from the beginning

We have prophecy
in so detail, yeah,

and so symbolic
that even Daniel himself

in verse 15 of Daniel 7 says,

"I was grieved in
my spirit and my body

and the visions of
my head troubled me,

I had a hard time
figuring this out.

And so what
happens here in Daniel 7

is he gets angelic help.

You know, when we have troubles

and we have difficulties

and we
acknowledge them to the Lord.

We tell God about our troubles

and we earnestly seek
Him with all our hearts,

you know, what happens?

He answers those prayers,
He comes to our aid friends,

He gives us relief,
He gives us instructions,

He sends messengers,

He earnestly
allows us, excuse me,

He earnestly comes to us

and minister to
us through His word,

that's why we are
studying the Bible,

us with our greatest burdens

we have a prophecy that
delineates the primary powers

from the time of Daniel to
the time of the end symbolize

series of animals or beasts,

whereas in Chapter 2,

Nebuchadnezzar's
dream revealed world history

through an image having

different kinds of metals
gold, silver, bronze, iron.

Now, we have a lion, a bear,

a leopard and a terrible beast,

a dragon like
beast, a nondescript beast

and Daniel
receives the interpretation

of these powers
with increased focus

on the end time portion
of the prophecy that God

is revealing to him and
we are going to get into that

as we unpack the

see here in Daniel Chapter 8.

We see another prophetic vision.

In fact what we're
finding here is a pattern,

we have Daniel 2,

this four different metals
representing four kingdoms.

We have Daniel 7,
00:02:36.52\00:02:37.85
these four beasts
representing four kingdoms.

Then we have Daniel 8,
00:02:39.45\00:02:40.79
another repeat here
and in a sense a repeat

and enlarge which is the
principle of Bible prophecy,

What is happening in Daniel 8,

is Daniel is receiving
another vision of kingdoms,

we have a Ram,
we have a He Goat,

these represents the
kingdoms of Medo-Persia
00:02:55.27\00:02:57.91
and the kingdoms
of Greece. Right.
00:02:57.94\00:02:59.27
These are two of
the same kingdoms
00:02:59.31\00:03:00.78
that are represented
in the previous visions,
00:03:00.81\00:03:02.61
but now we are
given more detail.
00:03:02.64\00:03:04.55
We also have the
little horn again in Daniel 8,
00:03:04.58\00:03:07.12
more detail is given
about this little horn power.

The same vision
repeated and enlarged upon,

we have Daniel
responding in the same way,

Daniel says, you
know, I don't understand,

and immediately a voice comes

in verses 15 and 16 and says,

"Make this man to
understand the vision."

really want to emphasize

its important
for us to recognize

that saying that
prophecy is too complicated,

too difficult,
too hard to understand

is not what God
is wanting for us.

He has promised to
give us insight and wisdom.

He has promised to send Gabriel

and angels and
messengers to interpret,

to understand the vision.

It's when we look at man

and we trust in
his interpretation

we go astray,

but as long as we turn
to God with all our hearts

understanding from the Bible,

comprehend this truths.

Chapter 8 of Daniel,

that will begin to get a sense

that the prophecies of Daniel

are especially for those living

at the end time
segment of human history,

because we notice here
James in Chapter 8 in verse 17,

that Daniel is
told that the visions

referred to the time of the end.

So Daniel does not
understand all the ratifications

and details of the
prophecies that he is receiving.

He understands some of that,

but he sure doesn't understand

those major portions
that are specifically

for those living
at the end of time.

So in Chapter 8
at the conclusion,

he fainted, he was
sick for a number of days,

he is astonished at the vision

and then Chapter 9 opens with
Daniel entering into prayer.

combination of Christian
experience of relationship

half of the book primarily

part of this primarily

focusing on Daniel's
Christian experience.

Daniel experience as a believer,

yes, Daniel
experiences as a follower of God

and so these first
verses are exemplifying

what its like to be meek

and humble and
yet obedient to God.

His attitude is not an attitude

of self-righteousness,

of I am better than them.

Daniel is in Babylon,

because of the
sins of his nation,

because they have
been unfaithful to God.

There is no real
indication that Daniel

as an individual has
been unfaithful to God,

and yet Daniel's attitude

when he prays to
God is we had sin,

its kind of this
corporate attitude of,

you know, its not them and us,

but I am including
myself with my nation.

I am not seeing that myself

is better than
them in other words.

And is this humility,

is this attitude that teaches us

how to have a proper
relationship with God

and a proper relationship
with other people around us

especially with people

who may not be
as obedient to God

or followers of God like we are.

Our attitude
friends to our people
00:06:00.06\00:06:02.16
who may not be as strong
in their faith as we are,

is to be an
attitude of humility,

attitude of love and
attitude of in session
00:06:07.40\00:06:09.83
and an attitude that is
winning them to the Lord.

I think that Daniel's attitude

here in prayer
is just so genuine,

James, he literally
feels his own unworthiness,

his own sinfulness.

He knows that he is
on a par with his people

and that he has
not exalted above them.

But then the last
part of Chapter 9,

I think is the
heart of the book.

This is the mountaintop
of the book of Daniel,

because here we
begin to see the Messiah

that is prophesied
of and I think the best
00:06:39.59\00:06:43.67
verse in the book James,
00:06:43.70\00:06:45.03
yeah, the best
verse in the book.
00:06:45.07\00:06:46.47
Sir Isaac Newton said
that this is the foundation
00:06:46.50\00:06:49.67
stone of Christianity.
00:06:49.70\00:06:51.34
And in verse 26
you have a summation,
00:06:51.37\00:06:53.54
not only of this Chapter,
00:06:53.58\00:06:54.98
not only of the book of Daniel,
00:06:55.01\00:06:56.34
but of the whole
message of the Bible
00:06:56.38\00:06:59.48
and this summation
basically in verse 26 is that

"After threescore and two weeks
00:07:03.25\00:07:05.99
shall Messiah be cut
off, but not for himself."

I love that not for
himself which begs the question.

If Jesus didn't give His
life at the cross for Himself,

if the sacrifice
wasn't for Himself,

who was it for?

And the obvious
answer as the Gospel

unfolds is that Jesus,

the Messiah laid
down His life for us,

for the whole human race.

That is in fact the Gospel
in a nutshell right there,

Jesus gave His
life, but not for Himself.

And I really want to emphasize

this point for our
viewers is that prophecy

is not so much about prediction

and doomsday and sensationalism.

Prophecy is about the cross,

prophecy is about Jesus Christ,

prophecy is about
salvation friends,

prophecy is to
direct us to Jesus.

There is a very
interesting verse

that brings this out
in the New Testament.

Its in John, Jesus there
speaking in John Chapter 13,

and the context of it
is the prophecy of sort,

it's a very short prophecy,

I mean its not a huge prophecy,

its actually one
that's very restricted

at speaking of Judas

and the fact that Judas
was going to betray Jesus

and Jesus was summarizing
00:08:19.96\00:08:21.30
that prophecy in
relation to Judas

and he says in verse 19,
00:08:23.40\00:08:24.80
"Now I tell you
before it come to pass"

and that is what prophecy is?

It's a prediction,
it's a foretelling,

its Jesus telling us
before it comes to pass,

so when it has come to pass,

The whole point of prophecy

is to reveal to
us ahead of time,

scenes in all of our lives.

Daniel has entered into prayer,

understanding of the prophecies

that he has been receiving

and he is overcome with
the sense of desire to know

what these prophecies mean,

so much so that he enters

into a three week
period of prayer and fasting.

And as Daniel in Chapter
10 is praying and fasting,

finally after three weeks

the angel
Gabriel appears to Daniel

and tells Daniel that the reason

why there has been this delayed

answer to his prayers,

because he has been
engaged in a conflict

with the prince of
Persia behind the scenes.

Daniel is not aware any of this,

he is just been praying,

Gabriel appears and
says from the moment

it used to be one of the
lighter chapters of prophecy,

significant to me,

but here is where the nutrients

are for the
Christian experience.

Here is a Chapter that's filled

with lessons that are practical

and powerful in understanding
the Great Controversy

and understanding
what its like to be go

through the
sanctification experience,
00:10:41.40\00:10:42.97
to see more of Jesus
00:10:43.00\00:10:44.34
and then more of
yourself in contrast

and how God use us
when we see that contrast

and how God loves us
in spite of who we are.

When we get to
Chapter 10 friends,

how much God loves us
in spite of ourselves.

Amen. Now Chapter 11 of
Daniel is just so detailed

But the real issue in
Chapter 11 of Daniel, James,

is to bring us to a
concentrated focus on

the New Covenant in
Chapter 11 in verse 22,

Jesus is referred to as
the Prince of the Covenant

specifically
referring to the New Covenant.
00:11:24.08\00:11:26.48
And then this power is
revealed at the end time
00:11:26.51\00:11:29.95
of human history that
is using its influence,
00:11:29.98\00:11:33.42
its energy, its
power to wedge war
00:11:33.46\00:11:36.99
against the
fulfillment of the New Covenant,
00:11:37.03\00:11:40.20
that's really the essence

of what's taking
place in Chapter 11

is this Great Controversy
between good and evil

centering on the New Covenant.

here is Jesus standing up

to deliver his
people at the end of time,

such as never was
since there was a nation.

There is a clear
indication that Daniel's book

has been sealed

and will be preserved

to be understood
at the end of time.

Absolutely, Daniel Chapter 12

summation of all the prophecies,
