We have been engaged in a series of 00:01:08.70\00:01:12.77 talks of God's divine design in childbirth. 00:01:12.80\00:01:17.27 Today, I'm going to talk about the eight laws of prenatal 00:01:17.31\00:01:21.14 health, that can lead to a better outcome for both mother 00:01:21.18\00:01:25.25 and baby. I like acronyms to help me to remember things 00:01:25.28\00:01:29.48 and maybe this one will help you a little. 00:01:29.52\00:01:32.55 This acronym Birthing: 00:01:32.59\00:01:34.89 Let's start with the first one, 00:01:47.67\00:01:49.27 Endorphins are hormones that act as a natural pain reliever, 00:01:54.28\00:01:58.71 women who are physically fit, have a greater release 00:01:58.75\00:02:02.88 of these hormones. This could be a real blessing 00:02:02.92\00:02:06.09 in times of discomfort and especially during labor. 00:02:06.12\00:02:09.46 Other benefits of exercise include: 00:02:09.49\00:02:12.69 And several other benefits. 00:02:21.90\00:02:23.57 Remember, those who are not accustomed to exercise 00:02:23.61\00:02:27.78 should build their endurance gradually. 00:02:27.81\00:02:31.51 In the first chapter of Exodus, Pharaoh ordered the midwives 00:02:31.55\00:02:36.18 to kill the male Hebrew babies. When they failed to do as 00:02:36.22\00:02:41.02 Pharaoh commanded, he demanded and explanation. 00:02:41.06\00:02:44.13 Their answer is found in Exodus 1:19 00:02:44.16\00:02:48.26 The Hebrew women were slaves, laboring in the field 00:02:59.17\00:03:02.04 and open air, while the Egyptian women were delicate 00:03:02.08\00:03:05.95 and confined indoors most of the time. 00:03:05.98\00:03:08.35 The Hebrew word for lively can be translated as: 00:03:08.38\00:03:12.55 So it appears, they had faster and easier deliveries. 00:03:14.92\00:03:19.36 So what is safe exercise? You can see the best exercise 00:03:19.39\00:03:23.77 is working outside in the fresh air and sunshine. 00:03:23.80\00:03:27.20 One excellent form of exercise is gardening. 00:03:27.24\00:03:31.07 Not only does it strengthen the legs, back and arms, 00:03:31.11\00:03:35.14 but squatting helps prepare the pelvic floor muscles 00:03:35.18\00:03:39.08 for the birth. Walking is another good form of exercise, 00:03:39.11\00:03:43.35 but not just walking around shopping malls. 00:03:43.39\00:03:46.62 A nice walk in the country, with fresh air and sunshine 00:03:46.65\00:03:50.96 is great for the mother's well being. 00:03:50.99\00:03:53.40 Just like an athlete prepares for a race, safe exercise 00:03:53.43\00:03:58.07 helps prepare the mother for childbirth, 00:03:58.10\00:04:01.14 and remember, it increases those pain relieving endorphins. 00:04:01.17\00:04:05.54 The next one is: 00:04:05.57\00:04:07.11 As mentioned before, the best exercise is outdoors, 00:04:09.24\00:04:13.05 this is because you want to get plenty of fresh air. 00:04:13.08\00:04:16.42 Let's look at a few things pure air can do for you. 00:04:16.45\00:04:20.79 In the book Ministry of Healing, page 272 we read: 00:04:35.47\00:04:38.74 Since we are talking abut breathing, I would like to 00:05:04.83\00:05:07.50 mention controlled breathing during labor and delivery. 00:05:07.54\00:05:11.21 We call it controlled breathing as opposed to panic breathing 00:05:11.24\00:05:15.68 which often happens during labor and contributes to stress. 00:05:15.71\00:05:20.32 Practice breathing deeply from your diaphragm, 00:05:20.35\00:05:24.25 in through your nose and out through your mouth 00:05:24.29\00:05:28.06 very slowly. This will actually help you relax and give you 00:05:28.09\00:05:34.46 more endurance because you are expending less energy, 00:05:34.50\00:05:38.30 this will also help your labor to progress easier. 00:05:38.33\00:05:43.20 Ok, now let's look at the next one: 00:05:43.24\00:05:45.37 When you are pregnant, you need to train yourself 00:05:46.68\00:05:49.48 to rest at will. In other words, you need to be able to stop 00:05:49.51\00:05:54.02 what you are doing and take a nap. 00:05:54.05\00:05:56.32 This is especially important when you get close to 00:05:56.35\00:05:58.95 going into labor. Consider the statement from the 00:10:02.40\00:10:05.63 pen of inspiration. 00:10:05.67\00:10:07.34 The benefits of sunshine are not as appreciated, 00:10:15.08\00:10:18.55 as they should be. Here are just a few. 00:10:18.58\00:10:21.82 Let's talk about that last point a minute. 00:10:42.47\00:10:45.47 Jaundice is a yellowing of the skin and the whites 00:10:45.51\00:10:48.71 of the eyes that often appears in newborns shortly after birth, 00:10:48.74\00:10:53.05 this is a result of a build up Bilirubin in the blood stream. 00:10:53.08\00:10:57.35 Bilirubin is a by-product of the break down of red blood cells 00:10:57.39\00:11:02.06 which are fragile in newborns. 00:11:02.09\00:11:04.83 The body produces certain enzymes designed to deal 00:11:04.86\00:11:10.03 with the Bilirubin so that it doesn't build up in the 00:11:10.07\00:11:12.43 body, but babies need a little time to produce these enzymes 00:11:12.47\00:11:16.67 and for their liver to mature to where it can break down 00:11:16.71\00:11:20.78 the Bilirubin. For this reason and estimated 60% 00:11:20.81\00:11:25.91 of full term babies, and 80% of premature babies 00:11:25.95\00:11:30.19 will show some sign of jaundice, 00:11:30.22\00:11:33.19 fortunately only about 5% need some sort of treatment. 00:11:33.22\00:11:37.36 Not only has God provided the enzyme to break down 00:11:37.39\00:11:41.06 the Bilirubin, but He has provided sunshine 00:11:41.10\00:11:45.47 to help in this process. Always remember to do this 00:11:45.50\00:11:49.90 under the supervision of your health care provider, 00:11:49.94\00:11:53.01 you don't want to over expose your baby to the sun. 00:11:53.04\00:11:56.34 Nutrition is our next on the list: 00:11:56.38\00:11:58.81 First of all, don't trust your cravings. 00:11:58.85\00:12:02.22 In the book Councils on Diet and Food, page 220 is says: 00:12:02.25\00:12:07.06 If you are eating healthy, then you are getting all the 00:12:31.35\00:12:34.75 nutrients that the baby needs. For example: 00:12:34.78\00:12:37.99 Calcium for fetal bone development as well as teeth. 00:12:38.02\00:12:42.39 Folic Acid for blood production. Iodine for thyroid function 00:12:42.42\00:12:48.00 and hormone production, and Iron for healthy blood and 00:12:48.03\00:12:52.73 liver, for baby and mom. There are many other nutrients like: 00:12:52.77\00:12:58.14 that they need for healthy development. 00:13:06.78\00:13:09.38 Last and certainly not least is: 00:13:09.42\00:13:12.45 It is not just the physical aspect that we should be 00:13:12.49\00:13:17.29 concerned about when it comes to pregnancy, 00:13:17.33\00:13:20.06 although it is very important, it is even more important 00:13:20.10\00:13:23.80 to start each day with God's word. 00:13:23.83\00:13:26.67 Spending time ready your Bible will provide spiritual strength 00:13:26.70\00:13:31.24 and guidance and places your baby under the influence 00:13:31.27\00:13:36.31 of the Holy Spirit. 00:13:36.34\00:13:37.68 Proverbs 4:20- 22 says: 00:13:37.71\00:13:42.48 During pregnancy, you and your baby 00:13:56.87\00:13:59.73 will greatly benefit from all of these eight laws of 00:13:59.77\00:14:02.80 prenatal health, and you know what? 00:14:02.84\00:14:05.74 All of these benefits are free, 00:14:05.77\00:14:08.01 a gift from our loving Heavenly Father, to you. 00:14:08.04\00:14:12.58 Join me next time for more about our Devine Design. 00:14:12.61\00:14:16.92
