Or from the fast food industry. 00:03:44.92\00:03:48.06 That's right. 00:03:48.09\00:03:49.42 And it seems to this person, 00:03:49.46\00:03:51.43 that they tell you how to get sick, 00:03:51.46\00:03:53.43 and then they try to tell you how they're gonna fix you. 00:03:53.46\00:03:56.06 Well, that's a good observation and you know, 00:03:56.10\00:03:58.63 the way we're eating is killing us. 00:03:58.67\00:04:00.40 We're killing ourselves with our knives, 00:04:00.44\00:04:02.10 spoons and forks. 00:04:02.14\00:04:03.47 In fact, here's the statistics here as you see. 00:04:03.51\00:04:05.47 Heart disease is our number one killer. 00:04:05.51\00:04:07.34 Cancer is our number one, second leading cause of death, 00:04:07.38\00:04:11.08 and then the chronic 00:04:11.11\00:04:12.45 respiratory diseases and so forth. 00:04:12.48\00:04:13.82 But you look at these three main ones, 00:04:13.85\00:04:15.22 they're related to the way we live, 00:04:15.25\00:04:18.25 and what are the causes of these deaths in America? 00:04:18.29\00:04:21.59 Well, number one is poor diet and physical inactivity. 00:04:21.62\00:04:25.79 We're eating the wrong types of foods. 00:04:25.83\00:04:27.60 We're not active enough. 00:04:27.63\00:04:29.70 We're believing the television ads. 00:04:29.73\00:04:31.80 That's right. That's exactly right. 00:04:31.83\00:04:33.70 The bad foods. 00:04:33.74\00:04:35.10 We're addicted to those. Yeah. Yeah, we are. 00:04:35.14\00:04:36.81 And then tobacco is number two, 00:04:36.84\00:04:38.57 and then you see that these are things 00:04:38.61\00:04:41.58 that we are killing ourselves through our lifestyle. 00:04:41.61\00:04:44.21 You know, 100 million Americans 00:04:44.25\00:04:46.51 have diabetes or pre-diabetes. 00:04:46.55\00:04:48.65 That's one in three. 00:04:48.68\00:04:50.02 That right. 00:04:50.05\00:04:51.39 And so that's astounding, isn't it? 00:04:51.42\00:04:52.75 Seventy percent of Americans are overweight 00:04:52.79\00:04:55.19 or obese and it's increasing. 00:04:55.22\00:04:56.93 Oops. 00:04:56.96\00:04:58.29 It's going up. 00:04:58.33\00:04:59.66 It's getting larger. Yeah. 00:04:59.69\00:05:01.03 And this is a sad picture. 00:05:01.06\00:05:02.40 It's a growing problem. 00:05:02.43\00:05:03.77 Yes, it's a growing problem. 00:05:03.80\00:05:05.13 So this is a sad picture is that one out of three 00:05:05.17\00:05:06.90 American children are overweight. 00:05:06.94\00:05:09.67 I hate to say this, but it's child abuse 00:05:09.70\00:05:12.21 the way that many parents are feeding their kids. 00:05:12.24\00:05:15.28 In fact, there's so many problems going on 00:05:15.31\00:05:18.65 with our children's health. 00:05:18.68\00:05:20.02 Now, 70 million Americans have hypertension, 00:05:20.05\00:05:21.92 which is high blood pressure. 00:05:21.95\00:05:23.28 That's about one in four. Yes, exactly. 00:05:23.32\00:05:26.52 At least. Exactly. 00:05:26.55\00:05:27.89 Yeah. Right. 00:05:27.92\00:05:29.32 And some other statistics here and some other information too, 00:05:29.36\00:05:32.53 is that the US spends more than $3 trillion a year 00:05:32.56\00:05:36.30 in healthcare costs. 00:05:36.33\00:05:37.67 We could prevent and reduce this 00:05:37.70\00:05:39.60 if people would live a healthier lifestyle. 00:05:39.63\00:05:41.97 Is it true? 00:05:42.00\00:05:43.34 Now, stomp me if I'm wrong. 00:05:43.37\00:05:45.67 Is it true that we spend more money 00:05:45.71\00:05:48.88 on healthcare 00:05:48.91\00:05:50.28 than the rest of the countries put together? 00:05:50.31\00:05:51.85 That's true. 00:05:51.88\00:05:53.21 And we're the worst off. And we're the worst off. 00:05:53.25\00:05:54.95 In fact, you know what's really sad is this is, 00:05:54.98\00:05:57.79 this year US is ranked 35th healthiest nation in the world. 00:05:57.82\00:06:02.72 We are way down the list in health. 00:06:02.76\00:06:05.09 Yet we have the most 00:06:05.13\00:06:06.46 modern healthcare system in the world. 00:06:06.49\00:06:07.83 Yeah. 00:06:07.86\00:06:09.20 But we, and we have all these technologies... 00:06:09.23\00:06:10.57 Great technology. 00:06:10.60\00:06:11.93 Great technology, but we're unhealthy. 00:06:11.97\00:06:15.04 Number 35. 00:06:15.07\00:06:16.74 That means there's another 34 countries 00:06:16.77\00:06:19.87 far better than the United States. 00:06:19.91\00:06:21.81 Since places like Italy and Asia countries... 00:06:21.84\00:06:24.95 And Singapore. Singapore is healthier so far. 00:06:24.98\00:06:27.42 And Japan? 00:06:27.45\00:06:28.78 Exactly. 00:06:28.82\00:06:30.15 Japan is very healthy. 00:06:30.19\00:06:31.52 And they don't spend the money like we spend it. 00:06:31.55\00:06:32.95 They don't. 00:06:32.99\00:06:34.32 And in our hospitals today, 70% of the hospital admissions 00:06:34.36\00:06:38.49 are diet and lifestyle related 00:06:38.53\00:06:41.00 and think about that 70% of people 00:06:41.03\00:06:42.90 in those hospitals are there 00:06:42.93\00:06:44.40 because of their diet and their lifestyle. 00:06:44.43\00:06:47.20 So people are going into the hospitals 00:06:47.24\00:06:49.60 which are going broke because of what they're eating 00:06:49.64\00:06:54.48 and what they're not eating 00:06:54.51\00:06:56.41 and because of their lack of exercise. 00:06:56.44\00:06:58.68 Is that a valid observation? 00:06:58.71\00:07:00.05 That's right, it's going to get worse 00:07:00.08\00:07:02.45 with the coming generations. 00:07:02.48\00:07:03.82 This is terrible. 00:07:03.85\00:07:05.19 In fact, our former Surgeon General points out 00:07:05.22\00:07:07.56 that because of the increasing obesity 00:07:07.59\00:07:10.06 that's going on in our country today, 00:07:10.09\00:07:12.09 it is in this generation, 00:07:12.13\00:07:14.16 many parents will outlive their own children. 00:07:14.20\00:07:19.27 In fact, we have seven year old children 00:07:19.30\00:07:22.87 with adult onset diabetes. 00:07:22.90\00:07:25.11 I was talking to a nurse the other day, 00:07:25.14\00:07:27.48 her son's 13 years old. 00:07:27.51\00:07:28.84 Now he eats 00:07:28.88\00:07:30.21 at all those fast food restaurants. 00:07:30.25\00:07:31.58 The doctor said... 00:07:31.61\00:07:32.95 He's addicted, isn't he? He's addicted. 00:07:32.98\00:07:34.32 But the doctor says 00:07:34.35\00:07:35.68 his arteries are being clogged greatly. 00:07:35.72\00:07:37.05 How old is he? Thirteen. 00:07:37.09\00:07:38.55 So these young kids are getting adult diseases today. 00:07:38.59\00:07:41.96 And it's a real tragedy. 00:07:41.99\00:07:43.32 And I have to say, 00:07:43.36\00:07:44.69 parents need to take the responsibility 00:07:44.73\00:07:46.53 because they're killing their own children by the way 00:07:46.56\00:07:49.53 they're feeding them. 00:07:49.56\00:07:51.17 And let me say just a word to the... 00:07:51.20\00:07:53.84 our great watching audience today, 00:07:53.87\00:07:55.77 a great viewing audience. 00:07:55.80\00:07:58.07 This is tremendously important. 00:07:58.11\00:08:00.01 Because this is about your kids 00:08:00.04\00:08:01.98 and my kids and my grandkids, isn't this true? 00:08:02.01\00:08:04.28 That's right, future generations. 00:08:04.31\00:08:05.78 I'm really... That's right. 00:10:44.74\00:10:46.57 So this book, which we call the Bible, 00:10:46.61\00:10:49.51 is written for every person. 00:10:49.54\00:10:51.78 It is, it talks about nutrition, 00:10:51.81\00:10:53.48 it talks about health, 00:10:53.52\00:10:54.85 it talks about stress management, 00:10:54.88\00:10:56.42 there's dietary principles in there 00:10:56.45\00:10:58.25 that can save our lives. 00:10:58.29\00:10:59.62 But, you know, I believe you 00:10:59.65\00:11:00.99 but a lot of people are going to say that's a... 00:11:01.02\00:11:03.09 that's a long stretch you pushing it, 00:11:03.12\00:11:05.03 you know to say that this book, 00:11:05.06\00:11:06.63 written thousands of years ago, 00:11:06.66\00:11:08.93 can help us here in America today. 00:11:08.96\00:11:12.00 Well, what did Jesus say right up there? 00:11:12.03\00:11:14.34 Well, he said, 00:11:14.37\00:11:15.70 "I have come that they might have life, 00:11:15.74\00:11:18.67 and that they might have it 00:11:18.71\00:11:20.04 more abundantly or to the full." 00:11:20.08\00:11:22.41 That's in John 10:10. That's right. 00:11:22.44\00:11:25.35 And that's what, that's why He came. 00:11:25.38\00:11:27.58 And Jesus was the first person of all religion, traditions. 00:11:27.62\00:11:32.85 Jesus was the first person that referred, 00:11:32.89\00:11:35.46 "He spake of the temple of his body." 00:11:35.49\00:11:38.46 He's the first person to have that 00:11:38.49\00:11:39.93 body temple philosophy. 00:11:39.96\00:11:41.70 Now, this is an amazing concept, isn't it? 00:11:41.73\00:11:43.50 It is. 00:11:43.53\00:11:45.13 I mean, this is a concept for every person, 00:11:45.17\00:11:47.64 atheists and callithumpians and everybody that 00:11:47.67\00:11:51.74 the body is something sacred. 00:11:51.77\00:11:54.68 It is the place 00:11:54.71\00:11:56.04 for the indwelling of the Spirit 00:11:56.08\00:11:57.98 of the Almighty God. 00:11:58.01\00:11:59.35 And the Apostle Paul elaborated on what Jesus said. 00:11:59.38\00:12:01.62 What did he say there? 00:12:01.65\00:12:02.98 He says, he says, "The temple of, this human, 00:12:03.02\00:12:08.19 This temple is holy, which temple you are." 00:12:08.22\00:12:10.89 Right. 00:12:10.93\00:12:12.26 And 1 Corinthians says, "You are bought with a price 00:12:12.29\00:12:14.43 therefore glorify God in your body, 00:12:14.46\00:12:17.30 and in your spirit, which are God's." 00:12:17.33\00:12:19.77 Now, as you know, Doctor, 00:12:19.80\00:12:22.94 some of the Greek philosophers thousands of years ago 00:12:22.97\00:12:26.11 spoke about the body in a rather disparaging way. 00:12:26.14\00:12:29.11 They said, the body was a shell. 00:12:29.14\00:12:31.45 And inside there was something which was good, 00:12:31.48\00:12:33.38 which was the immortal soul. 00:12:33.42\00:12:35.58 But the shell itself was released 00:12:35.62\00:12:37.45 just a disgusting thing. 00:12:37.49\00:12:39.05 And the sooner you got rid of it, the better. 00:12:39.09\00:12:41.52 But you know, and I know 00:12:41.56\00:12:42.92 that the Bible teaches and Jesus Christ taught 00:12:42.96\00:12:45.39 that the body was the temple of God, 00:12:45.43\00:12:47.73 therefore the body is a sanctuary. 00:12:47.76\00:12:50.00 That's right. 00:12:50.03\00:12:51.37 And it's interesting, the Apostle Paul 00:12:51.40\00:12:52.73 went on to say that even what we eat or drink 00:12:52.77\00:12:56.24 is a major factor. 00:12:56.27\00:12:57.61 He said, whether therefore you eat or drink 00:12:57.64\00:13:00.08 or whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of God. 00:13:00.11\00:13:03.88 And I think that if a lot of Christians 00:13:03.91\00:13:05.25 thought about that 00:13:05.28\00:13:06.61 as they sat down with their meal 00:13:06.65\00:13:07.98 and ask that question, 00:13:08.02\00:13:09.35 "Is this food for my temple, 00:13:09.38\00:13:11.89 is this to the glory of God eating this, 00:13:11.92\00:13:13.49 or is this for my own satisfaction?" 00:13:13.52\00:13:15.62 Or is it because of my addiction? 00:13:15.66\00:13:17.26 And my addiction to certain foods. 00:13:17.29\00:13:19.03 Because I can't do anything else. 00:13:19.06\00:13:20.73 That's right. Leviticus 3:17. 00:19:49.12\00:19:50.45 Let me get at it, so I know that 00:19:50.49\00:19:51.85 I'm getting the right text and you're not just 00:19:51.89\00:19:53.99 putting that up on the screen, 00:19:54.02\00:19:55.36 pardon me. 00:19:55.39\00:19:57.56 "This shall be a perpetual statute 00:19:57.59\00:20:00.53 throughout your generations in all your dwellings, 00:20:00.56\00:20:03.90 you shall eat neither fat `nor blood." 00:20:03.93\00:20:07.17 That's right. 00:20:07.20\00:20:08.54 God says, "Don't eat fat, don't eat blood." 00:20:08.57\00:20:10.04 What does that mean? 00:20:10.07\00:20:11.41 And you know what's very interesting about that, 00:20:11.44\00:20:12.84 is when you eat meat, 00:20:12.87\00:20:14.21 you're eating saturated animal fat 00:20:14.24\00:20:16.04 and you're eating the blood. 00:20:16.08\00:20:17.41 Those are the two disease components... 00:20:17.45\00:20:19.58 Isn't that good for you? Yeah. 00:20:57.55\00:20:59.25 He's considered the father of modern cardiology, 00:20:59.29\00:21:02.82 preventive cardiology, very smart. 00:21:02.86\00:21:05.16 But back, way back in 1955, 00:21:05.19\00:21:08.20 when doctors didn't agree without, 00:21:08.23\00:21:09.76 you know, all this stuff, he made this statement 00:21:09.80\00:21:12.53 which is very profound. 00:21:12.57\00:21:13.90 He spoke before the American Medical Association Conference. 00:21:13.94\00:21:16.87 And he said, "It is conceivable that a few years from now, 00:21:16.91\00:21:19.77 we medical men may repeat to the citizens 00:21:19.81\00:21:21.88 of the United States of America, 00:21:21.91\00:21:23.58 the advice that Moses was asked by God, 00:21:23.61\00:21:26.61 to present to the children of Israel 3,000 years ago, 00:21:26.65\00:21:30.99 namely, that you must eat no fat of the ox, 00:21:31.02\00:21:34.39 or the sheep or the goat, 00:21:34.42\00:21:35.89 you may use it in any other way, 00:21:35.92\00:21:38.03 but by no means eat it." 00:21:38.06\00:21:40.00 Now, Dr. Paul Dudley White believed if Americans 00:21:40.03\00:21:43.60 followed these dietary health laws 00:21:43.63\00:21:46.13 given by Moses about not eating blood and fat 00:21:46.17\00:21:49.04 that we could virtually wipe out 00:21:49.07\00:21:50.91 heart disease in the United States. 00:21:50.94\00:21:52.27 Amazing.
