Hello there, Happy Sabbath, Come on in. We're about to meet with 00:00:01.90\00:00:05.67 the king. 00:00:05.70\00:00:07.47 ¤ ¤ 00:00:07.50\00:00:08.84 Hello, I'm Auntie Nat. It's great you could all join us to 00:00:52.68\00:00:55.62 meet with the King. We're about to open the Sabbath. Come and 00:00:55.65\00:00:58.52 join our worship time together. 00:00:58.55\00:01:00.46 Auntie Cecily how are you doing? 00:01:00.49\00:01:02.66 Very well, thank you Auntie Nat. 00:01:02.69\00:01:04.79 That's great to have you with us. And hi children. It's great 00:01:04.83\00:01:08.10 that you're here with us today to worship the King. And hello 00:01:08.16\00:01:11.50 Teddie. It's great that you're here as well. Auntie Cecily, 00:01:11.53\00:01:14.87 would you like to say a prayer for us please. 00:01:14.90\00:01:17.47 Dear Lord, thank you for keeping us safe through another week. 00:01:17.51\00:01:21.61 We pray that you would bless all the boys and girls who have 00:01:21.64\00:01:26.61 joined us to worship you this Sabbath. In Jesus' name, Amen. 00:01:26.65\00:01:30.99 Amen. Do you know that this is a great time to reflect on our 00:01:31.02\00:01:35.32 week and count the blessings that God has sent us. Chikkita 00:01:35.36\00:01:39.66 you've got a little blessing for us haven't you? 00:01:39.69\00:01:41.03 Well out friends took our family sailing across the lake 00:01:41.06\00:01:47.40 and it was really fun. 00:01:47.44\00:01:49.40 Thanks Chikkita, that was really good. Auntie Cecily you 00:01:49.47\00:01:52.77 have a blessing to share with us as well about the Sabbath. 00:01:52.81\00:01:57.15 Yes. Remember last Sabbath we spoke about going to church and 00:01:57.18\00:02:01.52 worshipping with other believers on the Sabbath day. Well Jesus 00:02:01.58\00:02:05.89 said in Matthew 12:12 it is lawful to good on the Sabbath. 00:02:05.92\00:02:11.03 God intended the Sabbath to be a spiritual refreshment and a 00:02:11.06\00:02:15.96 delight for us. We can visit people at home who are feeling 00:02:16.00\00:02:20.14 sick or people who are in the hospital or people that are in 00:02:20.17\00:02:25.01 a nursing home. We can also visit people who are lonely and 00:02:25.04\00:02:29.54 who are living on their own and need some cheering up. We can 00:02:29.58\00:02:34.65 help mom or dad prepare a meal on Friday to take to someone in 00:02:34.68\00:02:38.95 need. We can invite someone home for lunch who is visiting our 00:02:38.99\00:02:44.06 church or someone who's lonely. If we know someone who's sad and 00:02:44.09\00:02:48.73 needs encouragement we can get them a card, we could make one 00:02:48.76\00:02:53.67 for them couldn't we, make your own card and tell them how much 00:02:53.70\00:02:58.71 Jesus loves them and that we are praying for them. So the Sabbath 00:02:58.74\00:03:03.65 is about doing kind and helpful things for other people. Perhaps 00:03:03.68\00:03:08.65 before next Sabbath you can pray and ask God to show you how you 00:03:08.68\00:03:13.62 can be a blessing to others on the Sabbath day. 00:03:13.66\00:03:16.32 Wow. Thank you Auntie Cecily. Do you know another way that we 00:03:16.39\00:03:20.63 can worship God on the Sabbath is to praise God in song. 00:03:20.66\00:03:23.67 We have Pastor Rick here with us. 00:03:23.70\00:03:26.90 Hi boys and girls. Let's sing Wide, Wide As the Ocean. 00:03:26.94\00:03:32.67 Can we sing the books of the Bible? 00:04:06.78\00:04:08.71 Yes we can. 00:04:08.74\00:04:12.21 Pastor Rick can we do Into My Heart? 00:05:26.99\00:05:30.03 We certainly can. 00:05:30.06\00:05:31.39 Thanks Pastor Rick. It's great to worship God in song. Nick 00:06:33.56\00:06:37.99 we discovered a blessing at Sunnyside this week. Will you 00:06:38.03\00:06:41.66 share that with the children at home? Yes. Okay, let's go 00:06:41.70\00:06:45.33 have a look at that. 00:06:45.37\00:06:51.07 Hello boys and girls. My name is Dr. John Hammond. Welcome to 00:06:51.11\00:06:55.88 the Australian home of Mrs. Ellen White. Come with me, 00:06:55.91\00:06:59.98 I've got some stories to tell you. 00:07:00.02\00:07:07.22 I want to tell you the story about little Roy Thompson. 00:07:07.26\00:07:13.29 He was 10 and he was just like any other 10-year-old boy. 00:07:13.33\00:07:19.27 He loved to run. He didn't like school too much, but he loved to 00:07:19.30\00:07:25.17 play football and he had a football. And his friends used 00:07:25.21\00:07:27.91 to play with him and one day They were chasing the football 00:07:27.94\00:07:30.65 and it went over the fence. And Roy jumped over and they were 00:07:33.05\00:07:37.42 seeing who was going to be there first. When he jumped over the 00:07:37.45\00:07:41.82 he didn't land terribly well and he landed on his 00:07:41.86\00:07:47.03 knee. But the five boys were coming over and they all landed 00:07:47.06\00:07:54.07 on top of him and his knee went pop, crunch, ouch, yell, and he 00:07:54.10\00:08:01.08 limped off and almost immediately his leg started to 00:08:01.11\00:08:05.95 swell. And it got worse and worse. He had fractured a bone 00:08:05.98\00:08:10.99 there called the knee cap or patella. He went to bed. It got 00:08:11.02\00:08:15.42 bigger and bigger and they called in the doctors. Now when 00:08:15.49\00:08:19.46 a doctor comes in and he smiles you know it's not going to be 00:08:19.49\00:08:24.20 too bad. But when they look very serious, something like that, 00:08:24.27\00:08:28.94 you know you a problem. And as the weeks went past the 00:08:28.97\00:08:34.78 swelling got worse and finally they say Roy we're going to 00:08:34.81\00:08:40.08 have to cut off your leg above your knee, it's so infected. 00:08:40.12\00:08:45.29 But Ellen found out because her daddy was working here at 00:08:45.32\00:08:49.72 Sunnyside; and he was building the new college buildings. 00:08:49.76\00:08:54.06 And she said, bring him up here. You know he could have stayed 00:08:54.10\00:08:58.40 for one week, two weeks. He stayed six months. In fact he 00:08:58.43\00:09:04.54 stayed a whole year. And Ellen's friend Sarah she got there and 00:09:04.57\00:09:09.24 she wrapped it in bandages and she got charcoal and she made 00:09:09.28\00:09:14.52 what we call a poultice and it drew the poison out and finally 00:09:14.55\00:09:18.55 all this muck came out and bits of bone, three pieces of bone. 00:09:18.59\00:09:24.66 And he got better. And he loved living with her and the family 00:09:24.69\00:09:30.33 came up and they loved here in Courenbong. And here I have a 00:09:30.37\00:09:36.24 picture. You walked through this door when you came in and there 00:09:36.30\00:09:41.84 is Mrs. White and there is Sarah the nurse and away along here 00:09:41.88\00:09:47.98 standing at the front is little Roy Thompson and because he had 00:09:48.02\00:09:55.02 his injury, the family moved up and bought a house here. And his 00:09:55.06\00:10:02.33 daddy was such a good builder. He built the college chapel, he 00:10:02.36\00:10:09.60 built all the halls and they became well known in the 00:10:09.64\00:10:15.34 district. They settled here and Minerva had many children and 00:10:15.38\00:10:21.58 they had children and the children had children and I want 00:10:21.62\00:10:27.69 you to meet two of them. Come here Grady and come here Riley. 00:10:27.72\00:10:34.66 Now you stand here and Riley stand here and Riley, I want you 00:10:34.73\00:10:43.17 to tell all the boys and girls behind the camera what is your 00:10:43.20\00:10:51.61 real name, what's your name? 00:10:51.65\00:10:55.15 Riley (who) Thompson. 00:10:55.18\00:10:57.82 Oh. And what's your name? 00:10:57.85\00:11:00.49 Grady Thompson. 00:11:00.52\00:11:02.16 And I want to tell you something else, boys and girls. 00:11:02.19\00:11:06.59 The reason I know the Thompsons who are the same family of 00:11:06.66\00:11:11.03 little Roy is that Riley and Grady are my grandsons. 00:11:11.07\00:11:15.77 And I'm very proud. I'm so glad. But you know what. They would 00:11:15.80\00:11:21.14 never had come here if little Roy hadn't smashed his knee. 00:11:21.18\00:11:26.41 Now Roy grew up. He's dead now but I spoke to his son yesterday 00:11:26.45\00:11:32.15 He's 92 years of age and he said his daddy kept his leg all his 00:11:32.22\00:11:37.83 life. You know the Bible has told us that I will bless you up 00:11:37.86\00:11:44.97 to the 10th generation if you serve Me because Riley and Grady 00:11:45.00\00:11:50.51 are the sixth generation all the way down from the Mr. Thompson 00:11:50.54\00:11:56.01 who came and worked here. And so God blesses people who 00:11:56.04\00:12:00.82 serve Him and if you serve Him your children and their children 00:12:00.88\00:12:04.22 and their grandchildren and their great grandchildren they 00:12:04.25\00:12:07.02 will follow Jesus too. Isn't that a lovely thing to look 00:12:07.06\00:12:09.79 forward to. Thank you 00:12:09.82\00:12:13.16 Hi boys and girls. Happy Sabbath Welcome to our Bible study. 00:12:13.19\00:12:16.63 I hope you are ready to follow along with us and you have your 00:12:16.67\00:12:19.73 Bibles. Auntie Cecily could you please say a prayer for us 00:12:19.77\00:12:22.84 before we read our Bibles? 00:12:22.87\00:12:24.41 Yes. Dear God we thank you for your word and we pray that the 00:12:24.47\00:12:29.14 children at home and here will understand what we read. 00:12:29.18\00:12:33.05 For Jesus' sake. Amen. 00:12:33.08\00:12:34.75 Amen! Kate what did we study about last Sabbath? 00:12:34.78\00:12:38.79 How Abraham's servant found a wife for Isaac. 00:12:38.82\00:12:42.76 Isaac. Yeah. And Isaac said a prayer to God about? 00:12:42.82\00:12:48.03 He wanted to have some kids so they had twins. 00:12:48.06\00:12:53.23 Yeah, Rebekah eventually had twins didn't she? And what were 00:12:53.27\00:12:56.14 their names. 00:12:56.17\00:12:57.51 Jacob and Esau. 00:12:57.57\00:12:58.91 That's right. We're going to study in the Bible today what 00:12:58.94\00:13:02.21 happened to those two brothers. Nick, you've got our first 00:13:02.24\00:13:05.51 reading today. Can you read for us Genesis 25:29-34? 00:13:05.55\00:13:12.19 Now Jacob cooked a stew and Esau came in from the field and was 00:13:12.25\00:13:17.46 weary and Esau said to Jacob please feed me with that same 00:13:17.49\00:13:22.23 red stew for I am weary. Therefore, his name was called 00:13:22.26\00:13:26.94 Edom. But Jacob said, sell me your birthright as of this day. 00:13:27.00\00:13:32.01 And Esau said, Look I'm about to die, so what is this 00:13:32.04\00:13:35.98 birthright to me? Then Jacob said, Swear to me as of this 00:13:36.01\00:13:40.38 day, so he swore to him and sold his birthright to Jacob. 00:13:40.42\00:13:44.95 And Jacob gave Esau bread and stew of lentils and then he ate 00:13:44.99\00:13:49.49 and drank and rose up and went his way. 00:13:49.52\00:13:54.03 Thus Esau despised his birthright. 00:13:54.06\00:13:57.57 Mmm. So Esau he wasn't happy to wait until he got home to his 00:13:57.60\00:14:01.94 family for something to eat. He saw what Jacob was cooking and 00:14:01.97\00:14:06.31 he wanted it right away. But Jacob said he could have some 00:14:06.34\00:14:10.55 if he sold him his? Birthright. His birthright. Do you know 00:14:10.58\00:14:14.45 what? A birthright is something very important, something to 00:14:14.48\00:14:18.35 treasure. It was a life of service and who had the 00:14:18.39\00:14:23.09 birthright with the line that Jesus was going to come. 00:14:23.12\00:14:27.06 But did Esau like his birthright No. We just read that he 00:14:27.10\00:14:31.17 despised his birthright. Dearie me, so I think it was easy to 00:14:31.20\00:14:35.24 sell his birthright wasn't it? Because he really wasn't 00:14:35.27\00:14:36.77 interested. He was just so busy roaming the mountains, hunting. 00:14:36.81\00:14:42.88 He liked that better. So Jacob, on the other hand, he wanted 00:14:42.91\00:14:48.42 nothing better than to serve God. He wanted to be like his 00:14:48.45\00:14:53.15 grandfather Abraham and commune with God and I think he wanted 00:14:53.19\00:14:57.83 the birthright. And we're to study about that. Let's read in 00:14:57.89\00:15:03.80 Genesis 27:3-4. Ella, you're going to read that. Isaac's very 00:15:03.83\00:15:08.64 old here and he's going blind and he's worried he's going to 00:15:08.67\00:15:13.44 die. So Ella read that for us. 00:15:13.48\00:15:14.81 Now therefore please take your weapons your quiver and your bow 00:15:14.84\00:15:19.91 and go out to the field and hunt a game for me. And make me 00:15:19.95\00:15:25.25 savory food such as I love and bring it to me that I may eat 00:15:25.29\00:15:30.59 that my soul may bless you before I die. 00:15:30.63\00:15:33.73 Mmm. So Isaac has asked his son Esau to go on one of his hunts. 00:15:33.76\00:15:38.33 Now Esau liked hunting didn't he? Yeah. To find some nice food 00:15:38.40\00:15:43.20 for his father to eat because he wanted to bestow the final 00:15:43.24\00:15:47.81 blessing and birthright on Esau. But who was listening? Who do 00:15:47.84\00:15:52.41 you think might have been listening to that request? 00:15:52.45\00:15:55.22 Rebekah. Rebekah was. Now Rebekah when she prayed to God 00:15:55.25\00:15:59.95 God told her that the oldest would serve the youngest didn't 00:15:59.99\00:16:04.69 He? And so she always thought that Jacob deserved the 00:16:04.73\00:16:08.46 the birthright, not Esau. So she told Jacob to go out to the 00:16:08.50\00:16:14.94 flock and get a kid and to bring it back and she would prepare 00:16:15.00\00:16:20.84 it for Isaac and Jacob would get the blessing instead of Esau. 00:16:20.88\00:16:27.12 Let's find out what happens. Okay. Now Elijah you're going to 00:16:27.15\00:16:34.26 Genesis 27:16 because they did something to disguise Jacob's 00:16:34.29\00:16:40.50 hands because what was Esau when he was born? Remember what 00:16:40.53\00:16:45.97 was he? He was hairy. Okay Elijah you read that for us. 00:16:46.00\00:16:51.37 And she put the skins of the kid of the goat on his hand and 00:16:51.44\00:16:55.28 and on the smooth part of his neck. 00:16:55.31\00:16:57.25 Mmm. So they went to a lot of trouble to trick Isaac, didn't 00:16:57.28\00:17:01.58 they? Kate you're going to read for us Genesis 27:18-23. 00:17:01.62\00:17:07.02 So he went to the father and said, my father, and he said 00:17:07.06\00:17:11.69 here I am, who are you my son? Jacob said to his father, I am 00:17:11.73\00:17:16.36 Esau your firstborn. I have done just as you told me. 00:17:16.40\00:17:20.74 Please arise, sit and eat of my game that your soul may bless 00:17:20.77\00:17:26.17 me. But Isaac said to Esau, how is it that you have found it so 00:17:26.21\00:17:31.58 quickly my son. And he said because the Lord your God 00:17:31.61\00:17:34.25 brought it to me. But Isaac said to Jacob, Please come near that 00:17:34.28\00:17:38.95 I may feel you my son whether you are really my son Esau or 00:17:38.99\00:17:44.19 not. So Jacob went near to Isaac his father and he felt and he 00:17:44.23\00:17:48.86 said, The voice is Jacob's voice but the hands are the hands of 00:17:48.90\00:17:53.54 Esau. When he did not recognize him because his hands were hairy 00:17:53.60\00:17:58.21 like his brother Esau's hands so he blessed him. 00:17:58.24\00:18:01.04 Mmm. So were Rebekah and Jacob successful in tricking Isaac? 00:18:01.11\00:18:08.45 Yes. They were. Ben we're going to look at our Torch Light to 00:18:08.48\00:18:12.69 see what Mrs. White's writing shine on this subject. Can you 00:18:12.72\00:18:16.89 read that for us please. 00:18:16.93\00:18:24.60 God had declared that Jacob 00:18:24.63\00:18:25.97 should receive the birthright and His word would have been 00:18:26.00\00:18:28.90 fulfilled in his own time had they waited in faith for Him 00:18:28.94\00:18:31.91 to work for them. 00:18:31.94\00:18:33.27 Mmm. So were Rebekah and Jacob patient and faithful. No. They 00:18:33.31\00:18:36.71 They weren't because they didn't wait on God to do it in His 00:18:36.75\00:18:40.72 timing. They went ahead of God. Where else have we read that? 00:18:40.75\00:18:45.02 Remember we read with Sarah and Abraham how they didn't wait 00:18:45.05\00:18:48.72 because they didn't trust that God would give them a baby and 00:18:48.76\00:18:52.39 Abraham took a second wife didn't he because they didn't 00:18:52.43\00:18:55.13 trust God. 00:18:55.16\00:18:56.50 And the same thing is happening here. So Jacob leaves his 00:18:56.53\00:19:00.37 father's tent after he's deceived him. Esau turns up with 00:19:00.40\00:19:04.77 the food that he went out and hunted for. Let's find out Aunt 00:19:04.81\00:19:08.71 Cecily what happens when Esau and Isaac find out they've been 00:19:08.74\00:19:12.61 tricked. We're going to read Genesis 27:33-35. 00:19:12.65\00:19:20.12 Then Isaac trembled exceedingly and said, Who. Where is the one 00:19:20.16\00:19:25.33 who hunted game and brought it to me. I ate all of it before 00:19:25.36\00:19:30.63 you came and I have blessed him and indeed he shall be blessed. 00:19:30.67\00:19:35.90 When Esau heard the words of his father he cried with an 00:19:35.94\00:19:40.31 exceedingly great and bitter cry and said to his father, bless me 00:19:40.34\00:19:46.48 me also, O my father. But he said your brother came with 00:19:46.51\00:19:51.72 deceit and has taken away your blessing. 00:19:51.75\00:19:54.26 Do you think Esau was angry? Ah, he was extremely angry. 00:19:54.29\00:19:59.69 Let's read, Sarah, in Genesis 27:43-44 to 00:19:59.73\00:20:08.44 see what happens. 00:20:08.47\00:20:10.17 Now therefore my son Obey my voice. Arise, flee to my brother 00:20:10.21\00:20:15.98 Laban in Herran and stay with him a few days until your 00:20:16.01\00:20:20.65 brother's fury turns away. 00:20:20.68\00:20:22.38 Mmm. Because Esau had threatened to kill Jacob. 00:20:22.42\00:20:25.32 Goodness me. So does lying pay? No Jacob had to leave his family 00:20:25.35\00:20:30.89 and he never saw his mother again. Let's see what our Bibles 00:20:30.93\00:20:36.43 say. We're going to read our memory verse together in 00:20:36.46\00:20:41.34 Proverbs 12:22. Because it tells us something very special. 00:20:41.37\00:20:44.77 Okay all ready? 00:20:44.81\00:20:51.28 Lying is an abomination to the Lord but those who deal 00:20:51.31\00:20:56.92 truthfully are his delight. 00:20:56.95\00:21:00.46 So that tells us that God is not happy when we lie, just like 00:21:00.52\00:21:04.93 he wasn't happy when Jacob lied to his father. God loves it when 00:21:04.96\00:21:09.50 we tell the truth. You know both Rebekah and Jacob were very 00:21:09.53\00:21:13.84 sorry for their sin and they repented. They realized that 00:21:13.87\00:21:17.67 they should have left the whole situation in God's hands. 00:21:17.71\00:21:21.41 They did what they thought was right and it got them into a lot 00:21:21.44\00:21:25.41 of trouble. But you know what? God loved Jacob very much even 00:21:25.45\00:21:29.28 though he did the wrong thing. Thank you boys and girls for 00:21:29.32\00:21:33.22 joining us today in reading the Bible. Ask God to 00:21:40.26\00:21:43.63 help you today to have more faith to wait on Him. It can 00:21:43.67\00:21:47.00 help keep you from being tempted and deceiving people into doing 00:21:47.04\00:21:50.91 what you think is best. God loves you so much.
