very first line said,

And I was totally
influenced by that book.

To me, that book was the
gospel truth about dinosaurs.

All throughout it, millions
of years ago dinosaurs died out,

the last one died
'cause it got stuck in a tree,

'cause that's what
happened in the book.

So that's what I
always thought, you know?

But at the same time
though, I went to church

talked about dinosaurs.

So I really struggled
with the issue of dinosaurs

'cause here I am in church,

I'm being taught God
created everything in six days,

we have the Fall,
we have the Flood,

the Tower of Babel and so forth.

But then I go to
school and I'm taught,

well, dinosaurs died
out millions of years ago,

there was a Big Bang.

It was a struggle for me.

And all the way up
into my college years,

I struggled back and forth
with some of these questions

and dinosaurs was one of
'em that really hit my heart.

struggled with it.

I was teaching at the university

the local youth group

So what I did is I went to
a local Christian book shop

and I found this
one book that said,

And I grabbed
another Christian book

that dinosaurs
millions of years ago.

And I'm like, "They're
basically just teaching
00:04:39.64\00:04:41.28
"what the secular world says.
00:04:41.28\00:04:42.94
"They're just trying to mix
it with their Christianity."

And then I grabbed
this book by Ken Ham called,

"The Great Dinosaur Mystery."

So I didn't know who
Ken Ham was at the time.

- No. And I grabbed this book.

I remember looking
on the back, I'm like,

"Wow, this guy looks
like Abraham Lincoln."

Apparently he
was from Australia,

so totally different accent.

But I got that book.

And right off the bat, it says,

That makes sense. Of course.

So I bought that book,

I went home and I read
the whole book in one day.

And I mean, woo! I was excited.

got all these answers.

I went back to that bookstore,
I bought every copy they had.

get answers on dinosaurs,

those kids through it.

We went through that
book in that Sunday School.

doing it the other way around.

and what they thought

and they tried to
fit it in the Bible.

But with that comes
all the secular jargon

they try to put
that in the Bible.

That's not the way it works.
