Welcome to our worship time. 00:01:01.22\00:01:04.63 Hello Auntie Nat. 00:01:04.66\00:01:05.99 And hello children. Welcome to our worship time. It's great 00:01:06.03\00:01:09.20 that you could come here to meet the King. Auntie Cecily would 00:01:09.26\00:01:12.30 you like to say a prayer for us so that we can open our worship 00:01:12.33\00:01:15.37 time together. 00:01:15.40\00:01:16.74 Yes. Dear Lord, thank you for taking care of us during the 00:01:16.77\00:01:20.64 week and thank you for bringing us safely to another Sabbath 00:01:20.68\00:01:24.95 day. We're grateful that we are all here together to worship you 00:01:24.98\00:01:29.25 In Jesus' name, Amen. 00:01:29.28\00:01:31.12 Amen. Do you know this is a great time to reflect on our 00:01:31.15\00:01:35.72 blessings that God has sent us this week. Jameeka can you have 00:01:35.76\00:01:38.96 a blessing to tell us? 00:01:38.99\00:01:40.90 God blessed me this week by giving me an opportunity to 00:01:40.96\00:01:45.67 meet my friend _ and he wants to come to church. 00:01:45.70\00:01:52.54 That's great Jameeka. Thanks for sharing that with us. Auntie 00:01:52.57\00:01:55.94 Cecily you're going to share something with us as well 00:01:55.98\00:01:58.08 about the Sabbath. 00:01:58.11\00:02:00.18 Yes. The last two Sabbaths we've talked about resting on the 00:02:00.22\00:02:04.29 Sabbath. Today I want to talk to you about what we can do on the 00:02:04.32\00:02:08.79 Sabbath. In the Bible, Jesus gave an example for us to follow 00:02:08.82\00:02:14.43 Mark 1:24 and Luke 4:16 in the New Testament tell us that Jesus 00:02:14.46\00:02:19.83 went to church on the Sabbath day or in the time of Jesus it 00:02:19.87\00:02:24.77 was called the synagogue. God wants us to fellowship with 00:02:24.81\00:02:29.68 other people who worship on the Sabbath. Here we can worship God 00:02:29.71\00:02:34.48 together through singing and praying as well as learning from 00:02:34.52\00:02:39.05 the teaching of the Bible and sharing the goodness of our God 00:02:39.09\00:02:44.09 with others. God realizes that it is important for us to have 00:02:44.13\00:02:48.96 the companionship of others of like faith. As we learn to 00:02:49.00\00:02:53.23 worship with others, it strengthens our love for others. 00:02:53.27\00:02:57.47 That helps us to grow closer to God. 00:02:57.51\00:03:00.34 Thank you, Auntie Cecily. God is so good. Do you know another way 00:03:00.38\00:03:04.75 we can worship God is through song. We have Pastor Rick here 00:03:04.78\00:03:08.38 today to help us. Thanks Pastor Rick. 00:03:08.42\00:03:10.95 Hello boys and girls. We're 00:03:10.99\00:03:12.59 going to sing My Sabbaths You Shall Keep. 00:03:12.62\00:03:16.93 Pastor Rick can we please sing Rejoice in the Lord Always? 00:04:14.48\00:04:17.99 Absolutely. Ready? 00:04:18.02\00:04:19.49 Pastor Rick, can we please sing In His Time? 00:04:59.89\00:05:08.37 Yes. How many of us know it? All of us? 00:05:08.40\00:05:11.87 Thanks Pastor Rick. It's great to praise God in song. Sarah, 00:06:25.85\00:06:29.52 we discovered a blessing at Sunnyside this week. Will we 00:06:29.55\00:06:33.15 show the children at home about that? Yes. Okay let's go have a 00:06:33.19\00:06:37.13 look at it. 00:06:37.16\00:06:41.90 Hello boys and girls. My name is Dr. John Hammond. Welcome to the 00:06:41.93\00:06:47.10 Australian home of Mrs. Ellen White. Come with me. I've got 00:06:47.14\00:06:52.21 some stories to tell you. 00:06:52.24\00:06:58.71 This building, Sunnyside, where we're sitting was built over 100 00:06:58.75\00:07:05.99 years ago. Let me tell you something about this house. 00:07:06.02\00:07:11.46 It has the hardest timber you have ever seen and I know 00:07:11.49\00:07:16.67 because I bought a house here in Cooranbong built about the 00:07:16.70\00:07:21.70 same time. And I've brought along a piece of wood. This wood 00:07:21.74\00:07:27.78 is so hard that if I put it in water, it sinks. And when I had 00:07:27.81\00:07:33.15 to do some renovations, and I had to hammer a nail in, I had 00:07:33.18\00:07:38.72 to drill it before the nail would go in or dip the tip in 00:07:38.75\00:07:45.39 oil and then put it in. Very hard work. And Mr. Conley was 00:07:45.43\00:07:52.13 one of the builders and he had a little bit of a problem and 00:07:52.17\00:07:57.44 that was a problem that some builders have. If something went 00:07:57.47\00:08:02.71 wrong he would, excuse me, swear. Why would he swear? 00:08:02.74\00:08:09.82 Well if I'm hammering a nail and I'm holding the nail and I've 00:08:09.85\00:08:16.49 got a hammer and I hit it hard and it slides off and gets me on 00:08:16.52\00:08:23.16 the finger, that was Mr. Conley's problem and the other 00:08:23.20\00:08:27.74 problem was he was around the corner when Mrs. White wasn't 00:08:27.80\00:08:33.24 watching after he hit his thumb and he would take something out 00:08:33.27\00:08:38.68 of his pocket, put it in his mouth and set it on fire. 00:08:38.71\00:08:44.55 What was it? A cigarette. Exactly, a cigarette. Mrs. White 00:08:44.59\00:08:49.92 wasn't very happy and Mr. Conley was trying hard to give 00:08:49.96\00:08:55.26 up smoking and swearing. Well one night there was a terrific 00:08:55.30\00:09:00.20 storm here, blowing the tops off the trees, shaking the house, 00:09:00.24\00:09:05.97 rain almost coming in sideways. And next morning Ellen woke up 00:09:06.04\00:09:11.95 at 3 o'clock. Because of all the noise she hadn't slept. And she 00:09:11.98\00:09:17.52 started to write and just as it got daylight she said to Sarah, 00:09:17.55\00:09:23.32 her helper. Saddle up the horse, a baby was born last night and 00:09:23.36\00:09:29.06 we're going to go on a visit. And she knew the baby was 00:09:29.13\00:09:34.04 Mr. Conley's baby. And off they went, over the road, down the 00:09:34.07\00:09:38.24 hill, up towards Mountainsville until they came to the farm. 00:09:38.27\00:09:42.38 It took a long, long time to get in there with water on the road, 00:09:42.41\00:09:46.95 branches on the road, branches everywhere. And they went up to 00:09:47.02\00:09:51.79 the house and knocked on the door. There was a little girl, 00:09:51.82\00:09:57.96 same age as you, same as your name, her name was Sarah and she 00:09:57.99\00:10:03.10 opened the door. She was a bit worried. Ah, has daddy been 00:10:03.13\00:10:08.14 swearing? Is he going to hit the sack? We need this work. Oh, 00:10:08.20\00:10:13.31 maybe he was smoking and he set fire to Sunnyside. But instead 00:10:13.34\00:10:18.51 of that Ellen went in and she said I think a baby was born 00:10:18.55\00:10:24.12 here last night. They said yes. Can I see the baby? She went 00:10:24.15\00:10:28.52 into the room where Mommy was and they couldn't see the baby. 00:10:28.56\00:10:33.53 They pulled back the blanket and there was a little wrinkly-faced 00:10:33.60\00:10:40.04 baby. And its name was John, which is my name. And Ellen said 00:10:40.07\00:10:45.17 I would love to hold the baby. Can I hold the baby. And she 00:10:45.21\00:10:50.21 held the baby. Ellen was getting old. She had a wrinkly face. The 00:10:50.25\00:10:53.82 baby had a wrinkly face and she she put the soft face and she 00:10:53.85\00:10:58.22 held him. Then she said, can I say a prayer? And you know they 00:10:58.25\00:11:02.62 weren't even Christians. But they said please yes pray. 00:11:02.66\00:11:07.06 And she prayed for this baby. But before she gave little John 00:11:07.10\00:11:13.90 back to his mommy she held him up and she said, this baby, look 00:11:13.94\00:11:19.61 after him. He's going to grow and he's going to be a mighty 00:11:19.64\00:11:25.75 worker for God. And he was. He lived for many, many years. He 00:11:25.78\00:11:31.65 became a mighty preacher and when he died, he was 87 years 00:11:31.69\00:11:36.26 old and they put a big rock on his grave from the place where 00:11:36.29\00:11:40.66 he was born. If you go up to the cemetery one of the first graves 00:11:40.70\00:11:46.84 you see is Pastor J. B. Conley. And he became a mighty man for 00:11:46.87\00:11:52.41 God. Ellen White held him up and blessed him in the name of God. 00:11:52.44\00:11:57.28 What a wonderful life he lived and his daddy gave up smoking 00:11:57.31\00:12:02.08 and swearing and became a great worker for God as well. 00:12:02.12\00:12:07.36 Good day boys and girls. Happy Sabbath. Welcome to our Bible 00:12:07.39\00:12:10.43 study. I hope you have your Bibles ready so you can read 00:12:10.46\00:12:13.46 along with us. Auntie Cecily can you please say a prayer for us 00:12:13.50\00:12:17.07 before we read the word. 00:12:17.10\00:12:19.33 Yes. Dear Father, thank You for Your word and thank You for 00:12:19.37\00:12:23.20 your promises. Please help the girls and boys at home and with 00:12:23.24\00:12:27.04 us here to understand what we read. In Jesus' name Amen. 00:12:27.08\00:12:31.38 Amen. Ella what did we study about last Sabbath. 00:12:31.41\00:12:34.58 We studied Abraham and Sarah. 00:12:34.62\00:12:35.98 Mmm. And did God keep His promise? Yes he did. And was 00:12:36.02\00:12:39.62 Abraham faithful? Yes. Yes, and what happened? 00:12:39.65\00:12:42.36 Abraham and Sarah had a son. 00:12:42.39\00:12:45.03 Mmm. And what was his name? Isaac. Isaac and we're going to 00:12:45.09\00:12:49.26 to study about that in the Bible how God provided a very special 00:12:49.30\00:12:52.77 wife for Isaac. So, Liam, can you please read for us 00:12:52.80\00:12:56.67 Genesis 24:2-4. 00:12:56.71\00:13:01.38 So Abraham said to the oldest servant of his house who ruled 00:13:01.41\00:13:07.05 over all that he had, please put your hand under my thigh and I 00:13:07.08\00:13:11.99 will make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of 00:13:12.05\00:13:16.93 the earth that you will not take a wife for my son from the 00:13:16.96\00:13:23.43 daughters of the Canaanites among whom I dwell. But you 00:13:23.47\00:13:29.87 shall go to my country and to my family and take a wife for my 00:13:29.90\00:13:34.18 son Isaac. 00:13:34.21\00:13:36.24 Mmm. So Abraham didn't want a Canaanite woman for his son 00:13:36.28\00:13:40.05 Isaac and the reason being is because they worshipped idols. 00:13:40.08\00:13:43.42 Do we worship idols? No. No we worship the one and true God 00:13:43.45\00:13:47.26 and that's what he wanted his servant to do. Okay, Ella you're 00:13:47.29\00:13:51.06 going to read for us Genesis 24:7. 00:13:51.09\00:13:56.93 The Lord God of heaven who took me from my father's house and 00:13:56.97\00:14:00.20 from the land of my family and who spoke to me and swore to 00:14:00.24\00:14:05.01 me saying, to your descendants I give this land. He will send 00:14:05.04\00:14:09.61 his angel before you and you shall take a wife for my son 00:14:09.64\00:14:14.18 from there. 00:14:14.22\00:14:16.02 Mmm. So Abraham is repeating a promise to his servant that God 00:14:16.05\00:14:20.09 gave him that he will have many descendants and an angel will go 00:14:20.12\00:14:24.09 before him and help him find a wife, because the servant was a 00:14:24.13\00:14:27.60 little bit worried about that. But Abraham was just reassuring 00:14:27.63\00:14:31.20 him that everything was okay. Now Elijah you've got a very 00:14:31.23\00:14:34.67 special reading for from our Torch Light, Mrs. White's 00:14:34.70\00:14:38.07 readings that's going to explain that a little bit more. Can you 00:14:38.11\00:14:41.08 read that for us. 00:14:41.11\00:14:44.51 If there is any subject which should be carefully considered 00:14:44.55\00:14:53.59 and in which the counsel of older and more experienced 00:14:53.62\00:14:57.16 persons should be sought it is the subject of marriage. If ever 00:14:57.19\00:15:00.96 the Bible was needed as a counselor, if ever divine 00:15:01.03\00:15:04.53 guidance should be sought in prayer it is before taking a 00:15:04.57\00:15:07.80 step that binds persons together for life. 00:15:07.84\00:15:11.41 Mmm. So Isaac trusted his father Abraham with the godly wisdom 00:15:11.44\00:15:16.41 that he had that he was going to find the right wife for Isaac 00:15:16.44\00:15:21.42 Elijah, you're going to read for us Genesis 24:10 as well 00:15:21.45\00:15:25.55 thank you. 00:15:25.59\00:15:28.02 Then the servant took 10 of his master's camels and departed for 00:15:28.06\00:15:31.79 all his master's goods were in his hand. And he arose and went 00:15:31.83\00:15:35.53 to Mesopotamia to the city of Nahor. 00:15:35.56\00:15:39.03 Okay, Mesopotamia. Now that was a long way away and Abraham's 00:15:39.07\00:15:43.47 servant took all those camels with him to go get the special 00:15:43.51\00:15:47.91 person that God had for him for Isaac. Now Kate, can you please 00:15:47.94\00:15:52.31 read Genesis 24:12-14 please. 00:15:52.35\00:15:55.42 Then he said, O Lord of my master Abraham, please give me 00:15:55.48\00:16:00.39 success this day and show kindness to my master Abraham. 00:16:00.42\00:16:05.13 Behold here I stand by the well of water and behold the 00:16:05.16\00:16:09.80 daughters of men of the city are coming to draw water. Now let it 00:16:09.86\00:16:15.67 that the young woman who to whom I say please let down your 00:16:15.70\00:16:21.54 pitcher and may I drink and she said drink and I will also give 00:16:21.58\00:16:26.75 your camels a drink, let her be the one you have appointed for 00:16:26.78\00:16:31.52 your servant Isaac. And by this I'll know that you have shown 00:16:31.55\00:16:36.22 kindness to my master. 00:16:36.29\00:16:38.06 Mmm. So Abraham's servant prays to God to show him the right 00:16:38.09\00:16:42.66 wife. Let's read the next verse Auntie Cecily to see whether God 00:16:42.70\00:16:47.20 answered his prayer. That's in Genesis 24:15, 17-19. 00:16:47.24\00:16:52.47 And it happened before he had finished speaking that behold 00:16:52.51\00:16:57.88 Rebekah who was born to Bethuel son of Milcah the wife of Nahor 00:16:57.91\00:17:02.88 Abraham's brother came out with her pitcher on her shoulder. 00:17:02.92\00:17:08.22 Verse 17. And the servant ran to meet her and said, please let 00:17:08.29\00:17:13.29 me drink a little water from your pitcher. So she said, drink 00:17:13.33\00:17:18.20 my lord. Then she quickly let her pitcher down to her hand and 00:17:18.23\00:17:23.04 gave him a drink. And when she finished giving him a drink she 00:17:23.07\00:17:27.58 said, I will draw water for your camels also until they have 00:17:27.61\00:17:32.08 finished drinking. 00:17:32.11\00:17:34.38 Wow, so did God answer Abraham's servant's prayer. Yes. He did 00:17:34.42\00:17:38.05 straight away. God's so good. He led him straight to the 00:17:38.09\00:17:42.69 family. Ben can you please read Genesis 24:26-27 to see what 00:17:42.72\00:17:47.33 happens next. 00:17:47.36\00:17:48.70 Then the man bowed down his head and worshipped the Lord. And he 00:17:48.73\00:17:52.53 said, Blessed by the Lord God of my master Abraham. He has not 00:17:52.57\00:17:56.27 forsaken his mercy and his truth toward my master. As for me 00:17:56.30\00:18:00.78 being on the way the Lord led me to the house of my master's 00:18:00.81\00:18:05.05 brethren. 00:18:05.08\00:18:07.02 Good. So Abraham's servant what does he do? He bows down and 00:18:07.05\00:18:10.85 worships God because he's so grateful that God answered his 00:18:10.89\00:18:14.86 prayer. Isn't that great. Okay. So Abraham's servant with God's 00:18:14.89\00:18:18.83 help found Isaac's wife. He took Rebekah back to Isaac. Let's 00:18:18.86\00:18:24.70 find out what happens to Rebekah. Sarah, you're going to 00:18:24.73\00:18:27.70 read Genesis 25:20-21 please. 00:18:27.74\00:18:31.01 Isaac was 40 years old when he took Rebekah as wife, the 00:18:31.04\00:18:36.38 daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Paddan-aram the sister of 00:18:36.41\00:18:40.95 Laban the Syrian. Now Isaac pleaded with the Lord for his 00:18:40.98\00:18:45.09 wife because she was barren and the Lord granted his plea 00:18:45.12\00:18:49.19 and Rebekah his wife conceived. 00:18:49.22\00:18:51.36 Right. So this is becoming a pretty familiar story isn't it 00:18:51.39\00:18:55.36 about these women not being able to have babies. So Isaac prayed 00:18:55.40\00:18:59.63 to God and He answered Isaac's prayer and Rebekah finally 00:18:59.67\00:19:03.37 became pregnant. But something happened. Liam you're going to 00:19:03.41\00:19:07.08 read for us Genesis 25:22 please 00:19:07.11\00:19:09.84 But the children struggled together within her and she said 00:19:09.88\00:19:16.45 if this is so why am I like this So she went to inquire of the 00:19:16.48\00:19:22.99 Lord. 00:19:23.02\00:19:24.36 Mmm. So her baby was moving so much in her womb she was getting 00:19:24.39\00:19:26.93 a bit worried. She thought she better go pray to God about it 00:19:27.00\00:19:30.70 and ask him what's going on. So Ella, you've got that next verse 00:19:30.73\00:19:34.44 Genesis 25:23. Let's see what God tells us. 00:19:34.47\00:19:37.64 And the Lord said to her, two nations are in your womb, two 00:19:37.67\00:19:42.31 people shall be separated from your body. One people shall be 00:19:42.34\00:19:46.78 stronger than the other and the older shall serve the younger. 00:19:46.82\00:19:51.22 Mmm. So basically God was telling Rebekah that she was 00:19:51.25\00:19:55.92 two twins. Yeah, she was having two babies and that's why there 00:19:55.99\00:20:00.60 was so much movement in her tummy. But something else that 00:20:00.63\00:20:04.63 God told her that was a bit strange. The older would serve 00:20:04.67\00:20:09.17 the younger. Yes okay. Well let's see what happens. Elijah 00:20:09.20\00:20:13.68 can you please read for us Genesis 25:24-26. 00:20:13.71\00:20:18.41 So when the days were fulfilled for her to give birth indeed 00:20:18.48\00:20:22.68 there were twins in her womb and the first came out red. 00:20:22.72\00:20:26.89 He was like a hairy garment all over. So they called his name 00:20:26.92\00:20:31.89 Esau. Mmm. Afterwards his brother came out and his hand 00:20:31.93\00:20:34.90 took hold of Esau's heel. So his name was called Jacob. Isaac was 00:20:34.93\00:20:39.77 60 years old when she bore him. 00:20:39.80\00:20:41.97 Right. So who's the oldest? Who came out first? Esau. And who 00:20:42.00\00:20:46.98 second? Jacob. Jacob, that's right. okay. Let see what 00:20:47.01\00:20:49.41 happens with the boys. Kate can you read Genesis 25:27-28 please 00:20:49.44\00:20:55.48 So the boys grew, and Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the 00:20:55.52\00:21:01.29 field. But Jacob was a mild man dwelling in tents and Isaac 00:21:01.32\00:21:06.70 loved Esau because he ate his game but Rebekah loved Jacob. 00:21:06.73\00:21:12.10 Mmm. So we've had two very different boys here. One liked 00:21:12.13\00:21:17.47 to run free all over the country and the other one loved to hear 00:21:17.51\00:21:21.41 the stories of God. Now if we look at our story today, it's 00:21:21.44\00:21:25.78 all about prayer isn't it and how God answered prayer. 00:21:25.81\00:21:29.28 He answered Isaac's servant's prayer, He answered Rebekah's 00:21:29.35\00:21:33.76 prayer, so God is good. Okay let's quickly go to 00:21:33.79\00:21:37.36 Jeremiah 33:3, our memory verse, and let's read that together. 00:21:37.39\00:21:45.60 You ready?
