Tell me this. 00:02:53.47\00:02:55.74 The Webster 00:02:55.77\00:02:57.37 New World Dictionary defines it is, 00:02:57.41\00:02:59.51 "The process of growing old 00:02:59.54\00:03:01.44 and showing signs of growing old." 00:03:01.48\00:03:03.28 I understand that. Yeah. 00:03:03.31\00:03:04.65 That's kind of an old definition. 00:03:04.68\00:03:06.48 There's new things that we'll talk about today. 00:03:06.51\00:03:08.02 That's an old definition from old people. 00:03:08.05\00:03:09.68 Yeah. 00:03:09.72\00:03:11.05 And there's actually 00:03:11.09\00:03:12.42 there's two different ages we have, 00:03:12.45\00:03:13.96 we have chronological age, it's our birthday years 00:03:13.99\00:03:16.86 and then it's the biological age, 00:03:16.89\00:03:18.79 which is the amount of years 00:03:18.83\00:03:20.66 that we are by based on our lifestyle. 00:03:20.70\00:03:22.83 Yeah. 00:03:22.86\00:03:24.20 And we can actually be younger than we are. 00:03:24.23\00:03:26.70 This is the one that counts. 00:03:26.74\00:03:28.14 That's the one that really counts. 00:03:28.17\00:03:29.50 Well, I'm glad to hear this. That's right. 00:03:29.54\00:03:31.24 Yeah. Hallelujah I say. 00:03:31.27\00:03:32.61 And you can be younger than your chronological years 00:03:32.64\00:03:35.34 by living a healthy lifestyle. 00:03:35.38\00:03:36.98 And so today, we're going to see 00:03:37.01\00:03:38.91 how we can somehow move ourselves 00:03:38.95\00:03:42.95 to a better biological age. 00:03:42.98\00:03:46.05 That's right. 00:03:46.09\00:03:47.42 Is this what we're trying to do? 00:03:47.46\00:03:48.79 The other things we're talking about anti-ageing. 00:03:48.82\00:03:50.16 Lot of people want to know, 00:03:50.19\00:03:51.53 what's the definition of anti-ageing, 00:03:51.56\00:03:53.06 the American Academy of Anti-Ageing Medicine, 00:03:53.09\00:03:55.56 the physicians that are part of this group. 00:03:55.60\00:03:56.93 Who are these people? 00:03:56.97\00:03:58.30 This is a group of medical doctors 00:03:58.33\00:04:00.40 who are interested in seeing 00:04:00.44\00:04:01.90 what we can do to slow down the ageing process, 00:04:01.94\00:04:04.74 and through healthy lifestyle and certain technologies 00:04:04.77\00:04:07.98 to actually reverse the ageing process. 00:04:08.01\00:04:09.34 And these doctors are, you know, 00:04:09.38\00:04:11.61 they're really good, are they? 00:04:11.65\00:04:12.98 They're medical doctors specializing in this field. 00:04:13.01\00:04:15.52 So anti-ageing is to stop slow or delay the aging process. 00:04:15.55\00:04:20.72 Yes. 00:04:20.76\00:04:22.09 And there's things that we can do 00:04:22.12\00:04:23.46 that we can halt it from where we are, 00:04:23.49\00:04:26.26 we can slow it down. 00:04:26.29\00:04:27.63 And actually if you're living a bad life, 00:04:27.66\00:04:29.50 so you can actually reverse the ageing process. 00:04:29.53\00:04:30.87 That's good news, isn't it? Which is very good news. 00:04:30.90\00:04:32.57 Because there's a lot of sickness here in America. 00:04:32.60\00:04:34.57 There is. 00:04:34.60\00:04:35.94 And we've got a big health crisis, 00:04:35.97\00:04:37.31 haven't we? 00:04:37.34\00:04:38.67 We do. It's collapsing. 00:04:38.71\00:04:40.04 That's right. 00:04:40.08\00:04:41.41 And nobody, most politicians don't have the answers. 00:04:41.44\00:04:43.65 They don't. 00:04:43.68\00:04:45.01 They're not the scientists. No, no. 00:04:45.05\00:04:46.78 Okay, tell us about 00:04:46.82\00:04:48.15 the anti-ageing diet recommendations. 00:04:48.18\00:04:51.55 Well, this is what the American Academy 00:04:51.59\00:04:54.29 of Anti-Ageing Medicine 00:04:54.32\00:04:55.72 recommends for a type of diet we should eat to live longer 00:04:55.76\00:04:59.06 and that is to eat a variety of plant foods 00:04:59.09\00:05:02.40 to maintain a healthy weight, to choose a diet low in fat 00:05:02.43\00:05:05.40 and cholesterol, 00:05:05.43\00:05:06.77 to choose a diet with plenty of fruits, 00:05:06.80\00:05:08.40 vegetables, and whole grains, 00:05:08.44\00:05:10.94 and to use sugar, salt, and sodium in moderation. 00:05:10.97\00:05:14.84 We eat too much of those types of foods. 00:05:14.88\00:05:16.78 Now it seems to me from what I've read 00:05:16.81\00:05:19.78 and what I'm listening to you 00:05:19.81\00:05:22.35 that this sort of diet 00:05:22.38\00:05:26.05 is not original. 00:05:26.09\00:05:28.56 This diet is actually written in the most wonderful book 00:05:28.59\00:05:32.33 that the world has ever produced. 00:05:32.36\00:05:33.80 That's the Bible. That's right. 00:05:33.83\00:05:35.16 Is this true? That is. 00:05:35.20\00:05:36.53 And the Bible has a lot to say about health and longevity. 00:05:36.56\00:05:39.87 And we'll talk about that because God, 00:05:39.90\00:05:42.34 our great physician, the great physician, right? 00:05:42.37\00:05:44.84 He knows what's best for us. 00:05:44.87\00:05:46.68 And most folks don't seem to be 00:05:46.71\00:05:48.04 aware of these amazing facts, do they? 00:05:48.08\00:05:49.71 They aren't. A lot of people who... 00:05:49.74\00:05:52.05 They don't study their Bibles and they're not aware 00:05:52.08\00:05:54.28 of these health principles that we find in the Bible. 00:05:54.32\00:05:56.45 And really that's why we've got in America 00:05:56.48\00:05:58.35 this health crisis. 00:05:58.39\00:05:59.72 So much cancer and so much heart disease. 00:05:59.75\00:06:02.76 And what did Jesus say? 00:06:02.79\00:06:04.23 Jesus said, John 10, 00:06:04.26\00:06:06.49 "I am come that they might have life, 00:06:06.53\00:06:09.06 and that they might have it more abundantly." 00:06:09.10\00:06:11.57 That's right. 00:06:11.60\00:06:12.93 Another translation says, 00:06:12.97\00:06:14.30 "They might have it to the full." 00:06:14.34\00:06:15.67 That's right. 00:06:15.70\00:06:17.04 So God doesn't wanna take anything from us. 00:06:17.07\00:06:18.57 He wants to give us something. 00:06:18.61\00:06:19.97 He wants to enrich our lives. 00:06:20.01\00:06:22.08 That's right. 00:06:22.11\00:06:23.45 And He wants us to live a long healthy life 00:06:23.48\00:06:26.75 and so we could serve Him better. 00:06:26.78\00:06:28.52 Yes. 00:06:28.55\00:06:29.88 So talk to me about 00:06:29.92\00:06:31.25 this the early days of the human race? 00:06:31.29\00:06:33.86 Well, you know, the Lord said, you know, we ended up sinning, 00:06:33.89\00:06:38.63 and that's what caused the premature ageing in life. 00:06:38.66\00:06:41.90 We are in a sin cursed world. 00:06:41.93\00:06:43.97 Isn't this true? Yes. 00:06:44.00\00:06:45.47 And the Bible does tell us 00:06:45.50\00:06:46.87 that we have the capabilities to live to be 120 years. 00:06:46.90\00:06:50.87 And what's very interesting about this 00:06:50.91\00:06:52.77 is that even the scientists today, 00:06:52.81\00:06:55.48 forget them. 00:06:55.51\00:06:56.85 They're not necessarily reading the Bible, 00:06:56.88\00:06:58.35 but they have done the calculations 00:06:58.38\00:07:00.62 and figured out what we are capable of living. 00:07:00.65\00:07:03.42 And they have shown that we are capable of living to be 00:07:03.45\00:07:06.35 120 years of age. 00:07:06.39\00:07:07.72 This is great news for me, you see. 00:07:07.76\00:07:09.09 Yeah, that's right. 00:07:09.12\00:07:10.46 So I hope that Carter Report will be here when you're 120. 00:07:10.49\00:07:14.76 So glad you came today. 00:07:14.80\00:07:16.30 Now, we have all the sickness, 00:07:16.33\00:07:19.67 we got all this premature death, 00:07:19.70\00:07:21.04 we got all this cancer, 00:07:21.07\00:07:22.40 all these diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer's, 00:07:22.44\00:07:25.57 everything, 00:07:25.61\00:07:26.94 but you're telling me that this text in the Bible, 00:07:26.98\00:07:30.15 I've read this text before 00:07:30.18\00:07:31.51 but this is sort of hitting me today. 00:07:31.55\00:07:33.55 This text says that a person even in a sin cursed world 00:07:33.58\00:07:37.85 if he follows the health laws of the Bible 00:07:37.89\00:07:42.69 can live to be 120. 00:07:42.72\00:07:44.26 The potential is there to do that, exactly. 00:07:44.29\00:07:45.96 That's what you're saying. And that's right. 00:07:45.99\00:07:47.63 And scientists confirm this today. 00:07:47.66\00:07:49.63 Yeah, tell me more about it, please? 00:07:49.66\00:07:51.43 Well, you know, there are different... 00:07:51.47\00:07:53.34 It's interesting when you look 00:07:53.37\00:07:54.70 at the different cultures of the world. 00:07:54.74\00:07:56.07 That's one thing to look at is 00:07:56.10\00:07:58.44 how do people that live to be 100 years of age or older, 00:07:58.47\00:08:01.14 how do they live? 00:08:01.18\00:08:02.51 And a few years ago, National Geographic 00:08:02.54\00:08:05.08 came out with a special issue called 00:08:05.11\00:08:07.02 The Secrets of Living Longer. 00:08:07.05\00:08:09.68 And they identified what we call Blue Zones. 00:08:09.72\00:08:11.99 They identified populations 00:08:12.02\00:08:14.16 that have extraordinary health and longevity. 00:08:14.19\00:08:16.93 Yeah. 00:08:16.96\00:08:18.29 And they identified three areas of the world, 00:08:18.33\00:08:20.00 Okinawa, Japan, Sardinia, Italy, 00:08:20.03\00:08:22.73 and here in the United States, the Blue Zone of America 00:08:22.76\00:08:26.03 and another one in the world. 00:08:26.07\00:08:27.40 Yeah. Loma Linda, California. 00:08:27.44\00:08:29.24 In spite of the pollution. 00:08:29.27\00:08:31.47 In spite of the pollution. 00:08:31.51\00:08:32.84 Because there's plenty of pollution at Loma Linda. 00:08:32.87\00:08:34.74 There is. 00:08:34.78\00:08:36.11 And people are in this Blue Zone, 00:08:36.14\00:08:37.81 they're living longer. 00:08:37.85\00:08:39.18 That's right. 00:08:39.21\00:08:40.55 Let's talk about some of these Blue Zones. 00:08:40.58\00:08:41.92 And let, we'll start off. We can't do it. 00:08:41.95\00:08:43.28 We don't have time to talk about all of them. 00:08:43.32\00:08:44.65 No. 00:08:44.69\00:08:46.02 But I want to talk about 00:08:46.05\00:08:47.39 these Blue Zone regions of the world. 00:08:47.42\00:08:48.76 And we'll mention a culture of longevity 00:08:48.79\00:08:50.13 where people live very long here. 00:08:50.16\00:08:51.49 That's not because 00:08:51.53\00:08:52.86 they're just feeling blue, is it? 00:08:52.89\00:08:54.23 They actually had a map 00:08:54.26\00:08:55.60 of different parts of the world, 00:08:55.63\00:08:56.97 they had this blue marking pen and circled it. 00:08:57.00\00:08:58.53 And they say, "Hey, let's call that Blue Zone." 00:08:58.57\00:08:59.97 Yeah. 00:09:00.00\00:09:01.34 And that's how it came about. Okay. 00:09:01.37\00:09:02.70 Now since the National Geographic 00:09:02.74\00:09:04.07 came out a few years ago, 00:09:04.11\00:09:05.44 they identified two other ones. 00:09:05.47\00:09:06.81 Okay. 00:09:06.84\00:09:08.18 Ikaria, Greece, and also Nicoya, 00:09:08.21\00:09:10.48 Costa Rica is other longevity centers. 00:09:10.51\00:09:13.52 So these are all the different Blue Zones of the world. 00:09:13.55\00:09:15.12 You got five there, haven't you? 00:09:15.15\00:09:16.58 There's five Blue Zones right now 00:09:16.62\00:09:18.05 that have been identified. 00:09:18.09\00:09:19.42 And these zones where people are living 00:09:19.45\00:09:23.09 extraordinary lives. 00:09:23.12\00:09:24.46 Yeah. 00:09:24.49\00:09:25.83 So what scientists have done is they're taking, 00:09:25.86\00:09:27.76 they're looking at all these Blue Zones. 00:09:27.80\00:09:29.13 Yeah. 00:09:29.16\00:09:30.50 And they came up with these characteristics 00:09:30.53\00:09:32.27 that it seemed to be the things 00:09:32.30\00:09:35.44 that they are all following. 00:09:35.47\00:09:36.81 Now, Doctor, I wanna say a word to my audience. 00:09:36.84\00:09:39.57 Now listen, my dear friends, you better listen to this. 00:09:39.61\00:09:43.28 And we all better get in a Blue Zone. 00:09:43.31\00:09:45.48 This is important, not only for you, 00:09:45.51\00:09:48.22 but for your children and for your grandchildren 00:09:48.25\00:09:51.09 and for your great grandchildren. 00:09:51.12\00:09:52.69 Right, that's exactly right. 00:09:52.72\00:09:54.06 You could maybe, you can make it to 120. 00:09:54.09\00:09:55.79 That's exactly right. 00:09:55.82\00:09:57.39 Now, they found these characteristics 00:09:57.43\00:09:59.49 with all these different Blue Zones, 00:09:59.53\00:10:00.86 these five different countries. 00:10:00.90\00:10:02.23 First of all, no smoking. 00:10:02.26\00:10:03.83 The other thing is importance of family. 00:10:03.87\00:10:06.37 They have a strong family bond. 00:10:06.40\00:10:09.40 Regular exercise. 00:10:09.44\00:10:10.77 They're physically fit. Yeah. 00:10:10.81\00:10:12.17 They have a social engagement, socialization... 00:10:12.21\00:10:14.58 Do you exercise? 00:10:14.61\00:10:15.94 Yeah, I swim a mile every day. You swim a mile every day? 00:10:15.98\00:10:17.31 And I work out at the gym, every day. 00:10:17.35\00:10:19.61 I used to be in competitive swimming. 00:10:19.65\00:10:21.25 So I've swam Alcatraz a couple of years ago actually. 00:10:21.28\00:10:24.35 Not trying to get out. 00:10:24.39\00:10:26.39 No, I was. 00:10:26.42\00:10:28.02 No, I'm glad the sharks weren't chasing me up. 00:10:28.06\00:10:29.52 Yeah, yeah. 00:10:29.56\00:10:30.89 And then social engagement, they are socially involved, 00:10:30.93\00:10:33.90 they've engagement in spirituality and religion. 00:10:33.93\00:10:36.87 So they have faith. So they have faith. 00:10:36.90\00:10:38.77 And a lot of studies are showing that people 00:10:38.80\00:10:40.54 who go to church regularly that they read their Bible... 00:10:40.57\00:10:42.47 Yeah, they live longer. 00:10:42.50\00:10:43.84 I've heard they live longer. 00:10:43.87\00:10:45.21 It stands to reason, you have peace of mind. 00:10:45.24\00:10:47.58 That's exactly right. 00:10:47.61\00:10:49.41 Also, moderate caloric intake, they don't overeat. 00:10:49.44\00:10:53.05 And all these cultures 00:10:53.08\00:10:54.72 have more of a plant-based diet. 00:10:54.75\00:10:56.48 You see, they're semi-vegetarian, 00:10:56.52\00:10:58.69 or vegetarian itself, like in Loma Linda Blue Zone. 00:10:58.72\00:11:01.32 This is quite amazing, isn't it? 00:11:01.36\00:11:02.69 It is. 00:11:02.72\00:11:04.06 And so we could overcome the great health crisis 00:11:04.09\00:11:06.49 in this great land 00:11:06.53\00:11:07.86 of the United States of America, 00:11:07.90\00:11:09.76 if we got smarter. That's right. 00:11:09.80\00:11:12.20 This is a case really of dumbness 00:11:12.23\00:11:14.14 and brainwashing. 00:11:14.17\00:11:15.50 Well, that's why we can learn lessons 00:11:15.54\00:11:16.87 from this Blue Zone. 00:11:16.91\00:11:18.24 Yes, absolutely. 00:11:18.27\00:11:19.61 We can say if they can do it, we can do it too. 00:11:19.64\00:11:20.98 That's right. 00:11:21.01\00:11:22.34 Let's talk about Okinawa. 00:11:22.38\00:11:23.71 Let's take one Blue Zone. Yeah. 00:11:23.75\00:11:25.11 The Okinawa people 00:11:25.15\00:11:26.48 when you look at their lifestyle, 00:11:26.51\00:11:27.85 you find that they eat a low-calorie diet. 00:11:27.88\00:11:29.55 They have a plant-based diet. So they're not overweight. 00:11:29.58\00:11:31.85 They're not overweight. They eats lower calorie. 00:11:31.89\00:11:34.49 They eat unrefined carbohydrates. 00:11:34.52\00:11:36.52 They eat a low in protein. 00:11:36.56\00:11:39.13 What's the refined carbohydrate? 00:11:39.16\00:11:40.96 Well, that's like taking white bread. 00:11:41.00\00:11:44.20 That should be whole wheat bread. 00:11:44.23\00:11:45.57 Eat white bread, you soon will be dead. 00:11:45.60\00:11:47.10 Yeah, the whiter the bread, the sooner you're dead. 00:11:47.14\00:11:48.47 They use, you know, 00:11:48.50\00:11:49.84 more brown rice instead of white rice. 00:11:49.87\00:11:51.77 A lot of the breakfast cereals. 00:11:51.81\00:11:53.88 Yeah. They are refined. 00:11:53.91\00:11:55.48 They are called health cereals, but they'll kill you. 00:11:55.51\00:11:58.21 Well, some of them even though they have whole grains, 00:11:58.25\00:11:59.85 they have lot of sugar too. 00:11:59.88\00:12:01.22 Yeah, ton of sugar. 00:12:01.25\00:12:02.58 And then in Okinawa they have a low sodium diet. 00:12:02.62\00:12:05.42 Yep. Now some other aspects of it. 00:12:05.45\00:12:07.19 Now listen to this. 00:12:07.22\00:12:08.56 They eat 9-17 servings of vegetables daily. 00:12:08.59\00:12:11.93 This is astounding. I mean, this is astounding. 00:12:11.96\00:12:14.76 So they're eating a lot of vegetables, 00:12:14.80\00:12:16.67 7-13 servings of whole grains 00:12:16.70\00:12:20.40 and 2-4 servings of calcium-rich foods 00:12:20.44\00:12:23.10 and that's not dairy products, that's green leafy vegetables. 00:12:23.14\00:12:26.61 And hence they eat seaweed, which has... 00:12:26.64\00:12:28.18 Eat seaweed. Seaweed has... 00:12:28.21\00:12:29.71 Yeah, the Japanese are big into seaweed. 00:12:29.74\00:12:31.38 That's right. Yeah. 00:12:31.41\00:12:32.75 Two to four servings of flavonoid-rich foods 00:12:32.78\00:12:34.75 such as green tea, by the way, 00:12:34.78\00:12:36.12 you can get green tea now, there's been no caffeine, 00:12:36.15\00:12:39.29 and still get those benefits. 00:12:39.32\00:12:40.66 Yeah, yeah. 00:12:40.69\00:12:42.02 They eat soybean-based products with these flavonoids, 00:12:42.06\00:12:43.73 and 2-4 servings of fruit a day. 00:12:43.76\00:12:45.86 So that's a typical diet and when it comes to protein, 00:12:45.89\00:12:49.46 only 10% of their calories are kilojoules. 00:12:49.50\00:12:52.73 Come from protein 00:12:52.77\00:12:54.10 and it's primarily mostly plant proteins. 00:12:54.14\00:12:56.94 They eat infrequent sweets. 00:12:56.97\00:12:59.04 They drink a lot of water and little or no alcohol, 00:12:59.07\00:13:02.31 and they use healthy types of oils, 00:13:02.34\00:13:04.11 not the animal fat type oils or the hydrogenated oils. 00:13:04.15\00:13:08.22 These are smart people. They are. 00:13:08.25\00:13:10.09 They haven't been brainwashed by our television. 00:13:10.12\00:13:11.92 That's right. 00:13:11.95\00:13:13.29 And they're following their culture 00:13:13.32\00:13:14.66 and this is the cultural fad. 00:13:14.69\00:13:16.02 Okay. 00:13:16.06\00:13:17.39 Now another Blue Zone, of course, 00:13:17.43\00:13:18.76 that we mentioned earlier 00:13:18.79\00:13:20.13 here are the Seventh-day Adventist 00:13:20.16\00:13:21.86 they're located in Loma Linda, California. 00:13:21.90\00:13:24.23 Well, that's not far from us. 00:13:24.27\00:13:25.63 That's not far from here, Southern California. 00:13:25.67\00:13:27.60 Yeah, about 100 miles. 00:13:27.64\00:13:29.20 That's right. And the people... 00:13:29.24\00:13:30.81 And Loma Linda, California has a high population 00:13:30.84\00:13:33.68 of Seventh-day Adventist Christians 00:13:33.71\00:13:35.54 or Bible Christians 00:13:35.58\00:13:37.05 that also follow healthy lifestyle habits. 00:13:37.08\00:13:40.55 They're free of some of the confounding factors, 00:13:40.58\00:13:43.22 you know, Adventist is now a medical term 00:13:43.25\00:13:46.05 because they have studied 00:13:46.09\00:13:47.42 the Seventh-day Adventist in their longevity 00:13:47.46\00:13:48.99 and what they call the Adventist Health Study. 00:13:49.02\00:13:51.63 And Seventh-day Adventists 00:13:51.66\00:13:52.99 are nearly smoke free population, 00:13:53.03\00:13:54.76 nearly alcohol free population, 00:13:54.80\00:13:56.80 and many of them follow a vegetarian diet. 00:13:56.83\00:14:00.14 So they're eating a lot of plant foods. 00:14:00.17\00:14:01.74 Yes. 00:14:01.77\00:14:03.10 Now these Seventh-day Adventist people, 00:14:03.14\00:14:07.04 I was told that they are... 00:14:07.08\00:14:08.98 Now this may be wrong but I was told that 00:14:09.01\00:14:11.38 there were a couple of doctors over there at the hospital. 00:14:11.41\00:14:15.12 They're not living now. 00:14:15.15\00:14:16.48 I don't think they are but 00:14:16.52\00:14:17.85 they were still doing heart surgery 00:14:17.89\00:14:19.72 into their 90s. 00:14:19.75\00:14:21.09 Yes, in fact there's one there on the right there. 00:14:21.12\00:14:22.92 That's Dr. Ellsworth Wareham, who lived to be 104. 00:14:22.96\00:14:25.53 Oh, you're with him there. 00:14:25.56\00:14:26.90 Yeah, I'm with him there. 00:14:26.93\00:14:28.26 And he was a good friend. 00:14:28.30\00:14:29.63 I've had him on my radio show before 00:14:29.66\00:14:31.53 and he was doing heart surgery up till 95 years of age 00:14:31.57\00:14:35.80 and then he thought the younger guy should take, 00:14:35.84\00:14:37.67 you know, he wanted to give them some time. 00:14:37.71\00:14:39.04 And he was scaring the patient 00:14:39.07\00:14:40.41 and they asked him how old he was. 00:14:40.44\00:14:41.78 And then Hulda Crooks, 00:14:41.81\00:14:43.14 who is a nutrition researcher lived to be 103. 00:14:43.18\00:14:44.95 I used to sit next to her 00:14:44.98\00:14:46.31 while she's doing nutrition research 00:14:46.35\00:14:47.78 when I was at the School of Public Health at Loma Linda. 00:14:47.82\00:14:49.82 You know, the Seventh-day Adventist population 00:14:49.85\00:14:51.65 that follow this healthy vegetarian lifestyle 00:14:51.69\00:14:55.09 live to be about 10 years longer than 00:14:55.12\00:14:57.69 the average American 00:14:57.73\00:14:59.16 which out does what the Japanese do 00:14:59.19\00:15:01.16 in their longevity. 00:15:01.20\00:15:02.53 So this is amazing. 00:15:02.56\00:15:03.90 Now, Doctor, there's something else 00:15:03.93\00:15:05.27 we should bear in mind I mentioned it before. 00:15:05.30\00:15:06.63 Loma Linda is a very smoggy area. 00:15:06.67\00:15:08.57 It is. 00:15:08.60\00:15:09.94 You know, so if this is true, which it is, it is true, 00:15:09.97\00:15:13.58 it's been there, these are the facts. 00:15:13.61\00:15:17.21 But it proves that you can even 00:15:17.25\00:15:19.25 live a healthy lifestyle in Los Angeles. 00:15:19.28\00:15:21.92 You can. 00:15:21.95\00:15:23.28 You don't have to be in some paradise 00:15:23.32\00:15:24.75 like some of the other ones we'll show up here. 00:15:24.79\00:15:26.25 Yeah, you don't have to go to Hunza Valley. 00:15:26.29\00:15:27.79 That's right. 00:15:27.82\00:15:29.16 But it would be nice to go there. 00:15:29.19\00:15:30.53 And here it is. And look at some of it. 00:18:18.16\00:18:19.49 When it comes to animal products, 00:18:19.53\00:18:20.86 it's only 1% of their total calories. 00:18:20.90\00:18:23.87 In fact, they eat meat only 13 times a year. 00:18:23.90\00:18:26.60 They primarily live on a vegetarian diet, 00:18:26.63\00:18:28.90 a little bit of milk and butter from goats and sheeps, 00:18:28.94\00:18:31.77 but that's consumed sparingly. 00:18:31.81\00:18:33.48 So it's mostly a vegetarian diet, 00:18:33.51\00:18:35.08 averaging about three ounces of meat a month. 00:18:35.11\00:18:38.25 We really ought to get smart and not be brainwashed 00:18:38.28\00:18:41.62 by the television 00:18:41.65\00:18:42.98 and all the rest of the stuff that is, 00:18:43.02\00:18:45.25 this stuff that comes on television 00:18:45.29\00:18:46.96 where they promote these bad foods. 00:18:46.99\00:18:49.22 They're not doing it because they like us. 00:18:49.26\00:18:51.39 They're doing it to make money. Oh, they are. 00:18:51.43\00:18:53.66 But we've got a diet here that comes from the Bible. 00:18:53.70\00:18:57.57 And the people who follow that diet 00:18:57.60\00:19:00.20 live up to 130 years of age. 00:19:00.24\00:19:02.37 That's right. It's astounding. 00:19:02.40\00:19:03.81 And this is where you're pointing out, 00:19:03.84\00:19:05.37 this is the uniqueness here with the Loma Linda Blue Zone, 00:19:05.41\00:19:09.04 as you can see on the screen. 00:19:09.08\00:19:10.41 Yes. 00:19:10.45\00:19:11.78 'Cause here you have a metropolitan city. 00:19:11.81\00:19:13.35 Now you can still live a long, 00:19:13.38\00:19:15.05 healthy life even in a modern city 00:19:15.08\00:19:17.49 and not to be up in Hunza. 00:19:17.52\00:19:19.19 No. 00:19:19.22\00:19:20.56 But they, it shows that we can live a healthy long life 00:19:20.59\00:19:24.86 even in modern times. 00:19:24.89\00:19:26.43 And even in a modern city, there's a freeway next to you. 00:19:26.46\00:19:29.13 And that's smoggy because we've been told, 00:19:29.16\00:19:31.50 you know, the smog is bad for you. 00:19:31.53\00:19:33.37 We know that. That is. 00:19:33.40\00:19:34.74 But apparently the good lifestyle 00:19:34.77\00:19:37.91 has the capacity to overcome the smog of Los Angeles. 00:19:37.94\00:19:42.08 And I think a lot of those antioxidants 00:19:42.11\00:19:43.88 and phytochemicals you find in those 00:19:43.91\00:19:46.48 healthy fruits and vegetables help you to overcome 00:19:46.51\00:19:49.48 some of the damage of the smog. 00:19:49.52\00:19:51.05 Let me ask you this. Okay. 00:19:51.09\00:19:53.22 Just as a little revision because that's what we need. 00:19:53.25\00:19:56.52 What are the key healthy lifestyle habits 00:19:56.56\00:19:58.59 we need to follow to live like the healthy centenarians? 00:19:58.63\00:20:01.76 Well, here they are. 00:20:01.80\00:20:03.13 First of all, eat a healthy plant-based diet 00:20:03.16\00:20:05.90 more like the Genesis 1:29 diet. 00:20:05.93\00:20:08.90 The more we get that way, the healthier we are. 00:20:08.94\00:20:11.21 And it's described in Genesis 1. 00:20:11.24\00:20:13.11 That's right. Yeah. 00:20:13.14\00:20:14.48 And then we need to get regular exercise. 00:20:14.51\00:20:16.61 We are too sedentary in our country. 00:20:16.64\00:20:19.08 But these cultures of longevity, 00:20:19.11\00:20:20.52 they get regular exercise. 00:20:20.55\00:20:21.88 Walking, walking using the elliptical. 00:20:21.92\00:20:24.62 Got to do it. That's right. 00:20:24.65\00:20:25.99 Yeah. 00:20:26.02\00:20:27.36 Abstain from harmful things, alcohol, tobacco, 00:20:27.39\00:20:29.96 all those injurious things are 00:20:29.99\00:20:31.46 and including all that junk food that you put. 00:20:31.49\00:20:33.09 I read it only recently that alcohol 00:20:33.13\00:20:35.16 is one of the causes of cancer. 00:20:35.20\00:20:36.77 It is. Yeah. 00:20:36.80\00:20:38.13 And women need to be very concerned about that. 00:20:38.17\00:20:40.74 And then have control stress and spirituality comes in that 00:20:40.77\00:20:44.71 and not taking things too serious. 00:20:44.74\00:20:46.27 Yeah. 00:20:46.31\00:20:47.64 And if you have faith in God, you know, 00:20:47.68\00:20:49.18 everything's gonna work out okay. 00:20:49.21\00:20:51.35 God is in charge. 00:20:51.38\00:20:52.88 Now, as Christians and followers of Christ 00:20:52.91\00:20:55.92 because we're both Christians, 00:20:55.95\00:20:58.02 we're called to take good care of our body temples. 00:20:58.05\00:21:01.02 The Bible uses this expression. 00:21:01.06\00:21:03.46 The body is the temple of God. 00:21:03.49\00:21:05.39 We're told to glorify God with these bodies 00:21:05.43\00:21:07.36 He has given us. 00:21:07.40\00:21:08.73 So we can live healthy and long lives to be a service 00:21:08.76\00:21:11.93 and blessing to mankind during our lifetimes. 00:21:11.97\00:21:14.60 That's right.
