Hello, friend. I am John Carter. 00:00:01.36\00:00:04.07 I've just come back from Russia. 00:00:04.10\00:00:06.60 It was my 43rd visit to that land. 00:00:06.63\00:00:11.01 I'm gonna tell you today about Putin's Russia. 00:00:11.04\00:00:14.91 And the amazing things I've found today 00:00:14.94\00:00:18.05 happening in Russia, 00:00:18.08\00:00:19.61 because I saw the power of God. 00:00:19.65\00:00:22.88 Welcome today to the Carter Report 00:00:22.92\00:00:25.22 and The Russian Experience. 00:00:25.25\00:00:28.52 Hello, friend, I am John Carter here in Russia. 00:00:31.36\00:00:35.63 It is a cold day. 00:00:35.66\00:00:38.37 This is my 43rd visit to the old lands 00:00:38.40\00:00:42.54 of the Soviet Union. 00:00:42.57\00:00:44.77 Thank God, that evil empire is gone. 00:00:44.81\00:00:49.24 And I am here today, because God has called me 00:00:49.28\00:00:51.41 to Russia and Ukraine, 00:00:51.45\00:00:53.95 to preach the everlasting gospel 00:00:53.98\00:00:56.65 of our Lord, Jesus Christ. 00:00:56.69\00:00:58.92 It's great to be back. 00:00:58.95\00:01:01.66 I first came here in the year 1971, 00:01:01.69\00:01:06.06 and I came as a boy, 00:01:06.09\00:01:08.10 and I came as a tourist just to have a look. 00:01:08.13\00:01:12.63 I returned 20 years later in the year 1992, 1991, 00:01:12.67\00:01:19.07 not as a tourist but as an evangelist. 00:01:19.11\00:01:23.65 And I came to the great city of Moscow. 00:01:23.68\00:01:26.95 We conducted the first ever evangelist campaign by 00:01:26.98\00:01:31.85 a foreigner in the old Soviet Union. 00:01:31.89\00:01:35.46 We held the meetings in the palace of culture, 00:01:35.49\00:01:38.69 just down the road from the Kremlin. 00:01:38.73\00:01:41.60 These were days of grace, and glory, 00:01:41.63\00:01:45.60 and mighty power. 00:01:45.63\00:01:48.14 The meeting started at 10 o'clock in the morning, 00:01:48.17\00:01:51.17 and they finished 10 o'clock at night, 00:01:51.21\00:01:53.84 with only time out 00:01:53.88\00:01:55.21 for a little bit of bread and water. 00:01:55.24\00:01:58.08 We had a tremendous choir but better still, 00:01:58.11\00:02:01.75 we had a tremendous audience. 00:02:01.78\00:02:04.79 I was talking to an audience basically of atheists, 00:02:04.82\00:02:08.79 communists with a few believers. 00:02:08.82\00:02:12.19 And when I made altar calls for Jesus, 00:02:12.23\00:02:15.56 the people would break down and weep. 00:02:15.60\00:02:18.33 They were hearing the gospel of Christ 00:02:18.37\00:02:21.57 for the first time, 00:02:21.60\00:02:23.17 and they were just filled with amazement. 00:02:23.20\00:02:26.57 I can never forget those days. 00:02:26.61\00:02:29.78 And then the next year, it was 1992, 00:02:29.81\00:02:35.98 I came here to Nizhny Novgorod 00:02:36.02\00:02:38.99 or the city which used to be called Gorky 00:02:39.02\00:02:42.89 after the famous Russian poet. 00:02:42.92\00:02:46.46 In faith, we hired the great Palace of Sports. 00:02:46.49\00:02:51.00 The old communist director said to me, 00:02:51.03\00:02:53.40 "Mr. Carter, this is going to be 00:02:53.44\00:02:56.07 a failure because no one is going to come." 00:02:56.10\00:03:00.48 He said, "We've taught the people here 00:03:00.51\00:03:02.44 not even to think about Him, He doesn't exist in our minds." 00:03:02.48\00:03:07.98 But when we open those meetings a few months later, 00:03:08.02\00:03:11.39 the crowds was so great 00:03:11.42\00:03:13.56 that that old director was almost killed 00:03:13.59\00:03:16.32 in the rush of people there. 00:03:16.36\00:03:18.36 It was amazing. 00:03:18.39\00:03:20.86 When I came down to the auditorium, 00:03:20.90\00:03:23.33 I couldn't get in my self. 00:03:23.37\00:03:25.70 The Russian army had to take me to the meetings. 00:03:25.73\00:03:29.37 The people broke down the doors, 00:03:29.40\00:03:32.27 they smashed the windows, 00:03:32.31\00:03:35.44 and we had tremendous opposition too, 00:03:35.48\00:03:37.61 days of grace, and glory, and opposition. 00:03:37.65\00:03:42.42 The great state church sent along ruffians, 00:03:42.45\00:03:45.05 and they had smoke bombs, and they had fire bombs, 00:03:45.09\00:03:48.66 and I was preaching with smoke bombs all around me 00:03:48.69\00:03:52.26 and our believers were putting out the fires. 00:03:52.29\00:03:56.20 We saw the power of God. 00:03:56.23\00:03:58.37 The place was filled with tens of thousands of atheists 00:03:58.40\00:04:02.90 and communists and unbelievers. 00:04:02.94\00:04:06.61 But I want you to know today, 00:04:06.64\00:04:08.31 listen to this. 00:04:08.34\00:04:09.81 The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God 00:04:09.84\00:04:13.85 unto salvation to everyone who believes. 00:04:13.88\00:04:17.69 That is why I am here today to preach that same gospel. 00:04:17.72\00:04:21.16 And when I preach the gospel back there, 00:04:21.19\00:04:23.76 we saw hundreds of thousands of people come, 00:04:23.79\00:04:27.20 come to Christ. 00:04:27.23\00:04:29.90 I want you to know this, I have seen the latter rain. 00:04:29.93\00:04:35.37 I have seen the mighty outpouring 00:04:35.40\00:04:38.27 of the spirit of God. 00:04:38.31\00:04:39.64 I've seen hundreds of thousands of atheists 00:04:39.67\00:04:44.31 and communists come to Christ. 00:04:44.35\00:04:47.72 This is my 43rd visit. 00:04:47.75\00:04:52.15 You say, "Why do you come? Why do you go there? 00:04:52.19\00:04:55.92 Is it because you like the climate?" 00:04:55.96\00:04:58.49 I come here my friend because of the need. 00:04:58.53\00:05:01.86 These people still have a tremendous need. 00:05:01.90\00:05:04.77 Please support our work here. 00:05:04.80\00:05:06.90 Write to me John Carter, PO Box 1900 Thousand Oaks, 00:05:06.94\00:05:11.47 California 91358. 00:05:11.51\00:05:13.64 In Australia, write to me at Terrigal, 00:05:13.68\00:05:17.68 in the name of Jesus, please support us 00:05:17.71\00:05:21.42 in this great work, amen. 00:05:21.45\00:05:24.29 Welcome to the Carter Report and the Russian Experience. 00:05:32.26\00:05:36.87 I'm privileged to have with me today my wife Beverley. 00:05:36.90\00:05:40.94 Beverley, I'm glad that you're with me today. 00:05:40.97\00:05:45.87 How many times, Beverley, have you been to Russia? 00:05:45.91\00:05:50.75 I've been over 20 times with you. 00:05:50.78\00:05:53.72 And some of my first impressions of course, 00:05:53.75\00:05:56.58 I was impressed at first that God should give us 00:05:56.62\00:05:59.49 this opportunity to go to the former Soviet Union 00:05:59.52\00:06:03.36 just as it as communism was falling back in the 90s, 91. 00:06:03.39\00:06:07.76 One of the greatest blessings of our lives together 00:06:07.80\00:06:11.50 when we went to Moscow. 00:06:11.53\00:06:14.10 Do you remember the year? 00:06:14.14\00:06:16.00 1991. 1991. 00:06:16.04\00:06:19.37 And there weren't any cars on the roads 00:06:19.41\00:06:21.11 and that was one of the things that impressed me, 00:06:21.14\00:06:23.75 no cars except some two or three small cars, 00:06:23.78\00:06:27.25 I forget the name. 00:06:27.28\00:06:28.62 I think there was a car call the Moskvitch. 00:06:28.65\00:06:31.39 That was it. 00:06:31.42\00:06:32.75 I think it was partially made out of wood. 00:06:32.79\00:06:34.49 Yes, they were very small. 00:06:34.52\00:06:37.23 And this was before the Volgas, 00:06:37.26\00:06:38.79 before they started making 00:06:38.83\00:06:40.16 the Volga which was a bigger car. 00:06:40.20\00:06:41.53 Yeah. 00:06:41.56\00:06:42.90 And also another impression was no food in the shops, 00:06:42.93\00:06:45.17 and of course what had happened 00:06:45.20\00:06:46.53 the Soviets had spent all their money 00:06:46.57\00:06:49.40 making weapons of war. 00:06:49.44\00:06:51.84 And so they had gone broke. Yes. 00:06:51.87\00:06:53.81 And you had people we saw them lined up 00:06:53.84\00:06:56.01 to get bread and cheese and that was something 00:06:56.04\00:06:59.45 and also another thing that impressed me Igle, 00:06:59.48\00:07:02.85 our translator took us to his home, 00:07:02.88\00:07:05.62 and in that time people couldn't choose where to live. 00:07:05.65\00:07:09.46 They were told to live in a certain small apartments, 00:07:09.49\00:07:13.80 the apartment, the one that we went to 00:07:13.83\00:07:15.90 was no bigger than this room. 00:07:15.93\00:07:17.27 Yes. 00:07:17.30\00:07:18.63 And there were three families living there. 00:07:18.67\00:07:20.44 Using the same toilet. 00:07:20.47\00:07:22.04 Well, that's right. 00:07:22.07\00:07:23.41 And they couldn't choose who they lived with. 00:07:23.44\00:07:24.77 No. 00:07:24.81\00:07:26.14 Certain people were just told to go there 00:07:26.17\00:07:28.24 and they had the kitchen were small, 00:07:28.28\00:07:29.74 you could only fit about two people in. 00:07:29.78\00:07:31.81 The bathroom, it could only fit one person in. 00:07:31.85\00:07:33.88 And then so, 00:07:33.92\00:07:35.25 they took turns cooking their foods and food. 00:07:35.28\00:07:38.32 And then, they would go into their bedroom 00:07:38.35\00:07:40.76 which was also their eating room. 00:07:40.79\00:07:43.39 And that's where they took us. 00:07:43.43\00:07:45.09 And you'll remember that in those days, 00:07:45.13\00:07:47.73 the doors, they weren't wooden, 00:07:47.76\00:07:49.53 they were curtains separating these rooms, 00:07:49.56\00:07:51.50 so no privacy. 00:07:51.53\00:07:52.87 Not a lot of privacy. Things have changed 00:07:52.90\00:07:55.90 Yes, I know. 00:07:55.94\00:07:57.27 Now, you've just come back from your 43rd visit there. 00:07:57.31\00:08:00.48 So what is changed? And what did you...? 00:08:00.51\00:08:02.78 What impressed you about in the time? 00:08:02.81\00:08:04.98 lots of motorcars, lots of great hotels, 00:08:05.01\00:08:08.32 lot of apparent prosperity. 00:08:08.35\00:08:11.42 But there are still 00:08:11.45\00:08:12.79 the aching void in the hearts of these people 00:08:12.82\00:08:17.06 because of atheism, and communism, 00:08:17.09\00:08:20.70 and false religious systems. 00:08:20.73\00:08:22.93 And so, that's why I've gone and that's why you've gone too. 00:08:22.96\00:08:27.04 Not because we agree, 00:08:27.07\00:08:29.27 necessarily with the Russian government. 00:08:29.30\00:08:32.24 But we want to reach these people for Christ. 00:08:32.27\00:08:36.88 The door opened. Yes. 00:08:36.91\00:08:38.68 And God led us to go through in there. 00:08:38.71\00:08:40.95 I'm so thrilled about that 00:08:40.98\00:08:42.32 and the things that happened there were just miraculous now. 00:08:42.35\00:08:45.59 Then you went down to Nizhny Novgorod. 00:08:45.62\00:08:47.69 Yes, I did. 00:08:47.72\00:08:49.06 That was one of our highlights of our work in Russia. 00:08:49.09\00:08:52.26 Beverley, '91, we ran the first ever evangelistic campaign 00:08:52.29\00:08:55.76 by foreigners in the old Soviet Union. 00:08:55.80\00:08:58.33 You know, hallelujah. 00:08:58.37\00:08:59.70 And that was Moscow. 00:08:59.73\00:09:01.07 Yeah, glory hallelujah. 00:09:01.10\00:09:02.44 Just down the road from the Kremlin. 00:09:02.47\00:09:04.01 And then, we book the Kremlin 00:09:04.04\00:09:05.57 but we never got to the Kremlin. 00:09:05.61\00:09:08.54 It got, it got taken from us, you can talk to Danny Shelton 00:09:08.58\00:09:11.91 about this because he knows the story. 00:09:11.95\00:09:14.12 He was our partner there. 00:09:14.15\00:09:15.98 And then the next year, we went to Gorky which is now 00:09:16.02\00:09:20.49 called Nizhny Novgorod. 00:09:20.52\00:09:23.73 And there we saw the mighty power of God. 00:09:23.76\00:09:28.20 I've just come back from Nizhny, Beverley. 00:09:28.23\00:09:31.73 And I'm almost overwhelmed by how God has blessed this work. 00:09:31.77\00:09:36.17 And '92. '92. 00:09:36.20\00:09:38.21 Just tell us again, what happened? 00:09:38.24\00:09:40.94 Well, since '92 my hair has turned white. 00:09:40.98\00:09:44.05 Your's seems to be doing okay. 00:09:44.08\00:09:45.68 My hair's too, but I get a little bit of help. 00:09:45.71\00:09:47.92 You don't want to confess those things on television. 00:09:47.95\00:09:50.19 But what you see here is what you get. 00:09:50.22\00:09:53.72 What happened in '92? 00:09:53.76\00:09:57.53 Oh, dear Lord, we saw the power of God. 00:09:57.56\00:10:00.90 It was miraculous. 00:10:00.93\00:10:02.26 We saw the greatest crowds attending evangelistic meetings 00:10:02.30\00:10:05.63 in the history of the Soviet Union. 00:10:05.67\00:10:08.57 Thousands, tens of thousands inside, 00:10:08.60\00:10:11.71 tens of thousands outside, 00:10:11.74\00:10:13.41 people breaking down the doors, 00:10:13.44\00:10:16.44 people breaking into the windows 00:10:16.48\00:10:19.51 and then the largest baptism in the history of Russia, 00:10:19.55\00:10:22.95 in the Volga River. 00:10:22.98\00:10:25.02 A church is established. 00:10:25.05\00:10:26.52 The people were looking for something, 00:10:26.55\00:10:27.89 because I think 00:10:27.92\00:10:29.26 what had happened as I look back now, 00:10:29.29\00:10:31.63 that communism at least structured their lives. 00:10:31.66\00:10:34.43 Yes, yes. 00:10:34.46\00:10:35.80 Even though it wasn't good, a good structure. 00:10:35.83\00:10:38.20 But once communism fell, 00:10:38.23\00:10:39.80 and though many of them were atheists, 00:10:39.83\00:10:42.10 they had no belief in God, they were left with nothing. 00:10:42.14\00:10:45.81 There was a terrible void there. 00:10:45.84\00:10:48.18 Let's, let me talk about this void. 00:10:48.21\00:10:49.81 Because somebody you talk to me last night, 00:10:49.84\00:10:52.98 Alexander Solzhenitsyn. 00:10:53.01\00:10:55.02 He spoke about the void caused by atheism. 00:10:55.05\00:10:58.45 Somebody said, 00:10:58.49\00:10:59.82 Stalin ripped the heart out of the Russian people. 00:10:59.85\00:11:03.56 Atheism, what a curse it was. 00:11:03.59\00:11:06.36 Tens of millions of people murdered 00:11:06.39\00:11:09.63 in the name of communism, 00:11:09.66\00:11:11.73 and in the in the name of atheism. 00:11:11.77\00:11:15.10 And when we went there, there was this tremendous void. 00:11:15.14\00:11:19.77 People were so hungry for God. 00:11:19.81\00:11:23.18 And I was thrilled because as you well know 00:11:23.21\00:11:26.58 I used to stand behind the curtain... 00:11:26.61\00:11:27.95 You were there, yes. 00:11:27.98\00:11:29.32 Behind the curtain praying right through. 00:11:29.35\00:11:30.69 We head out the groups praying around the hall too. 00:11:30.72\00:11:33.69 But, that they would come in 00:11:33.72\00:11:35.92 and their eyes was so full of hopelessness 00:11:35.96\00:11:38.69 Yes. They look so sad, but then... 00:11:38.73\00:11:40.73 Yes, depressed 00:11:40.76\00:11:42.10 With the translator you opened up the word of God 00:11:42.13\00:11:44.17 and you gave them evidence from archaeology 00:11:44.20\00:11:46.57 to believe the Bible. 00:11:46.60\00:11:48.57 And then from then you could tell them, 00:11:48.60\00:11:50.41 "Well, there is a God." Yes. 00:11:50.44\00:11:52.81 "There is the God of the Bible", 00:11:52.84\00:11:54.18 and that gave them hope 00:11:54.21\00:11:55.54 and you could say their faces change. 00:11:55.58\00:11:56.91 Beverley, we saw Pentecost, 00:11:56.95\00:11:58.68 people say you know, 00:11:58.71\00:12:00.05 and people say, well, 00:12:00.08\00:12:01.62 the latter rain is way down in the future. 00:12:01.65\00:12:04.29 We saw, glory be to God the latter rain. 00:12:04.32\00:12:07.32 We saw more than 00:12:07.36\00:12:08.69 two and a half thousand atheists 00:12:08.72\00:12:11.49 and communists and members of the KGB walk out into 00:12:11.53\00:12:15.66 the freezing waters of the Volga River 00:12:15.70\00:12:18.43 and get baptized. 00:12:18.47\00:12:20.07 And, I've just come back 00:12:20.10\00:12:22.94 from greeting some of these new believers. 00:12:22.97\00:12:26.01 Now, old believers. 00:12:26.04\00:12:28.11 Yeah, and they're still faithful, 00:12:28.14\00:12:30.08 the majority of them are still faithful. 00:12:30.11\00:12:32.71 Went to the Christian Cultural Center this, 00:12:32.75\00:12:36.02 the largest Protestant building in Russia. 00:12:36.05\00:12:41.59 It's amazing, I spoke there to our church 00:12:41.62\00:12:44.86 that was packed to the doors. 00:12:44.89\00:12:47.60 I saw young people playing violins, 00:12:47.63\00:12:51.63 wonderful singing. 00:12:51.67\00:12:53.00 They're great musicians. 00:12:53.03\00:12:54.37 One of the best. Just, just touches my heart. 00:12:54.40\00:12:58.21 I saw Julia, 00:12:58.24\00:12:59.57 who's in charge of the 3ABN ministry there. 00:12:59.61\00:13:03.21 This last year she's lost her brother, murdered, 00:13:03.24\00:13:07.35 Boris Nemtsov, our friend. 00:13:07.38\00:13:09.75 Yes, yes, we knew him. 00:13:09.78\00:13:11.19 My friend, I knew him. 00:13:11.22\00:13:13.76 Then she lost her husband. He was drowned. 00:13:13.79\00:13:16.76 And when I got over there, 00:13:16.79\00:13:18.13 her mother had just broken her hip. 00:13:18.16\00:13:21.23 And Julia is taking care of her. 00:13:21.26\00:13:24.40 And so we meet these people, who are saints, 00:13:24.43\00:13:28.10 who are standing firm for God in spite of hardship. 00:13:28.14\00:13:32.87 Beverley, the church has been through a time of trouble 00:13:32.91\00:13:36.61 in Nizhny Novgorod. 00:13:36.64\00:13:38.95 And this left them stronger for that. 00:13:38.98\00:13:40.88 There was a man who professed to be a member of our church. 00:13:40.92\00:13:44.19 And he murdered his wife and all of his children 00:13:44.22\00:13:48.42 and the government moved in 00:13:48.46\00:13:49.86 and our churches have been under siege. 00:13:49.89\00:13:52.16 That was just a few months ago, wasn't it? 00:13:52.19\00:13:53.63 Yes, Julia sent me a message she said, 00:13:53.66\00:13:55.96 "Don't come. It may be too dangerous." 00:13:56.00\00:13:59.83 But God put his hand over his church. 00:13:59.87\00:14:02.44 That church is survived 00:14:02.47\00:14:04.74 the people of God need to realize 00:14:04.77\00:14:07.58 this is no time to sound the retreat, 00:14:07.61\00:14:11.71 and forsake as suffering Russian brothers and sisters. 00:14:11.75\00:14:15.85 Just because we don't like the booten government. 00:14:15.88\00:14:17.95 That's right, and not to be feeble 00:14:17.99\00:14:19.52 and not know it is the novel says, 00:14:19.55\00:14:21.86 "Not to fight in times of trouble." 00:14:21.89\00:14:24.49 Now, in used in Novgorod, 00:14:24.53\00:14:26.80 that was where I first started my orphanage work. 00:14:26.83\00:14:29.60 Yes. 00:14:29.63\00:14:30.97 I felt impressed at the time 00:14:31.00\00:14:32.60 as you know the Book of James I think it is says, 00:14:32.63\00:14:35.54 "A true and pure really is just a vision 00:14:35.57\00:14:37.84 the orphans and widows widowers in their pristine and flexion", 00:14:37.87\00:14:42.94 and I just felt impressed that, 00:14:42.98\00:14:46.58 to do something practical for the people because, 00:14:46.61\00:14:48.72 I didn't want them to think well, 00:14:48.75\00:14:50.25 "Okay, you're here just to preach us. 00:14:50.29\00:14:52.55 You're also here to help." Yes 00:14:52.59\00:14:54.69 And that, and also because 00:14:54.72\00:14:56.12 we love children. 00:14:56.16\00:14:57.66 So, that's where I began the orphanage work and, 00:14:57.69\00:15:00.50 and at that time I also visited a children's hospital. 00:15:00.53\00:15:04.00 And I noticed that they had nothing. 00:15:04.03\00:15:06.27 If you went into hospital, 00:15:06.30\00:15:07.97 you had to take your own bathing, 00:15:08.00\00:15:09.64 you had to go and buy your own medication 00:15:09.67\00:15:11.97 because the hospitals have you nothing. 00:15:12.01\00:15:13.34 Nothing. 00:15:13.38\00:15:14.71 Because as we said before. 00:15:14.74\00:15:16.08 The footage of atheism 00:15:16.11\00:15:17.45 All the money had gone to the building weapons, 00:15:17.48\00:15:19.35 of destruction. 00:15:19.38\00:15:20.72 Instead of helping the people 00:15:20.75\00:15:22.65 And so with us at that time we had two, 00:15:22.68\00:15:25.19 German friends, who were from at church 00:15:25.22\00:15:27.42 back here in America they went over with us. 00:15:27.46\00:15:29.96 And they still had relatives in Germany. 00:15:29.99\00:15:32.76 And so what we did, we got some money together 00:15:32.79\00:15:35.76 and our friends in Germany. 00:15:35.80\00:15:37.67 There able to buy by ten tons of medication, 00:15:37.70\00:15:40.57 and medical supplies. 00:15:40.60\00:15:42.20 And they brought it over on a big semi truck. 00:15:42.24\00:15:43.81 And glory be to God. 00:15:43.84\00:15:45.17 And we just thank God, we thank our supporters, 00:15:45.21\00:15:47.51 and for all those people that helped us to do that. 00:15:47.54\00:15:50.55 And I know that did make an impression 00:15:50.58\00:15:52.68 on the people to say well, 00:15:52.71\00:15:54.52 "These Christians they're not just here to preach 00:15:54.55\00:15:57.12 that they're also here to help us." 00:15:57.15\00:15:59.05 And we'll be back, after this special message. 00:15:59.09\00:16:03.46 Hello friend, were baptized 00:16:39.09\00:16:44.57 into Jesus Christ. 00:16:44.60\00:16:47.44 The need here has not lessen 00:16:47.47\00:16:50.31 the people are crying out for God. 00:16:50.34\00:16:53.51 I'm asking you today in the name of Jesus. 00:16:53.54\00:16:58.15 Please support us in the preaching 00:16:58.18\00:17:01.02 of the gospel of Christ to the Russian people. 00:17:01.05\00:17:05.29 Please visit. 00:18:28.24\00:18:31.31 You've been there more than more 20 times. 00:18:31.34\00:18:34.11 And one of the places, 00:18:34.14\00:18:35.48 I've visited is a place that you know all about 00:18:35.51\00:18:38.25 Dzerzhinsk. 00:18:38.28\00:18:39.61 Dzerzhinsk. 00:18:39.65\00:18:40.98 Yeah, very polluted city tell us about that. 00:18:41.02\00:18:43.39 Yeah Dzerzhinsk polluted, 00:18:43.42\00:18:45.85 it used to be the pollution capital 00:18:45.89\00:18:49.72 for the old Soviet empire. 00:18:49.76\00:18:51.73 Is where they made their hellish chemicals. 00:18:51.76\00:18:55.36 And when you go to Dzerzhinsk You see there the, 00:18:55.40\00:18:59.33 the disease, the cancer and so forth among the people. 00:18:59.37\00:19:03.77 As you know by the grace of God 00:19:03.81\00:19:05.71 we built a church in Dzerzhinsk 00:19:05.74\00:19:09.81 God has used the Carter report to build churches 00:19:09.84\00:19:12.01 throughout the old Soviet Union. 00:19:12.05\00:19:14.42 We built a church there. 00:19:14.45\00:19:16.42 And all day every day 00:19:16.45\00:19:17.79 I wish you had been there with me 00:19:17.82\00:19:19.45 this time to see the faces of the people 00:19:19.49\00:19:22.22 to hear the music. 00:19:22.26\00:19:24.13 The church was founded 25 years ago, 00:19:24.16\00:19:27.33 it's still standing strong thank you Jesus. 00:19:27.36\00:19:31.07 Yes, praise the Lord 00:19:31.10\00:19:32.43 To the glory of God. 00:19:32.47\00:19:33.80 Yes, that's wonderful because, and talking about pollution 00:19:33.84\00:19:36.77 there's so many cities on to in the former Soviet Union. 00:19:36.81\00:19:40.38 Where Nuclear dumps where you know 00:19:40.41\00:19:42.68 they were just dumped. 00:19:42.71\00:19:44.21 And so many cities there, 00:19:44.25\00:19:45.58 so many people sick as you said, 00:19:45.61\00:19:47.82 with cancer and other terrible diseases. 00:19:47.85\00:19:50.29 And I want to say to the people watching this telecast. 00:19:50.32\00:19:54.29 Don't think, what you believe 00:19:54.32\00:19:56.32 doesn't affect the way you live. 00:19:56.36\00:19:58.89 Easy atheism is one the greatest curses 00:19:58.93\00:20:01.86 in the history of the world. 00:20:01.90\00:20:04.73 It almost destroyed the hearts, and the souls, 00:20:04.77\00:20:08.77 and the bodies of the Russian people. 00:20:08.80\00:20:11.54 Beverley we're going to talk 00:20:11.57\00:20:13.21 in the next part of our program. 00:20:13.24\00:20:15.81 About your noble, 00:20:15.84\00:20:17.18 we're gonna leave that to the talk on Ukraine. 00:20:17.21\00:20:20.62 But when I went to Dzerzhinsk, 00:20:20.65\00:20:21.98 I was so glad to meet with their people; 00:20:22.02\00:20:24.52 their love almost just followed me up. 00:20:24.55\00:20:27.12 But my heart goes out to them, 00:20:27.16\00:20:28.66 because of the terrible suffering 00:20:28.69\00:20:31.06 and their great needs there. 00:20:31.09\00:20:32.63 Could you tell us about some of the needs? 00:20:32.66\00:20:36.50 Beverley, I will try 00:20:36.53\00:20:39.40 I'm sure there are so many but. 00:20:39.43\00:20:41.97 I think of the young people. 00:20:42.00\00:20:45.87 Some of the most beautiful young people, 00:20:45.91\00:20:48.04 you'll find anywhere in the world. 00:20:48.08\00:20:50.91 But they need help, 00:20:50.95\00:20:52.28 we're thinking by the grace of God 00:20:52.31\00:20:54.02 if we can raise the money. 00:20:54.05\00:20:55.45 Are putting on a, I use Congress in Russia. 00:20:55.48\00:20:59.82 And going there and putting on meetings, 00:20:59.85\00:21:03.19 and winning young people, not only old people 00:21:03.22\00:21:06.56 but we're going to have a concentrated effort 00:21:06.59\00:21:10.00 to reach young people for Christ. 00:21:10.03\00:21:12.97 Because in Russia, 00:21:13.00\00:21:14.34 it's been relatively easy to get the babushka, 00:21:14.37\00:21:17.64 some of the old people. 00:21:17.67\00:21:19.37 But the young people and own Christian young people. 00:21:19.41\00:21:23.98 They desperately need help at this time. 00:21:24.01\00:21:27.02 By the grace of God we want to go back, 00:21:27.05\00:21:29.18 and work especially for our young people. 00:21:29.22\00:21:31.99 We must do that, by God's great. 00:21:32.02\00:21:34.36 We've got to raise the money Beverley. 00:21:34.39\00:21:36.26 And you know, 00:21:36.29\00:21:37.79 I'm just a no pastor with his wife. 00:21:37.83\00:21:42.16 You called me old too, but I guess I' am. 00:21:42.20\00:21:43.53 No, no, no I' am just an old pastor 00:21:43.57\00:21:45.57 with his young wife. 00:21:45.60\00:21:47.04 But raising the money is not easy. 00:21:47.07\00:21:51.54 We don't get any support of course, 00:21:51.57\00:21:53.41 from the organization. 00:21:53.44\00:21:56.14 But thank God, we get support from God. 00:21:56.18\00:21:58.01 That's right. 00:21:58.05\00:21:59.38 And God's people. 00:21:59.41\00:22:00.98 And usually, we've always found that 00:22:01.02\00:22:02.92 when people hear of the need, or see the need. 00:22:02.95\00:22:05.99 They come to our help. 00:22:06.02\00:22:07.86 And I'm sure that will happen again. 00:22:07.89\00:22:10.99 Can I ask you a question. 00:22:11.03\00:22:12.36 Yeah, 00:22:12.39\00:22:13.73 In the last segment, you spoke about the orphans. 00:22:13.76\00:22:17.80 Now in a program on Ukraine, 00:22:17.83\00:22:19.63 that's going to follow this program. 00:22:19.67\00:22:21.30 We're going to talk about the children of Chernobyl. 00:22:21.34\00:22:26.47 Do you remember when we went on the Trans-Siberian Express. 00:22:26.51\00:22:30.75 Yes, I'll never forget it. 00:22:30.78\00:22:32.25 You know, we went from Moscow to Vladivostok 00:22:32.28\00:22:34.78 11 time zones. 00:22:34.82\00:22:36.18 Eight days on the train. And no shell 00:22:36.22\00:22:40.99 Just a little thing to wash a face in. 00:22:41.02\00:22:43.73 Do you remember the children in Siberia? 00:22:43.76\00:22:46.96 Who came to the train starving? 00:22:47.00\00:22:49.60 Yes, I remember that. 00:22:49.63\00:22:50.97 Can you tell me about that. 00:22:51.00\00:22:52.43 Well, when we stop there. 00:22:52.47\00:22:54.04 Like we stopped at every station along the way. 00:22:54.07\00:22:56.67 At any time of the day and night. 00:22:56.71\00:22:58.04 Yeah, Two O'clock, Four O' clock in the morning. 00:22:58.07\00:23:00.28 These children were there and they were well, 00:23:00.31\00:23:03.78 you know that every dirty, grubby, 00:23:03.81\00:23:05.61 little children God bless them. 00:23:05.65\00:23:07.72 And, the lady in our carriage told us. 00:23:07.75\00:23:10.95 A Russian lady said, 00:23:10.99\00:23:12.42 "That, every time a trying stops. They come. 00:23:12.45\00:23:15.86 Because and number one, 00:23:15.89\00:23:17.73 they get the warmth of the train. 00:23:17.76\00:23:20.10 And then people give them bread and give them cheese 00:23:20.13\00:23:22.66 or any food that they might have left over." 00:23:22.70\00:23:25.37 And so we had some food left and we gave it to them. 00:23:25.40\00:23:29.54 But that was sad, because 00:23:29.57\00:23:31.61 Do you remember, how cold it was? 00:23:31.64\00:23:33.07 It was freezing, it with freezing 00:23:33.11\00:23:35.44 I wish it had been freezing 00:23:35.48\00:23:36.81 it was 30 or 40 degrees below freezing 00:23:36.85\00:23:39.21 Yeah, yeah. 00:23:39.25\00:23:40.65 But they say, "Children are hungry every day, 00:23:40.68\00:23:42.78 they come to the train to get warmth and to get some food." 00:23:42.82\00:23:47.99 I didn't know if you know this. 00:23:48.02\00:23:49.59 But I have discovered that, 00:23:49.62\00:23:51.13 these children who were all orphans 00:23:51.16\00:23:54.33 and deserted children were deserted, 00:23:54.36\00:23:57.30 because of the demon in the bottle. 00:23:57.33\00:24:01.40 Yes, yes I do remember. 00:24:01.44\00:24:02.77 Remember? The Vodka, and the parents 00:24:02.80\00:24:06.37 because they were atheists gave up on life 00:24:06.41\00:24:09.98 and they turned to the demon in the bottle or the vodka. 00:24:10.01\00:24:14.28 And they were drunk all the time. 00:24:14.32\00:24:16.69 And the children were driven out onto the streets, 00:24:16.72\00:24:20.36 were minus 30 and minus 40 degrees. 00:24:20.39\00:24:24.13 That was one of the reasons they were so many orphans. 00:24:24.16\00:24:27.26 Because either, both parents had died 00:24:27.30\00:24:30.00 or there was one parent. But they were alcoholic. 00:24:30.03\00:24:33.34 And I couldn't look after the children. 00:24:33.37\00:24:35.54 So, they were given to the orphanages. 00:24:35.57\00:24:37.74 So alcoholism has, has destroyed millions 00:24:37.77\00:24:41.64 in Russia and Ukraine. 00:24:41.68\00:24:43.51 It's one of the greatest curses in the history of, 00:24:43.55\00:24:46.25 of the Russian people. 00:24:46.28\00:24:47.62 And in the history of America, 00:24:47.65\00:24:51.35 America go to day is no longer the great Christian nation 00:24:51.39\00:24:55.49 she used to be. 00:24:55.52\00:24:57.46 Because, forces of atheism, and secularism, 00:24:57.49\00:25:01.66 are starting to tear the heart out 00:25:01.70\00:25:04.10 of this great nation. 00:25:04.13\00:25:05.97 And the results you can see it all around the, 00:25:06.00\00:25:09.90 the breakdown of society. 00:25:09.94\00:25:12.04 But Beverley you asked me before. 00:25:12.07\00:25:14.84 What can we do? What can our supporters do? 00:25:14.88\00:25:19.11 I think we are a move ahead by the grace of God 00:25:19.15\00:25:21.65 and try to run this bigger evangelistic campaign 00:25:21.68\00:25:24.79 for the young people. 00:25:24.82\00:25:28.09 My heart sometimes fails me 00:25:28.12\00:25:30.39 I think we're going to get the money for this. 00:25:30.43\00:25:32.79 But God is never, never failed has he. 00:25:32.83\00:25:35.60 Now he has not. 00:25:35.63\00:25:36.97 We've run campaigns all around Russia Moscow, 00:25:37.00\00:25:41.70 Garonne in St Petersburg over Nick Coots in Siberia, 00:25:41.74\00:25:47.68 Cazan. Do you remember Cazan? 00:25:47.71\00:25:50.45 Yeah, well, I didn't get to Cazan because, 00:25:50.48\00:25:52.45 I had a health problem. 00:25:52.48\00:25:54.52 But tell us about that because, that was 00:25:54.55\00:25:57.02 That was Muslim city 00:25:57.05\00:25:58.39 Yes. 00:25:58.42\00:25:59.75 But she came with me, later on Cazan. 00:25:59.79\00:26:01.79 Yes, we did you came with me to Cazan. 00:26:01.82\00:26:04.43 It was a Muslim city. 00:26:04.46\00:26:06.63 And we saw hundreds of Muslims baptized in the river. 00:26:06.66\00:26:10.20 In front of the mosque, people say it can't be done. 00:26:10.23\00:26:13.77 Just to get back a moment when you said, 00:26:13.80\00:26:16.07 you know we're getting older of course, we are. 00:26:16.10\00:26:19.17 Why not have a perhaps a training school. 00:26:19.21\00:26:22.94 Yes 00:26:22.98\00:26:24.31 For the young people because, 00:26:24.35\00:26:26.61 so many of them are eager for years. 00:26:26.65\00:26:29.35 Yes, and this is now the Bible better 00:26:29.38\00:26:31.95 and had to present it to our listeners. 00:26:31.99\00:26:33.86 This is a great idea. 00:26:33.89\00:26:36.42 Years ago, we ran a school evangelism 00:26:36.46\00:26:38.39 for the Russian pastors. 00:26:38.43\00:26:40.60 We had every Russian, and every one of their pastors. 00:26:40.63\00:26:43.30 Come into a central place. 00:26:43.33\00:26:44.83 At the Christian Cultural Center established 00:26:44.87\00:26:47.84 by 3 ABN and we had a grade school of evangelism 00:26:47.87\00:26:51.47 And it was very successful. 00:26:51.51\00:26:52.87 Super successful, 00:26:52.91\00:26:54.24 we need a school of evangelism 00:26:54.28\00:26:57.18 for our young people. 00:26:57.21\00:26:58.91 Absolutely 00:26:58.95\00:27:00.28 Don't you believe this? 00:27:00.32\00:27:01.65 All from my heart. 00:27:01.68\00:27:03.02 I love the young people here 00:27:03.05\00:27:04.39 I spend a lot of time with the young people. 00:27:04.42\00:27:06.42 Teaching them how to communicate, 00:27:06.45\00:27:08.19 with God how to pray because my, 00:27:08.22\00:27:10.13 they didn't know about prayer. 00:27:10.16\00:27:12.59 And had to commune with God. 00:27:12.63\00:27:15.30 And so I love the young people. 00:27:15.33\00:27:17.00 And we need, I just feel impressed like 00:27:17.03\00:27:19.20 you did to do something for them. 00:27:19.23\00:27:21.14 Not to do less but to do more. 00:27:21.17\00:27:22.50 Yes 00:27:22.54\00:27:23.87 My friend won't to be a partner. 00:27:23.91\00:27:25.31 Want to be Beverley's partner and want to be my partner. 00:27:25.34\00:27:28.41 We've been telling you about the Russian experience. 00:27:28.44\00:27:32.28 We, we've been telling you about 00:27:32.31\00:27:34.18 what atheism can do to our nation. 00:27:34.22\00:27:36.69 How it can destroy the nation. 00:27:36.72\00:27:39.49 And in many ways, 00:27:39.52\00:27:40.92 even though Russia has had a period of peace 00:27:40.96\00:27:43.69 and prosperity and freedom. 00:27:43.73\00:27:46.26 That time is passing. 00:27:46.29\00:27:50.27 The freedoms are going. 00:27:50.30\00:27:52.77 It is time now, to work for the Russian people. 00:27:52.80\00:27:56.20 Please write to me John Carter Post Office Box 00:27:56.24\00:27:58.34 1900 Thousand Oaks, California 91358. 00:27:58.37\00:28:02.04 In Australia write to me at the address 00:28:02.08\00:28:03.91 on the screen to next time. 00:28:03.95\00:28:06.18 God bless you. 00:28:06.21\00:28:07.55
