Come and 00:00:58.52\00:00:59.85 join us in our worship time together. Hello Auntie Cecily. 00:00:59.89\00:01:03.02 It's wonderful that you're here with us today. 00:01:03.16\00:01:04.96 Hello Auntie Nat. 00:01:04.99\00:01:06.33 Hello children. It's awesome that you're here with us today. 00:01:06.36\00:01:10.60 It's great that you're here to meet the King. And Teddy, hello 00:01:10.63\00:01:15.14 Teddy, it's lovely that you're here too. Auntie Cecily, would 00:01:15.20\00:01:19.67 you like to say a prayer for us to open our worship time. 00:01:19.71\00:01:23.48 Dear Father in heaven, thank you for the Sabbath day and thank 00:01:23.51\00:01:28.05 you for bringing us safely through another week. We pray 00:01:28.08\00:01:31.42 Your Holy Spirit will be with us as we worship you. 00:01:31.45\00:01:34.86 In Jesus' name, Amen. 00:01:34.89\00:01:36.69 Amen. Do you know this is a great time to reflect on our 00:01:36.73\00:01:40.56 week and think about the blessings that God has sent us. 00:01:40.60\00:01:44.57 Now Chloe you have a very special blessing to tell us. 00:01:44.60\00:01:48.57 Grandma and Grandpa got baptized at church. 00:01:48.60\00:01:53.64 That's so wonderful Chloe. Thanks for sharing that with us. 00:01:53.68\00:01:56.68 Auntie Cecily, you have a blessing for us as well all 00:01:56.71\00:01:59.58 about the Sabbath. Can you tell us about that? 00:01:59.61\00:02:01.85 Yes. Last time we spoke about how Jesus says it's lawful to do 00:02:01.88\00:02:06.55 good on the Sabbath. God also wants us to be mindful of how 00:02:06.59\00:02:11.13 we behave on the Sabbath. God wants us to get involved in 00:02:11.19\00:02:15.70 activities that improve our ability to communicate with Him. 00:02:15.76\00:02:21.64 God gives us some very good advice in Isaiah 58:13,14. He 00:02:21.67\00:02:26.54 asks us not to do our own pleasure or our own ways on 00:02:26.57\00:02:31.38 the Sabbath. God wants our full attention on the Sabbath so we 00:02:31.41\00:02:36.48 can honor Him. God promises a blessing if we do this. Spending 00:02:36.52\00:02:41.56 time in nature is a great way to do this with our family. 00:02:41.59\00:02:46.09 Enjoying the creation that our Creator made for us reminds us 00:02:46.16\00:02:50.63 of how much God loves all of us. 00:02:50.67\00:02:54.40 Thank you Auntie Cecily. That was beautiful. 00:02:54.47\00:02:56.20 Do you know one way that we can worship God on the Sabbath is to 00:02:56.24\00:03:00.78 worship him in song and we have Pastor Rick here to help us. 00:03:00.81\00:03:04.91 Thanks Pastor Rick. 00:03:04.95\00:03:06.28 Hi girls and boys. Let's sing 00:03:06.31\00:03:08.32 the song Remember the Sabbath. 00:03:08.35\00:03:10.32 Let's do it again. 00:03:53.03\00:03:54.36 Can we sing Praise Him Praise Him? 00:04:37.47\00:04:40.08 Yes we can. 00:04:40.11\00:04:43.68 Pastor Rick can we sing God Is So Good¤ 00:05:20.85\00:05:25.42 Yes we certainly can. 00:05:25.45\00:05:27.42 Thanks Pastor Rick. It's wonderful to praise God in song. 00:06:03.22\00:06:07.70 Now Anna, we discovered a blessing at Sunnyside this week. 00:06:07.73\00:06:12.13 Will we share that with the children at home? 00:06:12.17\00:06:15.00 Yes. Okay let's go have a look at that. 00:06:15.04\00:06:20.91 Hello boys and girls, my name is Dr. John Hammond. Welcome to 00:06:20.98\00:06:25.68 the Australian home of Mrs. Ellen White. Come me with me, 00:06:25.71\00:06:30.42 I've got some stories to tell you. 00:06:30.45\00:06:34.39 Thank you for coming back as we tell another story about Ellen 00:06:34.42\00:06:44.60 when she lived here in Sunnyside You know, they lives down in 00:06:44.63\00:06:48.97 Sidney, they lived in New Zealand. They lived in Melbourne 00:06:49.00\00:06:53.88 They were looking for a place to build a college. But you know 00:06:53.91\00:06:57.95 when you build it costs a lot of money and you've got to buy 00:06:57.98\00:07:01.98 the land and they had almost no money. And then one day 00:07:02.02\00:07:06.96 somebody said there is a plot of land up at a place called 00:07:07.02\00:07:12.03 Courenbong. Nobody had heard of Courenbong. And the land is 00:07:12.06\00:07:17.73 cheap. Why is it cheap? Because it has the worst soil in 00:07:17.77\00:07:24.37 Australia. Terrible soil, nothing will grow. A few scrubby 00:07:24.41\00:07:32.05 trees, a bit of grass, swamp. And they said the land is cheap. 00:07:32.08\00:07:36.55 And they bought it. 00:07:36.58\00:07:37.92 And Ellen came up in the train and she had some experts from 00:07:37.95\00:07:42.99 the government; tall, serious men. They were smart because 00:07:43.02\00:07:48.33 they knew all about the soil and growing things and they 00:07:48.36\00:07:53.64 looked around the land and they weren't smiling. They said, have 00:07:53.67\00:07:59.54 you bought this land? Not good for anything. They said it is so 00:07:59.57\00:08:04.98 poor that if a bandicoot... Now you guys know what a bandicoot 00:08:05.01\00:08:09.82 is but my listeners out there. It's like a rabbit, pointy nose, 00:08:09.85\00:08:16.12 it's got a pouch. But they said if a bandicoot walked from one 00:08:16.16\00:08:20.13 side of this land to the other he'd have to get his mommy to 00:08:20.20\00:08:24.93 give him a cut lunch to take it with him because he would 00:08:24.97\00:08:30.07 starve. Well Ellen said you watch. And she bought this place 00:08:30.11\00:08:34.88 built this house and she grew some corn. Now I've got some 00:08:34.91\00:08:40.55 corn here and you'll be smelling it because it has just been 00:08:40.58\00:08:45.45 cooked. And they say that the Courenbong corn in this soil, 00:08:45.49\00:08:52.49 that used to be so terrible is the best corn in the whole world 00:08:52.56\00:08:59.23 Smell that! Oh! Can you smell it? Can you smell it behind the 00:08:59.27\00:09:05.17 TV. This was grown on the soil that they said wouldn't even 00:09:05.21\00:09:10.55 support a bandicoot. Well she went off to a nursery and she 00:09:10.58\00:09:15.58 wanted to buy some trees. And she said I want a peach tree. 00:09:15.62\00:09:20.16 And the man said this little lady doesn't know much about 00:09:20.19\00:09:24.69 growing things. He said, Ah yes, where do you live? 00:09:24.73\00:09:30.97 Courenbong. Oh that's the worst place in the world to grow a 00:09:31.00\00:09:35.54 peach tree. We'll send one of our men along and we will help 00:09:35.60\00:09:40.68 you and we will show you how to grow a peach tree. And Ellen 00:09:40.71\00:09:45.78 said, You can send your man along, but God has told me how 00:09:45.81\00:09:51.15 to grow a peach tree. Oh really? She said yes. I'll dig a deep 00:09:51.19\00:09:56.66 hole and I'll put some soil at the bottom, then I'll put a 00:09:56.69\00:10:01.50 layer of rocks. Then I'll put some more soil. I'll put some 00:10:01.56\00:10:06.33 fertilizer and some more fertilizer and some more soil 00:10:06.37\00:10:11.27 and then I'll plant the tree. And the nursery man who was 00:10:11.31\00:10:15.54 thinking before, Ha, what is a little old lady called Ellen 00:10:15.58\00:10:20.72 know about planting peach trees. He said, Oh boy, I think I'll 00:10:20.75\00:10:26.15 come back and try your peaches. She planted the tree and from 00:10:26.19\00:10:31.56 one tree the next year in one season she got the most 00:10:31.59\00:10:37.57 beautiful crop of peaches. Do you like peaches? Yes. Do you 00:10:37.60\00:10:43.94 like peaches. Hope you do. Because these are the most 00:10:43.97\00:10:49.81 gorgeous fruit you will ever see. White flesh. Can I try a 00:10:49.84\00:10:56.79 piece? No, it would be cruel if I ate this in front of you. But 00:10:56.82\00:11:00.46 I'm going to give you a piece. And you know, as I look at these 00:11:00.49\00:11:06.49 lovely peaches I think of a God who made trees for us. In fact, 00:11:06.53\00:11:12.53 He has told us the most important tree in the whole 00:11:12.57\00:11:16.30 world in the whole universe is the tree of life. And when we 00:11:16.34\00:11:21.14 get to heaven it's have all sorts of fruit. I hope that it 00:11:21.18\00:11:25.65 has peaches on it, because peaches are a favorite fruit all 00:11:25.68\00:11:30.49 around the world because God gave it to us and Ellen taught 00:11:30.52\00:11:35.82 the experts a thing or two because God showed her how to 00:11:35.86\00:11:41.13 plant fruit. Isn't that nice. Thank you. 00:11:41.16\00:11:44.67 Good day boys and girls. Happy Sabbath. Welcome to our Bible 00:11:44.73\00:11:47.70 study. I hope you have your Bibles ready so you can follow 00:11:47.74\00:11:50.81 along with us and the children. Auntie Cecily, can you please 00:11:50.87\00:11:53.91 say a prayer for us. 00:11:53.94\00:11:56.58 Yes. Dear Father, we just thank you for our Bibles and we pray 00:11:56.64\00:12:00.22 that you would give us understanding as we read 00:12:00.25\00:12:03.35 your word. In Jesus' name, Amen. 00:12:03.39\00:12:05.62 Amen. Now Nick what did we study about last Sabbath? 00:12:05.65\00:12:09.02 Ah, Abraham, no, Jacob and Esau. 00:12:09.06\00:12:12.16 Jacob and Esau, yes. And what did Jacob do, what did he do 00:12:12.19\00:12:14.73 wrong? He stole Esau's birthright. 00:12:14.76\00:12:17.37 He did, didn't he? And Rebekah his mom and Jacob didn't wait 00:12:17.40\00:12:21.80 on the Lord, did they? They did things how they thought should 00:12:21.84\00:12:25.71 be done and it got them into a lot of trouble. So much trouble 00:12:25.74\00:12:30.01 that Esau threatened to do what to Jacob. Kill him. To kill him. 00:12:30.05\00:12:34.08 So for his safety his mom and dad had to send him away. Let's 00:12:34.12\00:12:38.12 read about that. Okay, Liam, Genesis 28:1-4. 00:12:38.15\00:12:42.69 Then Isaac called Jacob and blessed him and charged him and 00:12:42.72\00:12:47.30 said to him, Ye shall not take a wife from the daughters of 00:12:47.33\00:12:52.97 Canaan. Arise, go to Paddan-aram to the house of Bethuel, your 00:12:53.00\00:12:58.57 mother's father and take yourself a wife there of the 00:12:58.61\00:13:04.05 daughters of Laban your mother's brother. May God almighty bless 00:13:04.08\00:13:09.15 you and make you fruitful and multiply you that you may be an 00:13:09.18\00:13:14.19 assembly of peoples and give you the blessing of Abraham to you 00:13:14.22\00:13:19.56 and your descendants with you that you may inherit the land in 00:13:19.59\00:13:24.87 which you are a stranger which God gave to Abraham. 00:13:24.90\00:13:28.67 Mmm. So even though Jacob had lied to his father Isaac, Isaac 00:13:28.70\00:13:34.54 reconfirmed the blessing and sent him away to his wife's 00:13:34.58\00:13:38.51 family in Paddan-aram to find a wife. Because he did not want to 00:13:38.55\00:13:45.22 have a wife that worshipped idols. Esau had married some 00:13:45.25\00:13:49.32 Canaanite women and had caused lots of problems, lots of grief. 00:13:49.36\00:13:52.96 And so they wanted him to go away to find a wife who 00:13:52.99\00:13:56.67 worshipped and one and only God. Yeah. Okay, Ella can you read 00:13:56.70\00:14:02.34 Genesis 28:10-16, please. 00:14:02.37\00:14:05.71 Then Jacob went out from Beersheba and went towards 00:14:05.74\00:14:11.58 Haran. So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night 00:14:11.61\00:14:15.45 because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that 00:14:15.48\00:14:19.22 place and put it under his head and lay down in that place to 00:14:19.25\00:14:24.43 sleep. Then he dreamed and behold a ladder was set on the 00:14:24.46\00:14:28.80 earth whose top reached the heaven and there the angels 00:14:28.83\00:14:33.57 of God were ascending and descending on it. And behold 00:14:33.60\00:14:37.94 the Lord God stood above it and said I am the Lord God of 00:14:37.97\00:14:42.54 Abraham your father and your God of Isaac. The land on which 00:14:42.58\00:14:47.08 you lie I will give you and your descendants. Also your 00:14:47.12\00:14:51.99 shall be as the dust of the earth. You shall spread abroad 00:14:52.02\00:14:56.83 to the west and the east, to the north and the south. And in you 00:14:56.86\00:15:00.40 and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be 00:15:00.43\00:15:04.13 blessed. Behold I am with you and will keep you wherever you 00:15:04.17\00:15:08.34 go and I will bring you back to this land for I will not leave 00:15:08.37\00:15:12.81 you until I have done what I have spoken to you. And Jacob 00:15:12.87\00:15:17.25 woke up from his sleep and said surely the Lord is in this place 00:15:17.28\00:15:23.28 and I did not know it. 00:15:23.32\00:15:24.75 Mmm. So God promises Jacob that he's blessed just like his 00:15:24.79\00:15:30.46 grandfather Abraham and his father Isaac. And do you know 00:15:30.49\00:15:34.33 what he promises Jacob that he'll bring him back home 00:15:34.36\00:15:38.10 eventually. That must have been a great comfort to Jacob because 00:15:38.13\00:15:41.64 he was a bit lonely out there in that desert on his own and he 00:15:41.67\00:15:45.41 was away from his family. Auntie Cecily, you have got something 00:15:45.44\00:15:48.94 to read for us from our Torch Light, Mrs. White's writings, 00:15:48.98\00:15:52.61 to shine on that verse to help us to understand it more. 00:15:52.65\00:15:56.25 Can you read that for us? 00:15:56.28\00:16:02.42 But God did not forsake Jacob. 00:16:02.46\00:16:06.76 His mercy was still extended 00:16:06.80\00:16:11.03 to his erring distrustful servant. The Lord 00:16:11.07\00:16:14.70 compassionately revealed just what Jacob needed, a Saviour. 00:16:14.77\00:16:20.31 God is so good. Jacob was scared that God had taken away his 00:16:20.34\00:16:25.28 blessing because of his sin. Jacob was very sorry for 00:16:25.31\00:16:29.78 his sin and deeply repentant to God. In God's mercy, he 00:16:29.82\00:16:34.26 showed Jacob in the dream that the blessing and birthright were 00:16:34.29\00:16:38.66 Jacob's. God forgave Jacob and promised to be with him. So if 00:16:38.69\00:16:43.03 read Genesis 29, it tells us that Jacob arrived in 00:16:43.06\00:16:46.13 Paddan-aram and he found Rachel, uncle Laban's daughter and God 00:16:46.17\00:16:51.27 led him straight to the family. Isn't that good. So there was a 00:16:51.31\00:16:56.38 happy reunion and Jacob goes to stay with his Uncle Laban. 00:16:56.41\00:17:01.55 Now Nick, you've got a verse to read for us. Genesis 29:15-24 00:17:01.58\00:17:06.72 and that tells us what happens. 00:17:06.76\00:17:09.19 Then Laban said to Jacob, because you're my relative 00:17:09.22\00:17:12.89 should you therefore serve me for nothing. Tell me, what 00:17:12.96\00:17:16.56 should your wages be. Now Laban had two daughters. The name of 00:17:16.60\00:17:20.97 the elder was Leah and the name of the younger was Rachel. 00:17:21.00\00:17:25.41 Leah's eyes were delicate but Rachel was of beautiful form and 00:17:25.44\00:17:30.01 appearance. Now Jacob loved Rachel. He said, I'll serve you 00:17:30.05\00:17:34.25 seven years for Rachel, your youngest daughter. And Laban 00:17:34.28\00:17:38.55 said, it is better that I give her to you than I should give 00:17:38.59\00:17:43.56 her to any other man. Stay with me. So Jacob served seven years 00:17:43.63\00:17:47.93 for Rachel and they seemed only a few days to him because of the 00:17:47.96\00:17:52.57 love he had for her. Then Jacob said to Laban, give me my wife 00:17:52.60\00:17:57.87 for my days are fulfilled and that I may go in to her. And 00:17:57.91\00:18:02.38 Laban gathered all the men of the place and made a feast. Now 00:18:02.41\00:18:06.85 it came to pass that in the evening he took Leah as his 00:18:06.88\00:18:11.82 daughter and brought her to Jacob and he went in to her. 00:18:11.85\00:18:17.09 Laban gave his maid Zilpah to his daughter Leah as a maid. 00:18:17.13\00:18:22.40 Mmm. So Kate can you continue reading Genesis 29:25-30. 00:18:22.43\00:18:27.57 So it came to pass in the morning that behold it was Leah 00:18:27.60\00:18:32.71 and he said to Laban, What is this you have done to me? Was it 00:18:32.74\00:18:37.48 not for Rachel that I served you. Why then have you deceived 00:18:37.55\00:18:42.62 me? And Laban said, it must not be done so in our country to 00:18:42.65\00:18:47.72 give the younger before the firstborn. Fulfill her week and 00:18:47.76\00:18:52.46 we will give this one also for the service which you served 00:18:52.49\00:18:58.87 still another seven years. Then Jacob did so and fulfilled her 00:18:58.90\00:19:05.24 week. So he gave him his daughter Rachel as wife also and 00:19:05.27\00:19:11.31 Laban gave his maid Bilhah to his daughter Rachel as a maid. 00:19:11.35\00:19:17.22 Then Jacob went in to Rachel and he also loved Rachel more than 00:19:17.25\00:19:23.06 Leah and he served with Laban still another seven years. 00:19:23.09\00:19:27.43 Wow! So what's happening? Laban deceived Jacob and he got the 00:19:27.46\00:19:33.44 wrong girl didn't he? Jacob was extremely... was he pretty 00:19:33.47\00:19:38.67 angry? Yeah. Yes he was pretty angry. And he had to work 00:19:38.71\00:19:43.91 another seven years for Rachel. This lying is not good is it? 00:19:43.95\00:19:49.08 You know Jacob deceived his father and his brother for the 00:19:49.12\00:19:53.22 blessing and birthright. Does it pay to deceive and lie. No. It 00:19:53.25\00:19:57.16 doesn't. You know even though God forgave Jacob and God was 00:19:57.19\00:20:01.60 going to pour out all the blessings to him, the consequences of Jacob's sin 00:20:01.63\00:20:04.90 were still with him. He had to marry two women. Do you think 00:20:04.93\00:20:07.80 that was a happy life for him having two wives at the same 00:20:07.84\00:20:11.41 time? No. No, there was a lot of strife, there was lots of 00:20:11.44\00:20:14.94 strife between the two wives and who could have the more children 00:20:14.98\00:20:19.25 It wasn't a very happy time. But despite all the issues God still 00:20:19.31\00:20:23.55 blessed Jacob with many children Ben, can you please read 00:20:23.59\00:20:27.26 Genesis 31:1-3 to see what happens. 00:20:27.29\00:20:31.59 Now Jacob heard the words of Laban's sons saying Jacob has 00:20:31.63\00:20:35.60 taken away all that was our father's and from what was our 00:20:35.63\00:20:39.50 father's he has acquired all this wealth. And Jacob saw the 00:20:39.53\00:20:43.27 countenance of Laban and indeed it was not favorable toward him 00:20:43.30\00:20:47.21 like before. Then the Lord said to Jacob, Return to the land of 00:20:47.24\00:20:51.11 your fathers and to your family and I will be with you. 00:20:51.15\00:20:54.35 Mmm. So Laban's sons were even becoming jealous of Jacob's 00:20:54.38\00:20:57.92 wealth and Laban wasn't happy with things anymore. And if we 00:20:57.95\00:21:01.66 were to read in verse seven Laban deceived Jacob with his 00:21:01.69\00:21:06.19 changing his wages 10 times. But do you remember that we read 00:21:06.23\00:21:10.73 that God promised all those years ago that God would protect 00:21:10.77\00:21:14.50 him and take him back home again. Sarah can you please read 00:21:14.54\00:21:18.21 for us Genesis 31:17-18. 00:21:18.24\00:21:21.44 Then Jacob rose and set his sons and his wives on camels and he 00:21:21.48\00:21:26.01 carried away all his livestock and all his possessions which he 00:21:26.05\00:21:30.55 had gained, his acquired livestock which he had gained 00:21:30.59\00:21:34.56 in Paddan-aram to go to his father Isaac in the land of 00:21:34.59\00:21:38.53 Canaan. 00:21:38.56\00:21:39.89 Mmm. So after 20 years Jacob came home. Did God keep His 00:21:39.93\00:21:43.26 promise Yes. He did. He brought him back home and he was so 00:21:43.30\00:21:47.47 blessed. Let's quickly read our memory verse. Genesis 28:15. 00:21:47.50\00:21:51.64 We'll read that together. 00:21:51.67\00:21:53.21 Behold I am with you and will keep you wherever you go. 00:21:53.24\00:22:03.79 Did God take care of Jacob? He did. Thank you boys and girls 00:22:03.82\00:22:07.06 for joining us today in reading the Bible. It was great to have 00:22:07.09\00:22:10.43 you join us.
