Tonight we begin a 3 part series, and these 3 parts 00:00:15.63\00:00:19.53 cover a topic that is very important Biblically, but a 00:00:19.56\00:00:23.31 topic that, unfortunately, is not well understood. 00:00:23.34\00:00:27.00 It addresses the topic of the judgment, the judgment from 00:00:27.03\00:00:29.95 a Biblical perspective. When we use the word "judgment", 00:00:29.98\00:00:32.89 or the word "judgment" comes into the mind, many times 00:00:32.92\00:00:35.80 we see that as a negative thing, we think 00:00:35.83\00:00:38.15 "Oh, the judgment... " we begin to shake, and this fear, 00:00:38.18\00:00:40.93 and trepidation of this impending judgment, 00:00:40.96\00:00:44.32 "Guilty" sort of thing. What we're going to discover 00:00:44.35\00:00:47.12 from a Biblical perspective is that the judgment is actually 00:00:47.15\00:00:50.18 good news for those who have put their faith and their 00:00:50.21\00:00:52.78 confidence in Christ. That's why the title is 00:00:52.81\00:00:56.99 "There really is a Final Judgment," 00:00:57.02\00:01:01.43 "but don't be afraid, it's good news." 00:01:01.47\00:01:05.81 So let's begin with a word of prayer and we'll dive 00:01:05.85\00:01:08.79 right into our presentation. Father in heaven, we come 00:01:08.82\00:01:11.63 before You this evening and we are anticipating a great 00:01:11.66\00:01:14.47 blessing, you have been with us so many nights, 00:01:14.50\00:01:19.28 and Father, You've blessed us, You've enriched us, You've 00:01:19.32\00:01:21.78 given us a Biblical understanding of so many 00:01:21.81\00:01:24.52 things. Father, now as we embark from a Biblical perspective, 00:01:24.55\00:01:29.03 upon this topic of the judgment, particularly as it refers 00:01:29.06\00:01:33.29 and references Bible prophecy, we ask, Father, that Your 00:01:33.32\00:01:37.52 Spirit will be with us. We want to thank You for 00:01:37.55\00:01:40.40 the insights that you've already given as we have opened 00:01:40.43\00:01:43.71 Your Word You have opened our hearts. So Father, 00:01:43.74\00:01:46.86 tonight we ask that the Spirit that inspired this Word, 00:01:46.89\00:01:50.14 the Spirit that inspired the Bible would now come into 00:01:50.17\00:01:53.85 this room and be the Spirit that instructs that us. 00:01:53.88\00:01:57.53 Father, please, through this humble vessel, do something 00:01:57.56\00:02:00.03 awesome, do something supernatural and may we come 00:02:00.06\00:02:02.95 apart here with a clearer, more Biblical, more accurate 00:02:02.98\00:02:06.49 understanding of who you are, and just exactly what this 00:02:06.52\00:02:10.00 judgment entails, for we ask it in Jesus' name, 00:02:10.03\00:02:13.24 and let everyone say "amen". [Audience] Amen. 00:02:13.27\00:02:16.42 Okay, great. So let's go right to our 00:02:16.45\00:02:18.55 study guide, we do have quite a little bit of information 00:02:18.58\00:02:21.21 to cover tonight, so I want to make you that same promise 00:02:21.24\00:02:23.80 I have in nights passed, if I go so fast tonight that you just 00:02:23.83\00:02:26.57 can't follow me, which seems unlikely because I'm afraid 00:02:26.60\00:02:29.30 to go too fast or my voice might just turn off, but if somehow 00:02:29.33\00:02:32.27 I'm able to go too fast tonight so that you can't keep up 00:02:32.30\00:02:35.05 with me, you just go back to that CD table, you say 00:02:35.08\00:02:37.72 "Randy, I couldn't understand what he was saying," 00:02:37.75\00:02:40.32 "I only got half of my blanks filled in, and I need a free CD" 00:02:40.35\00:02:43.08 "and David said that you'd give me one", we will give you one. 00:02:43.11\00:02:45.84 If I go so fast tonight that you can't get it, it doesn't do you 00:02:45.87\00:02:48.57 as much as we want it to, now I did tell you that I speak 00:02:48.60\00:02:51.36 4 times faster than the average person, so if you only get 00:02:51.39\00:02:54.08 half of what I say, you get twice as much as the normal 00:02:54.11\00:02:56.90 speaking person would. Okay? 00:02:56.93\00:02:59.03 So let's go right to our study guide, and it says: 00:02:59.06\00:03:01.58 This series of presentation covers a very important topic: 00:03:01.61\00:03:04.30 The Sanctuary. With the raising of hands, 00:03:04.33\00:03:06.56 how many know what the sanctuary is, the Biblical sanctuary? 00:03:06.59\00:03:09.26 The sanctuary, that is, the temple of God. 00:03:09.29\00:03:11.70 We must begin by noting that there are 2 temples: 00:03:11.73\00:03:14.39 and earthly and a heavenly, and that's going to be 00:03:14.42\00:03:17.02 absolutely central, absolutely fundamental to our study 00:03:17.05\00:03:19.96 this evening and in the forthcoming nights. 00:03:19.99\00:03:22.47 2 Temples, an earthly and a heavenly, we'll look at that 00:03:22.50\00:03:25.10 in just a moment. As we shall soon discover, 00:03:25.13\00:03:27.74 the temple on earth was a picture, or a model, 00:03:27.77\00:03:30.44 of the temple in heaven. Just as the high priest 00:03:30.47\00:03:33.13 ministered in the earthly sanctuary, Jesus Christ, 00:03:33.16\00:03:35.76 our High Priest is ministering in the heavenly sanctuary. 00:03:35.79\00:03:39.23 Now before we do that we want to set this all in its 00:03:39.26\00:03:41.74 proper context. I'm going to give you several 00:03:41.77\00:03:44.41 texts, don't worry if you can't get all of these, that's fine, 00:03:44.44\00:03:47.34 but what I want to try and show you is that from a Biblical, 00:03:47.37\00:03:50.27 New Testament perspective, the judgment was future 00:03:50.30\00:03:53.93 to the New Testament writers, that's critical, the judgment 00:03:53.96\00:03:57.34 was future to the New Testament writers. 00:03:57.37\00:03:59.93 Now, none of these texts are in your study guide tonight, 00:03:59.96\00:04:02.60 so if want these you're going to have to write them down. 00:04:02.63\00:04:05.26 Now, we will go over these texts again at least 1 more 00:04:05.29\00:04:07.89 time, but I just want to quickly go over them with you 00:04:07.92\00:04:10.49 on the board. Acts 17:31, Luke writing, 00:04:10.52\00:04:13.53 Paul speaking: [text on screen] 00:04:13.56\00:04:16.40 "that man" - being Jesus Christ. [Continues to read] 00:04:25.18\00:04:29.34 In the English language we have 3 verb tenses: past, present 00:04:30.84\00:04:35.54 and future. You say "Of course, there's only 3 verb tenses", 00:04:35.57\00:04:39.10 well in other language there are actually many different 00:04:39.13\00:04:42.44 verb tenses, you have past perfect, and past imperfect, 00:04:42.47\00:04:45.53 and present continuous, etc, but in the English language 00:04:45.56\00:04:48.41 we have just past, present and future. Now I want you 00:04:48.44\00:04:51.22 to notice this again keeping that in mind "Because He has" 00:04:51.25\00:04:54.92 "appointed a day on which He will judge", what verb tense 00:04:54.95\00:04:58.59 would that be? [Audience] Future. 00:04:58.62\00:05:01.23 He will do it. Now notice the next passage, 00:05:01.26\00:05:03.87 very similar, Acts 24:25, Luke writing, Paul speaking: 00:05:03.90\00:05:08.50 [text on screen] 00:05:08.53\00:05:10.54 So Paul was speaking to Felix and he was talking about 00:05:21.41\00:05:24.28 righteousness, he was talking about temperance, 00:05:24.31\00:05:26.97 and the judgment that was going to come, which means it was 00:05:27.00\00:05:30.01 in the future. I'll show you a few other 00:05:30.04\00:05:32.16 texts to that effect, that are many in the New Testament, 00:05:32.19\00:05:35.06 we really want to solidify this with our thinking as we commence 00:05:35.09\00:05:37.99 with this 3 part series on the judgment. Romans 2:16, 00:05:38.02\00:05:40.99 the apostle Paul: [text on screen] 00:05:41.02\00:05:43.80 So if you're paying attention, 2 things are beginning 00:05:47.45\00:05:49.77 to emerge, #1- the judgment was future to the Bible writers, 00:05:49.80\00:05:53.94 that is, the New Testament writers. 00:05:53.97\00:05:56.79 The second thing that you're noticing is that Jesus Christ 00:05:56.83\00:05:59.97 is central to the judgment. Did you notice that? 00:06:00.00\00:06:02.65 Notice it says here: "He will judge the secrets of men" 00:06:02.68\00:06:05.57 "by Jesus Christ." So those are the 2 things that 00:06:05.60\00:06:08.53 are emerging, Romans 14:10: [text on screen] 00:06:08.56\00:06:12.03 That's a very good question for us, sometimes we can be 00:06:12.06\00:06:14.75 very judgmental, Paul says "Hey!" [text on screen] 00:06:14.78\00:06:18.74 "...shall", what verb tense is that? Future tense. 00:06:20.84\00:06:24.13 [continues to read] 00:06:24.16\00:06:26.07 So you see both things there in that passage, the judgment 00:06:27.42\00:06:30.17 is future, and Christ is central to the judgment 00:06:30.20\00:06:33.62 message. And one last one, 00:06:33.65\00:06:35.76 Romans 14:11,13: [text on screen] 00:06:35.79\00:06:38.71 There are other passages that could be presented, it looks 00:06:47.76\00:06:51.65 like I threw one more in, Hebrews 10:30: [text on screen] 00:06:51.68\00:06:55.78 So it should be crystal clear to us that from the perspective 00:07:01.78\00:07:04.56 of the New Testament writers, who were writing about 00:07:04.59\00:07:07.71 the 1st century AD, for them the judgment was always 00:07:07.74\00:07:10.82 in the future, not in the past, not in the present. 00:07:10.85\00:07:13.90 Paul reasoned of judgment to come. 00:07:13.93\00:07:18.66 So that's the first thing we really want to solidify 00:07:18.70\00:07:21.51 in the thinking as we commence this 3 part series. 00:07:21.54\00:07:24.15 Now let's do a little bit of review, we've been over 00:07:24.18\00:07:26.67 this before, but it's absolutely essential that we see 00:07:26.70\00:07:29.13 the judgment in the big scheme of things. We spent a little 00:07:29.16\00:07:32.02 time in the second night of our meetings looking at this 00:07:32.05\00:07:35.47 statue here, and a man by the name of Nebuchadnezzar had 00:07:35.50\00:07:38.88 a dream, and that statue represented a great timeline. 00:07:38.91\00:07:42.23 What was the head of gold everyone? [Audience] Babylon. 00:07:42.26\00:07:45.61 Chest and arms of silver? [Audience] Medo-Persia. 00:07:45.64\00:07:48.25 Belly and thighs of bronze? [Audience] Greece. 00:07:48.28\00:07:50.86 The long legs of iron was...? [Audience] Rome. 00:07:50.89\00:07:53.43 And then down there the feet of iron and clay? 00:07:53.46\00:07:55.93 - [Audience] Divided Rome. - Very very good. 00:07:55.96\00:07:58.40 And then we saw these beasts in Daniel 7, in fact, why don't 00:07:58.43\00:08:01.15 we go there together, Daniel 7, and here we found that important 00:08:01.18\00:08:03.90 Bible principle of "review and enlarge", very good, 00:08:03.93\00:08:07.77 "A" students in the front row. That doesn't mean you're not 00:08:07.80\00:08:10.65 "A" students in the back row, it doesn't mean that at all, 00:08:10.68\00:08:13.47 it just means we've got some "A" students here in the front row. 00:08:13.50\00:08:16.38 So God would review, just as any good teacher would do, 00:08:16.41\00:08:19.22 just as any good educator would do, He reviews the material 00:08:19.25\00:08:22.02 He's been over, and then He begins to enlarge upon 00:08:22.05\00:08:24.63 that material. So here in Daniel 7 we saw 00:08:24.66\00:08:27.18 not 4 metals, but 4 beasts. The first was a lion that had 00:08:27.21\00:08:32.55 eagle's wings, and that represented the same thing 00:08:32.58\00:08:35.06 that the head of gold did: Babylon, reigning from 00:08:35.09\00:08:37.48 605-539 BC. After that there was a bear with 3 ribs in the mouth, 00:08:37.51\00:08:42.88 what was unusual about that bear? It was tipped up 00:08:42.91\00:08:46.39 on one side, showing an imbalance of power, 00:08:46.42\00:08:49.43 and that was the Medo-Persian power, reigning from 539-331 BC, 00:08:49.46\00:08:52.93 corresponding with the chest and arms of silver. 00:08:52.96\00:08:55.85 Then we move to the 4 headed strange leopard, with 4 00:08:55.88\00:08:58.70 wings of a fowl, corresponding with Greece, and you remember, 00:08:58.73\00:09:01.97 the 4 heads of the leopard represented the kingdom of 00:09:02.00\00:09:04.47 Greece after Alexander the Great died, his kingdom was divided 00:09:04.50\00:09:08.48 into how many parts? [Audience] 4. 00:09:08.51\00:09:10.98 That's exactly right, Alexander the Great's last 00:09:11.01\00:09:13.67 words were "The kingdom goes to the strongest", 00:09:13.70\00:09:16.36 from 331-168 BC. We also told you that wings 00:09:16.39\00:09:19.01 in Bible prophecy represent speed, and a leopard 00:09:19.04\00:09:21.59 is one of the fastest land mammals, so you put 4 wings 00:09:21.62\00:09:24.33 on a leopard, you have a fast moving beast. 00:09:24.36\00:09:27.10 Greece, the great kingdom of Greece of antiquity, 00:09:27.13\00:09:31.03 Alexander the Great began to conquer the then known world 00:09:31.06\00:09:33.86 at the age of 16, by the time he was 32 he had completed it. 00:09:33.89\00:09:36.66 In fact, it is said, on one occasion that Alexander 00:09:36.69\00:09:39.30 the Great wept because he said there was no one left to kill. 00:09:39.33\00:09:42.16 So then we move to the long legs of Rome, and here this 00:09:42.19\00:09:46.42 beast, this ferocious, terrible, this horrific beast, 00:09:46.46\00:09:50.69 reigning for almost 700 years from 168 BC-476 AD, 00:09:50.73\00:09:54.22 that would be the Great Iron Monarchy of Rome. 00:09:54.25\00:09:57.52 We've given you several quotations from secular 00:09:57.55\00:10:00.76 historians who support this basic, broad chronology, 00:10:00.79\00:10:05.17 but then Rome was divided, it was not conquered. 00:10:05.21\00:10:09.58 How many toes would there be on this image? 00:10:09.61\00:10:12.30 [Audience] Ten. Ten toes, how many horns 00:10:12.33\00:10:14.98 came out of that beast? [Audience] Ten. 00:10:15.01\00:10:17.61 And what kind of teeth did that beast have? 00:10:17.64\00:10:20.19 - [Audience] Iron. - Iron teeth, corresponding 00:10:20.22\00:10:22.70 with the iron in the legs. So God is simply reviewing. 00:10:22.73\00:10:25.54 Then you remember there was that little horn, 00:10:25.57\00:10:28.20 I want to go back to that slide there...come on... 00:10:28.23\00:10:30.92 have mercy...Oh, maybe I should point it this way at 00:10:30.95\00:10:33.64 the computer. [Audience laughs] 00:10:33.67\00:10:36.10 So, there was that little horn, and that was the new 00:10:36.13\00:10:38.96 information, so you're there in Daniel 7, let's pick it up. 00:10:38.99\00:10:41.73 Daniel 7, if you've been following along you'd get right 00:10:41.76\00:10:44.55 up to verse 7, and that's the beasts, so I'll pick it up 00:10:44.58\00:10:47.37 in verse 7, you'll know right where we are. 00:10:47.40\00:10:49.93 Daniel 7:7: "After this I saw in the night visions, and behold," 00:10:49.96\00:10:52.65 "a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, exceedingly strong," 00:10:52.68\00:10:55.34 "it had huge iron teeth, it was devouring and breaking" 00:10:55.37\00:10:58.13 "in pieces, and trampling the residue with its feet;" 00:10:58.16\00:11:00.85 "it was different from all the beasts that were before it," 00:11:00.88\00:11:03.62 "and it had 10 horns." Now watch this, verse 8: 00:11:03.65\00:11:06.11 "I was considering the horns", Daniel says "I was thinking" 00:11:06.14\00:11:08.87 "about those horns", something about the horns caught 00:11:08.90\00:11:11.53 his attention; what does the word "consider" mean? 00:11:11.56\00:11:14.10 It means what? If I say "Well, let me consider it", 00:11:14.13\00:11:16.64 what am I saying? "Let me think about it", 00:11:16.67\00:11:19.40 so Daniel says "I was thinking about the horns", "...and there" 00:11:19.43\00:11:23.18 "came up another horn, a little one, coming up among them," 00:11:23.21\00:11:26.96 "before whom 3 of the first horns were plucked up by" 00:11:26.99\00:11:29.65 "the roots, and in this horn were eyes like the eyes" 00:11:29.68\00:11:32.31 "of a man, and a mouth speaking pompous words." 00:11:32.34\00:11:34.85 This little horn is none other than the Antichrist power, 00:11:34.88\00:11:37.55 we've already identified this individual, very interesting 00:11:37.58\00:11:40.19 though, notice it says that he sees this little horn coming up, 00:11:40.22\00:11:43.27 and the little horn is speaking pompous words. 00:11:43.30\00:11:46.94 Now, what is the very next thing that Daniel sees? 00:11:46.98\00:11:50.62 Look at verse 9, this is absolutely critical. 00:11:50.65\00:11:54.04 Verse 9: "I watched till thrones were put in place" 00:11:54.07\00:11:59.80 "and the Ancient of Days was seated." 00:11:59.83\00:12:02.70 Who's the Ancient of Days? That would be God the Father, 00:12:02.73\00:12:05.53 "...the Ancient of Days was seated, His garment was as" 00:12:05.56\00:12:08.66 "white as snow, His hair was like pure wool, His throne" 00:12:08.69\00:12:11.59 "wa a fiery flame and its wheels a burning fire", verse 10, 00:12:11.62\00:12:14.52 "a fiery stream issued from before Him, thousand" 00:12:14.55\00:12:18.69 "thousands ministered to Him, ten thousand times ten thousand" 00:12:18.73\00:12:22.04 "stood before Him,", and notice this last part "the court" 00:12:22.07\00:12:25.33 "was seated and the books were opened." 00:12:25.36\00:12:29.31 I want you to notice that sequence, just imagine with 00:12:29.35\00:12:32.28 me that you're Daniel and God is showing you something in vision. 00:12:32.31\00:12:38.10 So you see this lion with eagle's wings come up, 00:12:38.13\00:12:40.87 and you're watching it across the cinematic screen 00:12:40.90\00:12:43.57 of the sky, then you see the bear with the 3 ribs in 00:12:43.60\00:12:46.23 the mouth come up, representing the Medo-Persian empire, 00:12:46.26\00:12:48.84 you're seeing across the cinematic screen of the sky; 00:12:48.87\00:12:51.38 and then you see a 4 headed leopard come up and move across 00:12:51.41\00:12:54.18 the cinematic screen of the sky, and then you see this dreadful, 00:12:54.21\00:12:56.74 terrible beast coming up, strong and horrific, and he goes 00:12:56.77\00:12:59.11 across and fades off the screen, and then you come up 00:12:59.14\00:13:01.95 and you see a little horn, the 10 horns, and then you see 00:13:01.98\00:13:04.76 this little horn, and what's the very next thing that Daniel 00:13:04.79\00:13:07.54 sees on the cinema screen? He sees a judgment scene 00:13:07.57\00:13:10.37 in heaven. Look at verse 8, 00:13:10.40\00:13:12.65 the last words of verse 8 are "a mouth speaking pompous" 00:13:12.68\00:13:15.90 "words", then verses 9 and 10 he says "I saw the judgment" 00:13:15.93\00:13:19.14 "in heaven". So if you are going to look 00:13:19.17\00:13:21.14 at this in chronology, it's actually very simple: 00:13:21.17\00:13:23.83 he sees Babylon, then he sees Medo-Persia, then he sees 00:13:23.86\00:13:28.50 Greece, then he sees Rome, and then divided Rome, then he sees 00:13:28.54\00:13:31.81 the judgment scene, is that clear? 00:13:31.84\00:13:34.77 Let's do it again, let's see if I can get it right: 00:13:34.87\00:13:38.12 he sees Babylon, Medo-Persia, then Greece, then Rome, 00:13:38.15\00:13:41.31 then divided Rome, and then the judgment, the little horn, 00:13:41.34\00:13:44.75 and then the judgment. Exactly! 00:13:44.78\00:13:47.10 So let's look at this, here are the great time periods 00:13:47.13\00:13:50.33 of Daniel 7, write these down, they're right on your study 00:13:50.36\00:13:53.53 guide: [text on screen] 00:13:53.56\00:13:55.77 That sequence has to be absolutely indelibly 00:14:06.54\00:14:09.26 impressed upon your mind, in fact, that sequence is so 00:14:09.29\00:14:12.90 important that it occurs 3 times in Daniel 7, 00:14:12.93\00:14:17.73 3 times you see that identical sequence, I'm giving you 00:14:17.77\00:14:20.68 a little moment to write that down. 00:14:20.71\00:14:23.49 For those of you who are right with me, let me show you 00:14:23.52\00:14:27.12 something fascinating, you're still there in Daniel 7, 00:14:27.15\00:14:30.75 look at verse 19, Daniel 7:19: 00:14:30.78\00:14:37.78 "Then I wished to know the truth about the 4th beast," 00:14:37.82\00:14:41.04 "which was different from all the other, exceedingly" 00:14:41.07\00:14:43.94 "dreadful, with its teeth of iron, its nails of bronze," 00:14:43.97\00:14:46.81 "which devoured, and broke in pieces, and trampled" 00:14:46.84\00:14:49.42 "the residue with its feet", so who's that great, 00:14:49.45\00:14:51.99 terrible, horrific, 4th beast? Rome. 00:14:52.02\00:14:54.71 So verse 19 is Rome, in my Bible I've put a little "R" 00:14:54.74\00:14:57.57 there, that tells me that's Rome. Now look at verse 20: 00:14:57.60\00:15:00.36 "And the 10 horns which were on its head, and the other" 00:15:00.39\00:15:02.95 "horns which came up after, before which 3 fell," 00:15:02.98\00:15:05.61 "namely, that horn which had eyes, and mouth, which spoke" 00:15:05.64\00:15:10.42 "pompous words, whose appearance was greater that his fellows." 00:15:10.46\00:15:13.37 That's the little horn. So verse 19 is Rome, 00:15:13.40\00:15:17.45 verse 20 is the little horn, now, without even looking 00:15:17.49\00:15:20.69 at verse 21, without even looking at it, what do you 00:15:20.72\00:15:23.77 think would be the next thing? [Audience] The judgment. 00:15:23.80\00:15:26.76 Look at verse 21, it says: "I was watching, and the same" 00:15:26.79\00:15:29.66 "horn was making war against the saints, and prevailing" 00:15:29.69\00:15:32.50 "against them", that's still the little horn, look at verse 22, 00:15:32.53\00:15:35.39 "until the Ancient of Days came and a judgment was given" 00:15:35.42\00:15:38.86 "in favor of the saints of the Most High, and the time" 00:15:38.89\00:15:42.19 "came for the saints to posses the kingdom", you're right, 00:15:42.22\00:15:45.48 you see the sequence, that's the second time. 00:15:45.51\00:15:48.12 So it goes here from Rome, to the little horn, 00:15:48.15\00:15:50.70 to the judgment, you've got it. Now, something in that verse, 00:15:50.73\00:15:54.37 if you've picked it up, verse 22, it says "judgment was given" 00:15:54.40\00:15:58.04 "in favor of the saints", who are the saints? 00:15:58.07\00:16:02.13 We are, God's people. Now look at this, see if you 00:16:02.17\00:16:04.98 can pick it up again, I'm in verse 23, watch the sequence 00:16:05.01\00:16:07.91 again, verse 23: "Thus he said", this is the angel explaining 00:16:07.94\00:16:10.84 the vision, it's a very simple vision as a matter of fact, 00:16:10.87\00:16:13.74 "the 4th beast shall be a 4th kingdom on the earth" 00:16:13.77\00:16:16.36 "what shall be different from all other kingdoms, it shall" 00:16:16.39\00:16:18.97 "devour the whole earth and trample it, and break it" 00:16:19.00\00:16:21.63 "in pieces." What kingdom is he talking about? 00:16:21.66\00:16:24.12 Rome, so in my Bible I've written a little "R" I've 00:16:24.15\00:16:26.76 written by verse 23, very simple, now look at verse 24. 00:16:26.79\00:16:29.33 "The 10 horns are 10 kings who shall arise out of this kingdom" 00:16:29.36\00:16:32.06 "and another shall arise after them, he shall be different" 00:16:32.09\00:16:34.76 "from the first ones, and he shall subdue 3 kings." 00:16:34.79\00:16:37.53 "He shall speak pompous words against the Most High," 00:16:37.56\00:16:40.24 "he shall persecute the saints of the Most High, he shall" 00:16:40.27\00:16:43.22 "intend to change times and laws", we've spent time 00:16:43.25\00:16:46.11 on this, "then the saints shall be given into his hands for" 00:16:46.14\00:16:48.99 "a time, times and half a time", look at that, in verse 23 00:16:49.02\00:16:51.77 you have Rome, in verses 24 and 25 you have the little 00:16:51.80\00:16:54.48 horn, now without looking at your Bible, what do you think 00:16:54.51\00:16:57.16 you would expect in verses 26 and 27? 00:16:57.19\00:16:59.82 - [Audience] Judgment. - Exactly, look at 26 and 27, 00:16:59.85\00:17:02.53 "But the court shall be seated and then will take away" 00:17:02.56\00:17:05.20 "his dominion to consume it and destroy it forever," 00:17:05.23\00:17:07.95 "then the kingdom and the dominion, and the greatness" 00:17:07.98\00:17:10.63 "of the kingdoms under the whole heaven shall be given" 00:17:10.66\00:17:13.27 "to the people of the saints of the Most High". 00:17:13.30\00:17:15.69 "God's kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominion" 00:17:15.72\00:17:18.47 "shall serve and obey Him". So 3 times in Daniel 7, 00:17:18.50\00:17:22.60 it is unmistakably clear, 3 times you see Rome, 00:17:22.63\00:17:26.73 little horn, judgment, everyone see that? 00:17:26.76\00:17:30.46 3 times, Rome, little horn, judgment. 00:17:30.50\00:17:34.13 Let's say it all together [Everyone] Rome, little horn, 00:17:34.17\00:17:36.98 judgment. There it is. 00:17:37.01\00:17:39.75 Let's continue on, if you were paying careful attention 00:17:39.79\00:17:42.41 you noticed that the very reason that the heavenly 00:17:42.44\00:17:45.12 court is called to session is because of the blasphemous 00:17:45.15\00:17:48.13 words of the little horn. The little horn is basically 00:17:48.16\00:17:51.07 shooting his mouth off against God, against God's people, 00:17:51.10\00:17:53.97 and we're going to see that more in just a moment, 00:17:54.00\00:17:57.02 so God calls His court to session to overrule 00:17:57.05\00:18:00.66 the kangaroo court of the little horn. 00:18:00.69\00:18:03.68 Notice this one: [text on screen] 00:18:03.71\00:18:06.41 In fact, you'd write that in right there if you were 00:18:08.72\00:18:11.51 paying attention. Right there at the bottom 00:18:11.54\00:18:14.02 of page 1: The pompous words of the little horn call 00:18:14.05\00:18:17.59 to session the heavenly court, additionally, the persecution 00:18:17.62\00:18:21.09 of God's people in God's name calls to session the heavenly 00:18:21.12\00:18:24.56 court. That's all right there. 00:18:24.59\00:18:27.81 The judgment is a major theme of Daniel 7, the sequence: 00:18:27.85\00:18:31.11 Rome, little horn, judgment, occurs 3 times in this 1 chapter 00:18:31.14\00:18:36.67 alone. If this much is clear so far, 00:18:36.70\00:18:39.87 let's say amen. [Audience] Amen. 00:18:39.91\00:18:43.01 Okay, that's all for tonight's presentation, we'll see 00:18:43.05\00:18:45.65 you all... Nah, I'm just kidding. 00:18:45.68\00:18:47.63 [Audience laughs] Now, I want you to jump up, 00:18:47.66\00:18:50.01 jump back up to the paragraph just above that subheading 00:18:50.04\00:18:52.62 where it says "Daniel 7", everyone see that? 00:18:52.65\00:18:55.19 Let's fill that in; Daniel 7 deals largely with political 00:18:55.22\00:18:57.99 kingdoms and political movements, Daniel 8 covers 00:18:58.02\00:19:00.57 basically the same time period, but primarily addresses 00:19:00.60\00:19:03.53 spiritual issues and spiritual battles. We'll be in Daniel 8 00:19:03.56\00:19:06.44 in just a moment. The beasts of Daniel 7 00:19:06.47\00:19:09.10 are preditory beasts, that's what you'd write in there. 00:19:09.13\00:19:12.34 Look at these beasts, you've got a lion, you've got a bear, 00:19:12.37\00:19:15.45 you've got a leopard, and some horrifically terrible beast 00:19:15.48\00:19:18.45 that was so, so bad, Daniel couldn't even describe it. 00:19:18.48\00:19:21.38 So the beasts of Daniel 7 were beasts of prey, or preditory 00:19:21.41\00:19:24.85 beasts. Now, what's going to happen 00:19:24.88\00:19:27.73 in just a few moments, we're going to go to Daniel 8, 00:19:27.76\00:19:31.24 but what we find in Daniel 8 is not leopards, and lions, 00:19:31.27\00:19:35.13 and bears, do you know what we find there? A ram and a goat. 00:19:35.16\00:19:38.99 That's what you'd write in there, it says the beasts of 00:19:39.02\00:19:41.81 Daniel 8 are clean beasts. 00:19:41.84\00:19:44.00 You might be saying "Did he say clean? Did he think that" 00:19:44.04\00:19:46.89 "they'd taken a bath?" We say clean, we mean 00:19:46.92\00:19:49.65 ritually, and ceremonialy clean in the mind of the Israelite. 00:19:49.68\00:19:52.69 They were clean beasts from the sanctuary service 00:19:52.72\00:19:57.29 designed to teach 2 very different things. 00:19:57.32\00:19:59.83 In Daniel 7 it's primarily political, but in Daniel 8 00:19:59.86\00:20:04.62 there's a shift to a more spiritual emphasis, and we'll 00:20:04.66\00:20:08.49 pick that up here in just a moment, in fact, I think 00:20:08.52\00:20:11.84 that's actually where we're going to go in just seconds. 00:20:11.87\00:20:15.59 Let's go to our second page. Now we've said this this 00:20:15.62\00:20:19.27 morning, but it bears repeating, there was a time when being 00:20:19.30\00:20:22.44 a Christian meant something. There was a time when it meant 00:20:22.47\00:20:25.39 more than having the little fish on the back of your car, 00:20:25.42\00:20:28.31 there was a time when being a Christian meant being more 00:20:28.34\00:20:31.18 that having the T-shirt, there was a time when being 00:20:31.21\00:20:33.98 a Christian meant more than just going to church, there was 00:20:34.01\00:20:36.68 a time when if you took a stand for Jesus, you took 00:20:36.71\00:20:39.39 a stand for His Word, that'd be the last thing you ever 00:20:39.42\00:20:42.19 did, are we clear on that? Beloved, there was a time 00:20:42.22\00:20:44.92 called the Dark Ages where all you had to do as a Christian 00:20:44.95\00:20:47.69 was walk up to an idol, or to some sort of a statue, 00:20:47.72\00:20:50.65 perhaps of the Roman Emperor and take a little pinch 00:20:50.68\00:20:53.57 of incense and just drop it before that thing, and walk 00:20:53.60\00:20:56.46 away, and you were fine, and Christians said "No," 00:20:56.49\00:20:59.01 "I can't do that", and they would be killed and slaughtered, 00:20:59.04\00:21:02.19 and put into the Colosseum to be torn apart by angry lions 00:21:02.22\00:21:05.44 and other beasts just because they refused to capitulate 00:21:05.47\00:21:08.69 on 1 of God's commandments. There was a time when saying 00:21:08.72\00:21:11.87 you were a Christian meant more than it means for many people 00:21:11.90\00:21:14.73 today, [Audience] Amen. 00:21:14.76\00:21:17.15 ...during that period of the Dark Ages. 00:21:17.19\00:21:19.73 That was a terrific, amazing time, when people had to be 00:21:19.76\00:21:22.52 very courageous, very bold, to stand for truth. 00:21:22.55\00:21:25.45 We talked about this this morning, Martin Luther stood 00:21:25.48\00:21:28.24 before the Council of Worms, April 17, 1521, and he said 00:21:28.27\00:21:31.02 "Listen, if you can demonstrate to me by the Scriptures," 00:21:31.05\00:21:33.77 "or according just to plain reason, I will recant," 00:21:33.80\00:21:36.49 "but if you can't, I can't step down, it's neither safe," 00:21:36.52\00:21:39.70 "nor wise, to go against my conscience, here I stand," 00:21:39.73\00:21:42.88 "God help me." Powerful. 00:21:42.91\00:21:45.52 Martin Luther walked right out of there with absolute 00:21:45.56\00:21:48.27 confidence in God, and some people thought that was the last 00:21:48.30\00:21:50.97 thing he was ever going to do, and Martin Luther died 00:21:51.00\00:21:54.61 of old age, very interesting. Now go to Daniel 8. 00:21:54.64\00:21:58.19 Daniel 8 and the little horn's attack on God's people, 00:21:58.22\00:22:01.33 we're at the top of page 2 on your study guide. 00:22:01.36\00:22:05.41 In Daniel 8 the focus is clearly spiritual in nature, 00:22:05.45\00:22:09.01 it addresses the spiritual attack made by the little 00:22:09.04\00:22:12.40 horn on God and His people. Now we're just going to read 00:22:12.43\00:22:15.68 through, beginning in Daniel, quite a little bit of this 00:22:15.71\00:22:18.93 vision so you can see just how simple it is. 00:22:18.96\00:22:26.31 Daniel 8:1: "In the 3rd year of the reign of King Belshazzar" 00:22:26.35\00:22:30.08 "a vision appeared to me, to me Daniel, after the one" 00:22:30.11\00:22:33.00 "that appeared to me the first time", so he says 00:22:33.03\00:22:35.60 "I got this vision after the 1 in Daniel 7", verse 2: 00:22:35.63\00:22:38.73 "I saw in vision, and it so happened that while I was" 00:22:38.76\00:22:41.80 "looking I was in Shushan the citadel which is in" 00:22:41.83\00:22:44.80 "the province of Elam; and I saw in the vision that I" 00:22:44.83\00:22:47.50 "was by the River Ulai", he's telling you the circumstances, 00:22:47.53\00:22:50.35 the surroundings of when he received the vision. 00:22:50.38\00:22:53.00 Verse 3: "Then I lifted up my eyes and I saw there," 00:22:53.03\00:22:55.61 "standing beside the river, there was a ram" 00:22:55.64\00:22:59.69 "which had 2 horns, and the 2 horns were high," 00:22:59.73\00:23:03.77 "but one was higher than the other, and the higher one" 00:23:03.81\00:23:07.92 "came up last." So here Daniel sees a ram, notice, a clean 00:23:07.95\00:23:12.04 beast, not a preditory beast. We could say "I wonder" 00:23:12.07\00:23:15.05 "what the ram is? Maybe it's China, maybe it's North Korea," 00:23:15.08\00:23:18.59 "who's the ram?" Well, we don't need to guess 00:23:18.62\00:23:21.34 and wonder, just stay there in Daniel 8, and jump down 00:23:21.37\00:23:24.19 to verse 20, Daniel 8:20, the angel comes and says 00:23:24.22\00:23:26.95 "Hey Daniel, let me tell you what the ram is." 00:23:26.98\00:23:29.64 Daniel 8:20: "The ram which you saw having the 2 horns," 00:23:29.67\00:23:34.21 "they are kings of Media and Persia", so the ram is 00:23:34.24\00:23:38.55 Medo-Persia, that's pretty easy isn't it? 00:23:38.58\00:23:41.67 The angel just says it, "the ram is Medo-Persia". 00:23:41.70\00:23:45.98 Now notice what happens next, we're now in verse 4: 00:23:46.01\00:23:50.28 "I saw the ram pushing", now pay very careful attention here, 00:23:50.32\00:23:53.43 verse 4, "I saw the ram pushing westward, northward," 00:23:53.46\00:23:57.45 "and southward", how many directions is that? 00:23:57.48\00:24:00.53 [Audience] Three. Three directions. 00:24:00.56\00:24:02.80 How many ribs did the bear have in his mouth? 00:24:02.83\00:24:05.61 [Audience] Three. You're getting it, all we're 00:24:05.64\00:24:08.36 doing is reviewing, different language, different pictures, 00:24:08.39\00:24:11.25 same history, history doesn't change, history's the same, 00:24:11.28\00:24:14.11 but God is using different emphases to bring out 00:24:14.14\00:24:16.71 different points and to really focus our attention on whatever 00:24:16.74\00:24:19.73 it is He has in mind at that moment. 00:24:19.76\00:24:22.12 So it says here the ram was pushing westward, northward, 00:24:22.15\00:24:25.05 and southward "so that no animal could withstand him," 00:24:25.08\00:24:28.11 "nor was there any that could deliver from his hand," 00:24:28.14\00:24:31.18 "but he did according to his will, and he became great." 00:24:31.21\00:24:34.19 Now, if you're in the habit of underlining in your Bible 00:24:34.22\00:24:37.12 I would circle "great", that's going to become impotant in just 00:24:37.15\00:24:40.56 a moment, let's say that together "the ram became great", 00:24:40.59\00:24:44.97 what's the next thing Daniel sees? Very simple vision, 00:24:45.00\00:24:49.38 verse 5: "As I was considering", what does considering mean? 00:24:49.41\00:24:53.06 "As I was thinking, suddenly", what does the word "suddenly" 00:24:53.09\00:24:56.71 mean? It means "quickly", 00:24:56.74\00:24:58.89 very rapidly, very quickly, "suddenly a male goat came" 00:24:58.93\00:25:02.94 "from the west across the surface of the whole earth" 00:25:02.98\00:25:06.82 "and it didn't even touch the ground, it had a notable" 00:25:06.86\00:25:10.09 "horn between its eyes, then he came to the ram that I had" 00:25:10.12\00:25:13.25 "seen with 2 horns, which was standing beside the river," 00:25:13.28\00:25:16.38 "and he ran into him with furious power." 00:25:16.41\00:25:19.80 Clearly this goat has issues. He's mad as a hornet, 00:25:19.84\00:25:23.33 he runs into the ram, and he thrashes it into oblivion. 00:25:23.36\00:25:26.19 Verse 7: "And I saw him confronting the ram, he was" 00:25:26.22\00:25:28.99 "moved with rage against him, he attacked the ram, he broke" 00:25:29.02\00:25:31.86 "his 2 horns, there was no power in the ram to withstand" 00:25:31.89\00:25:34.74 "him, but he cast him down to the ground, he trampled" 00:25:34.77\00:25:37.57 "on him, and there was no one that could deliver the ram" 00:25:37.60\00:25:40.36 "from his hand." Hmm, I wonder who the goat is. 00:25:40.39\00:25:43.21 Just based on what you know already, just based on simple 00:25:43.24\00:25:45.88 history and what we've seen on Daniel 2 and Daniel 7, 00:25:45.91\00:25:48.48 who was it that conquered Medo-Persia, who do you think 00:25:48.51\00:25:51.05 this goat might be? [Audience] Greece. 00:25:51.08\00:25:53.71 Look down at verse 21, same chapter, here it is: 00:25:53.74\00:25:56.72 "And the male goat is the kingdom of Greece", 00:25:56.75\00:25:59.66 so notice, the Bible interprets itself, is that clear everyone? 00:25:59.69\00:26:05.76 The kingdom of Greece and the large horn that is between 00:26:05.79\00:26:08.97 its eyes is the first king, and who was that? 00:26:09.00\00:26:12.06 Alexander the Great. So notice, we're going over 00:26:12.09\00:26:15.09 some of the same ground that we saw in Daniel 2, so we're here, 00:26:15.12\00:26:17.62 Medo-Persia to Greece, that we saw in Daniel 7, 00:26:17.65\00:26:20.31 Medo-Persia to Greece. By the way, remember, Greece 00:26:20.34\00:26:22.94 moved very rapidly, and what was that word we just saw there? 00:26:22.97\00:26:28.01 "Suddenly", so it's all the same, that's the great thing 00:26:28.04\00:26:31.33 about Bible prophecy, once you get 1 thing right, and then 00:26:31.36\00:26:34.25 you get 2 things right, and then you get 3 things right, 00:26:34.28\00:26:37.53 it just begins to cascade and it gets easier and easier, 00:26:37.56\00:26:40.77 but if you get 1 thing wrong, guess what happens, 00:26:40.80\00:26:44.15 you get everything else wrong. Think of it this way, 00:26:44.18\00:26:47.56 if you want to go due north 100 miles, how many steps 00:26:47.59\00:26:50.93 have to be due north? Every single step, 00:26:50.96\00:26:53.74 and what's the most important step? [Audience] First. 00:26:53.77\00:26:56.43 Your first step, that's right. So if you get the first 00:26:56.46\00:26:59.04 step right, it's easier to get the second step right, 00:26:59.07\00:27:01.75 and it's easier to get the 3rd and the 4th, but if we 00:27:01.78\00:27:04.44 make an error on that first step, we're bound to make 00:27:04.47\00:27:07.13 an error on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th down the line. 00:27:07.16\00:27:09.68 So far so good? So let's continue the vision. 00:27:09.71\00:27:12.17 Verse 8: "Therefore, the male goat grew very great", 00:27:12.20\00:27:18.60 the ram was great, but the male goat is very great. 00:27:18.63\00:27:25.02 Do you see an increase in power? 00:27:25.05\00:27:27.73 So the ram is great, the male goat is very great, "but when" 00:27:27.76\00:27:31.00 "he became strong the large horn was broken", that's Alexander 00:27:31.03\00:27:34.24 the Great, "and in place of it four notable ones came up" 00:27:34.27\00:27:38.66 "toward the four winds of heaven". 00:27:38.69\00:27:41.33 What does that remind us of? The 4 heads of the leopard. 00:27:41.36\00:27:44.63 Are you beginning to see? Very simple. 00:27:44.66\00:27:47.00 4 notable ones come up. This is where things get 00:27:47.03\00:27:50.73 amazing, "and out of one of them came a little horn" 00:27:50.77\00:27:53.87 "which grew exceedingly towards the south, toward" 00:27:53.90\00:27:56.94 "the east and toward the glorious land." 00:27:56.97\00:27:59.82 Now this is where people say "whoa, whoa, slow down," 00:27:59.85\00:28:02.71 "we missed Rome, what happened to Rome?" 00:28:02.74\00:28:06.16 Did you think that? Because look at it, 00:28:06.20\00:28:09.62 we went from the ram, who was the ram? 00:28:09.65\00:28:13.02 Medo-Persia, and then we went to the goat, who's the goat? 00:28:13.06\00:28:16.54 Greece, and now we're at the little horn, the little horn 00:28:16.57\00:28:20.00 is papal Rome, hmmm, we're missing Pagan Rome. 00:28:20.03\00:28:24.13 No we're not, not at all because think of it this way, 00:28:24.17\00:28:29.66 in Daniel 2 here's Rome, the long legs of iron is Rome, 00:28:29.69\00:28:34.41 but what was down in the feet? Divided Rome, but what was 00:28:34.44\00:28:39.13 it made of? Iron and clay. 00:28:39.16\00:28:41.36 So notice this: Rome just changes, but still exists right 00:28:41.39\00:28:45.43 down to the very end, still Rome, but it just changes 00:28:45.46\00:28:49.43 and exists right down to the very end, think of this horrific 00:28:49.46\00:28:52.33 beast here, what's the 4th beast? 00:28:52.36\00:28:54.78 Rome, and then what grows out of Rome? 00:28:54.81\00:28:57.38 Those horns, so those horns continue to grow so Rome 00:28:57.41\00:29:01.25 continues, but it just takes on a different manifestation, 00:29:01.28\00:29:05.14 Rome transitioned from being primarily a civil power 00:29:05.17\00:29:09.24 to be an ecclesiastical power, or a spiritual power. 00:29:09.28\00:29:13.27 So you really have 2 distinct phases of Rome, you have 00:29:13.30\00:29:16.68 civil Rome, or if you prefer, Pagan Rome, and then 00:29:16.71\00:29:20.09 you have papal Rome, or if you prefer, spiritual Rome, 00:29:20.12\00:29:23.55 but both are Rome. Now look at this, Bible students 00:29:23.58\00:29:26.98 put your thinking caps on, look at verse 9. 00:29:27.01\00:29:29.16 It says: "And out of one of them came a little horn, which grew" 00:29:29.19\00:29:32.96 "exceedingly towards the south, towards the east, and towards" 00:29:32.99\00:29:36.73 "the glorious land". I want you to notice 00:29:36.76\00:29:39.28 that this little horn is moving in 3 directions, and it's all 00:29:39.31\00:29:43.36 on a horizontal plain, look at it again until you see it: 00:29:43.39\00:29:47.34 "towards the South, towards the east, and towards" 00:29:47.37\00:29:50.68 "the glorious land", so here the primary emphasis of 00:29:50.71\00:29:53.96 the little horn's conquests were along a horizontal plain, 00:29:53.99\00:29:58.10 these are political or military conquests, but watch what 00:29:58.13\00:30:03.07 happens in the next verse. Verse 10, it says: "and it grew" 00:30:03.10\00:30:08.88 "up to the host of heaven, and it cast down some of the host" 00:30:08.91\00:30:13.29 "and some of the stars to the ground and it trampled them." 00:30:13.32\00:30:17.61 So do you see the distinction there? 00:30:17.64\00:30:19.41 In the first verse he's moving on a horizontal plain, 00:30:19.44\00:30:23.36 in the next verse he's moving upward, even to heaven. 00:30:23.40\00:30:27.31 So that's what we find here. 00:30:27.34\00:30:31.11 Let's look at our next one. 00:30:33.01\00:30:35.89 Hallelujah, there we go! Medo-Persia, that's what we saw, 00:30:44.63\00:30:48.59 the ram, then Greece, then the little horn moving on 00:30:48.62\00:30:55.22 a terrestrial plain, that is a horizontal plain pushing 00:30:55.26\00:31:01.86 southward, pushing westward, and pushing towards the glorious 00:31:01.90\00:31:04.71 land, which was Jerusalem, pushing towards the Jewish 00:31:04.74\00:31:08.13 homeland. Then the next thing you see 00:31:08.16\00:31:10.75 is the little horn begins his attack, but now he's not moving 00:31:10.78\00:31:13.54 just on this plain, he's moving on the vertical plain, and he 00:31:13.57\00:31:16.33 begins to attack even heaven itself. 00:31:16.36\00:31:18.82 You say "wait a minute, how can he attack heaven itself?" 00:31:18.85\00:31:21.68 We're going to get to that in just a moment. 00:31:21.71\00:31:25.61 Let's continue this, this is so amazing, look at verse 11. 00:31:25.64\00:31:30.57 I know you're writing, so I'll give you just a little moment. 00:31:30.61\00:31:35.51 Daniel 8:11. The first word is "he". 00:31:35.54\00:31:42.83 "He is the little horn", I want you to notice what he does 00:31:42.87\00:31:46.57 in verse 11, it is absolutely audacious, verse 11: 00:31:46.60\00:31:50.85 "He even exulted himself as high as the Prince of the host." 00:31:50.89\00:31:58.56 Who's the Prince of the host? [Audience] Jesus. 00:31:58.59\00:32:01.43 Jesus Christ, do you see the vertical movements now? 00:32:01.46\00:32:04.71 So this little horn begins to vaunt himself even against 00:32:04.74\00:32:08.19 Jesus, "and by him the daily was taken away," 00:32:08.22\00:32:12.21 "and the place of his sanctuary was thrown down". 00:32:12.25\00:32:15.87 He begins a spiritual attack and begins to throw down 00:32:15.90\00:32:19.49 even the sanctuary of God. Look at verse 12: "Because of" 00:32:19.52\00:32:22.90 "the transgression, and army was given over to the horn" 00:32:22.93\00:32:26.25 "to oppose the daily sacrifices, and he cast truth to" 00:32:26.28\00:32:30.58 "the ground, he did all of this and he prospered." 00:32:30.61\00:32:34.54 Notice, this is a spiritual battle, listen beloved, he's 00:32:34.57\00:32:37.47 casting truth to the ground, he's making war with God's 00:32:37.50\00:32:40.34 people, he's making war with God's Son, he is throwing God's 00:32:40.37\00:32:43.38 sanctuary to the ground. That's a spiritual battle. 00:32:43.41\00:32:48.34 Now, already any Israelite, any Jew who was studying 00:32:48.37\00:32:52.18 His Scriptures would have already known that because 00:32:52.21\00:32:55.99 in the transition from Daniel 7 we go from these preditory, 00:32:56.02\00:33:00.02 unclean beasts to Daniel 8, and we're dealing with 00:33:00.05\00:33:02.80 sanctuary beasts, rams and goats. 00:33:02.83\00:33:06.66 So anyone's going to immediately notice: "Oh, this is dealing" 00:33:06.70\00:33:09.74 "more with spiritual issues, not political machinations" 00:33:09.77\00:33:13.46 "primarily." This gets amazing, 00:33:13.49\00:33:16.45 you're there at the top of page 2, it says: 00:33:16.49\00:33:20.22 List the 4 things that the little horn of Daniel 8 00:33:20.26\00:33:22.98 attacks. #1- he attacks God's people. 00:33:23.01\00:33:31.80 Let's just look at a couple of those verses, you can write 00:33:31.84\00:33:34.64 these verses down, look at verse 24. 00:33:34.67\00:33:39.55 It says "His power shall be mighty, but not by his own" 00:33:39.59\00:33:43.11 "power, he shall destroy fearfully and he shall prosper" 00:33:43.14\00:33:46.87 "and thrive, and he shall destroy the mighty and also" 00:33:46.90\00:33:50.44 "the holy people." So here we see this little horn 00:33:50.47\00:33:53.95 making war against God's people. We saw that already, look at 00:33:53.98\00:33:58.34 verse 13: "then I heard a holy one speaking, and another" 00:33:58.37\00:34:01.85 "holy one said to that certain one who was speaking," 00:34:01.88\00:34:05.03 "How long will be the vision concerning the daily" 00:34:05.06\00:34:07.99 "sacrifices and the transgression of desolation," 00:34:08.02\00:34:11.34 "and the giving of both the sanctuary and the host" 00:34:11.38\00:34:14.70 "to be trampled underfoot?" "How long is this little rascal" 00:34:14.73\00:34:19.33 "going to make war with God's people, and thrash them?" 00:34:19.36\00:34:22.87 that's basically what's happening. 00:34:22.90\00:34:25.62 So #1- he makes war with God's people; #2- he makes war 00:34:25.65\00:34:29.19 with God's Son. We already saw that didn't we? 00:34:29.22\00:34:32.56 He exalts himself in verse 11 against the Prince of the host. 00:34:32.59\00:34:39.36 Then look at verse 25, as if that's not enough, 00:34:39.39\00:34:43.35 speaking of this Antichristian power: "Through his cunning" 00:34:43.38\00:34:46.37 "he shall cause deceit to prosper under his rule," 00:34:46.40\00:34:49.57 "he shall exalt himself in his heart, he shall destroy many" 00:34:49.60\00:34:53.97 "in their prosperity,", and look at this: "he shall even rise" 00:34:54.00\00:34:58.36 "against the Prince of princes, but he shall be broken" 00:34:58.39\00:35:02.81 "without human means." Who is the Prince of peace? 00:35:02.84\00:35:05.98 Jesus Christ. Who's King of kings, and Lord 00:35:06.01\00:35:08.68 of lords? So who would be the Prince of princes? 00:35:08.71\00:35:11.47 Jesus Christ, and that's what Daniel is saying here, 00:35:11.50\00:35:14.27 the angel's explaining the vision to Daniel, and Daniel 00:35:14.30\00:35:17.07 can hardly believe it, he sees this little horn destroying 00:35:17.10\00:35:19.81 God's people and then he begins to make war even with Jesus. 00:35:19.84\00:35:22.62 So how would you ever make war with Jesus? 00:35:22.65\00:35:25.25 I mean, does he just transport up into heaven and get into an 00:35:25.28\00:35:28.12 arm wrestling match with Jesus? No, you begin to obscure 00:35:28.15\00:35:30.94 the place of Jesus, you set up your own sacrifices by taking 00:35:30.97\00:35:33.74 away from the sacrifice of Jesus, you set up your own 00:35:33.77\00:35:36.53 priesthood by taking away from the priesthood of Jesus, 00:35:36.56\00:35:39.27 you set up your own sanctuary and temple by taking away 00:35:39.30\00:35:42.02 from the sanctuary and temple of Jesus, so the mind's 00:35:42.05\00:35:44.84 of people in the Dark Ages, particularly when they didn't 00:35:44.87\00:35:47.67 have the Bible, and the only show in town basically says 00:35:47.70\00:35:50.47 "You want forgiveness? You come to our priest." 00:35:50.50\00:35:53.03 "You want a sacrifice? You come to our mass." 00:35:53.06\00:35:55.53 "You want a temple? You come to our sanctuary." 00:35:55.56\00:35:57.97 The only show in town is basically obscuring the person 00:35:58.00\00:36:01.14 of Jesus and in doing that, they are making war with the real 00:36:01.17\00:36:05.00 Jesus, is that clear everyone? The people didn't have their 00:36:05.03\00:36:08.46 Bibles, they didn't know that the Bible says there's only 00:36:08.49\00:36:11.59 1 mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus, 00:36:11.62\00:36:14.66 they didn't know all of this, so the priest says this, 00:36:14.69\00:36:17.38 and the cardinal says this, and the prelate says this, 00:36:17.41\00:36:20.07 and the Pope says this, it was the Dark Ages. 00:36:20.10\00:36:25.14 So this power makes war with God's people, and it makes 00:36:25.18\00:36:28.53 war with God's Son, and look at verse 12 again, it says 00:36:28.56\00:36:31.89 in verse 12 "he even cast truth to the ground". 00:36:31.92\00:36:35.10 So #3- he makes war with God's truth. 00:36:35.13\00:36:38.23 Clearly this is a spiritual battle. 00:36:40.73\00:36:45.74 Then #4- he makes war with God's sanctuary, God's temple. 00:36:45.78\00:36:49.84 We already read it, but look at verse 13 again, it says: 00:36:49.87\00:36:53.85 "how long will the sanctuary and the host be trampled" 00:36:53.88\00:36:57.80 "underfoot?" So Daniel's seeing all of this 00:36:57.83\00:37:00.60 in vision, let's go back and review it so we can see it. 00:37:00.63\00:37:03.77 Daniel sees Medo-Persia, that's fine, he sees the ram, 00:37:03.80\00:37:06.66 and then he sees Greece, that's fine, he sees the goat, 00:37:06.69\00:37:09.48 and then he begins to see this little horn power come up that 00:37:09.51\00:37:12.25 moves on a horizontal plain, that's what we would call 00:37:12.28\00:37:14.99 Pagan Rome, but then that thing is not satisfied moving on 00:37:15.02\00:37:17.68 a horizontal plain and it begins to move on a vertical plain, 00:37:17.71\00:37:20.34 and begins to make war with God, with God's people, with God's 00:37:20.37\00:37:22.96 truth, with God's Son, with God's sanctuary, begins 00:37:22.99\00:37:26.35 to make a spiritual warfare against God. 00:37:26.38\00:37:31.74 Daniel's watching all of this in vision, and he overhears 00:37:31.78\00:37:35.69 a discussion, a conversation between 2 angels, that's 00:37:35.72\00:37:39.54 verses 13 and 14, here it is, "then I heard", Daniel speaking, 00:37:39.57\00:37:43.98 "a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to that" 00:37:44.01\00:37:46.75 "certain one", so now Daniel's listening in on a heavenly 00:37:46.78\00:37:49.43 conversation, "and one say, How long will the vision concerning" 00:37:49.46\00:37:53.59 "the daily sacrifices and the transgression of desolation" 00:37:53.62\00:37:56.58 "to give the sanctuary and the host to be trampled underfoot?" 00:37:56.61\00:37:59.53 In other words, one is saying "How long is this garbage" 00:37:59.56\00:38:01.84 "going to go one? Really! How long is God going" 00:38:01.87\00:38:06.55 "to tolerate this?" The answer's in verse 14: 00:38:06.59\00:38:11.27 [text on screen] 00:38:11.30\00:38:15.93 That is the longest time prophecy in all of the Bible, 00:38:19.93\00:38:23.64 you just read it. How many days was it? 00:38:23.67\00:38:26.18 2300 days. Notice that that time period, 00:38:26.21\00:38:28.66 2300 days is in direct response to the question "how long" 00:38:28.69\00:38:32.59 "is this going to go on?" "Oh, 2300 days." 00:38:32.62\00:38:39.38 Right there, you're on page 2, let's take a look at it, 00:38:39.42\00:38:42.90 by the way, you will need this for tomorrow night, 00:38:42.93\00:38:45.71 we are not going to make it through all of this, so this 00:38:45.74\00:38:48.60 is your lesson for tonight, and on Monday night, so be sure 00:38:48.63\00:38:51.46 to not lose this one. The longest time prophecy in 00:38:51.49\00:38:54.11 the Bible is found in Daniel 8:14. 00:38:54.14\00:38:56.55 It deals with a time period stretching from the time 00:38:56.58\00:38:59.69 of Daniel all the way down to the last days, that's what you'd 00:38:59.72\00:39:07.69 write in there. Remember that a day in end time 00:39:07.72\00:39:11.98 Bible prophecy equals a year in literal time, that's absolutely 00:39:12.02\00:39:18.25 essential, we've given you 2 verses there: Ezekiel 4:6, 00:39:18.28\00:39:22.19 Numbers 14:34. Even right there in the immediate context 00:39:22.22\00:39:26.16 of Daniel 8 it is clear that the days of the 2300 prophecy 00:39:26.19\00:39:30.14 could not be literal 24 hour days, consider that 2300 00:39:30.17\00:39:33.56 literal days would reach a mere 7 years into the future, 00:39:33.59\00:39:36.76 yet the angel Gabriel, who came to interpret the vision for 00:39:36.79\00:39:39.91 Daniel made it clear that the vision pertained to the time 00:39:39.94\00:39:43.04 of the end. You're still there in your 00:39:43.07\00:39:45.66 Bibles, pick up your Bible, look at Daniel 8:15, 00:39:45.69\00:39:55.14 this is Gabriel, Gabriel comes to explain the vision, verse 15: 00:39:55.18\00:39:58.53 "Then it happened, when I, Daniel, had seen the vision" 00:39:58.56\00:40:01.28 "I was seeking the meaning, and suddenly there stood" 00:40:01.31\00:40:04.00 "before me one having the appearance of a man." 00:40:04.03\00:40:06.70 Boom, this figure stands before Daniel, verse 16: 00:40:06.73\00:40:09.33 "And I heard a man's voice between the banks of the Ulai," 00:40:09.36\00:40:12.12 "who called, and said," [David lowers his voice], "Gabriel," 00:40:12.15\00:40:14.89 "make this man... ", Oh, that sounds good with my voice low, 00:40:14.92\00:40:17.63 "Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision." 00:40:17.66\00:40:20.18 "So he, Gabriel, came near where I stood and when he came" 00:40:20.21\00:40:23.09 "I was afraid and fell on my face. But he said to me," 00:40:23.12\00:40:26.05 "Understand, son of man," that's speaking to Daniel, 00:40:26.08\00:40:28.91 Gabriel's speaking to Daniel, he's come to explain 00:40:28.94\00:40:31.70 the vision, "Understand, son of man, that the vision refers" 00:40:31.73\00:40:35.30 "to the time of the end." So Daniel's sitting there 00:40:35.33\00:40:41.69 absolutely flabbergasted about this vision, Gabriel comes down 00:40:41.73\00:40:45.80 and says "Daniel, understand something, the vision pertains" 00:40:45.83\00:40:49.78 "to the time of the end." Daniel lived 600 years before 00:40:49.81\00:40:54.83 the time of Jesus, 2300 literal days would reach a whopping 00:40:54.86\00:40:59.15 7 years into the future, is that anywhere near the time 00:40:59.18\00:41:03.44 of the end? No, so you have internal 00:41:03.47\00:41:06.90 evidence that these 2300 days are not literal days, 00:41:06.94\00:41:10.42 but in prophecy, just as water represents peoples, multitudes, 00:41:10.45\00:41:15.17 nations and languages, and what does a beast represent 00:41:15.20\00:41:17.65 in Bible prophecy, a kingdom, or a nation, what does a horn 00:41:17.68\00:41:20.99 represent? A power, that's exactly right. 00:41:21.02\00:41:23.87 What does a woman represent? A church. 00:41:23.90\00:41:26.69 Okay, what does a prophetic day represent? 00:41:26.72\00:41:29.51 A year, so it's all symbolic. You have internal evidence 00:41:29.54\00:41:32.52 right there, Gabriel shows up and he says "Hey listen," 00:41:32.55\00:41:35.47 "the vision has to do with the end of time, the last days." 00:41:35.50\00:41:38.86 Look at verse 26 of the same chapter, Gabriel still speaking, 00:41:38.89\00:41:42.20 by the way, this isn't David Asscherick speaking, this is 00:41:42.23\00:41:45.48 Gabriel speaking to Daniel, Gabriel says: "And the vision" 00:41:45.51\00:41:48.58 "of the evenings and mornings, which was told is true," 00:41:48.61\00:41:51.62 "therefore seal up the vision, for it refers", my Bible says, 00:41:51.65\00:41:56.47 "to many days in the future." Do you all see that? 00:41:56.50\00:42:00.58 Many days; is 7 years many days in the future? 00:42:00.61\00:42:04.66 Not at all, he says "Many. Seal this vision up Daniel", 00:42:04.70\00:42:08.33 why was he told to seal it up? Because primarily it didn't 00:42:08.36\00:42:11.94 pertain to his time. "Seal it up Daniel," 00:42:11.97\00:42:14.63 this vision has to do with people living down at the end 00:42:14.66\00:42:17.51 of time. In fact, I can't resist, 00:42:17.54\00:42:20.86 go to Daniel 12, I just can't resist, so you're going to have 00:42:20.90\00:42:24.54 to forgive me. Daniel 12, look at this, verse 4. 00:42:24.57\00:42:33.09 Daniel 12:4: "But you, Daniel, shut up the words and seal" 00:42:33.13\00:42:40.28 "the book until the time of the end, many will run to and fro" 00:42:40.31\00:42:45.93 "and knowledge will increase." God says "Daniel, seal the book" 00:42:45.96\00:42:51.55 "and it will be unsealed at the end of time." 00:42:51.58\00:42:55.00 Why? Let's think about that for just a moment, 00:42:55.03\00:42:57.87 is God being arbitrary, is God saying "Nanny-nanny-boo-boo," 00:42:57.90\00:43:00.74 "I know it and you don't!" No, think about it. 00:43:00.77\00:43:04.15 Daniel lived 600 years before the time of Jesus. 00:43:04.18\00:43:07.50 Why can we understand the prophecies of Daniel today? 00:43:07.53\00:43:10.46 Because we live in a place where we can look back 00:43:10.49\00:43:13.36 through history and see its fulfillment, that was a luxury 00:43:13.39\00:43:16.77 not afforded Daniel, Daniel lived 600 years before the time 00:43:16.80\00:43:19.94 of Jesus, here we live 2000 years after the time of Jesus, 00:43:19.97\00:43:22.99 so we can look back and say "Oh yeah, there was Babylon," 00:43:23.02\00:43:25.93 "yep, saw it; Medo-persia, yep; Greece, yep; Rome, yep;" 00:43:25.96\00:43:28.81 "Rome divided, yep; little horn." We can see it from where 00:43:28.84\00:43:31.65 we're standing in history. So the sealing of Daniel's 00:43:31.68\00:43:34.42 prophecy until the time of the end was not God arbitrarily 00:43:34.45\00:43:37.15 saying "Well you know, just at the end of time", it was God 00:43:37.18\00:43:40.18 saying "People won't really be able to grasp the significance" 00:43:40.21\00:43:43.16 "of these prophecies until they have the historical landscape" 00:43:43.19\00:43:47.97 "to look back over and say, Wow, it fits exactly as God said." 00:43:48.00\00:43:52.77 And that's basically what Gabriel says when he comes 00:43:52.80\00:43:55.74 down, he says "Hey Daniel, seal it up until the time" 00:43:55.77\00:43:58.64 "of the end because this vision has to do with many" 00:43:58.67\00:44:01.51 "days in the future." That's how we know that 00:44:01.54\00:44:04.41 those 2300 days can't be literal days, impossible. 00:44:04.44\00:44:10.64 There's internal evidence right there. 00:44:10.67\00:44:13.14 Now, you're still there, 2nd page, the paragraph 00:44:13.17\00:44:15.95 that says "According... ". According to the last verse 00:44:15.98\00:44:19.07 of this chapter, Daniel was astonished at the vision, 00:44:19.10\00:44:22.12 but he did not understand it. In fact, let's look at that, 00:44:22.15\00:44:24.31 Daniel 8, look at the very last verse of Daniel 8, 00:44:24.34\00:44:28.36 verse 27: "And I, Daniel, fainted and I was sick for" 00:44:28.40\00:44:31.86 "days; afterward I arose, and I went about the king's" 00:44:31.89\00:44:36.24 "business, and I was astonished by the vision, but no one" 00:44:36.28\00:44:40.63 "understood it." Okay, just a question 00:44:40.66\00:44:43.31 for you here, does Daniel understand the vision? 00:44:43.34\00:44:45.97 No. Now, he must have understood some of it because the angel 00:44:46.00\00:44:48.85 told him, the ram is Medo-Persia, Daniel wasn't 00:44:48.88\00:44:52.20 stupid, he would have known that, and the goat was Greece. 00:44:52.23\00:44:57.49 So he would have understood some of it, but he didn't 00:44:57.52\00:45:00.43 understand all of it. He says "hey, at the end" 00:45:00.46\00:45:03.15 "of the thing I was astonished, in fact, I was so crushed" 00:45:03.18\00:45:05.95 "by what I saw that little horn doing to God's people," 00:45:05.98\00:45:08.72 "God's truth, God's sanctuary, and God's Son", he says 00:45:08.75\00:45:11.45 "I fainted." Remember beloved, Daniel wasn't 00:45:11.48\00:45:14.20 at the cinema, Daniel wasn't at the movies, Daniel was seeing 00:45:14.23\00:45:17.43 a real power, making a real war against real people, 00:45:17.46\00:45:21.74 historians tell us that between 50-100 million martyrs gave 00:45:21.78\00:45:26.34 their lives for no greater crime than wanting to know 00:45:26.37\00:45:30.18 and live by this Word Just imagine seeing that 00:45:30.21\00:45:33.87 in vision. Daniel was crushed. 00:45:33.90\00:45:37.69 He was devastated, that's why when he listened in 00:45:37.73\00:45:40.45 on that conversation, one angel said "how long is this" 00:45:40.48\00:45:43.32 "going to go on? Really! How long is this going to go on" 00:45:43.35\00:45:46.54 "and God's going to allow His sanctuary, and His host," 00:45:46.57\00:45:49.72 "and His truth, and His Son to be trampled underfoot" 00:45:49.75\00:45:52.86 "by this rampaging little horn power?" 00:45:52.89\00:45:55.44 He said "Hey listen, this isn't going to go on forever," 00:45:55.47\00:45:58.26 "2300 days, tough it out, and then the sanctuary will be" 00:45:58.29\00:46:01.05 "cleansed." Does the vision make sense 00:46:01.08\00:46:03.91 at least broadly, yes or no? It's actually quite a simple 00:46:03.94\00:46:07.15 vision, so let's continue. So we're right there on that 00:46:07.18\00:46:10.36 same paragraph:...he even fainted. Why was he so 00:46:10.39\00:46:13.79 troubled after all? The answer is quite simple: Daniel has just 00:46:13.82\00:46:16.65 seen in vision that this little horn would wage a very 00:46:16.68\00:46:21.61 effective war against God, His truth, and His people, 00:46:21.64\00:46:25.79 and that it would last for a very long period of time, 00:46:25.83\00:46:29.95 more than 1000 years. Daniel had already seen his 00:46:29.98\00:46:33.44 own beloved city, Jerusalem, sacked by the armies of Babylon, 00:46:33.47\00:46:36.58 and now in vision he sees even more trouble and calamities 00:46:36.61\00:46:39.69 for God's people. This was serious stuff 00:46:39.72\00:46:42.50 for Daniel, this was no Hollywood movie. 00:46:42.53\00:46:45.24 Daniel was visibly shaken, he says "I fainted." 00:46:45.27\00:46:51.47 So there we go, the accusations of the little horn, bottom 00:46:51.51\00:46:54.40 of that page. The kangaroo courts and trials 00:46:54.43\00:46:57.05 of the little horn, the Antichrist, stand in direct 00:46:57.08\00:47:00.43 opposition and contradiction to the findings of God's 00:47:00.46\00:47:03.78 heavenly court. These false trials actually 00:47:03.81\00:47:06.53 found God's people guilty of blasphemy, what a mockery! 00:47:06.56\00:47:12.77 Now here is an important point: The judgment of Daniel 7 00:47:12.80\00:47:19.00 and the cleansing of the sanctuary in Daniel 8 00:47:19.03\00:47:22.80 are synonymous events, they're the same event. 00:47:22.84\00:47:25.90 That is, they describe the same thing, in order to 00:47:25.93\00:47:28.90 understand this we must turn our attention to the Israelite 00:47:28.93\00:47:31.78 sanctuary; but before we do that, I want to be sure 00:47:31.81\00:47:34.46 this is crystal clear. Let's review. 00:47:34.49\00:47:37.02 You might think "Oh, we're reviewing again... " 00:47:37.05\00:47:39.75 We're going to review, and I'll tell you why. 00:47:39.78\00:47:42.41 Okay, let's go, what was the sequence that we saw 3 times 00:47:42.44\00:47:45.19 in Daniel 7? Rome, little horn, judgment. 00:47:45.22\00:47:47.67 Clear on that everyone? 3 times: Rome, little horn, 00:47:47.70\00:47:51.39 judgment, and remember, judgment was given in favor 00:47:51.42\00:47:55.10 of whom? [Audience] Saints. 00:47:55.13\00:47:58.45 Why? Let's try to wrap our fingers 00:47:58.48\00:48:01.73 around this historically, this Antichristian power is 00:48:01.77\00:48:06.38 arraigning God's people before these kangaroo courts 00:48:06.41\00:48:10.85 of prelates, and pontiffs, and cardinals, and priests, 00:48:10.89\00:48:15.26 and charging them with blasphemy because they wanted to know 00:48:15.30\00:48:20.22 the Bible, because they wanted to follow Jesus, 00:48:20.25\00:48:22.82 because they didn't want to have to go along with all 00:48:22.85\00:48:25.47 of the traditions and accoutrements of the church, 00:48:25.50\00:48:28.06 and they would stand there in their mighty regalia, looking 00:48:28.09\00:48:30.95 down at these cowering individuals before them 00:48:30.98\00:48:33.45 who just wanted to serve the Lord, and they would burn 00:48:33.48\00:48:36.45 them at the stake, or throw them to the lions, 00:48:36.48\00:48:39.01 and say "Guilty of blasphemy", and on many occasions 00:48:39.04\00:48:41.76 you can read it, it's all history, they would take caps 00:48:41.79\00:48:44.45 and put these dunce cap looking things on them as they burned 00:48:44.48\00:48:47.29 them that would say "Heretic", and "Blasphemer", and these 00:48:47.32\00:48:50.48 were the true people of God, and they would call these 00:48:50.51\00:48:53.83 great councils together to basically condemn God's people. 00:48:53.86\00:48:57.14 And God looks down and says "No". 00:48:57.17\00:48:59.69 Now step into their mind, from their mindset this church was 00:48:59.73\00:49:03.18 the only church in town, it was the only show in town. 00:49:03.21\00:49:06.78 From their perspective, when the prelate said, or the bishop 00:49:06.81\00:49:09.84 said, or the Pope said, or the cardinal said "Hey listen," 00:49:09.87\00:49:12.81 "you're excommunicated", from their perspective, without 00:49:12.84\00:49:15.70 having the Bible - we take the Bible so for granted, 00:49:15.73\00:49:18.53 from their perspective they're eternally lost, they're going 00:49:18.56\00:49:21.41 throughout the ceaseless eternal ages in the fires of hell 00:49:21.44\00:49:24.29 because some man said so. These people were literally 00:49:24.32\00:49:28.03 living in the most terrible darkness, that's why we call 00:49:28.06\00:49:31.74 it the Dark Ages. So the people of God were 00:49:31.77\00:49:35.29 being arraigned before these kangaroo courts, and God says: 00:49:35.32\00:49:40.15 "Enough, I'll call my own court to session", and that's why 00:49:40.18\00:49:45.00 we saw: Rome, little horn, the judgment was seated. 00:49:45.03\00:49:50.64 Why? Because of the pompous words 00:49:50.67\00:49:53.06 of the little horn, and because of the persecution of God's 00:49:53.09\00:49:55.94 people. God sets His own judgment 00:49:55.97\00:49:58.41 and says "I'm going to undo, I'm going to overturn" 00:49:58.44\00:50:01.20 "all of these kangaroo court judgments with the true," 00:50:01.23\00:50:03.96 "heavenly judgment, in favor of My people. " 00:50:03.99\00:50:08.68 That's the scene you've got to have in your mind, 00:50:08.72\00:50:11.62 and you know what the verdict of that is? 00:50:11.65\00:50:14.20 The verdict of that court is that everyone who puts 00:50:14.23\00:50:17.29 their faith in Jesus gets the kingdom of God. 00:50:17.32\00:50:20.95 [Audience] Amen. That's everyone of us, 00:50:20.98\00:50:23.78 that's why the judgment is not bad news for you, 00:50:23.81\00:50:26.61 if you've put your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Bible 00:50:26.64\00:50:29.56 teaches that Jesus is your advocate, that means He's 00:50:29.59\00:50:32.27 your lawyer and He's your judge, think of it, can you 00:50:32.30\00:50:34.95 have a better situation? Your defense lawyer is 00:50:34.98\00:50:37.73 your judge, that's a can't lose situation. 00:50:37.76\00:50:40.19 I'm looking across the room over here at one of my brothers 00:50:40.22\00:50:42.97 who's a lawyer, I'm looking at brother Cob, that's 00:50:43.00\00:50:45.68 a win/win situation isn't it brother Cob? 00:50:45.71\00:50:48.49 You can't lose. We think "oh the judgment," 00:50:48.52\00:50:51.23 "all of my deeds are going to come up", listen beloved, 00:50:51.26\00:50:54.13 do you know what's going to happen in the judgment? 00:50:54.16\00:50:57.14 God is going to hide the record of you pathetic life 00:50:57.17\00:51:00.42 in the perfect righteous life of the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:51:00.45\00:51:03.66 [Audience] Amen. That's what's going to happen 00:51:03.69\00:51:06.59 to you in the judgment, that's why you find David in 00:51:06.62\00:51:09.42 the Psalms, he's not saying "Oh, I'm so afraid of" 00:51:09.45\00:51:12.38 "the judgment, I could faint and die", he's saying: 00:51:12.41\00:51:15.48 "Oh Lord, judge Your people." Many times you find David 00:51:15.51\00:51:18.75 saying in the Psalms "judge me, O God", because he knew 00:51:18.78\00:51:22.04 he'd put his faith in a perfect God, and that perfect God 00:51:22.07\00:51:25.29 could handle his case. So God convenes His court 00:51:25.32\00:51:30.28 in direct opposition to the these Mickey Mouse courts 00:51:30.32\00:51:33.45 that were taking place down here on earth, and remember 00:51:33.48\00:51:36.44 again, all these people, as far as they were concerned, 00:51:36.47\00:51:39.36 they didn't have the Bible, they're looking up and thinking 00:51:39.39\00:51:42.21 "Oh, this is the church, these are the cardinals, these are" 00:51:42.24\00:51:45.00 "the priests, we must obey." Are you beginning to see this 00:51:45.03\00:51:47.76 in your mind? Very powerful! 00:51:47.79\00:51:52.17 I've only got 4 minutes left, so I'm a little reluctant 00:51:52.21\00:51:57.00 to advance, but we've got to do that just very quickly. 00:51:57.04\00:52:01.80 A heavenly model, you see there, there's 2 part: Part 1, Part 2. 00:52:01.84\00:52:05.80 A heavenly model and the divine drama of salvation. 00:52:05.83\00:52:08.62 Let's do this. The key, you see that there, 00:52:08.65\00:52:11.31 that's what you'd write in: The key that unlocks the judgment 00:52:11.34\00:52:14.99 is found in the Israelite sanctuary. 00:52:15.02\00:52:19.23 The key that unlocks the judgment is found in 00:52:19.27\00:52:23.42 the Israelite sanctuary. The cleansing of the sanctuary 00:52:23.46\00:52:28.38 was a day of judgment for Israel, symbolizing the final 00:52:28.41\00:52:33.30 judgment. So far so good? 00:52:33.33\00:52:37.39 The cleansing of the sanctuary took place on what's called 00:52:37.43\00:52:40.99 "The Day of Atonement". How many of you have heard 00:52:41.02\00:52:45.27 that before "The Day of Atonement"? 00:52:45.30\00:52:48.26 The word "atonement's" a very easy word to understand, 00:52:48.30\00:52:52.65 it divides neatly into 3 parts: "at", "one", "ment". 00:52:52.68\00:52:56.79 The Day of Atonement was the day when God was once again 00:52:56.82\00:53:00.90 at one with His people: The Day of Atonement. 00:53:00.93\00:53:06.76 Otherwise known as Yom Kippur, that's what you can write 00:53:06.80\00:53:09.70 in there, "Yom Kippur", the Day of Judgment. 00:53:09.73\00:53:12.36 In order to understand the day of atonement, we must 00:53:12.39\00:53:15.19 understand, at least in a basic sense, the purpose and drama 00:53:15.22\00:53:19.14 of the Israelite sanctuary. There were 2 main services 00:53:19.17\00:53:23.27 that were carried out in the sanctuary. 00:53:23.30\00:53:27.10 Certainly, there were many ceremonies and rituals, but they 00:53:27.14\00:53:29.97 can be roughly divided into 2 main categories: 00:53:30.00\00:53:32.69 the daily service and the yearly service. 00:53:32.72\00:53:35.02 How many services? Daily service and the yearly service. 00:53:35.05\00:53:39.47 The yearly service took place on the 10th day of the 7th month, 00:53:39.50\00:53:42.65 that was the Day of Atonement. Now this is basically how it 00:53:42.68\00:53:46.21 worked, and this would be a perfect place for us to stop: 00:53:46.24\00:53:49.74 there are basically 3 compartments to the Israelite 00:53:49.77\00:53:53.69 sanctuary. Very simple. 00:53:53.72\00:53:57.56 This is like if you were in a helicopter looking down on it, 00:53:57.60\00:54:01.19 so here's the 3 areas, #1 would be the courtyard, 00:54:01.22\00:54:04.11 in fact, you see see there at the bottom of this page, 00:54:04.14\00:54:06.83 I give you the opportunity to draw this out, I'd recommend 00:54:06.86\00:54:09.52 you do that. There, #1, that's the courtyard, 00:54:09.55\00:54:14.02 and that criss-cross grid represents the altar. 00:54:14.06\00:54:18.52 Just behind that, that blue circle represented the laver, 00:54:18.56\00:54:21.67 or the wash bin where the priests would wash themselves 00:54:21.70\00:54:24.75 before going in to the sanctuary, which is represented 00:54:24.78\00:54:28.65 by the black sections there. The sanctuary, this is where 00:54:28.68\00:54:32.54 you're actually entering a room, out here you're still in the out 00:54:32.57\00:54:35.56 of doors, but there, in 2 and 3 you're actually entering into 00:54:35.59\00:54:38.55 a room, and that room had 2 parts. 00:54:38.58\00:54:43.98 The first that you would step into was called 00:54:44.02\00:54:47.87 "The Holy Place". 00:54:47.90\00:54:51.55 And then in front of you there was a large curtain, 00:54:51.59\00:54:54.82 very heavy curtain, and on the other side of that curtain 00:54:54.85\00:54:57.38 was "The Most Holy Place". The Most Holy Place, 00:54:57.41\00:55:02.53 incidentally, was a perfect cube. 00:55:02.56\00:55:04.89 It was perfectly square on all sides; incidentally, 00:55:04.92\00:55:08.65 very interesting, when you go to Revelation 21 00:55:08.68\00:55:11.49 and 22, the New Jerusalem is a perfect cube. 00:55:11.52\00:55:14.23 You read it, it's just as wide as it is tall, as it is long, 00:55:14.26\00:55:18.17 representing the Most Holy Place of the heavenly sanctuary. 00:55:18.20\00:55:22.08 So, there was 3 parts: the courtyard, the Holy Place, 00:55:22.11\00:55:27.73 and the Most Holy Place. This pattern, this sanctuary 00:55:27.76\00:55:31.80 was not something that Moses made up, it wasn't something 00:55:31.84\00:55:35.36 that Aaron made up, it wasn't something the Israelites got 00:55:35.39\00:55:38.84 together and made up, God showed this to Moses. 00:55:38.87\00:55:44.69 In fact, that's what we're going to learn Monday; 00:55:44.73\00:55:50.55 this was a picture of the temple in heaven, 3 places: 00:55:50.59\00:55:56.04 the courtyard, the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place, 00:55:56.08\00:56:01.29 and the daily services centered around numbers 1 and 2, 00:56:01.32\00:56:06.70 but the yearly service, the Day of Atonement, or the Day of 00:56:06.73\00:56:12.08 Judgment centered around guess which number? 00:56:12.11\00:56:14.93 - [Audience] Three. - Number three, you've got it. 00:56:14.96\00:56:17.78 What we're going to discover in our next 2 lessons, 00:56:17.81\00:56:20.60 I praise the Lord Jesus, we've made good time tonight, 00:56:20.63\00:56:23.38 what we're going to discover in our next 2 lessons 00:56:23.41\00:56:26.09 is exactly how this sanctuary, what does that mean there 00:56:26.12\00:56:28.77 in Daniel 8:14: "the sanctuary will be cleansed"? 00:56:28.80\00:56:31.58 We're going to discover exactly what that means from 00:56:31.61\00:56:34.35 a Biblical perspective. By the way, I knew 00:56:34.38\00:56:39.15 that this was going to get caught right in the middle, 00:56:39.19\00:56:42.03 it's just way too much information to present in 00:56:42.06\00:56:44.48 a single, I actually did it one time and it took me 2 and half 00:56:44.51\00:56:47.38 hours, we're not going to even try that. 00:56:47.41\00:56:49.88 But here's the 2 things I want to know, #1: tonight's 00:56:49.91\00:56:52.69 presentation, up to this point, do we at least broadly 00:56:52.72\00:56:55.47 feel clear about what we're looking at? 00:56:55.50\00:56:58.01 Pretty simple, all we've done is looked at Daniel 8 primarily. 00:56:58.04\00:57:00.92 Daniel 8 is just a recapitulation of Daniel 7; 00:57:00.95\00:57:03.66 Medo-Persia, Greece, little horn, judgment; 00:57:03.69\00:57:06.34 pretty simple, and then we're ending by looking at these 00:57:06.37\00:57:09.27 3 elements: courtyard, Holy Place, Most Holy Place. 00:57:09.30\00:57:16.18 Let me tell you, our next message is entitled, 00:57:16.21\00:57:18.95 not tomorrow night, but the following night, it's entitled 00:57:18.98\00:57:21.89 "Perfect Prophetic Proof of the Identity of Jesus". 00:57:21.92\00:57:25.82 If you've ever had anyone ever ask you, a skeptic, 00:57:25.86\00:57:29.76 or an unbeliever say to you "Well, how do you know Jesus" 00:57:29.79\00:57:32.69 "is the guy?" I will give you rock solid 00:57:32.72\00:57:36.32 prophetic proof that unmistakably points to Jesus 00:57:36.36\00:57:41.63 of Nazareth as the only guy, as we look at this, 00:57:41.66\00:57:46.87 a powerful prophecy, you're just going to go "Whoa! Praise God" 00:57:46.90\00:57:50.53 "in heaven", you will have one of the most powerful quivers 00:57:50.56\00:57:54.07 in your arsenal to share with skeptics, with unbelievers, 00:57:54.10\00:57:57.55 and with Christians alike, that will root your faith and ground 00:57:57.58\00:58:01.38 your faith in the absolute, total truthfulness of God's 00:58:01.41\00:58:05.68 Word. 00:58:05.71\00:58:07.95
