...and being examined to
make sure that He is the perfect

Lamb who has no stain of sin.

And if you remember, we studied
about how John the Baptist

introduced Jesus
as the Lamb of God.

Then in our last study
together, we noticed that Jesus

went to the altar,
which is the cross.

And He actually
died as the perfect Lamb.

So these two stages are
stages of the ministry of Jesus

in the court.

His examination
as the perfect Lamb,

and His death;
sacrificed upon the altar.

And we noticed in our first two
studies that there are several

common denominators in the
two subjects that we studied.

First of all, we noticed that
there were definite prophecies

which pointed to the work
that Jesus was going to perform.

There were prophecies
which pointed to Jesus

as the perfect Lamb.
00:02:33.01\00:02:34.58
There were prophecies which
pointed to the death of Jesus

on the cross.

But we noticed that these
prophecies were misunderstood

by those who were called
to proclaim and announce them.

And because the prophecies,
though they were proclaimed,

were not understood, the result
was a great disappointment.

We noticed also that God,
in each case, called humble

instruments to
proclaim His message.

In other words, He
did not call the doctors,

the theological
doctors, of the day and age.

He called individuals
who had been home schooled.

He even called
children to announce that Jesus

was the Messiah in
the triumphal entry.

We noticed that at each
stage there was great publicity

about what Jesus was going
to do at that particular stage

of His ministry.

We also noticed that
the established church

of the day and age
rejected the message

which was being proclaimed.

And then we also noticed
that after the disappointment,

God's people re-studied
the prophecies about what Jesus

was going to do.

And as they
re-studied Bible prophecy,

they said, "How
could we miss this point

about what Jesus
was really going to do?"

In other words, there
was a remnant which remained

and studied the word of
God, and finally understood

what Jesus was doing
at that particular moment.

Now in our study
today, we're going to move on

to the aspect of
Christ's ministry where He moves

Place of the Sanctuary.

prophecies that speak about

His resurrection, His ascension,
and His installation at the

because Jesus has been
presented as the perfect Lamb,

He's lived a sinless
life, He's already died

Therefore, His work

prophecies of the Old Testament

God, and He was going to

Spirit upon His church

are those prophecies?"

As we begin, I would like
to read three specific ones.

outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

So there were very
clear prophecies that Jesus

was going to resurrect, His body
was not going to see corruption,

ascend to heaven,

the Father's right hand,

And yet, unfortunately
His followers did not

fully understand
these prophecies.

Not even ten days before
these prophecies were fulfilled

did they understand
what these prophecies meant.

And you say, "How is that?"

Go with me to Acts 1:6 and
you'll see it very clearly.

Jesus gathers His
disciples; He's about to ascend.

He spent 40
days on planet earth.

He's explained Scripture
to them during the 40 days.

And yet they don't understand

really what
Jesus is going to do.

Notice the questions that
the disciples asked Jesus.

Then they asked Jesus, Acts 1:6,
"Will You restore the kingdom

to Israel at this time?"

In other words, "Are you going
to sit on the throne of David?

Are you going to take over
the kingdom on planet earth
00:10:39.80\00:10:42.70
and rule in Jerusalem?"

Well Jesus had just
spent 40 days with them.

You would think that they
would know what these prophecies

that we began with meant.

And yet they didn't.

They didn't know what
Jesus was going to do in heaven.

understand these prophecies,

In fact, even on the day of
Pentecost before Peter preached,

they still didn't understand.

when the Holy
Spirit is poured out

the people asked,
"Whatever could this mean?"

"What could this mean?"

And others who
were present there said,

"Oh, they're just drunk."

So they still didn't understand
until, as we'll notice,

Peter explained the
meaning of the prophecies

with which we began our study.

Now I'd like to say that as
a result of not understanding

these prophecies,
and saying to Jesus,

the disciples were disappointed
in their expectations.

In fact, Jesus did
something just opposite

of what they were expecting.

He told them, "Go to
Jerusalem, go to the upper room.

outpouring of the Holy Spirit."

And then Jesus, instead
of taking over the throne

of the kingdom in Jerusalem,
we're told in Acts 1:9-11

He ascends to heaven
and He leaves the disciples.

No doubt they were heartbroken.

"We thought this
fellow was going to

take over the throne.

And instead of taking over
the throne, now He's left."
