joshua the son of 00:24:30.20\00:24:34.67 Nun, the servant of the Lord, died being one-hundred and ten 00:24:34.70\00:24:39.11 years old. 00:24:39.14\00:24:40.48 Wow. So Joshua lived a long and full life didn't he? We're going 00:24:40.51\00:24:44.08 do to our memory verse found in Deuteronomy 10:20 and we're 00:24:44.11\00:24:50.25 going to read that together. You've all got it there. 00:24:50.29\00:24:55.12 You shall fear the Lord your God; you shall serve Him and to 00:24:55.16\00:25:01.30 Him you shall hold fast and take oaths in his name. 00:25:01.33\00:25:08.14 Thank you so much. So that's a good verse for us to claim 00:25:08.17\00:25:12.07 isn't it? Just like Joshua we can also choose to serve God. 00:25:12.11\00:25:15.48 Thank you boys and girls for reading along with us. Matthew 00:26:37.89\00:26:40.73 what did you learn about the King today? 00:26:40.76\00:26:43.50 That praying to Jesus keeps us close to Him. 00:26:43.53\00:26:46.20 Yes it certainly does. It's a good thing to remember. Aunt 00:26:46.23\00:26:49.47 Cecily are you ready to sing our good bye song? 00:26:49.50\00:26:53.14 Yes. Are you ready children?
