Well, here we are. 00:00:11.01\00:00:11.97 Another episode of Destination 1 00:00:12.01\00:00:14.84 Welcome back. 00:00:14.88\00:00:17.91 The food has changed. 00:00:21.78\00:00:23.55 We have now 00:00:23.59\00:00:24.65 been traveling for six weeks and we are exhausted but 00:00:24.69\00:00:28.02 excited about our next country and our next adventure. 00:00:28.06\00:00:31.73 Last flight to the Philippines. 00:00:32.36\00:00:35.40 We are headed to the city of Zamboanga 00:00:37.07\00:00:39.37 on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines. 00:00:39.40\00:00:42.47 We are meeting up with the Adventist Mission Director 00:00:45.97\00:00:48.81 for the Zamboanga Peninsula mission, Ranny Devera. 00:00:48.84\00:00:52.18 Ranny's passion is for reaching the Muslim communities 00:00:52.48\00:00:55.62 and he has devoted his life to this task. 00:00:55.65\00:00:58.72 Ranny is also the supervisor for the Gospel 00:00:59.02\00:01:01.82 Outreach sponsored workers in this area. 00:01:01.86\00:01:04.93 A large number of our workers in the Philippines are managed 00:01:05.19\00:01:08.50 and trained through 00:01:08.53\00:01:09.46 a partnering organization called the Sulads. 00:01:09.50\00:01:12.33 Now, the Sulads was established in the 1960s and has built 00:01:12.37\00:01:16.14 an amazing reputation throughout the Philippines 00:01:16.17\00:01:18.77 for specializing in reaching remote places with the gospel. 00:01:18.81\00:01:22.48 The Sulads workers in this episo 00:01:23.58\00:01:25.75 are sponsored through Gospel Outreach. 00:01:25.78\00:01:28.85 The time has come. 00:01:30.85\00:01:31.72 We are leaving to head to this island. 00:01:31.75\00:01:34.06 That's supposed to be quite dangerous. 00:01:34.09\00:01:37.76 We are headed 00:01:43.73\00:01:44.70 to the island of Jolo in the province of Sulu. 00:01:44.73\00:01:47.77 Now, the Sulu Province has a 00:01:47.94\00:01:49.60 do not travel advisory for all foreigners. 00:01:49.64\00:01:53.51 The only reason we are able to travel to 00:01:53.68\00:01:55.94 this place is thanks to an agreement 00:01:55.98\00:01:57.88 between the local church and the military. 00:01:57.91\00:02:00.62 This trip is only possible under the strict supervision 00:02:00.65\00:02:04.12 and guidance of the military. 00:02:04.15\00:02:07.22 We have been ordered 00:04:00.34\00:04:01.54 not to leave the ship until the military comes to get us. 00:04:01.57\00:04:04.57 I think that 00:04:06.34\00:04:07.78 most of the people here are decent people. 00:04:07.81\00:04:10.85 But there's always 00:04:11.01\00:04:12.18 those outliers that would see foreigners and immediately 00:04:12.21\00:04:14.92 have a desire to kidnap us for ransom. 00:04:15.45\00:04:18.52 Ransom, Meaning. 00:04:18.82\00:04:19.69 2 or $3 million. 00:04:19.72\00:04:21.99 This has happened before. 00:04:22.02\00:04:23.29 So that is why we have 00:04:23.32\00:04:25.49 the military's, escort with us at all times. 00:04:25.53\00:04:29.13 Definitely an experience, for sure. 00:04:29.33\00:04:31.00 But we have been assured of our safety. 00:04:31.03\00:04:33.23 And I do trust that 00:04:33.27\00:04:35.57 all the boats are coming in this morning from fishing. 00:04:35.60\00:04:37.91 Last night. 00:04:37.94\00:04:38.67 So as we were coming into port here, 00:04:40.68\00:04:42.88 all these little boats arrived filled with people. 00:04:42.91\00:04:46.78 And you may have heard of these 00:04:46.82\00:04:48.78 people before because National Geographic, 00:04:48.82\00:04:50.82 many other news organizations have done videos about them, but 00:04:50.85\00:04:53.92 they are often known as the Sea gypsies. 00:04:54.49\00:04:57.29 And so they came alongside our ship and people started 00:04:57.33\00:05:01.36 throwing coins into the water, 00:05:01.40\00:05:03.13 and they drove down to get the coins. 00:05:03.16\00:05:05.50 For many of these people, their home is their boats. 00:05:05.53\00:05:08.10 They live in their boats, 00:05:08.14\00:05:10.91 and they say that they can dive down up to 200ft 00:05:10.94\00:05:14.54 and hold their breath for over 13 minutes. 00:05:14.58\00:05:17.21 And this is what they do for a living. 00:05:17.25\00:05:18.78 They'll dive down for fish 00:05:18.81\00:05:21.05 and they'll sell what they are able to catch. 00:05:21.08\00:05:24.15 Okay, time to go down. 00:05:25.42\00:05:27.36 The town of Jolo on the northwestern coast 00:05:49.11\00:05:51.61 is a port of entry and capital of the province of Sulu. 00:05:51.65\00:05:55.02 This city is a main focal point of a lively trade 00:05:55.52\00:05:58.39 with Zamboanga City, 00:05:58.42\00:05:59.62 Manila, Singapore, and the island of Borneo. 00:05:59.65\00:06:02.79 But the main economic activity on this island 00:06:02.96\00:06:05.89 is fishing. 00:06:05.93\00:06:08.96 They provide us security, 00:06:22.08\00:06:24.11 mobilization and logistical information 00:06:24.15\00:06:27.22 Everybody is fully aware of the lurking 00:06:31.25\00:06:36.19 before you couldn't just walk around like this. 00:06:37.43\00:06:40.36 Especially with, you know, with foreigners. 00:06:40.40\00:06:43.00 How long ago was that? 00:06:43.03\00:06:44.27 It was like last year. 00:06:44.30\00:06:47.44 I think this last year, it was only recently 00:06:47.47\00:06:49.97 when, things changed. 00:06:50.01\00:06:53.07 There's been war here in this city, you cannot walk freely. 00:06:59.88\00:07:03.92 So we are here visiting one of the most recent Adventist 00:07:09.49\00:07:12.03 schools that has been started here on this island. 00:07:12.06\00:07:15.10 Right now, there's only one classroom. 00:07:15.50\00:07:17.30 And there's only one teacher, which creates a big problem. 00:07:17.33\00:07:20.80 They're working on creating more classrooms upstairs, 00:07:20.84\00:07:24.14 but they're waiting for 00:07:24.17\00:07:25.27 the money to come in to actually be able to do that. 00:07:25.31\00:07:27.91 What's so unique about this school is it's 100% Muslims. 00:07:28.14\00:07:32.28 Only Muslims coming to this school. 00:07:32.31\00:07:34.28 The military is probably going to be showing up 00:07:34.32\00:07:36.69 in about 20 minutes, and we're going to be heading up 00:07:36.72\00:07:38.59 into the mountains from the school 00:07:38.62\00:07:40.76 I will lay out some restrictions 00:08:06.98\00:08:09.52 when it comes to our movements. So first, 00:08:09.55\00:08:11.29 I understand you have a travel advisory 00:08:12.52\00:08:14.59 going to Sulu, so we're already taking this risk 00:08:14.62\00:08:17.29 We're doing this risk because of Pastor Ranny. So... 00:08:17.33\00:08:21.53 This is going to be worth it. 00:08:21.56\00:08:24.47 If you could just turn on your location, 00:08:24.50\00:08:27.57 turn off your location rather and, Okay, 00:08:27.74\00:08:30.11 I think that would be better. So. Okay. 00:08:30.14\00:08:31.84 Anyone for for one thing, 00:08:31.87\00:08:34.51 you already have your travel advisory not to go here, 00:08:34.54\00:08:36.51 so we have to mitigate that. Secondly, Sinumaan 00:08:36.54\00:08:39.58 is a very, it's still, 00:08:39.61\00:08:43.05 marked as a very hostile area. 00:08:44.12\00:08:47.19 Ok. And one more thing, if, we would appreciate 00:08:48.02\00:08:50.96 if you would, 00:08:50.99\00:08:52.39 I mean, you would cover up. 00:08:52.43\00:08:55.46 it would be better if, 00:08:55.80\00:08:57.70 they wont identify you as foreign nationals. 00:08:57.73\00:09:00.87 Every new face is a target for abduction. 00:09:01.07\00:09:04.14 So that's what the security is for. 00:09:04.57\00:09:07.51 He has a different approach. 00:09:07.54\00:09:09.41 His approach is while 00:09:09.44\00:09:10.41 he and his men are killing machines. And yet, 00:09:10.45\00:09:14.55 he wants to instill peace through negotiation. 00:09:14.88\00:09:18.82 You know, what can we do to help? 00:09:18.95\00:09:20.36 He said if there's something 00:09:23.99\00:09:25.06 we can do to instill peace, he'll do it. 00:09:25.09\00:09:28.13 Lexi? 00:09:29.50\00:09:31.03 What if we that order to do it? 00:09:31.07\00:09:32.90 To cover up. 00:09:32.93\00:09:34.17 We thank you, loving father, for bringing us here safely. 00:09:46.85\00:09:49.92 We praise you for guiding us and protecting us. 00:09:50.45\00:09:54.06 We thank you, Lord, for safety. 00:09:55.66\00:09:57.09 We thank you for Aaron and Lexi here with us. 00:09:57.13\00:10:00.20 And as we do our work, oh Lord, 00:10:00.60\00:10:02.40 we ask that you lead our minds. 00:10:02.43\00:10:05.50 We thank you, and 00:10:07.37\00:10:08.40 we praise you because you're such an awesome God. 00:10:08.44\00:10:10.81 You have given us this privilege, 00:10:10.84\00:10:12.34 an opportunity to serve you and humanity. 00:10:12.37\00:10:15.18 So we just ask it 00:10:15.21\00:10:16.21 to bless our humble contribution to your ministry. 00:10:16.24\00:10:18.81 We thank you for all these things. 00:10:18.85\00:10:20.02 We ask in Jesus name, Amen. 00:10:20.05\00:10:21.65 This is where ambush can come, can happen. 00:10:33.50\00:10:36.63 Abduction can happen because no homes around 00:10:37.03\00:10:40.10 and our volunteers hike here every single day. 00:10:40.34\00:10:43.41 With the troops 00:10:44.01\00:10:46.31 Gospel Outreach has a number of sponsored workers 00:10:46.34\00:10:50.65 on the island of Jolo, being managed by the Sulads 00:10:50.68\00:10:55.18 in strict cooperation with the military. 00:10:55.35\00:10:58.42 This is a completely unentered territory 00:10:59.55\00:11:02.22 for the sulads and for Gospel Outreach. 00:11:02.26\00:11:05.29 Our workers have only been working 00:11:05.33\00:11:07.00 on the island for four months. 00:11:07.03\00:11:11.80 I don't think anyone in their right, 00:11:29.22\00:11:32.95 I don't think anyone who is actually briefed on 00:11:34.62\00:11:36.32 how dangerous this area was will ever come in this area. 00:11:36.36\00:11:39.59 I don't think they will. I mean, locals, when you say Sinumaan. 00:11:40.40\00:11:42.33 Oh, no, I would not dare come up there. 00:11:42.36\00:11:43.87 They would not. 00:11:44.87\00:11:45.80 They know how dangerous man was last year. 00:11:45.83\00:11:50.04 I am originally from Manila. 00:11:53.38\00:11:54.78 I came from Manila, 00:11:54.81\00:11:56.58 but for a bit of background I grew up in the Middle East 00:11:56.61\00:11:58.81 so I am not a stranger to Islam. 00:11:58.85\00:12:00.98 I graduated my elementary 00:12:01.02\00:12:02.92 in the Middle East in (Inaudible), so I have lots of 00:12:02.95\00:12:05.39 friends, of different ethnic backgrounds, 00:12:05.42\00:12:08.12 of different cultural backgrounds. 00:12:08.16\00:12:10.53 Religion has never been a divide for me. 00:12:10.56\00:12:12.79 Religion is something that strengthens us 00:12:12.83\00:12:14.36 through diversity. 00:12:14.40\00:12:17.47 This area really used to be 00:12:17.60\00:12:19.13 a battleground for the past 20 or so years. Before, 00:12:19.17\00:12:22.40 you cannot come up here with just a single vehicle. 00:12:22.44\00:12:24.77 You cannot. You just can't. 00:12:24.81\00:12:26.24 You have to have about 100 men, a battalion, 00:12:26.27\00:12:29.34 if you are in an area, in a conflict area in five years, 00:12:30.35\00:12:33.21 if children won't go to school instead of holding pens 00:12:33.25\00:12:36.35 instead of holding pencils, they will be holding guns. 00:12:36.38\00:12:39.42 As soon as people here realize the value 00:12:39.45\00:12:42.59 of having education, having the ability to understand 00:12:42.79\00:12:46.83 what other people are saying through literature, 00:12:47.30\00:12:49.50 through books, it expands their horizon. 00:12:49.53\00:12:51.90 This is by far the smallest library that I've ever seen. 00:12:55.70\00:12:58.74 But this behind me 00:12:58.77\00:13:00.24 is the beginning of something amazing and beautiful. 00:13:00.28\00:13:02.61 And that is the opportunity for these kids in this area 00:13:02.64\00:13:06.18 to learn and to grow. 00:13:06.35\00:13:07.95 And so this is exciting. 00:13:07.98\00:13:09.85 It may just be a few bookshelves, 00:13:09.88\00:13:11.95 but this is the beginning of something amazing. 00:13:11.99\00:13:15.06 Education here has been 00:13:17.69\00:13:20.23 has been very low. 00:13:20.26\00:13:23.30 What our our partners from the Seventh day 00:13:23.33\00:13:26.27 Adventist has been doing here through Sulads, the Zamboanga 00:13:26.30\00:13:30.11 Peninsula mission and AMR have really impacted the community. 00:13:30.14\00:13:35.11 I mean, this is the first time 00:13:35.14\00:13:36.21 that they had a school for the past 30 years or so. 00:13:36.24\00:13:39.35 It's very important 00:13:41.35\00:13:43.85 that we win this next generation. 00:13:43.89\00:13:46.05 We may not stop the current generation from fighting, 00:13:46.09\00:13:48.92 but for this, campaign to be successful, 00:13:48.96\00:13:51.19 we need to take care of the next generation. 00:13:51.23\00:13:52.83 At the end of the day, it's about 00:13:54.20\00:13:56.26 serving the Filipino people. 00:13:56.30\00:13:57.40 We're here to serve and protect the Filipino people 00:13:57.43\00:13:59.93 and these people being not able to go to school, 00:14:00.04\00:14:03.37 these people being less privileged and ours 00:14:04.11\00:14:05.74 does not make them a lesser Filipino. 00:14:05.77\00:14:08.84 Einstein said it 00:14:10.95\00:14:12.15 "Peace cannot be kept by force. 00:14:12.18\00:14:14.88 It can only be achieved through understanding." 00:14:14.92\00:14:17.99 We're actually fighting, confronting two things. 00:14:22.99\00:14:26.13 We're fighting a terrorist and we're fighting an ideology. 00:14:26.96\00:14:30.30 So long as we have young leaders both on our end 00:14:30.80\00:14:34.77 and on the end of other partners who could continue 00:14:35.10\00:14:38.24 this, mission, the military will come and go. 00:14:38.27\00:14:41.58 We are not the permanent solution. 00:14:41.61\00:14:44.68 We actually owe it a lot 00:14:44.71\00:14:46.72 to our, Adventist partner. 00:14:46.75\00:14:49.82 Because we cannot do it all. 00:14:51.09\00:14:52.89 We cannot do it all. 00:14:52.92\00:14:53.69 This island has been 00:14:56.83\00:14:58.46 involved with gorilla warfare for the last 30 years, between 00:14:58.49\00:15:02.46 the military here in the Philippines and ISIS. 00:15:03.43\00:15:07.24 The reason that we are here is the military understands 00:15:07.64\00:15:11.41 that as Adventists, we are respected by Muslims due to 00:15:11.44\00:15:15.54 the fact that we don't eat pork and we dress more modestly, 00:15:15.58\00:15:19.71 and we we just have the respect of the Muslims. 00:15:19.75\00:15:23.92 A year ago they were able to take over this area 00:15:24.79\00:15:27.86 from the rebels. 00:15:28.06\00:15:29.09 Now the soldiers are here. They're protecting us. 00:15:29.12\00:15:32.03 They're not only protecting us, but they're protecting our GO 00:15:32.06\00:15:34.93 Bible workers. 00:15:34.96\00:15:36.03 In fact, 00:15:36.06\00:15:37.20 our GO Bible worker lives one kilometer from the school, 00:15:37.23\00:15:39.77 and he is not allowed to walk the one kilometer from his home 00:15:39.80\00:15:43.47 to the school without an escort of eight soldiers. 00:15:43.64\00:15:47.38 We have an incredible work 00:15:49.18\00:15:50.68 that's being done here by our GO workers. 00:15:50.71\00:15:52.58 It's exciting to see the Lord working through them 00:15:52.61\00:15:55.75 in reaching these people. 00:15:55.78\00:15:58.85 We're coming in with our Gospel Outreach workers. 00:15:59.95\00:16:02.32 We're teaching them how to grow food. 00:16:02.36\00:16:04.19 We're giving them, medical assistance 00:16:04.23\00:16:07.03 by way of health workers that we have here. 00:16:07.03\00:16:09.50 And then also, of course, 00:16:09.53\00:16:10.70 we have the school back here where we're able to, teach, 00:16:10.73\00:16:13.90 the Muslim children, 100% Muslim 00:16:14.34\00:16:17.01 children are going to the school. 00:16:17.04\00:16:20.11 Really, there's just you're just seeing a very small part 00:16:20.24\00:16:23.14 of what we're actually experience 00:16:23.18\00:16:24.75 here, experiencing here. 00:16:24.78\00:16:26.15 And I completely understand that 00:16:26.18\00:16:27.75 when it comes to the security of the soldiers, 00:16:27.78\00:16:29.98 when it comes to the security of our GO workers, 00:16:30.02\00:16:32.59 we really can't be sharing some specific details about 00:16:32.62\00:16:35.72 this area. 00:16:35.76\00:16:36.52 We feel like 00:16:37.83\00:16:38.63 the Lord has guided us to this place, 00:16:38.66\00:16:41.66 and we're just excited to be able to, to interact 00:16:41.70\00:16:45.00 with the people here. 00:16:45.27\00:16:48.34 We're going to be leaving here in about 30 minutes. 00:16:50.91\00:16:52.94 We have to get out of here before dark. 00:16:52.97\00:16:55.14 We're going to be coming back here tomorrow. 00:16:55.18\00:16:57.18 We're going to spend 00:16:57.21\00:16:58.15 another day here, and they're actually going 00:16:58.18\00:17:00.18 to be doing some school tomorrow. We're going to be able 00:17:00.22\00:17:02.52 to capture our GO teachers in action. 00:17:02.55\00:17:05.62 We don't need too many comforts. 00:17:17.63\00:17:19.03 Yeah. 00:17:19.07\00:17:20.04 We don't need comforts. 00:17:20.07\00:17:21.27 We're missionaries. 00:17:21.30\00:17:22.24 We don't need comforts. 00:17:22.80\00:17:25.21 I praise the Lord that my wife and I are fairly adaptable, 00:17:26.17\00:17:29.28 because we slept 00:17:29.31\00:17:30.51 on a concrete floor last night with a mat that really isn't 00:17:30.55\00:17:33.42 meant for comfort. It's just meant for cold. 00:17:33.45\00:17:35.38 I guess there are situations that makes it 00:17:36.32\00:17:38.22 too dangerous for us to stay up in the mountains 00:17:38.25\00:17:41.36 at night, but we are going back today for a full day. 00:17:41.39\00:17:45.29 The things my beard is doing 00:17:46.23\00:17:48.43 in this crazy humidity. 00:17:48.46\00:17:51.53 Honestly, things aren't as dangerous 00:17:53.13\00:17:54.74 as they used to be here. 00:17:54.77\00:17:56.04 at least aren't as dangerous as they were a year ago. 00:17:56.07\00:17:58.44 But you can still tell that the soldiers are on edge. 00:17:58.47\00:18:01.01 And I think that's probably partially 00:18:01.04\00:18:02.68 because they have a little bit of PTSD from the past, 00:18:02.71\00:18:05.78 especially driving through specific areas 00:18:05.81\00:18:07.95 where there have been ambushes, soldiers have died. 00:18:07.98\00:18:11.02 So the reality is, is there is, you know, there is danger here 00:18:11.05\00:18:14.26 a lot less now than there used to be. 00:18:14.66\00:18:17.63 They still are vigilant and they're still very careful, 00:18:17.66\00:18:20.13 especially when it comes to visitors coming into the area. 00:18:20.16\00:18:24.30 How's it going? 00:18:29.24\00:18:30.34 Hot! Hot? 00:18:30.37\00:18:32.24 Very hot. I definitely agree. 00:18:32.27\00:18:36.48 Today they typically teach the adults. 00:18:42.42\00:18:44.42 But because we are here, 00:18:44.45\00:18:45.69 the children have come along with the parents. 00:18:45.72\00:18:47.36 We're going to be fellowshipping with them, 00:18:47.39\00:18:49.29 eating some food and having a good time. 00:18:49.32\00:18:51.56 There's a lot of kids here right now, and this is the reason 00:18:51.59\00:18:55.30 why what we are doing here is so important. 00:18:55.33\00:18:57.30 We are creating a atmosphere of learning 00:18:57.33\00:19:01.50 because so many of these people, all they know is war. 00:19:01.87\00:19:04.87 And so by coming in and giving them a place to be able 00:19:04.91\00:19:08.81 to be not only educated but also teach them how to grow foods 00:19:08.84\00:19:12.78 and also give them medical assistance. 00:19:12.81\00:19:14.42 This is huge in healing the wounds that have been caused 00:19:14.45\00:19:18.95 over the last 20 plus years. 00:19:18.99\00:19:20.62 If your happy and you know it, stomp your feet. 00:19:33.67\00:19:37.81 If your happy and you know it, do all three 00:19:37.84\00:19:41.78 Hooray! 00:19:42.54\00:19:44.51 Before I came here, I knew this place from the past years. 00:19:49.35\00:19:52.79 I saw it in televisions. 00:19:52.82\00:19:54.99 From the news that this place is dangerous and many, you know, 00:19:55.02\00:20:00.53 kidnaping and abduction that has happened in this place. 00:20:00.66\00:20:03.87 I am Jovel Pagapong, and I'm a Sulads volunteer. 00:20:06.87\00:20:10.17 We are privileged to work 00:20:10.51\00:20:13.44 with our GO partner. 00:20:13.48\00:20:16.54 When there's a calling about this place, 00:20:17.91\00:20:20.38 I decided with my wife to join the work 00:20:20.42\00:20:22.88 that is to be done in this place. 00:20:22.92\00:20:25.99 And I believe this is God's calling. 00:20:26.69\00:20:29.76 Because I believe that the field is ripened 00:20:30.09\00:20:33.63 already, and God needs more volunteers, 00:20:33.66\00:20:36.73 need more dedicated individuals to to do the work. 00:20:36.77\00:20:39.87 And I'm here to serve him. 00:20:40.30\00:20:42.27 And of course, for the people in this place. 00:20:42.30\00:20:44.34 What are we doing here? 00:20:53.38\00:20:54.72 Yeah, we're doing some. 00:20:54.75\00:20:57.55 Something. We're giving apples 00:20:57.59\00:21:00.49 and oranges to these, 00:21:00.52\00:21:03.46 pupils here at upper Sinumaan. 00:21:03.49\00:21:06.19 And we're here again. 00:21:06.23\00:21:09.26 When our Bible workers 00:21:16.97\00:21:18.04 first came to Sulu, the people here were untrusting. 00:21:18.07\00:21:21.48 But over time, and through the love of Christ 00:21:21.51\00:21:24.11 shown by our workers, they have learned to trust them fully. 00:21:24.15\00:21:27.55 I've heard it said that genuine love is a precious gift 00:21:30.15\00:21:33.22 from heaven, and it becomes even more beautiful 00:21:33.25\00:21:36.26 as we share it with others. 00:21:36.29\00:21:39.36 Not all of God's people, God's children, can do the work 00:21:50.27\00:21:54.74 just like what we've done in this place. 00:21:54.78\00:21:56.68 But the means that you have offered the time that you have, 00:21:56.71\00:22:00.35 dedicated and all the blessings that you have, 00:22:00.88\00:22:03.85 which you have imparted, especially in the ministry, 00:22:03.89\00:22:07.19 do a lot in the, the work of the Lord. 00:22:07.56\00:22:11.59 Every day I ask God what to do w with the opportunity 00:22:15.20\00:22:19.67 that he has given unto us. 00:22:19.70\00:22:21.77 Every day He has given life. 00:22:21.80\00:22:23.64 And so what to do with that life? 00:22:23.67\00:22:26.74 We help them, and God through them. 00:22:28.31\00:22:31.81 Help us also. 00:22:31.85\00:22:34.92 You see, this is only the beginning. 00:22:45.83\00:22:48.73 There'll be more. 00:22:48.76\00:22:51.77 Once people get educated. 00:22:51.80\00:22:54.14 They'll leave the weapons, they'll leave their guns 00:22:54.17\00:22:57.31 and start building their lives. 00:22:57.34\00:23:00.48 It's a very rare opportunity for the military 00:23:07.68\00:23:09.98 to come down and ask us. Rare. 00:23:10.02\00:23:13.86 Before you promise heaven to somebody, show them 00:23:14.82\00:23:18.49 what kind of people will there be in heaven. 00:23:18.53\00:23:20.70 You' show them what kind of people will be there, 00:23:20.73\00:23:23.33 so that they would long for it. 00:23:23.37\00:23:25.83 They will desire to be there. 00:23:25.87\00:23:27.47 Every now and then, side by side in our front, 00:23:29.47\00:23:31.84 and at our back, there are challenges. 00:23:31.87\00:23:34.44 But one thing that has 00:23:34.48\00:23:35.61 strengthened in my faith is my connection with the Lord. 00:23:35.64\00:23:38.98 My devotional life. Put all your trust to the Lord. 00:23:39.41\00:23:43.82 Even the Scripture says that if we will ask when we pray, 00:23:44.42\00:23:48.52 then God will provide. 00:23:48.96\00:23:52.03 So it's the end of the day, and we are getting ready to leave. 00:24:09.81\00:24:13.38 And our workers are getting ready to leave with us as well, 00:24:13.42\00:24:16.12 because it's nearly Christmas time. 00:24:16.15\00:24:18.42 They're leaving, going to the mainland to spend 00:24:18.45\00:24:21.62 Christmas with their families away from the war zone. 00:24:21.66\00:24:24.73 But everyone is quite emotional. 00:24:33.20\00:24:34.60 And I was asking one of our workers why that is. 00:24:34.64\00:24:37.61 And she said that the locals are afraid 00:24:37.64\00:24:41.14 that they may never be able to see our workers again. 00:24:41.18\00:24:44.21 If things escalate while they are away, 00:24:44.35\00:24:46.28 they will be unable to return. 00:24:46.31\00:24:48.22 Bye, bye! 00:24:52.85\00:24:54.59 I believe that those who have the ability 00:25:04.10\00:25:06.80 to act bear the responsibility to do so. 00:25:06.84\00:25:10.04 You know, the Great Commission 00:25:10.67\00:25:11.94 has been entrusted to all of us as our mission on this earth. 00:25:11.97\00:25:15.31 The Gospel Outreach workers on this island 00:25:15.94\00:25:17.91 have devoted their lives to spreading the name of Jesus, 00:25:17.95\00:25:21.02 even going so far as sacrificing the most basic of comforts. 00:25:21.15\00:25:25.59 Everyone's calling is unique. 00:25:26.89\00:25:29.52 So my question to you is what is your mission field? 00:25:29.56\00:25:33.06 Have you sincerely sought the Lord's guidance on 00:25:33.50\00:25:36.16 what you are to do in his service? 00:25:36.20\00:25:39.27 If not, I really encourage you to do so. 00:25:39.40\00:25:42.20 Earnest seeking will reveal your mission field. 00:25:42.24\00:25:48.18 But for Lexi and I, we have been forever 00:25:48.21\00:25:50.88 changed by this experience and we will continue to support 00:25:50.91\00:25:55.95 Gospel Outreaches and vital work in the 1040 window. 00:25:55.98\00:26:00.09 Hi, friends, I want to thank 00:26:29.35\00:26:30.59 you so much for watching this episode of Destination 10/40. 00:26:30.62\00:26:34.49 You know, there is so much to this story 00:26:34.72\00:26:36.62 that we were unable to share 00:26:36.66\00:26:38.06 in this video, but I just want to ask you, 00:26:38.09\00:26:40.30 please continue 00:26:40.33\00:26:41.33 to pray for the Gospel Outreach sponsored workers 00:26:41.36\00:26:43.70 who are working in the province of Sulu. 00:26:43.73\00:26:46.00 This is not an easy job. 00:26:46.03\00:26:47.74 The devil is working hard in the province of Sulu, 00:26:47.77\00:26:51.11 but the Lord is stronger and these people are sacrificing 00:26:51.14\00:26:54.34 so much to be working in the Lord's service. 00:26:54.38\00:26:57.55 Also, I want to thank the Sulads organization. 00:26:57.85\00:27:01.12 The Sulads is a phenomenal organization 00:27:01.15\00:27:03.59 that's been around since the 1960s, 00:27:03.62\00:27:05.99 and a majority of the Gospel Outreach workers in the 00:27:06.02\00:27:09.66 Philippines are being managed by the Sulads. 00:27:09.69\00:27:12.39 They specialize in reaching 00:27:12.43\00:27:14.63 minority groups, 00:27:14.66\00:27:15.66 people who live in very remote places 00:27:15.70\00:27:17.80 and working with the Muslim communities. 00:27:17.83\00:27:19.97 And so we 00:27:20.00\00:27:21.30 really appreciate their support in managing our Gospel Outreach 00:27:21.34\00:27:24.84 sponsored workers. 00:27:24.87\00:27:26.04 It would not be possible to work in the places that we work 00:27:26.07\00:27:29.61 if it wasn't for the Sulads. 00:27:29.64\00:27:31.31 If you enjoyed this episode of Destination 10/4 00:27:33.88\00:27:36.48 and you want to watch more episodes, you can visit 00:27:36.52\00:27:38.79 gotvmissions.org 00:27:38.82\00:27:43.93 And if you want to learn more 00:27:43.96\00:27:45.09 about Gospel Outreach and learn how you can get involved 00:27:45.13\00:27:48.26 with Gospel Outreach, 00:27:48.30\00:27:49.43 maybe in sponsoring a Bible worker or a health worker, 00:27:49.46\00:27:52.77 or you want to find out how you can pray for a Bible worker, 00:27:52.97\00:27:56.04 go to the Gospel Outreach website. 00:27:56.24\00:27:58.11 goaim.org 00:27:58.14\00:28:01.94 and from there you can learn more about Gospel Outreach 00:28:02.11\00:28:05.15 and the work that they are doing throughout the 1040 window. 00:28:05.18\00:28:08.45 Thank you so much for watching. 00:28:11.82\00:28:13.29 We are so honored to be able to share this experience with you, 00:28:13.32\00:28:16.83 and may God richly bless you. 00:28:17.09\00:28:19.36
