Welcome to a new Carter Report series, 00:00:01.36\00:00:03.87 The Game Changers. 00:00:03.90\00:00:05.70 These rare individuals appear once in a lifetime. 00:00:05.73\00:00:09.47 Like a blazing meteor across the night sky, 00:00:09.50\00:00:12.37 they change the course of history. 00:00:12.41\00:00:15.21 They show us the way forward. 00:00:15.24\00:00:18.21 Welcome to the Game Changers. 00:00:18.25\00:00:22.35 So glad to see you here today. 00:00:27.16\00:00:30.83 We're studying another series. 00:00:30.86\00:00:32.19 Now we've talked about the Game Changers, 00:00:32.23\00:00:34.26 the Men Game Changers. 00:00:34.30\00:00:36.23 But I made a real faux pas, 00:00:36.26\00:00:38.73 I should have started with the Lady Game Changers. 00:00:38.77\00:00:43.34 And so having been chastised by my family 00:00:43.37\00:00:47.54 and the other ladies whom I know, I have repented. 00:00:47.58\00:00:51.18 And today, we're talking about 00:00:51.21\00:00:53.85 the Lady Game Changers. 00:00:53.88\00:00:57.59 You know that women for thousands of years 00:00:57.62\00:01:02.16 have been treated like second class citizens. 00:01:02.19\00:01:06.96 You know that, don't you? 00:01:07.00\00:01:08.33 There the lady said amen. 00:01:08.36\00:01:10.40 During the 19th century in Great Britain, 00:01:10.43\00:01:13.90 in days of Queen Victoria, this formidable character, 00:01:13.94\00:01:19.01 women were largely regarded 00:01:19.04\00:01:22.54 as attractive ornamental pieces 00:01:22.58\00:01:26.51 or play sets. 00:01:26.55\00:01:29.35 But they were not considered intelligent enough to discuss 00:01:29.38\00:01:32.62 with their husband weighty matters like politics, 00:01:32.65\00:01:37.16 therefore they were forbidden to vote. 00:01:37.19\00:01:41.83 Let me tell you about women's right to vote. 00:01:41.86\00:01:45.27 In 1881, on the Isle of Man, 00:01:45.30\00:01:48.97 should've been the Isle of Woman, 00:01:49.00\00:01:51.01 but the Isle of Man, 00:01:51.04\00:01:53.01 which is a British crown dependency, 00:01:53.04\00:01:56.21 women were given the right to vote 00:01:56.24\00:01:58.81 as long as they owned property. 00:01:58.85\00:02:00.98 That was 1881. 00:02:01.02\00:02:03.02 1893, New Zealand gave all women right to vote. 00:02:03.05\00:02:08.92 This was followed up, I think, it was... 00:02:08.96\00:02:12.09 I think, it was followed straight after 1895 00:02:12.13\00:02:15.13 by South Australia, not all of Australia. 00:02:15.16\00:02:17.97 But then the whole of Australia, 00:02:18.00\00:02:19.60 in 1902, gave women the right to vote. 00:02:19.63\00:02:22.97 1907, now this is not an exhaustive list. 00:02:23.00\00:02:25.97 But 1907, Finland, 00:02:26.01\00:02:29.04 1917, Canada, 00:02:29.08\00:02:32.81 1920, United States of America, 00:02:32.85\00:02:37.29 40 years behind the Isle of Man. 00:02:37.32\00:02:42.72 1933, Spain, 1944, France. 00:02:42.76\00:02:47.63 1971, I was astounded 00:02:47.66\00:02:50.63 to discover the Switzerland, Switzerland. 00:02:50.67\00:02:55.00 And in 2015, Saudi Arabia. 00:02:55.04\00:02:59.47 Nothing surprising about that one. 00:02:59.51\00:03:01.94 A Protestant country is generally first, 00:03:01.98\00:03:04.38 then the Catholic countries. 00:03:04.41\00:03:06.35 And last of all, the Muslim countries. 00:03:06.38\00:03:10.52 But all countries have treated women 00:03:10.55\00:03:13.32 as second class citizens. 00:03:13.36\00:03:18.19 In the days of Jesus, 00:03:18.23\00:03:20.00 the word of woman "did not count." 00:03:20.03\00:03:25.70 And so that's why, 00:03:25.73\00:03:27.07 when Mary Magdalene and the women came 00:03:27.10\00:03:29.10 with the news of the resurrection, 00:03:29.14\00:03:32.41 the men said, "This is just woman talking." 00:03:32.44\00:03:36.14 It was considered to be vain tales 00:03:36.18\00:03:39.78 because of women. 00:03:39.81\00:03:42.15 But Jesus change things. 00:03:42.18\00:03:45.72 So let it be said today loud and clear, 00:03:45.75\00:03:49.06 women have done mighty deeds 00:03:49.09\00:03:52.06 and they have changed the course of history. 00:03:52.09\00:03:55.96 And so today, we're not just talking about 00:03:56.00\00:03:57.90 the game changers, 00:03:57.93\00:03:59.53 we're talking about, who, the lady game changers. 00:03:59.57\00:04:04.47 We're going to start today with the mother of us all. 00:04:04.51\00:04:08.28 Her name, of course, was Eve. 00:04:08.31\00:04:10.35 We all go back to Eve. 00:04:10.38\00:04:11.98 Therefore, we are all related, whether we're black or white 00:04:12.01\00:04:16.02 or brown or red or whatever the color. 00:04:16.05\00:04:19.35 We all go back to Eve, we are all genetically related. 00:04:19.39\00:04:24.13 And the story of Eve 00:04:24.16\00:04:25.76 really starts in Genesis 1:27. 00:04:25.79\00:04:30.97 And the TV audience, 00:04:31.00\00:04:32.33 you've got Bibles on the tables, 00:04:32.37\00:04:34.50 and the Bible says, Genesis 1:27, 00:04:34.54\00:04:38.67 "So God created man in His own image, 00:04:38.71\00:04:42.51 in the image of God, 00:04:42.54\00:04:43.88 He created him male and female." 00:04:43.91\00:04:48.15 He created them. 00:04:48.18\00:04:51.92 Eve was probably the most beautiful woman 00:04:51.95\00:04:57.23 the world has ever seen 00:04:57.26\00:04:59.89 because she came fresh 00:04:59.93\00:05:03.30 from the hand of God. 00:05:03.33\00:05:06.03 She was extremely beautiful. 00:05:06.07\00:05:11.74 She was beautiful, ladies, but she wasn't wise. 00:05:11.77\00:05:16.58 If you turn to Genesis chapter 3 in the Bible 00:05:16.61\00:05:20.12 and verses 1 to 4, it says, "Now the serpent," Satan, 00:05:20.15\00:05:25.19 "was more cunning than any beast of the field 00:05:25.22\00:05:28.16 which the Lord God had made. 00:05:28.19\00:05:31.56 And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, 00:05:31.59\00:05:34.90 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?' 00:05:34.93\00:05:37.83 And the women said to the serpent, 00:05:37.87\00:05:39.43 'We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden 00:05:39.47\00:05:42.37 but of the fruit of the tree 00:05:42.40\00:05:43.84 which is in the midst of the garden. 00:05:43.87\00:05:46.51 God has said, 00:05:46.54\00:05:47.88 'You shall not eat it nor shall you touch it, 00:05:47.91\00:05:51.91 lest you die.' 00:05:51.95\00:05:54.08 Then the serpent said to the woman, 00:05:54.12\00:05:58.32 'You will not surely die.'" 00:05:58.35\00:06:00.59 And verse 5 and 6, 00:06:00.62\00:06:02.72 "For God knows that in the day you eat of it, 00:06:02.76\00:06:05.36 your eyes will be opened and you will be like God 00:06:05.39\00:06:10.10 knowing good and evil." 00:06:10.13\00:06:11.93 And here, he was telling the truth. 00:06:11.97\00:06:15.00 "So when the woman saw 00:06:15.04\00:06:16.37 that the tree was good for food, 00:06:16.40\00:06:18.71 that was pleasant to the eyes, 00:06:18.74\00:06:20.98 and a tree desirable to make one wise, 00:06:21.01\00:06:23.58 she took of its fruit and ate. 00:06:23.61\00:06:25.95 She also gave to her husband with her, 00:06:25.98\00:06:29.42 and he ate." 00:06:29.45\00:06:33.39 Woman 00:06:33.42\00:06:35.29 is naturally curious. 00:06:35.32\00:06:40.20 And you know what curiosity did to the cat, don't you? 00:06:40.23\00:06:45.53 Women have many marvelous qualities and characteristics, 00:06:45.57\00:06:49.70 and high in the list is the capacity of curiosity. 00:06:49.74\00:06:54.58 We have a beautiful, little granddaughter, 00:06:57.58\00:07:00.55 and her name is Amiley. 00:07:00.58\00:07:03.05 And she is just now seven years of age. 00:07:03.08\00:07:07.46 And since she was two, or was it one, 00:07:07.49\00:07:10.99 she's had two very precious, important words. 00:07:11.03\00:07:16.46 You know what they are? 00:07:16.50\00:07:18.23 No. No. 00:07:18.27\00:07:21.84 And not just no, but no. 00:07:21.87\00:07:24.84 And the second one, you know what it is? 00:07:24.87\00:07:26.91 Why? 00:07:26.94\00:07:28.28 And then if you answer that, 00:07:28.31\00:07:29.64 you know what the next question is, why? 00:07:29.68\00:07:32.41 Why? 00:07:32.45\00:07:33.78 So I guess, 00:07:33.82\00:07:35.15 Amiley got it from Eve. 00:07:35.18\00:07:40.56 I once went up there Christmas time with Beverley. 00:07:40.59\00:07:44.53 And I said to Amiley, 00:07:44.56\00:07:46.19 "We bought you a pair of new shoes." 00:07:46.23\00:07:48.13 You know what she said? 00:07:48.16\00:07:50.30 What color, grandpa? 00:07:50.33\00:07:51.67 What color, grandpa? 00:07:55.24\00:07:57.14 You see, they don't learn this. 00:07:57.17\00:07:59.41 They don't learn this. 00:07:59.44\00:08:00.78 It's born in them. 00:08:00.81\00:08:03.28 And Eve was a... 00:08:03.31\00:08:05.35 God bless them, she was curious. 00:08:05.38\00:08:09.98 It's good to be curious, 00:08:10.02\00:08:11.59 but not when it leads you to disobey God. 00:08:11.62\00:08:14.79 And she disobeyed God, 00:08:14.82\00:08:16.16 and the result was sin and death. 00:08:16.19\00:08:19.49 And later on, they had two sons. 00:08:19.53\00:08:21.63 It's quite history, Cain and Abel. 00:08:21.66\00:08:24.50 And the first man who was born of the human race 00:08:24.53\00:08:28.30 was a murderer. 00:08:28.34\00:08:30.61 He murdered his brother. 00:08:30.64\00:08:31.97 And on one day, 00:08:32.01\00:08:33.68 Adam and Eve lost their boys. 00:08:33.71\00:08:37.85 And Eve came to know good and evil. 00:08:37.88\00:08:40.95 Satan was right. 00:08:40.98\00:08:43.42 But there is some evidence that suggests 00:08:43.45\00:08:45.35 she repented and learned to trust in God. 00:08:45.39\00:08:50.33 This is not definitive, 00:08:50.36\00:08:51.69 but I think there's evidence for it. 00:08:51.73\00:08:53.56 If you look at Genesis 4:25 and 26, 00:08:53.60\00:08:58.87 the Bible says, "And Adam knew his wife again, 00:08:58.90\00:09:01.50 and she bore a son, and named him Seth. 00:09:01.54\00:09:04.81 'For God has appointed another seed for me 00:09:04.84\00:09:06.98 instead of Abel whom Cain killed.' 00:09:07.01\00:09:11.11 And as for Seth, to him also a son was born, 00:09:11.15\00:09:14.02 and he named him Enosh. 00:09:14.05\00:09:16.38 Then men began to call on the name of the Lord." 00:09:16.42\00:09:21.69 It appeared that when she had a boy, 00:09:21.72\00:09:27.13 she taught him about the Creator God, 00:09:27.16\00:09:29.56 taught him about the law of God, 00:09:29.60\00:09:31.80 and taught him the Gospel of God. 00:09:31.83\00:09:34.80 And then when he had a family, the Bible says, 00:09:34.84\00:09:38.97 "People began to call on the name of the Lord." 00:09:39.01\00:09:44.55 I think it's because of what she taught him. 00:09:44.58\00:09:47.12 And there's something else, too. 00:09:47.15\00:09:48.55 I want you to notice this. 00:09:48.58\00:09:49.92 This is quite remarkable. 00:09:49.95\00:09:51.29 Genesis 3:20 and 21, 00:09:51.32\00:09:57.06 Genesis 3, 00:09:57.09\00:09:59.79 "And Adam called his wife's name Eve, 00:09:59.83\00:10:03.73 because she was the mother of all living. 00:10:03.77\00:10:07.24 Also for Adam and his wife the Lord God 00:10:07.27\00:10:09.97 made tunics of skin, and clothed them." 00:10:10.01\00:10:13.88 What does that tell you? 00:10:13.91\00:10:16.58 It tells you that God with His own hands 00:10:16.61\00:10:21.95 slew a beast, maybe a lamb. 00:10:21.98\00:10:26.96 And so blood was shed 00:10:26.99\00:10:28.36 so that these people might be covered 00:10:28.39\00:10:32.29 by the grace and the goodness of God 00:10:32.33\00:10:35.16 which is the gospel. 00:10:35.20\00:10:36.77 So if God covered Eve with the garments 00:10:36.80\00:10:41.40 that were caused by the shedding of blood, 00:10:41.44\00:10:44.87 I would suggest to you that Eve was safe 00:10:44.91\00:10:49.18 because she was under the blood of the covenant. 00:10:49.21\00:10:53.95 And even though there was great sin 00:10:53.98\00:10:56.82 and this is the glory of God. 00:10:56.85\00:10:58.45 Even though there was great sin, 00:10:58.49\00:11:01.16 there was great grace because where sin did abound, 00:11:01.19\00:11:04.46 what does the Bible say? 00:11:04.49\00:11:06.09 Grace did much more abound. 00:11:06.13\00:11:09.26 Second great lady game changer is Sarah, 00:11:09.30\00:11:12.77 the lady who had a baby when she was 90 years of age, 00:11:12.80\00:11:18.14 a woman of divine destiny, 00:11:18.17\00:11:21.51 the mother of the Israelites, 00:11:21.54\00:11:24.28 the mother of the Messiah 00:11:24.31\00:11:26.11 who would redeem Eve's sin and failure. 00:11:26.15\00:11:29.95 Her name means princess. 00:11:29.98\00:11:32.55 She is first mentioned by name after Eve. 00:11:32.59\00:11:36.26 And the Bible tells us 00:11:36.29\00:11:39.66 that she came from Ur of the Chaldees. 00:11:39.69\00:11:43.83 "And Terah took his son Abram and his grandson Lot, 00:11:43.87\00:11:48.80 the son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai," 00:11:48.84\00:11:54.14 later Sarah, "his son Abram's wife, 00:11:54.18\00:11:57.75 and they went out with them from Ur of the Chaldees 00:11:57.78\00:12:01.48 to go the land of Canaan, 00:12:01.52\00:12:03.49 and they came to Haran and dwelt there." 00:12:03.52\00:12:06.19 So this woman came from Iraq, 00:12:06.22\00:12:11.16 Southern Mesopotamia. 00:12:11.19\00:12:15.26 I've been to Ur of the Chaldees. 00:12:15.30\00:12:17.13 Once upon a time, 00:12:17.17\00:12:18.63 it was a marvelously sophisticated city. 00:12:18.67\00:12:22.00 She went with Abraham north to Haran's state awhile 00:12:22.04\00:12:25.64 and then went to Palestine. 00:12:25.67\00:12:27.11 All this happened some 4,000 years ago. 00:12:27.14\00:12:29.68 But we will discover that human nature 00:12:29.71\00:12:31.71 is the same today as it was then. 00:12:31.75\00:12:34.35 Sarah was very, very beautiful. 00:12:34.38\00:12:38.52 The Bible says that through no fault of Sarah, 00:12:38.55\00:12:42.02 he took her into his harem. 00:12:42.06\00:12:45.49 She was a woman with the wow factor. 00:12:45.53\00:12:50.10 She had the ability to turn men's heads and their hearts. 00:12:50.13\00:12:55.27 Abraham said to her, "Say you are my sister." 00:12:55.30\00:12:58.74 And when he said this, he told a half truth. 00:12:58.77\00:13:02.94 But a half truth, you all should know, 00:13:02.98\00:13:05.28 is a total lie. 00:13:05.31\00:13:07.65 And she was saved by the divine intervention of God 00:13:07.68\00:13:11.95 and saved from being a part of harem's family. 00:13:11.99\00:13:16.89 Sarah wanted a baby. 00:13:16.93\00:13:20.16 She was unable to conceive, 00:13:20.20\00:13:22.10 and this was a thing of great disgrace in her day. 00:13:22.13\00:13:25.83 And so, she said to her husband Abraham, 00:13:25.87\00:13:29.67 "I have a beautiful girl who is my slave girl. 00:13:29.70\00:13:33.31 She is a beautiful Egyptian girl, 00:13:33.34\00:13:35.88 she looks as fair as the princess of the Nile. 00:13:35.91\00:13:39.41 Her name is Hagar. 00:13:39.45\00:13:41.32 I want you to go into her, 00:13:41.35\00:13:44.59 and have my baby through her." 00:13:44.62\00:13:48.26 Abraham said, "Whatever you tell me to do, 00:13:48.29\00:13:52.66 I'm just going to do that as a faithful husband." 00:13:52.69\00:13:56.97 He slept with Hagar, and she became pregnant, 00:13:57.00\00:14:00.14 and she bore a boy by the name of Ishmael. 00:14:00.17\00:14:04.97 But later on when Hagar showed disrespect to Sarai, 00:14:05.01\00:14:09.81 because she was now on top of everything, Sarah got mad, 00:14:09.84\00:14:13.72 punished Hagar and treated her very unkindly. 00:14:13.75\00:14:19.02 Some people think that the Bible characters 00:14:19.05\00:14:21.72 are sinless people, and that's not so. 00:14:21.76\00:14:25.09 Sarah was not a woman to mess with, 00:14:25.13\00:14:29.56 she was not perfect in herself. 00:14:29.60\00:14:32.80 And about 14 years later, three men came calling. 00:14:32.83\00:14:36.74 This is one of the most extraordinary stories 00:14:36.77\00:14:38.81 in the Bible 00:14:38.84\00:14:40.18 because one of those men that came calling, 00:14:40.21\00:14:42.54 if you can believe this, two of them were angels, 00:14:42.58\00:14:46.11 and one of those men that came calling 00:14:46.15\00:14:50.12 was Yahweh Elohim. 00:14:50.15\00:14:53.29 And He said, 00:14:53.32\00:14:55.52 "This time next year, Abraham, 00:14:55.56\00:14:59.73 Sarah your wife is going to have her own baby." 00:14:59.76\00:15:04.47 And the Bible says 00:15:04.50\00:15:07.74 that Abraham fell on his face and laughed, 00:15:07.77\00:15:11.24 and Sarah was in another part of the tent, 00:15:11.27\00:15:14.88 and she laughed and laughed. 00:15:14.91\00:15:16.38 And God said to her, "You're laughing." 00:15:16.41\00:15:19.28 She said, "I'm not laughing." 00:15:19.31\00:15:20.65 She's almost 90. 00:15:25.89\00:15:29.49 Never give up, my folks. 00:15:29.52\00:15:31.06 Never give up. 00:15:31.09\00:15:32.43 Sarah is almost 90, 00:15:32.46\00:15:33.80 Abraham is almost 100, and they laughed. 00:15:33.83\00:15:39.47 And next year, Sarah is pregnant, 00:15:39.50\00:15:42.60 she is 90 and still has the wow factor. 00:15:42.64\00:15:47.31 Abraham is 100. 00:15:47.34\00:15:49.41 Everyone is laughing for joy. 00:15:49.44\00:15:54.95 Nothing is too hard for God, 00:15:54.98\00:15:56.82 and the boy is called laughing, 00:15:56.85\00:16:01.72 that's Isaac. 00:16:01.76\00:16:03.93 The time comes for Isaac to be weaned. 00:16:03.96\00:16:06.26 You can read this in Genesis 21:9 to 11. 00:16:06.29\00:16:09.03 Genesis 21:9 to 11, 00:16:09.06\00:16:12.33 "And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, 00:16:12.37\00:16:15.57 whom she had borne to Abraham, scoffing. 00:16:15.60\00:16:20.11 Therefore, she said to Abraham, 00:16:20.14\00:16:21.81 'Cast out this bondwoman and her son, 00:16:21.84\00:16:26.31 for the son of the bondwoman 00:16:26.35\00:16:28.22 shall not be heir with my son, namely with Isaac. 00:16:28.25\00:16:32.22 And the matter was very displeasing 00:16:32.25\00:16:34.42 in Abraham's sight because of his son." 00:16:34.46\00:16:38.63 She's little hard, this woman, little vindictive. 00:16:38.66\00:16:44.00 Cast them out. 00:16:44.03\00:16:46.74 So they cast out in the desert. 00:16:46.77\00:16:49.80 The circumstances are so deplorable 00:16:49.84\00:16:52.51 that it appears 00:16:52.54\00:16:54.18 that they're going to die for want of water. 00:16:54.21\00:16:59.21 Then God intervened. 00:16:59.25\00:17:00.88 So He opens up a well, 00:17:00.92\00:17:02.42 and Hagar and Ishmael 00:17:02.45\00:17:06.05 are saved. 00:17:06.09\00:17:08.46 Ishmael becomes the father, 00:17:08.49\00:17:10.66 as you all know, of the Arabs. 00:17:10.69\00:17:14.80 And Sarah, the mother of Isaac becomes the father of the Jews. 00:17:14.83\00:17:20.40 And thus the feud 00:17:20.44\00:17:23.07 between these two warring women 00:17:23.10\00:17:26.78 is perpetuated today in the struggle 00:17:26.81\00:17:29.74 between the Arabs and the Israelis. 00:17:29.78\00:17:33.75 The great fight in the Middle East 00:17:33.78\00:17:35.35 that goes on now 00:17:35.38\00:17:38.19 goes back to two proud women 00:17:38.22\00:17:43.76 who just wouldn't get along. 00:17:43.79\00:17:47.23 Now she trains Isaac to love and obey God. 00:17:47.26\00:17:50.20 And then comes the great test. 00:17:50.23\00:17:52.27 Genesis 22:1 and 2, "Now it came to pass 00:17:52.30\00:17:55.87 after these things that God tested Abraham, 00:17:55.90\00:17:57.91 and said to him, 'Abraham!' 00:17:57.94\00:17:59.27 And he said, 'Here I am.' 00:17:59.31\00:18:00.84 Then He said, 'Take now your son, 00:18:00.88\00:18:02.51 your only son Isaac, 00:18:02.54\00:18:03.88 whom you love and go to the land of the Moriah, 00:18:03.91\00:18:06.35 and offer him there as a burnt offering 00:18:06.38\00:18:08.65 on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.'" 00:18:08.68\00:18:10.82 An extraordinary thing. 00:18:10.85\00:18:13.49 Here's the boy they'd hope for and prayed for all their lives. 00:18:13.52\00:18:17.26 And the boy is now a young man, 00:18:17.29\00:18:20.43 he's probably as big and as strong as his father. 00:18:20.46\00:18:24.90 And God says to him, 00:18:24.93\00:18:26.27 "Go to Mount Moriah, 00:18:26.30\00:18:29.07 offer him up." 00:18:29.10\00:18:32.47 It's three days journey to Mount Moriah. 00:18:32.51\00:18:34.84 Look at Genesis 22:9 to 11, 00:18:34.88\00:18:38.01 three long horrible days. 00:18:38.05\00:18:41.05 "Then they came to the place of which God had told him. 00:18:41.08\00:18:44.22 Abraham built an altar there and placed the wood in order, 00:18:44.25\00:18:47.19 and he bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, 00:18:47.22\00:18:50.19 upon the wood. 00:18:50.23\00:18:51.56 And Abraham stretched out his hand 00:18:51.59\00:18:53.29 and took the knife to slay his son. 00:18:53.33\00:18:56.56 But the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven 00:18:56.60\00:18:59.27 and said, 'Abraham, Abraham!' 00:18:59.30\00:19:01.80 And he said, 'Here I am.'" 00:19:01.84\00:19:03.61 You just think of this. 00:19:03.64\00:19:05.87 He's a big, strong, solid young man. 00:19:05.91\00:19:11.65 And he allows his father to bind him 00:19:11.68\00:19:15.15 and put him on an altar. 00:19:15.18\00:19:17.59 What does that tell you? 00:19:17.62\00:19:20.96 It tells me that she must have taught 00:19:20.99\00:19:23.19 this young man to trust in God 00:19:23.22\00:19:27.06 and to obey his parents. 00:19:27.10\00:19:30.80 What so odd about this! 00:19:30.83\00:19:33.47 Trust in God and obey your parents. 00:19:33.50\00:19:38.04 But then, 00:19:38.07\00:19:41.48 there's a ram caught in the thicket. 00:19:41.51\00:19:45.21 God says, "Look around. 00:19:45.25\00:19:48.68 There's a lamb." 00:19:48.72\00:19:50.35 Abraham takes the lamb and lets his boy go, 00:19:50.39\00:19:54.16 and he sacrifices the lamb. 00:19:54.19\00:19:56.73 Can you imagine Abraham, Isaac getting home? 00:19:56.76\00:20:01.03 Abraham calls at, "Sarah, Sarah." 00:20:01.06\00:20:04.20 He's been away for days. 00:20:04.23\00:20:05.60 She runs out. 00:20:05.63\00:20:07.34 He says, "Here is your boy. 00:20:07.37\00:20:09.10 Here is your boy. 00:20:09.14\00:20:11.91 God provided a lamb." 00:20:11.94\00:20:15.08 People say, "Folks back there had no idea about the gospel." 00:20:15.11\00:20:19.25 This is the gospel, the lamb. 00:20:19.28\00:20:23.22 He was submissive because she was a great mother. 00:20:23.25\00:20:25.65 From Isaac came Jacob, from Jacob came Israel, 00:20:25.69\00:20:29.69 from Israel came Jesus, savior of the world. 00:20:29.72\00:20:33.90 The girl who came from Southern Iraq, 00:20:33.93\00:20:39.30 been there. 00:20:39.33\00:20:41.17 There came a game changer. 00:20:41.20\00:20:43.44 Sarah changes the world and gave us Christ 00:20:43.47\00:20:46.47 who redeemed Eve's failure. 00:20:46.51\00:20:49.21 She teaches us to believe in the God of the impossible, 00:20:49.24\00:20:52.55 the God of miracles. 00:20:52.58\00:20:54.35 What do you say about that? 00:20:54.38\00:20:56.28 Sort of amazing, isn't it? 00:20:56.32\00:20:57.79 Nothing is too hard for God, and God provides a lamb 00:20:57.82\00:21:01.86 for His people, that's the gospel. 00:21:01.89\00:21:05.23 Third lady game changer is somebody 00:21:05.26\00:21:07.53 most of us know nothing about. 00:21:07.56\00:21:09.60 Her name is Hatshepsut, 00:21:09.63\00:21:11.77 the princess who found baby Moses, 00:21:11.80\00:21:15.74 and this woman eventually became the Pharaoh. 00:21:15.77\00:21:17.81 When you read the story 00:21:17.84\00:21:19.87 in Exodus 2:5 and 6, 00:21:19.91\00:21:25.81 "Then the daughter of Pharaoh 00:21:25.85\00:21:27.22 came down to bath at the river." 00:21:27.25\00:21:29.12 I think it was Hatshepsut. 00:21:29.15\00:21:30.85 "And her maidens walked along the riverside, 00:21:30.89\00:21:33.36 and when they saw the ark among the reeds, 00:21:33.39\00:21:35.92 she sent her maid to get it. 00:21:35.96\00:21:38.43 And when she opened it, she saw the child, 00:21:38.46\00:21:41.63 and behold, the baby is crying. 00:21:41.66\00:21:45.97 So she had compassion on him, and said, 00:21:46.00\00:21:49.07 'This is one of the Hebrews' children.'" 00:21:49.10\00:21:51.24 Well, here is a pagan princess, 00:21:51.27\00:21:54.28 she becomes the lady Pharaoh. 00:21:54.31\00:21:58.45 I'm going by the best of scholarship in agreement 00:21:58.48\00:22:01.42 with great scholars like Dr. Randall Younker. 00:22:01.45\00:22:05.45 She was a pagan princess, 00:22:05.49\00:22:07.36 but God used her to save Israel's savior. 00:22:07.39\00:22:11.93 No Moses, no Pentateuch. 00:22:11.96\00:22:15.26 No Moses, no Exodus, 00:22:15.30\00:22:18.07 no Ten Commandments, 00:22:18.10\00:22:20.10 no Israel, no Jesus, no gospel. 00:22:20.14\00:22:25.77 Because of this lady whom I believe, later on, 00:22:25.81\00:22:29.84 came to understand the gospel 00:22:29.88\00:22:31.75 because she saw the blood on the door. 00:22:31.78\00:22:34.35 What do you think Moses would have told? 00:22:34.38\00:22:37.95 And so this pagan lady 00:22:37.99\00:22:40.99 that most of us know nothing about 00:22:41.02\00:22:43.86 is one of the reasons we are sitting here today. 00:22:43.89\00:22:48.26 At the same time, in this great drama, 00:22:48.30\00:22:52.03 there are two ladies, Jochebed and Miriam. 00:22:52.07\00:22:57.61 Look at Exodus 2:7 to 9. 00:22:57.64\00:23:01.54 Exodus 2:7 to 9, "Then his sister," 00:23:01.58\00:23:06.72 this is the sister of Moses. 00:23:06.75\00:23:09.52 She's about seven years old. 00:23:09.55\00:23:11.45 She's like Amiley. 00:23:11.49\00:23:12.82 "Then his sister said to Pharaoh's daughter," 00:23:12.85\00:23:15.62 we think that's Hatshepsut, "Shall I go and call a nurse 00:23:15.66\00:23:20.10 for you from the Hebrews women, 00:23:20.13\00:23:22.23 that she may nurse the child for you?" 00:23:22.26\00:23:25.23 Just found this little baby in the bulrushes. 00:23:25.27\00:23:27.90 "And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, 'Go.' 00:23:27.94\00:23:30.87 So the maiden went and called the child's mother." 00:23:30.91\00:23:36.08 People say, "I can't believe in a providence of God." 00:23:36.11\00:23:39.38 "Then Pharaoh's daughter said to her, 00:23:39.41\00:23:41.15 'Take this child away and nurse him for me, 00:23:41.18\00:23:44.99 I'm going to pay you for being a mother.' 00:23:45.02\00:23:48.26 So the woman took the child and nursed him.'" 00:23:48.29\00:23:52.26 We've got here two amazing women. 00:23:52.29\00:23:56.23 When Moses was born, 00:23:56.26\00:23:58.47 Miriam was about seven years of age, 00:23:58.50\00:24:01.74 like my granddaughter Amiley. 00:24:01.77\00:24:04.07 My American friends, my granddaughter, 00:24:04.11\00:24:06.68 our granddaughter Amiley was born on the 4th of July. 00:24:06.71\00:24:11.38 How American can you get. 00:24:11.41\00:24:16.12 But God trusted the fate of the world 00:24:16.15\00:24:18.05 to a seven year old girl. 00:24:18.09\00:24:20.12 How well her mother had trained Miriam. 00:24:20.16\00:24:23.06 She watched over her baby brother, 00:24:23.09\00:24:25.76 she was reliable and dependable. 00:24:25.79\00:24:28.43 She saved her brother from certain death. 00:24:28.46\00:24:31.67 What a great little girl. 00:24:31.70\00:24:33.90 Jochebed only had him for a few years, how long? 00:24:33.94\00:24:36.97 Look at Exodus 2:10. 00:24:37.01\00:24:40.78 We're not told exactly, 00:24:40.81\00:24:42.14 but I'm going to tell you what I think. 00:24:42.18\00:24:44.05 "And the child grew," this is Moses, 00:24:44.08\00:24:47.38 "and she brought him to Pharaoh's daughter, 00:24:47.42\00:24:51.29 and he became her son. 00:24:51.32\00:24:54.29 So she called his name Moses, saying, 00:24:54.32\00:24:56.46 'Because I drew him out of the water.'" 00:24:56.49\00:25:00.86 He's probably 12 years of age, think what she taught him. 00:25:00.90\00:25:03.90 She had him for 12 years, only 12 years. 00:25:03.93\00:25:06.84 She taught him who he was, where he came from, 00:25:06.87\00:25:11.84 why he was here, and where he was going. 00:25:11.87\00:25:15.41 She told him the story of the creator. 00:25:15.44\00:25:19.68 It never left him. 00:25:19.71\00:25:23.18 He might look like an Egyptian prince
