you a little story.

beautiful Armenian family,

beautiful Armenian girl.

Now let me tell you about
the beautiful Armenian girl.

This is a story
when I first heard it,

it just moved upon my heart.
00:17:06.14\00:17:10.28
This happened
about 100 years ago.
00:17:10.31\00:17:14.08
There was an awful war
in that part of the world.
00:17:14.11\00:17:18.04
The father and the
mother and the children
00:17:18.07\00:17:21.50
were shot to death.
00:17:21.53\00:17:23.99
It was a terrible thing.
00:17:24.02\00:17:27.11
The girls were
given away to the soldiers
00:17:27.14\00:17:30.50
and the soldiers raped them.
00:17:30.53\00:17:33.35
The oldest girl was kept
by the captain for himself.
00:17:33.38\00:17:41.23
And by the mercy
and by the grace of God
00:17:41.26\00:17:47.34
after some months this
girl was enabled to escape
00:17:47.37\00:17:51.84
from this captain
who'd murdered her father
00:17:51.87\00:17:55.02
and her--all of her
brothers and had given
00:17:55.05\00:17:59.82
the girls away to the soldiers.
00:17:59.85\00:18:04.44
And through the
help of the British,
00:18:04.47\00:18:06.44
she found refuge
in a British hospital.
00:18:06.47\00:18:10.80
And they trained
her to be a nurse.
00:18:10.83\00:18:13.94
And one night this
beautiful Armenian nurse
00:18:13.97\00:18:16.98
was walking down the
ward and she was holding up
00:18:17.01\00:18:20.24
the candle and all of sudden
the candle light shine upon
00:18:20.27\00:18:24.74
a face that she
recognized too well.
00:18:24.77\00:18:28.77
He was the captain
who'd murdered her father,
00:18:28.80\00:18:34.07
her mother, and her brothers,
00:18:34.10\00:18:37.01
and who had violated the
sacred temple of her body.

And he was dangerously
sick and she thought to herself,
00:18:43.34\00:18:46.95
I can kill him tonight.

What would you
have done my friend?

She thought I
can kill him tonight,

but she was a Christian.

And so she nursed
him back to health.

And the doctors
marveled at her devotion.

And when this man recovered,

when he became conscious
because he'd been in a coma.

The British doctor
brought this Armenian girl

to this captain and said,
but for this girl's devotion,

captain, you would be
dead and he went white.

And when the doctor
left he insisted her,

why didn't you kill me?

And she said
because I belong to Christ.

Hatred is not healed by hatred.

Anger is not healed by anger.

She said, "I belong
to the Christ who said,

'Love your enemies

and forgive them.'"

Now my friend, I want
you to notice something,

a lot of people do a lot of
talking about being Christians.

But that girl had
Christ in her heart

and she was a true Christian

because she loved her enemies.

And this made such a tremendous
impact upon that captain,

who was not a Christian
that he said to the nurse

What did she do?

She showed him grace.

The Bible tells me we
ought to show grace to people

who did terrible things to us.

This is what it means
