It has been called the greatest document 00:00:03.10\00:00:05.13 in the history of humanity. 00:00:05.17\00:00:06.90 Whenever and wherever people have studied 00:00:06.94\00:00:09.14 and accepted its teachings, 00:00:09.17\00:00:10.91 they have discovered hope, 00:00:10.94\00:00:13.51 life, peace, 00:00:13.54\00:00:19.35 prosperity, and deliverance from tyranny. 00:00:19.38\00:00:25.29 Welcome to Romans. 00:00:25.32\00:00:27.82 We give you a great welcome today. 00:00:31.49\00:00:34.16 We welcome you here in our studio 00:00:34.20\00:00:36.03 in Southern California. 00:00:36.06\00:00:37.80 And also our terrific audience 00:00:37.83\00:00:40.64 across the United States of America, 00:00:40.67\00:00:42.77 across North America, Canada, 00:00:42.80\00:00:46.04 down into the Caribbean, in Australia, 00:00:46.07\00:00:49.18 and right around the world. 00:00:49.21\00:00:51.01 Now, we have been studying the Book of Romans. 00:00:51.05\00:00:57.82 And Romans has been called the greatest masterpiece 00:00:57.85\00:01:03.43 that the human mind has ever conceived or realized. 00:01:03.46\00:01:08.30 The greatest book ever written in the history of the world. 00:01:08.33\00:01:12.80 Today, this is Romans, part 2. 00:01:12.83\00:01:15.70 Now, I want you to put yourself in my shoes. 00:01:15.74\00:01:19.54 Number of years ago, quite a few years ago... 00:01:19.57\00:01:21.31 A young man in the great city of Melbourne, 00:01:24.61\00:01:30.05 earnest young man, 00:01:30.09\00:01:33.69 came under the influence of some religious teachers. 00:01:33.72\00:01:38.89 This is young man in the prime of his life in university, 00:01:38.93\00:01:45.40 a very sensitive young man and he's told, 00:01:45.43\00:01:49.04 unless you become totally and absolutely sinless, 00:01:49.07\00:01:54.81 you can't be saved. 00:01:54.84\00:01:58.28 And this is drummed into him. 00:01:58.31\00:02:00.38 You've got to be perfect and you've got to be saved 00:02:00.42\00:02:04.09 through coming to God and becoming so surrendered 00:02:04.12\00:02:09.22 that you are absolutely sinless 00:02:09.26\00:02:12.03 as Christ was sinless. 00:02:12.06\00:02:16.30 And this young man went into his garage, 00:02:16.33\00:02:21.50 in the family house, and got in the family car, 00:02:21.54\00:02:25.67 and turned on the car, 00:02:25.71\00:02:29.34 closed up the garage and killed himself. 00:02:29.38\00:02:35.68 Now I was the pastor of a great church in Sydney. 00:02:35.72\00:02:40.26 It was called the Wahroonga Church. 00:02:40.29\00:02:43.09 Wahroonga is northern suburbs, Sydney. 00:02:43.12\00:02:46.70 Beautiful place. Just gorgeous place. 00:02:46.73\00:02:50.43 And I had hundreds, and hundreds, 00:02:50.47\00:02:52.63 and hundreds of young people in that church, 00:02:52.67\00:02:55.14 most of them from the Sydney Adventist Hospital, 00:02:55.17\00:02:58.07 a great institution. 00:02:58.11\00:03:00.88 And they had come 00:03:00.91\00:03:02.24 under the influence of strong religious teachers 00:03:02.28\00:03:06.72 who were telling them, 00:03:06.75\00:03:08.08 they had to be sinless before they could be saved. 00:03:08.12\00:03:14.22 Now I put it to you, what would you do? 00:03:14.26\00:03:20.40 What on earth would you do? 00:03:20.43\00:03:22.53 Would you give in to pressure and go with the crowd? 00:03:22.56\00:03:27.50 What would you do? 00:03:27.54\00:03:29.74 I will tell you, my friends, what I did. 00:03:29.77\00:03:32.61 I preached the Gospel of Christ, 00:03:32.64\00:03:36.95 because the Gospel of Christ 00:03:36.98\00:03:41.12 is good news. 00:03:41.15\00:03:44.05 I want you to know this 00:03:44.09\00:03:45.42 because most folks don't get it. 00:03:45.45\00:03:47.79 But you're going to get it. 00:03:47.82\00:03:51.29 The gospel is good news and it's not good advice. 00:03:51.33\00:03:57.37 Advice is what you ought to do. 00:03:57.40\00:04:00.57 Advice is doo, doo, doo, cock a doodle doo. 00:04:00.60\00:04:05.94 And there's a million preachers who are preaching good advice. 00:04:05.97\00:04:09.38 The gospel is not good advice, it is good news. 00:04:09.41\00:04:13.92 Now news is about something that someone has done. 00:04:13.95\00:04:20.46 And the gospel is the good news 00:04:20.49\00:04:23.46 about what God in Christ has done for us. 00:04:23.49\00:04:28.70 Now this is the great difference. 00:04:28.73\00:04:32.33 It's not about me. 00:04:32.37\00:04:34.10 Look at Romans 1:1 and 3. 00:04:34.14\00:04:38.81 And if you and I can get this today, 00:04:38.84\00:04:40.58 it's going to be a great relief. 00:04:40.61\00:04:43.14 And some are you sitting here today, 00:04:43.18\00:04:45.15 all of a sudden you're going to get a revelation, 00:04:45.18\00:04:47.98 and you're going to say, I've never seen that before, 00:04:48.02\00:04:50.99 I've been terribly burdened, I've been terribly worried. 00:04:51.02\00:04:54.46 Romans 1:1 and 3, 00:04:54.49\00:04:56.93 "Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, 00:04:56.96\00:04:59.49 called to be an apostle, 00:04:59.53\00:05:01.43 separated to the gospel of God." 00:05:01.46\00:05:03.00 The good news of God. 00:05:03.03\00:05:04.83 And verse 3 says, 00:05:04.87\00:05:06.37 "Concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, 00:05:06.40\00:05:10.61 who was born of the seed of David 00:05:10.64\00:05:13.07 according to the flesh." 00:05:13.11\00:05:16.54 Therefore, let this get down into our minds that gospel 00:05:16.58\00:05:22.78 is not about me, it is not about my performance. 00:05:22.82\00:05:28.32 Now people go, "That's what I heard." 00:05:28.36\00:05:29.79 No, the gospel is not about me, 00:05:29.82\00:05:32.79 the gospel is about God. 00:05:32.83\00:05:37.47 And it's good news. 00:05:37.50\00:05:40.27 Now last time I spoke, 00:05:40.30\00:05:41.94 I dealt with Romans chapter 1, 2 and 3. 00:05:41.97\00:05:46.04 If you missed that, 00:05:46.07\00:05:47.41 you can see it on Roku, go to our website, 00:05:47.44\00:05:52.08 watch it on Apple TV, see it on YouTube, 00:05:52.11\00:05:55.42 or Amazon Fire, and we have other stations too. 00:05:55.45\00:05:59.12 Today, Romans, this is going to be hard. 00:05:59.15\00:06:03.12 Romans 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 so help me. 00:06:03.16\00:06:09.33 Romans chapter 3 says 00:06:09.36\00:06:11.53 that we are justified by the grace of God. 00:06:11.57\00:06:15.57 Look at Romans 3:23, 00:06:15.60\00:06:20.14 dear hearts and gentle people. 00:06:20.18\00:06:23.04 The Bible says, 00:06:23.08\00:06:24.41 "For all have sinned and fall short 00:06:24.45\00:06:26.98 of the glory of God." 00:06:27.02\00:06:28.82 This is a text most people don't understand. 00:06:28.85\00:06:31.62 It says all have sinned. 00:06:31.65\00:06:33.32 The Greek say and the English says. 00:06:33.36\00:06:35.56 This is continuous. 00:06:35.59\00:06:37.79 This is perfect continuous, not past tense, all have sin, 00:06:37.83\00:06:41.90 that's past. 00:06:41.93\00:06:43.26 But this fall short is what is happening now. 00:06:43.30\00:06:47.27 The Bible teaches 00:06:47.30\00:06:48.64 that every person except Christ, 00:06:48.67\00:06:50.57 every person is falling short of the glory of God. 00:06:50.61\00:06:55.68 Now you said, no, no, that's, 00:06:55.71\00:06:57.08 not if I've been a Christian for 50 years, 00:06:57.11\00:07:00.92 I've finally attained... 00:07:00.95\00:07:03.35 No, that's not true. 00:07:03.39\00:07:07.42 You can argue with me, 00:07:07.46\00:07:08.79 but don't argue with the scriptures. 00:07:08.82\00:07:10.73 The Bible says, 00:07:10.76\00:07:12.16 we continue to fall short of the glory of God. 00:07:12.19\00:07:17.20 Now the Bible tells us this, 00:07:17.23\00:07:18.93 that in Adam we have all fallen. 00:07:18.97\00:07:24.94 This goes against the pride of the human heart, 00:07:24.97\00:07:29.24 especially the people who are super religious, 00:07:29.28\00:07:32.65 some of the most dangerous people 00:07:32.68\00:07:34.02 on the face of the earth, 00:07:34.05\00:07:35.42 the super religious, the Pharisees. 00:07:35.45\00:07:37.92 The Bible says, 00:07:37.95\00:07:39.45 "We are falling short of the glory of God." 00:07:39.49\00:07:42.09 This graph tells you, 00:07:42.12\00:07:45.09 here we are humanity is falling into the flames of hell. 00:07:45.13\00:07:51.77 And there is only one person 00:07:51.80\00:07:54.24 who's gone across this great chasm 00:07:54.27\00:07:57.17 and that is Jesus Christ. 00:07:57.21\00:08:00.71 And so the first truth is this, 00:08:00.74\00:08:03.28 there are no people in the world 00:08:03.31\00:08:06.58 who are good enough. 00:08:06.61\00:08:08.38 Look at verse 24. 00:08:08.42\00:08:10.45 And if I can get no other truth preach today, 00:08:10.49\00:08:13.59 I'll be glad. 00:08:13.62\00:08:14.96 Verse 24, "Being justified freely 00:08:14.99\00:08:18.63 by His grace through the redemption 00:08:18.66\00:08:22.16 that is in Christ Jesus." 00:08:22.20\00:08:23.83 Now you got to see this. 00:08:23.87\00:08:27.04 The word justify here 00:08:27.07\00:08:28.67 is very much akin to the word righteousness 00:08:28.70\00:08:32.37 in the Hebrew and in the Greek. 00:08:32.41\00:08:36.24 But when the Bible says, justify, 00:08:36.28\00:08:38.75 it means not to make righteous, but to declare righteous. 00:08:38.78\00:08:44.25 People say, "Oh, there's no difference." 00:08:44.29\00:08:45.85 There's difference between heaven and hell. 00:08:45.89\00:08:51.23 I want you to see this. 00:08:51.26\00:08:52.96 The word justify does not mean in spite 00:08:52.99\00:08:56.26 of a thousand sermons to the country. 00:08:56.30\00:08:59.57 It doesn't mean to make me righteous. 00:08:59.60\00:09:04.41 It means that God declares 00:09:04.44\00:09:07.81 that John Carter a penitent sinner 00:09:07.84\00:09:10.48 because of Christ is righteous. 00:09:10.51\00:09:16.12 Now you've all heard 00:09:16.15\00:09:17.49 of Mother Teresa whom we all love. 00:09:17.52\00:09:21.72 This great Roman Catholic nun 00:09:21.76\00:09:27.40 loved around the world. 00:09:27.43\00:09:28.76 After she died, they discovered her letters. 00:09:28.80\00:09:32.80 Mother Teresa was taught by the Jesuits. 00:09:32.83\00:09:38.57 You say, "So what? They're great people." 00:09:38.61\00:09:43.68 Mother Teresa was taught 00:09:43.71\00:09:45.18 that justification means to make righteous. 00:09:45.21\00:09:50.15 And Mother Teresa was continually depressed, 00:09:50.19\00:09:53.69 and in despair, and suicidal. 00:09:53.72\00:09:56.86 And she said, "She never saw once in her life 00:09:56.89\00:09:59.16 the loving face of God." 00:09:59.19\00:10:01.96 Have you heard of the Council of Trent? 00:10:02.00\00:10:06.47 After the Reformation, 00:10:06.50\00:10:08.47 the Jesuits were in charge of the Council of Trent 00:10:08.50\00:10:12.34 and they taught 00:10:12.37\00:10:13.71 that justification, listen carefully, 00:10:13.74\00:10:15.61 because maybe you believe this. 00:10:15.64\00:10:19.15 I've met many, many so called Protestants 00:10:19.18\00:10:23.79 who believe Jesuit theology. 00:10:23.82\00:10:27.12 The Jesuits taught that justification 00:10:27.16\00:10:30.33 was the work of the Holy Spirit in the soul 00:10:30.36\00:10:35.66 to make me sinless, so I could see the face of God. 00:10:35.70\00:10:41.60 But the awful thing is this. 00:10:41.64\00:10:43.84 When does a person in this lifetime 00:10:43.87\00:10:45.81 ever come to the state of sinless perfection? 00:10:45.84\00:10:50.75 Because you never know when you're good enough. 00:10:50.78\00:10:54.18 That's why so many people 00:10:54.22\00:10:55.78 I've met are depressed and unhappy 00:10:55.82\00:10:59.15 because they never know 00:10:59.19\00:11:02.19 they've been fed a lot of bad theology. 00:11:02.22\00:11:05.86 Now people get mad at me when I preach this sermon. 00:11:05.89\00:11:08.46 I say, "Don't get mad at me, get mad with Paul, 00:11:08.50\00:11:10.97 get mad with Christ." 00:11:11.00\00:11:13.94 Romans 3:25. 00:11:13.97\00:11:15.90 If you want to get angry, 00:11:15.94\00:11:18.04 get angry with your own thinking. 00:11:18.07\00:11:20.71 "Whom God set forth as a propitiation 00:11:20.74\00:11:24.38 and atoning sacrifice by His blood through faith, 00:11:24.41\00:11:30.15 to demonstrate His righteousness, 00:11:30.19\00:11:33.32 because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins 00:11:33.36\00:11:36.46 that were previously committed." 00:11:36.49\00:11:38.93 Now I don't have time to go into this. 00:11:38.96\00:11:41.06 It says that, "God might be righteous." 00:11:41.10\00:11:43.57 This is not a shrewdy. This is not a con job. 00:11:43.60\00:11:48.60 God cannot just forgive sin. 00:11:48.64\00:11:50.51 God cannot say, 00:11:50.54\00:11:51.87 "Well, look, you've all sinned." 00:11:51.91\00:11:53.24 Hey, forget about it. God's got to be righteous. 00:11:53.27\00:11:57.45 You know how God is righteous? 00:11:57.48\00:11:59.01 On the cross 00:11:59.05\00:12:01.98 He tastes His own wrath 00:12:02.02\00:12:06.02 against sin. 00:12:06.05\00:12:09.52 He pays the price. 00:12:09.56\00:12:12.16 He's a propitiation. 00:12:12.19\00:12:13.96 This word should not be translated expiation 00:12:14.00\00:12:16.90 as it is in some translation. 00:12:16.93\00:12:18.43 Propitiation. 00:12:18.47\00:12:21.54 So that He can be righteous 00:12:21.57\00:12:25.31 and I can be declared righteous. 00:12:25.34\00:12:31.65 It's almost too hard to believe. 00:12:31.68\00:12:33.01 That's why many people won't believe it. 00:12:33.05\00:12:36.79 Romans 4 says, "This is true. But it is not new." 00:12:36.82\00:12:42.09 Back in his day the Jewish people said, 00:12:42.12\00:12:44.26 "This is a big heresy. 00:12:44.29\00:12:46.06 This is the new theology. This is a new idea." 00:12:46.09\00:12:50.23 Remember, if it's new, it's seldom true. 00:12:50.27\00:12:53.13 And if it's true, it's seldom new. 00:12:53.17\00:12:56.57 And so now Paul says, 00:12:56.60\00:12:57.94 "Okay, I'm going to prove it to you 00:12:57.97\00:12:59.31 from the Old Testament." 00:12:59.34\00:13:00.68 Romans 4:2 and 3. 00:13:00.71\00:13:03.95 The first example, Abraham. 00:13:03.98\00:13:07.02 "If Abraham was justified by works, 00:13:07.05\00:13:09.98 he has something to boast about, 00:13:10.02\00:13:11.95 but not before God. 00:13:11.99\00:13:13.32 For what does the scriptures say, 00:13:13.36\00:13:15.22 'Abraham believed God, 00:13:15.26\00:13:16.89 and it was accounted to him for righteousness.'" 00:13:16.93\00:13:23.50 So this is not a poor lame doctrine in itself. 00:13:23.53\00:13:28.47 This is the very basis of the Old Testament 00:13:28.50\00:13:31.81 that we cannot be saved by law. 00:13:31.84\00:13:35.74 Romans 4:5, 00:13:35.78\00:13:37.65 the most radical text in the Bible. 00:13:37.68\00:13:39.98 I've had people get almost filled with rage 00:13:40.02\00:13:43.28 when I've quoted this text. 00:13:43.32\00:13:44.82 "But to him who does not work," 00:13:44.85\00:13:47.02 as far as salvation is concerned, 00:13:47.06\00:13:48.79 "but believes on Him who justifies..." 00:13:48.82\00:13:51.46 What does it say? 00:13:51.49\00:13:52.83 Tell me what it says? 00:13:52.86\00:13:54.20 It says, "Justifies the ungodly." 00:13:54.23\00:13:56.90 People who said, 00:13:56.93\00:13:58.27 "God cannot justify the ungodly if He justifies you." 00:13:58.30\00:14:02.14 That's what He's doing, because we are ungodly. 00:14:02.17\00:14:07.08 Unlike God, He justifies the ungodly, 00:14:07.11\00:14:09.88 his faith is accounted, accounted, accounted. 00:14:09.91\00:14:14.72 It's like God puts it to your account. 00:14:14.75\00:14:18.49 You're a pauper, got no money, 00:14:18.52\00:14:20.62 and God puts a billion dollars in your account. 00:14:20.66\00:14:24.03 You don't deserve it. 00:14:24.06\00:14:27.00 Ellen White said this, 00:14:27.03\00:14:28.36 "The prayers of true believers ascend, 00:14:28.40\00:14:31.73 go off the heaven, but passing 00:14:31.77\00:14:34.70 through the corrupt channels of humanity, 00:14:34.74\00:14:38.21 they are so defiled." 00:14:38.24\00:14:42.64 The prayers of true believers so defiled. 00:14:42.68\00:14:45.88 Then unless covered by the blood of Christ, 00:14:45.91\00:14:48.62 they worth nothing. 00:14:48.65\00:14:52.85 So the first truth that ought to sink down into our minds 00:14:52.89\00:14:55.89 is that we are ungodly, needing the grace of God. 00:14:55.92\00:15:01.53 Unlike God, then it brings us to David. 00:15:01.56\00:15:05.03 It's another case. Romans 4:6, 7 and 8. 00:15:05.07\00:15:09.57 Romans, "For just as David also describes 00:15:09.60\00:15:14.04 the blessedness of the man 00:15:14.08\00:15:15.61 to whom God imputes righteousness 00:15:15.64\00:15:18.15 apart from works. 00:15:18.18\00:15:20.52 Blessed are those 00:15:20.55\00:15:21.88 whose lawless deeds are forgiven, 00:15:21.92\00:15:23.85 and whose sins are covered. 00:15:23.89\00:15:25.39 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord 00:15:25.42\00:15:27.56 shall not impute sin." 00:15:27.59\00:15:29.46 We're talking here about a murderer 00:15:29.49\00:15:33.19 and a adulterer. 00:15:33.23\00:15:37.10 You say it, "It's not right." 00:15:37.13\00:15:40.57 It is the righteousness of God 00:15:40.60\00:15:42.27 because God took upon Himself in Christ, 00:15:42.30\00:15:45.87 the adulteries and the murders of King David. 00:15:45.91\00:15:48.54 What is it called? Grace. 00:15:51.71\00:15:55.48 This tells me, there's hope for the sinner. 00:15:55.52\00:15:58.42 If you feel that you're a sinner, 00:15:58.45\00:16:00.36 there's hope for you. 00:16:00.39\00:16:01.89 If you feel that you're better 00:16:01.92\00:16:03.26 than other people at this time in your life, 00:16:03.29\00:16:05.56 there's no hope for you 00:16:05.59\00:16:08.23 unless you become enlightened. 00:16:08.26\00:16:11.33 Jesus is the friend of sinners. 00:16:11.37\00:16:15.87 Glory, glory. 00:16:15.90\00:16:18.17 That's why Tyndale called the Book of Romans good, 00:16:18.21\00:16:21.51 glad, and merry tidings 00:16:21.54\00:16:23.41 that makes a man's heart to sing for joy 00:16:23.45\00:16:26.18 and his feet to dance. 00:16:26.21\00:16:28.35 Let me tell you, 00:16:28.38\00:16:29.72 there are two great mountains in the Bible, Mount Sinai. 00:16:29.75\00:16:34.42 You'll never get to heaven climbing up 00:16:34.46\00:16:36.19 the quaking sides of Mount Sinai. 00:16:36.22\00:16:39.59 You can't do it. 00:16:39.63\00:16:42.53 There's another mountain on which Christ hangs? 00:16:42.56\00:16:48.84 That's grace. 00:16:48.87\00:16:51.94 The Romans 5 is a controversial chapter 00:16:51.97\00:16:54.78 because it says we are lost in Adam and people say, 00:16:54.81\00:16:59.05 "It isn't fair." 00:16:59.08\00:17:01.12 You think Christ dying for you is fair? 00:17:01.15\00:17:03.52 We're not talking about fairness. 00:17:03.55\00:17:06.45 Romans 5, "We're lost in Adam, but we're saved in Christ." 00:17:06.49\00:17:11.43 Now I've done a whole series, 00:17:11.46\00:17:13.73 verse by verse exposition on this. 00:17:13.76\00:17:17.43 But today, we're doing a summary. 00:17:17.47\00:17:20.74 We're trying to compress the ocean into a thimble. 00:17:20.77\00:17:25.61 So look at Romans 5:12, 00:17:25.64\00:17:30.01 "Therefore, just as through one man 00:17:30.05\00:17:34.28 sin entered the world, and death through sin, 00:17:34.32\00:17:38.29 and thus death spread to all men, 00:17:38.32\00:17:41.06 because all sinned." 00:17:41.09\00:17:45.06 I have people in the church in Sydney, 00:17:45.09\00:17:48.70 they would come to me and they'd say, 00:17:48.73\00:17:50.07 "No, we don't believe this. 00:17:50.10\00:17:51.47 Don't believe what you're teaching." 00:17:51.50\00:17:52.90 But will you believe? 00:17:52.93\00:17:54.27 I don't want to believe that either. 00:17:54.30\00:17:56.77 Through one man sin entered the world. 00:17:56.81\00:18:00.31 Adam was driving the vehicle. He was driving. 00:18:03.48\00:18:10.09 We were in the back seat. 00:18:10.12\00:18:13.96 And when the car went off the road with Adam driving, 00:18:13.99\00:18:17.59 we went off the road with him. 00:18:17.63\00:18:19.53 You say to me as some people have said, 00:18:19.56\00:18:21.76 but I wasn't in the back seat. 00:18:21.80\00:18:23.70 I was not in Adam, I am me. 00:18:23.73\00:18:28.10 I am me, here. 00:18:28.14\00:18:31.77 If you weren't in Adam, let me ask you this. 00:18:31.81\00:18:36.75 Did you come from another planet? 00:18:36.78\00:18:40.32 Where did you come from? 00:18:40.35\00:18:45.39 Now the Bible tells us 00:18:45.42\00:18:49.49 that our Lord 00:18:49.52\00:18:51.23 was in the loins of King David. 00:18:51.26\00:18:54.70 Wasn't He? King David was his father. 00:18:54.73\00:18:59.63 When Adam sinned, 00:18:59.67\00:19:01.84 we spiritually and generically were in Adam. 00:19:01.87\00:19:08.41 Adam was the head of the human race. 00:19:08.44\00:19:13.11 He was the spiritual head. 00:19:13.15\00:19:15.02 He was the genetic head of the human race. 00:19:15.05\00:19:20.86 When Adam sinned, we were in the back seat. 00:19:20.89\00:19:26.46 I was there. 00:19:26.49\00:19:30.00 And when he went off the road, 00:19:30.03\00:19:32.50 the human race went off with Him. 00:19:32.53\00:19:35.30 The Bible says, "For all sinned." 00:19:35.34\00:19:39.44 If you wish to go and read a good commentary 00:19:39.47\00:19:42.74 like our own SDA commentary, 00:19:42.78\00:19:46.08 it says, this is not talking about individual sins. 00:19:46.11\00:19:52.62 Oh, not? 00:19:52.65\00:19:53.99 No, it's talking about the fact that when Adam sinned, 00:19:54.02\00:19:59.13 we sinned in him. 00:19:59.16\00:20:02.86 People say, "Well, no, no, I'm not a sinner 00:20:02.90\00:20:07.50 until I do this and that 00:20:07.54\00:20:11.31 and do something bad like King David." 00:20:11.34\00:20:13.24 No, we are born 00:20:13.27\00:20:16.41 with the black blood of Adam coursing 00:20:16.44\00:20:20.52 in our veins. 00:20:20.55\00:20:22.68 We are born in need of a Savior. 00:20:22.72\00:20:28.92 That is why we ought to train our little children 00:20:28.96\00:20:32.33 when they're tiny to say their prayers. 00:20:32.36\00:20:38.07 I ask the mothers and the fathers, 00:20:38.10\00:20:40.47 "Do you see a little children propensities 00:20:40.50\00:20:43.64 or tendencies to sin?" 00:20:43.67\00:20:47.04 "Oh no, I've never seen." 00:20:47.08\00:20:50.08 You ever see a baby show signs of bad temper? 00:20:50.11\00:20:55.02 Where does it come from mothers? 00:20:55.05\00:20:57.02 The fathers, yes. 00:20:57.05\00:20:59.45 No, we know where it comes from. 00:20:59.49\00:21:01.52 It is born in them. 00:21:01.56\00:21:05.93 That's why Spurgeon referred to it 00:21:05.96\00:21:07.90 as the black blood of Adam coursing in our veins, 00:21:07.93\00:21:11.10 that's why Jesus said, "You must be born again." 00:21:11.13\00:21:17.41 What does this mean? 00:21:17.44\00:21:18.77 Well, we're born with this fallen nature 00:21:18.81\00:21:24.51 and we need to be born again. 00:21:24.55\00:21:27.68 That's what Jesus said. 00:21:27.72\00:21:29.05 Read those verses in Romans 5. 00:21:32.25\00:21:36.49 "Don't disregard them, but think about it." 00:21:36.52\00:21:40.76 What I'm telling you is solid theology. 00:21:40.80\00:21:45.00 Verse 19. 00:21:45.03\00:21:48.30 This is what the greatest scholars 00:21:48.34\00:21:49.67 have ever taught, and our greatest scholars, 00:21:49.70\00:21:53.41 "For as by one man's disobedience," 00:21:53.44\00:21:55.74 what does it say? 00:21:55.78\00:21:57.41 "Many were made sinner." Who is it talking about? 00:21:57.45\00:22:00.38 Adam. 00:22:00.42\00:22:02.75 "For by one man's disobedience, 00:22:02.78\00:22:04.12 by Adam's disobedience many were made sinners... 00:22:04.15\00:22:08.29 So also by one man's obedience 00:22:12.03\00:22:15.26 many will be made righteous." 00:22:15.30\00:22:19.10 Listen carefully. 00:22:19.13\00:22:22.27 We are born in a state of sin and rebellion. 00:22:22.30\00:22:27.94 You don't need to go to the theological seminary 00:22:27.98\00:22:32.65 to learn how to be a Pharisee. 00:22:32.68\00:22:37.19 We are born rebels. 00:22:37.22\00:22:39.72 We are born Pharisees. That's what we are. 00:22:39.75\00:22:45.46 And the greatest sin of all is a failure 00:22:45.49\00:22:49.26 to recognize Christ and who we are. 00:22:49.30\00:22:54.90 And it's the greatest of all sins. 00:22:54.94\00:23:00.91 We're born in the state of sin and rebellion, 00:23:00.94\00:23:03.38 but Jesus has redeemed Adam's failure. 00:23:03.41\00:23:08.22 Therefore, believe in Jesus now, 00:23:08.25\00:23:12.19 and become complete, and saved in Him now. 00:23:12.22\00:23:17.33 A person can pass from death to life now. 00:23:17.36\00:23:22.26 People say, "No, no, it's a process." 00:23:22.30\00:23:25.43 Thank you for the Jesuit contribution. 00:23:25.47\00:23:29.80 We're not talking here about a process. 00:23:29.84\00:23:32.47 We are talking about believing 00:23:32.51\00:23:35.94 with all our hearts as penitents in Christ. 00:23:35.98\00:23:42.75 Romans 5:20, dear hearts and gentle people. 00:23:42.78\00:23:46.52 "Moreover the law entered that the offence might abound. 00:23:49.29\00:23:55.40 But where sin abounded, 00:23:55.43\00:23:58.33 grace abounded much more." 00:23:58.37\00:24:03.10 You see. So in Adam, all is lost. 00:24:03.14\00:24:09.44 In Christ, all is saved. 00:24:09.48\00:24:13.38 The law came in... 00:24:13.42\00:24:14.75 You think the law came in and made us look good. 00:24:14.78\00:24:18.55 You think when God gave the commandments, 00:24:18.59\00:24:20.52 it made us look good. 00:24:20.56\00:24:22.19 Where sin did abound, 00:24:22.22\00:24:24.89 we see ourselves lepers. 00:24:24.93\00:24:29.63 Now if you haven't had that experience, 00:24:29.66\00:24:32.17 you haven't become yet a Christian. 00:24:32.20\00:24:35.90 You may be super religious and super pious. 00:24:35.94\00:24:39.71 The people you've got to be suspicious of are the people 00:24:39.74\00:24:43.31 who are over religious 00:24:43.35\00:24:45.65 because they're probably using religion 00:24:45.68\00:24:48.72 as a cloak to cover their sins. 00:24:48.75\00:24:52.85 So sin comes in like a mighty plague, 00:24:52.89\00:24:55.79 like a mighty flood. 00:24:55.82\00:24:58.56 But when sin comes in like a flood, 00:24:58.59\00:25:04.00 God sends the creator of the universe. 00:25:04.03\00:25:09.94 Almost too hard to believe this. 00:25:09.97\00:25:11.51 The Creator of the cosmos comes 00:25:11.54\00:25:16.58 and He becomes the propitiation 00:25:16.61\00:25:19.21 for my guilt, and my sins, and all of my infidelities, 00:25:19.25\00:25:24.55 and everything else. 00:25:24.59\00:25:26.19 And therefore, what can I do? Amazing. 00:25:26.22\00:25:32.06 Nothing in my hand I bring, 00:25:32.09\00:25:35.26 simply to your cross, I cling. 00:25:35.30\00:25:39.33 And we will continue this in just a moment. 00:25:39.37\00:25:43.54 More amazing truths to come 00:25:43.57\00:25:46.64 about the Redeemer just moments away. 00:25:46.68\00:25:52.08 The antichrist is in the temple of God. 00:26:08.16\00:26:14.00 I will read you the actual words 00:26:14.04\00:26:16.40 of the great Roman Catholic Church. 00:26:16.44\00:26:20.94 More than a billion people pray to the dead. 00:26:20.98\00:26:26.51 But the Bible talks very plainly 00:26:26.55\00:26:27.95 about good angels and bad angels. 00:26:27.98\00:26:31.02 Why on earth were you 00:26:34.32\00:26:37.76 and I born? 00:26:37.79\00:26:39.79 This DVD series from John Carter will be yours 00:26:42.76\00:26:45.53 with a gift of $50 US or $70 Australian, 00:26:45.57\00:26:49.14 write to us at the address on the screen. 00:26:49.17\00:26:51.04 Visit cartereport.com. 00:26:51.07\00:26:52.91 Your home for inspirational teaching. 00:26:52.94\00:26:55.18 1.3 billion people live in India. 00:27:09.62\00:27:13.06 Two hundred million of these are Dalits. 00:27:20.40\00:27:24.11 Dalits formerly called untouchables 00:27:24.14\00:27:27.31 are the lowest members of the caste system. 00:27:27.34\00:27:31.08 One hundred percent of your gift will go 00:27:31.11\00:27:33.62 to fund projects for Dalit girls 00:27:33.65\00:27:36.35 as an alternative to slavery and prostitution. 00:27:36.38\00:27:40.36 Your gift of $600 will educate, clothe, 00:27:40.39\00:27:43.86 and feed one Dalit girl between 5 and 15 years of age 00:27:43.89\00:27:49.06 for one year. 00:27:49.10\00:27:50.43 Go to cartereport.org or to the address on the screen 00:27:53.37\00:27:56.81 to send your gift of $600 00:27:56.84\00:27:59.91 and change the life of one Indian Dalit girl 00:27:59.94\00:28:03.51 for one full year. 00:28:03.55\00:28:05.31 For a copy of today's program, 00:28:12.29\00:28:14.32 please contact us at P.O.
