No. 00:02:57.67\00:02:59.01 The issue is what is the cause of our healthcare crisis 00:02:59.04\00:03:02.24 and it has to do with the way people are living. 00:03:02.28\00:03:04.85 And no one's talking about that. 00:03:04.88\00:03:06.21 None of the politicians. 00:03:06.25\00:03:07.58 None of them talk about because 00:03:07.62\00:03:08.95 I think it's politically incorrect. 00:03:08.98\00:03:10.32 They can say, "Well you should be exercising every day, 00:03:10.35\00:03:11.89 you should be eating healthy." 00:03:11.92\00:03:13.36 They don't wanna hear that. 00:03:13.39\00:03:14.72 They want cheaper drugs of all... 00:03:14.76\00:03:16.89 I'll try to get better deals in drugs for you. 00:03:16.93\00:03:19.06 It's really the new insanity, Doctor. 00:03:19.09\00:03:21.03 It really is. 00:03:21.06\00:03:22.40 It's the new insanity and in our last program, 00:03:22.43\00:03:24.83 we talked about how people's minds 00:03:24.87\00:03:27.54 are influenced by what they eat. 00:03:27.57\00:03:29.94 It is. 00:03:29.97\00:03:31.31 But I wanna say to the audience as we start here today 00:03:31.34\00:03:33.81 because I don't want them to get it wrong. 00:03:33.84\00:03:37.65 We believe that we are saved 00:03:37.68\00:03:39.51 by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. 00:03:39.55\00:03:42.95 We believe in the Gospel of Christ. 00:03:42.98\00:03:45.35 We don't believe that we're saved by what we eat 00:03:45.39\00:03:47.96 or by what we drink 00:03:47.99\00:03:49.42 or by being vegetarian or vegans, do we? 00:03:49.46\00:03:53.29 From the spiritual sense, you are correct but what we eat 00:03:53.33\00:03:56.36 and what we drink does 00:03:56.40\00:03:57.73 can save us against heart disease, 00:03:57.77\00:03:59.33 diabetes and cancer. 00:03:59.37\00:04:00.70 But it doesn't get us into heaven, does it? 00:04:00.74\00:04:02.07 No, we're not saved. 00:04:02.10\00:04:03.44 It's not a test of our faith. 00:04:03.47\00:04:05.14 But Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life 00:04:05.17\00:04:09.34 and have it more abundantly." 00:04:09.38\00:04:11.38 That's John 10:10. 00:04:11.41\00:04:13.45 And God does want us to be healthy, 00:04:13.48\00:04:15.62 happy and He doesn't want us to have cancer. 00:04:15.65\00:04:18.22 No. 00:04:18.25\00:04:19.59 And if we are healthy and happy, 00:04:19.62\00:04:21.56 we treat these living temples that God have given us 00:04:21.59\00:04:24.79 and keeping it in good health, 00:04:24.83\00:04:26.76 we can do more to further God's work. 00:04:26.80\00:04:32.13 You're a graduate of Loma Linda University 00:04:32.17\00:04:35.24 which is a great place for health. 00:04:35.27\00:04:36.71 Yes. 00:04:36.74\00:04:38.07 Talk to me about 00:04:38.11\00:04:39.44 the New Testament concept of the body? 00:04:39.47\00:04:43.21 You know, this is very interesting 00:04:43.24\00:04:44.81 because of all religions, ancient and modern 00:04:44.85\00:04:47.32 and all the different religions, 00:04:47.35\00:04:49.05 Christianity is the one that really talks about is our body 00:04:49.08\00:04:52.75 is a temple of God 00:04:52.79\00:04:56.36 and the Holy Spirit living within us. 00:04:56.39\00:04:58.69 Now, you know the Greek concept. 00:04:58.73\00:05:01.13 The Greeks believe that the body was a shell. 00:05:01.16\00:05:03.73 Right. 00:05:03.77\00:05:05.10 And it contained an immortal soul. 00:05:05.13\00:05:06.70 This was an idea of dualism so when a person died, 00:05:06.74\00:05:11.47 the body was just the shell, but the soul went home to God. 00:05:11.51\00:05:16.14 But that is not the teaching of the New Testament. 00:05:16.18\00:05:17.81 It isn't. 00:05:17.85\00:05:19.18 You know, I admired as I remember one surgeon one day, 00:05:19.21\00:05:21.72 he told me that before he performed surgery, 00:05:21.75\00:05:25.09 he goes in the Bible, he looks at it, 00:05:25.12\00:05:26.96 he's going into a cathedral. 00:05:26.99\00:05:30.73 As a Christian, you know, he looks at that 00:05:30.76\00:05:33.43 and that's the way that we are. 00:05:33.46\00:05:34.80 That's a great idea. 00:05:34.83\00:05:36.16 And we need to treat our bodies that way. 00:05:36.20\00:05:37.53 The body as a cathedral? Yes. 00:05:37.57\00:05:39.30 It's not a garbage can with a hairy lid 00:05:39.33\00:05:42.24 that a lot of people just throw. 00:05:42.27\00:05:43.61 Not a garbage can with a hairy lid. 00:05:43.64\00:05:44.97 Did you get that one? 00:05:45.01\00:05:46.34 Throw in everything in it, you see. 00:05:46.37\00:05:47.71 Good one. 00:05:47.74\00:05:49.08 Now, I think it's 1 Corinthians 00:05:49.11\00:05:51.71 6 where Paul says, 00:05:51.75\00:05:54.85 "Don't you know that your body is the temple of God, 00:05:54.88\00:05:58.45 and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?" 00:05:58.49\00:06:01.56 If any man, somewhere he says, "If you defile this temple, 00:06:01.59\00:06:06.56 God will destroy you." 00:06:06.59\00:06:07.96 That's right. 00:06:08.00\00:06:09.33 Because this temple is Holy and you are that temple. 00:06:09.36\00:06:12.20 So this is a very opposite 00:06:12.23\00:06:14.20 of the pagan concept of the ancient Greeks. 00:06:14.24\00:06:17.07 I want to mention one thing about that too. 00:06:17.11\00:06:19.44 It's not that God's destroying us 00:06:19.47\00:06:21.34 and casting judgment on us for that. 00:06:21.38\00:06:22.71 No. 00:06:22.74\00:06:24.08 What it is, He's put laws of nature, laws of health. 00:06:24.11\00:06:27.48 We destroy ourselves by the way we live. 00:06:27.52\00:06:29.78 Talk to me about these laws of health, please? 00:06:29.82\00:06:31.82 Okay. 00:06:31.85\00:06:33.19 Well, the laws of health are the laws of nature, 00:06:33.22\00:06:35.06 they keep our body healthy 00:06:35.09\00:06:36.42 and that includes good nutrition, 00:06:36.46\00:06:38.29 particularly a plant-based diet, exercise... 00:06:38.33\00:06:40.63 But the Bible has got laws, 00:06:40.66\00:06:43.33 I mean nature's got laws is my point, I'm asking. 00:06:43.37\00:06:46.37 Yes, that we know of the Mosaic health laws 00:06:46.40\00:06:49.57 which talk about not eating blood, 00:06:49.60\00:06:51.54 not eating fat by having hygiene. 00:06:51.57\00:06:54.84 These are great health principles 00:06:54.88\00:06:56.75 that we find in the scriptures. 00:06:56.78\00:06:58.11 And, let me just take a little divergence. 00:06:58.15\00:07:01.38 Sure. 00:07:01.42\00:07:02.75 Tell me about the Gospel of Christ. 00:07:02.78\00:07:05.19 Now we're talking about the gospel of health, 00:07:05.22\00:07:08.79 but there's something more important, 00:07:08.82\00:07:11.16 that's the gospel of grace. 00:07:11.19\00:07:13.13 Now, you are a Christian. 00:07:13.16\00:07:14.56 Yes, I am. 00:07:14.60\00:07:15.93 So tell me about the gospel, please? 00:07:15.96\00:07:18.07 Well, the gospel, you know, Jesus came, 00:07:18.10\00:07:21.00 He died on the cross for us, for our sins, 00:07:21.04\00:07:24.17 you know, that's, the gospel is the good news. 00:07:24.21\00:07:26.14 It's good news, not the bad news? 00:07:26.17\00:07:27.54 No, the bad news is that we're sinners 00:07:27.58\00:07:30.35 and we should have eternal death. 00:07:30.38\00:07:33.92 The good news is through Jesus Christ, 00:07:33.95\00:07:36.95 we can have eternal life through Him 00:07:36.99\00:07:40.06 for dying on the cross for our sin. 00:07:40.09\00:07:43.12 And this is free, isn't it? 00:07:43.16\00:07:44.49 And this is free. 00:07:44.53\00:07:45.86 Want everybody to hear this. 00:07:45.89\00:07:47.23 You can be saved by the blood of Jesus now. 00:07:47.26\00:07:50.47 And if you believe in Jesus, 00:07:50.50\00:07:52.60 doesn't matter what you've done, 00:07:52.63\00:07:54.67 if you truly believe in Jesus, 00:07:54.70\00:07:57.07 you get today everlasting life 00:07:57.11\00:08:00.21 and you're going to live one day 00:08:00.24\00:08:01.68 forever with Him in the Kingdom of God. 00:08:01.71\00:08:04.15 This is the gospel, isn't it?
