That caused a lot of issues. 00:03:52.29\00:03:55.36 It was on Fox News Yes, been on all over the media. 00:03:55.40\00:03:58.53 And a commentator in Fox News said, 00:03:58.57\00:04:00.87 "Eat up now, eat up the red meat 00:04:00.90\00:04:02.70 because you're going to live longer 00:04:02.74\00:04:04.44 and you're going to look better and all the rest of it." 00:04:04.47\00:04:06.47 Now tell us 00:04:06.51\00:04:08.94 what scientific evidence exists to show 00:04:08.98\00:04:12.91 that eating red meats and processed meats 00:04:12.95\00:04:16.08 is actually bad for the system. 00:04:16.12\00:04:18.72 Oh, there's been years, decades 00:04:18.75\00:04:21.29 of research in the scientific studies 00:04:21.32\00:04:23.73 in epidemiologic studies 00:04:23.76\00:04:25.53 and clinical trials and so forth, 00:04:25.56\00:04:27.43 showing that consuming more red meat 00:04:27.46\00:04:30.40 and particularly the processed meats 00:04:30.43\00:04:33.17 with all of these chemicals added to it, 00:04:33.20\00:04:35.40 they put everything in processed meats. 00:04:35.44\00:04:37.94 Everything in...? 00:04:37.97\00:04:39.31 Every part of the animal, you know, 00:04:39.34\00:04:40.78 you don't even wanna know. 00:04:40.81\00:04:42.14 And the scrapings off the floor? 00:04:42.18\00:04:43.55 That's true. 00:04:43.58\00:04:44.91 They hide all the waste products, 00:04:44.95\00:04:46.48 they're ground up and they're put together 00:04:46.51\00:04:47.92 and they put into these processed meats. 00:04:47.95\00:04:50.05 And so this has caused a great concern 00:04:50.09\00:04:52.65 in the public health community 00:04:52.69\00:04:55.52 because it's like, you know, 00:04:55.56\00:04:58.29 people like to hear good news about bad habits. 00:04:58.33\00:05:00.70 Yes, of course, they do. 00:05:00.73\00:05:02.06 And what's happening is the meat industry 00:05:02.10\00:05:05.90 and the scientists that are affiliated with it, 00:05:05.93\00:05:09.90 they're running scared right now 00:05:09.94\00:05:11.27 because more and more research is showing 00:05:11.31\00:05:13.48 that this red meat consumption, 00:05:13.51\00:05:15.28 particularly high consumptions of that 00:05:15.31\00:05:16.95 and also the processed meats 00:05:16.98\00:05:19.48 increases your risk of heart disease, 00:05:19.51\00:05:21.22 increases your risk of different types of cancer, 00:05:21.25\00:05:24.05 even the United Nations has come out strong on this 00:05:24.09\00:05:27.22 and this is a problem, 00:05:27.26\00:05:28.59 but what's happening right now 00:05:28.62\00:05:30.33 is we're coming up to the new dietary guidelines 00:05:30.36\00:05:33.70 for Americans, 00:05:33.73\00:05:35.06 and this same thing happened years ago, 00:05:35.10\00:05:37.70 they come out, 00:05:37.73\00:05:39.07 "Saturated fats aren't that bad!" 00:05:39.10\00:05:40.60 Yeah. 00:05:40.64\00:05:41.97 You know, when the government's 00:05:42.00\00:05:43.34 about to make some new dietary guidelines for Americans. 00:05:43.37\00:05:45.87 Is it true? 00:05:45.91\00:05:47.48 Is there a parallel between the meat industry today 00:05:47.51\00:05:51.98 and the tobacco industry of say in 1950 and 1960? 00:05:52.01\00:05:56.05 Well, you know, this is very interesting 00:05:56.08\00:05:57.62 because they have scientists on the tobacco industry side. 00:05:57.65\00:06:02.49 They were saying... On the payroll. 00:06:02.52\00:06:04.09 On the payroll and, you know, 00:06:04.13\00:06:07.86 the sergeant general of that time, 00:06:07.90\00:06:09.46 who is really great. 00:06:09.50\00:06:10.83 He was very strong against smoking and so forth, 00:06:10.87\00:06:13.77 but they would swear in testimony and comments 00:06:13.80\00:06:16.57 that there's no evidence to show. 00:06:16.60\00:06:18.11 Raise the hand and swear. They raise. 00:06:18.14\00:06:19.74 Yeah, what I'm telling you is God's truth. 00:06:19.77\00:06:21.44 Yeah. 00:06:21.48\00:06:22.81 And they were being paid by the tobacco companies. 00:06:22.84\00:06:24.61 Well, the sergeant general even made a joke about it. 00:06:24.65\00:06:26.75 They're raising their hand one side 00:06:26.78\00:06:28.12 and they're crossing their fingers behind them. 00:06:28.15\00:06:29.95 So... 00:06:29.98\00:06:31.65 It's a scoundrels, won't they? It was and... 00:06:31.69\00:06:33.96 I know, you know, this is outrageous, 00:06:33.99\00:06:36.26 millions of people dying. 00:06:36.29\00:06:38.13 And as a scientist, there are... 00:06:38.16\00:06:39.73 I know for a fact, there are other scientists 00:06:39.76\00:06:42.16 that do represent food industry. 00:06:42.20\00:06:44.40 Some of them are very good scientists. 00:06:44.43\00:06:46.47 However, there's a bias there. 00:06:46.50\00:06:48.80 And now they're seeing all these, 00:06:48.84\00:06:50.77 even these hamburger places 00:06:50.81\00:06:52.27 are having plant based burgers and... 00:06:52.31\00:06:54.34 See you got McDonald's. Yeah. 00:06:54.38\00:06:56.34 They're all say that, "That's losing sales!" 00:06:56.38\00:06:59.81 So there is a concern so what they said 00:06:59.85\00:07:01.78 in this report which is ridiculous, 00:07:01.82\00:07:03.65 I mean every, if Harvard University, 00:07:03.69\00:07:05.72 Columbia University, 00:07:05.75\00:07:07.09 all the top scientists in the country. 00:07:07.12\00:07:08.46 And I'm a member of the True Health Initiative, 00:07:08.49\00:07:11.76 which is a group of 500 scientists. 00:07:11.79\00:07:13.56 I'm on their council, 00:07:13.60\00:07:14.93 along with others scientists from Harvard and others, 00:07:14.96\00:07:16.93 who said this report is gonna cause a lot of confusion, 00:07:16.97\00:07:20.57 it's wrong and they've re seen the data. 00:07:20.60\00:07:22.60 Cause a lot of cancer. That's right. 00:07:22.64\00:07:24.87 Lot of heart disease. It will. 00:07:24.91\00:07:26.57 A lot of funerals. Right. 00:07:26.61\00:07:29.41 Now, let me ask you this. 00:07:29.44\00:07:31.81 Here we've got Fox 00:07:31.85\00:07:33.18 and most of us on occasions look at Fox. 00:07:33.21\00:07:36.62 And they are trumpeting this report. 00:07:36.65\00:07:39.82 One of their prominent speakers, commentators 00:07:39.85\00:07:44.26 is saying, "I can hardly wait, 00:07:44.29\00:07:46.26 you know, eat out folks, this is, 00:07:46.29\00:07:48.63 you know, we've got license now." 00:07:48.66\00:07:51.30 It's like that movie, "License to Kill". 00:07:51.33\00:07:54.70 Right, right, right. 00:07:54.74\00:07:56.10 Well, you know, in this report though, 00:07:56.14\00:07:58.34 one of the scientists that is behind 00:07:58.37\00:08:00.38 in putting this study out. 00:08:00.41\00:08:01.78 Years ago, he also, 00:08:01.81\00:08:03.48 I was working with the sugar industry 00:08:03.51\00:08:06.01 saying that, you know, sugar's not all that bad. 00:08:06.05\00:08:08.72 Now sugar's good for you? 00:08:08.75\00:08:10.09 Yeah, they say, you know, 00:08:10.12\00:08:12.05 it's not that bad as people are saying so... 00:08:12.09\00:08:14.66 Do you think this report 00:08:14.69\00:08:16.42 that was trumpeted around the world 00:08:16.46\00:08:19.79 led by Fox? 00:08:19.83\00:08:22.00 Do you think some of these people 00:08:22.03\00:08:23.43 were unduly influenced by the meat industry? 00:08:23.47\00:08:28.74 There's no question. 00:08:28.77\00:08:30.14 Are you sure? 00:08:30.17\00:08:31.51 I'm sure because they've had a history 00:08:31.54\00:08:34.04 in the past of working. 00:08:34.08\00:08:35.74 And they've been a part of an organization 00:08:35.78\00:08:38.38 that actually is a group of scientists 00:08:38.41\00:08:40.15 in this organization 00:08:40.18\00:08:41.52 that represent the food product industry. 00:08:41.55\00:08:43.75 But the media is absolutely honest, 00:08:43.79\00:08:46.59 we all know this. 00:08:46.62\00:08:47.96 Yeah, yeah, yeah, sure. 00:08:47.99\00:08:50.69 No, these make headlines and unfortunately... 00:08:50.73\00:08:54.23 It makes headlines and it makes money! 00:08:54.26\00:08:57.37 It makes money for them 00:08:57.40\00:08:58.80 and it gets the people confused. 00:08:58.83\00:09:01.70 All scientists don't agree while we can eat 00:09:01.74\00:09:03.64 whatever we want to. 00:09:03.67\00:09:05.74 But the overwhelming evidence is showing 00:09:05.77\00:09:08.24 that we have to not... 00:09:08.28\00:09:10.15 They're saying keep the meat at the same level. 00:09:10.18\00:09:12.65 Don't try to cut down. 00:09:12.68\00:09:14.02 That makes no sense 00:09:14.05\00:09:15.38 'cause most people are eating too much. 00:09:15.42\00:09:16.75 Yeah, yeah. 00:09:16.79\00:09:18.12 So that's what's going on. 00:09:18.15\00:09:19.49 Now, to go slightly different direction, 00:09:19.52\00:09:23.96 I understand that there are people 00:09:23.99\00:09:25.93 in Sardinia, Italy. 00:09:25.96\00:09:28.23 And they're some of the healthiest people 00:09:28.26\00:09:31.23 on the planet I think. 00:09:31.27\00:09:33.37 Are they in the Blue Zone? 00:09:33.40\00:09:34.94 Yes, they're one of the Blue Zones. 00:09:34.97\00:09:36.30 So we got people in Sardinia, they're in the Blue Zone, 00:09:36.34\00:09:39.97 they live longer than most of the rest of us, 00:09:40.01\00:09:43.78 and they eat meat. 00:09:43.81\00:09:45.78 Yes, they eat some meat but generally, 00:09:45.81\00:09:48.72 according to the scientists 00:09:48.75\00:09:50.09 at National Geography that study, 00:09:50.12\00:09:51.65 it's about once a week they have some meat. 00:09:51.69\00:09:53.46 Once a week? 00:09:53.49\00:09:54.82 About once a week on the average 00:09:54.86\00:09:56.19 they have some meat. 00:09:56.22\00:09:57.56 And they have some, also some cheese from animals 00:09:57.59\00:10:01.80 that eat a lot of these Omega 3 fatty acids, 00:10:01.83\00:10:04.73 they may be higher. 00:10:04.77\00:10:06.10 The other thing about the Sardinia... 00:10:06.13\00:10:07.47 And not full of hormones. 00:10:07.50\00:10:08.84 And not threw out hormones also... 00:10:08.87\00:10:10.21 Yeah, the growth hormones. Yes. 00:10:10.24\00:10:12.41 And the drugs that are pumped into the animals. 00:10:12.44\00:10:15.61 And the scientists believe there's a... 00:10:15.64\00:10:17.58 In the case of Sardinia's people 00:10:17.61\00:10:20.28 where there may be a real strong genetic factor 00:10:20.32\00:10:23.02 because they have a fair amount of centenarians in Sardinia. 00:10:23.05\00:10:26.69 How do you get this genetic factor? 00:10:26.72\00:10:28.19 Is it too late for me? 00:10:28.22\00:10:31.63 Well... 00:10:31.66\00:10:32.99 Look, let's pardon my being a little jovial 00:10:33.03\00:10:37.57 but at this stage in my life, 00:10:37.60\00:10:39.50 I'm looking for everything to help me. 00:10:39.53\00:10:41.57 The Sardinians eat a better meat 00:10:41.60\00:10:43.94 once a week, they eat cheese, okay. 00:10:43.97\00:10:47.54 What else do they eat? 00:10:47.58\00:10:48.91 Well, the thing is, most of what they... 00:10:48.94\00:10:51.28 Large quantity of what they eat is 00:10:51.31\00:10:53.68 coming from their vegetable garden. 00:10:53.72\00:10:55.32 So they have vegetable gardens? So they have vegetable gardens. 00:10:55.35\00:10:57.99 Some of the foods that they're eating, 00:10:58.02\00:10:59.35 they have a high protein, 00:10:59.39\00:11:00.72 a flat bread that they make from wheat. 00:11:00.76\00:11:02.49 Oh, it sounds good. 00:11:02.52\00:11:03.86 Tomatoes, almonds, barley, fava beans, chick peas, 00:11:03.89\00:11:07.50 these make up a bulk of their diet. 00:11:07.53\00:11:09.96 And what about leafy greens? 00:11:10.00\00:11:11.67 And a lot of leafy greens also. 00:11:11.70\00:11:13.57 Is this the Mediterranean diet? 00:11:13.60\00:11:15.50 Right because they're in Italy, 00:11:15.54\00:11:17.07 so they're eating more 00:11:17.11\00:11:18.44 of the Mediterranean style diet. 00:11:18.47\00:11:20.38 And if they're using any oils, 00:11:20.41\00:11:21.78 it's that organic extra virgin olive oil. 00:11:21.81\00:11:24.51 And are they couch potatoes? Right. 00:15:11.94\00:15:14.21 And it's a smoggy place. 00:15:14.24\00:15:15.71 It's a smoggy place which shows 00:15:15.74\00:15:17.61 that you can still live in an urban area, 00:15:17.65\00:15:20.52 live a long, healthy life. 00:15:20.55\00:15:21.95 But these are the identifying factors. 00:15:21.98\00:15:24.09 It's quite amazing, you know that. 00:15:24.12\00:15:26.05 No smoking, they had an importance of family, 00:15:26.09\00:15:28.69 they got regular exercise, social engagement. 00:15:28.72\00:15:31.96 Spirituality religion played an important role they believe. 00:15:31.99\00:15:35.03 That gives you peace. 00:15:35.06\00:15:36.40 And that helps give you peace and control over your stress. 00:15:36.43\00:15:39.10 Moderate caloric intake 00:15:39.13\00:15:40.64 and eat more of a plant-based type of diet. 00:15:40.67\00:15:43.54 Not all of them were vegetarians 00:15:43.57\00:15:44.91 like the Sardinians, but they were semi plant-based, 00:15:44.94\00:15:47.68 you know, they eat meat just a... 00:15:47.71\00:15:49.64 Maybe once a week as when they have their meat 00:15:49.68\00:15:51.98 and is vegetarian. 00:15:52.01\00:15:53.52 I know this is science, isn't it? 00:15:53.55\00:15:54.88 This is all based on science and research. 00:15:54.92\00:15:56.75 This is not religious fanaticism. 00:15:56.79\00:15:59.02 No. 00:15:59.05\00:16:00.39 Now, I want to say it to the camera, 00:16:00.42\00:16:02.06 I wanna say to my friends who're watching, 00:16:02.09\00:16:04.29 we're not saved by what we eat 00:16:04.33\00:16:06.36 or what we drink or what we don't eat 00:16:06.39\00:16:08.80 or what we don't drink. 00:16:08.83\00:16:10.37 We are saved by the grace of God. 00:16:10.40\00:16:13.23 We're saved by the blood of Jesus. 00:16:13.27\00:16:15.74 In this ministry, 00:16:15.77\00:16:17.11 we believe in the Gospel of Christ. 00:16:17.14\00:16:20.38 And so we're not saved by being vegetarians 00:16:20.41\00:16:23.85 but listen, Dr. Jesus said in John Chapter 10, 00:16:23.88\00:16:28.78 I believe, "I've come that they may have life 00:16:28.82\00:16:33.02 and have it more abundantly." 00:16:33.05\00:16:34.76 Right. 00:16:34.79\00:16:36.12 Comment on it please? Well, that's true. 00:16:36.16\00:16:37.66 And Lord wants us to be healthy. 00:16:37.69\00:16:39.76 As Christians, we should be the healthiest of everyone 00:16:39.79\00:16:42.60 because we need to get out and spread that gospel 00:16:42.63\00:16:44.67 that Jesus has called us to do. 00:16:44.70\00:16:46.13 So it's not really good news 00:16:46.17\00:16:48.70 if you're having a diet 00:16:48.74\00:16:50.44 that's going to give you cancer or heart disease? 00:16:50.47\00:16:52.94 No. And you know what? 00:16:52.97\00:16:54.84 That affects your spirituality. 00:16:54.88\00:16:57.45 If you're sick, it's hard to praise the Lord, 00:16:57.48\00:17:00.55 it's hard to concentrate on the scriptures. 00:17:00.58\00:17:04.55 But when you're healthy and vibrant, 00:17:04.59\00:17:06.45 you can live life as Jesus says more abundantly. 00:17:06.49\00:17:08.96 Now, I got to make this statement. 00:17:08.99\00:17:10.79 Okay. 00:17:10.83\00:17:12.16 Jesus, our Lord, our Savior, 00:17:12.19\00:17:16.16 through whose grace we are saved... 00:17:16.20\00:17:18.63 Right. 00:17:18.67\00:17:20.00 Ate fish. Yeah. 00:17:20.04\00:17:21.87 He ate, you know, Jesus ate the Mediterranean diet. 00:17:21.90\00:17:25.14 Now I'm talking about not today's Mediterranean diet, 00:17:25.17\00:17:27.64 I'm talking about the ancient Mediterranean diet 00:17:27.68\00:17:29.71 during the Bible times. 00:17:29.74\00:17:31.38 And that was predominantly a plant-based diet, 00:17:31.41\00:17:34.08 lots of fruits and vegetables are plant foods 00:17:34.12\00:17:36.18 and they had some fish as well too. 00:17:36.22\00:17:38.39 Now, are there not benefits 00:17:38.42\00:17:40.72 in eating wild Alaskan Salmon? 00:17:40.76\00:17:44.63 Well, the wild Alaskan Salmon, every time a wild, 00:17:44.66\00:17:47.73 not farmed there is problems. 00:17:47.76\00:17:50.33 Yeah. 00:17:50.37\00:17:51.70 You know, it is a source of what we call 00:17:51.73\00:17:53.84 Omega 3 fatty acids. 00:17:53.87\00:17:55.80 These are essential fats 00:17:55.84\00:17:57.41 that we don't get enough of it in our diet. 00:17:57.44\00:17:59.21 Now, of course, the salmon are getting it from algae, 00:17:59.24\00:18:01.84 they're actually getting from plant sources 00:18:01.88\00:18:03.61 and it's concentrated in their flesh. 00:18:03.65\00:18:06.01 And also if someone doesn't eat fish, 00:18:06.05\00:18:07.72 they can get it from flax seeds, 00:18:07.75\00:18:09.45 from chia seeds, from walnuts. 00:18:09.48\00:18:11.29 Those are also good plant sources of Omega 3 fatty acids. 00:18:11.32\00:18:14.62 But the farmed raised fish. 00:18:14.66\00:18:18.59 It's bad stuff, isn't it? 00:18:18.63\00:18:19.96 Well, here we go again. Yeah. 00:18:20.00\00:18:21.33 This is a big agriculture business, right? 00:18:21.36\00:18:22.90 Yes, it is. Money. 00:18:22.93\00:18:24.57 And on land, they do farming of the cows and so forth 00:18:24.60\00:18:28.14 and they feed them improperly 00:18:28.17\00:18:29.87 and they're not healthy and the same things going on, 00:18:29.90\00:18:33.17 so they're maximizing the production 00:18:33.21\00:18:35.38 to make more of these salmons. 00:18:35.41\00:18:37.25 They say you can hardly walk between the fish. 00:18:37.28\00:18:39.68 I mean you just walk on their backs. 00:18:39.71\00:18:41.05 Though they're all cramped together 00:18:41.08\00:18:42.85 and they use chemicals in those waters 00:18:42.88\00:18:45.12 to make sure that they don't get diseases. 00:18:45.15\00:18:47.49 And often they feed them awful, every day I mean. 00:18:47.52\00:18:51.46 Right. It's not a health... Let's put it this way. 00:18:51.49\00:18:53.73 If they're out wild, 00:18:53.76\00:18:55.53 eating the way they're supposed to eat, 00:18:55.56\00:18:57.37 they will be much healthier, 00:18:57.40\00:18:58.90 but they're sickly that some of this fish are sickly 00:18:58.93\00:19:02.10 and they crammed in an environment. 00:19:02.14\00:19:04.17 But from a business standpoint it's maximizing production. 00:19:04.21\00:19:07.34 I'm not absolutely certain where I read this, 00:19:07.38\00:19:10.01 it could have been Newsweek or Time magazine. 00:19:10.05\00:19:12.68 But it said, "If a woman is pregnant, 00:19:12.71\00:19:14.92 she shouldn't have more than 00:19:14.95\00:19:16.79 four ounces of farm 00:19:16.82\00:19:20.36 raised fish a month." 00:19:20.39\00:19:23.79 Because it's so bad for the baby. 00:19:23.83\00:19:26.49 Yeah. 00:19:26.53\00:19:27.86 Poisonous stuff. 00:19:27.90\00:19:29.23 The way it is, we're concerned about, 00:19:29.26\00:19:31.07 you know, the ocean is one big soup 00:19:31.10\00:19:32.97 and there's pollutants going in. 00:19:33.00\00:19:34.37 And Jack Kustow, 00:19:34.40\00:19:35.74 I'm a good friend of his son John Michel Kustow... 00:19:35.77\00:19:38.74 Oh, yes. 00:19:38.77\00:19:40.11 Jack Kustow back in the 70's in his expeditions 00:19:40.14\00:19:42.41 would go up into Arctic regions 00:19:42.44\00:19:44.31 and other place of the world where man has never been. 00:19:44.35\00:19:46.88 They take the fish out, they tested it, 00:19:46.92\00:19:49.08 they found it had significant levels of DDT 00:19:49.12\00:19:51.45 and pesticide residue. 00:19:51.49\00:19:53.12 So that is a concern in the oceans today. 00:19:53.15\00:19:56.76 But the smaller the fish, the less of the chemicals. 00:19:56.79\00:20:00.96 Yeah, because the bigger fish eat the smaller fish 00:20:01.00\00:20:03.40 and it concentrates up through, 00:20:03.43\00:20:05.40 so the bigger fish really are quite toxic in many cases 00:20:05.43\00:20:09.17 because they're concentrated. 00:20:09.20\00:20:10.57 So if you're going to eat fish, 00:20:10.61\00:20:12.47 you better eat what sardines or something like that. 00:20:12.51\00:20:15.54 They'll be less contaminated. 00:20:15.58\00:20:18.21 Less contamination. Okay. 00:20:18.25\00:20:19.91 Now, let me say this to you, Doctor, 00:20:19.95\00:20:21.58 because you're a world authority on this. 00:20:21.62\00:20:26.45 Many people and some of these people 00:20:26.49\00:20:28.72 I know, pride themselves on being vegetarians. 00:20:28.76\00:20:33.93 Right. 00:20:33.96\00:20:35.30 And some of them doubly pride themselves 00:20:35.33\00:20:38.57 on being vegans. 00:20:38.60\00:20:40.27 I'm a vegan myself. 00:20:40.30\00:20:41.94 Well, I'm not telling about you 00:20:41.97\00:20:43.30 but I do know and you know 00:20:43.34\00:20:45.57 some people who are big into being vegetarians, 00:20:45.61\00:20:50.91 and they fill themselves up with sugar. 00:20:50.95\00:20:54.12 Have you ever been to some of their church socials? 00:20:54.15\00:20:56.58 I know. 00:20:56.62\00:20:57.95 I mean it's almost murder. 00:20:57.99\00:21:02.16 I mean the people are stuffing down their throats 00:21:02.19\00:21:05.36 lots of sugar. 00:21:05.39\00:21:06.80 There's healthy vegetarian diets 00:21:06.83\00:21:08.83 and then there's unhealthy vegetarian diets. 00:21:08.86\00:21:10.87 And if you're vegetarian, 00:21:10.90\00:21:12.60 you're eating lots of saturated fat 00:21:12.63\00:21:14.67 and cheese and egg yolks and so forth, you're gonna... 00:21:14.70\00:21:18.34 That's not a healthy thing. 00:21:18.37\00:21:19.71 And all that sugar, refined empty calories. 00:21:19.74\00:21:21.08 How bad is refined sugar? How bad is it? 00:21:21.11\00:21:23.38 It's bad. How bad? 00:21:23.41\00:21:25.61 It's very bad because it's completely concentrated 00:21:25.65\00:21:29.22 what we call it empty calories. 00:21:29.25\00:21:30.59 There's no nutrients in it at all, 00:21:30.62\00:21:32.35 it's very high in sugar. 00:21:32.39\00:21:33.79 This affects your brain, the way you think, 00:21:33.82\00:21:36.46 it increases your blood sugar, it's doing severe damage. 00:21:36.49\00:21:40.26 We eat about... 00:21:40.30\00:21:41.73 The average American eats 120 pounds of sugar a year. 00:21:41.76\00:21:45.63 Hundred and twenty pounds! 00:21:45.67\00:21:47.00 Now, listen to this my friend, 00:21:47.04\00:21:48.60 sorry to be the bearer of such awful news, 00:21:48.64\00:21:52.51 the average American eats how many pounds a year? 00:21:52.54\00:21:56.51 A hundred and twenty pounds a year. 00:21:56.54\00:21:57.88 A hundred and twenty pounds of sugar. 00:21:57.91\00:22:00.05 Does this influence the way we think? 00:22:00.08\00:22:02.75 There's no question 00:22:02.78\00:22:04.12 because what happens is first of all, 00:22:04.15\00:22:06.72 when you eat that much amount of sugar, 00:22:06.76\00:22:08.22 you know, your blood sugar goes real up 00:22:08.26\00:22:09.76 and you get a lot of energy. 00:22:09.79\00:22:11.13 But then it drops, 00:22:11.16\00:22:12.53 and then you feeling like a stupid, you don't feel... 00:22:12.56\00:22:15.33 You don't have the energy. 00:22:15.36\00:22:16.70 And this influences the processes of the mind? 00:22:16.73\00:22:20.70 That's right. 00:22:20.74\00:22:22.07 And so people find it very, very difficult 00:22:22.10\00:22:25.27 to think rationally and clearly. 00:22:25.31\00:22:27.61 Is this true? 00:22:27.64\00:22:28.98 That's true, and it goes the same 00:22:29.01\00:22:30.35 with all that extra fat people are eating too. 00:22:30.38\00:22:32.25 It slows, it inhibits the cerebral circulation, 00:22:32.28\00:22:36.58 blood circulation to your brain. 00:22:36.62\00:22:37.95 So there's a relationship between what we eat 00:22:37.99\00:22:40.86 and how we think? 00:22:40.89\00:22:42.29 There is. 00:22:42.32\00:22:43.66 And so fuzzy thinking may be caused by fuzzy eating. 00:22:43.69\00:22:48.23 That's correct. That's correct. 00:22:48.26\00:22:51.37 America today, we know in America today, 00:22:51.40\00:22:54.14 we have a crisis wherever you look. 00:22:54.17\00:22:56.77 Maybe, one of the reasons we have this crisis 00:22:56.81\00:23:00.74 is because of the junk 00:23:00.78\00:23:02.74 that we are putting into the temple of God. 00:23:02.78\00:23:05.71 You know, most people treat their bodies, 00:23:05.75\00:23:08.15 which is a temple of God 00:23:08.18\00:23:09.58 as a trash can with a hairy lid. 00:23:09.62\00:23:12.69 In other words, they just throw everything in that. 00:23:12.72\00:23:14.69 A trash can with a hairy lid? 00:23:14.72\00:23:16.06 Well, a trash can with a hairy lid. 00:23:16.09\00:23:17.63 Disgusting. 00:23:17.66\00:23:18.99 And if we're living temple, 00:23:19.03\00:23:20.36 we wanna put the best things in it for God. 00:23:20.40\00:23:22.26 What about corn syrup? 00:23:22.30\00:23:24.07 Corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup? 00:23:24.10\00:23:25.97 Mm-hmm. 00:23:26.00\00:23:27.34 Well, that's a problem. That's a... 00:23:27.37\00:23:28.70 You know, it's one of the cheapest forms 00:23:28.74\00:23:30.07 of sugar on the diet. 00:23:30.11\00:23:31.44 And so what's happened is the government 00:23:31.47\00:23:33.14 has given these big subsidies to the corn growers 00:23:33.17\00:23:36.85 and they make the corn syrup 00:23:36.88\00:23:38.28 so it's cheaper than caned sugar. 00:23:38.31\00:23:40.42 And they put it in from soft drinks 00:23:40.45\00:23:42.65 to all these jams and jellies, 00:23:42.68\00:23:44.89 to all the things that have sweetness. 00:23:44.92\00:23:46.25 Corn syrup. High fructose corn syrup. 00:23:46.29\00:23:47.92 It's very inexpensive form of sugar that people, 00:23:47.96\00:23:50.73 the manufacturers produce. 00:23:50.76\00:23:52.09 And then we grow this because we have prodigious, 00:23:52.13\00:23:55.40 generous farm subsidies. 00:23:55.43\00:23:57.60 That's right. That's why it's so cheap. 00:23:57.63\00:23:59.27 And because of the subsidies, we're not gonna get into this. 00:23:59.30\00:24:03.30 But there's some parts of the world 00:24:03.34\00:24:04.97 where people are committing suicide 00:24:05.01\00:24:08.01 because they can't compete. 00:24:08.04\00:24:10.28 And we're putting out these corn syrups 00:24:10.31\00:24:13.85 that are poisoning the population, 00:24:13.88\00:24:16.52 so the population cannot think 00:24:16.55\00:24:19.42 reasonably and rationally. 00:24:19.45\00:24:21.49 And it's all political. 00:24:21.52\00:24:22.92 Getting these subsidies to the politics, 00:24:22.96\00:24:25.59 you don't see subsidies in broccoli, do you? 00:24:25.63\00:24:28.73 Cauliflower, 00:24:28.76\00:24:30.10 I mean I don't see any subsidies on that. 00:24:30.13\00:24:31.67 Not since President Bush was the president, 00:24:31.70\00:24:33.80 you know, That's right. 00:24:33.84\00:24:35.17 He didn't like broccoli. Okay. 00:24:35.20\00:24:36.54 Now what does the Bible say of anything 00:24:36.57\00:24:39.44 about eating and drinking? 00:24:39.47\00:24:42.74 What about the original diet? 00:24:42.78\00:24:45.75 You know, we believe we're saved by grace alone, 00:24:45.78\00:24:48.15 through faith alone, 00:24:48.18\00:24:49.52 but we believe that this book tells us 00:24:49.55\00:24:51.32 how to be happy and healthy and prosperous. 00:24:51.35\00:24:54.32 What does it say about the original diet? 00:24:54.36\00:24:55.79 Well, you know, the Garden of Eden 00:24:55.82\00:24:57.73 is where the optimal diet God gave man. 00:24:57.76\00:25:02.26 And that was in Genesis 1:29 00:25:02.30\00:25:05.23 and which is all plant based diet. 00:25:05.27\00:25:08.10 There was no eating of meat and so forth, 00:25:08.14\00:25:10.34 but it was all plant foods 00:25:10.37\00:25:12.07 and that's God intended us to eat that way. 00:25:12.11\00:25:14.64 That was the optimal type of diet. 00:25:14.68\00:25:16.44 So man was given this diet 00:25:16.48\00:25:17.98 to live for eternity basically, wasn't it? 00:25:18.01\00:25:19.41 Exactly. 00:25:19.45\00:25:20.78 Man originally in the Garden of Eden 00:25:20.82\00:25:22.62 was designed to live forever. 00:25:22.65\00:25:24.19 But he was given a choice, 00:25:24.22\00:25:25.79 like we're given choices with our diet lifestyle. 00:25:25.82\00:25:27.69 And so it appears, 00:25:27.72\00:25:29.06 if we can get back to this diet, 00:25:29.09\00:25:31.89 we're going to be healthier, happier, 00:25:31.93\00:25:34.90 more prosperous and we're going to enjoy 00:25:34.93\00:25:38.17 longer lives like the Hunzas and other people. 00:25:38.20\00:25:41.44 That's right. 00:25:41.47\00:25:42.80 And what's interesting to point out, 00:25:42.84\00:25:44.17 the scripture indicates too 00:25:44.21\00:25:45.54 that we're going back to this type of diet 00:25:45.57\00:25:48.11 in God's new kingdom in heaven. 00:25:48.14\00:25:50.38 The gospel, the Bible says in Romans 14:17, 00:25:50.41\00:25:55.08 it's not about eating and drinking 00:25:55.12\00:25:57.49 but it's about joy and peace, 00:25:57.52\00:25:59.59 and happiness and holiness in the Holy Spirit. 00:25:59.62\00:26:04.06 Having said this, 00:26:04.09\00:26:05.86 the body is a temple of God. 00:26:05.89\00:26:08.20 Jesus came that we might have life 00:26:08.23\00:26:11.17 and that we might have it more abundantly. 00:26:11.20\00:26:15.44 As we finish this segment of this program 00:26:15.47\00:26:18.97 on the New Health Revolution, 00:26:19.01\00:26:21.41 what would you say to the audience 00:26:21.44\00:26:23.35 so that they can be happier and healthier and live longer? 00:26:23.38\00:26:27.42 Well, I think, of course, as you point out 00:26:27.45\00:26:29.42 having a relationship with Jesus Christ 00:26:29.45\00:26:31.52 is the key to enjoying really optimal health 00:26:31.55\00:26:35.66 and combine that with a healthier lifestyle, 00:26:35.69\00:26:39.06 you have the best going for you in all the ways. 00:26:39.09\00:26:42.86 Doctor, it's been our privilege 00:26:42.90\00:26:44.97 and we're going to have you back 00:26:45.00\00:26:46.70 in our next segment. 00:26:46.74\00:26:48.80 And we're going to talk about the New Health Revolution. 00:26:48.84\00:26:51.87 We're going to talk about the super, super, super foods. 00:26:51.91\00:26:55.78 Right. 00:26:55.81\00:26:57.15 We're so glad that you joined us today. 00:26:57.18\00:26:59.31 Don't go away because we'll be back soon 00:26:59.35\00:27:01.95 as we talk about the New Health Revolution. 00:27:01.98\00:27:07.02 Stay with us and thank you, Dr. Westerdahl. 00:27:07.06\00:27:09.86 Thank you. 00:27:09.89\00:27:11.23
