Hello and welcome once again to Coronavirus Report. 00:00:10.61\00:00:13.88 I'm C.A. Murray, and I'm joined by Pastor Stephen Bohr, 00:00:13.98\00:00:17.25 the principle speaker and the president of Secrets Unsealed. 00:00:17.28\00:00:22.82 Pastor, good to have you here as always. 00:00:23.02\00:00:24.69 We know you've got a lot of questions 00:00:25.35\00:00:26.69 and a lot of things to talk about. 00:00:26.72\00:00:28.66 So good to have you here. 00:00:28.69\00:00:30.03 Amen. Good to be here. 00:00:30.06\00:00:31.39 And our principle resource person happens to also be 00:00:31.43\00:00:34.43 the chairman of our board. 00:00:34.46\00:00:35.80 So he tells us all what to do. 00:00:35.83\00:00:37.57 And that's Dr. Milton Teske. 00:00:37.60\00:00:39.13 Doctor, good to have you here once again. 00:00:39.17\00:00:40.80 It's good to be here. 00:00:40.84\00:00:42.17 As we mentioned some time ago, he is the health office 00:00:42.20\00:00:45.87 for Kings County. 00:00:45.91\00:00:47.24 - Is that correct? - Yes. 00:00:47.28\00:00:48.61 Which is the next county over or two counties over? 00:00:48.64\00:00:50.35 - Next one over. - Next one over, alright. 00:00:50.38\00:00:52.35 And he also works with the CDC and a number of doctors 00:00:52.38\00:00:56.62 and other healthcare practitioners across this state, 00:00:56.65\00:00:59.75 and really across the country. 00:00:59.79\00:01:01.56 They put their heads together and try to do the very best 00:01:01.59\00:01:04.46 they can to keep us healthy and to give us information. 00:01:04.49\00:01:08.23 And that's what this program is all about. 00:01:08.26\00:01:09.83 It is about disseminating information to try to keep 00:01:10.03\00:01:13.23 you healthy if you are healthy, 00:01:13.27\00:01:14.90 try to keep you well if you are well, 00:01:14.94\00:01:17.04 and if you're a little under weather, maybe try to get you 00:01:17.07\00:01:19.57 back on board and back in good shape. 00:01:19.61\00:01:21.04 So that's why we're here. 00:01:21.08\00:01:22.41 We want to have a word of prayer, 00:01:22.44\00:01:23.78 then we're going to launch right out with not too much ado, 00:01:23.81\00:01:26.72 because we've got a lot to talk about 00:01:26.75\00:01:28.45 and a lot of information to share with you. 00:01:28.65\00:01:32.39 Shall we pray? 00:01:32.42\00:01:33.76 Father God, we thank You for Your Word, which is 00:01:33.79\00:01:36.16 a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. 00:01:36.19\00:01:38.33 We thank You for the healing processes 00:01:38.36\00:01:40.96 that You have put in our body. 00:01:41.00\00:01:42.36 We thank You for men and women who have dedicated their lives 00:01:42.46\00:01:45.27 to sharing good news, who have joined hands with You 00:01:45.30\00:01:49.70 in the healing ministries and the healing hearts. 00:01:49.74\00:01:51.77 So we ask that you will be with us today, 00:01:51.97\00:01:53.48 make the information clear and give us an understanding 00:01:53.51\00:01:56.31 of what to do and how to do it 00:01:56.34\00:01:58.41 so that we can live the best lives that we can. 00:01:58.45\00:02:01.22 In Jesus' name, amen and amen. 00:02:01.25\00:02:04.72 Pastor, I know you've got a bunch of questions, 00:02:04.82\00:02:06.62 I have one or two, 00:02:06.65\00:02:08.16 so why don't you lead off. 00:02:08.56\00:02:09.89 Okay, Doctor Teske, we who watch television, the news, 00:02:10.16\00:02:14.66 see lots of reports about what's happening in the nation, 00:02:15.00\00:02:18.43 mainly certain epicenters like New York City, Florida, etc., 00:02:19.17\00:02:23.61 but you're the health officer of Kings County. 00:02:24.17\00:02:26.64 Can you tell us basically how things are going, 00:02:26.68\00:02:31.01 not only in Kings County, but also the other adjacent 00:02:31.05\00:02:33.88 counties here in this particular area in the Central Valley? 00:02:33.92\00:02:39.05 Yeah, here we're fortunate. 00:02:39.09\00:02:41.52 We are some distance from the large urban centers, 00:02:41.56\00:02:44.99 and everything is quite a bit delayed coming and getting here. 00:02:45.03\00:02:49.36 The counties all through the Central San Joaquin Valley here 00:02:49.40\00:02:54.80 have very minimal cases compared to some of the 00:02:55.10\00:02:58.31 real hot spots in the country here. 00:02:58.34\00:03:00.41 They are picking up, though, and more and more cases 00:03:00.64\00:03:04.15 are being reported through here. 00:03:04.18\00:03:06.05 Kings County where I am at, we're only five cases so far. 00:03:06.45\00:03:11.15 But we're a very small and small population county, 00:03:11.19\00:03:13.89 very rural, and so you would expect it 00:03:13.92\00:03:17.09 to get to those places later. 00:03:17.13\00:03:19.73 But the real big difference I think we're going to see 00:03:20.23\00:03:22.56 in this country, you know, between places, 00:03:22.60\00:03:26.33 is going to have to do with how well we adhere 00:03:26.53\00:03:30.84 to those public health measures that help us to slow down 00:03:31.21\00:03:36.54 the spread of this disease. 00:03:36.58\00:03:38.55 Because what we find is, those places that did not 00:03:39.21\00:03:43.52 do that up front, and they got infection coming in 00:03:43.55\00:03:48.06 from wherever, it started spreading 00:03:48.09\00:03:51.36 without anything to control it, and they got too many cases, 00:03:51.39\00:03:54.93 and now it's spreading out of control. 00:03:55.03\00:03:57.23 And now it's far enough down the course of the disease 00:03:57.27\00:04:00.37 that the death toll is really starting to rise. 00:04:00.40\00:04:04.11 The ERs and ICUs are overwhelmed, 00:04:04.14\00:04:07.21 they're using all kinds of other facilities 00:04:07.31\00:04:10.45 to be temporary hospitals. 00:04:10.48\00:04:12.68 They're really in big trouble in the big places right there. 00:04:13.42\00:04:17.32 They're now trying to put in, of course, those measures, 00:04:18.52\00:04:21.36 but it's a little bit late. 00:04:21.39\00:04:24.06 But better late than never. 00:04:24.09\00:04:25.43 At least we're trying a little bit. 00:04:25.46\00:04:26.80 Here we sort of have the advantage of time; 00:04:28.60\00:04:32.53 being, it came there first. 00:04:32.57\00:04:34.57 And so, we can start to put in those measures 00:04:34.60\00:04:38.07 before it spreads here. 00:04:38.17\00:04:40.31 And so we have been doing here and throughout California, 00:04:40.58\00:04:44.51 including the Central Valley here, stay at home, 00:04:44.55\00:04:47.32 where we have people just stay in your home unless 00:04:47.35\00:04:50.29 you essentially have to get out to get some food, 00:04:50.32\00:04:52.95 or you're an essential healthcare worker 00:04:53.05\00:04:55.96 or something that we really need you there. 00:04:55.99\00:04:58.19 Stay at home. 00:04:58.76\00:05:00.10 And that's going to make a huge difference. 00:05:00.13\00:05:02.73 When you are out, keep your distance. 00:05:02.76\00:05:05.17 And most recently we have all been adding to that, 00:05:05.87\00:05:10.17 cover your face. 00:05:10.61\00:05:12.07 You know, there's been quite an amount of controversy 00:05:12.57\00:05:15.31 you'll see on wearing masks. 00:05:15.34\00:05:17.41 They started out telling us, "Don't wear masks. 00:05:17.45\00:05:20.48 It won't do any good. 00:05:20.52\00:05:21.85 But we need to save all the masks for the healthcare workers 00:05:21.88\00:05:24.25 because they really do work." 00:05:24.29\00:05:25.75 The bottom line, if you think about it, 00:05:26.52\00:05:28.49 every respiratory illness spreads in the air. 00:05:28.52\00:05:32.96 And when you have an infection, whether it's a common cold 00:05:33.36\00:05:38.30 or the COVID, every time you breathe or cough or sneeze, 00:05:38.33\00:05:43.87 it comes out into the air. 00:05:43.91\00:05:45.97 And if you're near that person, or even a little ways away, 00:05:46.57\00:05:51.45 it's floating there. 00:05:52.58\00:05:53.92 And you have to breathe as well, and you inhale, 00:05:53.95\00:05:58.65 and those microscopic particles that you can't see 00:05:58.69\00:06:01.72 carry those little seeds of death. 00:06:01.76\00:06:04.46 You know, those little... 00:06:04.49\00:06:05.83 And they're going to go in, attach to your 00:06:05.86\00:06:08.53 respiratory epithelium up in the nasal passages 00:06:08.63\00:06:12.13 or even down into the lungs and the tissue there, 00:06:12.17\00:06:16.10 and then they infect a cell. 00:06:16.30\00:06:18.31 And once that cell gets infected, then it 00:06:18.34\00:06:20.31 releases thousands more that infect all cells around them, 00:06:20.51\00:06:23.85 and you're infected. 00:06:24.05\00:06:25.58 You've got the infection going on. 00:06:25.61\00:06:27.32 So wearing a mask, covering the face, 00:06:27.35\00:06:30.35 does a couple of things. 00:06:30.39\00:06:31.72 You know, it's going to help block those particles there. 00:06:31.92\00:06:35.06 None of the masks are perfect. 00:06:35.46\00:06:37.39 You know, our homemade mask maybe even a little bit less so, 00:06:37.99\00:06:41.33 but not necessarily. 00:06:41.36\00:06:42.70 They're all going to give you some degree of protection. 00:06:42.73\00:06:45.80 But most everyone is in agreement, their best thing is 00:06:46.23\00:06:49.30 they're going to keep you from spreading it to someone else. 00:06:49.34\00:06:53.04 They're going to really catch the droplets as they come out 00:06:53.38\00:06:56.75 of you very effectively. 00:06:56.78\00:06:58.58 And most people understand that to be a very effective 00:06:58.61\00:07:01.55 way of stopping the spread. 00:07:01.58\00:07:03.32 One of the first things we do when someone comes in 00:07:03.35\00:07:05.59 the ER or any health facility that's had any kind of symptoms, 00:07:05.62\00:07:08.92 we put a mask on them. 00:07:08.96\00:07:10.29 Because we know that's the best protection, 00:07:10.33\00:07:11.99 is to mask the source. 00:07:12.03\00:07:13.66 And if you just think about it, if everybody wears a mask 00:07:14.16\00:07:18.27 this thing is going to stop spreading because 00:07:18.70\00:07:20.47 we don't know who is infected. 00:07:21.00\00:07:22.77 We used to say 25% of the people were asymptomatic. 00:07:23.14\00:07:27.04 Now as we look at some of the places where they have done 00:07:27.08\00:07:29.51 extensive testing like one of the cruise ships 00:07:29.54\00:07:32.21 and some places like that, suddenly they're realizing 00:07:32.25\00:07:34.68 50% of the people are asymptomatic. 00:07:34.88\00:07:38.05 And so, there is a lot of well people that are 00:07:38.52\00:07:42.62 carrying the virus out there. 00:07:42.66\00:07:44.39 But if every well person put on a mask, 00:07:44.69\00:07:47.00 even if they think they're doing it to protect themselves, 00:07:47.70\00:07:50.30 and the bottom line is, if everybody does it 00:07:51.33\00:07:53.23 we're going to be protected. 00:07:53.27\00:07:54.67 We're going to slow down the spread of this. 00:07:54.70\00:07:57.27 And even if we can't prevent it from hitting here, 00:07:57.71\00:08:00.84 if we slow it down and spread it out, like we talked last time, 00:08:00.94\00:08:05.31 we can, you know, avoid being overwhelmed in the hospitals 00:08:05.71\00:08:13.25 and the death toll going up so rapidly because we don't have 00:08:13.29\00:08:16.19 the resources to save everybody's life, 00:08:16.22\00:08:19.09 we don't have enough ventilators to keep everybody 00:08:19.13\00:08:21.90 breathing that needs one. 00:08:21.93\00:08:23.26 Yeah, doctor, before we leave this, here's a mask. 00:08:23.30\00:08:26.63 ~ Yes. 00:08:26.67\00:08:28.00 Single use? Can we use it several times? 00:08:29.00\00:08:31.64 That question seems to be floating around. 00:08:32.31\00:08:34.21 Have a new one every day? Can we use it two days in a row? 00:08:34.24\00:08:37.38 What's the best policy? 00:08:37.95\00:08:39.28 Yeah, we're realizing that under the circumstances, 00:08:39.31\00:08:43.08 we're going to have to reuse this stuff. 00:08:43.12\00:08:44.92 There's guidelines in the hospitals 00:08:44.95\00:08:46.65 for cleaning and reusing the N95 00:08:46.69\00:08:49.49 even in that high use, high risk situation, 00:08:49.52\00:08:52.66 and out here in the community, yeah, we can reuse them. 00:08:52.76\00:08:57.87 We can use them over. It's better than nothing. 00:08:57.90\00:08:59.93 The cloth ones that people sew up, those you can just 00:09:00.87\00:09:04.07 throw in the laundry every day and, you know, have a clean one. 00:09:04.11\00:09:09.04 Or you can have a couple of them and throw them 00:09:09.14\00:09:10.91 ultimately in the laundry. 00:09:10.95\00:09:12.28 So they can be reused. 00:09:12.31\00:09:14.35 Ideally, you know, in a healthcare setting 00:09:14.38\00:09:17.59 we're going to try to be a lot more careful 00:09:17.62\00:09:19.55 about it because we definitely have viruses going right there. 00:09:19.59\00:09:23.49 And so we're going to be as careful as we possibly can be. 00:09:23.53\00:09:26.33 But even there we're running out of resources in places 00:09:26.43\00:09:29.16 and we've got to make the best with what we can. 00:09:29.20\00:09:32.30 And it seems like even reusing is better than no mask at all. 00:09:32.67\00:09:37.31 Just a little academic question, why is it called, COVID-19? 00:09:38.27\00:09:44.31 ~ COVID-19. 00:09:44.35\00:09:46.25 "Covid," stands for, 00:09:46.45\00:09:48.42 "coronavirus infectious disease." 00:09:48.45\00:09:51.52 And, "19," is because that's the year they first discovered it. 00:09:51.72\00:09:56.89 It sounds like the first case we know of was in November. 00:09:56.93\00:10:00.10 And then in December, it was really spreading through Wuhan 00:10:00.30\00:10:03.93 and spreading out. 00:10:03.97\00:10:06.50 Before we started locking down things here, I think, 00:10:06.70\00:10:09.34 nearly 500,000 Chinese had come to America 00:10:09.37\00:10:14.64 through various ways or whatever. 00:10:14.68\00:10:16.44 So it's spreading around the world. 00:10:16.48\00:10:19.41 And of course, people spreading it everywhere, 00:10:19.45\00:10:21.25 and we see it popping up everywhere now. 00:10:21.28\00:10:23.35 But COVID-19 is the official name is was given. 00:10:23.39\00:10:27.36 You know, in the past we often named them 00:10:27.56\00:10:29.26 by geographic locations. 00:10:29.29\00:10:31.03 Ebola is the name of a river, Marburg there in Africa. 00:10:31.06\00:10:34.10 Many of these diseases are named by their locations. 00:10:34.13\00:10:38.00 But they felt that in today's climate, that would 00:10:38.03\00:10:42.07 be not acceptable and it would be much safer 00:10:42.10\00:10:45.74 to just give that name. 00:10:45.77\00:10:47.11 They didn't even want to name it, you know, after the 00:10:47.14\00:10:49.84 bats or the pangolins or the other things, because, well 00:10:50.15\00:10:54.78 that's not good either. 00:10:54.98\00:10:56.42 So just they gave it some name that couldn't be tied 00:10:56.45\00:11:02.06 to anything else, and figured that was a safe name. 00:11:02.09\00:11:04.49 And so they gave it the official name of COVID-19. 00:11:04.53\00:11:08.13 Following on Pastor Bohr's question, coronavirus, 00:11:08.16\00:11:12.30 the coronavirus' are a family of viruses? 00:11:12.33\00:11:15.84 Give us just a little explanation of that. 00:11:15.94\00:11:18.11 "Corona," actually describes the structure. 00:11:18.31\00:11:21.78 If you look at the pictures of it, they look like a ball 00:11:21.81\00:11:24.58 with little spikes sticking all out of it. 00:11:24.98\00:11:26.92 And when you look under one of these microscopes, 00:11:26.95\00:11:29.15 you sort of see the silhouette of it, and you basically see 00:11:29.18\00:11:31.79 this ring with the little spikes sort of like a crown. 00:11:31.82\00:11:34.49 And so they're called, corona, because 00:11:34.69\00:11:36.66 you look under the microscope and you see 00:11:36.69\00:11:38.89 all these little crown everywhere. 00:11:38.93\00:11:40.30 So it was named the coronavirus. 00:11:40.33\00:11:42.60 Coronavirus is a whole family of viruses. 00:11:42.80\00:11:45.50 They've been around for a long time. 00:11:45.53\00:11:47.00 Most of the coronaviruses cause symptoms 00:11:47.04\00:11:49.60 similar to the common cold. 00:11:49.64\00:11:51.41 Nothing real serious until we came up with SARS, and MERS, 00:11:51.84\00:11:57.51 and now the COVID-19. 00:11:57.55\00:12:01.58 And these, of course, have become much more infective. 00:12:05.09\00:12:08.16 These spike proteins are altered, and they really 00:12:08.19\00:12:11.49 easily infect cells and cause a severe level of disease. 00:12:13.36\00:12:17.70 Well, you know, the ideal of course, would be to find 00:12:19.07\00:12:22.90 a vaccine for COVID. 00:12:22.94\00:12:25.61 ~ That would be great if we had one of those right now. 00:12:25.64\00:12:28.21 I guess that's going to be way down the road. 00:12:28.24\00:12:31.41 So, you know, I've heard about a lot of alternative 00:12:32.21\00:12:35.75 things that would help in this case. 00:12:36.08\00:12:39.49 So if I can mention some of them, maybe you can 00:12:39.52\00:12:42.46 help us understand whether this is really worthwhile or not. 00:12:42.66\00:12:47.33 ~ Sure, yeah, let's talk about some of these alternatives. 00:12:47.36\00:12:49.90 First of all, garlic. 00:12:49.93\00:12:51.47 ~ Garlic. 00:12:51.77\00:12:53.10 Yeah, garlic has been known for its antibiotic, antiviral 00:12:53.47\00:13:01.14 properties for a long time. 00:13:01.18\00:13:02.68 And most anybody you talk to about natural remedies, 00:13:02.71\00:13:07.88 if you've got an infection of some kind, 00:13:07.92\00:13:10.09 let's put garlic on it, or let's eat some garlic, or take garlic. 00:13:10.12\00:13:14.16 Lots of different ways of using garlic because it seems to help. 00:13:14.26\00:13:18.03 And I think... And it probably does. 00:13:18.33\00:13:21.10 I'm all in favor of garlic. 00:13:21.13\00:13:24.60 It tastes great. 00:13:24.90\00:13:26.23 I love food made with lots of garlic in it. 00:13:26.27\00:13:28.30 But I think maybe look back at the underlying principle. 00:13:30.04\00:13:34.71 If you think about it, God has put in our food 00:13:35.14\00:13:38.25 so many things that are really essential for life. 00:13:38.51\00:13:43.32 And not just basically to stay alive, but to keep us healthy, 00:13:43.62\00:13:49.02 and to help us fight disease and help us fight infections. 00:13:49.06\00:13:52.89 And you know, blueberries have, like, over 600 different 00:13:53.23\00:13:59.97 bio-active molecules in them; meaning, molecules of 00:14:00.17\00:14:03.57 all these different bioflavins, and phytochemicals. 00:14:03.61\00:14:09.61 Just all these different substances. 00:14:09.64\00:14:12.95 And they're active. 00:14:13.08\00:14:14.42 They go into cells, and the cells pick them up, 00:14:14.45\00:14:16.15 they stick inside cells and do things there. 00:14:16.18\00:14:18.25 And we don't even know what they all do. 00:14:18.29\00:14:20.19 But we're beginning to learn what a lot of them do. 00:14:20.49\00:14:23.56 And a lot of them interact with the body's immune system 00:14:23.59\00:14:27.46 in ways that really enhances it, allows it to function better. 00:14:27.56\00:14:31.67 And garlic, I mentioned blueberries have 600, 00:14:31.77\00:14:34.34 garlic have over 900 of these bio-active substances 00:14:34.37\00:14:38.64 of some kind in there. 00:14:38.67\00:14:40.01 Some of them we know what they do. 00:14:40.04\00:14:41.54 Most of them we don't know what they do, 00:14:41.74\00:14:44.05 but they seem to go into cells. 00:14:44.08\00:14:45.88 And I'm sure God put them there for some reason. 00:14:45.91\00:14:49.48 And just because we don't totally understand it 00:14:49.85\00:14:52.65 doesn't mean that it's not important. 00:14:53.29\00:14:55.82 Every little piece of importance helps. 00:14:56.09\00:14:58.49 I mean, there's one thing that correlates with health 00:14:58.53\00:15:01.20 of all kinds; and that is a diet that's almost entirely 00:15:01.23\00:15:05.97 of fruits, vegetables. 00:15:06.07\00:15:08.10 In other words, food the way God made it. 00:15:08.14\00:15:10.37 And you can pick out one piece like the garlic, 00:15:10.91\00:15:13.71 and wow, this really works great. 00:15:13.74\00:15:16.04 But it probably all works really great. 00:15:16.24\00:15:19.21 And I think the most important thing is that we go for 00:15:19.25\00:15:21.78 the whole thing, you know. 00:15:22.12\00:15:24.55 Live on the food the way God made it. 00:15:24.59\00:15:26.35 But garlic, I've heard only good stuff about it. 00:15:26.39\00:15:28.86 It's certainly not going to hurt anything. 00:15:29.42\00:15:31.39 Use it. 00:15:32.39\00:15:33.73 Can you overdose on vitamin C? 00:15:33.76\00:15:35.56 Vitamin C is very interesting. 00:15:36.83\00:15:38.50 We know that vitamin C is anti-viral in its properties. 00:15:38.53\00:15:42.44 It's really good for fighting infections. 00:15:42.84\00:15:45.34 You come down with infections, load up on the vitamin C. 00:15:45.37\00:15:48.41 Vitamin C is water soluble. 00:15:49.84\00:15:52.51 And so, if you take and say, "Wow, man, I feel like 00:15:53.18\00:15:56.42 I'm coming down with something," and you take, you know, 00:15:56.45\00:15:59.29 three or four or five grams of vitamin C, 00:15:59.32\00:16:01.99 it's water soluble, and it all comes out in the urine 00:16:03.16\00:16:06.56 over the next few hours. 00:16:06.59\00:16:08.06 And you can take it again in a few hours, 00:16:09.20\00:16:10.90 and it'll come out again. 00:16:10.93\00:16:12.27 And you can take it all again. 00:16:12.30\00:16:13.64 So you're not really hurting the body by taking extra vitamin C. 00:16:13.67\00:16:17.11 Does extra vitamin C of the really high mega doses 00:16:18.04\00:16:21.41 make a difference? 00:16:21.44\00:16:22.78 There's a lot of different opinions in there. 00:16:23.01\00:16:25.45 Certainly if you're not on a diet of fruits and vegetables, 00:16:25.55\00:16:29.18 you're running very low on vitamin C. 00:16:29.22\00:16:32.15 And there's a lot of evidence that suggests that 00:16:32.25\00:16:35.72 more vitamin C than most people get is probably the ideal. 00:16:36.19\00:16:40.10 You know, we're not living continuously on fruits 00:16:40.90\00:16:44.00 and stuff that are so high in vitamin C, 00:16:44.03\00:16:46.07 and so our vitamin C is probably a lot lower than would be ideal. 00:16:46.10\00:16:50.41 And particularly since we know it, you know, has properties 00:16:50.44\00:16:54.68 that help us fight infections. 00:16:54.71\00:16:56.24 You know, at this time when there's viruses around 00:16:56.54\00:16:59.15 we want our immune systems on optimum. 00:16:59.18\00:17:01.68 You know, using some extra vitamin C 00:17:01.72\00:17:03.59 is probably quite reasonable. 00:17:03.62\00:17:05.45 And certainly, if you're one of those at home 00:17:05.65\00:17:08.62 with, you know, no access to any other therapies 00:17:09.36\00:17:13.13 or treatments, taking vitamin C would be quite valuable 00:17:13.16\00:17:18.43 in helping to fight this. 00:17:18.47\00:17:20.64 And it's certainly not going to hurt you. 00:17:20.67\00:17:22.30 You know, it's easily cleared by the kidneys in the urine. 00:17:22.80\00:17:26.27 So, yeah, take the vitamin C. 00:17:26.31\00:17:28.94 ~ What about zinc? 00:17:28.98\00:17:31.05 Yeah, zinc. 00:17:32.18\00:17:33.62 Zinc is an element, a trace element. 00:17:33.65\00:17:37.85 The body needs zinc. 00:17:37.89\00:17:39.49 And many of the various enzymes or proteins that function in the 00:17:39.75\00:17:45.86 body's immune system require zinc. 00:17:45.89\00:17:49.00 Now a protein, an enzyme, some functioning protein 00:17:49.03\00:17:52.53 that's doing a certain job needs zinc or manganese. 00:17:52.57\00:17:57.17 Whatever it needs there. 00:17:57.21\00:17:58.57 It needs it to function. 00:17:59.61\00:18:00.94 And if you don't have that piece in there, 00:18:00.98\00:18:03.01 the tool is useless. 00:18:03.35\00:18:04.68 It has no function at all without that key piece in there. 00:18:04.71\00:18:07.58 So if you've got an enzyme that needs zinc, 00:18:07.62\00:18:10.79 and you don't have it in there... 00:18:10.82\00:18:12.15 Well there's hundreds of different ones in the body 00:18:12.19\00:18:13.89 that need zinc. 00:18:13.92\00:18:15.26 And many of the key ones in the body's immune system needs zinc. 00:18:15.29\00:18:19.23 In the U.S. population in general, about 25% 00:18:19.46\00:18:24.23 are deficient in zinc. 00:18:24.27\00:18:27.04 And they're going to be deficient in all of these 00:18:27.07\00:18:29.20 functions because they're deficient in zinc. 00:18:29.24\00:18:31.61 And interestingly, when we look at it, frequently we find 00:18:32.14\00:18:35.28 that vegetarians and vegans may be deficient in zinc? 00:18:35.31\00:18:40.18 And so, adding a trace element supplement that has zinc in it 00:18:40.38\00:18:44.19 would certainly be a reasonable thing to do. 00:18:44.65\00:18:47.42 And you know, many people are saying, 00:18:47.62\00:18:50.09 "Oh yeah, I take zinc and I got better." 00:18:50.13\00:18:51.59 Well, it's probably because now everything was working better 00:18:51.63\00:18:54.50 that wasn't working before because you were actually 00:18:54.53\00:18:56.56 running deficient in zinc. 00:18:56.60\00:18:58.03 And so, yeah, making sure you're up on the zinc by taking 00:18:58.23\00:19:02.00 a trace element supplement. 00:19:02.04\00:19:03.71 Now I would say about zinc, or any of the other elements, 00:19:03.84\00:19:07.81 you know, supplements, the right amount is the right amount. 00:19:07.84\00:19:13.45 And I would follow the instructions 00:19:13.48\00:19:15.38 for the dosing and stuff. 00:19:15.42\00:19:17.69 It's not like vitamin C; if some is good, more is better. 00:19:17.72\00:19:20.86 No. Most of these, whether it's zinc, or copper, or manganese, 00:19:21.22\00:19:25.33 or whatever, you can be deficient, and then you can 00:19:25.36\00:19:28.33 have the right amount, or you can become toxic. 00:19:28.36\00:19:31.37 And many of these things will become toxic in higher doses. 00:19:31.40\00:19:34.57 And so, don't take extra. 00:19:34.60\00:19:37.44 Take the recommended amount on the various supplements 00:19:37.47\00:19:40.64 that you're looking at. 00:19:40.68\00:19:42.04 I want to return just for a moment to vitamin C, 00:19:42.94\00:19:45.91 and maybe some of these other things also. 00:19:45.95\00:19:47.92 What do you recommend? 00:19:49.25\00:19:50.59 And my question is, is the supplement a tablet or the pill 00:19:50.62\00:19:55.16 or the gel cap equal to getting it from... 00:19:55.19\00:19:59.13 I mean, in California we have an abundance of oranges, 00:19:59.16\00:20:01.86 we have an abundance of lemons, we have an abundance of 00:20:01.96\00:20:04.37 a number of things, including leafy greens that you can get 00:20:04.40\00:20:07.30 vitamin C from. 00:20:08.00\00:20:09.34 If you're out in Iowa or some place in the 00:20:09.94\00:20:12.67 middle of the country and can't get access to the store, 00:20:12.71\00:20:15.31 you may not be able to grab fresh fruit very easily. 00:20:15.34\00:20:19.58 How effective is it in a supplemental form 00:20:20.02\00:20:23.42 vis-à-vis the natural form off the tree, off the vine? 00:20:23.89\00:20:27.39 Many people have found that it's very effective 00:20:28.26\00:20:31.39 to go ahead and take the supplements 00:20:31.43\00:20:33.16 whether you're getting the powder or whether you're taking 00:20:33.19\00:20:35.66 it in pills or capsules. 00:20:35.70\00:20:37.23 Obviously, when God made oranges, He put in not only 00:20:37.43\00:20:41.34 vitamin C, but hundreds of other things that you need too. 00:20:41.37\00:20:45.34 So again, I'm always partial to the way God packaged it 00:20:45.37\00:20:48.48 rather than the way some pharmaceutical 00:20:48.68\00:20:50.98 company packaged it. 00:20:51.01\00:20:52.61 But to the degree that, hey, you're not living on 00:20:52.81\00:20:57.92 orange juice, you know, then yeah, go ahead and 00:20:57.95\00:21:01.29 use the supplements. 00:21:01.32\00:21:02.66 They're using it, some people in China, they've been using 00:21:04.86\00:21:07.80 the IV vitamin C quite extensively very favorably 00:21:07.83\00:21:12.20 in the results they're reporting in that. 00:21:12.53\00:21:15.04 Their staff, they have them all on the oral vitamin C 00:21:15.24\00:21:18.67 trying to help protect them. 00:21:18.71\00:21:20.41 So, you know, it's got a role there. 00:21:20.64\00:21:22.71 Here in this country, most of our health establishment 00:21:23.24\00:21:27.72 is very anti IV vitamin C. 00:21:27.75\00:21:32.02 You know, if you can find a doctor or a system that will 00:21:32.05\00:21:34.32 give it to you, that's probably good if you're quite sick. 00:21:34.36\00:21:37.16 On the other hand, don't be surprised if they are not 00:21:37.73\00:21:41.23 planning on treating you with that. 00:21:41.43\00:21:44.50 But another thing, you know, when we talk about 00:21:45.23\00:21:47.44 the advantage of IV vitamin C where they put really high doses 00:21:47.47\00:21:51.81 in the IV and run it right in, 00:21:51.84\00:21:53.17 it's supposed to work really good, 00:21:53.21\00:21:54.64 vitamin C is very well absorbed orally. 00:21:55.28\00:21:58.85 Unless you're intubated on a ventilator and there's no way 00:21:59.21\00:22:02.22 you can take anything by mouth, a high dose of oral vitamin C 00:22:02.32\00:22:06.96 is still going to be very readily absorbed. 00:22:07.46\00:22:11.03 It's going to go right into the bloodstream. 00:22:11.06\00:22:12.66 It's going to circulate in the blood the same 00:22:12.69\00:22:14.46 as the IV vitamin C. 00:22:14.50\00:22:16.10 And like the IV vitamin C, it will be cleared in the urine 00:22:16.30\00:22:19.83 and disappear from the body and you'll need another dose, 00:22:19.87\00:22:22.97 you know, in another 4 to 6 hours. 00:22:23.00\00:22:24.94 You know, I have on my desk two bottles that were 00:22:25.51\00:22:30.08 sent to me by someone. 00:22:30.11\00:22:31.61 The bottles contain iodine. 00:22:32.41\00:22:34.25 And it comes with a dropper. 00:22:35.08\00:22:37.45 It says, "Put a drop of iodine on your tongue, 00:22:38.02\00:22:40.76 and that will be helpful in preventing 00:22:41.19\00:22:43.59 you getting the coronavirus." 00:22:43.63\00:22:45.79 Is... 00:22:46.36\00:22:48.20 It's true, iodine kills germs, bacteria, viruses. 00:22:49.93\00:22:56.00 In the hospital we use a substance called Betadine. 00:22:56.04\00:22:59.27 It's an iodine solution, and we use it to sterilize 00:22:59.31\00:23:02.54 skin before surgery. 00:23:02.58\00:23:04.55 We put it on different instruments to sterilize 00:23:05.05\00:23:08.15 and clean them. 00:23:08.18\00:23:09.52 We put it in certain soaps to clean things. 00:23:09.92\00:23:12.45 So yeah, iodine kills things. 00:23:12.49\00:23:14.39 How effective putting it on your tongue is? 00:23:14.72\00:23:17.03 Well what if you breathe in the germ through your nose? 00:23:17.06\00:23:19.39 - I guess you'll have to put some in your nose. 00:23:21.60\00:23:23.13 You don't want to take, you know, overload on iodine 00:23:24.07\00:23:27.44 and get too much in there, again, you know. 00:23:27.47\00:23:30.24 So I'm not real excited about those, 00:23:30.27\00:23:34.24 but it's true that iodine kills germs. 00:23:34.28\00:23:36.95 If you've got a germ on your tongue and you put the 00:23:37.05\00:23:38.81 iodine on it, it will kill that germ on your tongue. 00:23:38.85\00:23:41.22 I think the more systemic and things of general health 00:23:43.59\00:23:48.99 principles are probably much more important. 00:23:49.02\00:23:51.39 Stay hydrated, drink lots of water, fresh air and sunlight, 00:23:51.43\00:23:56.63 a simple diet and staying away from junk food 00:23:57.40\00:24:00.74 is probably your best defense. 00:24:00.77\00:24:03.24 You know, it's often when we find a substance, 00:24:03.54\00:24:06.21 whether it's iodine or whatever, some little thing, 00:24:06.24\00:24:09.38 we look at it, "Oh, I've got this, and now I'm safe." 00:24:09.41\00:24:11.88 And then it's sort of like we did that instead of 00:24:12.48\00:24:14.85 all of the other stuff we should have been doing. 00:24:15.05\00:24:17.45 And that's such a mistake when we make 00:24:17.49\00:24:19.35 that transition, you know. 00:24:19.39\00:24:21.02 You know, in Latin America, of course I grew up down there, 00:24:21.82\00:24:25.46 lemon or lime cures everything. 00:24:27.03\00:24:29.96 Are lemons and limes good mainly for the vitamin C 00:24:32.03\00:24:36.54 or do they have other properties that are beneficial 00:24:36.57\00:24:40.14 that you would not, for example, find in an orange? 00:24:40.18\00:24:42.38 As far as I know, they're very high in vitamin C, 00:24:44.38\00:24:47.58 like the other citrus. 00:24:47.62\00:24:49.22 And like the other citrus, they have all of those 00:24:49.25\00:24:51.99 other substances in them that are beneficial. 00:24:52.02\00:24:55.02 And whether a lemon has something that an orange didn't, 00:24:55.32\00:24:58.49 or a grapefruit or a pomelo, generally my approach has been 00:24:58.53\00:25:04.53 we don't usually know for sure that stuff. 00:25:05.00\00:25:07.37 And a variety is always better than a mono-diet, you know. 00:25:07.47\00:25:14.31 Living just on lemons or just on this. 00:25:14.34\00:25:16.98 Lemons, you know, throughout history have had a place 00:25:17.38\00:25:20.72 in the medicine cabinets, and particularly in places... 00:25:20.75\00:25:25.59 You know, it's like they're a magic cure for so many things. 00:25:26.72\00:25:29.62 I mean, if you go back a century or two, the British 00:25:29.66\00:25:33.73 became known as limeys because somebody discovered 00:25:33.76\00:25:37.07 that scurvy, which plagued all of the ships at sea... 00:25:37.43\00:25:41.20 You go out there at sea so much without any fresh fruits 00:25:41.40\00:25:44.74 that people got scurvy. 00:25:45.27\00:25:46.61 And somebody figured out, oh the substance in these 00:25:46.64\00:25:49.01 limes, if you just... 00:25:49.04\00:25:50.38 And they would start packing limes, and every sailor 00:25:50.41\00:25:53.25 had to have half a lime every day. 00:25:53.28\00:25:55.22 And suddenly nobody on the British ships got scurvy. 00:25:55.32\00:25:58.42 So yeah, that was a magic pill there. 00:25:58.85\00:26:01.92 And again, the more deficient we become in things, 00:26:01.96\00:26:06.03 the more magical a single piece of something God made 00:26:06.56\00:26:11.93 is really good for us. 00:26:11.97\00:26:13.44 While we're on the... I'm sorry, pastor. 00:26:13.64\00:26:15.64 I want to mine this just a little bit. 00:26:15.94\00:26:17.64 Because when we think about vitamin C, 00:26:17.67\00:26:19.21 we naturally think citrus. 00:26:19.24\00:26:21.31 But aren't leafy greens a fairly decent source of vitamin C also? 00:26:21.61\00:26:26.45 Oh yes, and as a matter of fact, when we're talking about 00:26:26.48\00:26:28.82 the immune system, it's not just vitamin C. 00:26:28.85\00:26:32.32 There are so many other vitamins in there. 00:26:32.52\00:26:35.09 The basic vitamins, you know, that we need that are 00:26:35.12\00:26:38.16 found in there. 00:26:38.19\00:26:39.53 And beyond that, again, there's a whole other range 00:26:39.56\00:26:42.16 of these various phytochemicals that are found in the greens 00:26:42.20\00:26:47.20 that aren't in some of the fruits right there. 00:26:47.24\00:26:49.67 Someday when we've got a couple of hours 00:26:51.47\00:26:53.31 we'll go over those lectures on greens. 00:26:53.34\00:26:55.81 And there are so many things found in greens. 00:26:55.84\00:26:59.15 You know, when Adam and Eve left the Garden of Eden, 00:26:59.51\00:27:02.48 one of the things that God gave them right that first day 00:27:02.72\00:27:06.12 as they left was, eat the greens. 00:27:06.15\00:27:09.52 You're going to need these greens now. 00:27:09.56\00:27:11.43 And don't forget that. 00:27:11.73\00:27:14.53 It was so important that He added it right at 00:27:15.00\00:27:17.73 the very beginning. 00:27:17.77\00:27:19.10 Not down the road, but right there at the beginning. 00:27:19.13\00:27:21.24 He says, "You guys got to eat the greens now." 00:27:21.27\00:27:23.64 And it's still true. Eat your greens. 00:27:23.81\00:27:26.11 ~ That's right. Good. 00:27:26.14\00:27:27.54 Well, time has almost run out, C.A. 00:27:27.58\00:27:29.58 Yeah, I didn't see the clock. 00:27:29.61\00:27:31.48 You have a better angle on it. 00:27:31.51\00:27:33.05 But it goes away very, very fast. 00:27:33.08\00:27:35.58 And maybe when next we meet we can talk a little bit 00:27:35.85\00:27:38.99 more about lifestyle. 00:27:39.02\00:27:40.36 Which we intended to get into this program, but sometimes 00:27:40.39\00:27:43.02 other things kind of jump in there 00:27:43.06\00:27:44.39 and you don't get a chance to cover it all. 00:27:44.43\00:27:46.13 You want to close with a text. Do we have time to do that? 00:27:46.16\00:27:48.26 Well, I don't think we have time. 00:27:48.96\00:27:50.37 So why don't you just wind it down. 00:27:50.40\00:27:52.53 Okay. 00:27:52.57\00:27:53.90 Well again, hopefully this program has been of value to 00:27:54.90\00:27:59.37 you, it has said something that can help you and allow you to 00:27:59.41\00:28:03.95 prepare yourself and fortify yourself, 00:28:04.95\00:28:07.98 and help those that you love also 00:28:08.18\00:28:10.29 to do the very best that we can to stay healthy 00:28:10.32\00:28:12.95 and to stay on the Lord's side. 00:28:12.99\00:28:14.72
