For our let's eat together segment, 00:00:42.74\00:00:44.94 the ingredients for our portabella burgers include: 00:00:44.97\00:00:48.21 Alright, to get us started, let's start with our 00:01:07.20\00:01:14.14 portabella caps. 00:01:14.17\00:01:15.50 So what I do for our portabella caps 00:01:15.54\00:01:20.31 is I like to get the large ones and I will marinade it. 00:01:20.34\00:01:25.98 So I like to marinade it and when you go home and you are 00:01:26.01\00:01:29.02 using your Italian Dressing, it's important to find one 00:01:29.05\00:01:32.72 that doesn't have vinegar in it, 00:01:32.75\00:01:34.32 so you want to make sure to do that, 00:01:34.36\00:01:36.39 and...Cause it's healthier to have without it. 00:01:36.42\00:01:40.00 So you will take our portabella cap and put it in a bowl 00:01:40.03\00:01:44.67 and we will put our Italian Dressing over it. 00:01:44.70\00:01:51.61 Now today you will realize that all of our meals are 00:01:55.34\00:01:59.11 plant based and the reason that I love to do that is 00:01:59.15\00:02:02.18 because I found that eating plant based meals 00:02:02.22\00:02:04.25 are really good for the optimal health. 00:02:04.29\00:02:06.92 It's really good to help you have clear mind, 00:02:06.96\00:02:09.69 help your body to function properly and that's why I chose 00:02:09.72\00:02:13.13 plant based meals for today. 00:02:13.16\00:02:14.86 And what we'll do is we are going to allow this marinate 00:02:14.90\00:02:18.00 and we'll put some extra seasonings to make sure it's 00:02:18.03\00:02:22.17 full of flavor. 00:02:22.20\00:02:23.84 So we'll put some garlic powder, you can put this on if you like. 00:02:23.87\00:02:28.08 Add a little bit of garlic powder, 00:02:28.11\00:02:30.11 put some Italian seasoning or Rosemary and then, 00:02:30.15\00:02:36.18 we'll mix it...what I like about mushrooms is, 00:02:36.22\00:02:43.69 especially portabella caps, they really soak in the different 00:02:43.73\00:02:47.06 ingredients and flavors that you put inside of them 00:02:47.10\00:02:50.87 or around them and so they are not tasteless, they act similar 00:02:50.90\00:02:56.00 to tofu in the sense that they absorb the different flavors. 00:02:56.04\00:02:59.67 So what I like to do is leave the element of time to do it's 00:02:59.71\00:03:05.35 work. Okay so we'll take... 00:10:28.29\00:10:32.69 What you do with your potatoes, you boil them in water 00:10:32.73\00:10:36.16 and you let them soften and it's really key because this 00:10:36.20\00:10:39.63 allows them to be more manageable when you are making 00:10:39.67\00:10:41.44 your mashed potatoes. 00:10:41.47\00:10:42.80 So all you do is you peel them and you put them 00:10:42.84\00:10:45.54 in boiling water and then when they are done, 00:10:45.57\00:10:48.58 they will look something like this. 00:10:48.61\00:10:51.01 So you just allow them to boil and then you can see how 00:10:51.05\00:10:54.58 soft they are, they are very manageable. 00:10:54.62\00:10:57.99 So they are ready to be mashed. 00:10:58.02\00:11:05.63 So now, I'll take this and I will just smash the potatoes. 00:11:05.66\00:11:13.27 It's true to its name. I am going to take some garlic, 00:11:53.71\00:11:56.91 this is going to give it a lot of flavor and what I will do 00:11:56.95\00:12:01.95 is I will take some garlic cloves, I'll chop them, 00:12:01.98\00:12:05.52 you can buy them minced as well, already done for you... 00:12:05.55\00:12:10.26 Alright. So what we'll do is we will heat up the skillet 00:12:20.50\00:12:30.71 or you could use a sauce pan and we will also take some 00:12:30.75\00:12:37.09 Rosemary. When it comes to a sprig of Rosemary you can just 00:12:37.12\00:12:39.82 take it like this, it's a super cool trick that I learned 00:12:39.85\00:12:42.26 and all you do is you pull down and you get all the 00:12:42.29\00:12:45.99 different sprigs of Rosemary just like this. 00:12:46.03\00:12:48.60 Well actually, usually, there we go, it looks just like this. 00:12:48.63\00:12:53.27 There it is. Ok, so we have our Rosemary 00:12:53.30\00:12:59.01 and all we are going to do is chop it up. 00:12:59.04\00:13:03.68 I love the smell of Rosemary, I like to add it in pizza, 00:13:19.86\00:13:24.13 lots of different sauces, it's one of my favorite herbs. 00:13:24.17\00:13:29.20 Ok. Now, so we have our skillet ready. 00:13:29.24\00:13:36.41 We're going to take our potatoes like this, put them into our 00:13:36.44\00:13:44.12 skillet, there we go. 00:13:44.15\00:13:55.60 And now we are going to put some olive oil or you can 00:13:55.63\00:14:03.67 utilize water, we'll also put our garlic cloves, 00:14:03.71\00:14:13.21 just put a little water in there, ok, then we will put 00:14:13.25\00:14:28.26 our Rosemary, sprinkle it in. 00:14:28.30\00:14:38.74 Next we will put some garlic powder, you can't get enough 00:14:38.77\00:14:47.28 garlic, especially when it comes to your potatoes, 00:14:47.32\00:14:49.48 it gives it a lot, a lot of flavor. 00:14:49.52\00:14:53.22 Then you can put some water or your vegan butter. 00:14:53.25\00:15:03.10 Then you can start to allow that to mix. 00:15:03.13\00:15:10.34 Now to make it mashed potatoes we're going to add some liquid 00:15:10.37\00:15:13.98 which is our milk, going to add some salt to taste. 00:15:14.01\00:15:27.26 Mixing it and it's really nice because they are mashed already, 00:15:27.29\00:15:42.27 it's already starting to make the nice consistency 00:15:42.30\00:15:45.51 and texture. 00:15:45.54\00:15:47.84 There you go, turn the heat down a little bit, 00:15:47.88\00:15:52.95 allow things to effectively combine and put it on like a 00:15:52.98\00:15:57.75 low simmer. 00:15:57.79\00:15:59.55 And right now I want to show you how it looks as we are 00:16:08.80\00:16:11.17 combining everything. You can see the mashed potatoes are 00:16:11.20\00:16:15.24 coming together. 00:16:15.27\00:16:16.60 Ok. And also put your masher it too, if you like to do that 00:16:28.45\00:16:36.49 as well. 00:16:36.52\00:16:37.86 Essentially I am just making sure that everything is 00:16:48.37\00:16:50.47 effectively mixing and coming together. 00:16:50.51\00:16:53.58 Now if you like it more creamy I'd recommend to add either 00:16:53.61\00:16:58.61 more water or more soy milk. I added some water. 00:16:58.65\00:17:06.35 And see things are coming together and there you have 00:17:06.39\00:17:16.63 your mashed potatoes and you just allow it to continuously 00:17:16.67\00:17:19.20 come together and become more smooth and then you will have 00:17:19.23\00:17:22.30 your finished product of mashed potatoes. 00:17:22.34\00:17:24.34 Which brings us on to our next recipe which is gravy. 00:17:24.37\00:17:28.84 The ingredients include. 00:17:28.91\00:17:30.31 So for our delicious mashed potatoes, it's nice to top it 00:17:41.92\00:17:47.30 off with a nice gravy. So what we will do is we will take a 00:17:47.33\00:17:53.23 saucepan and let it heat. 00:17:53.27\00:17:54.64 At the base, you can put your vegan butter. 00:17:54.67\00:18:00.91 You can also use less amount if you prefer. Ok. 00:18:00.94\00:18:13.32 You let that melt, now you will add flour, 00:18:13.36\00:18:23.03 there's all different types of flour that you can use 00:18:23.06\00:18:28.17 that are healthier, so use the flour that you prefer. 00:18:28.20\00:18:33.31 Then you just stir it and what happens is it creates like a 00:18:33.34\00:18:45.45 rue, it's similar to a rue. 00:18:45.49\00:18:47.62 It becomes thick and it comes together, I'll show you. 00:18:47.66\00:18:53.73 It comes together like this and so then you will now 00:18:53.76\00:19:05.14 add some Amino Braggs, just pour this in. 00:19:05.17\00:19:14.22 I really like using this instead of soy sauce because it has 00:19:14.25\00:19:24.99 less sodium, it's non-GMO and it's better for you than 00:19:25.03\00:19:30.63 soy sauce, than typical soy sauce. 00:19:30.67\00:19:33.23 Then you will add your milk and then you can whisk or stir, 00:19:33.27\00:19:48.72 you just want everything to start to come together. 00:19:48.75\00:19:55.36 And your goal is as you are stirring, you want to start 00:19:55.39\00:20:02.03 breaking down the rue or the base which is the vegan butter 00:20:02.06\00:20:07.00 and the flour of your choosing. 00:20:07.04\00:20:09.94 Just want to stir it. Ok. until it continuously gets 00:20:09.97\00:20:25.49 a little bit thicker and let it simmer for some time 00:20:25.52\00:20:31.99 so it can take on the flavors. Now in this gravy, 00:20:32.03\00:20:35.73 what you can do is you can put a little salt to taste, 00:20:35.76\00:20:39.30 you can add some different herbs, if you want to do a spin 00:20:39.33\00:20:42.70 if you would like to make a different type of gravy, 00:20:42.74\00:20:45.51 you can use it as a base and add your additional seasoning 00:20:45.54\00:20:49.24 for your gravy, so this is a nice base gravy that you can 00:20:49.28\00:20:53.68 build from and when you are done, all you do is you 00:20:53.72\00:20:57.89 take it and pour it over your beautiful and delicious 00:20:57.92\00:21:01.16 mashed potatoes and get ready to eat. 00:21:01.19\00:21:04.59 This brings us to our next recipe which is 00:21:04.63\00:21:10.43 Sweet Potato Fries. The ingredients include. 00:21:10.47\00:21:12.90 Now for our sweet potato fries what we are going to do is 00:21:32.75\00:21:35.66 take some sweet potatoes, peel it and once you are done peeling 00:21:35.69\00:21:40.23 you will just chop it into fry sections. 00:21:40.26\00:21:45.73 For example, I will cut it in half just like so, 00:21:45.77\00:21:49.90 and then I will be left with this and then I will cut it 00:21:49.94\00:21:52.04 into three different segments. You can do long fries 00:21:52.07\00:21:59.25 it's up to your choosing. 00:21:59.28\00:22:01.68 Then like this, these are really long, or if you want them 00:22:01.72\00:22:05.99 shorter, cut it in the middle. 00:22:06.02\00:22:07.62 Sweet potato fries are coming together. 00:22:07.66\00:22:17.87 I love this complex carbohydrate, it's delicious 00:22:17.90\00:22:21.77 and at the same time, it has great nutrients, 00:22:21.80\00:22:25.67 I like making it as well. 00:22:25.71\00:22:27.81 So then just making our fries. 00:22:27.84\00:22:31.91 When I have my portabella burgers, 00:22:31.95\00:22:37.52 I really like to incorporate sweet potato fries on the side 00:22:37.55\00:22:41.59 especially when you are busy and you have so many different 00:22:41.62\00:22:44.06 things to do, it's really nice to have a meal that you can make 00:22:44.09\00:22:46.73 quickly and on the go. 00:22:46.76\00:22:48.63 So for example the portabella burgers, if you let them 00:22:48.66\00:22:50.77 marinate the day before, when you come home all you have to do 00:22:50.80\00:22:54.84 is take it out, put it on your skillet, 00:22:54.87\00:22:58.27 let the sauces marinate, top it with cheese, you could do that 00:22:58.31\00:23:01.44 in probably less than 10 minutes if you are quick 00:23:01.48\00:23:04.28 and then you just put your sweet potato fries... 00:23:04.31\00:23:07.05 you can turn your oven on and then get them ready. 00:23:07.08\00:23:09.68 So I will show you the next step, let's finish our 00:23:09.72\00:23:11.42 sweet potato's really quick. 00:23:11.45\00:23:12.79 So just cut it into two different slices for fries, 00:23:12.82\00:23:17.79 then we'll finish this. 00:23:17.83\00:23:21.06 Ok. So now we have our sweet potato fries, I cut them up 00:23:21.10\00:23:28.57 like this but you can cut them up any way that you like. 00:23:28.60\00:23:32.67 So I'll take the fries and put them in the bowl 00:23:32.71\00:23:42.05 and now it's time to dress them with the different 00:23:42.08\00:23:47.42 seasonings that you like. 00:23:47.46\00:23:49.62 So I'll take a little bit of Olive Oil, 00:23:49.66\00:23:52.33 Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Cold Pressed is preferred 00:23:52.36\00:23:57.07 but if you notice that when it comes to Extra Virgin Cold 00:23:57.10\00:24:01.87 Pressed Olive Oil, it's refined less so it is healthier for you. 00:24:01.90\00:24:05.11 Less oil is better so instead if you don't want to use 00:24:05.14\00:24:08.48 Extra Virgin Olive Oil, you can use water. 00:24:08.51\00:24:10.05 It's a good way to supplement it out. 00:24:10.08\00:24:12.55 Alright. Then we will use some garlic powder, 00:24:12.58\00:24:24.29 we'll use some Italian Seasoning, you can use some 00:24:24.33\00:24:36.30 Oregano as well, then some chicken seasoning, 00:24:36.34\00:24:41.44 chicken style seasoning is really great to put over 00:24:41.48\00:24:48.28 different dishes because it gives it that nice nice flavor 00:24:48.32\00:24:54.16 and it really accents the vegetable or the different 00:24:54.19\00:24:59.33 ingredients of the dish that you are making. 00:24:59.36\00:25:01.56 So you just let it toss and if you find that you would like 00:25:01.60\00:25:03.50 some little more moisture, for me, I would add some water. 00:25:03.53\00:25:06.87 Just take some water here and pour it in there, 00:25:06.90\00:25:10.51 it helps mix this around, there you go and as you see 00:25:10.54\00:25:20.35 as you keep tossing it, they are really absorbing the different 00:25:20.38\00:25:29.42 seasonings, so take a look at that. 00:25:29.46\00:25:34.00 So this takes a different toll on what you think a sweet potato 00:25:34.03\00:25:39.87 fry is.
