Music... 00:00:01.73\00:00:26.19 Hello and welcome again to: Daniel All Access. 00:00:26.22\00:00:30.13 My name is C.A. Murray 00:00:30.16\00:00:31.99 it's my privilege and pleasure to welcome you all 00:00:32.03\00:00:34.33 to this odyssey through the book of Daniel. 00:00:34.36\00:00:38.33 As we seek to make Daniel very plain and very pertinent 00:00:38.40\00:00:44.07 Daniel has much to say to us in these days 00:00:44.11\00:00:47.51 so we welcome you 00:00:47.54\00:00:49.28 and we ask you to dig deeply and think deeply 00:00:49.31\00:00:53.15 because the Lord has a message for each and every one of us 00:00:53.21\00:00:56.58 in the book of Daniel. 00:00:56.62\00:00:58.52 Will you pray with me now. 00:00:58.55\00:01:00.39 "Father God, as we open your Word, 00:01:00.46\00:01:04.13 we ask for your Spirit because we need your Spirit 00:01:04.16\00:01:09.83 to understand your Word. 00:01:09.86\00:01:12.57 Enlighten us, illuminate the path before us 00:01:12.60\00:01:17.61 that we may see and know and do... 00:01:17.64\00:01:22.44 and we thank you dear Father, in Jesus' name, amen. " 00:01:22.48\00:01:25.78 Audience: Amen. 00:01:25.81\00:01:27.55 The title of our presentation today is: Dream Catcher 00:01:27.58\00:01:30.92 and I hold in my hand a Dream Catcher. 00:01:30.95\00:01:34.42 This is an Indian artifact from the American Indians 00:01:34.46\00:01:40.06 particularly the Ojibwe Tribe and the Lakota Tribe. 00:01:40.10\00:01:45.70 Now, if you cannot say, "Ojibwe and Lakota" 00:01:45.73\00:01:49.07 just say Chippewa and Sioux 00:01:49.10\00:01:50.74 because they are the same tribes. 00:01:50.77\00:01:53.34 The Ojibwe are the Chippewa and the Lakota are the Sioux 00:01:53.38\00:01:57.28 but they particularly made Dream Catchers. 00:01:57.31\00:02:01.35 It is made from Willow bark and the idea was 00:02:01.38\00:02:05.32 that the Dream Catcher was to keep you from having bad dreams 00:02:05.35\00:02:09.79 so, if you ever went to a Lakota Reservation... 00:02:09.82\00:02:12.83 a Sioux Reservation 00:02:12.86\00:02:14.20 or an Ojibwe-Chippewa Reservation, 00:02:14.23\00:02:17.93 you would find one of these somewhere in the house. 00:02:17.97\00:02:19.93 It was designed to ward off bad dreams. 00:02:19.97\00:02:24.24 Now the Indians thought that bad dreams were kind of dumb 00:02:24.27\00:02:28.68 and good dreams were kind of smart 00:02:28.71\00:02:31.88 because bad dreams have evil intent 00:02:31.91\00:02:34.78 and good dreams have good intent. 00:02:34.82\00:02:37.32 So the idea was the dumb bad dream 00:02:37.35\00:02:39.62 would get caught up in the webbing 00:02:39.65\00:02:41.89 and couldn't get through 00:02:41.92\00:02:44.03 and there's a little tiny hole here in the middle, 00:02:44.06\00:02:47.33 the good dream would find it's way through that hole 00:02:47.36\00:02:50.53 and get to the mind of the sleeping person 00:02:50.57\00:02:53.57 and the little rattles that are here... these little rattles 00:02:53.64\00:02:57.37 were to guide the good dreams through 00:02:57.41\00:03:01.18 but bad dreams would get caught up in the web 00:03:01.24\00:03:04.81 and in the morning they would dissipate 00:03:04.85\00:03:06.65 and only the smart good dream would make its way 00:03:06.72\00:03:09.38 all the way through to the mind of the sleeping person. 00:03:09.42\00:03:13.49 Boy, I wish it could be that easy. 00:03:13.52\00:03:15.32 Audience: Amen... 00:03:15.39\00:03:16.99 But it is not... 00:03:17.03\00:03:18.59 because the Bible says in Daniel chapter 2, 00:03:18.63\00:03:22.63 and that's our study for today 00:03:22.66\00:03:24.43 that Nebuchadnezzar had a series of dreams 00:03:24.47\00:03:28.87 and I guess, he would call these "bad dreams. " 00:03:28.90\00:03:34.21 Pause. 00:03:34.28\00:03:36.58 In the second year of his reign very early on 00:03:36.61\00:03:40.92 he is plagued now by a series of bad dreams 00:03:40.95\00:03:44.95 or at the very least, "disturbing dreams. " 00:03:44.99\00:03:50.13 These dreams literally rocked his world. 00:03:50.16\00:03:55.23 They so tormented him that he could not function, 00:03:55.26\00:03:58.97 he could not eat and he certainly could not sleep. 00:03:59.00\00:04:02.64 Now, the Bible says, "Dreams" with an "s" 00:04:02.67\00:04:06.34 later on, it says, "dream" 00:04:06.37\00:04:08.54 so, what we believe is... it is... it is the same dream 00:04:08.58\00:04:12.81 several times... 00:04:12.85\00:04:14.32 not different dreams but one dream 00:04:14.35\00:04:16.52 night... after night... after night... after night 00:04:16.55\00:04:19.85 which is bad enough 00:04:19.89\00:04:21.22 but then to be disturbed from your sleep 00:04:21.26\00:04:23.12 and then wake up from your dream 00:04:23.16\00:04:25.13 and not know what you dreamed is a pretty shaky thing. 00:04:25.16\00:04:30.43 How many of you have ever had bad dreams? 00:04:30.47\00:04:33.34 Audience: Agreeing. 00:04:33.37\00:04:34.97 And you kind of wish you could forget it 00:04:35.00\00:04:36.74 because sometimes they seem so real 00:04:36.77\00:04:38.77 but Nebuchadnezzar had a series of dreams, 00:04:38.81\00:04:41.44 didn't know what he dreamt but he knew it was bad 00:04:41.48\00:04:44.31 pause... 00:04:44.35\00:04:45.95 and it disturbed him very, very much. 00:04:45.98\00:04:50.59 The same dream night after night after night. 00:04:50.62\00:04:54.56 Now, most of the monarchs in the ancient days 00:04:54.62\00:04:58.53 kept people on staff... 00:04:58.56\00:05:00.63 these were people who are hired and paid 00:05:00.66\00:05:02.83 to consult the stars and to look into prophecies 00:05:02.86\00:05:08.30 and to deal with astrology 00:05:08.34\00:05:10.54 and to deal with things like dreams 00:05:10.57\00:05:13.94 and Nebuchadnezzar... 00:05:13.98\00:05:15.31 the Babylonian Empire was no different. 00:05:15.34\00:05:17.45 There were men there who existed 00:05:17.48\00:05:20.28 to serve the king in that fashion. 00:05:20.32\00:05:23.45 Their job was to consult mediums 00:05:23.49\00:05:26.32 and the stars and astrologers 00:05:26.35\00:05:29.12 and then give the king information that he requested 00:05:29.16\00:05:32.29 and that he needed. 00:05:32.33\00:05:34.56 So it is natural now, 00:05:34.60\00:05:36.77 since Nebuchadnezzar has this problem 00:05:36.80\00:05:39.33 he's got dreams that are disturbing him, 00:05:39.37\00:05:41.90 he doesn't know what they mean, 00:05:41.94\00:05:43.57 it is natural that he would consult these individuals 00:05:43.61\00:05:47.94 to try to get some understanding as to what these dreams meant. 00:05:47.98\00:05:53.72 So he wants a de-briefing from them. 00:05:53.75\00:05:56.55 Now, what is interesting is that God told 00:05:56.58\00:06:00.36 the Israelite Community... the Jewish Community... 00:06:00.39\00:06:04.39 stay away from this kind of stuff... 00:06:04.46\00:06:06.59 you know that... from the days of... of Saul 00:06:06.63\00:06:08.86 no demonology... no necromancy... 00:06:08.90\00:06:12.10 no consulting with wizards, no consulting with spirits, 00:06:12.13\00:06:15.47 they were to stay completely away from that... 00:06:15.50\00:06:17.47 which is interesting 00:06:17.51\00:06:18.84 because we'll come back to that in just a moment 00:06:18.87\00:06:20.21 but in Babylon... not only were these people revered, 00:06:20.24\00:06:24.61 they were at the top of the food chain as it were, 00:06:24.65\00:06:28.75 people who could divine things and tell secrets, 00:06:28.78\00:06:32.85 they were much prized for this ability. 00:06:32.89\00:06:36.83 So, Nebuchadnezzar says, "I've got a dream... 00:06:36.86\00:06:39.79 this dream is disturbing me... 00:06:39.83\00:06:42.06 I'm having this dream night after night... 00:06:42.10\00:06:44.63 after night... after night 00:06:44.67\00:06:46.23 and what I want you to do is explain to me 00:06:46.27\00:06:51.51 not only what the dream meant 00:06:51.57\00:06:53.44 but I'm going to need you to tell me what I dreamed. 00:06:53.48\00:06:56.18 Now, that's pretty tough... 00:06:56.21\00:06:58.65 "I need you to tell me what I dreamed and what it meant. " 00:06:58.68\00:07:04.95 And so, here's our text, the Bible says, 00:07:05.02\00:07:08.52 I'm in Daniel chapter 2 verse 4... 00:07:08.56\00:07:10.79 "Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in Aramaic... " 00:07:10.83\00:07:14.46 and remember last night I told you, 00:07:14.50\00:07:15.83 that Daniel is a series of sandwiches... 00:07:15.86\00:07:17.80 here's the first part of the sandwich 00:07:17.83\00:07:19.90 because right here at the word "Aramaic" 00:07:19.93\00:07:21.90 Daniel changes his writing from Hebrew to Aramaic 00:07:21.94\00:07:27.38 right here... this is a change... 00:07:27.41\00:07:29.58 so this is the meat part of the sandwich 00:07:29.61\00:07:31.28 that we were talking about last night, 00:07:31.31\00:07:32.95 so the king is asking them... their answer is, 00:07:32.98\00:07:35.88 "Then spake the Chaldeans to the King in Aramaic, 00:07:35.92\00:07:38.79 O king, live for ever: 00:07:38.82\00:07:40.99 tell thy servants the dream, 00:07:41.02\00:07:43.43 and we will shew you the interpretation. " 00:07:43.46\00:07:46.80 Now, doesn't that sound reasonable? 00:07:46.83\00:07:48.93 "You tell me what you dreamt 00:07:48.96\00:07:50.67 and I'll tell you what it means. " 00:07:50.70\00:07:52.90 That's not an unreasonable request... 00:07:52.93\00:07:57.97 but the king was not pleased with that. 00:07:58.01\00:08:03.01 They're trying to tell him 00:08:03.04\00:08:05.51 "Tell us what you dreamt... we'll tell you what it means 00:08:05.55\00:08:13.36 because that's our job. " 00:08:13.39\00:08:15.66 So, now we get some insight into the mental make-up 00:08:15.69\00:08:20.26 of a rash, hot-headed, absolute monarch 00:08:20.30\00:08:24.27 who has a bunch of employees 00:08:24.30\00:08:26.74 who are not only trying to save their jobs... 00:08:26.77\00:08:31.07 they're trying to save their necks. 00:08:31.11\00:08:33.14 "Tell me the dream... you will be rich and wealthy, 00:08:33.17\00:08:39.21 fail to tell me the dream... and I'll have you cut to pieces. " 00:08:39.25\00:08:46.02 "Please me... and you live... disappoint me... and you die. " 00:08:46.05\00:08:52.83 Pretty rough choice 00:08:52.86\00:08:55.20 but that is a choice that they were given 00:08:55.26\00:08:58.40 and their response is, 00:08:58.43\00:09:03.47 "What you're asking is impossible" 00:09:03.51\00:09:07.34 Here we have it in Daniel chapter 2 verse 10. 00:09:07.38\00:09:11.05 The Bible says, 00:09:11.08\00:09:12.41 "The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, 00:09:12.45\00:09:14.72 There is not a man upon the earth 00:09:14.75\00:09:17.35 that can shew the king's matter: 00:09:17.39\00:09:19.89 therefore there is no king, nor ruler, 00:09:19.92\00:09:24.36 that asked such a thing of any magician, 00:09:24.39\00:09:27.60 or astrologer, or Chaldean. " 00:09:27.63\00:09:30.40 They are saying, 00:09:30.43\00:09:32.73 "What you're asking is impossible. 00:09:32.77\00:09:36.27 Nobody asks that kind of thing, 00:09:36.30\00:09:39.77 we simply cannot do it, 00:09:39.81\00:09:42.44 we are paid to interpret dreams not read minds. 00:09:42.48\00:09:48.55 What you're asking is for a mind-reader 00:09:48.58\00:09:53.76 and we are not that. " 00:09:53.79\00:09:55.39 Daniel 2:11 "And it is a rare thing 00:09:55.42\00:09:58.79 that the king requireth, 00:09:58.83\00:10:00.76 and there is none other that can shew it before the king 00:10:00.80\00:10:04.37 except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh. " 00:10:04.40\00:10:07.97 They're basically saying, "We can't do this, 00:10:08.00\00:10:10.31 your request is unreasonable. " 00:10:10.34\00:10:14.04 And as you look at the request, it is unreasonable 00:10:14.08\00:10:17.51 but you're dealing with a man who doesn't care about reason 00:10:17.55\00:10:21.85 so the answer comes... the response comes in verse 12, 00:10:21.88\00:10:25.75 the Bible says, "For this cause the king was angry" 00:10:25.79\00:10:29.59 not only angry, he was very furious. 00:10:29.62\00:10:32.23 "and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon. " 00:10:32.26\00:10:36.70 This is a rash guy... 00:10:36.73\00:10:38.07 we're getting a picture of Nebuchadnezzar 00:10:38.10\00:10:40.54 as kind of a hot-headed guy who says... 00:10:40.60\00:10:43.17 who talks before he thinks 00:10:43.20\00:10:45.74 and who acts very, very rash 00:10:45.77\00:10:48.24 so, automatically, "you're all going to die" 00:10:48.28\00:10:50.35 "And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; 00:10:50.38\00:10:55.35 and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain. " 00:10:55.38\00:10:58.79 Now, here's what's interesting, 00:10:58.82\00:11:00.16 somehow 00:11:00.19\00:11:02.36 Daniel and the three Hebrew boys 00:11:02.39\00:11:05.66 get lumped in with the wise men of Babylon, 00:11:05.69\00:11:08.93 somehow they get lumped in with the astrologers 00:11:08.96\00:11:12.13 and the soothsayers and... 00:11:12.20\00:11:13.70 and they had nothing to do with that 00:11:13.74\00:11:15.20 in fact, the Jewish religion 00:11:15.24\00:11:16.67 specifically forbade that kind of activity 00:11:16.71\00:11:20.34 but in the minds of those who were doing the killing 00:11:20.38\00:11:25.25 and the minds of King Nebuchadnezzar 00:11:25.28\00:11:27.38 a wise man... is a wise man 00:11:27.42\00:11:29.62 whether you're one of my wise men 00:11:29.65\00:11:31.35 or you're a Jewish wise man, 00:11:31.39\00:11:32.79 everybody's going to die 00:11:32.85\00:11:34.26 and Ellen White tells us the killing actually had begun 00:11:34.29\00:11:37.73 and so, Arioch comes to Daniel 00:11:37.79\00:11:41.46 and he is coming to Daniel and the Hebrew boys to take his life 00:11:41.50\00:11:46.90 to take their lives... 00:11:46.94\00:11:48.27 Daniel goes to the king and gets a stay of execution. 00:11:48.30\00:11:53.98 He consults with Hananiah, 00:11:54.01\00:11:56.85 Azariah and Mishael... 00:11:56.88\00:11:59.68 you know them as Shadrach, Meshach and Obednego 00:11:59.71\00:12:01.42 they are people of God, now, here's the side bar 00:12:01.45\00:12:04.69 we talked about this last night, 00:12:04.72\00:12:06.96 "When you want to know the will of God, 00:12:06.99\00:12:11.19 one way is to seek council from people that you know know God!" 00:12:11.23\00:12:17.63 Amen. 00:12:17.67\00:12:19.07 Does that make sense? 00:12:19.10\00:12:20.44 Every Christian ought to have somebody in your life 00:12:20.47\00:12:26.27 that you know knows God 00:12:26.31\00:12:29.61 so that you can get counsel when you need it... amen. 00:12:29.64\00:12:33.92 Hopefully, it's your husband... 00:12:33.95\00:12:36.42 amen 00:12:36.45\00:12:37.95 or your wife... 00:12:37.99\00:12:39.35 amen 00:12:39.39\00:12:40.72 but if not, find somebody 00:12:40.76\00:12:42.62 hmmm... find somebody that you know knows God 00:12:42.66\00:12:46.70 who can pray with you when prayer time is needed, 00:12:46.73\00:12:50.90 who can cry with you when crying time is needed, 00:12:50.93\00:12:54.77 who can laugh with you when laughing time comes 00:12:54.80\00:12:58.64 someone that you know knows God 00:12:58.67\00:13:01.61 that you can take your problems to 00:13:01.64\00:13:04.55 and not have them on Facebook the next day. 00:13:04.58\00:13:08.15 You know what I'm talking about? " 00:22:56.71\00:23:01.84 God has made you a spectator to the history of the world. 00:23:01.88\00:23:09.68 Now this... this is a... this is a heathen king, 00:23:09.72\00:23:12.79 this is not an Israeli king, this is a heathen king. 00:23:12.82\00:23:15.86 Follow me, you have 42 kings 00:23:15.92\00:23:21.86 of the nation of Israel, 00:23:21.93\00:23:23.80 42 in total, 00:23:23.83\00:23:25.20 if you take out the first three, that's Saul, David and Solomon, 00:23:25.23\00:23:30.17 you got 39 kings, 00:23:30.21\00:23:32.24 after Solomon, you know the kingdom was divided 00:23:32.27\00:23:35.38 Rehoboam... Jeroboam... 00:23:35.41\00:23:37.75 so now you got Israel in the north 00:23:37.78\00:23:39.48 Judah in the south 00:23:39.51\00:23:41.38 ten tribes constituted Israel... 00:23:41.42\00:23:44.42 two tribes... really two tribes and a half 00:23:44.45\00:23:46.59 because you had Judah... Benjamin... 00:23:46.62\00:23:48.52 and you had some Levites there in the temple 00:23:48.56\00:23:52.66 so, of the Israel kings... there were 19, 00:23:52.69\00:23:56.70 of that 19... guess how many, the Bible says, were good kings? 00:23:56.77\00:24:02.94 Out of 19... 00:24:02.97\00:24:05.77 not one... 00:24:05.81\00:24:08.51 0 for 19... all bad, 00:24:08.54\00:24:11.55 now in Judah, you got 20 kings 00:24:11.58\00:24:15.38 19 men and praise the Lord, one woman, Molly, 00:24:15.42\00:24:22.39 you got one woman, her name was Athaliah 00:24:22.42\00:24:25.39 now I've got some bad news for you, 00:24:25.43\00:24:27.63 bad... very bad... 00:24:27.66\00:24:31.23 killed a lot of people at the very beginning... 00:24:31.27\00:24:33.80 bad way to start out your... your kingdom... six years bad... 00:24:33.84\00:24:36.91 of the 19 guys that were kings of Judah, 00:24:36.94\00:24:42.24 guess how many were considered good kings? 00:24:42.28\00:24:47.12 Only eight... 00:24:47.15\00:24:50.22 only eight... I'll give you their names. 00:24:50.25\00:24:53.29 You know them because they're so few in number, 00:24:53.36\00:24:55.66 Asa, Jehoshaphat, Joash, Amaziah, Azariah, 00:24:55.69\00:24:59.26 Jotham, Hezekiah... 00:24:59.29\00:25:00.63 and one we talked about last night... Josiah. 00:25:00.66\00:25:02.60 So out of... out of 39 kings, 00:25:02.63\00:25:06.63 only eight could the Bible commend, 00:25:06.67\00:25:09.54 all the others... the Bible says, 00:25:09.57\00:25:12.34 "they're evil in the sight of the Lord" 00:25:12.37\00:25:13.71 so, no wonder, when God wants to find somebody to work with, 00:25:13.74\00:25:17.45 He's got to leave Israel... He's got to leave Judah 00:25:17.51\00:25:20.62 and go to Babylon to find somebody that He can work with. 00:25:20.65\00:25:23.82 Pause. 00:25:23.85\00:25:26.35 Over 19... 00:25:26.39\00:25:28.86 and eight out of 39... 00:25:28.89\00:25:33.09 and really you could put Saul in the minus category, 00:25:33.13\00:25:37.77 David... he had his ups, he had his downs... 00:25:37.80\00:25:43.77 and Solomon started out good 00:25:43.81\00:25:46.47 and 300 wives and 700 girlfriends later, 00:25:46.51\00:25:50.85 his world got a little shaky 00:25:50.88\00:25:52.71 so God could not even find someone in His own... 00:25:52.78\00:25:58.92 of His own people... 00:25:58.95\00:26:00.92 so He's got to go to Babylon and latch on to a heathen king 00:26:00.96\00:26:08.03 you know, God will use whoever He can... 00:26:08.06\00:26:10.03 wherever He can... wherever He can find you. 00:26:10.07\00:26:11.93 If you don't speak, the rocks are going to cry out, 00:26:11.97\00:26:15.50 amen... 00:26:15.54\00:26:17.07 and if... if... if... if you don't get it done over here, 00:26:17.11\00:26:20.08 God's going to find somebody over there, 00:26:20.11\00:26:21.74 God is not beholden to anybody, 00:26:21.78\00:26:25.08 so, He's using now Nebuchadnezzar 00:26:25.11\00:26:27.45 and Nebuchadnezzar is not the first 00:26:27.48\00:26:29.58 and he certainly won't be the last, 00:26:29.62\00:26:31.65 he is making Nebuchadnezzar a spectator in history. 00:26:31.69\00:26:35.39 Here's what you saw, 00:26:35.42\00:26:37.26 we've got to get through this fast, 00:26:37.29\00:26:38.66 you saw a giant image, there it is on the screen, 00:26:38.69\00:26:40.43 90 feet tall... 27 meters tall, 00:26:40.46\00:26:42.96 and 9 feet wide... 2.7 meters wide, 00:26:43.00\00:26:46.63 that's what you saw, it was a statue. 00:26:46.67\00:26:50.34 Now, to get some... some sort of context, 00:26:50.41\00:26:54.04 the Statue of Liberty from the base 00:26:54.08\00:26:56.11 not the base... but the feet to the top of that torch 00:26:56.14\00:26:59.78 is a 111 feet tall, I said, from head to toe 00:26:59.81\00:27:05.02 but it's really from toe to torch... 00:27:05.05\00:27:07.52 111 feet tall. 00:27:07.56\00:27:10.23 Daniel's image probably came up to the top of the crown 00:27:10.26\00:27:16.06 of the Statue of Liberty 00:27:16.10\00:27:18.03 so, this is... this is... for that day and that time, 00:27:18.10\00:27:20.20 a... a... a massive image. 00:27:20.24\00:27:22.64 "What you saw... " Daniel says 00:27:22.67\00:27:26.17 "was excellent and awesome in form... 00:27:26.21\00:27:28.64 the head was of fine gold, 00:27:28.68\00:27:33.01 the chest and arms were of silver, 00:27:33.05\00:27:37.39 the belly and thighs were of bronze" 00:27:37.42\00:27:40.69 and that's bronze... not brass... 00:27:40.72\00:27:43.89 bronze is copper and tin... brass is copper and zinc... 00:27:43.93\00:27:47.06 this is bronze... 00:27:47.10\00:27:49.03 "the legs of iron 00:27:49.06\00:27:50.97 and the feet... a mixture of iron and clay. 00:27:51.00\00:27:56.40 Then later on, you saw a stone cut out without hands, 00:27:56.47\00:28:00.38 that stone hit the image on the feet, 00:28:00.41\00:28:02.81 dissolved it and filled the whole earth. " 00:28:02.84\00:28:07.15 Now the bombshell... 00:28:07.18\00:28:08.52 "You, O king, 00:28:08.55\00:28:10.49 are that head of gold. " 00:28:10.52\00:28:13.02 Now, that identified Nebuchadnezzar 00:28:13.05\00:28:15.86 as the head of gold but it also identifies us... 00:28:15.89\00:28:18.79 identifies for us a starting place for this prophecy. 00:28:18.83\00:28:23.06 We begin in 605 B.C. 00:28:23.10\00:28:25.70 the Babylonian Empire lasted 605 B.C. to 539 B.C. 00:28:25.73\00:28:29.14 now look at this, as you're looking on the screen 00:28:29.17\00:28:32.51 you see, the Babylon Empire really is not a very big empire 00:28:32.54\00:28:36.04 as empires go... this is not a lot of territory, 00:28:36.08\00:28:38.91 in fact, of the world empires, it is the smallest by far, 00:28:38.95\00:28:43.02 began in 605 B.C. at the Battle of Carchemish... 00:28:43.08\00:28:47.49 we talked about that last night ended at 539 B.C. 00:28:47.52\00:28:51.93 so that is the timeline for Babylon. 00:28:51.96\00:28:55.63 The Bible says, "You, O king, are the head of gold. " 00:28:55.66\00:28:59.23 I need to point out here, 00:28:59.27\00:29:01.60 when God says, "you" 00:29:01.64\00:29:03.91 he's not talking about Nebuchadnezzar, per se, 00:29:03.94\00:29:07.48 He is referring to Nebuchadnezzar 00:29:07.51\00:29:09.71 but more... He's referring to Babylon and the Empire. 00:29:09.74\00:29:14.22 God is not calling out kings, He's calling out kingdoms 00:29:14.25\00:29:18.69 so the "you" was not, 00:29:18.72\00:29:20.69 "You, Nebuchadnezzar are the golden boy" 00:29:20.72\00:29:23.76 it's, "your kingdom is this head of gold 00:29:23.79\00:29:26.73 but after you shall arise another kingdom inferior to you" 00:29:26.76\00:29:31.73 and the word "inferior" kind of caught me because 00:29:31.80\00:29:34.84 it's only used one time in the Bible... and that's the place, 00:29:34.90\00:29:38.37 it's only used that one time, 00:29:38.41\00:29:40.78 it has to do with earthiness 00:29:40.81\00:29:42.91 so, when we're talking about inferior kingdoms, 00:29:42.94\00:29:45.61 we're not talking about size because each successive kingdom 00:29:45.65\00:29:51.49 was larger in size than Babylon, 00:29:51.52\00:29:53.15 Babylon was, by far, the smallest. 00:29:53.22\00:29:54.79 Most scholars state they're talking about the opulence 00:29:54.82\00:29:58.59 of the capital city 00:29:58.63\00:29:59.96 because none of the kingdoms... 00:30:00.00\00:30:01.70 even Rome which had running water 00:30:01.73\00:30:03.67 and bathrooms and saunas, 00:30:03.70\00:30:05.83 none of them had the opulence of the city of Babylon. 00:30:05.87\00:30:10.57 So, the word is, 00:30:10.61\00:30:12.71 "You're the king... you're the gold... 00:30:12.74\00:30:14.71 but you're not going to be there forever, 00:30:14.74\00:30:16.64 inferior kingdoms are going to come along behind you. " 00:30:16.68\00:30:21.32 These metals that made up these next several kingdoms, 00:30:21.35\00:30:25.95 were less value but interestingly enough 00:30:25.99\00:30:29.59 they were harder than gold, 00:30:29.62\00:30:31.76 gold is really the softest of them all 00:30:31.79\00:30:34.86 and they increase in overall wealth. 00:30:34.90\00:30:38.07 Pause. 00:30:38.10\00:30:40.64 One of the things that we will see in the next little bit 00:30:40.67\00:30:44.74 and we've got so much to cover 00:30:44.77\00:30:47.08 God spent an inordinate amount of time 00:30:47.14\00:30:52.55 with King Nebuchadnezzar. 00:30:52.58\00:30:55.38 He did for Nebuchadnezzar 00:30:55.42\00:30:58.15 that which He did for no other of the ancient kings 00:30:58.19\00:31:03.16 and there's a reason for that, 00:31:03.22\00:31:05.16 we will see that in just a little bit 00:31:05.19\00:31:07.60 but God spent a lot of time with Nebuchadnezzar. 00:31:07.63\00:31:11.40 He didn't do that with... with Cyrus and Darius, 00:31:11.43\00:31:15.17 He certainly didn't do that with Alexander the Great, 00:31:15.20\00:31:18.51 He didn't do that with any other Roman Emperors 00:31:18.54\00:31:21.34 and by the time Rome came along, 00:31:21.38\00:31:23.21 those emperors were so decadent 00:31:23.24\00:31:25.01 and so full of debauchery that they were really... 00:31:25.05\00:31:28.68 you cannot say, "Beyond hope" 00:31:28.72\00:31:30.15 but certainly, their minds were not on the things of God. 00:31:30.19\00:31:33.72 You've got people like Caligula, Nero, Diocletian,Tiberius, 00:31:33.76\00:31:38.09 Commodus, Elagabalus... these guys of implacable cruelty 00:31:38.16\00:31:42.46 Elagabalus spent his life 00:31:42.50\00:31:44.27 in one orgy and social engagement to another 00:31:44.30\00:31:49.60 so, we don't see God putting in the work with these 00:31:49.64\00:31:53.41 as He did with Nebuchadnezzar and there is a reason for that 00:31:53.44\00:31:56.88 and you will see that as we go through this 00:31:56.91\00:31:59.11 so the "you" is Nebuchadnezzar, 00:31:59.15\00:32:01.25 but in a more profound way it is Babylon. 00:32:01.28\00:32:04.45 The book of Daniel is not an exposition on kings 00:32:04.49\00:32:08.26 but rather... kingdoms. 00:32:08.29\00:32:09.62 it is not an exposition on people 00:32:09.66\00:32:13.53 but rather, principalities and powers... 00:32:13.56\00:32:16.56 not necessarily... personalities. 00:32:16.60\00:32:19.37 So, let's walk through it, 00:32:19.40\00:32:21.20 let me add something very quickly, 00:32:21.27\00:32:23.41 just popped in my mind, 00:32:23.44\00:32:24.77 we call these "world empires" and there it's on the screen 00:32:24.81\00:32:29.81 but there were empires... other places in the world 00:32:29.84\00:32:33.55 you look at the Zhou Dynasty 00:32:33.58\00:32:36.35 there in... in China, 00:32:36.38\00:32:38.45 who's bigger than all of these empires... 00:32:38.49\00:32:39.82 there were other world empires... 00:32:39.85\00:32:42.56 it lasted from 770 B.C. to 256 B.C. 00:32:42.59\00:32:45.33 then you've got the Qin Shi Huang Dynasty. 00:32:45.36\00:32:50.37 In 1974, they were digging in China 00:32:50.43\00:32:53.44 and they ran across all these clay soldiers that they made, 00:32:53.47\00:32:57.54 this is a wonder of a find, 00:32:57.57\00:32:58.91 four football fields worth of clay soldiers 00:32:58.94\00:33:01.78 full life-size... each one done individually 00:33:01.81\00:33:04.75 8,000 clay soldiers... they were done during the Qin Dynasty 00:33:04.78\00:33:10.39 or the "Qwin" Dynasty... 00:33:10.42\00:33:11.75 and The Great Wall of China... 00:33:11.79\00:33:14.06 again, under this Dynasty, 00:33:14.09\00:33:16.29 so, we use the term "world empires" 00:33:16.32\00:33:19.16 but the truth is... 00:33:19.19\00:33:20.53 there were empires in other parts of the world. 00:33:20.56\00:33:22.86 The Han Dynasty... large dynasty 00:33:22.90\00:33:27.24 covering almost all of South-East Asia, 00:33:27.27\00:33:29.90 lasted for 400 plus years for 24 plus Emperors. 00:33:29.97\00:33:35.58 So, the great world empires existed in other places... 00:33:35.61\00:33:40.22 but the Bible investigates and this is important... 00:33:40.25\00:33:44.85 the Bible investigates those nations 00:33:44.89\00:33:47.49 that were directly affected by God and God's people. 00:33:47.52\00:33:50.99 There were other world empires 00:33:51.03\00:33:52.66 and one of the things that I'm going to be very interested 00:33:52.69\00:33:55.16 to sit down and talk to the Lord about in heaven 00:33:55.20\00:33:57.80 is 00:33:57.83\00:33:59.60 "how You managed to get the gospel 00:33:59.63\00:34:03.51 to places where man could not take it. " 00:34:03.54\00:34:05.67 I had the privilege of working on 00:34:05.71\00:34:08.28 a Production called, 00:34:08.31\00:34:11.15 "The Seventh-day Lessons from Lost Pages of History" 00:34:11.18\00:34:14.05 and one of the things that we found out 00:34:14.08\00:34:15.92 in working on that production is that, 00:34:15.95\00:34:17.72 "God... down through the ages has done some remarkable things 00:34:17.75\00:34:21.29 to get the gospel where people could not take it. " 00:34:21.32\00:34:23.69 There are legends in 00:34:23.73\00:34:26.33 the Inuit Community... 00:34:26.36\00:34:28.90 the Eskimo Community of two men in white 00:34:28.93\00:34:30.80 appearing and bringing them the Sabbath. 00:34:30.87\00:34:33.94 There are lessons in India... in South-East Asia... Asia... 00:34:33.97\00:34:41.28 even in the American-Indian culture 00:34:41.31\00:34:43.75 of God using angelic beings to bring the gospel to people 00:34:43.78\00:34:49.02 and when the settlers found them, 00:34:49.05\00:34:51.79 they were already keeping Sabbath. 00:34:51.82\00:34:54.49 Down in Zimbabwe... this walled complex called, 00:34:54.52\00:34:58.49 "Great Zimbabwe" 00:34:58.53\00:34:59.86 and the historians said, "There's no way in the world 00:34:59.89\00:35:04.27 that that kind of architecture 00:35:04.30\00:35:05.87 could be done there in Great Zimbabwe" 00:35:05.93\00:35:08.90 well, on the wall, 00:35:08.94\00:35:10.27 there are hieroglyphics proclaiming the Sabbath 00:35:10.31\00:35:13.17 so, God has done some things... 00:35:13.21\00:35:15.54 He's not waiting on man all the time 00:35:15.58\00:35:17.71 sometimes, He goes Himself and does it 00:35:17.75\00:35:19.78 and one of the things I'll be anxious to talk 00:35:19.81\00:35:21.65 to the Lord about in heaven 00:35:21.68\00:35:23.25 is the ways that He got the Sabbath into places 00:35:23.28\00:35:27.22 where mankind never went, 00:35:27.26\00:35:28.96 where the western culture never went, 00:35:29.02\00:35:32.09 so, these great dynasties existed but... 00:35:32.13\00:35:35.16 you know, one thing about God 00:35:35.20\00:35:36.83 and I praise the Lord for it, 00:35:36.87\00:35:38.50 God is fair... amen... 00:35:38.53\00:35:40.04 everybody will have a fair opportunity, 00:35:40.07\00:35:42.64 God's not trying to kick anybody out... 00:35:42.67\00:35:45.21 He's trying to get everybody in 00:35:45.27\00:35:47.64 amen and amen... 00:35:47.68\00:35:49.48 now we've got to move kind of quickly. 00:35:49.51\00:35:52.05 So, Daniel chapter 2 verses 36 to 38, 00:35:52.08\00:35:54.58 the Babylonian Empire lasted some 70 years 00:35:54.62\00:35:58.99 Nebuchadnezzar ruled for 40 of those years, 00:35:59.02\00:36:03.39 some scholars say 45... 00:36:03.43\00:36:05.09 I tend to believe... 40. 00:36:05.13\00:36:06.73 The text indicates that the position... 00:36:06.76\00:36:10.17 the status that Nebuchadnezzar had... that he enjoyed 00:36:10.20\00:36:13.47 was actively supplied by God, 00:36:13.54\00:36:16.77 in other words, God used Nebuchadnezzar... 00:36:16.81\00:36:20.31 a heathen king with a pagan background 00:36:20.34\00:36:23.81 but God used him. 00:36:23.85\00:36:25.18 He was the unquestioned and unrivaled ruler... 00:36:25.21\00:36:28.15 the unfettered power and authority of his country... 00:36:28.18\00:36:31.49 now, let me give you a political side bar very quick, 00:36:31.52\00:36:34.66 when Babylon fell, 00:36:34.69\00:36:36.52 Darius the Mede took over in 539 B.C. 00:36:36.56\00:36:40.50 he only reigned a few years and it was under his rule 00:36:40.53\00:36:46.23 that Cyrus the Great came into prominence 00:36:46.27\00:36:52.14 and we see that in Daniel 5:31, 00:36:52.17\00:36:56.44 Darius only ruled a very short time, 00:36:56.48\00:37:01.45 he is most famous... we're going to talk about this 00:37:01.48\00:37:04.95 in our coming meetings for signing a petition 00:37:05.02\00:37:08.86 that he could not take back 00:37:08.92\00:37:10.63 that was part of the laws of the Medes and the Persians... 00:37:10.69\00:37:13.66 he wasn't in there long 00:37:13.70\00:37:15.20 but he got himself hung up because of pride and ego 00:37:15.23\00:37:18.20 we're going to talk about that also. 00:37:18.23\00:37:20.14 Pause. 00:37:20.17\00:37:24.34 Nebuchadnezzar made a decree and when Daniel spoke with him, 00:37:24.37\00:37:29.98 he changed that decree 00:37:30.01\00:37:32.15 that couldn't happen in the Medo-Persian Empire 00:37:32.18\00:37:35.25 because once you made a decree, it could not be changed 00:37:35.28\00:37:37.45 and there's something really... 00:37:37.49\00:37:39.55 there's something really, really great about that 00:37:39.59\00:37:42.06 and we'll take a look at it when we get to Daniel chapter 9 00:37:42.09\00:37:44.89 you talk about the war between good and evil 00:37:44.93\00:37:48.36 and Christ and Satan, 00:37:48.40\00:37:49.73 and I just discovered a link between Daniel 9 and Daniel 6 00:37:49.76\00:37:53.67 that is... just... 00:37:53.70\00:37:55.04 you talk about God being in time... on time... 00:37:55.07\00:37:56.94 every time... just when you need him, 00:37:56.97\00:37:58.31 when you see this link it's going to blow your mind 00:37:58.34\00:38:00.88 because God really did some wonderful things 00:38:00.91\00:38:03.35 for... with... to... and through His people. 00:38:03.38\00:38:07.12 So, the following kingdom is Medo-Persia... 00:38:07.15\00:38:10.82 you got the Medo-Persian timeline... 00:38:10.89\00:38:12.52 I'm trying to go fast... I got some stuff I want to show you 00:38:12.55\00:38:14.59 that's really, really important, 00:38:14.62\00:38:15.96 you got the Medo-Persian timeline 538 to 331 00:38:15.99\00:38:20.43 followed by Greece 331 to 168, 00:38:20.46\00:38:24.50 now, the Medo-Persian timeline 00:38:24.53\00:38:28.47 is the time when the book of Esther was written 00:38:28.50\00:38:30.41 you know the story of the king and his wife, Vashti, 00:38:30.44\00:38:35.24 and how she was dismissed 00:38:35.28\00:38:36.81 and they found Esther and then you got the intrigue 00:38:36.85\00:38:40.92 with Mordecai and Haman, 00:38:40.95\00:38:42.42 that's during the Babylonian time... so... 00:38:42.45\00:38:45.85 not Babylonian time... the Medo-Persian time... 00:38:45.89\00:38:49.26 and you've got all of this intrigue going on there 00:38:49.29\00:38:52.59 and we'll touch on that in just a little bit 00:38:52.63\00:38:53.96 now you've got the Roman Empire, 168 B.C. to 476 A.D. 00:38:54.00\00:39:00.17 the largest empire as you can see, 00:39:00.20\00:39:02.64 the Roman Empire covered pretty much... all of Europe 00:39:02.67\00:39:05.21 and as you look right up there in the corner, 00:39:05.24\00:39:06.98 you see... it crossed over the English Channel 00:39:07.01\00:39:08.68 into Great Britain also 00:39:08.71\00:39:10.05 by far, the largest of the world empires. 00:39:10.08\00:39:13.52 They had learned to use bronze and copper and iron 00:39:13.55\00:39:18.95 and they were much more efficient in their war, 00:39:18.99\00:39:23.66 they were much more efficient in their conquering 00:39:23.69\00:39:28.30 and by the time we get to the Roman Empire, 00:39:28.33\00:39:32.10 they had learned to smelt iron 00:39:32.13\00:39:34.27 so the Romans had iron spears and iron armor 00:39:34.30\00:39:37.37 and iron shields and iron swords 00:39:37.41\00:39:39.01 the gladius... the short Roman sword... 00:39:39.04\00:39:41.84 much more mechanized... much more highly efficient 00:39:41.88\00:39:44.65 168 to 476 A.D. 00:39:44.68\00:39:49.68 This was a kingdom that was ruling the world 00:39:49.72\00:39:53.36 when Christ was born 00:39:53.39\00:39:55.32 and there is a beautiful little text in Micah chapter 5 00:39:55.36\00:40:00.60 and verse 2 that I want to go to. 00:40:00.63\00:40:04.33 Micah chapter 5 and verse 2, 00:40:04.37\00:40:08.54 we skipped over it... want to go back to that 00:40:08.57\00:40:11.94 the Bible says, "But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah" 00:40:11.97\00:40:15.28 Bethlehem means house of bread 00:40:15.34\00:40:18.28 Ephratah means fruitful 00:40:18.31\00:40:20.88 so, it's, "But thou, 'fruitful house of bread,' 00:40:20.92\00:40:24.49 though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, 00:40:24.52\00:40:28.06 yet out of thee shall come forth unto me 00:40:28.09\00:40:32.03 He that is to be ruler in Israel; 00:40:32.06\00:40:35.36 whose goings forth have been from of old, 00:40:35.40\00:40:38.77 from everlasting even to everlasting. " 00:40:38.80\00:40:42.14 So, it was under the Roman Empire 00:40:42.17\00:40:44.47 and we will talk about this extensively 00:40:44.51\00:40:46.64 in our coming meetings that Christ was born, 00:40:46.68\00:40:50.51 God even used an unwilling Caesar Augustus 00:40:50.55\00:40:54.22 to send out a decree 00:40:54.28\00:40:56.08 that took Mary and Joseph back to Bethlehem 00:40:56.12\00:40:59.32 from their home in Nazareth 00:40:59.35\00:41:01.99 to be registered... 00:41:02.02\00:41:03.76 I'll say again, "God will use anybody at any time 00:41:03.79\00:41:06.76 willing... and sometimes even unwilling... 00:41:06.80\00:41:10.53 to do His work and to save His people. " 00:41:10.57\00:41:14.24 Amen... 00:41:14.27\00:41:15.60 Audience: Amen. 00:41:15.64\00:41:16.97 Been to that city of Bethlehem, it is still a pretty modest town 00:41:17.01\00:41:21.41 it's in Arab hands now 00:41:21.44\00:41:23.11 but it is quite a... an interesting place... 00:41:23.14\00:41:28.02 So, Nebuchadnezzar now sees the feet and toes 00:41:28.05\00:41:32.95 and I want to spend our last few minutes 00:41:32.99\00:41:35.32 in this particular setting dealing with this. 00:41:35.36\00:41:38.89 "For they are part of iron and part of clay" 00:41:38.93\00:41:43.37 two materials that can never be mixed together 00:41:43.40\00:41:47.80 "some strong and some weak" 00:41:47.84\00:41:51.71 Daniel chapter 2 verses 42 and 43 00:41:51.74\00:41:55.81 the Bible says, "And as the toes of the feet 00:41:55.84\00:41:59.48 were part of iron and part of clay, 00:41:59.51\00:42:01.88 so the kingdom shall be partly strong... " 00:42:01.92\00:42:04.92 and I found a translation that says, 00:42:04.95\00:42:07.42 "partly broken" 00:42:07.46\00:42:08.99 the New King James says, "partly fragile" 00:42:09.02\00:42:13.50 the King James says, "partly weak" 00:42:13.53\00:42:16.50 strong and weak... 00:42:16.53\00:42:17.90 "And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with clay, 00:42:17.93\00:42:21.40 they shall mingle with the seeds of men: 00:42:21.47\00:42:25.14 but they shall not cleave one to another, 00:42:25.17\00:42:29.18 even as iron is not mixed with clay. " 00:42:29.21\00:42:33.15 Now this is a part of the Bible that we usually skip over 00:42:33.18\00:42:36.32 but I want to spend just a little time there 00:42:36.35\00:42:39.95 because the Bible says, 00:42:39.99\00:42:42.39 there will never ever be another world empire. 00:42:42.42\00:42:48.26 Amen. 00:42:48.33\00:42:49.76 You're never going to have one ruler again... 00:42:49.80\00:42:52.77 it's not going to happen... 00:42:52.80\00:42:54.77 even though down through the centuries 00:42:54.80\00:42:58.21 men have tried and tried and tried. 00:42:58.24\00:43:01.48 They tried to unite the world through force 00:43:01.51\00:43:05.11 or through coercion. 00:43:05.15\00:43:06.68 The first person who tried to do this was Charlemagne... 00:43:06.72\00:43:10.79 he tried to establish a new Holy Roman Empire, 00:43:10.82\00:43:15.86 he really wanted to unite all of Europe... he failed. 00:43:15.89\00:43:18.93 The second person was Charles the Fifth 00:43:18.96\00:43:22.56 Holy Roman Empire... Emperor rather... 00:43:22.60\00:43:25.97 he tried to unite the world... 00:43:26.00\00:43:28.17 he failed and died in a monastory. 00:43:28.20\00:43:31.54 The next person was Louis the 14th... 00:43:31.57\00:43:34.81 better known as the Sun King of France, 00:43:34.84\00:43:38.01 reigned 72 years 00:43:38.08\00:43:41.58 started five wars... including one war that lasted 30 years. 00:43:41.62\00:43:49.16 It's called: The Thirty Years' War 00:43:49.19\00:43:52.19 it was a religious war 00:43:52.23\00:43:53.80 because he tried to unite the world under the Catholic Church. 00:43:53.83\00:43:58.23 He is followed by, of course, Napoleon Bonaparte. 00:43:58.27\00:44:02.00 He tried to unite all of Europe. 00:44:02.04\00:44:05.34 He was defeated 00:44:05.37\00:44:06.71 he met his Waterloo and was poisoned 00:44:06.74\00:44:10.21 followed by Kaiser Wilhelm 00:44:10.25\00:44:14.18 German Emperor... King of Prussia... 00:44:14.22\00:44:17.02 he tried to unite the world... 00:44:17.05\00:44:20.29 succeeded in starting World War 1... 00:44:20.32\00:44:23.06 not he alone but he had a part in it 00:44:23.09\00:44:25.79 he failed... 00:44:25.83\00:44:27.23 followed by Adolf Hitler 00:44:27.26\00:44:30.17 he tried to unite the world in a 1,000-year Reich... 00:44:30.20\00:44:34.50 ended up committing suicide in a mountain chalet 00:44:34.54\00:44:38.77 with his girlfriend, Eva Braun... 00:44:38.81\00:44:41.71 followed by Benito Mussolini 00:44:41.74\00:44:45.15 who joined hands with Hitler 00:44:45.21\00:44:48.58 wound up being hanged by the Italian Underground. 00:44:48.62\00:44:53.19 The Bible says, "Though they try and try, 00:44:53.22\00:44:56.73 they shall not cleave or adhere one to another. 00:44:56.76\00:45:02.30 So now, someone came up with the idea... 00:45:02.33\00:45:06.97 "Let's unite through politics and economy" 00:45:07.00\00:45:11.91 and they tried politics and diplomacy... 00:45:11.94\00:45:15.78 "League of Nations" right after World War 1. 00:45:15.81\00:45:19.58 Limited success... failed... 00:45:19.61\00:45:22.58 followed by "United Nations" 00:45:22.62\00:45:25.55 existing today 00:45:25.62\00:45:26.96 I had... and baptized a Secretary 00:45:26.99\00:45:29.39 from the United Nations 00:45:29.42\00:45:30.79 and she told me... "All we do in that building is argue 00:45:30.83\00:45:36.06 nobody solves anything... nobody does anything... 00:45:36.10\00:45:39.73 we just argue... argue... argue... argue... " 00:45:39.77\00:45:43.17 I had the privilege of baptizing 00:45:43.20\00:45:44.97 the Ambassador to the United Nations 00:45:45.01\00:45:46.98 from the Island of Grenada, 00:45:47.01\00:45:48.34 the Honorable Franklyn O'Brien Dolland... 00:45:48.38\00:45:51.05 he's now a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church 00:45:51.11\00:45:52.75 he said, "When I joined the church, 00:45:52.78\00:45:55.42 I had to in my resignation at the United Nations 00:45:55.45\00:45:59.05 because all you do is argue... argue... argue... 00:45:59.09\00:46:02.62 and spy on each other 00:46:02.66\00:46:04.39 and I don't see myself doing that... and going to heaven. " 00:46:04.46\00:46:07.56 So, he quit... amen. 00:46:07.60\00:46:09.33 Pause. 00:46:09.36\00:46:11.40 That was followed by NATO 00:46:11.43\00:46:13.44 The North Atlantic Treaty Organization 00:46:13.47\00:46:17.11 a loosely-put-together group of countries 00:46:17.14\00:46:20.78 that are... said they're going to protect each other 00:46:20.81\00:46:23.88 but they argue as much as they agree 00:46:23.91\00:46:27.62 because man cannot go against the Word of God. 00:46:27.68\00:46:32.52 Now we've got... since 1994 November 1, 00:46:32.55\00:46:37.36 1993 rather... 00:46:37.43\00:46:39.03 the European Union... 00:46:39.06\00:46:41.23 amen. 00:46:41.26\00:46:42.76 28 States... 19 of which use the Euro 00:46:42.80\00:46:47.34 and they cannot seem to agree 00:46:47.40\00:46:52.34 because some of the States are strong 00:46:52.37\00:46:54.71 and some of the States are weak 00:46:54.74\00:46:56.44 and some of the States have money 00:46:56.48\00:46:58.28 and some of the States are broke... 00:46:58.31\00:47:00.08 and the strong States like Germany 00:47:00.12\00:47:01.82 are tired of footing the bill for the poor States like Greece, 00:47:01.85\00:47:04.89 so, the European Union 00:47:04.92\00:47:06.82 is a very shaky grouping of countries 00:47:06.86\00:47:11.13 and if you want to know if the European Union is a success, 00:47:11.16\00:47:16.56 I got one word for you... Brexit 00:47:16.60\00:47:19.83 England is out 00:47:19.87\00:47:22.47 and now the other States are thinking about getting out too 00:47:22.50\00:47:26.21 because the Bible says, 00:47:26.24\00:47:28.14 "Man shall not cleave 00:47:28.18\00:47:30.98 one to another" 00:47:31.01\00:47:32.51 they are not going to stick together. 00:47:32.55\00:47:34.12 They're not going to adhere. 00:47:34.15\00:47:35.92 Access Point: Unity through intermarriage 00:47:35.98\00:47:41.96 the Bible says, "they shall mingle with the seed of men. " 00:47:41.99\00:47:46.39 I want to spend a few minutes on this. 00:47:46.46\00:47:48.80 "They shall not adhere to one another. " 00:47:48.83\00:47:52.93 One of the ways that the countries of Europe 00:47:52.97\00:47:57.01 tried to defy the will of God was through intermarriage. 00:47:57.04\00:48:05.61 Now, I'm going to take you through some things, 00:48:05.65\00:48:08.05 let's take a look at Portugal. 00:48:08.08\00:48:10.42 This is just one small example. 00:48:10.49\00:48:13.92 You got Maria... she's a princess, 00:48:13.96\00:48:17.13 she's 26 years of age, 00:48:17.16\00:48:19.29 she marries her uncle, Pedro. 00:48:19.33\00:48:22.46 Pedro when he's crowned king takes the name... Because the Bible says, 00:59:02.20\00:59:03.94 "They shall not cleave one to another" 00:59:03.97\00:59:07.54 and no matter how you try it 00:59:07.58\00:59:09.88 and no matter how you cut it, 00:59:09.91\00:59:12.85 these things simply could not be. 00:59:12.88\00:59:15.78 I've got to skip over a lot of this material 00:59:15.82\00:59:18.35 because we've got... we've got to let you go 00:59:18.39\00:59:20.86 but in verse 44, 00:59:20.92\00:59:22.56 the Bible says, "And in the days of these kings 00:59:22.59\00:59:26.33 the God of heaven will set up a kingdom... " 00:59:26.36\00:59:29.60 now let me say this just very quickly before we close, 00:59:29.63\00:59:32.37 here's how good God is... here's how God ended this. 00:59:32.40\00:59:35.04 In the 1700s, after 500 years of inbreeding 00:59:35.07\00:59:39.27 the women had become so infertile 00:59:39.31\00:59:43.01 that they could not carry babies to term. 00:59:43.04\00:59:44.98 So it began to self-abort, they just couldn't carry them 00:59:45.01\00:59:48.52 and the men had inbred so much 00:59:48.55\00:59:50.62 that they could not father children 00:59:50.65\00:59:54.42 so after 5- 6- 700 years of inbreeding 00:59:54.49\00:59:58.06 the Habsburg Dynasty simply died out... 00:59:58.09\01:00:01.66 God just put an end to it. 01:00:01.70\01:00:03.13 The men could not father... the women could not mother... 01:00:03.16\01:00:06.53 and so, it just died... 01:00:06.57\01:00:07.90 "They shall not cleave one to another. " 01:00:07.94\01:00:11.37 But that's what we inherited 01:00:11.41\01:00:13.21 from them trying to go against God. 01:00:13.27\01:00:16.41 Let me close with this. 01:00:16.44\01:00:18.15 The Bible says, "In the days of these kings 01:00:18.21\01:00:20.85 the God of heaven will set up a kingdom, 01:00:20.88\01:00:23.52 which shall never be destroyed... " 01:00:23.55\01:00:25.65 can you say, "amen.
