Hello there. Happy Sabbath. Come on in. We're about to meet with 00:00:01.36\00:00:06.37 the King. 00:00:06.40\00:00:07.90 ¤ ¤ 00:00:07.94\00:00:53.58 Hi I'm Auntie Nat. It's great that you could all join us to 00:00:53.62\00:00:56.69 meet with the King. We're about to open the Sabbath. Come and 00:00:56.72\00:01:00.36 join our worship time together. Hello Auntie Cecily. Welcome to 00:01:00.42\00:01:04.06 our worship time today. 00:01:04.09\00:01:05.43 Hello Auntie Nat. 00:01:05.46\00:01:06.80 Hello children. Welcome to our worship today. I'm glad you've 00:01:06.83\00:01:10.67 come here to meet the King. Auntie Cecily, could you please 00:01:10.73\00:01:15.14 say a prayer for us before we have our worship. 00:01:15.17\00:01:18.27 Yes. Dear heavenly Father. Thank you for our safe keeping during 00:01:18.34\00:01:22.64 the week. And thank you that we can enjoy the rest on your 00:01:22.68\00:01:27.72 Sabbath day. In Jesus' name Amen 00:01:27.75\00:01:30.79 Amen. Do you know that this is a great time to reflect on our 00:01:30.85\00:01:35.52 week and thank God for the many blessings He's brought us. Sarah 00:01:35.56\00:01:40.20 you've got a blessing to share with us today. 00:01:40.23\00:01:42.53 My grandpa had a pacemaker put into his heart and it was 00:01:42.56\00:01:46.23 successfully installed. He was 86 at the time so I praise God 00:01:46.30\00:01:50.01 for waking him up from the surgery. 00:01:50.04\00:01:52.07 That's great, Sarah. Thanks for sharing that with us. Auntie 00:01:52.14\00:01:55.28 Cecily, you have something to share with us too. Something 00:01:55.31\00:01:58.41 about the Sabbath. 00:01:58.45\00:01:59.78 Yes. Last Sabbath we talked about rest. God rested as an 00:01:59.81\00:02:05.05 example for us and he commands us to rest as well. God wants us 00:02:05.09\00:02:10.66 to keep the Sabbath holy. In Nehemiah 13:15-22 the Bible 00:02:10.69\00:02:17.30 tells us not to do any business work or school work and not to 00:02:17.33\00:02:22.37 buy and sell on the Sabbath. He wants us to spend the day with 00:02:22.40\00:02:27.41 Him and leave the cares and burdens of the world for that 00:02:27.44\00:02:31.31 day. He wants our minds focused on Him. God in His holy wisdom 00:02:31.35\00:02:36.75 knows that for our health and well being resting with Him on 00:02:36.79\00:02:42.19 the Sabbath is very good for us. God, the master creator, knows 00:02:42.22\00:02:47.70 our bodies inside out and upside down. He knows our bodies and 00:02:47.73\00:02:52.50 minds are at their best when we rest on the blessed seventh day 00:02:52.53\00:02:57.31 Sabbath. 00:02:57.34\00:02:58.81 Amen. Thank you Auntie Cecily. God's so good. Do you know 00:02:58.84\00:03:02.94 another way we can worship God on the Sabbath is to worship Him 00:03:02.98\00:03:06.51 in song. Pastor Rick has joined us. Thanks Pastor Rick. 00:03:06.55\00:03:11.82 Hello boys and girls. Let's sing This Is the Day. 00:03:11.85\00:03:16.76 Let's do it again. 00:03:46.99\00:03:48.32 Pastor Rick, could we please sing Give Me Oil In My Lamp? 00:04:17.29\00:04:20.49 Oh, why not? Who knows it? 00:04:20.52\00:04:21.86 Pastor Rick, can we sing Make Me Like You? 00:05:37.73\00:05:40.67 Ah, yes 00:05:40.70\00:05:45.07 Thanks Pastor Rick. It's great to praise God in song. Now 00:06:53.84\00:06:57.31 Elijah, we discovered a blessing at Sunnyside this week. Will we 00:06:57.35\00:07:00.52 share that with the children at home? Yes. Okay let's have a 00:07:00.55\00:07:03.69 look at that. 00:07:03.72\00:07:05.05 Hello boys and girls. My name is Dr. John Hammond. Welcome to the 00:07:09.22\00:07:14.20 Australian home of Mrs. Ellen White. Come with me. I've 00:07:14.23\00:07:18.70 got some stories to tell you. 00:07:18.73\00:07:20.24 You know what my favorite meal of the week is Sabbath lunch 00:07:24.34\00:07:32.61 because my wife, she makes a special lunch and a nice dessert 00:07:32.65\00:07:39.32 and Ellen used to do the same thing. And on this particular 00:07:39.35\00:07:45.49 Sabbath she made a beautiful rice pudding. And when they were 00:07:45.53\00:07:52.37 ready for it, they went out to the kitchen and the rice pudding 00:07:52.40\00:07:59.21 was gone. Not just the rice pudding; the dish, the cutlery 00:07:59.24\00:08:07.05 the table cloth. Everything in the kitchen was stolen. Ellen 00:08:07.08\00:08:13.02 was so upset. She went to the police and she said what's going 00:08:13.05\00:08:19.69 on? And the policeman's name was Sgt. Berry. He said oh Ellen we 00:08:19.73\00:08:25.23 have some naughty people here. Many years ago three families 00:08:25.27\00:08:30.71 who were ex-convicts lived just over the hill there at 00:08:30.74\00:08:34.54 Martinsville and the families would grow and there were 250 00:08:34.61\00:08:40.25 of them and they are all thieves and they will take anything that 00:08:40.28\00:08:46.86 is not too hot or too heavy. And we advise you to get a 00:08:46.89\00:08:54.66 watch dog. Oh, okay. She got a watch dog with the fiercest name 00:08:54.70\00:09:00.67 it was named after a very fierce Persian king thousands of years 00:09:00.70\00:09:06.68 ago. And the king's name was Tiglath-pilezer. I think they 00:09:06.71\00:09:14.18 called the dog Tig, well Tig turned up. He had the most 00:09:14.22\00:09:21.69 ferocious bark. Now I want you all together to give me the most 00:09:21.72\00:09:26.80 ferocious bark you can. One, two three, BARK. Huh! That would 00:09:26.83\00:09:34.24 scare the 250 people out over the mountains. Tiglath had an 00:09:34.27\00:09:40.78 awful bark, (bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark). And they 00:09:40.84\00:09:45.68 tied him up by the fence just over there. But you know what? 00:09:45.71\00:09:51.05 He had a big bark but whenever somebody came, he'd wag his 00:09:51.09\00:09:55.86 tail. They didn't know what to do with the thieves. And Ellen 00:09:55.89\00:10:01.36 came up with a plan. She said we won't scare them away, we 00:10:01.40\00:10:06.80 will draw them with love and we will change them. How you going 00:10:06.84\00:10:11.17 to do that? There was a sickness we call it an epidemic and it 00:10:11.21\00:10:14.84 went right through the district and there were people who were 00:10:14.88\00:10:19.91 so sick. And every day she would go to a house, and she would 00:10:19.98\00:10:24.72 bring food, or she would wash the baby or she would ask them 00:10:24.75\00:10:29.36 if they had enough medicine. And she went right over into the 00:10:29.39\00:10:33.96 area where the 250 thieving people who were descendants 00:10:34.00\00:10:40.37 of the convicts were living and you know one by one she won them 00:10:40.40\00:10:46.57 over. She took them food and Tiglath, he was such a friendly 00:10:46.64\00:10:54.22 dog, I'll show you his picture. Here he is. He actually got a 00:10:54.25\00:11:01.79 whole page in the autograph book: Greetings from 00:11:01.82\00:11:08.86 Tiglath-pilezer and he had a chain and he was so strong I 00:11:08.90\00:11:11.77 he wanted to say hello to people he pulled it off. See the kennel 00:11:11.80\00:11:16.64 is tilted over. He never hurt anybody but let me tell you 00:11:16.67\00:11:20.64 about the people. They stopped swearing, they stopped drinking, 00:11:20.68\00:11:27.02 they stopped smoking, they accepted Jesus and one by one 00:11:27.05\00:11:32.69 they changed their lives and if Ellen White had a really fierce 00:11:32.75\00:11:38.63 dog that bit people and chased them, they would never have been 00:11:38.69\00:11:44.53 won to Jesus. She loved animals and she loved people and 00:11:44.57\00:11:49.87 gradually they joined the church and you know what. After one 00:11:49.90\00:11:56.78 year nobody ever, ever stole anything from Ellen's house. 00:11:56.81\00:12:03.42 Don't you think that's the best way? Win them with kindness. 00:12:03.45\00:12:09.36 Have you seen people do that who are kind when other people 00:12:09.39\00:12:15.43 are cruel to them. This is what Ellen did. She won them over by 00:12:15.46\00:12:21.30 being kind and Tiglath whose name was Tig was a happy dog but 00:12:21.34\00:12:27.14 he never bit anybody. Thank you. 00:12:27.18\00:12:30.65 Hi boys and girls. Happy Sabbath Welcome back to our Bible study. 00:12:30.68\00:12:33.95 I hope you know now to have your Bibles ready so you can read 00:12:34.02\00:12:37.22 along with us. Auntie Cecily could you please say a prayer 00:12:37.25\00:12:40.46 before we open the word. 00:12:40.49\00:12:42.32 Yes. Dear Lord, thank you for this time that we can spend with 00:12:42.36\00:12:46.73 you. Please be with the boys and girls as they read their Bibles 00:12:46.76\00:12:51.10 and touch their hearts. In Jesus' name, Amen. 00:12:51.13\00:12:54.84 Amen. Now last Sabbath we studied about a very faithful, 00:12:54.90\00:12:59.91 obedient man. Kate, who was that man? Noah. It was Noah. We 00:12:59.94\00:13:04.91 are going to study about a another man who was very 00:13:04.95\00:13:06.82 faithful and obedient and his name was Abraham. Now it's been 00:13:06.85\00:13:11.02 about 400 years since the flood and Abraham's about 75 years 00:13:11.05\00:13:15.22 old. Let's read about that. Liam, can you please read 00:13:15.26\00:13:19.06 Genesis 12:1-3. 00:13:19.09\00:13:21.36 Now the Lord had said to Abram get out of your country from 00:13:21.43\00:13:26.30 your family and from your father's house to a land that I 00:13:26.33\00:13:31.11 will show you. I will make you a great nation. I will bless you 00:13:31.17\00:13:36.51 and make your name great and you shall be a blessing. I will 00:13:36.54\00:13:41.55 bless those who bless you and I will curse him who curses you 00:13:41.58\00:13:46.52 and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed. 00:13:46.55\00:13:51.46 Thanks Liam. So God asked him to leave his country and his family 00:13:51.49\00:13:57.07 Do you think that would have been hard to leave your family? 00:13:57.10\00:13:59.67 Yes but Abraham loved God. Let's see who went with him? 00:13:59.70\00:14:04.01 Ella, can you please read Genesis 12:4-5. 00:14:04.07\00:14:08.34 Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him and Lot went with 00:14:08.38\00:14:13.55 him. And Abram was 75 years old when he departed from Haran. 00:14:13.58\00:14:19.25 And Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother's son and 00:14:19.29\00:14:25.09 all their possessions which they had gathered, the people whom 00:14:25.13\00:14:31.03 they had acquired in Haran and they departed from there to the 00:14:31.10\00:14:36.97 land of Canaan. So they came to the land of Canaan. 00:14:37.01\00:14:39.84 Okay, so who went with Abram? His wife Sarai and his nephew 00:14:39.87\00:14:45.01 Lot and lots of their helpers and workers. Let's go to our 00:14:45.05\00:14:49.92 faith chapter Auntie Cecily and read Hebrews 11:8 and see what 00:14:49.95\00:14:54.79 that says. 00:14:54.82\00:14:56.16 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the 00:14:56.19\00:15:01.90 place which he would receive as an inheritance and he went out 00:15:01.96\00:15:07.84 not knowing where he was going. 00:15:07.87\00:15:11.94 Okay, we're going to look at our Torch Light now, Mrs. White's 00:15:11.97\00:15:15.74 writings to see what that sheds on verse. Thanks Nick, you're 00:15:15.78\00:15:19.51 going to read that for us today. 00:15:19.55\00:15:22.18 Abraham's unquestioning 00:15:22.22\00:15:24.72 obedience is one of the most striking evidences of faith to 00:15:24.75\00:15:27.99 be found in all the Bible. 00:15:28.02\00:15:30.73 Wow, so that tells us that Abram was a very obedient and faithful 00:15:30.76\00:15:37.60 man. I wonder why God asked him to leave his home? I think 00:15:37.63\00:15:41.94 it might have been because they were worshipping a lot of idols 00:15:41.97\00:15:46.17 Abraham loved God and God loved Abraham and he asked Abraham to 00:15:46.21\00:15:50.38 a land where they wouldn't be influenced by all the idols 00:15:50.41\00:15:53.68 because they had to preserve a line from which Jesus would be 00:15:53.72\00:15:58.25 born into. Okay. So Abraham and Sarah had no children which 00:15:58.29\00:16:02.79 means Sarah was barren. She couldn't have a baby. Remember 00:16:02.82\00:16:07.33 in Genesis 12:2 that God promised that he would bless 00:16:07.36\00:16:11.47 Abraham and make him a great nation. So Abraham was troubled 00:16:11.50\00:16:16.07 Let's read what God had promised him again. Let's read 00:16:16.10\00:16:19.41 Genesis 15:5. Elijah can you read that for us please. 00:16:19.44\00:16:22.68 Then he brought him outside and said, look now toward heaven and 00:16:22.71\00:16:28.75 count the stars if you are able to number them. And He said to 00:16:28.78\00:16:34.79 him so shall your descendants be. 00:16:34.82\00:16:37.76 Mmm. So that was a great promise God was making to Abraham. But 00:16:37.79\00:16:42.46 do you know what? Abraham and Sarah were human like you and me 00:16:42.53\00:16:47.17 and they were getting old and they were having doubts and 00:16:47.20\00:16:50.11 thoughts. And they thought how can God bless us and make us a 00:16:50.14\00:16:53.01 great nation like all the stars in the sky if we have no 00:16:53.04\00:16:58.38 children. Let's read and see what happens next. Kate, can you 00:16:58.41\00:17:00.65 please read Genesis 16:2-3. 00:17:00.68\00:17:05.02 So Sarai said to Abram, see now the Lord has restrained me from 00:17:05.05\00:17:11.69 bearing children. Please go in to my maid. Perhaps I shall 00:17:11.73\00:17:17.23 obtain children by her. And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai. 00:17:17.27\00:17:22.87 And Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian and 00:17:22.90\00:17:28.08 gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife, after Abram had 00:17:28.11\00:17:33.25 dwelt 10 years in the land of Canaan. 00:17:33.28\00:17:36.58 Mmm. Oh dear. Did Sarah and Abraham take matters into their 00:17:36.65\00:17:40.36 own hands? I think they did. They weren't patient and they 00:17:40.39\00:17:43.66 didn't wait on God. Are you supposed to have two wives? 00:17:43.69\00:17:48.30 No. No. Hagar gave him a son, Ishmael and if we were to 00:17:48.33\00:17:52.20 continue to read, it caused no end of trouble. There was 00:17:52.23\00:17:55.64 jealousy and there were arguments and heartaches in the 00:17:55.67\00:17:58.97 household. Do you think that's what God want's for us. No. I 00:17:59.04\00:18:02.84 think Abraham and Sarah learnt their lesson the hard way. Again 00:18:02.88\00:18:06.65 God comes to Abraham and promises him to make him a 00:18:06.68\00:18:10.25 father of many nations. We can find out in the first part of 00:18:10.29\00:18:15.26 chapter 17. So God still loved Abraham. Okay, let's read 00:18:15.29\00:18:20.60 chapter 17, Genesis 17:17,19. God has something to say to 00:18:20.63\00:18:25.90 Abraham. Ben, you're going to read that for us. 00:18:25.93\00:18:27.50 Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed and said in his 00:18:27.54\00:18:33.91 heart, shall a child be born to a man who is 100 years old and 00:18:33.94\00:18:39.25 shall Sarah, who is 90 years old, bear a child? Then God said 00:18:39.31\00:18:46.02 Sarah your wife shall bear you a son and you shall call his name 00:18:46.05\00:18:52.73 Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him for an 00:18:52.76\00:18:55.40 everlasting covenant and with his descendants after him. 00:18:55.46\00:18:59.77 Mmm. So did that happen. It did. And we can read that in chapter 00:18:59.83\00:19:03.57 21. Nick, you're going to read that for us. We're looking at 00:19:03.61\00:19:09.01 Genesis 21:1-3. Might have to go over a few pages in our Bible 00:19:09.04\00:19:14.42 now. 00:19:14.45\00:19:17.49 And the Lord visited Sarah as he had said and the Lord did 00:19:17.55\00:19:20.62 for Sarah as He had 00:19:20.66\00:19:21.99 spoken. So Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old 00:19:22.02\00:19:27.40 age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. And 00:19:27.43\00:19:32.07 Abraham called the name of his son, whom Sarah bore to him, 00:19:32.10\00:19:36.74 Isaac. 00:19:36.77\00:19:38.11 Mmm. So did God keep his promise? He did didn't He. 00:19:38.14\00:19:40.08 Even though Abraham were very old to have children God did it 00:19:40.11\00:19:44.11 in His own timing. Nothing is impossible with God. We're going 00:19:44.15\00:19:47.88 read that in our memory verse. Let's look at that in Luke 1:37. 00:19:47.92\00:19:51.62 We're going to read that together. You got that. Okay 00:19:51.65\00:19:57.63 let's read that together. 00:19:57.66\00:19:59.19 For with God nothing will be impossible. 00:19:59.23\00:20:03.23 Okay, so to finish our story about Abraham, something 00:20:03.26\00:20:07.40 happened. Let's have a look at that, Ben, in Genesis 22:1-2. 00:20:07.44\00:20:14.04 Can you read that for us? 00:20:14.08\00:20:21.38 Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham 00:20:21.42\00:20:25.82 and said to him, and he said here I am. Then he said take 00:20:25.85\00:20:30.09 now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to 00:20:30.13\00:20:34.66 the land of Moriah and offer him there as a burnt offering 00:20:34.70\00:20:39.20 on one of the mountains on which I shall tell you. 00:20:39.23\00:20:41.24 Mmm. So what's happening here. God's testing Abraham. Have we 00:20:41.30\00:20:45.57 studied up before about how God tests people. It happened in the 00:20:45.61\00:20:49.48 garden of Eden and it happened with Cain and Abel didn't it? 00:20:49.51\00:20:53.72 Let's see if Abraham passes the test. Auntie Cecily can you 00:20:53.75\00:20:57.92 please read Genesis 22:3 and then 9-13 for us. 00:20:57.95\00:21:03.93 So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey 00:21:03.99\00:21:09.76 and took two of his young men with him and Isaac his son. And 00:21:09.80\00:21:14.90 split the wood for the burnt offering and arose and went to 00:21:14.97\00:21:20.01 the place of which God had told him. (And continuing on at verse 00:21:20.08\00:21:24.88 nine). Then they came to the place of which God had told him 00:21:24.91\00:21:30.09 and Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order. 00:21:30.12\00:21:35.82 And he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar upon the 00:21:35.86\00:21:41.46 wood and Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to 00:21:41.50\00:21:46.47 slay his son. But the angel of the Lord called to him from 00:21:46.53\00:21:52.31 heaven and said, Abraham, Abraham. So he said, here I am. 00:21:52.34\00:21:57.75 He said do not lay your hand on the lad or do anything to him 00:21:57.78\00:22:03.12 for now I know that you fear God since you have not withheld your 00:22:03.15\00:22:08.46 son, your only son, from Me. And Abraham lifted his eyes and 00:22:08.49\00:22:14.46 looked and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its 00:22:14.50\00:22:19.90 horns. So Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up for a 00:22:19.93\00:22:25.34 burnt offering instead of his son. 00:22:25.37\00:22:28.41 Did Abraham pass the test? YES. He did. Praise the Lord! Do you 00:22:28.44\00:22:33.78 know what? In James 2:23, the Bible tells us that Abraham was 00:22:33.82\00:22:38.55 called a friend of God.
