that Moses had to do

the Pharisees and the Jews

they lack understanding

God of Abraham is.

They brought a woman who was
caught in the act of adultery

and they brought her to Jesus

and they said that
according to the Law of Moses,

she should be stoned to death.

And they were right,
according to the Law of Moses

she should be stoned to death.

But something else took place.

These priest and rabbis,
first of all were testing Jesus,

they were testing the Lord.

They were
hoping to discredit Him

or have Him arrested by Romans
at that time the Roman power.

They wanted Him
and His influence

over the people destroyed.

He threatened their position
and their lust for power.

Remember last week we
talked about how Satan,

his lust for power
is what caused his fall.

Here it is, we see the priest
and the rabbis of their day,

their lust for
power and they are feeling
00:04:53.04\00:04:55.74
threatened for their position.
00:04:55.77\00:04:58.02
They were going to
discredit the Lord.
00:04:58.05\00:05:01.04
So when they brought the
woman to him, they said to him,

she has to be stone
by the Law of Moses.

What was this going to do?
00:05:11.01\00:05:12.08
How was this
going to affect Jesus?

How was He gonna answer this?

You see, if he
declared her worth of death,

He would be
reported to the Roman power

as one who assumed authority
belonging only to them.

And if he acquitted the woman,

He might be charged with
despising the Law of Moses.

What was He going to do?

Well, here is what He did.

First of all when you
study it you would see that

Jesus had pity upon this woman
who was caught in the adultery.

He had pity upon her.

Let's look at what happened,

verses in the Injil

in the Book of John
8:3-7, 3-7 let me read that.

It says, "Then the
scribes and Pharisees

brought to Him a
woman caught in adultery.

And when they had set her
in the midst, they said to Him,

'Teacher, this woman was caught
in adultery, in the very act.

Now Moses, in
the law, commanded us

that such should be
stoned but what do You say?'

This they said, testing Him,
00:06:32.26\00:06:34.15
that they might have something
of which to accuse Him.

But Jesus stooped
down, He bent down

and He wrote on the
ground with His finger,

as though He did not hear them.

So when they
continued asking Him,

He raised Himself
up and said to them,

'He who is
without sin among you,

let him throw a
stone at her first."

All of the
woman's accusers left,

they dispersed,
they went their way.

No one could throw the
first stone, no one there.

And that is because they
knew that they had all sinned,

no one was without sin.

You see when-- I believe that

when Jesus stooped
downed to the ground

and He wrote in the
dust with His finger.

I believe He exposed the secrets

and the sins of
each person's lives

that were there
to stone this woman

that were there to condemn her.

Jesus then looked
up and asked the woman,

"Where are your accusers,

did anyone remain
that condemned you?"

And she said, "No Lord, no one."

His answer to her is
His answer to you and to me.

He said,
"Neither do I condemn you,

go and sin no more."

What a loving, forgiving God.

He did not condemn this woman,

He knew that behind the
sin was the fallen angel Satan.

He did not come to this world--

Jesus did not come
to this world to condemn

but to save and to
rescue from the destroyer.

The discussion between

the Jesus and the
Pharisees continued

It continued for quite a while.

They rejected Him
and His message to them,

they're not in
bondage and they don't sin

and it was surprising that they
thought they weren't in bondage

because they were under
the Roman power at that time,

they were under Roman rule.

So they were in
bondage to the Romans.

Jesus tried to
encourage them to seek truth

and if they find
truth they will be set free.

But they chose to
hold on to their traditions

and again if we go to the
same Chapter of John 8:33,

here is what it
says, "They answered Him,

''We are Abraham's descendants,

and have never been
in bondage to anyone.

How can you say,
You will be made free?"

They refused to see their
need for a sin pardoning Savior.
00:09:48.15\00:09:54.49
Even though
throughout their history

they practiced the
sacrificial offering,

the service in the tabernacle
when Moses built the tabernacle

and they had this
sacrificial service.

Even though their
ancestors have practiced

and they were still
practicing it in the temple.

They lost sightn
that, that whole service

was for the forgiveness of sins.

They were blind to the
full meaning of this practice.

They can see that they
continued to challenge Jesus.

We're gonna look
at three verses now,

Here is what it

Abraham, who is dead?

And the prophets are dead.
Who do You make Yourself to be?

Your father Abraham
rejoiced to see My day,

and he saw it and was glad."

Then the Jews said to Him,

''You are not
yet fifty years old,

and have You seen Abraham?'

And Jesus to them,
''Most assuredly, I say to you,

before Abraham was, I am."

There is that name again, I am.

Remember at the
Burning Bush when Moses says,

but who shall I tell
the Israelites sent me

and He says, "Tell
them I am sent you."

Here is Jesus saying
again, before Abraham was, I am.

Same God, same God in the Torah,

same God here in the Injil.

Here is Jesus telling the Jews
who again was challenging him.

"I am the one that was with you
and with the father's back then.

I am here now in human form
to help you like I did then."

But they were--their eyes
and their ears were stopped,

they just couldn't believe that
didn't want to believe that.

sisters, in the Torah

references to the God of Abraham

being the Son of
God, being Jesus Christ,

our Savior, yours and mine.

in the Torah we can
read the story about--

and again the Prophet Daniel

about his three friends,
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.

And they were
taken into captivity

when King Nebuchadnezzar raided

or I should say
attacked Jerusalem.

King Nebuchadnezzar,
and I'm sure you know

this was the king of Babylon
00:13:11.38\00:13:12.81
and he attacked
Jerusalem and conquered
00:13:12.84\00:13:15.17
and he took a lot of the
Jewish people at that time,
00:13:15.20\00:13:20.21
the Israelites back to Babylon.
00:13:20.24\00:13:23.99
Well these three
or four young men
00:13:24.02\00:13:26.54
and they were teenagers so
as young man they stood out.
00:13:26.57\00:13:29.26
That was Daniel,
the prophet Daniel
00:13:29.29\00:13:31.54
and his three friends.
00:13:31.57\00:13:33.85
But we gonna talk
about the three young men
00:13:33.88\00:13:37.12
Shadrach, Meshach
and Abednego, right now.
00:13:37.15\00:13:40.40
These men were
all, these young boys
00:13:40.43\00:13:44.11
were all very
faithful to the God of Abraham.
00:13:44.14\00:13:47.36
They refused to
worship any image.
00:13:47.39\00:13:51.42
The king wanted them to bow down
00:13:51.45\00:13:53.76
and worship a
gold image he had made.
00:13:53.79\00:13:57.42
And when they
refused the king ordered
00:13:57.45\00:14:00.37
that Shadrach,
Meshach and Abednego
00:14:00.40\00:14:04.02
be thrown into a fiery furnace.

Well, it wasn't just
the stand of fiery furnace,
00:14:07.44\00:14:10.98
it was the one they
used but the king ordered
00:14:11.01\00:14:15.67
that it would be heated
seven times harder than normal,
00:14:15.70\00:14:20.93
seven times harder than normal,
00:14:20.96\00:14:23.23
and then throw these
three young men into it.
00:14:23.26\00:14:28.23
Let's look at
Daniel 3:21, it says,
00:14:28.26\00:14:33.23
"Then these men were bound
in their coats, their trousers,
00:14:33.26\00:14:37.49
their turbans, and
their other garments,
00:14:37.52\00:14:40.35
and were cast into the midst
of the burning fiery furnace."
00:14:40.38\00:14:48.08
Because the furnace was so
hot at the command of the king
00:14:48.11\00:14:53.20
when the
servants took these boys,
00:14:53.23\00:14:58.54
theses three boys to
throw them into the furnace
00:14:58.57\00:15:02.23
they were killed because
the heat was so tremendous.

So the servants of
King Nebuchadnezzar

were actually killed.

But the boys at
that time weren't

and they were
thrown into the furnace.

Here we see how Satan wanted to
destroy theses three young men

because they were loyal and
faithful to the God of Abraham.

We see how he used
King Nebuchadnezzar

to carry out his purposes.

Always look behind the
person brothers and sisters,

Always look at
Satan behind the person.
00:15:41.35\00:15:46.14
But the living God
of Abraham intervened

on behalf of His followers,
His faithful young men.

In Daniel 3:24, 25,
here is what we can read.

It says, "Then King
Nebuchadnezzar was astonished,

and he rose in haste and
spoke, saying to his counselors,
00:16:03.82\00:16:08.64
"Did we not cast three men bound
into the midst of the fire?"
00:16:08.67\00:16:13.86
And they answered and said
to the king, "True, O king."

"Look!" he answered,
"I see four men loose,

walking in the midst of
the fire and they are not hurt,

and the form of the
fourth is like the Son of God."

This is a Prophet
Daniel writing this.

The Son of God, Jesus the Christ

earth yet as a baby.

Yet here is King Nebuchadnezzar

looking into that hot furnace

the three young
men were still alive

and then he sees it forth

that he
recognizes as the Son of God.

Now how would he
recognize the son of God?

Well, could it be
that in all the dreams

he were given by God that
Daniel interpreted for him?

Could it be that the Son of God

showed himself to
King Nebuchadnezzar?

this was the Son of God.

There is so much
proof that Christ,

existed prior to coming
to this earth as a baby.

in heaven to protect us

For by Him all things
were created that are in heaven

earth, visible and invisible,

whether thrones or dominions
or principalities or powers.

All things were created
through Him and for Him.

cannot emphasize this enough

Because Satan is determined
to destroy you and me,

the Son of the living God had
to pay the price for our sins,

so that we may have
eternal life with Him

deserve it, we don't deserve it.

Here is what the holy
book tells us in Romans 6:23.

"For the wages of sin is death,

God is eternal life

There is no reason that
can be given for sin, none.

trying to explain it.

We can try to
give a reason for it

It is mysterious to us,

The only understanding of

Through this example
Christ was showing us

that we are never alone

even at the hot fiery
furnace we're never alone.

Whatever the circumstances,

there right beside us.

It was the sin of adultery

that almost took the life
of the woman by the Pharisees,

it was the love
of Christ for her

from the death penalty.

But he told her,

He did not justify her actions

but He showed her
His amazing grace.

but eventually she
overcame by the power
