I'm John Carter in Moscow... 00:00:01.36\00:00:02.70 I'm now in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. 00:00:02.73\00:00:04.67 I'm John Carter in Petra... 00:00:04.70\00:00:06.47 Reporting from India... 00:00:06.50\00:00:08.44 In Columbia... 00:00:08.47\00:00:09.80 I'm John Carter. 00:00:09.84\00:00:11.24 Today on the Carter Report, 00:00:11.27\00:00:13.74 Pastor Carter brings us the triumph of Protestantism. 00:00:13.78\00:00:17.31 I'm just so glad to welcome you today to the Carter Report. 00:00:21.88\00:00:24.95 The topic is an exciting one, the triumph of Protestantism. 00:00:24.99\00:00:30.93 Just a little over 500 years ago, 00:00:30.96\00:00:34.20 Martin Luther put his 95 theses 00:00:34.23\00:00:37.90 up on the door of a Roman Catholic Church 00:00:37.93\00:00:41.70 and shook the world. 00:00:41.74\00:00:43.51 We're gonna talk about that today, 00:00:43.54\00:00:44.87 the triumph of Protestantism. 00:00:44.91\00:00:47.94 I get every week The Economist magazine, 00:00:47.98\00:00:51.41 it's published in the United States of America, 00:00:51.45\00:00:55.58 but it's edited and written basically in England. 00:00:55.62\00:00:59.95 It's an amazing magazine. 00:00:59.99\00:01:02.06 And The Economist magazine 00:01:02.09\00:01:04.23 tells a story of a little town in Guatemala. 00:01:04.26\00:01:07.96 Now this is not a religious magazine, 00:01:08.00\00:01:11.33 this is now put out by the Far-right, 00:01:11.37\00:01:13.74 this is not evangelical, this is completely secular. 00:01:13.77\00:01:17.01 And it talks about Martin Luther 00:01:17.04\00:01:21.98 and the triumph of Protestantism. 00:01:22.01\00:01:25.81 And this secular magazine starts by telling the story 00:01:25.85\00:01:29.72 of a little town in Guatemala which is called Almolonga. 00:01:29.75\00:01:35.32 It says this, 00:01:35.36\00:01:37.29 "Once upon a time it was full of crime, 00:01:37.33\00:01:40.73 and drugs, and prostitutes. 00:01:40.76\00:01:43.73 It was just a terrible place. 00:01:43.77\00:01:46.57 In the summer of 1974, 00:01:46.60\00:01:49.90 a 26-year-old Mayan villager 00:01:49.94\00:01:53.81 lay drunk in a town square in the highlands of Guatemala. 00:01:53.84\00:01:59.65 Suddenly he heard a voice 00:01:59.68\00:02:01.85 that was to change the course of his life 00:02:01.88\00:02:04.02 and that of his home town, Almolonga. 00:02:04.05\00:02:08.69 Almolonga. 00:02:08.72\00:02:11.23 "I was lying there and I saw Jesus saying, 00:02:11.26\00:02:13.80 'I love you and I want you to serve me,'" 00:02:13.83\00:02:17.57 says the man. 00:02:17.60\00:02:19.07 He dusted himself down, 00:02:19.10\00:02:20.67 sobered up and soon started preaching, 00:02:20.70\00:02:23.37 establishing a Protestant congregation in a room 00:02:23.41\00:02:28.24 not far from the town's ancient Catholic Church. 00:02:28.28\00:02:34.08 The magazine goes on says that 00:02:34.12\00:02:36.15 this town was about as bad as you can imagine, 00:02:36.18\00:02:40.52 full of prostitutes, full of drugs, 00:02:40.56\00:02:43.96 the people were dreadfully poor. 00:02:43.99\00:02:46.63 But then the Economist magazine said, 00:02:46.66\00:02:48.93 "When Protestantism came to town, 00:02:48.96\00:02:52.40 there was a tremendous revolution 00:02:52.43\00:02:55.67 and the druggies went away 00:02:55.70\00:02:57.37 and the prostitutes were out of business." 00:02:57.41\00:03:00.94 It is now the most prosperous part 00:03:00.98\00:03:04.78 of this land of Guatemala. 00:03:04.81\00:03:08.65 I discovered today 00:03:08.68\00:03:10.02 and this is really sort of funny. 00:03:10.05\00:03:14.26 You see the carrots here on the screen. 00:03:14.29\00:03:16.46 Well, I'm told they're about 00:03:16.49\00:03:18.36 the biggest carrots in the world. 00:03:18.39\00:03:22.53 It seems as though God just 00:03:22.56\00:03:25.53 put His blessing upon that town 00:03:25.57\00:03:27.54 that for hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of years 00:03:27.57\00:03:31.97 had been steeped in the religion of another church. 00:03:32.01\00:03:36.58 So we're gonna talk today 00:03:36.61\00:03:38.11 about the triumph of Protestantism. 00:03:38.15\00:03:41.78 I think I'll show you another statement over here too 00:03:41.82\00:03:44.45 in The Economist magazine that says, 00:03:44.49\00:03:47.96 "Changed lives change places. 00:03:47.99\00:03:53.90 Almolonga's Pentecostal believers 00:03:53.93\00:03:57.53 have brought new energy to their town. 00:03:57.57\00:04:01.27 Where once the prison was full 00:04:01.30\00:04:02.70 and drunks slumped in the streets, 00:04:02.74\00:04:05.27 there is now a buzz of activity. 00:04:05.31\00:04:09.74 A secondary school opened in 2003, 00:04:09.78\00:04:12.85 it sends some of its graduates, 00:04:12.88\00:04:14.75 all members of the indigenous K'iche people, 00:04:14.78\00:04:19.02 to national universities. 00:04:19.05\00:04:20.66 'We want one of our students to work at NASA,' says Oscar, 00:04:20.69\00:04:24.99 who chairs the school board." 00:04:25.03\00:04:27.43 You know, it's almost too hard to believe 00:04:27.46\00:04:29.96 that this place had been such a poverty place, 00:04:30.00\00:04:33.13 but then the gospel of Martin Luther, 00:04:33.17\00:04:36.57 more correctly the gospel of the Bible 00:04:36.60\00:04:39.01 came to this town. 00:04:39.04\00:04:40.81 Now let me ask you... 00:04:40.84\00:04:43.21 Let me ask this question, 00:04:43.24\00:04:45.15 and I don't say this to offend our Catholic friends, 00:04:45.18\00:04:47.85 but I'm gonna say just the same 00:04:47.88\00:04:49.22 because it's the truth. 00:04:49.25\00:04:51.42 What is so different about Protestantism? 00:04:51.45\00:04:54.66 Why is the Protestant movement 00:04:54.69\00:04:57.43 so different to the Roman Catholic movement? 00:04:57.46\00:05:00.80 And here it is. 00:05:00.83\00:05:02.86 In the Roman Catholic Church, the emphasis is on the church, 00:05:02.90\00:05:08.30 and on earthly priests, and on the pope himself, 00:05:08.34\00:05:12.81 but in the Protestant Church, 00:05:12.84\00:05:14.51 the emphasis is not on the church, 00:05:14.54\00:05:16.95 the emphasis is on the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:05:16.98\00:05:21.18 And so they have a saying, as you know, 00:05:21.22\00:05:23.18 I'm gonna talk about this as we go along, 00:05:23.22\00:05:25.02 they have a saying "Sola Christus" 00:05:25.05\00:05:27.52 which means only Christ. 00:05:27.56\00:05:30.39 Now I want you to open your Bibles 00:05:30.43\00:05:32.06 and come over here with me 00:05:32.09\00:05:33.43 to John 14:60, friends, 00:05:33.46\00:05:39.67 where Jesus is talking, John 14:60, 00:05:39.70\00:05:43.57 "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, 00:05:43.61\00:05:47.78 and the life. 00:05:47.81\00:05:49.14 No one comes to the Father except through Me." 00:05:49.18\00:05:53.52 So the Bible teaches that the only way 00:05:53.55\00:05:55.88 that you can be saved 00:05:55.92\00:05:57.65 and the only way that you can enjoy 00:05:57.69\00:05:59.95 life to the full is not through the hierarchy 00:05:59.99\00:06:04.46 but through the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:06:04.49\00:06:11.10 And Protestants believe this 00:06:11.13\00:06:12.57 and I'm proud to be a Protestant. 00:06:12.60\00:06:15.74 We believe that we don't need an earthly priest. 00:06:15.77\00:06:19.21 We do not believe 00:06:19.24\00:06:20.78 that we need to go and confess our sins to a priest 00:06:20.81\00:06:24.68 because we believe that Jesus is the way, 00:06:24.71\00:06:28.38 the truth, and the life. 00:06:28.42\00:06:30.32 Now I want you to come over here 00:06:30.35\00:06:32.09 in the Bible to the Book of Hebrews 4 00:06:32.12\00:06:35.62 over here in the New Testament, 00:06:35.66\00:06:37.43 and these texts of course have been used 00:06:37.46\00:06:40.13 over and over by our Protestant brothers and sisters. 00:06:40.16\00:06:44.30 Hebrews 4: 00:06:44.33\00:06:47.64 14 to 16, 00:06:47.67\00:06:52.77 here it is. 00:06:52.81\00:06:54.61 "Seeing then that we have a great High Priest 00:06:54.64\00:06:57.78 who has passed through the heavens, 00:06:57.81\00:06:59.38 Jesus the Son of God, 00:06:59.41\00:07:01.35 let us hold fast our confession. 00:07:01.38\00:07:04.72 For we do not have a High Priest 00:07:04.75\00:07:06.39 who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, 00:07:06.42\00:07:09.66 but was all points tempted as we are, 00:07:09.69\00:07:14.50 yet without sin. 00:07:14.53\00:07:16.63 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace 00:07:16.67\00:07:20.64 that we may obtain mercy 00:07:20.67\00:07:23.07 and find grace to help in time of need." 00:07:23.10\00:07:27.31 Because I'm a Protestant, because I believe the Bible, 00:07:27.34\00:07:30.75 I believe that I don't need to go through a priest. 00:07:30.78\00:07:34.48 The Bible tells me, 00:07:34.52\00:07:36.08 I can come boldly to God through Jesus Christ. 00:07:36.12\00:07:39.62 And the Bible says, not just come, 00:07:39.65\00:07:41.42 the Bible says, I can come. 00:07:41.46\00:07:43.22 What does it say, boldly with confidence. 00:07:43.26\00:07:46.80 I want you to come over the page 00:07:46.83\00:07:48.16 now to Hebrews 6:19 and 20, 00:07:48.20\00:07:52.23 Hebrews 6:19 and 20. 00:07:52.27\00:07:54.00 It says, "This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, 00:07:54.04\00:07:59.21 both sure and steadfast, 00:07:59.24\00:08:01.71 and which enters the Presence behind the veil, 00:08:01.74\00:08:06.08 where the forerunner has entered for us, 00:08:06.11\00:08:08.82 even Jesus, having become High Priest forever 00:08:08.85\00:08:14.96 according to the order of Melchizedek." 00:08:14.99\00:08:19.39 Now, when this doctrine got into the hearts of people 00:08:19.43\00:08:23.63 that you don't need an earthly priest, 00:08:23.67\00:08:26.74 and you don't need a pope in Rome, 00:08:26.77\00:08:31.27 it was a tremendous liberating influence. 00:08:31.31\00:08:36.31 I'm a child of God, 00:08:36.34\00:08:38.48 I don't have to confess my sins 00:08:38.51\00:08:40.18 to some other sinful human being. 00:08:40.22\00:08:43.05 The Bible says, 00:08:43.08\00:08:44.79 I can go right in to the very presence of God. 00:08:44.82\00:08:49.92 I was thinking about this the other night 00:08:49.96\00:08:51.86 as I was concentrating on what I was going to say today, 00:08:51.89\00:08:56.40 and I thought of Amazon and the mall. 00:08:56.43\00:09:02.00 Everybody in America used to go to the mall, 00:09:02.04\00:09:04.47 a lot of people still go to the mall, 00:09:04.51\00:09:06.94 but the mall is starting to lose out to Amazon. 00:09:06.98\00:09:10.78 You all know this. 00:09:10.81\00:09:12.25 This is where the shopping is going on. 00:09:12.28\00:09:14.15 You go to the mall to meet 00:09:14.18\00:09:16.22 and to greet but to Amazon to do business, you see? 00:09:16.25\00:09:21.72 You go to the mall 00:09:21.76\00:09:23.86 because you like the glitz and the glamour. 00:09:23.89\00:09:28.16 The miracles, the mystery, and the authority, 00:09:28.20\00:09:32.73 that's why you go to the mall. 00:09:32.77\00:09:34.10 You like the glitz and the glamour, 00:09:34.14\00:09:36.40 but if you want to do a good bargain. 00:09:36.44\00:09:41.48 A lot of people no longer go to the mall, 00:09:41.51\00:09:44.05 they go to Amazon because there is no middleman. 00:09:44.08\00:09:49.72 Now the Protestants and the Martin Luther, 00:09:49.75\00:09:52.32 I'm going back before Martin Luther, 00:09:52.35\00:09:54.86 they discovered that they 00:09:54.89\00:09:56.36 didn't have to go to the mall anymore to be saved. 00:09:56.39\00:10:00.10 They could go 00:10:00.13\00:10:01.46 straight to the Lord Jesus Christ 00:10:01.50\00:10:03.70 and there was no middleman. 00:10:03.73\00:10:08.00 So the mall is a little bit like the Vatican, 00:10:08.04\00:10:13.88 but Amazon is like Protestantism, 00:10:13.91\00:10:17.71 and it is based on the great truth 00:10:17.75\00:10:20.05 and I want you to learn these Latin words. 00:10:20.08\00:10:23.65 One of the great hindrances 00:10:23.69\00:10:25.09 to the advancement of knowledge and progress 00:10:25.12\00:10:28.49 is just old fashioned ignorance. 00:10:28.52\00:10:32.53 And the Protestants, 00:10:32.56\00:10:34.20 they glorified in these Latin words, 00:10:34.23\00:10:36.70 and the first one was Sola Christus. 00:10:36.73\00:10:41.80 Sola Christus, it simply means, 00:10:41.84\00:10:44.61 all I need is the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:10:44.64\00:10:49.44 And if all I need is the Lord Jesus Christ, 00:10:49.48\00:10:52.38 then I am a freeman and I am saved, 00:10:52.41\00:10:57.22 and I'm going home to glory. 00:10:57.25\00:11:00.36 Now just listen to what this 00:11:00.39\00:11:02.12 secular magazine says if you don't mind. 00:11:02.16\00:11:04.46 It says this, "At the heart of this Protestant faith were, 00:11:04.49\00:11:07.86 and are, three beliefs resting on the Latin word for "alone," 00:11:07.90\00:11:12.43 and just try to remember this stuff, folks. 00:11:12.47\00:11:15.44 "Sola fide, that people are saved by faith in Jesus alone, 00:11:15.47\00:11:20.84 not by anything they can do." 00:11:20.88\00:11:23.14 This is secular magazine. 00:11:23.18\00:11:26.21 "Sola gratia, that this faith is given by grace alone, 00:11:26.25\00:11:30.45 and cannot be earned. 00:11:30.49\00:11:32.95 And Sola scriptura, 00:11:32.99\00:11:36.59 that it is based on the authority of the Bible alone, 00:11:36.62\00:11:39.63 and not on the tradition or the church." 00:11:39.66\00:11:43.26 And I don't care what church it is, 00:11:43.30\00:11:45.67 our authority is the Word of God, 00:11:45.70\00:11:48.80 not the church, you see? 00:11:48.84\00:11:51.81 "In a way that complemented 00:11:51.84\00:11:53.24 the broader themes of the Renaissance, 00:11:53.27\00:11:55.04 Luther wanted Christians to go back to the 00:11:55.08\00:11:57.28 'pristine Gospel': The teachings of Jesus 00:11:57.31\00:12:00.18 and the apostles. 00:12:00.22\00:12:02.58 This return offered a new sort of freedom, 00:12:02.62\00:12:06.12 one centered on the individual, 00:12:06.15\00:12:08.46 which helped pave the way for modernity." 00:12:08.49\00:12:11.63 Now, this is quite astounding from a secular magazine. 00:12:11.66\00:12:16.46 "The separation of powers, toleration, 00:12:16.50\00:12:20.84 freedom of conscience, 00:12:20.87\00:12:23.17 these are all Protestant ideas." 00:12:23.20\00:12:28.51 You want to know why America became 00:12:28.54\00:12:32.08 the greatest nation in the world. 00:12:32.11\00:12:33.75 It is because America was founded 00:12:33.78\00:12:37.39 by Protestants who believed in Christ 00:12:37.42\00:12:41.86 and who believed that they could go to Amazon 00:12:41.89\00:12:44.53 and didn't have to go to the mall. 00:12:44.56\00:12:46.83 No, it's true. 00:12:46.86\00:12:48.20 Now who started the Protestant Church? 00:12:48.23\00:12:51.40 I want you think about that. 00:12:51.43\00:12:52.77 Who started this Protestant Church? 00:12:52.80\00:12:55.70 Lot of you folks are gonna say, 00:12:55.74\00:12:57.41 "It was that German theologian, 00:12:57.44\00:13:00.94 that German monk, priest, Martin Luther." 00:13:00.98\00:13:04.18 But I would suggest to you 00:13:04.21\00:13:06.41 that Martin Luther did not start the Protestant Church, 00:13:06.45\00:13:09.62 but the Protestant Church was started 00:13:09.65\00:13:11.62 by the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:13:11.65\00:13:14.62 Now, I'll prove it to you. 00:13:14.66\00:13:16.62 Come over here with me to Matthew 16:12 and onwards. 00:13:16.66\00:13:21.30 Matthew 16 and versus onwards 00:13:21.33\00:13:27.44 in the Bible where it talks about 00:13:27.47\00:13:29.30 the foundation of the church. 00:13:29.34\00:13:32.84 "Then they understood that He did not tell them 00:13:32.87\00:13:35.38 to beware of the leaven of bread, 00:13:35.41\00:13:38.18 but of the doctrine of the Pharisees 00:13:38.21\00:13:40.62 and the Sadducees." 00:13:40.65\00:13:42.62 Jesus said, beware of bad teaching. 00:13:42.65\00:13:46.86 "When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, 00:13:46.89\00:13:50.63 He asked His disciples, saying, 00:13:50.66\00:13:52.76 'Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?' 00:13:52.79\00:13:56.26 So they said, 'Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, 00:13:56.30\00:14:01.34 and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.' 00:14:01.37\00:14:06.27 He said to them, 'But who do you say that I am?' 00:14:06.31\00:14:10.01 Simon Peter answered and said," never forget it, 00:14:10.05\00:14:14.32 "'You are the Christ, 00:14:14.35\00:14:18.99 the Son of the living God.' 00:14:19.02\00:14:22.32 Jesus answered and said to him, 00:14:22.36\00:14:24.16 'Blessed are you Simon Bar-Jonah," 00:14:24.19\00:14:27.93 Peter, "for flesh and blood is not revealed this to you, 00:14:27.96\00:14:32.13 but My Father who is in heaven. 00:14:32.17\00:14:35.60 And I also say to you that you are Peter, 00:14:35.64\00:14:41.51 and on this rock I will build My church, 00:14:41.54\00:14:45.91 and gates of Hell or Hades shall not prevail against it. 00:14:45.95\00:14:51.79 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, 00:14:51.82\00:14:55.49 and whatever you bind now on earth 00:14:55.52\00:14:56.89 will be bound in heaven, 00:14:56.93\00:14:58.39 whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." 00:14:58.43\00:15:02.23 It is very plain here that the true church 00:15:02.26\00:15:04.57 is built upon the rock. 00:15:04.60\00:15:08.34 Our beloved Roman Catholic friends say 00:15:08.37\00:15:11.54 that Peter is the rock. 00:15:11.57\00:15:15.48 If this is so, we are all lost. 00:15:15.51\00:15:22.12 We are all lost if the church is built upon 00:15:22.15\00:15:25.42 a sinful human being. 00:15:25.45\00:15:28.52 Peter was a stone. 00:15:28.56\00:15:32.33 At the most he was a little rock. 00:15:32.36\00:15:35.66 Have you heard the expression, "He petered out"? 00:15:35.70\00:15:39.33 Have you heard that expression, he petered out? 00:15:39.37\00:15:44.57 I would not want to build a church upon a man 00:15:44.61\00:15:47.84 who had the reputation for petering out. 00:15:47.88\00:15:53.42 But the Bible teaches very plainly 00:15:53.45\00:15:55.95 that the true church was never built upon Peter 00:15:55.98\00:15:59.85 who is now dead and buried and asleep, 00:15:59.89\00:16:04.39 but the true church was built upon the Rock of Ages 00:16:04.43\00:16:08.73 who is the Lord Jesus Christ and I will prove it to you, 00:16:08.76\00:16:12.67 I will prove it to you. 00:16:12.70\00:16:14.37 We will come to 1 Corinthians 10:4, 00:16:14.40\00:16:18.27 dear hearts and gentle people. 00:16:18.31\00:16:21.41 1 Corinthians 10:4 says, 00:16:21.44\00:16:26.21 "And all drank that same spiritual drink. 00:16:26.25\00:16:30.19 For they drank of that spiritual Rock 00:16:30.22\00:16:32.45 that followed them," what does it say? 00:16:32.49\00:16:34.89 "That..." What does it say? 00:16:34.92\00:16:36.76 "That Rock was Christ." 00:16:36.79\00:16:40.40 How plain can it get? 00:16:40.43\00:16:42.76 The Bible says that rock was Peter, 00:16:42.80\00:16:46.84 no, that Rock was Christ. 00:16:46.87\00:16:50.37 And don't get upset with me 00:16:50.41\00:16:52.37 because I'm reading from the Bible. 00:16:52.41\00:16:54.68 1 Corinthians 3:11 says, 00:16:54.71\00:17:00.55 "For no other foundation can anyone lay 00:17:00.58\00:17:03.59 than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ." 00:17:03.62\00:17:07.86 The Bible says there is no other foundation 00:17:07.89\00:17:10.33 for the church than the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:17:10.36\00:17:14.53 God has laid the foundation. 00:17:14.56\00:17:17.00 The church was not built upon Peter, 00:17:17.03\00:17:19.53 it was built upon Christ the Rock. 00:17:19.57\00:17:22.60 Now come back with me to the Old Testament 00:17:22.64\00:17:24.57 to the Book of Deuteronomy 32:3 and 4, 00:17:24.61\00:17:29.88 Deuteronomy 32: 00:17:29.91\00:17:32.51 3 and 4. 00:17:32.55\00:17:37.92 Deuteronomy 32:3 and 4, the Bible says, 00:17:37.95\00:17:41.62 "He is the Rock, His work is perfect. 00:17:41.66\00:17:46.26 For all his ways are justice, 00:17:46.29\00:17:48.50 A God of truth and without injustice, 00:17:48.53\00:17:51.87 righteous and upright is He." 00:17:51.90\00:17:54.77 The Bible says that we have our Rock, 00:17:54.80\00:17:59.44 and the Bible says that Rock is a God of truth 00:17:59.47\00:18:03.81 and without injustice. 00:18:03.85\00:18:06.95 And so the Protestant Church or the true Christian Church 00:18:06.98\00:18:11.25 was never built upon a man. 00:18:11.29\00:18:13.92 Man's church was built upon a man, 00:18:13.96\00:18:16.46 but God's church 00:18:16.49\00:18:17.83 was built upon the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:18:17.86\00:18:22.00 And so this is why the Protestant reformers 00:18:22.03\00:18:24.93 preached not only Sola scriptura 00:18:24.97\00:18:28.17 but they preached Sola Christus. 00:18:28.20\00:18:32.37 Christ alone, Christ alone, 00:18:32.41\00:18:35.28 Christ our High Priest and this has 00:18:35.31\00:18:38.21 a tremendous liberating influence upon the soul. 00:18:38.25\00:18:43.28 Now listen, but after the apostles, 00:18:43.32\00:18:47.09 they came a falling away in the Christian church. 00:18:47.12\00:18:52.03 Please turn to 2 Thessalonians 2:3 and 4, 00:18:52.06\00:18:56.40 2 Thessalonians 2:3 and 4, the Bible says, 00:18:56.43\00:19:02.07 "That no one deceive you by any means, 00:19:02.10\00:19:04.21 for that Day will not come 00:19:04.24\00:19:05.94 unless the falling away comes first," 00:19:05.97\00:19:08.04 the falling away the Great Apostasy. 00:19:08.08\00:19:10.65 "And the man of sin is revealed, 00:19:10.68\00:19:12.31 the son of perdition, 00:19:12.35\00:19:13.75 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God 00:19:13.78\00:19:18.25 or that is worshiped, 00:19:18.29\00:19:19.75 so that he sits as God in the temple of God, 00:19:19.79\00:19:22.76 showing himself that he is God." 00:19:22.79\00:19:25.83 The Bible prophet Paul 00:19:25.86\00:19:29.63 said that after his departure, 00:19:29.66\00:19:33.30 and the departure of the Holy Apostles, 00:19:33.34\00:19:37.64 they would come falling away 00:19:37.67\00:19:41.31 from the truth of God. 00:19:41.34\00:19:46.18 And he specifically said that this would give birth 00:19:46.21\00:19:51.82 or give rise to a man of sin who sat in the Church of God. 00:19:51.85\00:19:58.43 Now, let me... 00:20:03.90\00:20:06.60 tell you some history. 00:20:06.63\00:20:11.24 After the apostles, 00:20:11.27\00:20:14.04 the truth was lost and the light went out. 00:20:14.08\00:20:20.15 Not only did the church conquer Rome, 00:20:20.18\00:20:25.42 but Rome conquered the church. 00:20:25.45\00:20:30.23 And pagan Roman teachings invaded the church, 00:20:30.26\00:20:36.16 that is why she is called 00:20:36.20\00:20:39.90 the Roman church, 00:20:39.93\00:20:43.54 because her teachings came from Rome. 00:20:43.57\00:20:50.08 You didn't know that. 00:20:50.11\00:20:53.92 I've written down 25 distinct heresies 00:20:53.95\00:20:58.35 that invaded the church, 00:20:58.39\00:21:00.72 Roman teachings, pagan teachings. 00:21:00.76\00:21:04.16 Number one, purgatory. 00:21:04.19\00:21:07.26 Martin Luther said, 00:21:07.30\00:21:09.86 "It is the doctrine of the devil 00:21:09.90\00:21:14.30 because the saints are unconscious, 00:21:14.34\00:21:18.71 so how can the saints 00:21:18.74\00:21:21.04 be tormented after their death?" 00:21:21.08\00:21:26.68 And you won't read a purgatory in the Bible, it is a heresy. 00:21:26.72\00:21:31.12 Indulgences, whereby a person 00:21:31.15\00:21:34.92 could be relieved of the temporal punishment 00:21:34.96\00:21:37.76 for his sins by an offering to the church. 00:21:37.79\00:21:41.36 Relics, the keeping of the bones of the saints, 00:21:41.40\00:21:46.23 even the bones of the apostles 00:21:46.27\00:21:49.80 and portions of the cross of Christ 00:21:49.84\00:21:52.34 all pious frauds. 00:21:52.37\00:21:56.78 The sprinkling of babies, 00:21:56.81\00:21:58.81 when the Bible speaks about the immersion of adults. 00:21:58.85\00:22:04.79 "Sun"-day keeping the day of the sun 00:22:04.82\00:22:08.56 honored by Rome. 00:22:08.59\00:22:12.59 The doctrine of eternal torment 00:22:12.63\00:22:15.10 that God will burn people for trillions of years 00:22:15.13\00:22:18.57 which made God the terrorist in chief. 00:22:18.60\00:22:24.37 The immortality of the soul 00:22:24.41\00:22:26.57 that Martin Luther rejected 00:22:26.61\00:22:29.68 an earthly priesthood. 00:22:29.71\00:22:33.68 Whereby people were taught to go and confess their sins 00:22:33.72\00:22:37.92 to earthly human beings 00:22:37.95\00:22:40.02 whose lives are often more stained and sinned than this. 00:22:40.06\00:22:45.03 The confessional, celibacy, 00:22:45.06\00:22:49.23 and of course Peter was a married man 00:22:49.26\00:22:51.23 and they tell me, he was the first pope 00:22:51.27\00:22:53.20 which of course is a fraud. 00:22:53.23\00:22:56.14 Papal infallibility that when the Holy Father 00:22:56.17\00:23:00.18 spoke in His official capacity, 00:23:00.21\00:23:02.91 His utterances were as the voice of God, 00:23:02.94\00:23:06.25 still believe today. 00:23:06.28\00:23:07.62 Tradition instead of the word salvation by good works, 00:23:07.65\00:23:13.12 done by the aid of the Holy Spirit. 00:23:13.15\00:23:16.22 The intercession of the dead saints 00:23:16.26\00:23:18.96 that the dead saints can intercede for us. 00:23:18.99\00:23:21.60 The veneration of Mary, the Mother of God. 00:23:21.63\00:23:26.17 The veneration of images, the persecution of heretics, 00:23:26.20\00:23:32.11 tens of millions put to death by the church. 00:23:32.14\00:23:36.48 The church is the interpreter of the Word of God. 00:23:36.51\00:23:40.22 You cannot understand it 00:23:40.25\00:23:41.58 because you're a lay person and you are too dumb. 00:23:41.62\00:23:43.89 The Union of Church and State 00:23:47.02\00:23:49.42 rule the world for a thousand years 00:23:49.46\00:23:51.83 and caused the great Dark Ages. 00:23:51.86\00:23:56.13 The Immaculate Conception, which means that Mary's mother 00:23:56.16\00:24:02.54 was conceived immaculately 00:24:02.57\00:24:06.98 and purged of all original sin. 00:24:07.01\00:24:10.11 Praise for the dead that you can pray for dead people 00:24:10.15\00:24:14.72 to get their souls out of purgatory. 00:24:14.75\00:24:17.52 The mass, we buy the bread and the wine 00:24:17.55\00:24:22.19 became the actual body and the blood of Christ 00:24:22.22\00:24:27.26 and the priest was given the awesome power 00:24:27.30\00:24:31.20 to offer up God upon the altar. 00:24:31.23\00:24:35.84 What a blasphemy? 00:24:35.87\00:24:39.91 Monasteries where every type of sin was committed. 00:24:39.94\00:24:45.91 Blind obedience, and the coming of a new "Pontifex Maximus." 00:24:45.95\00:24:51.29 Now I'm afraid to say 00:24:51.32\00:24:54.42 most people don't even know these things, 00:24:54.46\00:24:57.46 but the official title of the Caesar was Caesar, 00:24:57.49\00:25:01.60 he's divine, Augustus, Pontifex Maximus, 00:25:01.63\00:25:06.67 that is the name of the Caesar. 00:25:06.70\00:25:09.00 And then you come to the name 00:25:09.04\00:25:10.64 of the leader of the church Sixtus 00:25:10.67\00:25:14.51 or the present Pope Pontifex Maximus. 00:25:14.54\00:25:19.41 And in all they are in inscriptions 00:25:19.45\00:25:21.28 like Gregory, Pontifex Maximus, 00:25:21.32\00:25:25.72 and so after the apostles had been laid to rest, 00:25:25.75\00:25:30.19 there came a falling away 00:25:30.23\00:25:32.73 and the church went into the blackness of the Dark Ages. 00:25:32.76\00:25:37.07 This spiritual system of deception 00:25:37.10\00:25:42.40 plunged the world into darkness 00:25:42.44\00:25:45.14 that historians call the Dark Ages. 00:25:45.17\00:25:49.74 And that is why the great British scholar Dr. Wiley said, 00:25:49.78\00:25:55.72 "The noonday of the papacy 00:25:55.75\00:26:00.46 was the midnight of the world, 00:26:00.49\00:26:04.89 hence the need for Protestantism." 00:26:04.93\00:26:09.40 More to come in just a moment, stay with us. 00:26:09.43\00:26:13.23 The antichrist is in the temple of God. 00:26:27.45\00:26:32.99 I read you the actual words 00:26:33.02\00:26:35.39 of the great Roman Catholic Church. 00:26:35.42\00:26:40.00 More than a billion people pray to the dead. 00:26:40.03\00:26:45.50 But the Bible talks very plainly about 00:26:45.53\00:26:47.57 good angels and bad angels.
