Jesus, Himself, said.

chapter 8 verse 29,

He said something that is
so profound that I want to

share it with you.

Jesus said in John
chapter 8 verse 29,
00:03:04.08\00:03:07.58
He said, "And He
that sent Me is with Me.
00:03:07.61\00:03:10.85
The Father hath
not left Me alone,
00:03:10.88\00:03:13.93
for I do always those
things that please Him. "

My listening friend,
isn't that astounding

how Jesus always did something
that pleased the Father?

And because He always did
that which pleased the Father,

the Father always
heard His prayers.

God answered His prayers.

The Bible tells us now,
in John chapter 11 verse 42,

Jesus said, praying at the tomb
of Lazarus before he was raised,

Jesus said in verse
42 of John chapter 11,
00:03:49.25\00:03:53.55
He said, "And I knew
that Thou hearest Me always.
00:03:53.58\00:03:58.15
But because of the
people which stand by I said it,
00:03:58.18\00:04:00.63
that they may believe
that Thou hast sent Me. "

So Jesus, when He
prayed, the Father heard and

answered His prayers.

And I think it's important
for us to look at ways that

God chooses to
answer our prayers.

As we said on a previous
telecast, that God says "yes,"

God says "no," and
God also says "wait. "

And I think "wait" is one
of the most difficult ones

that most of us have.

Once again, God says
"yes," God says "no,"

and God says "wait. "

But He says all
three of these through

an understanding of the Bible.

Oh yes, beloved, God
can answer your prayer

through an
understanding of the Bible.

Read Acts chapter
17 verses 11 and 12.

God also answers
our prayers through the

strengthening
of your inner life.

You remember the story of
how, in 1 Samuel chapter 30,
00:04:55.18\00:04:59.15
David's camp had been
raided by a warring faction.
00:04:59.18\00:05:04.91
And they took his
wife and his children.
00:05:04.94\00:05:08.29
And all the men who
were with him, they took
00:05:08.32\00:05:10.57
their wives and kids.
00:05:10.60\00:05:11.99
And when they came back
to camp and saw everything
00:05:12.02\00:05:14.33
was gone, everybody
was crying, they were sad.
00:05:14.36\00:05:16.76
And David came
aside, and the Bible says in
00:05:16.79\00:05:20.63
1 Samuel chapter
30 verses 6 through 8,
00:05:20.66\00:05:24.80
it says, "And David encouraged
himself in the Lord. "

So you and I can
have our prayers answered

through our own inner
life being strengthened.

Also God answers
our prayers through a

change in our attitude.

You remember the
story about the prodigal son

in Luke chapter 15
verses 17 through 19.

The Bible says that the prodigal
son, it says he came to himself.

Oh yes beloved, God can speak to
you through your own conscience.

And then also, the
Bible shows that God answers
00:05:57.23\00:06:00.26
prayer through the
cooperation of other people.

God can send other
people to your aid.
00:06:02.95\00:06:05.91
In Matthew chapter 9
verse 2, here's a man who
00:06:05.94\00:06:09.62
is sick with the palsy.
00:06:09.63\00:06:11.08
And the Bible says his
friends came and got him
00:06:11.11\00:06:14.53
and carried him to where Jesus
was and they tore open the roof
00:06:14.56\00:06:18.71
and they let this sick
man down through the roof.
00:06:18.74\00:06:21.90
Oh yes, beloved.
And he was healed.
00:06:21.93\00:06:24.68
Jesus told him, "Thy
faith hath made thee whole. "
00:06:24.71\00:06:28.31
Oh yes, this is so important
beloved, that we need to
00:06:28.34\00:06:31.50
see and understand
the different ways that
00:06:31.53\00:06:33.39
God answers our prayers.
00:06:33.40\00:06:35.49
And oh, did he
not have joy that day.
00:06:35.52\00:06:39.10
The Bible also shows us
that God answers our prayers
00:06:39.13\00:06:43.51
in another significant way.
00:06:43.52\00:06:45.24
He uses us to
answer our own prayers.
00:06:45.27\00:06:48.55
You see, it's most
important for you to understand
00:06:48.58\00:06:51.69
that after you have
prayed then you ought to do

with all in your power to
answer your own prayer request.

You remember the story in
Acts chapter 10 about Cornelius.
00:06:59.37\00:07:04.19
The Bible says in Acts
10 verse 1, "There was a
00:07:04.22\00:07:07.25
certain man in Caesarea called
Cornelius, a centurion of the
00:07:07.28\00:07:11.18
band called the Italian
band, a devout man and one that
00:07:11.21\00:07:15.33
feared God with all his
house, which gave much alms
00:07:15.36\00:07:18.47
to the people, and
prayed to God always. "
00:07:18.50\00:07:21.16
And God honored him
because he lived up to all the
00:07:21.19\00:07:25.07
light that he knew.
00:07:25.10\00:07:26.42
And God sent an angel
to tell him what to do.
00:07:26.45\00:07:29.92
He sent for Peter.
00:07:29.95\00:07:31.38
Peter came to his
house, shared the gospel,
00:07:31.41\00:07:34.06
and he and his
entire household were saved.
00:07:34.09\00:07:37.51
They were baptized.
00:07:37.54\00:07:38.77
My listening
friends, God can use you

to answer your own prayers.

And then of course,
the Bible reveals that God

answers His prayers through
His own miraculous intervention.

That's right, beloved,
God will intervene in your
00:07:50.06\00:07:52.83
life miraculously.
00:07:52.86\00:07:54.72
For instance, in Acts
chapter 12 verses 1 through 17.
00:07:54.73\00:07:59.24
Here we find the apostle Peter.
00:07:59.27\00:08:01.86
He is in prison and he
is surrounded by guards.
00:08:01.89\00:08:05.40
There's no way possible that
Peter can get out of prison.
00:08:05.41\00:08:09.58
He has chains on both of
his feet, his hands, his waist.
00:08:09.61\00:08:14.31
There's a guard
inside the cell with him.
00:08:14.34\00:08:17.39
There are guards
outside the cell.
00:08:17.42\00:08:19.29
There's no way
possible that Peter can escape.
00:08:19.32\00:08:22.38
And the Bible reveals
that God sent an angel in
00:08:22.41\00:08:26.61
and put the guards to sleep
and loosed all the shackles
00:08:26.64\00:08:33.81
and the chains
that were on Peter.
00:08:33.82\00:08:35.43
And Peter came out miraculously.
00:08:35.46\00:08:37.80
So much so that when
Peter got to his house,
00:08:37.83\00:08:41.37
the people couldn't believe it.
00:08:41.40\00:08:43.05
But remember, the Bible
says that prayer was made
00:08:43.08\00:08:46.75
by the church for him.
00:08:46.78\00:08:48.82
So God will
intervene miraculously.
00:08:48.85\00:08:52.33
That indeed was a miracle.
00:08:52.36\00:08:54.35
And I can assure you
there was joy in that house
00:08:54.38\00:08:57.95
for answered prayer.
00:08:57.98\00:09:00.01
And then last but not least,
God will also answer prayers
00:09:00.04\00:09:04.12
through and understanding
of the spirit of prophecy.
00:09:04.16\00:09:08.43
Look at Daniel chapter 2.
00:09:08.47\00:09:10.70
In Daniel chapter 2, we
find the king Nebuchadnezzar.
00:09:10.73\00:09:15.52
He had a dream about this
statue and he forgot the dream.
00:09:15.55\00:09:23.45
And he wanted to know the
interpretation of the dream.
00:09:23.48\00:09:26.11
And he brought all
of his wise men together
00:09:26.14\00:09:28.40
and nobody could bring forth the
dream nor the interpretation.
00:09:28.43\00:09:32.61
But the Bible says when
Daniel found out about it,
00:09:32.64\00:09:35.93
he and the three Hebrew
boys, they went into prayer.
00:09:35.96\00:09:40.17
They went into their
secret closet and they spent
00:09:40.20\00:09:42.95
quality time in prayer.
00:09:42.98\00:09:44.52
And God revealed to Daniel...
00:09:44.55\00:09:48.34
Not only did He give him
the dream, but He gave him the
00:09:48.37\00:09:50.40
interpretation of all that
Nebuchadnezzar had on his bed.
00:09:50.43\00:09:54.49
Beloved, there was joy in that
household for answered prayer.
00:09:54.52\00:09:59.03
And I want to share with
you, beloved, that God will
00:09:59.06\00:10:02.19
answer your prayers just as He
did these different individuals.
00:10:02.22\00:10:06.72
And in order for us to
understand the importance
00:10:06.75\00:10:09.57
of answered prayer, we need
to look at some Bible conditions
00:10:09.60\00:10:14.47
for answered prayer.
00:10:14.50\00:10:15.88
You see, God will
answer our prayers.
00:10:15.91\00:10:19.13
Look at 1 John chapter
5 beginning at verse 14.
00:10:19.16\00:10:26.92
1 John chapter 5
verse 14, the Bible says,
00:10:26.93\00:10:31.02
"And this is the
confidence that we have in Him,
00:10:31.03\00:10:33.63
that if we ask
anything according to His will,
00:10:33.66\00:10:37.36
He heareth us.
00:10:37.39\00:10:38.94
And if we know that He hear
us, whatsoever we ask, we know
00:10:38.97\00:10:43.77
that we have the petitions
that we desired of Him. "
00:10:43.80\00:10:50.53
That is so important
for us to understand.

Now in this beautiful

Now let's look
at need number one
00:11:44.27\00:11:46.93
or Bible condition number one.

The Bible tells us now according
to Isaiah chapter 44 verse 3
00:11:49.73\00:11:54.52
that one of the prerequisite
conditions for answered prayer
00:11:54.55\00:12:00.71
that is you must
feel your need of prayer.
00:12:00.74\00:12:04.18
You must have a sense
of needing to talk to God
00:12:04.21\00:12:08.87
about your problem.
00:12:08.90\00:12:10.69
Also Bible condition number two,
and it's a very important one,

and that is, do not cherish sin.

The Bible says in
Psalm 66 verse 18,
00:12:20.56\00:12:26.67
and I want to share
that point, beloved, because
00:12:26.70\00:12:29.04
this is a very important
condition for answered prayer.
00:12:29.07\00:12:33.79
Psalm 66 verse 18, the Bible
says, "If I regard iniquity
00:12:33.82\00:12:39.78
in my heart, the
Lord will not hear me. "
00:12:39.81\00:12:42.64
Notice now, when you and
I have iniquity or we are
00:12:42.67\00:12:47.52
committing some known sin,
God will not hear our prayers.
00:12:47.55\00:12:51.58
Remember what
happened to Adam and Eve.
00:12:51.61\00:12:53.63
When they sinned against God,
they hid, they ran from God.
00:12:53.66\00:12:57.39
Sin separates us from God.
00:12:57.42\00:13:00.14
And so what we want to
do, beloved, we want to
00:13:00.17\00:13:02.64
acknowledge all of our sins.
00:13:02.67\00:13:04.56
We don't want any sinful habit
or act or deed or whatever that
00:13:04.59\00:13:09.80
may be wrong to hinder our
prayers from being answered.

The Bible says in
Psalm 32 verses 1 and 2,
00:13:13.82\00:13:17.97
it says, "Blessed is he
who transgression is forgiven,
00:13:18.00\00:13:21.66
whose sin is covered.
00:13:21.69\00:13:23.17
Blessed is the man unto whom
the Lord imputeth not iniquity,
00:13:23.20\00:13:27.27
and in whose spirit
there is no guile. "
00:13:27.30\00:13:30.32
I tell you beloved,
this is so important.
00:13:30.35\00:13:33.06
As you see this illustration
of the ten commandments,

the ten commandments are
God's standard of righteousness.

If you want to learn about
right doing, then look at God's

law of ten commandments.

The Bible says
in James chapter 2,

I want you to look at
that very quickly now.

In James chapter 2
verses 10 through 12

the Bible says, "For whosoever
shall keep the whole law

and yet offend in one
point, he is guilty of all.

For He that said,
'Do not commit adultery,'
00:14:04.16\00:14:06.33
said also, 'Do not kill. '
00:14:06.36\00:14:07.79
Now if thou commit no
adultery yet if thou kill,

thou art become a
transgressor of the law.

So speak ye, and so do,
as they that shall be judged

by the law of liberty. "

And we've also seen
how God spoke and gave the

ten commandments on
tables of stone to Moses.

And we can read about
that in Exodus chapter 20

verses 1 through 17.

But also, the Bible
shares some interesting insights

on who's going to be in the
new heaven and the new earth.

The Bible says in
Revelation chapter 22 verse 14,

it shares who's going to
enter into the heavenly city.

It says in Revelation 22
verse 14, "Blessed are they
00:14:49.04\00:14:52.94
that do His commandments,
that they may have right to the
00:14:52.97\00:14:56.41
tree of life and
may enter in through the
00:14:56.44\00:14:58.60
gates into the city. "
00:14:58.61\00:15:00.47
I tell you beloved,
this thing is so important,
00:15:00.50\00:15:02.74
that if I regard iniquity in
my heart, it could prevent me
00:15:02.77\00:15:06.71
from being in
God's kingdom of glory.

And I want to be there, beloved.

What about you?

Remember
something that Jesus said.
00:15:11.50\00:15:13.28
He said, "If you love
Me, keep My commandments. "

And the Bible also says
in 1 John chapter 5 verse 17
00:15:16.21\00:15:20.83
that all unrighteousness is sin.
00:15:20.86\00:15:24.17
So we want to make
sure that we understand this
00:15:24.20\00:15:27.81
condition for answered prayer.
00:15:27.82\00:15:30.24
Confess all known sin to God.
00:15:30.27\00:15:33.53
And then the third condition
is that we must learn to
00:15:33.54\00:15:36.80
pray in faith.

The Bible says in James
chapter 1 verses 5 and 6,

a very important
text of scripture.

I trust and pray now
that you are looking at these

text of scripture,

down as I mention them.

Because I want you to
read and study for yourself

and see these
conditions that will help you

to have answered prayer.

And truly there will be joy
in your relationship with Jesus.

In James chapter 1
verse 5 and 6, the Bible says,

"If any of you lack
wisdom, let him ask of God,

that giveth to all men
liberally, and upbraideth not;
00:16:11.39\00:16:13.94
and it shall be given him.
00:16:13.97\00:16:15.13
But let him ask in
faith, nothing wavering. "
00:16:15.16\00:16:18.73
To have faith simply
means to trust and believe
00:16:18.76\00:16:22.24
that God is able to do what He
has promised to do in His word.

Yes beloved, you
want to have faith.

Pray in faith.

Number four, we want to
cultivate a forgiving spirit.

Didn't Jesus tell us that
in Matthew chapter 6 verse 12?
00:16:35.59\00:16:41.05
He said forgive others
even as God also forgives us.
00:16:41.08\00:16:45.49
So you see, we can determine
whether we will be forgiven
00:16:45.52\00:16:48.42
by the way that we
forgive other people.
00:16:48.45\00:16:50.12
And so I know that you're
going to enjoy fulfilling this
00:16:50.15\00:16:55.31
Bible condition of
cultivating a forgiving spirit.
00:16:55.34\00:16:58.78
The Bible says in Psalm 51,
one of the most famous verses
00:16:58.81\00:17:04.74
about acquiring forgiveness.
00:17:04.75\00:17:07.46
It says in Psalm
51 verses 10 and 11,
00:17:07.49\00:17:16.40
the Bible says, "Create
in me a clean heart, oh God;
00:17:16.43\00:17:20.33
and renew a
right spirit within me.
00:17:20.36\00:17:22.78
Cast me not away from
Thy presence; and take not
00:17:22.81\00:17:26.25
Thy holy Spirit from me.
00:17:26.28\00:17:28.41
Restore unto me the
joy of Thy salvation;

and uphold me
with Thy free Spirit.

Then will I teach
transgressors Thy ways;

salvation in any other.

So we want to pray
in the name of Jesus.

most, I think the most hindering

obstacle for all prayers
is this particular issue.

The biggest prayer
hindering wall is sin.

And remember, sin is
an attitude of rebellion

against the government of God.

Remember now, there are physical
laws which govern gravity.

Then there are civil laws.

And we know all about the
traffic laws and so forth.

But then again, there
is moral law which governs

theft, marriage,
murder, and worship.

And this is found in Exodus
chapter 20 verses 1 through 17.

remember, long before God

gave the ten
commandments on Mount Sinai,

the ten commandments
were already in effect.

That's how Adam and Eve
were brought to the attention

that they had sinned.

You see, Adam and Eve
knew about the law of God.

And so sin is the biggest prayer
hindering wall that there is.

And so what we want to do,
beloved, is follow the counsel

given in 1 John
chapter 1 verse 9.

The Bible says, "If we
confess our sins, He is faithful

and just to forgive us
our sins, and to cleanse us

practice these conditions for

joy in your prayer experience;
