Now as we have moved into
the latter part of this book,

prophetic chapters.

Chapter 7 is dealing with
these different beasts, images

or kingdoms and Chapter 8
again is doing the same thing.

In fact Chapter 8 is in
a sense a parallel of the

prophetic portions of
Daniel that we have seen so far.

Daniel 2, the prophetic picture
of the image representing

four kingdoms coming down
to the stone and Jesus' return.

Daniel 7 representing, in
prophetic language, the beast

of those same
kingdoms coming down and the

return of Jesus Christ.

The book of Daniel
reveals to us a repeat and

The first prophecy in the
book of Daniel is the vision

or dream that
Nebuchadnezzar received.

The great image beginning
with the head of gold and

coming all the way down
the image to the feet mixed

with iron and clay.

This of course reveals
a succession of kingdoms,

from the time of Babylon,
the head of gold, down to the
00:01:46.33\00:01:49.04
second coming of Jesus.

Well then the second
prophetic vision that we have,

in the book of Daniel
Chapter 7, which we have already
00:01:53.23\00:01:56.29
looked at, covers the
same history beginning with the
00:01:56.32\00:01:59.19
lion which parallels to
the head of gold, the kingdom
00:01:59.23\00:02:02.38
of Babylon, and then a
series of beasts are revealed
00:02:02.42\00:02:05.54
that give us a
succession of kingdoms.
00:02:05.58\00:02:07.54
But now in Chapter 7,
as we saw, greater focus,
00:02:07.58\00:02:11.33
greater details is given to the
final power, the little horn.

Now, when we come to
Chapter 8 of the book of Daniel,

Babylon is eliminated
from the lineup and the vision

begins with Media
Persia, which is symbolized by

the ram with two horns.
00:02:26.81\00:02:29.00
One of the horns was raised
higher than the other because
00:02:29.03\00:02:32.02
the Media Persian kingdom
was composed of two kingdoms
00:02:32.06\00:02:34.53
that were united and one
was stronger than the other.
00:02:34.56\00:02:37.00
And then the goat which
does battle with the ram
00:02:37.03\00:02:41.13
is a symbolic representation
of the kingdom of Grecia.

You know it is interesting
Ty, because the parallelism here

develops a basic theme or
00:02:49.58\00:02:52.51
a basic outline that is going
00:02:52.55\00:02:54.58
to be very vital for us as we

seek to understand more of what

Daniel 8 is focusing on.

You are seeing here an
introduction, in a sense, to new
00:02:59.78\00:03:04.49
animals or new symbols, but
there is a point that is made
00:03:04.52\00:03:08.20
in interpreting these
symbols so that we can recognize
00:03:08.23\00:03:11.87
that they parallel
Daniel 7 and Daniel 2.

The interpretation is
very clear, or we don't have to

guess here in this Chapter
because while Daniel's vision

reveals the ram and the he-goat,
and their battle with one

another, later on in the
vision it comes right out and
00:03:24.97\00:03:28.70
says, very plainly, in verse
20 that "ram which you saw"

"having two horns, they
are the kings of the Medes"
00:03:32.47\00:03:35.08
"and the Persians".
00:03:35.12\00:03:36.09
And in verse 21 "the
male goat is the kingdom of"
00:03:36.10\00:03:39.26
"Grecia, and the
large horn between his eyes"
00:03:39.29\00:03:42.50
"is the first king,"
Or Alexander the Great.

So what you have here,
you have the book of Daniel

taking us to a focus on a
certain power, or kingdom,

that is going to be significant
in its fight against God and
00:03:54.31\00:03:58.78
against God's people.
00:03:58.82\00:03:59.81
It is developing a basic
theme of Babylon, Media Persia,
00:03:59.84\00:04:03.79
Greece and Rome.
00:04:03.83\00:04:05.24
It is homing in on Rome
and that is what we find in

Daniel Chapter 8.
00:04:08.48\00:04:09.58
In Daniel 8, most
of the discussion,

most of the focus, is on
the activity again of the little
00:04:12.23\00:04:15.79
Horn, verse 9 of Daniel 8, "out
of one of them came forth a"
00:04:15.82\00:04:19.34
"little Horn which waxed
exceedingly great toward the"
00:04:19.38\00:04:22.40
"south and toward the east
and toward the pleasant land. "
00:04:22.43\00:04:25.42
So here you have a little
horn that you had in Daniel 7.

You have the
succession of kingdoms.
00:04:28.45\00:04:30.50
You skip Babylon because
it was removed from the scene.

Media Persia, you have
Greece, it is not significant to

spend a lot of time on
them, and then you have Rome.

Pagan and then papal stage.

Then your homing in on
what this power is going to be
00:04:42.59\00:04:46.23
doing in relation to the
sanctuary, and in relation to
00:04:46.27\00:04:50.16
God's people and the truth,
especially down through the
00:04:50.19\00:04:54.05
centuries and the end of time.
00:04:54.09\00:04:55.53
So let's note the key
characteristics of the little
00:04:55.57\00:04:59.03
horn in Chapter 8
here, and it's activities.
00:04:59.06\00:05:02.54
We see in verse 10, that
it grew up, "even to the host"
00:05:02.58\00:05:06.26
"of heaven; and it cast
down some of the host and some"
00:05:06.29\00:05:09.67
"of the stars to the
ground and trampled upon them. "
00:05:09.70\00:05:13.00
This again is parallel to
the characteristic of the little
00:05:13.04\00:05:16.12
horn in Chapter 7, that
it will be a persecuting
00:05:16.16\00:05:18.92
power that will use it's
influence and it's might against
00:05:18.95\00:05:24.01
the people of God.
00:05:24.04\00:05:25.80
Then it says in verse 11,
this is very fascinating James.
00:05:25.84\00:05:29.95
It says, "he even
exalted himself as high as the"
00:05:29.99\00:05:35.62
"Prince of the host. "
00:05:35.66\00:05:38.11
That is the
Messiah, Jesus Christ.
00:05:38.14\00:05:41.86
Not named as the Messiah,
Jesus Christ in the prophecy
00:05:41.89\00:05:45.74
specifically, but the Prince
of the host that is spoken
00:05:45.78\00:05:49.60
of here is a prophecy
of the coming Messiah,
00:05:49.63\00:05:52.99
the Lord Jesus Christ.
00:05:53.03\00:05:54.02
And this little horn
power, it is prophesied of this
00:05:54.05\00:05:56.97
little horn power that it
will use its influence to exalt
00:05:57.00\00:06:01.25
itself up above even
the Lord Jesus Christ.

And how do we know this Ty?

One of the reasons we know
it, I think it is important

for viewers to see this,
one of the reasons we know

this is because of the
interpretation again in
00:06:11.83\00:06:14.85
verses 24 and 25.
00:06:14.89\00:06:16.46
Notice what it says, "and
his power shall be mighty,"
00:06:16.50\00:06:21.18
"but not by his own power: and
he shall destroy wonderfully,"
00:06:21.21\00:06:24.93
"and shall prosper, and
practice, and shall destroy the"
00:06:24.97\00:06:28.43
"mighty and the holy people. "
00:06:28.47\00:06:30.00
"And through his policy
also he shall cause craft to"
00:06:30.04\00:06:33.74
"prosper in his hand; and
he shall magnify himself in"
00:06:33.77\00:06:37.20
"his heart, and by peace
shall destroy many; he shall"

"also stand up against
the Prince of princes;"

"but he shall be
broken without hand. "

Now clearly the Prince of
princes, in this interpretation

of what you have just read,
is talking about Jesus Christ.

Absolutely, and it's fascinating
to note here, that just

as a reminder, we are reading

words that were penned by Daniel
00:07:00.52\00:07:03.01
the prophet centuries in advance

of these unfolding events.

It's remarkable that we
are looking at a prophecy that
00:07:07.99\00:07:12.39
foretells such
details that are to occur
00:07:12.43\00:07:16.12
at the end of time.
00:07:16.16\00:07:17.43
As we go back now to
verse 12, it says, "a host was"
00:07:17.47\00:07:22.80
"given to him against the
daily sacrifice by reason of"
00:07:22.84\00:07:26.77
"transgression, and in a
cast down the truth to the"
00:07:26.80\00:07:30.70
"ground; and it
practiced, and prospered. "
00:07:30.73\00:07:33.82
So here we have an attack that
00:07:33.85\00:07:35.42
is being made, not only against
00:07:35.45\00:07:36.79
the Prince of the host, not
00:07:36.82\00:07:38.07
only against the sanctuary,
00:07:38.10\00:07:39.28
but also against
the truth itself.
00:07:39.31\00:07:42.00
The truth is being cast down,
and this power is practicing
00:07:42.03\00:07:46.68
and prospering in
place of the truth.
00:07:46.72\00:07:49.19
We need to define very clearly
what Daniel's prophecy is
00:07:49.22\00:07:53.21
referring to when it says
that this power will cast the
00:07:53.24\00:07:57.19
truth to the ground.
00:07:57.23\00:07:58.65
First of all the
context reveals that the truth,
00:07:58.68\00:08:02.03
that is spoken of here,
is none other than the total
00:08:02.07\00:08:05.32
package of truth, that we
has been speaking in previous
00:08:05.36\00:08:08.77
programs of the new covenant
of which Jesus the Prince of
00:08:08.80\00:08:13.58
the host, the Messiah, is
the source of the new covenant.
00:08:13.62\00:08:16.87
Jesus said it this way in
the New Testament, He said,
00:08:16.90\00:08:20.12
"I am the way, and
the truth, and the life. "
00:08:20.16\00:08:22.55
He is the truth encapsulated.
00:08:22.58\00:08:25.04
So the little horn is a power
that is using its influence
00:08:25.07\00:08:28.90
to attack the truth
of the plan of salvation
00:08:28.93\00:08:32.28
and the new covenant.
00:08:32.31\00:08:33.69
To intervene to prevent
the fulfillment of the plan
00:08:33.72\00:08:37.11
of salvation, to
prevent the fulfillment of God's
00:08:37.14\00:08:40.50
new covenant plan.
00:08:40.53\00:08:41.69
This is it's objective the
enemy of Christ and God's people
00:08:41.73\00:08:48.01
at the end of time.

You know what is significant
about this Ty, in relation
00:08:49.13\00:08:52.06
to what we have dealt with
so far, is that we looked in
00:08:52.09\00:08:55.73
Daniel 7 for an understanding
of how that fit in with
00:08:55.77\00:08:59.37
the new covenant promise.
00:08:59.41\00:09:00.55
We saw that it was a
subtle attack against the new
00:09:00.58\00:09:03.55
covenant by undermining
God's law, changing God's law,
00:09:03.59\00:09:06.38
which is part of the new
covenant promise of Hebrews
00:09:06.41\00:09:09.17
Chapter 8 and Chapter 10.
00:09:09.20\00:09:10.77
Now we see an attack made
against the sanctuary and the
00:09:10.80\00:09:15.17
truth, I believe that this
sanctuary language takes us
00:09:15.20\00:09:19.53
back to forgiveness, to
the mercy of God and the
00:09:19.57\00:09:23.02
forgiveness of
God that was set up
00:09:23.06\00:09:24.07
in the sanctuary system.
00:09:24.11\00:09:25.18
In fact the word daily, it
is really interesting if you
00:09:25.21\00:09:27.97
do a study on the word daily,
this word is used throughout the
00:09:28.01\00:09:31.11
Old Testament in connection
with the earthly sanctuary.
00:09:31.15\00:09:34.96
The daily sacrifice, the
ministration of the high priest
00:09:35.00\00:09:38.59
on a daily basis, the
incense that was burning daily
00:09:38.62\00:09:41.53
in the sanctuary, the
candlestick that was burning
00:09:41.56\00:09:44.40
daily in the sanctuary, the
showbread that was to be set
00:09:44.43\00:09:47.13
in the sanctuary
on a daily basis.
00:09:47.17\00:09:48.87
All of these were
described with the word daily.

That whole sanctuary service
described in this manner,

pointed Jesus Christ.

He was the sacrifice, He was
the light, He is the incense,

He is the bread of life,
all of it pointed to Jesus.

Jesus is the
embodiment of truth.

Jesus in His mediation,
He is our high Priest.

Jesus and the forgiveness
of sins, that He has brought

to us through His sacrifice,
the sacrifice of the Lamb.

So when you are looking
at the picture in Daniel 8,

what you are looking at
here is another attack against
00:10:20.73\00:10:23.74
the new covenant, not
this time against the law,
00:10:23.77\00:10:25.89
but this time against the
promise that their sins and
00:10:25.93\00:10:29.11
iniquities are
remembered no more.
00:10:29.14\00:10:31.17
It is evident that what
we are dealing with here is a
00:10:31.20\00:10:35.22
power at the end of time
that is interposing itself
00:10:35.26\00:10:39.63
between human beings and
God, between human beings and
00:10:39.66\00:10:44.00
Christ, as the One
and only true Mediator.
00:10:44.03\00:10:47.48
We have reluctantly, but
forthrightly identified the
00:10:47.52\00:10:52.05
little horn power,
as the papal phase,
00:10:52.09\00:10:55.15
of the Roman empire.
00:10:55.19\00:10:57.01
We don't mean by this to
indicate anything negative
00:10:57.04\00:11:00.11
against any of the
parishioners, any of the members
00:11:00.15\00:11:04.37
of that worldwide denomination,
that worldwide church,
00:11:04.41\00:11:08.60
that is
represented in this prophecy.

What we do mean to indicate,
and what Bible prophecy

means to indicate, is
that the system itself, and the
00:11:15.20\00:11:19.50
doctrines that, that system
espouses interposes between

the people and God.

To divert attention from
the mediatorial ministry of

Jesus Christ as our high Priest
in the heavenly sanctuary.

serious matter according

to Bible prophecy.

God in mercy is revealing
these things to us so that we

will direct our faith to
Christ and Christ alone as our

Savior and not depend on
any earthly system of priesthood

to bring us into a
right relationship with God.

This is true Ty, it
is really not people

I was raised in the Catholic
Church, I was an altar boy,

I was raised looking to
the priest for forgiveness,

looking to the
priest for intercession and

confession of sins.
00:12:09.20\00:12:10.36
It wasn't until I
started studying the Bible and

recognized these new
covenant promises, that I saw

Jesus Christ as my high
Priest and I knew I could go

directly to Him for
forgiveness of sins.

There are millions of
people today, maybe a billion

people who don't
understand this one truth.

It is vital for
them to understand it.

It had been cast down.

It had been trampled underfoot.

It has been lost sight of
in the minds and hearts of

millions of people, you
may be one of those people.

So it is very important
for this truth to be rectified,

For the sanctuary truth,
that Jesus is our high Priest.

all, that means a one
time sacrifice for all people.

It is vital for us to
understand friends, that Jesus

Christ is your High Priest
right now mediating for you

in heaven and you can go
directly to Him and asked for

and that your sins can

according to the new covenant.

good news because the truth of

the Gospel portrays God
as a God who is approachable.

A God who has come to us
in the person of Jesus Christ,

and He's invited us into
a relationship with Himself.

We are not in need of any
earthly system or mediatorial

system or any priesthood, not
because God is seeking to attack

that system per se, but
because God in a positive way is

trying to say no, you can

come directly to Me.

I love you and My heart is

open to you, My invitation

to salvation is to one
and all through Jesus Christ.

There is one mediator
between God and man and that is

the Lord Jesus Christ.

What a powerful invitation,
and what a beautiful picture,

of the character of God.

Every member of the human
family is invited freely to

approach God, through Christ,
and through Christ alone.

We are loved of God individually

forgive us and to accept us

and to love us.

God wants us to
know that He loves and

cares for us individually.
