Our presentation is entitled Babylon Is Alive and Well 00:00:15.26\00:00:18.80 that's the study guide, and also God has a Church on Earth 00:00:18.83\00:00:22.81 No Kidding! 00:00:24.62\00:00:25.59 Now last evening we spent some time looking at Babylon 00:00:25.97\00:00:28.93 and we're going to spend some more time in Revelation 17. 00:00:28.96\00:00:31.83 But the first passage of scripture I would like to 00:00:31.86\00:00:33.78 take you to is actually in Ezekiel 9, 00:00:33.81\00:00:36.47 Ezekiel 9, let's go there together, we will probably begin 00:00:36.50\00:00:39.83 in chapter 8 to sort of set the context for chapter 9, 00:00:39.86\00:00:42.67 you can find Ezekiel, that's the book right before Daniel. 00:00:42.70\00:00:45.25 We're going to Ezekiel, and we'll start in chapter 8, 00:00:45.28\00:00:49.08 Ezekiel chapter 8, and this is going to help us understand 00:00:49.11\00:00:53.09 the seriousness and the urgency of the co-mingling of truth 00:00:54.49\00:00:58.49 and error, the seriousness and the urgency of the 00:01:01.02\00:01:04.52 co-mingling of that which is true and Biblical 00:01:04.98\00:01:07.81 with that which is not true and is un-biblical. 00:01:07.84\00:01:10.33 So I'm in Ezekiel 8:1, and here is chapter 8 we find 00:01:10.36\00:01:14.27 the prophet Ezekiel receiving a Tour de Force of the 00:01:14.83\00:01:18.32 abominations and error that encrypt in even to Israel 00:01:18.35\00:01:21.28 and we're going to sort of take this tour with Ezekiel. 00:01:21.31\00:01:25.20 It's really kind of fascinating how the tour takes place 00:01:25.23\00:01:27.29 God takes Ezekiel by a lock of his hair, and in prophetic 00:01:27.32\00:01:31.30 vision, lifts him up by his hair and actually starts 00:01:31.60\00:01:34.44 taking him around on as we've said a Tour de Force 00:01:34.47\00:01:37.70 of all of the abominations that were taking place 00:01:37.73\00:01:40.30 and the abominations subsequently get worse, 00:01:40.33\00:01:42.60 and worse, and worse, and worse, so let's pick that up 00:01:42.63\00:01:46.52 in Ezekiel 8, beginning in verse one: 00:01:46.55\00:01:48.42 And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, 00:01:48.45\00:01:51.67 on the fifth day of the month, as I sat in my house with the 00:01:51.70\00:01:54.22 elders of Judah sitting before me, that the hand of the Lord 00:01:54.25\00:01:56.77 fell upon me there. 00:01:56.80\00:01:58.00 Then I looked, and there was a likeness, 00:01:58.03\00:01:59.87 like the appearance of fire -from the appearance 00:01:59.90\00:02:02.58 of His waist and downward, fire; and from His waist and upward, 00:02:02.61\00:02:05.56 like the appearance of brightness, 00:02:05.59\00:02:06.99 like the color of amber. 00:02:07.02\00:02:07.99 Here he is seeing God in vision, verse 3. 00:02:08.00\00:02:10.87 He stretched out the form of a hand, and took me 00:02:11.29\00:02:14.05 by a lock of my hair; and the Spirit lifted me up 00:02:14.08\00:02:17.07 between earth and heaven, and brought me in visions of 00:02:17.10\00:02:19.89 God to Jerusalem, to the door of the north gate 00:02:19.92\00:02:22.87 of the inner court, where the seat of the image of jealousy 00:02:22.90\00:02:25.70 was, which provokes to jealousy. 00:02:25.73\00:02:27.96 And behold, the glory of the God of Israel was there, 00:02:27.99\00:02:31.32 like the vision that I saw in the plain. 00:02:31.35\00:02:33.02 Then He said to me, Son of man, lift your eyes now 00:02:33.05\00:02:35.97 toward the north. 00:02:36.00\00:02:36.97 So I lifted my eyes toward the north, and there, 00:02:36.98\00:02:38.86 north of the altar gate, was this image of jealousy 00:02:38.89\00:02:41.96 in the entrance. 00:02:41.99\00:02:42.96 That is to say, right in the very entrance of the temple 00:02:42.97\00:02:46.47 of God there was an idol that had been set up. 00:02:46.50\00:02:49.34 Verse 6. Furthermore He said to me, 00:02:49.37\00:02:51.27 Son of man, do you see what they are doing, 00:02:51.30\00:02:53.11 the great abominations that the house of Israel commits here 00:02:53.14\00:02:56.23 to make Me go far away from My sanctuary? 00:02:56.26\00:02:59.26 Now turn again, you will see greater abominations. 00:02:59.31\00:03:02.82 And so God here takes Ezekiel and brings him right to the gate 00:03:02.90\00:03:06.03 of the temple, the entrance of the temple, 00:03:06.06\00:03:07.80 and sitting was an alter, an image to a pagan God, 00:03:07.83\00:03:11.47 and he says, do you see this? 00:03:12.64\00:03:13.87 Do you see this image of jealousy right in the very 00:03:13.90\00:03:16.87 entrance to my temple and Ezekiel would have said yes 00:03:16.90\00:03:19.38 I see that Lord, and he said I will show you even greater 00:03:19.41\00:03:21.73 abominations than these. 00:03:21.76\00:03:23.13 Verse 7. So He brought me to the door of the court; 00:03:23.16\00:03:25.70 and when I looked, there was a hole in the wall. 00:03:25.73\00:03:27.51 Then He said to me, Son of man, dig into the wall; 00:03:27.54\00:03:30.29 and when I dug into the wall, there was a door. 00:03:30.32\00:03:32.04 And He said to me, Go in, and see the wicked 00:03:32.07\00:03:34.04 abominations which they are doing there. 00:03:34.07\00:03:35.60 Now remember this is in the temple, not some pagan temple 00:03:35.63\00:03:39.33 of the temple of Baal, this is the temple of God. 00:03:39.36\00:03:41.92 Verse 10. So I went in and saw, and there-every sort of 00:03:41.95\00:03:44.70 creeping thing, abominable beasts, and all the idols 00:03:44.73\00:03:47.14 of the house of Israel, portrayed all around 00:03:47.17\00:03:49.79 on the walls. 00:03:49.82\00:03:50.79 And there stood before them seventy men of the elders 00:03:50.80\00:03:52.93 of the house of Israel, and in their midst stood Jaazaniah 00:03:52.96\00:03:56.00 the son of Shaphan. 00:03:56.03\00:03:57.20 Each man had a censer in his hand, and a thick cloud 00:03:57.23\00:04:00.04 of incense went up. 00:04:00.07\00:04:01.04 Then He said to me, Son of man, have you seen 00:04:01.05\00:04:02.85 what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, 00:04:02.88\00:04:05.03 every man in the room of his idols? 00:04:05.06\00:04:07.54 For they say, "The LORD does not see us, 00:04:07.57\00:04:09.39 the LORD has forsaken us. " 00:04:09.42\00:04:11.05 Verse 13. And He said to me, Turn again, and you will see 00:04:11.08\00:04:14.21 greater abominations than these they are doing. 00:04:14.24\00:04:17.50 And so he takes them from the image of jealousy 00:04:17.53\00:04:19.73 and now he brings them, he says you see this hole 00:04:19.76\00:04:21.19 in this temple wall, I see it dig into that hole, go in there 00:04:21.22\00:04:24.30 into the temple and see what the priests are doing 00:04:24.33\00:04:27.52 in darkness, and as Ezekiel the prophet of the Lord 00:04:27.55\00:04:30.28 is sort of like a fly on the wall, 00:04:30.31\00:04:32.02 looking through the keyhole there, and he sees that God's 00:04:32.05\00:04:35.05 own priests, God's what everyone? 00:04:35.08\00:04:37.45 God's own priests were worshiping idols in an 00:04:37.94\00:04:41.20 absolutely incredible way, right in the very temple, 00:04:42.32\00:04:45.91 right in the very house of God, and I can just imagine 00:04:45.94\00:04:48.55 in my mind's eye Ezekiel saying I can't believe this. 00:04:48.58\00:04:50.89 I can't believe that the professed people of God 00:04:50.92\00:04:54.35 are worshiping these idols in the temple of God. 00:04:54.38\00:04:57.80 But he said to them, you think this is bad, 00:04:58.15\00:05:00.03 you'll see even worse abominations than these. 00:05:00.06\00:05:02.26 I'm in verse 14, So He brought me to the door 00:05:02.29\00:05:05.40 of the north gate of the Lord's house; and to my dismay, 00:05:05.43\00:05:08.43 women were sitting there weeping for Tammuz. 00:05:08.46\00:05:11.54 That's one of the fertility Gods of paganism, 00:05:11.75\00:05:14.73 Then He said to me, Have you seen this, 00:05:14.76\00:05:16.12 O son of man? Turn again, you will see greater 00:05:16.15\00:05:18.31 abominations than these. 00:05:18.34\00:05:19.69 Here were people who were weeping for this pagan goddess 00:05:19.72\00:05:23.16 Tammuz, and you can just imagine God saying 00:05:23.19\00:05:25.65 see this Ezekiel, these are my people. 00:05:25.68\00:05:27.27 These aren't the heathen, these aren't the gentiles, 00:05:27.30\00:05:29.63 these aren't the pagan's, these are my people 00:05:29.66\00:05:31.76 see what they are doing, and I can just imagine 00:05:31.79\00:05:33.26 Ezekiel saying, I see it Lord, but I can hardly believe it, 00:05:33.29\00:05:36.30 and he says you will see greater abominations even than these. 00:05:36.33\00:05:39.30 Verse 16. So He brought me into the inner court of the 00:05:39.33\00:05:42.72 Lord's house; and there, at the door of the temple 00:05:42.75\00:05:45.22 of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, 00:05:45.25\00:05:47.07 were about twenty-five men with their backs toward 00:05:47.10\00:05:49.09 the temple of the LORD and their faces toward the east, 00:05:49.12\00:05:51.69 and they were worshiping the sun toward the east. 00:05:51.72\00:05:55.20 And He said to me, Have you seen this, 00:05:56.20\00:05:57.62 O son of man? 00:05:57.65\00:05:58.62 Is it a trivial thing to the house of Judah to commit 00:05:58.63\00:06:01.19 the abominations which they commit here? 00:06:01.22\00:06:02.94 For they have filled the land with violence; 00:06:02.97\00:06:05.15 then they have returned to provoke Me to anger. 00:06:05.18\00:06:07.72 Indeed they put the branch to their nose. 00:06:07.75\00:06:09.62 That's kind of an unusual ancient way of saying that 00:06:09.65\00:06:13.25 they are basically snuffing at me, disinterested in me. 00:06:13.28\00:06:17.12 Verse 18. Therefore I also will act in fury. 00:06:17.30\00:06:20.14 My eye will not spare nor will I have pity; 00:06:20.17\00:06:22.63 and though they cry in My ears with a loud voice, 00:06:22.66\00:06:25.02 I will not hear them. 00:06:25.05\00:06:26.02 When God is taking Ezekiel on this sort of Tour de Force 00:06:26.03\00:06:29.45 of the abominations of Israel, He caps it off 00:06:29.48\00:06:32.50 with the capstone, the most egregious violation 00:06:32.53\00:06:35.79 was the worship of the sun in the very temple of God. 00:06:36.16\00:06:39.96 At each subsequent stage He said you see this, 00:06:39.99\00:06:42.77 I see this, you will see worse. 00:06:42.80\00:06:43.99 Do you see this, I see this, you will see worse. 00:06:44.02\00:06:46.35 Do you see this, I see it, you will see worse. 00:06:46.38\00:06:48.61 And as the capstone, as the crescendo, he brings them 00:06:48.64\00:06:51.69 right in to the very house of God, and they are worshipping 00:06:51.72\00:06:54.36 the sun in the temple of God. 00:06:54.39\00:06:56.51 Fascinating, if you go on to read then in Ezekiel 9 00:06:57.01\00:07:00.73 it's very interesting what happens in Ezekiel 9 is 00:07:02.26\00:07:05.29 people receive a mark, people receive a what everyone? 00:07:05.32\00:07:08.88 They receive a mark, and it is fascinating because that 00:07:08.91\00:07:12.06 it parallel's exactly what the seal of God, and the mark 00:07:12.09\00:07:14.76 of the beast that we discover there in Revelation 00:07:14.79\00:07:16.93 chapter 13, and those that didn't have God's mark, 00:07:16.96\00:07:19.83 and those that didn't have God's seal were slain. 00:07:19.86\00:07:23.00 Are we talking about serious things? 00:07:23.03\00:07:25.16 Are we talking about unimportant things, which one? 00:07:25.19\00:07:27.43 Serious things beloved, and so in Ezekiel 8 and Ezekiel 9, 00:07:27.46\00:07:31.44 we saw the worship of the son right in the very temple of God 00:07:31.67\00:07:35.67 we're talking about Babylon, and we learned yesterday 00:07:36.01\00:07:38.42 that Babylon is the center of man made worship. 00:07:38.45\00:07:40.88 They built the tower of Babel and they said come let us build 00:07:40.91\00:07:43.59 a tower up into the highest of the high heavens, 00:07:43.62\00:07:45.38 and many expositors have recognized that they were 00:07:45.41\00:07:47.47 going to probably build a temple high, high, high, 00:07:47.50\00:07:49.70 and a tower high, high, high, so if a flood ever came again 00:07:49.73\00:07:52.01 they could save themselves by their own what? 00:07:52.04\00:07:54.74 By their own works, and so Babylon represented man made 00:07:54.77\00:07:58.33 religion, but Babylon was also the center of image worship 00:07:58.36\00:08:01.82 and we talked about how all systems and streams of 00:08:01.85\00:08:04.81 idolatry flowed from that fountain head stream there 00:08:04.84\00:08:07.99 in Babylon. 00:08:08.02\00:08:08.99 So not only was it the center of image worship, 00:08:09.00\00:08:11.40 not only was it the center of man made religion, 00:08:11.43\00:08:13.54 it was the center of false teaching about death. 00:08:13.57\00:08:16.55 False teachings about what every one? 00:08:16.58\00:08:18.86 Death! And we talked about this idea of the immortality 00:08:18.89\00:08:21.94 of the soul, and how that crept into the church, 00:08:21.97\00:08:24.86 and through the back door. 00:08:24.89\00:08:25.86 It was basically a pagan concept that was adopted 00:08:25.87\00:08:29.05 by the Pharisee's, that was adopted by the early church, 00:08:29.08\00:08:32.58 that is to say the Catholics, and has been bequeathed 00:08:32.61\00:08:35.19 as a sacred legacy to Protestantism, 00:08:35.22\00:08:37.16 but the idea of innate immortality 00:08:37.19\00:08:39.62 or innate inherent immortality 00:08:39.65\00:08:41.67 is not a Biblical teaching at all, in fact it's a pagan 00:08:41.83\00:08:44.76 teaching called Platonic dualism, sometimes referred to 00:08:44.79\00:08:47.56 as anthropological dualism. 00:08:47.59\00:08:49.39 So now we're going to discover that Babylon is also the center 00:08:49.49\00:08:53.08 of sun worship, the center of what everyone? 00:08:53.11\00:08:55.91 Sun worship, and that is right there in your study guide. 00:08:55.94\00:08:58.40 The Worship of Nature Volume 1 James Brazer this is from 00:08:58.43\00:09:01.69 page 529: 00:09:01.72\00:09:02.69 So this was a politically motivated thing. 00:09:30.94\00:09:33.18 Constantine basically looked out at his empire, 00:09:33.21\00:09:35.50 he saw that he had a significant percentage that were Christians 00:09:35.53\00:09:38.08 a significant percentage that were pagans, 00:09:38.11\00:09:40.84 and out of political expediency he decided to try an amalgamate, 00:09:40.87\00:09:44.85 what word did I say everyone? 00:09:45.88\00:09:47.51 Amalgamate which means to combine, he tried to combine 00:09:47.54\00:09:51.32 this pseudo paganism, with this pseudo Christianity 00:09:51.35\00:09:54.87 and bring it all together, and the Christians were excited 00:09:54.97\00:09:57.06 about it, because they thought it was evangelism, 00:09:57.09\00:09:58.94 the problem was is that those people who were coming in 00:09:58.97\00:10:01.04 to the church, were not leaving their old ways 00:10:01.07\00:10:03.37 at the door, they were bringing those old ways in to the church. 00:10:03.40\00:10:06.80 And so the people were not converted, they were simply 00:10:06.83\00:10:09.07 making a profession, they were making a what everyone? 00:10:09.10\00:10:12.22 Profession, in fact that's what most historians 00:10:12.25\00:10:14.38 believe about Constantine's own conversion. 00:10:14.41\00:10:16.42 They believe that he didn't have anything like a conversion 00:10:16.45\00:10:18.42 most historians, they believe that Constantine's conversion 00:10:18.45\00:10:21.41 was strictly a politically expedient thing to do 00:10:21.44\00:10:24.81 in order to sort of bring unity to his empire. 00:10:25.18\00:10:27.24 One of the things that they did is, they united the Christian 00:10:27.27\00:10:31.03 Sabbath, the Sabbath of the Lord with the venerable day of 00:10:31.06\00:10:34.92 the sun, and eventually for a time there, both days were kept 00:10:34.95\00:10:38.55 then eventually the Sabbath day began to fall off, 00:10:38.58\00:10:40.59 and Sunday receives increasing and increasing prominence, 00:10:40.62\00:10:43.22 that's exactly what's being communicated here. 00:10:43.25\00:10:44.85 Now notice this one from the Catholic World, 00:10:44.88\00:10:46.86 March 1984, page 809, from William Gildea: 00:10:46.89\00:10:49.85 The quotation goes on: 00:11:09.43\00:11:11.00 So it was a transference of the venerable day of the sun 00:11:35.26\00:11:39.26 S- U-N over to the Son of God S-O-N, that's not something 00:11:40.21\00:11:44.21 that Jesus did, that's not something the Apostolic church 00:11:45.26\00:11:47.77 did, that's something that took place in the 3rd and 4th 00:11:47.80\00:11:51.04 centuries as the church began to accommodate paganism. 00:11:51.07\00:11:54.80 If that makes sense I want you to say Amen. 00:11:55.34\00:11:57.24 And that's why we consistently offered ten thousand dollars 00:11:57.27\00:11:59.90 cash for anybody who can produce any text that says that 00:11:59.93\00:12:03.39 Jesus changed the Sabbath or that God changed the Sabbath 00:12:03.42\00:12:06.63 or that the Apostolic church changed the Sabbath. 00:12:06.66\00:12:09.02 Are we together on that everyone? 00:12:09.05\00:12:10.79 There was a change in the Sabbath, but it wasn't done 00:12:10.82\00:12:12.98 under Jesus authority, it wasn't done under the Apostolic 00:12:13.01\00:12:15.82 Church's authority, of course not, 00:12:15.85\00:12:17.22 of course they wouldn't have done anything contrary to what 00:12:17.25\00:12:18.72 Jesus had done anyway. 00:12:18.75\00:12:19.72 There was a change, but that change took place in the 00:12:19.73\00:12:22.73 3rd and 4th centuries, when basically pseudo Christianity 00:12:22.76\00:12:26.67 began to accommodate paganism, and they amalgamated 00:12:26.88\00:12:29.92 into something that was hardly indistinguishable from paganism 00:12:29.95\00:12:33.09 itself, just put a nice little Christian veneer 00:12:33.12\00:12:35.52 over the top of it. 00:12:35.55\00:12:36.97 So notice this one here, from the two Babylon's 00:12:37.04\00:12:39.42 by Dr. Alexander Hislop page 105: 00:12:39.45\00:12:41.82 In other words they were going to bring together 00:12:54.27\00:12:55.87 Christian festivals, i. e. the Sabbath and the pagan festivals, 00:12:55.90\00:12:59.88 i. e. the venerable day of the sun and the pagan festivals 00:13:00.10\00:13:03.02 to bring them together: 00:13:03.05\00:13:04.66 Dr. Hislop said it was Rome's policy basically to allow these 00:13:14.62\00:13:18.62 sort of leagues to come together where this group would come 00:13:19.87\00:13:23.87 and this group would come and they would just sort of 00:13:24.10\00:13:25.40 amalgamate themselves into the existing culture, 00:13:25.43\00:13:27.99 rather than standing for Bible truth and for the truth of God. 00:13:28.02\00:13:31.62 And that was Rome's policy and they've pursued it 00:13:31.65\00:13:33.92 very effectively. 00:13:33.95\00:13:35.10 Dr. E. T. Hiscock the author of the Baptist Manuel 00:13:35.42\00:13:37.73 we've quoted this before at length, we'll just quote it 00:13:37.76\00:13:39.73 quickly here: 00:13:39.76\00:13:40.73 And he is basically letting us know here 00:13:54.52\00:13:56.88 this is the origin of Sunday. 00:13:56.91\00:13:58.98 It's called the sun-day for good reason, 00:13:59.59\00:14:02.22 and the same way that Monday is the moon-day, 00:14:02.25\00:14:04.43 and Thursday is Thor's-day, and Saturday is Saturn's-day. 00:14:04.46\00:14:07.69 Sunday was the day on which venerable day of the sun 00:14:07.72\00:14:11.43 was carried out, the worship of the sun-god. 00:14:11.46\00:14:14.37 And notice this here in Ezekiel chapter 22:26: 00:14:14.40\00:14:17.70 There was already a concern in the days of Ezekiel 00:14:44.72\00:14:47.23 that the priests had basically abandoned the distinction 00:14:47.26\00:14:50.72 between what God has made as holy, and what is not holy, 00:14:50.75\00:14:54.17 between what declares as clean and what is unclean, 00:14:54.20\00:14:57.12 and that is exactly what is happening today. 00:14:57.15\00:14:59.16 You will meet many good pastors, and don't get me wrong, 00:14:59.19\00:15:01.17 I've met Methodist pastors, and Presbyterian pastors, 00:15:01.20\00:15:04.84 and Baptist pastors, all who love the Lord very much, 00:15:04.87\00:15:07.40 I don't question their sincerity or their commitment to Him, 00:15:07.43\00:15:10.39 but when you ask these men, why go to church on Sunday, 00:15:10.42\00:15:14.40 when the bible says the Sabbath. 00:15:14.87\00:15:16.51 In time, after time, after time, meeting, after meeting, 00:15:16.54\00:15:19.55 after meeting, I hear things like well that's the day 00:15:19.58\00:15:22.53 everybody goes,it would be impossible to change it, 00:15:22.56\00:15:25.47 it would be inconvenient to change it. 00:15:25.50\00:15:27.05 And you just hear a list of excuses, and a list of 00:15:27.08\00:15:29.95 justifications and rationalizations a mile long, 00:15:29.98\00:15:32.74 and incidentaly, 00:15:32.77\00:15:33.74 if you go talk to your pastors you are going to get the 00:15:33.75\00:15:34.94 same list of justifications, 00:15:34.97\00:15:36.32 the same list of rationalizations a mile long, 00:15:36.35\00:15:38.73 but at the end of the day, it's all about convenience. 00:15:38.76\00:15:42.48 It's all about what everyone? 00:15:42.51\00:15:43.95 Convenience, and that is what it is about, 00:15:43.98\00:15:46.14 it's not about the Bible, it's not about what the Lord says, 00:15:46.17\00:15:49.16 it's not about what the Word say's, it's about what is 00:15:49.19\00:15:51.52 convenient and accommodating the culture. 00:15:51.55\00:15:54.35 Accommodating what everyone? 00:15:55.12\00:15:56.63 The culture, but if I read my Bible right 00:15:56.66\00:15:58.68 Jesus did not accommodate culture when it came to a plain 00:15:58.71\00:16:01.96 Thus saith the Lord, Jesus in fact became in many instances 00:16:01.99\00:16:05.27 anti-culture, not that Jesus was out to be obnoxious 00:16:05.30\00:16:08.48 or obstinate, but Jesus always stood on what He knew 00:16:08.51\00:16:12.22 was God's will and God's complaint here in Ezekiel 00:16:12.44\00:16:15.47 is that the priests, that is the religious spiritual leaders 00:16:15.50\00:16:18.73 were not making a distinction, not making a what everyone? 00:16:18.76\00:16:22.43 A distinction between that which is sacred, 00:16:22.46\00:16:25.48 and that which is not, between that which is clean, 00:16:27.11\00:16:29.00 and that which is not. 00:16:29.03\00:16:30.00 If somebody says to you, all days are the same, 00:16:30.01\00:16:32.78 it doesn't matter, it is not a big deal, you know that 00:16:32.81\00:16:36.32 they are making a distinction between what God has said 00:16:36.35\00:16:39.76 is holy, and what is un-holy. 00:16:39.79\00:16:41.74 Does that make sense everyone? 00:16:41.77\00:16:42.90 Someone says, well every day is holy, you should worship 00:16:42.93\00:16:45.53 the Lord every day, no one is arguing with that, 00:16:45.56\00:16:47.62 you want to go to church on Monday, praise the Lord, 00:16:47.65\00:16:49.34 you want to go to church on Tuesday, praise the Lord, 00:16:49.37\00:16:51.00 Wednesday, praise the Lord, Thursday, no problem 00:16:51.03\00:16:53.06 with any of that, but let's be crystal clear about something 00:16:53.09\00:16:55.44 it was God, not a church, it was God not Pastor Asscherick, 00:16:55.47\00:16:59.45 it was God not a man, that originally set the 00:16:59.97\00:17:03.28 Sabbath aside, can you say Amen to that? 00:17:03.93\00:17:05.71 David didn't invent that, David didn't say you know, 00:17:05.74\00:17:09.12 let's have fun, let's say that one day is more important 00:17:09.15\00:17:11.70 than the another. 00:17:11.73\00:17:12.70 God was the one who said that not me, and apparently 00:17:12.71\00:17:15.39 it was important enough to God, and morally significant 00:17:15.42\00:17:17.63 enough to God, to write it with His own finger 00:17:17.66\00:17:19.87 on tables of stone, and take those tablets and place them 00:17:19.90\00:17:22.65 in the ark, which is the very sign and symbol of the 00:17:22.68\00:17:25.10 throne of God. 00:17:25.13\00:17:26.10 So here is my rationale, if it's important to God, 00:17:26.11\00:17:28.86 by definition it should be important to God's followers. 00:17:28.89\00:17:32.45 Does that make sense, and so we can say, well you know 00:17:32.48\00:17:35.71 I don't know, to me it just doesn't seem important. 00:17:35.74\00:17:37.66 Beloved, who care if it seems important to you, 00:17:37.69\00:17:41.01 since when do Christians do things that "seem" "important" 00:17:41.05\00:17:44.37 and decide that we're "not" going to do things that "don't" 00:17:44.40\00:17:46.54 "seem" important, I was just visiting with my friend Angela 00:17:46.57\00:17:48.65 the other day, and Angela like me, loves to go knocking 00:17:48.68\00:17:51.24 on doors, and telling people about the love of Jesus, Amen! 00:17:51.27\00:17:53.64 And some people say, well you know that's not really for me, 00:17:53.67\00:17:56.31 that doesn't seem like something that's important, 00:17:56.34\00:17:58.53 that doesn't seem like something that I would want to do. 00:17:58.56\00:18:00.71 Beloved it is not what you think seems right, it's not what 00:18:00.74\00:18:03.88 you think seem ok, or seems justified, it's what God says. 00:18:03.91\00:18:07.89 Amen! 00:18:08.25\00:18:09.22 I mean beloved in the final analysis for me and my purposes 00:18:09.50\00:18:12.98 and I hope for you and your purposes, if it's in the Bible 00:18:13.01\00:18:15.31 I believe it, God said it, I believe it, that settles it. 00:18:15.34\00:18:18.57 So far so good everyone? 00:18:18.60\00:18:20.32 Pretty simple, and so God was concerned about religious 00:18:21.06\00:18:23.62 leaders, and said well it's really not important, 00:18:23.65\00:18:25.98 well, it's really not a big deal. 00:18:26.01\00:18:27.97 They made no distinction, they made no difference between 00:18:28.00\00:18:30.54 the sacred and the profane. 00:18:30.57\00:18:32.33 Jesus put it this way in Mark 7:7, and by the way, 00:18:32.36\00:18:35.52 no preacher would have been a grace filled preacher 00:18:35.55\00:18:38.29 a more spirit filled preacher than Jesus, and yet Jesus said: 00:18:38.32\00:18:42.30 And that's exactly what's happening today. 00:18:47.49\00:18:49.26 Doctrines are being taught but they are the commandments 00:18:49.29\00:18:52.02 of men, rather than the commandments of God. 00:18:52.05\00:18:54.32 So let's go to end time Babylon here and let's see if we can 00:18:54.35\00:18:57.99 identify exactly who this is right there on your study guide 00:18:58.02\00:19:00.85 and we're going to go to Revelation 17. 00:19:00.88\00:19:02.73 Revelation 17, and so we've looked at these four critical 00:19:02.76\00:19:06.74 areas that Babylon basically exemplifies, 00:19:07.22\00:19:09.95 1. It is a man-made system of religion, 00:19:09.98\00:19:12.49 this is all in your study guide. 00:19:12.52\00:19:13.83 2. It is the center of image worship. 00:19:13.86\00:19:16.57 3. It is the center of false teachings about death. 00:19:16.71\00:19:19.66 4. Babylon was the center of sun worship. 00:19:19.69\00:19:22.64 All of those things are incorporated into this Biblical 00:19:23.13\00:19:26.71 term of Babylon and so when we go to Revelation 17 00:19:26.74\00:19:29.88 and we find here in verse 5, that she is called mystery 00:19:29.91\00:19:32.80 Babylon the Great the mother of harlots and of the 00:19:32.83\00:19:35.33 abominations of the earth, 00:19:35.36\00:19:36.35 we have to go back and Biblically see what that means. 00:19:36.38\00:19:39.60 What does it mean Biblically Babylon? 00:19:39.63\00:19:41.87 It is a system that is confusing, 00:19:41.90\00:19:43.72 it is a system of man-made religion, 00:19:43.75\00:19:45.69 it's a system of image worship, it's a system of sun worship, 00:19:45.72\00:19:48.97 it's a system of false teachings about death, 00:19:49.00\00:19:51.21 and this woman here, this false church is branded with 00:19:51.24\00:19:54.97 this emblazon placard across her forehead, 00:19:55.00\00:19:57.91 "Mystery Babylon the Great" the mother of harlots 00:19:58.42\00:20:01.87 and of the abominations of the earth. 00:20:02.17\00:20:04.05 Now let's see if we can identify exactly who this is. 00:20:04.08\00:20:06.31 First of all, number one she's a church, 00:20:06.34\00:20:09.24 how do we know that, because in chapter one it 00:20:09.27\00:20:11.03 says: Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bulls 00:20:11.06\00:20:13.14 came and talked with me saying: 00:20:13.17\00:20:14.18 "Come and I will show you the judgment of the great harlot 00:20:14.21\00:20:17.54 who sits on many waters. " 00:20:17.57\00:20:18.83 The great what everyone? 00:20:18.86\00:20:20.49 Harlot, that is the great woman and as we have already discussed 00:20:20.52\00:20:23.30 a woman in Bible Prophecy represents what? 00:20:23.33\00:20:26.13 A church or God's true people, and so if you have a chased 00:20:26.16\00:20:28.96 woman like in Revelation 12, that would be God's true people, 00:20:28.99\00:20:31.70 and if you have an unfaithful woman like in Revelation 00:20:31.73\00:20:33.45 chapter 17, that would be an unfaithful church. 00:20:33.48\00:20:35.53 Does that make sense everyone, yes or no, very, very clear. 00:20:35.56\00:20:38.47 So she is a church, she sits on an area of many, many, nations 00:20:38.50\00:20:41.82 look at chapter 17:2, with whom the kings of the earth 00:20:41.85\00:20:45.37 have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth 00:20:45.40\00:20:47.36 were made drunk with the wine of her fornication. 00:20:47.39\00:20:50.87 Notice that she sits on many waters, last part of verse one, 00:20:51.51\00:20:54.22 and so you jump down to verse 15 of the same chapter. 00:20:54.25\00:20:57.16 Verse 15 of the same chapter, Then he the angel said to me, 00:20:57.19\00:20:59.96 The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, 00:20:59.99\00:21:02.26 are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. 00:21:02.29\00:21:05.25 and so she is depicted as sitting on water, 00:21:05.28\00:21:06.77 we've already seen that water and Bible Prophecy 00:21:06.80\00:21:08.56 represent a populous area, and so she sits on an area 00:21:08.59\00:21:12.09 of many nations. 00:21:12.12\00:21:13.26 3. She is a city, jump down to the last verse of that 00:21:13.78\00:21:17.72 chapter, Revelation 13:18, And the woman whom you saw 00:21:18.30\00:21:22.09 is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth. 00:21:23.16\00:21:27.16 and so whoever this is, it's a city as well. 00:21:28.00\00:21:30.95 So it's a church that sits on an area of many nations 00:21:30.98\00:21:33.12 that's a city we've already seen, that rules over kings 00:21:33.15\00:21:36.13 that is to say is in illicit fornication like relationships 00:21:36.16\00:21:40.14 with the kings of the earth the secular governing authorities. 00:21:41.16\00:21:43.84 Also this is a city of seven hills. 00:21:43.87\00:21:46.46 A city of what everyone? 00:21:47.06\00:21:48.60 Seven hills, look at verse 9, Here is the mind which has 00:21:48.63\00:21:51.88 wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which 00:21:51.91\00:21:55.57 the woman sits. 00:21:56.47\00:21:57.44 And so it's a city that sets on seven hills or seven mountains. 00:21:57.45\00:22:01.04 6. Their official colors are purple and what? 00:22:01.07\00:22:04.26 Scarlet, we saw that there in verse 3, 00:22:04.66\00:22:06.86 a woman sitting on a scarlet beast, verse 4, 00:22:06.89\00:22:09.46 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, 00:22:09.49\00:22:11.67 and adorned with gold and precious stones 00:22:11.70\00:22:13.54 and as we've already discussed there were four colors 00:22:13.57\00:22:17.34 do you remember those four colors: Purple, scarlet, blue, 00:22:18.25\00:22:22.23 and gold, let's say that together: Purple, scarlet, 00:22:22.92\00:22:26.54 blue, and gold, ok. 00:22:27.03\00:22:28.42 But this woman is missing one of those colors, 00:22:29.43\00:22:31.34 which color is she missing? 00:22:31.37\00:22:32.45 Blue, what did blue represent? 00:22:32.48\00:22:34.56 Ten Commandments, in fact let me show you something 00:22:34.73\00:22:37.25 quite fascinating it's right there in your study guide, 00:22:37.28\00:22:39.18 go to Numbers 15, but keep your finger here in Revelation 00:22:39.21\00:22:42.29 17, go to Numbers 15, but keep your finger here. 00:22:42.32\00:22:44.84 Numbers 15 fourth book of the Old Testament, Numbers 15, 00:22:44.87\00:22:48.82 and I think you will find this language very interesting, 00:22:49.17\00:22:51.73 Numbers 15: beginning in verse 37, Numbers 15, 00:22:51.76\00:22:55.01 beginning in verse 37, I want everybody to get there, 00:22:56.12\00:22:59.91 tell me if you find this language striking, yes or no? 00:23:00.37\00:23:04.27 Numbers 15:37 Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 00:23:04.65\00:23:08.38 Speak to the children of Israel: 00:23:08.87\00:23:10.42 Tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments 00:23:10.45\00:23:12.69 throughout their generations, and to put a blue thread 00:23:12.72\00:23:16.50 in the tassels of the corners. And you shall have the tassel, 00:23:16.74\00:23:19.30 that you may look upon it and remember all the commandments 00:23:19.33\00:23:22.84 of the LORD and do them, and that you may not follow 00:23:22.87\00:23:26.68 the harlotry to which your own heart and your own eyes 00:23:27.03\00:23:30.93 are inclined, and that you may remember and do all 00:23:34.06\00:23:36.56 My commandments, of the Lord your God, for I am holy, 00:23:36.59\00:23:40.41 I am the Lord. 00:23:40.45\00:23:41.48 Isn't that absolutely fascinating, notice what it says 00:23:41.51\00:23:45.00 put blue on your garments to remember what everyone? 00:23:45.03\00:23:47.61 The Commandments so that you won't go after harlotry 00:23:47.64\00:23:51.35 and what do we find in Revelation 17? 00:23:52.37\00:23:54.40 We find a harlot woman, who is wearing who is wearing 00:23:54.43\00:23:56.33 all of colors of the high priest, she's got the purple, 00:23:56.36\00:23:59.30 she's got the scarlet, she's got the gold, but what color 00:23:59.33\00:24:00.30 is she missing? 00:24:00.33\00:24:01.41 The blue, she's pretending to be if you prefer, 00:24:02.59\00:24:06.02 she's pretending to be God's high priest. 00:24:06.52\00:24:09.54 God's church on earth, but she has forgotten 00:24:09.67\00:24:12.87 God's commandments, if that makes sense say Amen! 00:24:13.02\00:24:16.52 Absolutely fascinating, so we go here, she is wearing 00:24:16.89\00:24:20.16 purple and scarlet, she's obviously wealthy, 00:24:20.19\00:24:22.30 that's inferred from the text you can also read 00:24:22.33\00:24:24.06 in chapter 18:3, let's go back to Revelation 00:24:24.09\00:24:25.83 as a matter of fact. 00:24:25.86\00:24:26.83 I should have kept a pen or a ribbon or a finger of something 00:24:26.84\00:24:30.22 there so we could just flip back quickly. 00:24:30.25\00:24:31.62 It says in chapter 18:3 that she is a rich church 00:24:31.65\00:24:35.28 we jump down now to number 8, she is a persecuting church 00:24:35.31\00:24:38.01 it says right there in the passage, 00:24:38.04\00:24:39.20 we're looking at verse 6, I saw the woman who was drunk 00:24:39.23\00:24:42.55 with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the 00:24:42.58\00:24:44.16 martyrs of Jesus, and also she is blasphemous, so she has 00:24:44.19\00:24:48.02 emblazon right across her forehead, 00:24:48.05\00:24:49.75 Mystery Babylon the Great, the mother of harlots. 00:24:49.78\00:24:53.21 So she clearly is a blasphemous power, and so when we put all 00:24:53.63\00:24:57.63 all of these together, when we put together a church 00:24:58.94\00:25:01.71 that sits on an area of many nations, 00:25:01.74\00:25:03.54 that is a city that rules over kings, 00:25:03.57\00:25:05.84 that has seven mountains or seven hills, by the way, 00:25:05.87\00:25:08.66 what city is the city of seven mountains? 00:25:08.69\00:25:10.40 It's the city of Rome, that's exactly right, I looked it up 00:25:10.43\00:25:12.67 just today and incidentally in Wikipedia, just type that in 00:25:12.70\00:25:14.80 city of seven mountains, [voom] takes you right to Rome 00:25:14.83\00:25:17.84 it names all of the seven mountains, and then it takes you 00:25:17.87\00:25:19.98 right to this very verse in Revelation 17, and it says 00:25:20.01\00:25:23.11 that this is a widely held reference in Protestantism 00:25:23.14\00:25:26.86 to Rome. 00:25:26.90\00:25:27.87 Right there, listen beloved, you can go right to Wikipedia 00:25:28.06\00:25:31.51 now that does not mean that you can trust everything 00:25:31.54\00:25:33.13 you can find on the internet, someone say Amen. 00:25:33.16\00:25:34.86 I mean the internet is a sewer, there's good and there's bad 00:25:34.89\00:25:38.18 on there, and the problem is that any whacko can get 00:25:38.21\00:25:40.44 a website, and he can start saying thus and so, thus and so. 00:25:40.47\00:25:43.27 So don't trust everything you read on the internet, Amen! 00:25:43.30\00:25:46.33 But you can trust everything you read in the Bible, Amen! 00:25:46.36\00:25:48.98 By the way some people say oh you know I looked up 00:25:49.01\00:25:51.56 David Asscherick on the internet, and I found out he was 00:25:51.59\00:25:53.53 a Seventh Day Adventist, and he was a member of a cult. 00:25:53.56\00:25:56.63 Beloved just ask me what church I go to, 00:25:56.66\00:25:58.73 I'll tell you what church I go to, I have no shame in that. 00:25:58.76\00:26:00.66 I believe that God's seventh day Sabbath is an important day 00:26:00.69\00:26:03.91 how many of you believe that God's seventh day Sabbath 00:26:03.94\00:26:05.98 is an important day, ok there you go. 00:26:06.01\00:26:08.21 Your seventh day too, now I believe that Jesus Christ 00:26:08.24\00:26:11.04 is coming soon, how many of you believe that Jesus Christ 00:26:11.07\00:26:13.74 is coming soon? 00:26:13.77\00:26:14.74 Ok, then that means you are an Adventist, 00:26:14.75\00:26:16.26 because you believe in the advent of the Lord, 00:26:16.29\00:26:19.59 does that make sense, and so you are a 00:26:19.76\00:26:21.55 Seventh Day Adventist, that's what I mean when I say I'm a 00:26:21.58\00:26:23.87 Seventh Day Adventist, I'm a Seventh Day Adventist Bible 00:26:23.90\00:26:26.11 believing spirit filled Christian, 00:26:26.14\00:26:27.54 everything that comes from the Bible I want to follow it, 00:26:27.57\00:26:29.77 can you say Amen! 00:26:29.80\00:26:30.77 There's nothing mysterious, there's nothing spooky 00:26:30.78\00:26:32.83 there's nothing unusual about that title. 00:26:32.86\00:26:34.64 it means that I believe that God's seventh day Sabbath 00:26:34.67\00:26:37.17 is important because it's the commandment that begins with 00:26:37.20\00:26:39.49 the word remember, and the whole world has decided to forget. 00:26:39.52\00:26:42.68 Number one and number two I believe that Jesus is soon to 00:26:42.71\00:26:46.34 come and put an end to this dismal and dark 00:26:46.37\00:26:48.32 disease ridden world, can you say Amen to that? 00:26:48.35\00:26:50.20 So that's what I'm saying when I say I'm a Seventh Day Adventist. 00:26:50.23\00:26:52.55 I looked him up on the internet, he's a Seventh Day Adventist 00:26:52.58\00:26:54.31 let me tell you something, no shame in that, 00:26:54.34\00:26:56.21 but here is something absolutely critical, 00:26:56.24\00:26:58.34 if websites had existed in the days of Jesus, 00:26:58.37\00:27:01.41 do you know what they would have said about Jesus? 00:27:01.44\00:27:02.81 Listen, they called Him the devil to His face, 00:27:02.84\00:27:06.14 they called Him a Samaritan to His face, 00:27:07.59\00:27:10.32 they called Him a glutton and a wine bibber to His face. 00:27:10.35\00:27:13.13 You can imagine what the anonymity of the internet 00:27:13.16\00:27:15.32 would do, I mean that's the thing about the internet, 00:27:15.35\00:27:16.86 nobody can see you. 00:27:16.89\00:27:18.26 There is no accountability, Joe Schmoe starts up a web page 00:27:18.29\00:27:21.38 and says anything that he wants to say, 00:27:21.41\00:27:22.84 people get on there, they think because it's on a computer 00:27:22.87\00:27:25.01 it's credible, beloved, the internet may or may not be 00:27:25.04\00:27:28.34 credible, but the Bible is always credible. 00:27:28.37\00:27:31.01 Amen! 00:27:31.04\00:27:32.01 Amen and Amen to that! 00:27:32.02\00:27:33.37 And so who could this possibly be, who could this church 00:27:33.40\00:27:35.91 possibly be: 00:27:35.94\00:27:36.91 There is only one answer, and by the way this is not 00:27:39.54\00:27:42.19 something that Pastor Asscherick just invented, 00:27:42.22\00:27:43.88 number one it's Biblical, number two this is the historic 00:27:43.91\00:27:47.49 interpretation of Protestantism. 00:27:47.52\00:27:49.62 It is the what did I say everyone? 00:27:49.98\00:27:51.66 The historic interpretation of Protestantism, you say 00:27:51.69\00:27:55.31 Protestantism, why do you keep using that term? 00:27:55.47\00:27:57.40 It's root word is protest, Protestants protested, 00:27:57.43\00:28:00.86 what were they protesting? 00:28:01.92\00:28:02.89 The abuses of the mother church, and so today I stand before you 00:28:02.90\00:28:06.77 absolutely proud to be a Protestant, because when I 00:28:06.99\00:28:10.46 protest the abuses of the church what I'm standing for is truth, 00:28:10.49\00:28:14.30 If that makes sense say Amen. 00:28:14.33\00:28:15.68 Ok, that's not to align myself with any religious entity 00:28:15.71\00:28:19.21 heresy, I'm in and you're out and you are not part 00:28:19.24\00:28:21.23 of my club, no!, no! no! We are protesting the abuses 00:28:21.26\00:28:25.08 of the church, does that make sense everyone? 00:28:25.13\00:28:27.49 Amen! 00:28:27.52\00:28:28.49 So look at this, this is just from a regular run of the mill, 00:28:29.82\00:28:32.74 it's actually quite an excellent Bible Commentary, 00:28:32.77\00:28:34.95 Protestant Bible Commentary, Jamieson Fausset and Brown, 00:28:34.98\00:28:37.46 page 593 commenting on this very chapter: 00:28:37.49\00:28:40.39 Absolutely incredible notice this: 00:28:51.39\00:28:53.74 You are still there in Revelation 17, 00:29:07.71\00:29:09.40 look at Revelation 18, Revelation 18 beginning 00:29:09.43\00:29:12.63 in verse one, After these things I saw another angel 00:29:12.89\00:29:15.47 coming down from heaven, having great authority, 00:29:15.50\00:29:17.40 and the earth was illuminated with his glory. 00:29:17.43\00:29:18.91 And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, 00:29:18.94\00:29:20.79 Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, 00:29:20.82\00:29:23.60 whenever the Bible says something like that twice 00:29:24.49\00:29:26.08 it's for emphasis, it is not that John is stuttering 00:29:26.11\00:29:28.43 what he is saying is it's fallen, it's fallen, 00:29:28.46\00:29:31.46 it means it's absolutely positively sure 00:29:31.49\00:29:33.72 Babylon the Great is fallen, is fallen and has become 00:29:33.75\00:29:36.47 a dwelling place of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, 00:29:36.50\00:29:40.48 and a cage for every unclean and hated bird! 00:29:42.10\00:29:43.81 For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath 00:29:43.84\00:29:46.27 of her fornication, the kings of the earth have committed 00:29:46.30\00:29:48.57 fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth 00:29:48.60\00:29:51.00 that's the joining of the church and state by the way, 00:29:51.03\00:29:53.81 you can see it plain as the noon day sun there, 00:29:53.84\00:29:55.54 the merchants of the earth have become rich through the 00:29:55.57\00:29:57.74 abundance of her luxury. 4. And I heard another voice 00:29:57.77\00:30:00.81 from heaven saying, Come out of what, her, who's her? 00:30:00.84\00:30:04.66 Babylon, come out of Babylon notice the next two words? 00:30:05.82\00:30:08.99 my people, lest you share in her what, sins, and lest 00:30:09.02\00:30:12.84 you receive of her what, plagues, does God have His 00:30:13.81\00:30:16.80 people in Babylon, yes or no? 00:30:16.83\00:30:18.76 Absolutely, he un-ashamedly calls them his people, 00:30:18.79\00:30:21.54 he says come out of her my people. 00:30:21.57\00:30:24.08 That's exactly what they are saying here in the commentary 00:30:24.11\00:30:26.62 look at it again: It says for apostate Christendom. 00:30:26.65\00:30:29.15 Babylon is not to be converted but what destroyed, 00:30:29.18\00:30:32.72 notice it says the first justification of the woman 00:30:33.08\00:30:35.13 is in her being called out of what? 00:30:35.16\00:30:37.09 Babylon, they are called out of Babylon, ok, that is to say 00:30:37.12\00:30:41.10 come out because it is going to be destroyed. 00:30:42.60\00:30:45.61 In the very same way that Lot was brought out of the city 00:30:45.64\00:30:49.38 so that Sodom could be destroyed, so that Gomorrah 00:30:49.41\00:30:51.49 could be destroyed, God says to His people, 00:30:51.52\00:30:53.61 I don't want you to share in her plagues, 00:30:53.64\00:30:55.21 I don't want you to share in her sins. 00:30:55.24\00:30:56.76 Come out of Babylon so that you do not participate 00:30:56.79\00:31:00.38 in her destruction. 00:31:00.41\00:31:01.72 Now if that makes sense say Amen! 00:31:01.75\00:31:04.09 So let's go to our study guide here 00:31:04.12\00:31:05.71 and we can go all the way to the last page, 00:31:05.74\00:31:08.96 or not the last page, pardon me, the third page. 00:31:10.46\00:31:12.42 Come out of her my people, third page, Revelation 18: 1-5, 00:31:12.45\00:31:16.43 finds God calling His people out of end time Babylon. 00:31:17.29\00:31:21.08 God claims the people, but the system that teach error 00:31:22.31\00:31:26.16 and ignore the plain teachings of the Bible, 00:31:26.64\00:31:28.34 are judged and disavowed. 00:31:28.37\00:31:30.04 The importance of this point simply cannot be overstated, 00:31:30.07\00:31:33.15 like Lot of old, God calls His people out prior 00:31:33.18\00:31:36.51 to the coming destruction. 00:31:36.54\00:31:37.55 Babylon is not to be converted but what, destroyed. 00:31:37.58\00:31:41.18 Babylon is not to be converted, Babylon is to be destroyed, 00:31:42.24\00:31:46.20 God has his precious people in Babylon and He calls them out. 00:31:46.23\00:31:50.04 It is not difficult discern whether or not 00:31:50.07\00:31:52.41 one is in Babylon, one need only ask and answer 00:31:52.44\00:31:55.22 a simple question, here it is. 00:31:55.25\00:31:56.81 I wonder if he is talking about me? 00:31:56.84\00:31:58.41 I wonder if this chapter is talking about me? 00:31:58.44\00:32:00.46 I wonder if God's talking about me when He says 00:32:00.49\00:32:01.98 come out of Babylon, all you have to do is ask 00:32:02.01\00:32:02.98 and answer one question, and here it is. 00:32:03.01\00:32:05.03 Does my church, my community of faith, contain any residual 00:32:05.06\00:32:09.04 papal, pagan, or Babylonian elements or teachings. 00:32:09.97\00:32:13.43 That's all you have to do is answer that one question. 00:32:14.93\00:32:18.20 Does my church contain any residual paganism, 00:32:18.23\00:32:21.01 any residual papalism, and any residual Babylonianism? 00:32:21.04\00:32:24.09 And if the answer to that question is yes, 00:32:24.12\00:32:25.48 then you are in Babylon. 00:32:25.51\00:32:27.23 Look at it there in Revelation 17:5, 00:32:27.30\00:32:29.97 And on her forehead a name was written: 00:32:30.82\00:32:33.67 MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS 00:32:35.76\00:32:39.21 AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 00:32:39.94\00:32:41.32 And so this mother church has daughters, 00:32:41.35\00:32:44.19 this mother church has what everyone? 00:32:45.53\00:32:47.75 Daughters, and those daughters are any churches that cling 00:32:47.78\00:32:51.76 to residual papalism, or residual papalism, 00:32:52.23\00:32:55.22 that is what the Bible is calling Babylon. 00:32:55.75\00:32:58.78 Now you might be thinking whoa, Pastor Asscherick is 00:32:59.35\00:33:01.93 speaking so strongly here, no Pastor Asscherick's not 00:33:01.96\00:33:03.91 speaking strongly, the Bible is speaking strongly. 00:33:03.94\00:33:06.24 If we have, and I know we have, correctly identified Babylon, 00:33:06.27\00:33:09.49 then Babylon's daughters would be those churches that are not 00:33:09.52\00:33:13.37 identical to Babylon, but are similar. 00:33:13.40\00:33:16.07 Are what everyone? 00:33:16.24\00:33:17.52 Similar, I will give you a case and point, 00:33:17.66\00:33:19.17 and I hope that you don't feel like I am picking on you, 00:33:19.20\00:33:20.52 but I feel like I can speak with at least a little bit of 00:33:20.55\00:33:22.39 authority on this, because I was raised in the 00:33:22.42\00:33:24.17 Episcopalian Church. 00:33:24.20\00:33:25.25 My father was a Catholic who in his own way, wanted to be 00:33:25.28\00:33:29.26 a religious person, he wanted to be a spiritual person, 00:33:32.08\00:33:33.91 and he was married, and he went all the way through 00:33:33.94\00:33:36.06 Catholic schools, and all the way through into Catholicism 00:33:36.09\00:33:40.07 into the church, he was married in the church, but then he 00:33:40.45\00:33:41.94 got divorced, and the church would not recognize his divorce, 00:33:41.97\00:33:44.59 and so when he re-married my mother, 00:33:44.62\00:33:46.99 when he was re-married, he married my mother, 00:33:47.02\00:33:49.37 my mother was kind of a Baptist, 00:33:49.40\00:33:51.07 sort of a Protestant or something. 00:33:51.10\00:33:52.74 The problem was that the church would not recognize 00:33:52.77\00:33:54.98 his divorce, they said we don't recognize your divorce, 00:33:55.01\00:33:57.18 as far as we're concerned, you are still married to your first 00:33:57.21\00:33:58.68 wife, my Dad's like, listen, you got another thing coming, 00:33:58.71\00:34:02.69 I'm not only not married to her, she's re-married, and 00:34:02.85\00:34:04.71 I'm getting ready to get re-married, the church says 00:34:04.74\00:34:06.37 we don't recognize it. 00:34:06.40\00:34:07.37 So what happened is my father was no longer a Catholic 00:34:07.40\00:34:10.66 because he couldn't be, ok. 00:34:10.69\00:34:12.64 So he re-marries, he marries my mother, and my mother was 00:34:12.96\00:34:16.18 kind of a nominal Protestant and they said well what are we 00:34:16.21\00:34:18.04 going to do, I mean we can't be Catholics, 00:34:18.07\00:34:19.51 because they kicked you out the door, 00:34:19.54\00:34:20.82 we can't really be Protestants because you don't know anything 00:34:20.85\00:34:22.76 about Protestantism, so they became Episcopalians, 00:34:22.79\00:34:26.18 and I don't know if you know anything about Episcopalians 00:34:26.67\00:34:28.59 but Episcopalians are as close as you can get to Rome 00:34:28.62\00:34:31.58 without the Pope. 00:34:31.61\00:34:32.63 That's basically what an Episcopalian is, 00:34:32.66\00:34:35.56 it's Catholicism without the Pope, now if you go to an 00:34:36.08\00:34:38.97 Episcopalian church and you go to a Catholic church 00:34:39.00\00:34:41.18 the similarities are phenomenal, I mean just absolutely totally 00:34:41.21\00:34:45.19 phenomenal, why, because what happened is, is that 00:34:45.34\00:34:48.85 the Episcopalian Church, basically a man by the name of 00:34:48.88\00:34:50.92 King Henry, Henry the eighth wanted to have another wife 00:34:50.95\00:34:53.35 and the Bishop of Rome said no, and he said well I'll 00:34:53.38\00:34:54.35 start my own church, and he started the Anglican Church, 00:34:54.38\00:34:56.72 that's the short version, right. 00:34:56.75\00:34:58.41 So basically what happened was he came a little bit out of Rome 00:34:58.44\00:35:01.43 but not very far out of Rome. 00:35:01.46\00:35:03.12 Does that make sense, and so he's pretty close 00:35:03.15\00:35:06.09 and then another denomination came out a little further, 00:35:06.12\00:35:08.48 and then a little further, and a little further, 00:35:08.51\00:35:10.21 and all of these various denominations that we have 00:35:10.24\00:35:12.66 today are just in different degrees of coming out of Rome. 00:35:12.69\00:35:16.29 Does that make sense everyone? 00:35:16.32\00:35:18.30 And so the question is whether or not you are in Babylon, 00:35:18.33\00:35:20.43 it's actually very, very simple. 00:35:20.46\00:35:21.60 If you have any residual paganism, or papalism, 00:35:21.63\00:35:24.28 or Babylonianism that is part or partial teaching of your 00:35:24.31\00:35:28.29 church, as opposed to the teaching of God's word, 00:35:28.32\00:35:31.86 then God would say come out of Babylon and let Babylon 00:35:32.15\00:35:35.45 come out of you, can you say Amen? 00:35:35.48\00:35:38.01 Now that can be a little hard for us to hear, 00:35:38.09\00:35:39.73 but beloved that's what God says, that's not what 00:35:39.76\00:35:41.72 Pastor Asscherick says, that's what God says. 00:35:41.75\00:35:43.50 So let's continue on here in our study guide. 00:35:43.53\00:35:46.12 Babylon is not to be converted but destroyed, 00:35:46.15\00:35:49.13 it is not difficult to discern whether one is in Babylon 00:35:49.16\00:35:51.45 one need only ask and answer the simple question 00:35:51.48\00:35:54.14 does my church, my community of faith contain any residual 00:35:54.17\00:35:57.23 papal, pagan, or Babylonian elements and teachings. 00:35:57.26\00:36:00.76 Out of Babylon into what, let's go back to the screen here: 00:36:01.90\00:36:05.90 That's exactly what Jamieson Fausset and Brown said 00:36:16.17\00:36:18.29 again, that's well know, a very, very, very well know, 00:36:18.32\00:36:22.20 Protestant Commentary. 00:36:22.44\00:36:23.79 Now this raises the important question, is it clear to you 00:36:23.82\00:36:26.80 that God is calling His people out of Babylon, yes or no? 00:36:26.83\00:36:29.90 By the way don't even think of being offended, 00:36:29.93\00:36:33.24 don't even try to be offended, because God is the one that says 00:36:33.27\00:36:37.03 come out of her my people. 00:36:37.06\00:36:38.95 You do not have to be offended if you want to have God's 00:36:39.66\00:36:42.04 true people who in ignorance has been in a system 00:36:42.07\00:36:45.13 of Babylonianism, because now you've learned it, 00:36:45.16\00:36:48.46 Now you've what everyone? 00:36:48.49\00:36:49.68 You've learned it, and God calls you His people 00:36:49.71\00:36:52.94 no shame in that Amen. 00:36:52.97\00:36:54.57 I mean beloved when I decided that I was going to follow the 00:36:54.91\00:36:58.23 Word, when I decided that the Lord Jesus Christ 00:36:58.26\00:36:59.97 was going to be my Savior, and I was going to stand on 00:37:00.00\00:37:01.42 the Bible and the Bible only, I had to take a step out of my 00:37:01.45\00:37:05.11 parents church, because I saw that it wasn't Biblical. 00:37:05.14\00:37:07.45 Now again, that's not to make fun of anybody today who happens 00:37:07.48\00:37:10.12 to be and Episcopalian or ect., ect., you want to be an 00:37:10.15\00:37:12.27 Episcopalian that's your business, but what I am saying 00:37:12.30\00:37:14.20 is this, if you want to stand on the Bible, 00:37:14.23\00:37:16.72 you are going to have to take a step out of any church 00:37:16.75\00:37:19.54 that doesn't stand on the Bible, does that make sense yes or no? 00:37:19.57\00:37:22.22 I mean how could you sit in church and listen to people 00:37:22.25\00:37:24.09 preaching things that you know are not Biblical, 00:37:24.12\00:37:25.89 how can you give your money and your offering and 00:37:25.92\00:37:27.96 your influence and your energies to a church that is 00:37:27.99\00:37:30.43 teaching things that you know is not Biblical, 00:37:30.46\00:37:32.17 and so it was not like, oh I'm going to leave the church 00:37:32.20\00:37:34.68 because I'm mad at the church, I don't like the Episcopalians 00:37:34.71\00:37:36.88 anymore, they were dear people, 00:37:36.91\00:37:38.93 I love those people, no question, 00:37:38.96\00:37:39.95 but when I saw the church come into conflict with God's law 00:37:39.98\00:37:43.32 I decided to stand on the Bible instead of the church's 00:37:43.35\00:37:47.33 canon's and traditions, does that make sense everyone? 00:37:47.77\00:37:50.56 So don't get offended, and think Oh, I can't believe those things 00:37:50.59\00:37:53.55 he said about Episcopalians, or about Methodist or about 00:37:53.58\00:37:55.76 whatever, beloved, it's not about being offended 00:37:55.79\00:37:58.58 it's about being faithful to God. 00:37:58.61\00:38:00.45 Does that make sense everyone? 00:38:00.48\00:38:02.56 Ok, great, Praise the Lord we're making some great headway 00:38:02.63\00:38:05.42 so God says come out of Babylon and so we all step out 00:38:05.45\00:38:09.43 in faith, but the question is, we step out of Babylon 00:38:09.64\00:38:12.92 in to what? 00:38:12.95\00:38:13.92 See, God not only calls people out, He calls people in, 00:38:14.97\00:38:18.93 does that make sense? 00:38:19.05\00:38:20.56 He calls us out of something, into what? 00:38:21.06\00:38:23.77 Into obscurity, into chaos, into nothingness, 00:38:23.80\00:38:26.89 no!, no!, no!, He calls us out of Babylon in to His 00:38:27.02\00:38:30.79 remnant church, in fact look there in Revelation 12, 00:38:30.86\00:38:34.45 Revelation 12, and notice with me verse 17, Revelation 12:17, 00:38:34.48\00:38:38.46 It says speaking of the remnant church Revelation 12:17, 00:38:40.69\00:38:44.66 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make 00:38:47.93\00:38:51.03 war with war with the what, your Bible says remnant, 00:38:51.06\00:38:54.33 mine says the rest of her offspring, 00:38:54.36\00:38:55.94 who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony 00:38:55.97\00:38:58.95 of Jesus Christ. 00:38:58.98\00:39:00.02 So God here has a remnant, a what everyone? 00:39:00.05\00:39:03.17 A remnant, now this is straight out of Old Testament. 00:39:04.47\00:39:06.97 This is classic Old Testament theology, that you would find 00:39:07.00\00:39:10.88 text like this, all of Israel would go into captivity 00:39:10.91\00:39:13.67 but a remnant would be preserved. 00:39:13.70\00:39:15.32 All of Israel would go into Apostasy, but a remnant 00:39:15.35\00:39:17.99 would be preserved, so this idea of remnant theology 00:39:18.02\00:39:20.74 is not just something that was invented by John and the 00:39:20.77\00:39:22.94 Apocalypse, it is something that is all the way through. 00:39:22.97\00:39:25.30 Noah was a remnant, think of it that way, 00:39:25.33\00:39:28.03 the whole earth had gone into absolute Apostasy 00:39:28.06\00:39:30.81 and violence against God, but God saved a remnant 00:39:30.84\00:39:33.50 you find that again and again. 00:39:33.53\00:39:35.15 Daniel had gone into Babylonian captivity for seven years, 00:39:35.18\00:39:38.19 but God called a remnant out of that, 00:39:38.22\00:39:40.19 God is in the habit of calling remnants of people 00:39:40.22\00:39:43.75 because unfortunately Satan the arch enemy, 00:39:44.21\00:39:47.20 he deceives people into going the wrong way 00:39:48.01\00:39:50.26 and then God is able to get his hands wrapped around a few 00:39:50.29\00:39:53.01 and He calls them out, He calls them what? 00:39:53.04\00:39:55.59 Out! Now some people are going to say well listen I'm not 00:39:55.62\00:39:59.10 getting called out of anything, I am going to stay with 00:39:59.13\00:40:01.27 my church, and I'm going to do my own thing. 00:40:01.30\00:40:03.14 Beloved, beloved, you do whatever you want, 00:40:03.17\00:40:05.55 but the point is this, don't think that when it comes to 00:40:05.58\00:40:08.57 salvation, there is safety in numbers. 00:40:08.60\00:40:11.27 Amen, don't even think that for a moment, 00:40:12.26\00:40:15.28 don't think will listen I'm going to a church and there's 00:40:15.93\00:40:17.42 ten thousand members in my church, and there's good people 00:40:17.45\00:40:19.37 in my church and so surely because there are other 00:40:19.40\00:40:21.90 people in this church that are going to be saved, 00:40:21.93\00:40:23.16 that I can stay here and be safe, listen, 00:40:23.19\00:40:25.07 God didn't bring all those other people to this series 00:40:25.10\00:40:27.33 of meetings, God brought you to this series of meetings, 00:40:27.36\00:40:29.22 does that make sense? 00:40:29.25\00:40:30.74 So God reveals at certain times truth to certain people 00:40:31.04\00:40:34.95 because He can trust you with it. 00:40:35.42\00:40:37.11 Fortunately you don't have to answer for anybody else 00:40:37.14\00:40:39.94 in your church, can you say Amen? 00:40:39.97\00:40:41.37 You only got to answer for one, and that's you, 00:40:41.40\00:40:43.99 and the fact that other people may have gotten invitations 00:40:44.02\00:40:47.64 or the spirit of God might be working on other peoples 00:40:47.67\00:40:49.25 hearts, and they may be responding at different times 00:40:49.28\00:40:51.75 or some of them obstinately might not responding 00:40:51.78\00:40:53.88 that has nothing to do with you. 00:40:53.91\00:40:55.92 Don't think for a moment, well there's all kinds of 00:40:55.95\00:40:57.54 faithful people in my church and surely some of them are 00:40:57.57\00:41:00.18 going to be saved, and so I'll stay here and I'll be just fine. 00:41:00.21\00:41:02.45 God is saving people individually, 00:41:02.48\00:41:04.86 does that make sense everyone? 00:41:05.94\00:41:07.44 And God wants to save you individually, 00:41:07.47\00:41:09.46 there's no question, and so God reveals things to you 00:41:09.49\00:41:11.58 at a time when He thinks you can handle it. 00:41:11.61\00:41:14.59 God wants to trust you with His truth. 00:41:14.62\00:41:17.05 Can you say Amen? 00:41:17.08\00:41:18.06 Amen! Absolutely, very simple here, 00:41:18.09\00:41:19.83 and so what we see here is that God does have a true church 00:41:19.86\00:41:23.26 called the remnant, now notice in Revelation 12:17 00:41:23.29\00:41:26.60 it says the remnant have at least two characteristics: 00:41:26.63\00:41:28.76 They have the testimony of Jesus, and they keep 00:41:28.79\00:41:31.28 the commandments of God. 00:41:31.31\00:41:32.37 Now I told you several, I suppose it's been half way back 00:41:32.40\00:41:36.38 through the seminar, that my grandmother used to take 00:41:36.80\00:41:38.91 me to the most boring place on earth, who remembers 00:41:38.94\00:41:41.05 where that was, fabric store, that's exactly right, 00:41:41.08\00:41:43.85 and not only would she buy those absolutely boring 00:41:43.88\00:41:47.42 innocuous little white envelopes, 00:41:47.88\00:41:49.50 sometimes she would go to 00:41:49.53\00:41:50.84 the remnant box, she'd go to the what? 00:41:50.87\00:41:53.69 Remnant box, where there would be remnants of cloth 00:41:53.95\00:41:57.23 is that right, let's say for example she wanted to match 00:41:57.26\00:42:01.24 this suit here, if she was going to find a remnant to match 00:42:01.47\00:42:04.10 this suit here, she would go to the various bolts of cloth 00:42:04.13\00:42:06.08 and they would say, you know we don't have that, 00:42:06.11\00:42:07.25 but you can check the remnant pile. 00:42:07.28\00:42:08.50 So she would go through and start looking through 00:42:08.53\00:42:10.18 the remnants, and if she found one that truly matched this, 00:42:10.21\00:42:13.79 it would have to be the same texture, it would have to be 00:42:13.82\00:42:16.47 the same color, it would have to be the same pattern, 00:42:16.50\00:42:18.61 it would have to be the same weight, in order to 00:42:18.64\00:42:20.59 truly be the remnant of this fabric, 00:42:20.62\00:42:22.16 does that make sense everyone, yes or no? 00:42:22.19\00:42:23.76 So the remnant, God's last day church, has to look 00:42:23.79\00:42:26.74 like God's first day church. 00:42:26.77\00:42:28.41 Does that make sense, it can't look radically different, 00:42:28.44\00:42:31.08 it has to match, if it's the remnant it has to match, 00:42:31.11\00:42:33.71 so we can't look for something new, we can't look for something 00:42:33.74\00:42:36.52 totally radical and different, we have to look for something 00:42:36.55\00:42:38.95 that's basically the same as the Apostolic church. 00:42:38.98\00:42:41.78 Amen! God is going to bring His people back to 00:42:41.81\00:42:44.50 Apostolic Christianity, it reminds of a marvelous 00:42:44.53\00:42:46.60 state when I heard Billy Graham say one time, 00:42:46.63\00:42:48.10 and I tell you, my heart really goes out to Billy Graham 00:42:48.13\00:42:50.30 because I think in some ways he's abandoning the faith. 00:42:50.33\00:42:53.41 I don't know if you saw this most recent..., 00:42:53.44\00:42:54.83 and I'm not judging the man at all, but if you have seen 00:42:54.86\00:42:57.49 this Newsweek that he was on the cover of 00:42:57.52\00:43:00.02 a little while back, you know they interview him and 00:43:00.05\00:43:02.13 he's like well, I'm not so sure everything in the Bible is true 00:43:02.16\00:43:04.54 and I was just reading, and I am thinking who am I reading? 00:43:04.57\00:43:07.37 Who could I possibly be reading, but let the Lord Jesus 00:43:07.40\00:43:10.77 sort that out, I'll tell you this, there's no question 00:43:10.80\00:43:14.09 that God did use that man to reach many people, 00:43:14.12\00:43:16.53 thousands of people, millions of people, for the Lord. 00:43:16.56\00:43:19.06 Can you say Amen! 00:43:19.09\00:43:20.06 On one occasion he was preaching a marvelous revival in 00:43:20.07\00:43:22.77 New York City, and he preached his guts out, 00:43:22.80\00:43:25.57 and just threw down, he could be a wild preacher 00:43:25.60\00:43:28.88 in his earlier years, and he just preached, and preached, 00:43:28.91\00:43:30.78 and preached, and he made an alter call, 00:43:30.81\00:43:31.78 and people came forward, and they were repenting, 00:43:31.79\00:43:33.87 and weeping at the alter, and it was absolutely powerful. 00:43:33.90\00:43:36.26 Afterwards several of the organizers of the event 00:43:36.29\00:43:38.27 went up to Mr. Graham, they said Mr. Graham we're very 00:43:38.30\00:43:39.74 concerned about tonight's presentation, 00:43:39.77\00:43:41.17 oh, you didn't think it was a good presentation, 00:43:41.20\00:43:43.09 well, we're concerned, we feel like you've set the church back 00:43:43.12\00:43:46.06 two hundred years today, you're going back to the dark ages, 00:43:46.09\00:43:49.00 you're going back to the way things used to be done. 00:43:49.03\00:43:50.73 We want to be a part of the new church, 00:43:50.76\00:43:52.78 part of the emerging church, part of this new exciting 00:43:52.81\00:43:55.24 movement that God is doing in Christianity, 00:43:55.27\00:43:56.91 we feel like you set the church back two hundred years. 00:43:56.94\00:43:59.11 Pastor Graham kind of hung his head, he said I'm real sorry 00:43:59.14\00:44:02.93 about that I guess I really did fail, and they were kind of 00:44:02.96\00:44:05.00 triumphing over it a little bit, we really feel like you 00:44:05.03\00:44:07.39 let us down, and he said gentlemen I apologize. 00:44:07.42\00:44:09.56 Tonight if you feel like I set the church back 00:44:09.59\00:44:12.18 two hundred years, I did fail, I absolutely failed, 00:44:12.21\00:44:14.95 because I was trying to set the church back two thousand years. 00:44:14.98\00:44:18.51 Are you with me everyone? 00:44:18.54\00:44:20.32 Do you follow where we are going with that? 00:44:24.00\00:44:25.82 Beloved the remnant is going to look like 00:44:25.85\00:44:28.80 Apostolic Christianity 00:44:29.50\00:44:30.97 it's got to match, does that make sense everyone? 00:44:31.00\00:44:32.00 So let's go to our board here, it's actually pretty simple 00:44:32.03\00:44:36.01 I Timothy 3:15, The apostle Paul 00:44:40.04\00:44:42.05 writing to young Timothy, he says: 00:44:42.08\00:44:44.51 Beloved the church is to be built on truth, and Jesus Christ 00:44:54.38\00:44:58.04 is the truth, can you say Amen! 00:44:58.07\00:44:59.77 Think about that for just a moment, Jesus Christ 00:44:59.80\00:45:02.66 is the truth, He Himself said in John 14:6, 00:45:02.69\00:45:04.99 I am the way, the truth, and the life. John 17:17, 00:45:05.02\00:45:08.71 Jesus said, Sanctify them through thy word, 00:45:10.05\00:45:12.75 thy word is truth. Psalm 119 says, 00:45:12.78\00:45:15.26 Thy law is truth, so you have this three fold definition of 00:45:17.32\00:45:20.87 truth, Jesus Christ is truth, His word is truth, 00:45:20.90\00:45:24.28 His law is truth, and the church is the pillar 00:45:24.31\00:45:27.25 and ground of truth. 00:45:27.28\00:45:28.71 That's why I've said many times in the seminar 00:45:29.02\00:45:30.46 and I'll stand by it until the day that I die 00:45:30.49\00:45:32.21 we don't find a church that suits us and then hope, 00:45:32.24\00:45:35.40 cross our fingers and pray that they preach the truth. 00:45:35.43\00:45:38.41 What we do is we find the truth, then we go find a church 00:45:38.44\00:45:41.08 that's preaches what's truth, can you say Amen! 00:45:41.11\00:45:43.06 So too with your pastor's, and I know many of you have 00:45:43.09\00:45:45.36 spiritual leaders that you respect, ect., ect., 00:45:45.39\00:45:47.38 but beloved, beloved, beloved, don't check the truth out with 00:45:47.41\00:45:50.73 your pastor, check your pastor out with Bible truth. 00:45:50.76\00:45:53.80 Can you say Amen! 00:45:53.83\00:45:54.80 Because listen I want to tell you something, 00:45:54.81\00:45:56.64 if I were to take my shirt off which I won't do, 00:45:56.67\00:45:58.82 because I don't want to be indelicate, 00:45:58.85\00:45:59.94 but if I were to take my shirt off right now, 00:45:59.97\00:46:01.60 there is no Superman tattoo on my chest, there's no 00:46:01.63\00:46:04.25 Super pastor, Super saint outfit under here, 00:46:04.28\00:46:06.77 I'm a sinner just like you, can you say Amen! 00:46:06.80\00:46:09.18 And I can be wrong, just like you can be wrong, 00:46:09.21\00:46:11.46 can you say Amen! 00:46:11.49\00:46:12.46 But the word of God can not be wrong, so don't think for 00:46:12.47\00:46:15.25 a moment that your pastor can't be wrong, 00:46:15.28\00:46:17.21 I'm telling you can be wrong and if you don't believe me, 00:46:17.24\00:46:19.81 you can talk to my wife, and she will tell you, 00:46:19.84\00:46:21.29 he can be wrong, but the word can't be wrong. 00:46:21.32\00:46:24.66 Can you say Amen! And the concern that I have 00:46:26.25\00:46:29.13 here, is that we're saying oh, I just like this church, 00:46:29.16\00:46:30.99 and I love the stained glass, and I love being a part of the 00:46:31.02\00:46:33.56 choir, and they have such a nice social hour, 00:46:33.59\00:46:36.65 and I love the program for the kids, and we have a 00:46:36.68\00:46:38.86 wonderful Woman's Book Club, and on, and on, and on, 00:46:38.89\00:46:41.38 but at the end of the day, if that church is not the pillar 00:46:41.41\00:46:44.65 and ground of truth, you are in the wrong church. 00:46:44.68\00:46:46.72 Does that make sense? 00:46:46.75\00:46:48.24 Even if you are happy as a Leprechaun, 00:46:49.14\00:46:51.21 if you are in a church that is not preaching the truth 00:46:51.24\00:46:55.17 you are in the wrong church. 00:46:55.29\00:46:56.26 Does that make sense everyone? 00:46:56.27\00:46:58.23 I mean is that radical, is that to radical yes or no? 00:46:58.26\00:47:02.13 I hope, it doesn't sound to radical to me. 00:47:02.66\00:47:05.48 Let's continue on here, we have this woman that we 00:47:05.51\00:47:08.97 are being called out of: 00:47:09.00\00:47:10.72 and it is a: 00:47:11.79\00:47:12.76 If you have any of those residual elements, 00:47:20.36\00:47:22.66 in addition to many other residual elements 00:47:22.69\00:47:25.09 that could be sided, you should seriously consider 00:47:25.12\00:47:27.76 evaluating your commitment to a church that's not standing 00:47:27.79\00:47:31.73 on truth, does that make sense everyone? 00:47:31.76\00:47:34.19 Yes or no, absolutely, by the way don't be afraid of that 00:47:34.22\00:47:37.78 Jesus Himself changed churches 00:47:37.81\00:47:39.52 if you want to use that language. 00:47:39.55\00:47:40.70 Because when Jesus began His public ministry, 00:47:40.73\00:47:43.87 He went in and He said to those people who were 00:47:44.20\00:47:46.07 selling things in the temple, He said take these things 00:47:46.10\00:47:48.83 out of here, you've made my Father's house a den of thieves, 00:47:48.86\00:47:52.63 but at the end of His public ministry, three and a half years 00:47:52.66\00:47:54.47 later after they had consistently rejected the 00:47:54.50\00:47:56.39 evidences of His Messiah ship, and His divinity, 00:47:56.42\00:47:58.37 He said your house has left to you what? 00:47:58.40\00:48:01.12 Desolate, so was Jesus a Jew? 00:48:01.15\00:48:03.22 Sure not only was Jesus a Jew, Jesus was the one who had 00:48:04.13\00:48:08.13 Himself called Abraham the first Jew. 00:48:08.66\00:48:10.38 Jesus' great, great, grandfather built that temple 00:48:10.41\00:48:13.85 Solomon and David, and of course the Solomonic temple had been 00:48:14.67\00:48:18.20 destroyed, but the point here is, if anybody had their roots 00:48:18.23\00:48:21.37 in a religious system, it was Jesus. 00:48:21.40\00:48:23.14 But when Jesus saw that religious system refused 00:48:23.17\00:48:26.54 to follow truth, He left the system, and followed truth. 00:48:26.63\00:48:30.60 And He established something called the church, 00:48:31.07\00:48:34.35 we're going to talk about that tomorrow morning, Who Is Real 00:48:35.79\00:48:38.65 Israel, beloved I have said it before and I will say it again 00:48:38.68\00:48:42.44 I would rather worship with twelve people under an Oak tree 00:48:42.47\00:48:45.29 on truth and in spirit, than with five thousand people 00:48:45.32\00:48:49.15 in the most glorious cathedral with the most 00:48:49.61\00:48:51.80 Charismatic pastor. 00:48:51.83\00:48:52.94 Can you say Amen! 00:48:52.97\00:48:54.22 I hope you feel the same way, I really, really, hope you do, 00:48:54.64\00:48:57.89 and so Babylon the Great: 00:48:57.92\00:48:59.70 And we have already said that, and as we've discussed 00:49:03.53\00:49:05.44 yesterday, many of these churches are rushing back 00:49:05.47\00:49:08.96 to get back into bed with the great mother church Rome. 00:49:09.29\00:49:13.01 In fact they are wanting to distance themselves 00:49:13.04\00:49:14.84 from anything that separate themselves from Rome, 00:49:14.87\00:49:17.00 and as we discussed yesterday, 00:49:17.03\00:49:18.23 who's making all of the concessions, 00:49:18.26\00:49:20.08 the Protestants or the Catholics? 00:49:20.11\00:49:21.77 The Protestants are the ones making the concessions: 00:49:21.80\00:49:25.41 Let's go to Revelation 12, during the time of Constantine, 00:49:27.59\00:49:31.59 and just after the time of Constantine, 00:49:34.37\00:49:35.86 basically if you didn't get on with the program, 00:49:35.89\00:49:37.67 you could be persecuted, and if you wouldn't bow to the pope 00:49:37.70\00:49:40.73 and the prelates and all of the various dogmas and decrees 00:49:40.76\00:49:43.22 of papalism, you were persecuted and so God's true 00:49:43.25\00:49:45.88 church, God's true people fled into the what everyone? 00:49:45.91\00:49:49.10 Into the wilderness, I am in Revelation 12 and I will pick 00:49:49.13\00:49:52.94 it up in verse 6, Then the woman fled into the wilderness, 00:49:52.97\00:49:56.95 where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed 00:49:58.56\00:50:01.35 her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days. 00:50:01.38\00:50:03.89 We've already seen that that's the one thousand 00:50:03.92\00:50:05.57 two hundred sixty years of papal oppression, 00:50:05.60\00:50:07.83 and the woman fled into the wilderness, because basically 00:50:07.86\00:50:11.68 there was only one show in town, 00:50:11.71\00:50:13.00 and that show was the Roman Church. 00:50:13.03\00:50:14.55 She had to leave because of persecution, 00:50:14.58\00:50:17.38 because of what everyone? 00:50:17.41\00:50:18.91 It's not like our day and age when we pull out this 00:50:18.94\00:50:21.31 monolithically large phone book and we say what church 00:50:21.34\00:50:23.86 should we go to, and there's page, after page, after page, 00:50:23.89\00:50:27.79 of any kind of church to fit any kind of lifestyle, 00:50:27.82\00:50:31.03 whatever you want, in those days, there was one gig in town. 00:50:31.06\00:50:34.59 There was THEE church, not the churches, THEE church, 00:50:34.62\00:50:38.34 and when THEE church basically said it's our way or the highway 00:50:39.64\00:50:43.23 it's our way or the stake, it's our way or it's the 00:50:43.26\00:50:45.82 Coliseum, many people say hey listen we're out of here! 00:50:45.85\00:50:48.93 We want to worship God according to the dictates of our own 00:50:48.96\00:50:51.47 conscience, and they fled into the wilderness where they could 00:50:51.50\00:50:53.23 worship God in spirit and in truth, 00:50:53.26\00:50:54.96 even at significant inconvenience to themselves. 00:50:54.99\00:50:58.26 So the church fled into the wilderness, and you have there 00:50:58.74\00:51:01.82 marvelous, marvelous, in the valleys of Northern Italy 00:51:01.85\00:51:04.81 and other places, the great Piedmont Valleys, 00:51:04.84\00:51:06.73 you have people like the Waldensian's and the Hugenot's, 00:51:06.76\00:51:09.56 and the Albigense's, and others who fled 00:51:09.59\00:51:11.79 papal persecution, so that they could worship God 00:51:11.82\00:51:14.29 in spirit and truth in the wilderness rather than 00:51:14.32\00:51:16.86 capitulate to the papal dogmas, decrees, and doctrines, 00:51:16.89\00:51:19.85 is everybody with me yes or no? 00:51:19.88\00:51:21.43 So that is exactly what Bible prophecy said that they would 00:51:21.46\00:51:23.71 flee into the wilderness. 00:51:23.74\00:51:24.71 Now it's amazing to see here that Revelation 12, 00:51:24.74\00:51:27.42 it says that the serpent cast out of his mouth water 00:51:27.45\00:51:30.65 like a flood, that he might cause the woman to be carried 00:51:30.68\00:51:32.90 away by the flood, very interesting it says..., 00:51:32.93\00:51:35.33 look at verse 15, Revelation 12:15. 00:51:35.36\00:51:37.88 So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood 00:51:37.91\00:51:40.38 after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away 00:51:40.41\00:51:41.95 by the flood. But the earth helped the woman, 00:51:41.98\00:51:45.22 and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood 00:51:45.64\00:51:47.76 which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. 00:51:47.79\00:51:49.26 Now we have already been over this in Revelation 13, 00:51:49.29\00:51:51.15 God opened up a whole new continent, God opened up 00:51:51.18\00:51:54.33 a whole new hemisphere, and people fleeing 00:51:54.36\00:51:56.88 civil persecution and religious persecution landed on these 00:51:56.91\00:52:00.23 glorious shores, got off kissed the ground, 00:52:00.26\00:52:03.25 and said here we will establish a new kind of government. 00:52:03.28\00:52:05.45 Not with subjects, but with citizens, 00:52:05.48\00:52:07.66 a government of the people, for the people, 00:52:07.69\00:52:10.08 and by the people. 00:52:10.11\00:52:11.42 God basically opened up a whole new land, where His church 00:52:11.63\00:52:14.75 could flee from papal persecution, and flee from 00:52:14.78\00:52:17.48 monarchal persecution, and establish a true government 00:52:17.51\00:52:21.19 that would keep the church and the state as separate, 00:52:21.41\00:52:24.46 rather than bed partners and thus ensure that 00:52:24.49\00:52:26.78 religious persecution could not transpire, 00:52:26.81\00:52:28.69 if this makes sense say Amen! 00:52:28.72\00:52:29.69 I believe that with every bit of my being, 00:52:29.70\00:52:32.57 and I would challenge you to go look at some of American 00:52:32.60\00:52:35.69 History, and the providences of God, I mean providence 00:52:35.72\00:52:38.44 after providence, after providence, after providence, 00:52:38.47\00:52:40.73 they don't teach it in school's any more, because you can't 00:52:40.76\00:52:42.62 mention the name of God, the point is this. 00:52:42.65\00:52:44.46 It would have been impossible for this nation to come about 00:52:44.49\00:52:48.12 the way that it did, in the manner that it did, 00:52:48.15\00:52:50.13 as quickly as it did, without the special intervention 00:52:50.16\00:52:53.71 and providence of God. 00:52:53.74\00:52:55.26 Incredible what God has done for this nation, 00:52:55.29\00:52:57.99 that's why it says that He had two horns like a lamb. 00:52:58.02\00:53:01.45 Like a what? A lamb, and he espoused the great principles 00:53:01.48\00:53:04.36 of Republicanism, that is civil liberty, and Protestantism 00:53:04.39\00:53:08.16 that is religious liberty, but unfortunately it said that it 00:53:08.19\00:53:10.41 would eventually speak like a dragon, we know that, 00:53:10.44\00:53:13.64 that's where it's going. 00:53:13.67\00:53:14.64 Beloved in the post 9/11 world with the passage of 00:53:14.65\00:53:17.17 The Patriot Act, and a hundred other things, 00:53:17.20\00:53:19.09 I don't know if you are feeling it, but your civil liberty's 00:53:19.12\00:53:21.31 are just getting like this, and like this. 00:53:21.34\00:53:23.21 And what's happening is that personal liberty's 00:53:23.24\00:53:26.60 are being sacrificed increasingly on the altar 00:53:28.03\00:53:30.95 of National Security. 00:53:30.98\00:53:32.34 That's the direction you are headed beloved, 00:53:32.37\00:53:34.56 and if I read my Bible right, and I think I do, 00:53:34.59\00:53:36.97 it's only going to get tighter and tighter, and uglier, 00:53:37.00\00:53:39.57 and uglier, until eventually it climaxes with the 00:53:39.60\00:53:42.69 mark of the beast crisis. 00:53:42.72\00:53:44.10 That's the direction that we're headed, 00:53:44.13\00:53:46.08 absolutely incredible, you are getting the big picture here. 00:53:46.11\00:53:48.16 Now I want to fast forward here through two slides, 00:53:48.19\00:53:50.18 because I want you to see something that is absolutely 00:53:50.21\00:53:51.74 critical, there it is. 00:53:51.77\00:53:52.74 Now this is a simplified slide but it will help you to 00:53:52.75\00:53:55.99 sort of see what happened from the 1400's to the 1800's. 00:53:56.02\00:53:59.00 God started calling faithful men and so you basically had the 00:53:59.03\00:54:02.02 period of the Dark Ages, and then these people that 00:54:02.05\00:54:04.18 I have just described, in the valley's of Northern Italy. 00:54:04.21\00:54:06.27 They said no, we will not stand for the papal dogmas, 00:54:06.30\00:54:09.61 the papal decrees, and the papal teachings, 00:54:09.64\00:54:11.33 we will stand on the Bible, and they went away to these 00:54:11.36\00:54:13.49 incredible..., you can go take tours even now 00:54:13.52\00:54:16.16 Reformation tours up on the valley's of Northern Italy 00:54:16.19\00:54:18.69 and go to the very museums, the very places where these 00:54:18.72\00:54:21.10 people, sometimes they would be caught 00:54:21.13\00:54:22.39 and slaughtered, just terrible, but in the quietness of their 00:54:22.42\00:54:26.40 homes up in the high mountain valleys, they would start 00:54:26.74\00:54:28.65 transcribing the Bible, people like the Waldensian's and they 00:54:28.68\00:54:31.44 said it's the Bible, it's the Bible, and then after that 00:54:31.47\00:54:34.76 a man by the name of John Husk came on the scene, 00:54:34.79\00:54:36.70 one of the great reformers, and he said no it's obedience 00:54:36.73\00:54:39.51 not obedience to man, but obedience to God. 00:54:39.54\00:54:42.07 And then a man by the name Martin Luther, 00:54:42.10\00:54:44.13 Martin what everyone? 00:54:44.16\00:54:45.13 Luther was reading through his Bible one day, 00:54:45.16\00:54:47.00 and he came across the four words that rocked the world, 00:54:47.03\00:54:49.67 The Just Shall Live By Faith, just live by faith. 00:54:49.70\00:54:53.23 He found those words and he saw that was radically 00:54:55.20\00:54:58.08 incompatible with the Roman system, and so he nailed those 00:54:58.11\00:55:00.64 ninety five pieces to the door, there at Wittenberg 00:55:00.67\00:55:02.80 and so he came out a little bit further, but he didn't come 00:55:02.83\00:55:05.36 all the way out. 00:55:05.39\00:55:06.41 A man named John Calvin came out a little further 00:55:06.44\00:55:08.00 and he emphasized Christian growth and God's sovereignty 00:55:08.03\00:55:10.76 and then the Anabaptists came out and said 00:55:10.79\00:55:12.44 baptism by emersion, not this sprinkling stuff, 00:55:12.47\00:55:14.85 and then John Wesley said emphasis on holiness, 00:55:14.88\00:55:17.03 they were called Methodists, that's actually a derogatory 00:55:17.06\00:55:19.15 term, but they took that term and incorporated that term, 00:55:19.18\00:55:21.43 and they embraced that term, then a man by the name of 00:55:21.46\00:55:23.50 William Miller began a radical, radical movement here 00:55:23.53\00:55:26.54 in the United States of America called Millerism where you 00:55:26.57\00:55:28.71 said Jesus is coming, Jesus is coming, 00:55:28.74\00:55:30.42 and many people believe that. 00:55:30.45\00:55:31.42 Some estimate that he had as many as one to two hundred 00:55:31.43\00:55:33.75 thousand followers, and there was this sudden Apocalyptic 00:55:33.78\00:55:36.19 sense that Jesus was coming soon, and then this thing called 00:55:36.22\00:55:39.28 the advent movement, I'm going to talk to you about that 00:55:39.31\00:55:41.05 tomorrow, putting the emphasis back on the Sabbath 00:55:41.08\00:55:43.98 the truth about death, and the importance of 00:55:44.01\00:55:46.11 Christian lifestyle, and living for the glory of God. 00:55:46.14\00:55:48.72 So basically what you see is, people were coming out of Rome 00:55:48.75\00:55:52.23 but instead of continuing to walk out of Rome, 00:55:52.26\00:55:54.82 they would plant their banner, and they would say we are 00:55:54.85\00:55:57.24 Lutherans, even though Martin Luther said don't call 00:55:57.27\00:55:59.48 yourselves Lutherans, they set up their banner. 00:55:59.51\00:56:01.35 We're Lutherans, somebody came out a little further, 00:56:01.38\00:56:03.03 planted their banner, we're Calvinists, 00:56:03.06\00:56:04.93 but truth was marching on. 00:56:04.96\00:56:06.80 Truth was what? Marching on but everybody just sort of 00:56:06.85\00:56:09.77 [eeert] and they stopped and they felt safe there 00:56:09.80\00:56:12.68 and they started writing their decree's, 00:56:12.71\00:56:13.75 and they started writing their creeds, 00:56:13.78\00:56:14.99 and they started writing their codes, and truth was 00:56:15.02\00:56:17.36 marching on, and so somebody came out a little further, 00:56:17.39\00:56:19.81 but instead of keep going, they plant their banner 00:56:19.84\00:56:21.79 they say we are Calvinists, then somebody comes out 00:56:21.82\00:56:23.40 a little further, plants their banner we are Baptists, 00:56:23.43\00:56:25.60 somebody comes out a little further, plants their banner, 00:56:25.63\00:56:27.27 we are Methodists, somebody comes out a little further, 00:56:27.30\00:56:29.39 we are this, a little further, we are this, a little further, 00:56:29.42\00:56:32.14 we are this, that's why there are so many different 00:56:32.17\00:56:34.05 denominations. 00:56:34.08\00:56:35.05 The reason there are so many different denominations 00:56:35.25\00:56:38.57 is that every denomination is at various stages 00:56:38.60\00:56:41.91 of coming out of Apostate Rome. 00:56:41.94\00:56:44.20 Unfortunately people have set up their banners, 00:56:45.17\00:56:47.67 they have set up their camps, at different areas along that 00:56:47.70\00:56:50.58 continuum, but at the end of time, God is going to have a 00:56:50.61\00:56:54.01 remnant that will abandon all paganism, will abandon all 00:56:54.04\00:56:57.81 papalism, and will stand for the Bible and the Bible only. 00:56:57.84\00:57:01.82 So God not only calls us out of Babylon, God calls us in 00:57:02.83\00:57:06.83 to this remnant movement that's bigger than a church. 00:57:07.86\00:57:11.27 It's a movement, it's a what? 00:57:11.30\00:57:13.53 It's a movement, and this chart sort of depicts that 00:57:15.01\00:57:18.79 powerfully and compellingly and we'll talk more about that 00:57:18.91\00:57:21.54 tomorrow night. 00:57:21.57\00:57:22.60
