I even forgot. (laughs) 00:02:15.60\00:02:19.27 Come on. I'm not a, I'm not a... 00:02:19.27\00:02:21.24 An axle? - [Man] An axle. 00:02:21.24\00:02:22.30 I think it was an axle. - [Man] Trunk axle. 00:02:22.30\00:02:23.67 I had to look for somebody else. What is it, you know? 00:02:23.67\00:02:25.57 This is a truck axle and it became this, a useful hammer. 00:02:25.57\00:02:29.84 Here's another one, another useful hammer. 00:02:29.84\00:02:32.41 But it didn't... 00:02:32.41\00:02:33.55 - That was also made out of a truck axle? 00:02:33.55\00:02:34.92 - It didn't get there just by sitting on the table. 00:02:34.92\00:02:38.05 You know, somebody had to take that thing 00:02:38.05\00:02:40.46 and put it in the fire and pound it 00:02:40.46\00:02:42.39 and put it in water and take it out and work it 00:02:42.39\00:02:45.66 and work it and work it, work it. 00:02:45.66\00:02:47.60 And that, God says He's the refiner. 00:02:47.60\00:02:50.67 - Right, He's the refiner's fire, 00:02:50.67\00:02:53.10 that none of us voluntarily wants to go into. 00:02:53.10\00:02:55.54 - Who wants to do that? 00:02:55.54\00:02:57.07 - But you have to, to have the impurities taken out of you. 00:02:57.07\00:03:00.34 - Yeah. - First of all, though, 00:03:00.34\00:03:01.94 someone had to have the eye to look at this thing. 00:03:01.94\00:03:06.48 - [Jim] I think I'll back up from you just a little bit. 00:03:08.62\00:03:10.15 - You picked it up with one hand, I'm going oh. 00:03:10.15\00:03:12.79 Someone had to look at this and go, and have the vision 00:03:14.32\00:03:17.86 that it could be something else. 00:03:17.86\00:03:19.89 - Something else. 00:03:19.89\00:03:21.26 - That it had not come to the end of its usefulness. 00:03:21.26\00:03:23.73 - They looked in there and saw (metal clanks) 00:03:23.73\00:03:26.60 (both laugh) 00:03:26.60\00:03:28.17 I'll start again. 00:03:28.17\00:03:29.50 They looked in there and saw, there's a hammer in there. 00:03:29.50\00:03:32.47 I can make a useful tool, you know? 00:03:32.47\00:03:34.94 And I think that's what God is looking for, 00:03:34.94\00:03:37.31 with each one of us, is to make us useful tools. 00:03:37.31\00:03:40.25 And the interesting thing is, 00:03:40.25\00:03:42.08 I'll set my Bible down for a minute, 00:03:42.08\00:03:44.19 not every tool is the same, 00:03:44.19\00:03:45.92 not everything is the same at all. 00:03:45.92\00:03:48.22 Matter of fact, look at this. 00:03:48.22\00:03:49.92 Now you recognize it. 00:03:49.92\00:03:50.96 - That is a hunking piece of wire. 00:03:50.96\00:03:53.09 - Yeah, yeah, cable. 00:03:53.09\00:03:54.36 - Cable. That's the right word. 00:03:54.36\00:03:55.60 - Heavy-duty cable. I mean, each... 00:03:55.60\00:03:56.80 - See how industrial I am. (laughs) 00:03:56.80\00:03:57.97 - There you go. 00:03:57.97\00:03:59.53 But you look at this and you think about it and okay, 00:03:59.53\00:04:03.71 I see these out in the woods all the time. 00:04:03.71\00:04:05.47 Loggers, you know, pull logs with them. 00:04:05.47\00:04:09.18 After a while they break, the ends fray 00:04:09.18\00:04:10.98 and they just leave them there. 00:04:10.98\00:04:12.28 - Oh, you can see that one fraying on the end right there. 00:04:12.28\00:04:14.68 - But an industrious person, 00:04:14.68\00:04:16.65 you know, they can do something with it. 00:04:16.65\00:04:18.42 I'm gonna sneak over here and grab the knife. 00:04:18.42\00:04:20.72 They can make a very useful tool. 00:04:21.82\00:04:23.69 - Then I'm going to hide behind the shield. 00:04:23.69\00:04:25.46 (both laugh) 00:04:25.46\00:04:28.13 - Now that's no fair, you're cheating. 00:04:28.13\00:04:29.70 - I love history. My eyes immediately went to this 00:04:29.70\00:04:32.30 and some of the armor they have everywhere. 00:04:32.30\00:04:34.54 - Yeah, but you can make so many things 00:04:34.54\00:04:37.41 and I think that's what God sees in the world. 00:04:37.41\00:04:39.67 - So, because I was admiring my shield, 00:04:39.67\00:04:43.75 the knife was made from the cable? 00:04:43.75\00:04:47.08 - Lookit, you can still see the individual strands 00:04:47.08\00:04:50.69 of the cable in there. 00:04:51.45\00:04:52.75 - [Janice] Oh my goodness, you can. 00:04:52.75\00:04:53.82 - [Jim] All these little individual strands. 00:04:53.82\00:04:55.02 Which means, an interesting thing to me is, 00:04:55.02\00:04:57.43 we don't completely lose everything. 00:04:57.43\00:05:00.70 You know, God simply transforms what's there 00:05:00.70\00:05:03.26 like a worm to a butterfly, right? 00:05:03.26\00:05:06.33 It's still the same creature, 00:05:06.33\00:05:08.24 but it becomes totally transformed. 00:05:08.24\00:05:10.04 One crawls on the ground, crawl through the mud, 00:05:10.04\00:05:13.27 the other one flies through the sky. 00:05:13.27\00:05:15.64 - There's another object lesson 00:05:15.64\00:05:17.41 that popped into my head looking at that, 00:05:17.41\00:05:19.85 where you can see the individual little wires 00:05:19.85\00:05:22.15 that are still embedded in there. 00:05:22.15\00:05:24.42 And it reminded me of the body of Christ. 00:05:24.42\00:05:27.26 All those little pieces that get forged together 00:05:27.26\00:05:30.49 to become something that's more useful. 00:05:30.49\00:05:32.39 - Yeah. Yeah. 00:05:32.39\00:05:33.73 And there's just so many tools we could pick up here. 00:05:33.73\00:05:36.40 You look at this, this did did not start out... 00:05:36.40\00:05:39.30 - Now I do need the shield. (laughs) I'm stepping aside. 00:05:39.30\00:05:41.54 - This did not start out as an amazing knife. 00:05:41.54\00:05:44.24 I mean, they've got more work to do 00:05:44.24\00:05:45.91 and filing and sharpening and things. 00:05:45.91\00:05:48.41 I think about, even with Jesus. Jesus was our example. 00:05:48.41\00:05:51.81 When he was baptized, what happened? 00:05:51.81\00:05:54.08 He came up out of the water and you think, 00:05:54.08\00:05:56.62 oh great, that's it, wonderful life now. 00:05:56.62\00:05:58.55 Go off, be a happy Christian. 00:05:58.55\00:06:00.82 Except there was a problem. 00:06:00.82\00:06:02.16 The Holy Spirit, it said, drove him into the wilderness. 00:06:02.16\00:06:05.56 What happened in the wilderness? 00:06:05.56\00:06:07.10 - It was not a vacation. 00:06:07.10\00:06:08.06 - It was not a vacation, no. 00:06:08.06\00:06:10.23 Devil pounds him and pounds him and pounds him 00:06:11.53\00:06:13.20 and hammers on him, all of these things. 00:06:13.20\00:06:15.30 But he withstood it through God's power 00:06:15.30\00:06:18.54 and he came out as totally victorious. 00:06:18.54\00:06:21.68 God's looking for that for you and me. 00:06:22.78\00:06:25.28 - In Scripture, it talks about Christ being, you know, 00:06:25.28\00:06:29.18 God is the potter and we're the clay, 00:06:29.18\00:06:32.19 and that is so much more of a gentle shaping process. 00:06:32.19\00:06:36.79 But there are verses that also talk about 00:06:36.79\00:06:39.83 a much harsher process that God puts us through. 00:06:39.83\00:06:42.86 We mentioned refiner's fire and fire is involved in this 00:06:42.86\00:06:46.57 and I'm losing which verse it is, but I know it's there 00:06:48.14\00:06:51.81 where God actually refers to himself as a hammer. 00:06:51.81\00:06:54.71 Where he's gonna beat us into what we need to be. 00:06:55.94\00:06:59.85 - There are so many Scriptures that talk about that. 00:06:59.85\00:07:02.52 We're going to get together with Dusty, 00:07:02.52\00:07:04.19 the blacksmith's here, pretty soon. 00:07:04.19\00:07:05.52 He's probably got most of those off the top of his head. 00:07:05.52\00:07:08.26 You know, being a blacksmith and being in this area, 00:07:08.26\00:07:11.99 I've got a feeling he's read those scriptures many times 00:07:11.99\00:07:14.50 and thought about that. You know? 00:07:14.50\00:07:15.60 So I'm looking forward to talking with him. 00:07:15.60\00:07:18.50 - About just what a master blacksmith does, 00:07:18.50\00:07:21.70 to get a finished product. 00:07:21.70\00:07:23.00 - What is that real process to get to that point, 00:07:23.00\00:07:25.77 to form something beautiful, something different, 00:07:25.77\00:07:28.38 something that's continues to be useful. 00:07:28.38\00:07:30.95 Really you could, you could look at this, 00:07:32.05\00:07:33.68 what you brought up for, you know, the, 00:07:33.68\00:07:35.98 the horseshoers rasp to file hooves, 00:07:35.98\00:07:39.15 it got dull and he threw it away. 00:07:39.15\00:07:41.62 The blacksmith looked at that 00:07:41.62\00:07:43.19 and saw another beautiful tool, you know? 00:07:43.19\00:07:45.63 And I think that's what God does with each one of us. 00:07:45.63\00:07:48.36 God is the God of second chances. 00:07:48.36\00:07:50.87 That's what really cool. 00:07:50.87\00:07:52.23 - You might think that you're washed up, beat up, useless 00:07:52.23\00:07:57.11 and God's eye sees something else in you 00:07:58.17\00:08:01.08 that you don't know is there. 00:08:01.08\00:08:03.21 - I love what he said. 00:08:03.21\00:08:04.31 He sees the end from the beginning 00:08:04.31\00:08:06.38 and I don't know how God does that, but he's eternal. 00:08:06.38\00:08:08.52 He steps in and out of time and he looks, 00:08:08.52\00:08:12.19 and he sees our ultimate end down there 00:08:12.19\00:08:15.59 'cause he's right there and then he comes back 00:08:15.59\00:08:17.79 and he looks at you and says, 00:08:17.79\00:08:18.86 okay, I need to fashion this, 00:08:18.86\00:08:20.70 I need to change this, I need to mold this 00:08:20.70\00:08:22.76 because I've got this beautiful thing 00:08:22.76\00:08:25.07 I'm going to take you toward, and he's incredible. 00:08:25.07\00:08:28.20 - I don't know about you, 00:08:28.20\00:08:29.54 but when I'm going through what I consider a trial by fire, 00:08:29.54\00:08:34.04 or I feel like, I'm just getting, you know, 00:08:34.04\00:08:36.58 hammered by life, we've all had those periods. 00:08:36.58\00:08:40.02 I don't take it very gracefully. 00:08:40.02\00:08:42.02 I tend to whine and it's the why me, you know, 00:08:42.02\00:08:44.79 why is this happening? 00:08:44.79\00:08:46.29 But what if the lumps of metal that blacksmiths work with 00:08:47.62\00:08:52.23 complained the whole time. 00:08:53.03\00:08:53.83 What are you doing to me? 00:08:53.83\00:08:54.93 Why are you allowing me in the furnace? 00:08:54.93\00:08:57.00 - Kicking and screaming and running away. 00:08:57.00\00:08:58.07 - 'Cause they can't see the end, obviously. 00:08:58.07\00:09:00.67 And sometimes we're a lot, 00:09:00.67\00:09:02.54 not a lot more useful than inanimate objects like this. 00:09:02.54\00:09:06.31 We don't have a whole lot more foresight 00:09:06.31\00:09:08.01 or maybe I'm just talking about myself, 00:09:08.01\00:09:10.15 but it would, it's good for us to remember 00:09:11.65\00:09:14.15 if we're going through a difficult time that, you know, 00:09:14.15\00:09:18.29 if I let God lead me through this, 00:09:18.29\00:09:21.62 I'm going to come out a lot stronger and a lot better. 00:09:21.62\00:09:24.36 - That's the key, I think, 00:09:24.36\00:09:25.66 to what they were talking about in the Bible, 00:09:25.66\00:09:27.40 rejoice in the fiery trials. 00:09:27.40\00:09:30.53 I don't want to rejoice in any fiery trials. 00:09:30.53\00:09:31.83 - On the surface that doesn't make sense, does it? 00:09:31.83\00:09:34.20 - No, not at all. 00:09:34.20\00:09:35.47 - What do you mean rejoice in a fiery trial? 00:09:35.47\00:09:37.64 - But as I begin gaining the vision of God, 00:09:37.64\00:09:40.04 as I began looking through God's eyes, 00:09:40.04\00:09:42.18 I begin seeing what he's got in store. 00:09:42.18\00:09:44.81 That's the amazing thing. 00:09:45.75\00:09:46.85 But why don't we head over, let's meet our... 00:09:46.85\00:09:49.72 - Talk to a real master blacksmith. 00:09:49.72\00:09:51.12 - Talk to the real master blacksmith, yeah. 00:09:51.12\00:09:52.72 - Okay. 00:09:52.72\00:09:53.62 - Hey Janice, how are you doing? 00:09:54.72\00:09:56.56 - Hey, you wrote another book. 00:09:56.56\00:09:58.43 - I did. 00:09:58.43\00:09:59.79 Had a burden on my heart and God helped me get it done. 00:09:59.79\00:10:02.13 - So, "The Plan Of Love". 00:10:02.13\00:10:04.17 What's it about? 00:10:04.97\00:10:06.07 - Well, it's really about God in eternity 00:10:06.07\00:10:08.60 saw everything that was going to happen here. 00:10:08.60\00:10:11.44 In His amazing love He says, 00:10:11.44\00:10:13.84 I'm going to take care of the problems. 00:10:13.84\00:10:15.31 I'm gonna take care of the situation 00:10:15.31\00:10:16.64 by giving my own life. 00:10:16.64\00:10:17.98 He did all that, but we've been lied to so much. 00:10:19.31\00:10:22.12 We don't see what God has planned for us, 00:10:22.12\00:10:24.29 what God is doing for us. 00:10:24.29\00:10:26.49 Matter of fact, the angel came down to Mary and said, 00:10:26.49\00:10:29.59 "You shall call his name Jesus 00:10:29.59\00:10:31.13 for he shall save his people from their sins." 00:10:31.13\00:10:34.00 Notice it wasn't in, but from. 00:10:34.00\00:10:36.50 - Where can people get the book? 00:10:36.50\00:10:38.13 - Hey, I'm glad you asked. 00:10:38.13\00:10:39.67 Folks if you'd like your own personal copy, 00:10:39.67\00:10:41.60 log on to talkingdonkeyinternational.org. 00:10:41.60\00:10:44.31 And oh please if you would send us a donation of $12. 00:10:44.31\00:10:47.31 - [Janice] Or more. 00:10:47.31\00:10:48.58 - [Jim] Or more, and we'll get you the book 00:10:48.58\00:10:50.35 and I'll be happy to sign it for you too. 00:10:50.35\00:10:52.21 Thank you so much. 00:10:52.21\00:10:53.21 (fire blazing) 00:10:56.85\00:10:59.42 (hammering) 00:11:02.22\00:11:05.03 (gentle music) 00:11:05.03\00:11:07.66 That's amazing. 00:11:18.84\00:11:19.74 Hello, Dusty. 00:11:21.14\00:11:21.98 - Hey. 00:11:21.98\00:11:23.08 - Thanks for letting us join you today. 00:11:23.08\00:11:24.98 - Keep that far away from me, but I love being in here. 00:11:26.31\00:11:29.42 I just don't like that. 00:11:29.42\00:11:30.69 - Yeah, don't stop. 00:11:30.69\00:11:31.79 I love watching you do that, you know. 00:11:31.79\00:11:32.89 - Well, I gotta let it heat just a second. 00:11:32.89\00:11:34.42 I got a second piece I can start here. 00:11:34.42\00:11:37.03 - So, you know, we've been talking about God as the 00:11:37.03\00:11:40.56 refiner. God is the one who takes the real hammer to change 00:11:40.56\00:11:44.50 us. Will you tell us a little bit about what you're doing 00:11:44.50\00:11:46.33 and why you do it? 00:11:46.33\00:11:47.60 - [Janice] Because I recognized immediately 00:11:47.60\00:11:49.64 with things that you and the guys made, 00:11:49.64\00:11:51.27 that a whole process of transformation is involved. 00:11:51.27\00:11:55.04 And we were seeing some of the spiritual applications, 00:11:55.04\00:11:58.21 but you have a much better idea 00:11:58.21\00:12:01.55 of what that transformation looks like, 00:12:01.55\00:12:04.02 both in a piece of metal and in our own lives. 00:12:04.02\00:12:06.89 - Well, it started out as I was just interested, 00:12:06.89\00:12:11.76 I enjoyed metal and working with my hands 00:12:11.76\00:12:14.93 and we got to a point where I got a chance to learn 00:12:16.23\00:12:20.67 and grow on this skill by a number of gentlemen 00:12:20.67\00:12:25.74 in different places here in the area, 00:12:26.84\00:12:27.68 Choo Choo Forge among others. 00:12:29.08\00:12:31.81 And they were kind enough to teach me as we went. 00:12:31.81\00:12:35.38 - It's just too close. (Janet laughs) 00:12:38.49\00:12:42.26 - I won't get you, I won't brand you but once. 00:12:42.26\00:12:43.99 - How hot is that furnace? 00:12:43.99\00:12:45.49 - We're running somewhere around 1,600 to 1,800. 00:12:45.49\00:12:48.80 - [Jim] You almost think about the three Hebrews 00:12:48.80\00:12:50.63 in the furnace, heated at seven times hotter. 00:12:50.63\00:12:54.04 Just out of curiosity as a blacksmith, 00:12:54.04\00:12:55.84 how hot do you think that furnace was? 00:12:55.84\00:12:58.11 - That is something I have really wondered 00:12:58.11\00:13:00.18 because especially since... 00:13:00.18\00:13:01.74 - Well, and then Nebuchadnezzar said, 00:13:01.74\00:13:03.14 heated seven times hotter than whatever it had been. 00:13:03.14\00:13:05.51 - Well, yeah, and that's something that I have, 00:13:05.51\00:13:07.42 I've not had a chance to research, 00:13:07.42\00:13:08.75 but in the thinking I'm also a welder 00:13:08.75\00:13:11.32 and you've gotta keep in mind that electric arc 00:13:11.32\00:13:14.12 is over 6,000 degrees, 00:13:14.12\00:13:16.62 which is supposed to be close to what the sun heat is. 00:13:16.62\00:13:20.33 Now, I'm not saying they got it that hot, 00:13:20.33\00:13:22.13 but we also have found out from history 00:13:22.13\00:13:25.57 that they knew a lot about this stuff 00:13:25.57\00:13:28.07 and were doing unbelievable things with this heat. 00:13:28.07\00:13:30.91 You gotta keep in mind too, that the seven, 00:13:30.91\00:13:32.91 the guys that threw Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in, died. 00:13:32.91\00:13:37.65 - From being that close. 00:13:37.65\00:13:38.75 - From being that close to that heat. 00:13:38.75\00:13:40.72 - Well, I can even, right here. 00:13:40.72\00:13:42.05 I'm glad Janice is on this side of me because it is hot. 00:13:42.05\00:13:44.95 - [Janice] (laughs) Thanks, thanks. 00:13:44.95\00:13:46.72 - [Dusty] Well, it's not uncommon to have no hair 00:13:46.72\00:13:48.32 on the back of my hands. 00:13:48.32\00:13:49.52 - [Jim] Really? 00:13:49.52\00:13:50.59 - It happens very quickly, very easily, 00:13:50.59\00:13:51.99 but yeah, I have often wondered 00:13:51.99\00:13:53.09 what that seven times hotter actually was. 00:13:53.09\00:13:56.23 And, it also says in there that Nebuchadnezzar 00:13:56.23\00:13:58.63 got as close as he dared. 00:13:58.63\00:14:00.77 So that tells you there had to be some serious 00:14:00.77\00:14:02.87 radiant heat on this. 00:14:02.87\00:14:04.67 What that is, it had to be well over two, 00:14:04.67\00:14:07.91 close to 3,000 degrees minimum in there 00:14:07.91\00:14:10.81 where those guys were walking. 00:14:10.81\00:14:12.48 And that literally almost makes steel start to disappear, 00:14:12.48\00:14:15.92 close to start to liquefying. 00:14:15.92\00:14:18.02 - [Both] So when... 00:14:18.02\00:14:19.39 - It's superhuman then, when these guys are walking around. 00:14:19.39\00:14:21.52 - [Dusty] Yeah. 00:14:21.52\00:14:22.62 - What does a piece of metal have to go through 00:14:22.62\00:14:26.19 from, you know, you look at it and you're going, 00:14:26.19\00:14:28.10 I could make something out of this. 00:14:28.10\00:14:30.57 How do you do it? 00:14:30.57\00:14:32.00 The reader's digest version. (Dusty laughs) 00:14:33.07\00:14:35.50 - You know, it's really interesting you use that 00:14:35.50\00:14:36.87 because there's so much to what it takes to make metal 00:14:36.87\00:14:40.24 is a lot of the same processes 00:14:40.24\00:14:41.94 as it is to actually do this. 00:14:41.94\00:14:43.91 What we've done is they have actually made the steel 00:14:43.91\00:14:46.68 and then we take pieces and look at them and say, 00:14:46.68\00:14:50.05 I wanna try this, or I think we can make this out of it. 00:14:50.05\00:14:52.82 It's very similar to clay. 00:14:52.82\00:14:54.19 The description in the Bible is about clay is very simple, 00:14:54.19\00:14:59.13 but that's what some artists do, 00:15:00.80\00:15:03.67 is they will actually take modeling clay, 00:15:03.67\00:15:05.37 use the same tools to do with that, 00:15:05.37\00:15:08.80 so they know when they come to the steel, 00:15:08.80\00:15:10.74 what it's gonna do in the heat and how it's gonna react 00:15:10.74\00:15:13.31 and have a good idea where they're started with it 00:15:13.31\00:15:15.31 so that it gets actually the same thing. 00:15:15.31\00:15:17.18 It's just that it takes more force, more energy, more heat. 00:15:17.18\00:15:21.98 And that tells us that we are probably further away 00:15:21.98\00:15:24.59 from Christ than if we were more like clay. 00:15:24.59\00:15:28.39 - Pick up an example. Let's say, 00:15:29.82\00:15:31.89 let's say that truck axle I picked up, 00:15:31.89\00:15:34.93 how do you end up, real briefly, 00:15:34.93\00:15:36.77 but with that truck axle to a beautiful knife? 00:15:36.77\00:15:40.17 What do you have to go through? 00:15:40.17\00:15:41.90 What it's have to go through actually? 00:15:41.90\00:15:43.71 - Well, for the knife, we would cut the, 00:15:43.71\00:15:45.91 we would start flattening it out, shaping it. 00:15:45.91\00:15:48.71 First thing we would do once we got close 00:15:48.71\00:15:50.35 would be to kneel it and put it, get it very hot, 00:15:50.35\00:15:53.15 put it in the sand and let it cool down, 00:15:53.15\00:15:56.22 finish shaping it. 00:15:56.22\00:15:57.32 Then we would sand it, grind it, that process. 00:15:57.32\00:16:01.39 - Gotta interrupt you. 00:16:01.39\00:16:02.49 I'm thinking, why put it in the sand? 00:16:02.49\00:16:03.59 Why not, you've got a thing of water here, 00:16:03.59\00:16:05.59 why not put it in the water? 00:16:05.59\00:16:06.90 - Well, you put it in the water, it tightens everything up. 00:16:06.90\00:16:11.10 The crystalline structure starts to get real tight, 00:16:11.10\00:16:13.34 it'll be brittle. 00:16:13.34\00:16:14.84 In fact, I got something I think we can do that with. 00:16:16.24\00:16:19.04 It's a file, which is fairly high. 00:16:20.14\00:16:22.58 High carbon. 00:16:25.78\00:16:26.68 I put it, quenched it in water. 00:16:28.68\00:16:30.69 (metal being tapped) 00:16:30.69\00:16:33.82 That should've bent, instead it broke. 00:16:38.53\00:16:41.23 - So when God talks about really being the master 00:16:42.60\00:16:45.47 and the master blacksmith, 00:16:45.47\00:16:47.07 he knows exactly how much heat each one can take 00:16:47.07\00:16:50.57 and what it takes to cool down and refine us. 00:16:50.57\00:16:53.61 - Oh, definitely, not only individually, 00:16:53.61\00:16:55.91 but he knows that as far as individual, 00:16:55.91\00:17:00.98 but as a church and not only as a church, 00:17:02.08\00:17:04.49 but as a church body and how to get the message across. 00:17:04.49\00:17:07.32 You know, last night when we were here working together, 00:17:09.19\00:17:11.46 you saw how we were pounding 00:17:11.46\00:17:13.36 and how we had to work together. 00:17:13.36\00:17:15.00 - [Janice] Right. It took a whole team of you 00:17:16.06\00:17:17.40 to beat whatever that was into submission. 00:17:17.40\00:17:20.40 - [Dusty] And it takes time, but it took a lot, 00:17:20.40\00:17:22.47 but there was also a lot of coordination and understanding 00:17:22.47\00:17:25.64 and making sure that we didn't hit each other 00:17:25.64\00:17:28.51 or hit the anvil, which would damage it potentially 00:17:29.84\00:17:31.95 as well as other things. 00:17:31.95\00:17:33.21 - Now, I'm sure as a blacksmith, 00:17:35.38\00:17:37.62 you have looked at many Bible texts 00:17:37.62\00:17:39.42 that refer to God in that manner. 00:17:39.42\00:17:41.76 Is there any, those that jump out at you 00:17:41.76\00:17:44.36 that say, these are special to me? 00:17:44.36\00:17:46.56 - Well, one that comes out quite often, 00:17:46.56\00:17:49.03 both the Bible and Ellen White refer to it, 00:17:50.07\00:17:53.40 is being put in the fire to know 00:17:53.40\00:17:56.97 what kind of person you're gonna be, 00:17:56.97\00:17:59.17 what kind of your character is, 00:17:59.17\00:18:00.44 because when you go in the heat, 00:18:00.44\00:18:02.64 depending on how it reacts, especially when you get out, 00:18:02.64\00:18:05.35 you're gonna start to know and see how it responds 00:18:05.35\00:18:08.52 to where if I'da just done that with that file, 00:18:08.52\00:18:12.12 it would've kept breaking, it wouldn't have smoothed out 00:18:12.12\00:18:15.42 and moved like I wanted it to. 00:18:15.42\00:18:17.06 Gonna need to keep straightening there. 00:18:18.16\00:18:19.76 But that file would have just broken in pieces. 00:18:21.16\00:18:25.03 It would've just kept breaking because I had pulled it out 00:18:26.40\00:18:29.60 and put it in that water and quenched it. 00:18:29.60\00:18:31.24 So it's uptight. 00:18:31.24\00:18:32.24 That kneeling makes us soft, pliable, 00:18:33.34\00:18:38.48 much easier as far as steel goes. 00:18:39.55\00:18:40.95 - So there's a process that you actually call kneeling? 00:18:40.95\00:18:44.62 - [Dusty] A kneeling, yes. 00:18:44.62\00:18:45.75 - I kept thinking I had to have been, you know, 00:18:45.75\00:18:46.79 mishearing you because of the kneeling, 00:18:46.79\00:18:48.79 you're kneeling the metal. 00:18:48.79\00:18:49.82 - [Dusty] Although that helps, 00:18:49.82\00:18:50.86 - But...(Dusty laughs) 00:18:50.86\00:18:52.93 - [Jim] Yeah, very good ploy. 00:18:52.93\00:18:54.20 - Very good ploy without actually realizing it. 00:18:54.20\00:18:56.53 - Another obvious object lesson in this place 00:18:56.53\00:19:01.37 that kneeling makes it more softer and more pliable. 00:19:01.37\00:19:05.31 - Yeah. Really good point. 00:19:05.31\00:19:07.24 Is it my imagination? Look what that's turning out to be. 00:19:07.24\00:19:08.91 - That's turning into a cross. 00:19:08.91\00:19:10.61 - [Jim] Yeah. 00:19:10.61\00:19:12.41 (hammering) 00:19:12.41\00:19:13.82 - Yeah, there isn't, you know, 00:19:13.82\00:19:15.18 you guys talked about two over there on the table. 00:19:15.18\00:19:17.59 I noticed that you had a piece of cable held up. 00:19:17.59\00:19:20.69 And when you look at that and you may have mentioned 00:19:20.69\00:19:22.69 all those different little wires, that's like the church. 00:19:22.69\00:19:26.39 - I did. It naturally came to me 00:19:26.39\00:19:28.53 that you have all the individual pieces 00:19:28.53\00:19:31.30 that come together to create something strong and useful. 00:19:31.30\00:19:34.24 - Well, how much do you think one of those little wires 00:19:34.24\00:19:36.30 would hold by itself? 00:19:36.30\00:19:37.51 A fair amount, but you know, 00:19:38.31\00:19:39.57 but when you start adding those all together 00:19:39.57\00:19:41.68 and if you notice they had not only each individual wire, 00:19:41.68\00:19:44.41 but then you had groups of wires. 00:19:44.41\00:19:46.55 Talk to go back to small groups 00:19:47.35\00:19:48.72 like we talked about a little bit last night. 00:19:48.72\00:19:50.42 - They hold up entire bridges, right? 00:19:50.42\00:19:52.32 - Yeah. You're talking about holding bridges. 00:19:52.32\00:19:54.76 You're talking about holding ski trams, 00:19:54.76\00:19:58.89 you know, all kinds of different things. 00:20:00.03\00:20:02.50 And it's something that is just really, 00:20:02.50\00:20:06.57 really been interesting to learn and understand it more. 00:20:07.90\00:20:10.24 It's opened the Bible even more to me 00:20:10.24\00:20:12.57 in ways that I didn't understand 00:20:12.57\00:20:15.31 because of doing this as a hobby 00:20:15.31\00:20:17.01 and learning about it and what it does and doesn't do. 00:20:17.01\00:20:19.95 - I thought of you, because I thought 00:20:19.95\00:20:22.08 I wasn't in the shop more than a few minutes 00:20:22.08\00:20:24.72 and I'm seeing object lessons 00:20:24.72\00:20:26.92 and you spending all the time you have, 00:20:26.92\00:20:29.46 all the years you have, 00:20:29.46\00:20:30.96 have to have seen even more, 00:20:30.96\00:20:32.76 have to come to a much deeper understanding 00:20:32.76\00:20:35.73 of some of those Bible verses that talk about God 00:20:35.73\00:20:39.97 as a hammer and a refiner. 00:20:39.97\00:20:41.64 - Well, not only the hammer and the refiner, 00:20:41.64\00:20:43.84 but it talks too about the gold and the heat and the flux 00:20:43.84\00:20:48.51 and all the things that it goes into the silver. 00:20:48.51\00:20:51.11 And they call a blacksmith a blacksmith 00:20:51.11\00:20:53.35 because they use black metal, 00:20:53.35\00:20:55.72 Goldsmith because they use gold, silver because of silver, 00:20:55.72\00:20:58.42 but a lot of us the same thing, it's different. 00:20:58.42\00:21:00.32 Copper Smith is different. 00:21:00.32\00:21:01.79 And each of those metals respond differently 00:21:01.79\00:21:03.79 and handle differently. 00:21:03.79\00:21:05.29 - You mentioned the silver and all the time I was thinking 00:21:06.66\00:21:09.06 I heard, and you can tell me if this story rings true. 00:21:09.06\00:21:12.47 This lady went into this silversmith 00:21:12.47\00:21:15.90 and talked to him about the process. 00:21:15.90\00:21:18.07 So we talked about the heating and the cooling, 00:21:18.07\00:21:20.11 how to get rid of all the impurities. 00:21:20.11\00:21:22.31 The story went on quite a while in the explanation. 00:21:22.31\00:21:24.98 And then she started to walk out and she came back and said, 00:21:24.98\00:21:27.25 well, how do you know when it's truly finished? 00:21:27.25\00:21:30.35 When you're all done? 00:21:30.35\00:21:31.69 He said, when I can see my image reflected in the silver. 00:21:31.69\00:21:34.62 Wow, that's Christ, isn't it, you know. 00:21:35.76\00:21:38.03 He's looking to reflect himself in us. 00:21:38.03\00:21:40.23 - Oh, definitely. 00:21:40.23\00:21:42.00 And there's, there, yeah. 00:21:42.00\00:21:43.33 If you've ever watched silver being melted, 00:21:43.33\00:21:45.80 when it gets close to when it's being purified, 00:21:45.80\00:21:49.67 it is very, very close to a mirror in the top of that, 00:21:49.67\00:21:53.94 you know, on the very top of this melting area. 00:21:55.94\00:21:58.25 But if you watch, copper does the same thing, silver, 00:21:58.25\00:22:01.42 they get very shiny, very well-placed in how it goes. 00:22:01.42\00:22:06.32 And there's much to it, you know, 00:22:06.32\00:22:10.49 even in the molecular structure of steel there's messages. 00:22:10.49\00:22:15.53 You know, the more heat and the more times we cycle, 00:22:16.87\00:22:18.23 when I say cycle, we bring it up to more than red hot, 00:22:18.23\00:22:21.44 put it back in the furnace 00:22:21.44\00:22:22.80 and then bring it back out to magnetic, 00:22:23.87\00:22:25.81 cool it down to magnetic, and then put it back in, 00:22:25.81\00:22:28.48 that breaks down the actual small structure 00:22:28.48\00:22:31.61 to smaller and smaller molecules. 00:22:31.61\00:22:34.32 And it also helps move the carbon, 00:22:34.32\00:22:36.08 which holds an edge or toughens the steel 00:22:36.08\00:22:39.32 to the outside of the molecule 00:22:39.32\00:22:40.89 and that's just a small explanation. 00:22:42.39\00:22:45.59 You start getting into specialties 00:22:45.59\00:22:46.83 and it can go even crazier. 00:22:46.83\00:22:49.03 - There's another aspect of transformation, oops, 00:22:49.03\00:22:52.97 that I thought of as well. 00:22:52.97\00:22:55.24 Because as fascinating as it is to watch you transforming 00:22:55.24\00:22:58.91 whatever chunk of metal you started with, 00:22:58.91\00:23:01.11 you work with a lot of young men and women. 00:23:02.21\00:23:07.28 I met a female one last night. 00:23:08.08\00:23:09.38 You're helping to transform them, 00:23:11.39\00:23:14.32 not just transforming metal, you're transforming people. 00:23:14.32\00:23:19.39 And I suspect that some of that transformation 00:23:20.50\00:23:23.77 goes both directions. 00:23:23.77\00:23:25.20 - Well, thank you for that compliment, 00:23:25.20\00:23:27.04 but I'm not the one transforming. 00:23:27.04\00:23:29.50 I'm just the tool. 00:23:30.41\00:23:32.14 - [Janice] Okay. 00:23:32.14\00:23:33.24 - God's doing the transformation. 00:23:33.24\00:23:34.81 He's using me and the skills and the things 00:23:34.81\00:23:37.85 that he's given me and the abilities that he has made in 00:23:37.85\00:23:42.92 me. He knew before I was ever knit what I was capable of, 00:23:44.29\00:23:47.36 and he chose that. 00:23:47.36\00:23:48.49 I'm not a person that has a huge education. 00:23:48.49\00:23:51.86 I've struggled with education and other things, 00:23:51.86\00:23:55.26 but hands, working with my hands, 00:23:55.26\00:23:56.97 and thinking outside the box 00:23:56.97\00:23:59.63 has been something that's been very good for me 00:23:59.63\00:24:01.10 and I've done well with it. 00:24:01.10\00:24:02.44 And so God has actually used that to work with young people. 00:24:02.44\00:24:04.84 I've actually worked with young people most of my life 00:24:04.84\00:24:07.74 in one way or another. 00:24:07.74\00:24:09.18 - Just a minute, I've gotta interrupt. 00:24:09.18\00:24:10.38 We're almost out of time. 00:24:10.38\00:24:11.85 You know how I always... 00:24:11.85\00:24:13.15 - You're interrupting me again. 00:24:13.15\00:24:14.38 - Yeah, one more time. 00:24:14.38\00:24:16.15 We needed to get to the... 00:24:16.15\00:24:17.52 I saw this, and only in about a minute, actually. 00:24:17.52\00:24:20.59 Can you tell us why you're working on this 00:24:20.59\00:24:22.09 and what you're doing? 00:24:22.09\00:24:23.39 - This was one of the first things I did, 00:24:23.39\00:24:26.39 was I started from the second "Sonrise", 00:24:26.39\00:24:28.40 thinking of what would it be like 00:24:28.40\00:24:29.53 to have a crucifixion spike? 00:24:29.53\00:24:31.00 And I didn't realize when I started what it would do. 00:24:32.37\00:24:34.60 It got emotional. 00:24:34.60\00:24:35.50 It still does today because you think about this, 00:24:36.91\00:24:40.51 those guys made this with a purpose. 00:24:40.51\00:24:42.64 The square edges on this cause more pain and injury. 00:24:42.64\00:24:47.18 Square is easier to punch through a bone 00:24:47.18\00:24:50.72 and hold than round, 00:24:50.72\00:24:52.82 but yet Christ didn't die from the pain from this spike. 00:24:54.16\00:24:57.49 He died from the pain from our rejection 00:24:58.56\00:25:01.40 or possible rejection. 00:25:01.40\00:25:02.73 That's, that, that affected me more 00:25:03.97\00:25:06.30 and I never thought that that would happen 00:25:06.30\00:25:07.87 pounding on a piece of steel, 00:25:07.87\00:25:09.20 the thought process would affect me in that way. 00:25:09.20\00:25:12.14 - Dusty, thank you so much today. 00:25:12.14\00:25:13.54 And folks, the nails that Christ took on the cross, 00:25:13.54\00:25:18.75 He did it for us, you know, for all of us. 00:25:19.85\00:25:22.88 And He wants to refine us, 00:25:22.88\00:25:24.22 He wants to change us into his image, after his likeness. 00:25:24.22\00:25:27.66 Pretty incredible isn't it? 00:25:27.66\00:25:29.36 - Well, there's one more thing. 00:25:29.36\00:25:31.73 Here's the ultimate tool. 00:25:31.73\00:25:33.40 - We'll look at that. Is it cool? (all laugh) 00:25:33.40\00:25:35.00 - [Dusty] Yes, it's cool. 00:25:35.00\00:25:36.33 - Look at that. So you started out with a piece of metal 00:25:36.33\00:25:38.53 and we ended up with the cross. 00:25:38.53\00:25:40.10 - What you just saw through this, is that I did that. 00:25:40.10\00:25:42.90 That one I made previous 00:25:42.90\00:25:44.17 and there's the finished. (Jim and Janice laugh nervously) 00:25:50.85\00:25:52.91 You're okay, I gotcha. (all laugh) 00:25:52.91\00:25:54.95 - Now, that's amazing. 00:25:54.95\00:25:56.32 Folks, look at the cross. 00:25:56.32\00:25:58.75 Jesus Christ will change you. 00:25:58.75\00:26:01.09 (upbeat music) (skis shush) 00:26:06.59\00:26:09.56 - Hey everyone. 00:26:09.56\00:26:10.90 Jim Ayer here for Talking Donkey International. 00:26:10.90\00:26:12.70 You can rest assured that when you follow Talking Donkey, 00:26:12.70\00:26:15.67 we're going to take you someplace in the world, 00:26:15.67\00:26:17.44 not in a stuffy old studio. 00:26:17.44\00:26:19.54 But if you've missed one of our programs, 00:26:19.54\00:26:21.61 although we broadcast all over the world, 00:26:21.61\00:26:23.78 you can go right to our website, 00:26:23.78\00:26:24.98 talkingdonkeyinternational.org 00:26:24.98\00:26:27.28 and check out some of our programs right there. 00:26:27.28\00:26:28.85 And thank you so much for your support. 00:26:28.85\00:26:31.75 (gentle music) 00:26:31.75\00:26:34.49 - Hey Janice, how are you doing? 00:26:37.56\00:26:39.43 - Hey, you wrote another book. 00:26:39.43\00:26:41.23 - I did. 00:26:41.23\00:26:42.60 Had a burden on my heart and God helped me get it done. 00:26:42.60\00:26:44.97 - So, "The Plan Of Love". 00:26:44.97\00:26:47.00 What's it about? 00:26:47.80\00:26:48.90 - Well, it's really about God in eternity 00:26:48.90\00:26:51.44 saw everything that was going to happen here. 00:26:51.44\00:26:54.28 In His amazing love He says, 00:26:54.28\00:26:56.71 I'm going to take care of the problems. 00:26:56.71\00:26:58.18 I'm gonna take care of the situation 00:26:58.18\00:26:59.48 by giving my own life. 00:26:59.48\00:27:00.85 He did all that, but we've been lied to so much. 00:27:02.18\00:27:04.95 We don't see what God has planned for us, 00:27:04.95\00:27:07.12 what God is doing for us. 00:27:07.12\00:27:09.32 Matter of fact, the angel came down to Mary and said, 00:27:09.32\00:27:12.39 "You shall call his name Jesus 00:27:12.39\00:27:13.96 for he shall save his people from their sins". 00:27:13.96\00:27:16.83 Notice it wasn't in, but from. 00:27:16.83\00:27:19.20 - Where can people get the book? 00:27:19.20\00:27:20.84 Hey, I'm glad you asked. 00:27:20.84\00:27:22.40 Folks, if you'd like your own personal copy, 00:27:22.40\00:27:24.34 log on to talkingdonkeyinternational.org. 00:27:24.34\00:27:27.04 And oh please, if you would send us a donation of $12. 00:27:27.04\00:27:30.18 - [Janice] Or more. 00:27:30.18\00:27:31.28 - [Jim] Or more, and we'll get you the book 00:27:31.28\00:27:33.08 and I'll be happy to sign it for you too. 00:27:33.08\00:27:34.92 Thank you so much. 00:27:34.92\00:27:35.88 (gentle music) 00:27:39.15\00:27:41.89 Thank you for watching. 00:27:43.36\00:27:44.76 Join us again for another exciting "Country Wisdom". 00:27:44.76\00:27:46.70 - See you next time. 00:27:46.70\00:27:47.76 (gentle music) 00:27:48.76\00:27:51.50
