From Arcadia, California, the Carter report 00:00:08.21\00:00:10.47 presents "The Living Word" around the world. 00:00:10.50\00:00:13.51 Hello, and welcome to the program. 00:00:18.45\00:00:20.27 I am James Venegas. 00:00:20.30\00:00:21.59 Today we are dealing with one of the most controversial issues 00:00:21.62\00:00:24.54 of our day, 'Same sex marriage.' 00:00:24.57\00:00:27.98 The president of the United States of America 00:00:28.01\00:00:30.32 has come out recently in support of same sex marriage. 00:00:30.35\00:00:33.78 So it is without much importance that we ask the question. 00:00:33.81\00:00:36.32 What does the Bible say about marriage 00:00:36.35\00:00:39.13 and the homosexual lifestyle today? 00:00:39.16\00:00:41.43 My guest is undoubtedly the most recognized 00:00:41.46\00:00:44.96 evangelist of our time. 00:00:44.99\00:00:46.59 He is the president of the Carter Report, John Carter, 00:00:46.62\00:00:49.35 we will hear what he has to say in just a moment, stay tuned. 00:00:49.38\00:00:52.30 Hello friend, I am John Carter. 00:00:54.90\00:00:57.00 I am here today to tell you the most amazing news. 00:00:57.03\00:01:00.58 I want to thank you firstly in Jesus' name 00:01:00.61\00:01:03.78 for your magnificent support. 00:01:03.81\00:01:06.17 We are on our way to Port Moresby, 00:01:06.20\00:01:09.69 the capital of Papua New Guinea. 00:01:09.72\00:01:12.93 We are going to see the amazing power of God. 00:01:12.96\00:01:16.24 We are going there to preach the everlasting gospel. 00:01:16.27\00:01:19.99 I will be preaching every night 00:01:20.02\00:01:21.95 outdoors in the national stadium. 00:01:21.98\00:01:24.84 The locals tell us we will have over 100,000 people a night, 00:01:24.87\00:01:30.50 some say a 150,000 people. 00:01:30.53\00:01:33.77 A few have said, maybe 200,000 but I want you to know this. 00:01:33.80\00:01:39.38 We go in the name of Christ 00:01:39.41\00:01:41.36 to preach the gospel and to save souls. 00:01:41.39\00:01:45.48 And I am saying today, 00:01:45.51\00:01:47.11 I can't do this without your help. 00:01:47.14\00:01:50.17 I have got to raise right now $500,000 for this great campaign 00:01:50.20\00:01:57.97 that is going to shake an entire nation for God. 00:01:58.00\00:02:03.16 Please be my partner. 00:02:03.19\00:02:05.16 Write to me, John Carter, PO Box 1900, 00:02:05.19\00:02:09.74 Thousand Oaks, California, 91358. 00:02:09.77\00:02:13.07 In Australia, my Aussie friends, please write to Terrigal. 00:02:13.10\00:02:17.64 The address is now appearing on the screen. 00:02:17.67\00:02:20.86 Please stand with me in this tremendous outreach 00:02:20.89\00:02:25.66 to the people of Papua New Guinea. 00:02:25.69\00:02:28.94 We used to talk about mission impossible. 00:02:28.97\00:02:34.40 All of a sudden it has become mission possible. 00:02:34.43\00:02:38.59 This is an opportunity to reach 00:02:38.62\00:02:42.19 an entire nation for the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:02:42.22\00:02:45.40 Please write to me today and I want to say 00:02:45.43\00:02:48.67 to you from my heart to yours, thank you in Jesus' name. 00:02:48.70\00:02:53.62 Pastor Carter, welcome to the program. 00:02:56.25\00:02:58.08 I am glad to be here. 00:02:58.11\00:02:59.65 Now you've known for your candor, 00:02:59.68\00:03:02.17 your passion, your straightforwardness. 00:03:02.20\00:03:03.77 I never knew. And recently, 00:03:03.80\00:03:06.75 the president of the United States 00:03:06.78\00:03:08.30 was quoted to saying this, "I've always been adamant 00:03:08.33\00:03:11.36 that gay and lesbian Americans 00:03:11.39\00:03:13.18 should be treated fairly and equally. 00:03:13.21\00:03:15.62 It is important for me" he says, 00:03:15.65\00:03:17.45 "To go ahead and affirm that I think, 00:03:17.48\00:03:19.43 same sex couples should be able to get married." 00:03:19.46\00:03:23.99 And for me that's an incredible statement 00:03:24.02\00:03:25.47 from a very influential man. 00:03:25.50\00:03:27.36 Firstly, let me ask you. 00:03:27.39\00:03:29.18 What do you think about gay people? 00:03:29.21\00:03:32.07 I think we got to love gay people, 00:03:32.10\00:03:34.21 because they are children of God. 00:03:34.24\00:03:38.22 Treating people badly for whatever reason 00:03:38.25\00:03:41.22 is unchristian and bad. Yes. 00:03:41.25\00:03:44.14 I saw recently or some time ago, there was a gay parade, 00:03:44.17\00:03:48.94 and I think in one of the cities of the United States. 00:03:48.97\00:03:52.08 Okay. And there were 00:03:52.11\00:03:53.46 Christians standing on the sidelines 00:03:53.49\00:03:55.49 with big placards that said, "burn" word "burn" 00:03:55.52\00:04:02.79 and they are doing this in the name of God. 00:04:02.82\00:04:05.71 The Bible tells us that "God so loved that world 00:04:05.74\00:04:08.16 that He gave His only Son. 00:04:08.19\00:04:10.13 So that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, 00:04:10.16\00:04:13.12 but have everlasting life." 00:04:13.15\00:04:15.21 God loves homosexual people. 00:04:15.24\00:04:18.40 He loves lesbians. He loves gay people. 00:04:18.43\00:04:22.69 God loves people and we should love them too. 00:04:22.72\00:04:25.98 Yes, yes. So the president has said that he supports it. 00:04:26.01\00:04:30.63 What does the Bible say about marriage 00:04:30.66\00:04:33.04 and the homosexual lifestyle? 00:04:33.07\00:04:35.38 With all respect to the president, 00:04:35.41\00:04:37.94 I think the president is completely wrong. 00:04:37.97\00:04:43.02 I don't know if I said that plain enough, but- 00:04:43.05\00:04:46.19 Hearing it loud and clear. 00:04:46.22\00:04:47.90 I am a Bible believing Christians, a Christian. 00:04:47.93\00:04:52.45 I am naive enough to believe 00:04:52.48\00:04:54.81 that a Christian believes the Bible. 00:04:54.84\00:04:57.53 And so I believe that the Bible is above 00:04:57.56\00:05:00.76 the constitution of the United States, 00:05:00.79\00:05:02.95 it is above the White House, it is above the Vatican, 00:05:02.98\00:05:07.21 it is above any church organization, 00:05:07.24\00:05:10.37 it is above any committee. 00:05:10.40\00:05:12.57 This is what is called 00:05:12.60\00:05:14.35 the Protestant Principle of Sola Scriptura. 00:05:14.38\00:05:18.37 Yes. Only scripture. 00:05:18.40\00:05:20.28 And so while I love homosexuals, 00:05:20.31\00:05:24.44 I cannot deny what the Bible says. 00:05:24.47\00:05:27.64 Leviticus 20:13, "If a man lies with a man, 00:05:27.67\00:05:33.27 as one lies with a woman, both of them 00:05:33.30\00:05:37.02 have done what is detestable." 00:05:37.05\00:05:39.64 And you can read on because it even gets stronger. 00:05:39.67\00:05:44.42 And then Pastor Venegas, when I turn over here 00:05:44.45\00:05:48.01 to the New Testament, some people say, 00:05:48.04\00:05:49.45 well, that's just the Old Testament 00:05:49.48\00:05:52.06 and we don't go by the Old Testament anymore. 00:05:52.09\00:05:55.36 Well, Jesus did you know. 00:05:55.39\00:05:57.24 And Jesus was the Son of God and the only Bible that Jesus 00:05:57.27\00:06:01.59 used was the Old Testament. 00:06:01.62\00:06:03.29 Romans 1:26 says, "Because of this, 00:06:03.32\00:06:09.24 God gave them over to shameful lusts. 00:06:09.27\00:06:13.05 Even their women exchanged natural sexual 00:06:13.08\00:06:17.06 relations for unnatural ones. 00:06:17.09\00:06:20.64 In the same way, men also abandoned 00:06:20.67\00:06:23.33 natural relations with women and were inflamed 00:06:23.36\00:06:27.51 with lust for one another. 00:06:27.54\00:06:29.94 Men committed indecent acts with other men, 00:06:29.97\00:06:33.75 and received in themselves 00:06:33.78\00:06:36.37 the due penalty for their perversion." 00:06:36.40\00:06:39.47 And that is of course, St. Paul. 00:06:39.50\00:06:43.16 Now you are the pastor of that church and a good pastor. 00:06:43.19\00:06:47.73 Thank you. Not only a good pastor, we like you. 00:06:47.76\00:06:50.06 Thank you. It's always good to like the church pastor. 00:06:50.09\00:06:54.29 You are a pastor now. Yes. 00:06:54.32\00:06:56.30 Now Pastor Venegas. 00:06:56.33\00:06:59.29 It says in the gospels, Jesus says these words, 00:06:59.32\00:07:03.53 in the beginning God made the male and female 00:07:03.56\00:07:08.10 and said for this reason, a man will leave 00:07:08.13\00:07:12.12 his father and his mother and be joint to his wife 00:07:12.15\00:07:16.46 and they shall become one flesh. 00:07:16.49\00:07:19.05 As it has been said, God made Adam and Eve, 00:07:19.08\00:07:22.65 not Adam and Steve and you know that it serves. 00:07:22.68\00:07:25.03 Absolutely. The very term gay marriage is incorrect. 00:07:25.06\00:07:29.85 It's an oxymoron. Two men joined together 00:07:29.88\00:07:34.62 don't have a marriage. 00:07:34.65\00:07:37.03 A marriage is between a man and a woman, 00:07:37.06\00:07:39.67 and I don't say this to insult the gays 00:07:39.70\00:07:43.86 whom I appreciate and I love, I have met them, 00:07:43.89\00:07:49.40 I have talked to them, I've associated with them. 00:07:49.43\00:07:52.85 I find so many of them such beautiful, kind people. 00:07:52.88\00:07:58.59 But I say to them in the fear of God, 00:07:58.62\00:08:01.48 my conscience is bound according to the Word of God. 00:08:01.51\00:08:05.20 Yes. So how is it, just a flowing from that question 00:08:05.23\00:08:09.17 that we are in a Christian nation 00:08:09.20\00:08:11.47 and this president is a Christian president, 00:08:11.50\00:08:14.77 that he could uphold such a view? 00:08:14.80\00:08:18.33 Well, I don't wish to judge the president, 00:08:18.36\00:08:21.17 I am sure he's a good man. Yeah. 00:08:21.20\00:08:23.19 But he certainly not upholding the scriptures. 00:08:23.22\00:08:25.68 In fact he made the comment that you may be aware of, 00:08:25.71\00:08:29.63 that his Christian principles 00:08:29.66\00:08:32.30 let him to make such a declaration. 00:08:32.33\00:08:34.62 Well, because he is saying, you know, 00:08:34.65\00:08:36.15 we ought to love people and we ought to. Yes. 00:08:36.18\00:08:38.51 I have said over and over again in this church 00:08:38.54\00:08:42.42 when I preached here. 00:08:42.45\00:08:43.65 The doors of this church are open 00:08:43.68\00:08:45.98 to homosexuals to any person. 00:08:46.01\00:08:48.87 Jesus loves people. 00:08:48.90\00:08:52.53 And Jesus died for sinners, we all sinners. 00:08:52.56\00:08:55.30 Yes, yes. And some of us and remember this too my friend. 00:08:55.33\00:09:00.11 Jesus taught that the sins of the spirit were worse 00:09:00.14\00:09:04.79 than the sins of the flesh. 00:09:04.82\00:09:08.18 So Jesus said, "The pride of the church people 00:09:08.21\00:09:11.29 is a lot worse than the adulteries 00:09:11.32\00:09:14.17 and the fornications of the prostitutes." 00:09:14.20\00:09:18.10 Boy, you know, you know, 00:09:18.13\00:09:20.60 I'm running for office obviously myself but listen to this. Yeah. 00:09:20.63\00:09:24.67 The president is being guided by his feelings 00:09:24.70\00:09:31.36 and he is not going according to the Word of God, 00:09:31.39\00:09:34.26 that's his problem. Yes. 00:09:34.29\00:09:36.53 So let's bring this down to an individual, 00:09:36.56\00:09:38.29 well, we have viewers that are struggling themselves 00:09:38.32\00:09:40.56 with issues like this one and issues with sin. 00:09:40.59\00:09:43.14 I have a viewer that writes in and says, 00:09:43.17\00:09:45.57 "I sometimes feel that I have committed unpardonable sin. 00:09:45.60\00:09:50.85 Is there any hope for me," this person writes. 00:09:50.88\00:09:53.19 If a person asks that question, 00:09:53.22\00:09:57.53 he or she has not committed the unpardonable sin. 00:09:57.56\00:10:01.02 The people who don't ask it are most likely 00:10:01.05\00:10:03.75 the ones who have or may have. 00:10:03.78\00:10:07.05 Now if you come to Mathew 12:31, 00:10:07.08\00:10:14.86 "So I tell you, every sin and blasphemy 00:10:14.89\00:10:17.78 shall be forgiven men and women." 00:10:17.81\00:10:21.04 Now there's no sin too bad for God. 00:10:21.07\00:10:23.48 That should give hope to every person. 00:10:23.51\00:10:25.89 And the church exists to say, 00:10:25.92\00:10:28.35 that Christ died for the ungodly. Yes. 00:10:28.38\00:10:31.34 But Jesus says, "But the blasphemy 00:10:31.37\00:10:33.94 against the spirit will not be forgiven." 00:10:33.97\00:10:37.56 The unpardonable sin is when we sin away the Spirit of God. 00:10:37.59\00:10:43.29 The Spirit of God is the agent of salvation. 00:10:43.32\00:10:47.11 He comes from God through Christ and he speaks to our hearts. 00:10:47.14\00:10:52.08 Now it's possible to so resist the Holy Spirit of God 00:10:52.11\00:10:56.17 and to say no to God so often that we build 00:10:56.20\00:11:01.08 a barrier around our hearts. Yes. 00:11:01.11\00:11:04.84 And when our hearts are as hard as this table 00:11:04.87\00:11:08.24 and I'm feeling and I'm moving then 00:11:08.27\00:11:11.29 it's a sign for great cause. 00:11:11.32\00:11:13.97 The Bible says, "Grieve not the Holy Spirit of God." 00:11:14.00\00:11:17.95 You can grieve the Spirit of God by your lifestyle 00:11:17.98\00:11:21.07 and by your impenitence and by your hardness 00:11:21.10\00:11:25.36 and the best place of course to commit 00:11:25.39\00:11:28.15 the unpardonable sin is in church. 00:11:28.18\00:11:31.29 That's right. Especially if you got 00:11:31.32\00:11:32.41 a good preacher like you. 00:11:32.44\00:11:35.07 See, if you got a good preacher, 00:11:35.10\00:11:36.38 and he is preaching for his word, 00:11:36.41\00:11:38.39 and he's got the Spirit of God in him, 00:11:38.42\00:11:40.87 then people will be convicted of their sins. 00:11:40.90\00:11:43.28 Yes. If they resist that continually, 00:11:43.31\00:11:46.63 they will harden their hearts and that can lead 00:11:46.66\00:11:49.32 to the unpardonable sin for that person. 00:11:49.35\00:11:51.42 Yes, so what you're saying is this person 00:11:51.45\00:11:53.21 in even wrestling with the guilt. 00:11:53.24\00:11:54.94 Yes, that shows they haven't committed it. 00:11:54.97\00:11:56.71 They haven't gone beyond the point of no return. 00:11:56.74\00:11:58.20 No, no, but they better get back to reading 00:11:58.23\00:11:59.97 their Bibles and repent and start 00:12:00.00\00:12:03.43 going to a good church where Christ is the Lord. 00:12:03.46\00:12:06.45 Absolutely. Now I have another parson 00:12:06.48\00:12:08.68 that writes in, her name is Penina. 00:12:08.71\00:12:11.05 She says, I am a newly baptized Christian. 00:12:11.08\00:12:14.40 My baptism was at your mission in the Solomon Islands, 00:12:14.43\00:12:17.05 she says. Alleluia. 00:12:17.08\00:12:18.46 How can I grow and deepen my spiritual life 00:12:18.49\00:12:21.49 when I face so many temptations? 00:12:21.52\00:12:24.86 Jesus said, quoted in Mathew 4, 00:12:24.89\00:12:28.78 what's her name? Penina. 00:12:28.81\00:12:30.91 What a nice name. Hello, Penina. 00:12:30.94\00:12:35.22 I am so glad that you came to Christ 00:12:35.25\00:12:37.39 in those meetings, in the Solomon Islands. 00:12:37.42\00:12:40.61 God bless you Penina. 00:12:40.64\00:12:41.88 God loves you, so do I, Penina. 00:12:41.91\00:12:45.02 Now Jesus said in Mathew 4, 00:12:45.05\00:12:47.07 "Man shall not live by bread alone, 00:12:47.10\00:12:49.72 but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. 00:12:49.75\00:12:54.26 Yes. Weak, weak, weak insipid Christians own Bibles 00:12:54.29\00:12:59.09 and spend their time on their computers, 00:12:59.12\00:13:01.95 playing computer games 00:13:01.98\00:13:03.41 and watching television. Yes. 00:13:03.44\00:13:05.50 You become what you feed on. 00:13:05.53\00:13:07.73 If you feed on junk, you'll become junk inside your head. 00:13:07.76\00:13:12.33 And a person grows in grace by reading 00:13:12.36\00:13:14.93 the scriptures and by praying and by coming, 00:13:14.96\00:13:18.62 going to church and keeping the Lord stay holy, 00:13:18.65\00:13:23.58 that's the Sabbath. 00:13:23.61\00:13:25.33 And I have another question from another lady Caroline. 00:13:25.36\00:13:28.36 She asks a very similar, very similar question. 00:13:28.39\00:13:30.98 I am sure she is not from the Solomon's 00:13:31.01\00:13:32.28 although but she might be. 00:13:32.31\00:13:34.08 She says, "Will I be saved if I only read my Bible at church?" 00:13:34.11\00:13:37.41 And I guess that's the same thing that you're saying. 00:13:37.44\00:13:39.30 Well, you know, that's sort of a little legalistic attitude, 00:13:39.33\00:13:42.65 God bless her, Caroline is it? Caroline. 00:13:42.68\00:13:44.78 Caroline you ought to read your Bible at church 00:13:44.81\00:13:47.45 but you ought to read it more. 00:13:47.48\00:13:50.00 Do you only eat once a weekend 00:13:50.03\00:13:53.27 after you come home from church, Caroline? 00:13:53.30\00:13:57.08 If you want to live, you got to eat food, you got to drink 00:13:57.11\00:14:00.16 and you got to do it on a regular basis, like every day. 00:14:00.19\00:14:03.31 I read my Bible every day, you know why? 00:14:03.34\00:14:05.71 Because I need to. 00:14:05.74\00:14:08.31 I've been a pastor 50 years. 00:14:08.34\00:14:10.78 Of course, you could never tell by just looking at me, do you? 00:14:10.81\00:14:13.07 But what I am telling you is this. 00:14:13.10\00:14:15.88 I've seen so many people come to Christ 00:14:15.91\00:14:19.34 and I've seen a lot of them losetheir way. 00:14:19.37\00:14:21.70 Yes. And the ones who lose 00:14:21.73\00:14:23.81 their way do so, because of spiritual indolence. 00:14:23.84\00:14:28.68 They say, don't tell me what to do. 00:14:28.71\00:14:30.95 Nobody tells me what to do. 00:14:30.98\00:14:32.82 And they are pretty good at putting their carbs down. 00:14:32.85\00:14:35.56 Yeah. And they think they got 00:14:35.59\00:14:36.85 to do that too, to live and they have to, 00:14:36.88\00:14:38.63 they don't read the scriptures. Yes. 00:14:38.66\00:14:41.06 You need to read the scriptures, 00:14:41.09\00:14:42.45 soak yourself in the scripture. 00:14:42.48\00:14:43.88 Spurgeon, more than a 100 years ago said, 00:14:43.91\00:14:47.08 lean Christians own Bibles and feed on newspapers. 00:14:47.11\00:14:50.56 He said lean Christians own Bibles we say it today. 00:14:50.59\00:14:54.11 Yes. And spend all their 00:14:54.14\00:14:55.40 time on the Internet. 00:14:55.43\00:14:57.86 Or in front of the one-eyed monster who sits in Aberdeen. 00:14:57.89\00:15:01.34 Very sure, very true. 00:15:01.37\00:15:03.24 Now another lady, we have all the ladies 00:15:03.27\00:15:05.64 running at the moment, not sure that's about 00:15:05.67\00:15:08.41 your good looks or not, she says-- 00:15:08.44\00:15:10.03 Well, let's say it is. 00:15:10.06\00:15:11.71 She says and her name is Glennis. 00:15:11.74\00:15:13.71 "I was watching your program recently 00:15:13.74\00:15:15.53 and so many people being baptized, 00:15:15.56\00:15:17.97 it is good to see, you are doing a great job 00:15:18.00\00:15:20.42 of work for God, but why doesn't this happen in Australia 00:15:20.45\00:15:25.51 and of course you're from Australia. 00:15:25.54\00:15:26.74 Why don't we see these things 00:15:26.77\00:15:29.87 happening back home in Australia. 00:15:29.90\00:15:32.73 Okay, I'm going to talk to Glennis. 00:15:32.76\00:15:34.76 Yes. Glennis, better listen 00:15:34.79\00:15:36.65 to this young lady. 00:15:36.68\00:15:38.37 It can happen in Australia, it can happen anywhere 00:15:38.40\00:15:41.13 where people having vision and faith in God. 00:15:41.16\00:15:44.74 The Bible says, about Jesus. 00:15:44.77\00:15:46.93 He did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief. 00:15:46.96\00:15:51.15 And unbelief is found particularly among people 00:15:51.18\00:15:56.21 who look like us in a western world in England, Australia 00:15:56.24\00:16:01.91 and other places, they say, it can't be done. 00:16:01.94\00:16:07.27 Oh it can't be done. 00:16:07.30\00:16:10.42 It's because they don't have faith and if it s done, 00:16:10.45\00:16:13.10 they say, people have said to me when I ran 00:16:13.13\00:16:15.52 in the Sydney Opera House, I had 20,000 people there. 00:16:15.55\00:16:17.95 They said firstly, they won't come. 00:16:17.98\00:16:20.20 Yeah. Then secondly, 00:16:20.23\00:16:21.37 when they came they said, they won't stay. 00:16:21.40\00:16:24.36 So they have no faith in God, 00:16:24.39\00:16:27.10 they do not have a relationship with Christ, 00:16:27.13\00:16:31.06 a meaningful relationship with Christ. 00:16:31.09\00:16:34.75 Let me read you a text out of the Bible here. 00:16:34.78\00:16:38.34 and onwards, 00:16:38.37\00:16:42.75 "And I saw another angel flying in mid air" Kings James Version. 00:16:42.78\00:16:47.44 "In the midst of heaven, and he had the eternal gospel 00:16:47.47\00:16:51.83 to proclaim to those who live on the earth to every nation, 00:16:51.86\00:16:55.36 tribe, and language and people." 00:16:55.39\00:16:58.89 The three angels are seen flying in a midst of heaven, 00:16:58.92\00:17:03.54 that's a worldwide proclamation, 00:17:03.57\00:17:05.79 some people and some religious people, 00:17:05.82\00:17:12.33 would like to keep the angels down 00:17:12.36\00:17:14.58 among the cabbages and the squirrels. 00:17:14.61\00:17:18.47 They have a limited view and understanding 00:17:18.50\00:17:22.75 of what is this talking about. 00:17:22.78\00:17:24.84 God does things in a big way and the message 00:17:24.87\00:17:28.85 is proclaimed in the midst of heaven. 00:17:28.88\00:17:31.69 We are going shortly to run a campaign in a great city. 00:17:31.72\00:17:37.62 They say we will have more than a 100,000 people a night. 00:17:37.65\00:17:42.55 People have said, "It can't be done." 00:17:42.58\00:17:44.76 Well, we have seen it happen. 00:17:44.79\00:17:46.18 We've seen it happen. 00:17:46.21\00:17:47.84 We believe it will happen again, 00:17:47.87\00:17:50.27 but you got to have faith in God. 00:17:50.30\00:17:52.30 And I would say to the people in England or Australia, 00:17:52.33\00:17:55.50 or the United States of America, if it's not happening 00:17:55.53\00:17:58.18 in your town, you were to ask yourself 00:17:58.21\00:18:00.19 a question, what's wrong with me. 00:18:00.22\00:18:04.30 Because for too long I think 00:18:04.33\00:18:05.58 we blamed the atheists and called them. 00:18:05.61\00:18:07.39 Yeah, got nothing to do with it. 00:18:07.42\00:18:08.79 But there's nothing we can do to change. 00:18:08.82\00:18:10.09 I baptized thousands of atheists, 00:18:10.12\00:18:12.04 I baptized tens of thousands of communists, 00:18:12.07\00:18:14.94 even members of the KGB. 00:18:14.97\00:18:17.65 So it all starts with our faith. 00:18:17.68\00:18:19.55 It starts with the church. Yes. 00:18:19.58\00:18:22.68 And too often the church is like the text in-there's a Proverbs 00:18:22.71\00:18:28.89 where there is no vision the people perish. 00:18:28.92\00:18:31.93 People have little vision. 00:18:31.96\00:18:33.51 Remember, the great saying, 00:18:33.54\00:18:36.55 "Attempt great things for God, 00:18:36.58\00:18:38.71 expect great things from God." 00:18:38.74\00:18:41.56 Now we have to pay for these great campaigns ourselves, 00:18:41.59\00:18:44.14 hundreds of thousands, millions. 00:18:44.17\00:18:46.86 People say, "It's impossible." 00:18:46.89\00:18:47.92 No, it's not. Soon as we embark upon 00:18:47.95\00:18:50.66 a great campaign, before as we start to preach 00:18:50.69\00:18:54.11 as we move out into the Red Sea, 00:18:54.14\00:18:56.81 the money comes in. 00:18:56.84\00:18:58.53 I know churches and conferences will say, 00:18:58.56\00:19:00.89 "We don't do anything till we have the money in the bank." 00:19:00.92\00:19:03.33 That's why they don't do anything. 00:19:03.36\00:19:05.16 You don't get it until you move out by faith. 00:19:05.19\00:19:07.65 So friend have faith in God. 00:19:07.68\00:19:10.71 Now moving along we have another lady, 00:19:10.74\00:19:11.94 her name is Denise. 00:19:11.97\00:19:13.67 And she says, I often heard 00:19:13.70\00:19:15.52 pastors refer to Enoch, Moses and Elijah 00:19:15.55\00:19:18.92 as having gone to heaven and then she says 00:19:18.95\00:19:21.41 where in the Bible does it actually said, 00:19:21.44\00:19:23.09 that they are in fact in heaven. 00:19:23.12\00:19:25.39 Well the Bible says about Enoch, Enoch 00:19:25.42\00:19:27.89 walked with God and he was not because God 00:19:27.92\00:19:31.19 took him or where would God take him. 00:19:31.22\00:19:33.91 And then it says in the New Testament, 00:19:33.94\00:19:36.26 it's the Book of Jude I think it says, "Enoch did not die." 00:19:36.29\00:19:42.11 It said he escaped death, while he certainly living 00:19:42.14\00:19:45.60 on this earth and being thousands of years old 00:19:45.63\00:19:49.13 and so he is obviously gone somewhere else, 00:19:49.16\00:19:52.32 and I think he would got to be with the Lord 00:19:52.35\00:19:54.87 and I think that's a logical conclusion. 00:19:54.90\00:19:56.97 Yes and in Mathew chapter, no the one that says, 00:19:57.00\00:20:02.75 he didn't dies, I find it in Hebrew 00:20:02.78\00:20:05.09 I believe, about Hebrews 11. 00:20:05.12\00:20:07.04 But in Mathew 17, Jesus meets with Elijah and Moses. 00:20:07.07\00:20:14.51 Transfiguration. Yeah, you can read 00:20:14.54\00:20:16.35 that with your own blue eyes or brown eyes. 00:20:16.38\00:20:21.56 Jesus met with Elijah and Moses 00:20:21.59\00:20:25.40 and He talked with them while they were in the grave. 00:20:25.43\00:20:29.52 Now Elijah had been caught up in the fiery chariot, 00:20:29.55\00:20:32.37 taken home to glory, he never died. 00:20:32.40\00:20:34.21 Zoom, went home to glory. 00:20:34.24\00:20:36.92 And Moses died and we're told in the Book of Jude 00:20:36.95\00:20:42.03 that the devil tried to keep his body in the grave. 00:20:42.06\00:20:46.20 There was a dispute over the body of Moses 00:20:46.23\00:20:49.18 read it in the Book of Jude, Moses was resurrected. 00:20:49.21\00:20:52.93 Yes. To the home and glory. 00:20:52.96\00:20:54.66 So basically, what you're saying is that, 00:20:54.69\00:20:56.55 it doesn't actually say it, but by implication 00:20:56.58\00:20:58.31 where else would they be. 00:20:58.34\00:20:59.64 Yes, where else would they be. 00:20:59.67\00:21:00.81 Well, Jesus was talking to them. 00:21:00.84\00:21:02.65 Exactly, exactly. We have a gentleman by the name of Jim, 00:21:02.68\00:21:06.23 and he writes in along the similar lines, 00:21:06.26\00:21:08.81 he says "You preach that when a person dies, 00:21:08.84\00:21:11.65 he or she sleeps until the Lord's return. 00:21:11.68\00:21:15.18 Moses died, and he had appeared 00:21:15.21\00:21:16.59 with the larger of the transfiguration" 00:21:16.62\00:21:17.98 we'd just talked about that now, yeah. 00:21:18.01\00:21:20.14 He says, "Is Moses now in heaven with Jesus 00:21:20.17\00:21:22.76 and not in the grave." Yes. 00:21:22.79\00:21:24.16 And for this person it's obviously important, 00:21:24.19\00:21:25.75 he says, "I've been taught that your spirit goes to heaven 00:21:25.78\00:21:28.98 until the Lord's return. 00:21:29.01\00:21:30.50 And then your body comes out of the grave." 00:21:30.53\00:21:33.34 You don't believe that? 00:21:33.37\00:21:35.97 Jim, I should read a text to you. 00:21:36.00\00:21:39.27 Now people say, you teach that death is a sleep. 00:21:39.30\00:21:43.09 Well, I only teach it, because Jesus 00:21:43.12\00:21:45.84 taught it and still teaches it. 00:21:45.87\00:21:48.75 Now I'm turning to John 11:11-14, 00:21:48.78\00:21:53.32 "After he said these, he went onto tell him, 00:21:53.35\00:21:56.68 our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, 00:21:56.71\00:22:02.11 but I am going there to wake him up. 00:22:02.14\00:22:03.84 His disciples replied to, "Lord, 00:22:03.87\00:22:05.54 if he sleeps, he will get better. 00:22:05.57\00:22:07.85 Jesus had been speaking of his death, 00:22:07.88\00:22:11.60 but his disciples thought he meant natural sleep. 00:22:11.63\00:22:15.53 So then He told them plainly, Lazarus is dead." 00:22:15.56\00:22:20.32 And then you read on in verse 38 and onwards 00:22:20.35\00:22:23.71 he goes to the tomb and He wakes up the sleeping Lazarus. 00:22:23.74\00:22:29.35 Jesus said that death was a sleep. 00:22:29.38\00:22:32.62 All the way through the Bible, time after time, 00:22:32.65\00:22:36.63 death is referred to as a sleep and people sleep. 00:22:36.66\00:22:41.74 Now Jim, listen to this my friend. 00:22:41.77\00:22:44.28 Go read through 1 Corinthians 15, 00:22:44.31\00:22:47.03 it is the one entire chapter in the Bible 00:22:47.06\00:22:49.13 that talks about the state of the dead. 00:22:49.16\00:22:51.49 Yes. And it says that the last enemy 00:22:51.52\00:22:53.26 to be destroyed is death. 00:22:53.29\00:22:56.30 Christians make death their friend. 00:22:56.33\00:22:58.87 1 Corinthians 15 says, it's the last enemy 00:22:58.90\00:23:01.97 to be destroyed and it's destroyed when Jesus comes. 00:23:02.00\00:23:06.08 You think it's because, it's a bit 00:23:06.11\00:23:07.88 of a coping mechanism to deal with the reality of death. 00:23:07.91\00:23:11.36 Yeah, people don't like to think that the dead are dead. 00:23:11.39\00:23:15.94 They want to think that the dead are alive. 00:23:15.97\00:23:18.73 But the dead are sleeping in the grave awaiting 00:23:18.76\00:23:21.76 the resurrection, same as Jesus did. 00:23:21.79\00:23:24.09 Yeah. He slept in the grave until His resurrection. 00:23:24.12\00:23:27.57 Jesus said in John 5 and John 6, 00:23:27.60\00:23:30.12 all those who are in their graves will hear His voice, 00:23:30.15\00:23:33.33 and will come forth. 00:23:33.36\00:23:35.05 Well, people say, it's only their body. 00:23:35.08\00:23:36.46 No, he said, those people there. Yes. 00:23:36.49\00:23:39.46 Now the spirit returns to God that is the breadth of life, 00:23:39.49\00:23:44.84 goes back to God and the person sleeps in the grave, peaceful. 00:23:44.87\00:23:52.17 You can't contact the dead. 00:23:52.20\00:23:54.54 And when Jesus comes, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, 00:23:54.57\00:24:00.31 1 Corinthians 15:51 and onward, 00:24:00.34\00:24:03.33 it tells us that the dead become immortal 00:24:03.36\00:24:06.67 and are raised to life again, at the second coming of Christ. 00:24:06.70\00:24:10.49 The second coming of Christ is our hope, not death. 00:24:10.52\00:24:14.17 Now, John, just on a personal note, 00:24:14.20\00:24:15.65 I had lost my father a few years ago, 00:24:15.68\00:24:17.54 and I found a lot of comfort in knowing 00:24:17.57\00:24:19.43 that he is resting in peace, rest in peace. 00:24:19.46\00:24:21.72 Good console. Awaiting the resurrection. 00:24:21.75\00:24:23.35 Yes. Now on this question, 00:24:23.38\00:24:24.83 Alonzo takes us a little bit deeper into this. 00:24:24.86\00:24:26.94 Alonzo! Alonzo. Thats a good name. 00:24:26.97\00:24:29.11 Yeah, he asks, "If we sleep when we die, 00:24:29.14\00:24:31.79 what about the verse, and I think it's kind 00:24:31.82\00:24:34.57 of misquoted here, he says, 00:24:34.60\00:24:35.89 'To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." 00:24:35.93\00:24:39.07 I am not sure that's the exact quote. 00:24:39.10\00:24:40.16 Oh, that's pretty right. 00:24:40.19\00:24:41.64 "To be absent with the body is to be present with the Lord, 00:24:41.67\00:24:43.97 how about Abraham's bosom in the story 00:24:44.00\00:24:45.99 of the rich man and Lazarus'? 00:24:46.02\00:24:47.56 All right. A troubling text. Alonzo, 00:24:47.59\00:24:50.63 you're doing good and it's a good question. 00:24:50.66\00:24:53.35 Let me give you an answer from the Bible. 00:24:53.38\00:24:57.72 Now what you gonna to do in the Bible, 00:24:57.75\00:25:00.86 Alonzo is not just take one text you got to take 00:25:00.89\00:25:03.64 the whole lot of them, you see. 00:25:03.67\00:25:05.26 Yes, yes. Let me read Jesus' text. 00:25:05.29\00:25:07.87 "Therefore we are always confident, 00:25:07.90\00:25:10.45 and know that as long as we are at home in the body, 00:25:10.48\00:25:15.33 we are away from the Lord." 00:25:15.36\00:25:18.18 And verse 2, "Meanwhile, 00:25:18.21\00:25:20.95 we groan longing to be clothed with our heavenly dwelling." 00:25:20.98\00:25:26.84 While we are in the sinful mortal bodies, 00:25:26.87\00:25:31.30 James, we groan. Yes. 00:25:31.33\00:25:34.31 And the older we get, the more we groan 00:25:34.34\00:25:37.32 Okay. Your groaning is still to come. 00:25:37.35\00:25:40.93 It's still to come. But as time goes by, 00:25:40.96\00:25:42.61 as the bodies wear out, we groan in these bodies. 00:25:42.64\00:25:46.07 Yes. And we longed 00:25:46.10\00:25:47.35 to be clothed with a new body. Yes. 00:25:47.38\00:25:49.73 Now we are going to get a new body, 00:25:49.76\00:25:51.66 but we don't get it at death. Yes. 00:25:51.69\00:25:55.01 The body is in the grave, we get a new body 00:25:55.04\00:25:57.94 when Jesus comes. 00:25:57.97\00:25:59.14 Now I'm going to come, this is pretty important 00:25:59.17\00:26:01.63 because most people don't get this, 00:26:01.66\00:26:04.37 and most people don't read their Bibles and most people 00:26:04.40\00:26:07.02 just say what they believe what the preacher says. 00:26:07.05\00:26:10.42 We will not all sleep, there it is again, 00:26:10.45\00:26:13.14 "We are not all going to sleep, 00:26:13.17\00:26:15.56 but we will all be changed in a flash, 00:26:15.59\00:26:17.93 in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet." 00:26:17.96\00:26:20.34 It's not death. 00:26:20.37\00:26:22.00 "For the trumpet will sound-- like out of the, 00:26:22.03\00:26:26.45 the great part of the, Messiah, you know the great music. 00:26:26.48\00:26:32.52 I won't try to be it from the beginning. 00:26:32.55\00:26:34.48 That's right, thank you. 00:26:34.51\00:26:35.71 "The dead will be raised imperishable, 00:26:35.74\00:26:38.05 and we will be changed. 00:26:38.08\00:26:40.50 For the perishable must clothe it self" here's the clothing. 00:26:40.53\00:26:44.95 "Clothe yourself with the imperishable 00:26:44.98\00:26:46.98 and the mortal with immortality. 00:26:47.01\00:26:49.25 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable 00:26:49.28\00:26:53.02 and the mortal with the immortality, 00:26:53.05\00:26:55.09 then the saying that is written will come true, 00:26:55.12\00:26:57.42 'Death has been swallowed up in victory.'" 00:26:57.45\00:27:00.19 And that happens not at death, but when Jesus comes. 00:27:00.22\00:27:03.92 Such an important truth. Yes. 00:27:03.95\00:27:06.01 So many of our viewers still wrestling with this issue, 00:27:06.04\00:27:08.49 and I have another one. 00:27:08.52\00:27:10.04 Bill, who writes," John, 00:27:10.07\00:27:12.32 is that true that you don't believe in an eternal hell, 00:27:12.35\00:27:15.02 which is in adjunct to this. 00:27:15.05\00:27:16.56 Thank you, Bill. 00:27:16.59\00:27:17.94 And he says, didn't Jesus talk more about hell than heaven. 00:27:17.97\00:27:21.54 How about the biblical passage, 00:27:21.57\00:27:23.12 again the 'Richman and Lazarus' 00:27:23.15\00:27:25.35 who was in hell asking for Abraham 00:27:25.38\00:27:27.46 to dip his finger in the cool or cool water, 00:27:27.49\00:27:31.15 to cool his tongue in the fires of hell? 00:27:31.18\00:27:33.12 Yes. Can you also ask 00:27:33.15\00:27:34.76 that his brother be warned so his problem 00:27:34.79\00:27:38.40 was that he wouldn't believe even in hell. 00:27:38.43\00:27:41.35 What's your view on hellfire? 00:27:41.38\00:27:43.14 Well, it's not my view at all, it's the biblical view, 00:27:43.17\00:27:45.66 but James, Bill is doing very well. 00:27:45.69\00:27:48.83 Yes. And he's asked a very, 00:27:48.86\00:27:50.42 very good question, I wish every body who watch 00:27:50.45\00:27:52.98 their television program, was as good as the people 00:27:53.01\00:27:55.92 who are asking these questions, 00:27:55.95\00:27:57.43 because these people are thinking. 00:27:57.46\00:27:59.75 And I commend them with all my heart. 00:27:59.78\00:28:02.07 Exactly. I am proud of my television audience, 00:28:02.10\00:28:05.44 because they are second to none, 00:28:05.47\00:28:08.86 so I believe in hell. 00:28:08.89\00:28:12.03 Oh yes, I believe in a red hot hell. 00:28:12.06\00:28:14.64 I believe in a hell that's going to burn up sinners 00:28:14.67\00:28:16.99 and sin and the devil and everybody else. 00:28:17.02\00:28:19.75 Now Jude says in a similar way, "Sodom and Gomorrah 00:28:19.78\00:28:24.53 and the surrounding towns gave themselves up 00:28:24.56\00:28:27.40 to sexual immorality and perversion." 00:28:27.43\00:28:32.37 You better go and read and see what that perversion 00:28:32.40\00:28:35.04 was and our president, our beloved president 00:28:35.07\00:28:39.59 ought to go and read about it too in his Bible, 00:28:39.62\00:28:42.45 in the Book of Genesis, Mr. President God bless you. 00:28:42.48\00:28:46.32 "In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah 00:28:46.35\00:28:48.16 and the surrounding towns gave 00:28:48.19\00:28:49.58 themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. 00:28:49.61\00:28:54.34 They serve as an example of those who suffer 00:28:54.37\00:28:56.73 the punishment of eternal fire." 00:28:56.76\00:28:59.47 I have been to the sites of Sodom and Gomorrah, 00:28:59.50\00:29:02.42 the southern part of the Dead Sea. 00:29:02.45\00:29:03.95 I've been there, I felt the ashes run 00:29:03.98\00:29:06.61 through my fingers. 00:29:06.64\00:29:08.36 I looked at the little pieces of the human bone, 00:29:08.39\00:29:11.63 those places are not burning today. 00:29:11.66\00:29:14.45 The fire came down and it was an imperishable fire. 00:29:14.48\00:29:18.30 It was unquenchable fire. 00:29:18.33\00:29:20.46 And it burns for ever and ever 00:29:20.49\00:29:23.17 while there was anything there to burn. 00:29:23.20\00:29:26.62 But when the fire has done its work, 00:29:26.65\00:29:28.70 the fire went out and hell would go out too. 00:29:28.73\00:29:32.86 And the Bible says, Sodom and Gomorrah are a type, 00:29:32.89\00:29:36.61 are an illustration of hell. 00:29:36.64\00:29:39.30 So it's pretty hard now, I'm going to give you another text. 00:29:39.33\00:29:42.58 Yes please. Bill, 00:29:42.61\00:29:44.27 you better look at the text, Bill because you are a thinker, 00:29:44.30\00:29:48.21 but the problem is, many people are not like you, Bill. 00:29:48.24\00:29:51.98 I get a few texts on Sunday and on the weekends 00:29:52.01\00:29:55.20 from preacher that's all I hear. 00:29:55.23\00:29:58.29 But I don't hear the rest. 00:29:58.32\00:29:59.68 Mathew 13, Jesus talks about hell, 00:29:59.71\00:30:03.78 "As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, 00:30:03.81\00:30:07.84 so it will be, at death, 00:30:07.87\00:30:11.00 no, so it will be at the end of the age. 00:30:11.03\00:30:16.47 The Son of Man will send out his angels, 00:30:16.50\00:30:18.41 and they will weed out of his kingdom 00:30:18.44\00:30:19.88 everything that causes sin and all who do evil. 00:30:19.91\00:30:22.77 They will throw them into the fiery furnace, that's hell, 00:30:22.80\00:30:25.55 where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 00:30:25.58\00:30:27.76 Then the righteous will shine like the sun 00:30:27.79\00:30:29.85 in the kingdom of their Father. 00:30:29.88\00:30:31.24 Whoever has ears, let them hear?" 00:30:31.27\00:30:32.81 There is hell at the end of the world. 00:30:32.84\00:30:36.51 And the fire's going to go out. 00:30:36.54\00:30:38.26 Now the story of the rich man and Lazarus. 00:30:38.29\00:30:41.06 Well, you can take it on or two ways. 00:30:41.09\00:30:43.40 I prefer to take it in the way that the Bible teaches. 00:30:43.43\00:30:47.35 The Bible in Luke 16, 00:30:47.38\00:30:50.56 not going to look it up, don't have time. 00:30:50.59\00:30:52.14 Luke 16:19 and onwards 00:30:52.17\00:30:54.24 talks about the rich man going to hell. 00:30:54.27\00:30:58.95 And it talks about Lazarus the beggar 00:30:58.98\00:31:01.90 going to Abraham's bosom. 00:31:01.93\00:31:04.48 Now he must have a big bosom 00:31:04.51\00:31:05.78 to take all the righteous if it's true. 00:31:05.81\00:31:08.76 I mean, if it's literal. Yes. 00:31:08.79\00:31:10.38 The Bible is not always to be taken literally, 00:31:10.41\00:31:14.96 if someone says, there are parables, 00:31:14.99\00:31:18.62 that old passage of the Bible is full of parables. 00:31:18.65\00:31:23.06 And so the Bible even uses stories 00:31:23.09\00:31:26.85 that are not literally true to teach great central truths, 00:31:26.88\00:31:31.52 and so what is it teaching. 00:31:31.55\00:31:32.59 Now if the story is literally true, 00:31:32.62\00:31:35.41 if it's literally true, some people would urge, 00:31:35.44\00:31:37.81 and heaven and hell are so close, 00:31:37.84\00:31:39.70 that the people in hell and the people in heaven 00:31:39.73\00:31:42.17 can talk like you and me. Yes. 00:31:42.20\00:31:43.83 They are so close together. 00:31:43.86\00:31:45.39 One of us is burning like mad and the other one is enjoying, 00:31:45.42\00:31:48.30 we won't talk about who is and-- 00:31:48.33\00:31:50.00 but the other one is enjoying the bliss of paradise, 00:31:50.03\00:31:53.20 the Bible doesn't teach such nonsense. Yes. 00:31:53.23\00:31:57.81 The Bible doesn't teach that. 00:31:57.84\00:32:00.62 What would a drop of water in your tongue do for you 00:32:00.65\00:32:04.47 if you are screaming and blazing? Yes. 00:32:04.50\00:32:07.32 This was an idea that was held by some of the Jews. Yes. 00:32:07.35\00:32:11.63 And the story teaches this. 00:32:11.66\00:32:13.39 Here's the punch line as you find in old parables. 00:32:13.42\00:32:16.78 After death, that's it. 00:32:16.81\00:32:20.08 Don't pray for the dead, their fate is sealed. Yes. 00:32:20.11\00:32:24.50 And once you die, after death 00:32:24.53\00:32:26.94 it's going to be heaven and hell that's for sure, 00:32:26.97\00:32:29.49 and the rest of the Bible tells you when. 00:32:29.52\00:32:32.04 But accept God and accept Christ now, 00:32:32.07\00:32:34.93 because once you die, it's too late, 00:32:34.96\00:32:37.83 that's the point of the parable. 00:32:37.86\00:32:39.80 So it's important for us to take the whole Bible, 00:32:39.83\00:32:41.59 not to just grab one, little bit-- 00:32:41.62\00:32:42.78 The text without a context is a pretext. 00:32:42.81\00:32:45.99 Now we have a very big question 00:32:46.02\00:32:47.99 that we want to answer in just a moment. 00:32:48.02\00:32:49.38 It is--it says there is increasing concern 00:32:49.41\00:32:51.48 over the use of NIV Bible, in our churches, 00:32:51.51\00:32:55.23 where people claim that there are lot of words 00:32:55.26\00:32:57.00 and passages missing. 00:32:57.03\00:32:58.76 And the question I want to put to you in just a moment, 00:32:58.79\00:33:00.66 is should we stop using this translation altogether 00:33:00.69\00:33:02.97 and go back to the faithful KJV. 00:33:03.00\00:33:06.01 And we will hear what Pastor Carter has to say on that 00:33:06.04\00:33:09.34 in just a moment after these messages. 00:33:09.37\00:33:14.72 The Carter Report is a self supporting ministry 00:33:14.75\00:33:17.92 with a global mission. 00:33:17.95\00:33:19.59 We believe that the most important thing 00:33:19.62\00:33:21.65 that we can do in this tremendous hour 00:33:21.68\00:33:24.43 is to tell people about the Lord Jesus Christ. 00:33:24.46\00:33:27.62 Because Jesus said, "I am the way, 00:33:27.65\00:33:30.43 the truth and the life." 00:33:30.46\00:33:32.14 We do not believe that this is business as usual. 00:33:32.17\00:33:36.23 We believe that we are living in the closing hours 00:33:36.26\00:33:39.52 in the history of this world. 00:33:39.55\00:33:41.21 Bless your heart, friend. 00:33:41.24\00:33:42.70 Look at the signs that are being fulfilled almost everyday. 00:33:42.73\00:33:46.57 The signs of the times are shouting at us. 00:33:46.60\00:33:49.68 And they're saying, "Jesus is coming soon." 00:33:49.71\00:33:53.10 I want you to be my partner in global mission. 00:33:53.13\00:33:56.67 I want you to be my partner 00:33:56.70\00:33:58.46 in helping to tell the world about the coming of Jesus. 00:33:58.49\00:34:02.22 I want you to be my partner in the preaching 00:34:02.25\00:34:05.41 of the distinctive truths of the Three Angels' Messages. 00:34:05.44\00:34:10.01 Please, check us out 00:34:10.04\00:34:12.34 at the new "Carter Report" website, cartereport.org. 00:34:12.37\00:34:17.18 We have a special section whereby you can ask questions 00:34:17.21\00:34:22.01 and I will give you the answers 00:34:22.04\00:34:23.86 from the living word of the living God. 00:34:23.89\00:34:27.37 That is the cartereport.org. 00:34:27.40\00:34:32.09 My friend, we want you to join us 00:34:32.12\00:34:35.00 in the mission to preach the gospel 00:34:35.03\00:34:37.73 in China, in India, in Australia, in Africa, 00:34:37.76\00:34:42.74 in the United States of America, wherever people are lost 00:34:42.77\00:34:46.93 and wherever people need to hear 00:34:46.96\00:34:49.32 the good news that Jesus saves. 00:34:49.35\00:34:52.99 Please, check us out. 00:34:53.02\00:34:54.49 The new "Carter Report" website, cartereport.org. 00:34:54.52\00:34:59.50 I want to hear from you today. 00:34:59.53\00:35:02.22 Welcome back. 00:35:15.69\00:35:16.72 We are talking with Pastor Carter 00:35:16.75\00:35:17.95 about some extraordinary controversial issues 00:35:17.98\00:35:20.63 and at the moment we've led on the table 00:35:20.66\00:35:22.08 the issue of the NIV Bible. 00:35:22.11\00:35:25.14 Should we be doing away with this Bible altogether 00:35:25.17\00:35:27.95 because people are saying 00:35:27.98\00:35:29.30 that there are words and phrases missing? 00:35:29.33\00:35:30.89 Should we go back to the KJV exclusively? 00:35:30.92\00:35:33.70 What do you have to say about that, Pastor Carter? 00:35:33.73\00:35:35.48 Many sincere Christians ask that question. Yes. 00:35:35.51\00:35:40.05 I love them, God love them. 00:35:40.08\00:35:42.04 I had somebody write to me and said, 00:35:42.07\00:35:44.52 we sure hope you use the King James Version in Russia. 00:35:44.55\00:35:48.03 You preached to millions there 00:35:48.06\00:35:49.22 and hope you're using the King James Version in Russia. 00:35:49.25\00:35:53.03 Well, I have a Russian Bible there. True, true. 00:35:53.06\00:35:55.59 And it's not for greatest translation 00:35:55.62\00:35:58.30 but God can use it to save souls. 00:35:58.33\00:36:01.97 What people ought to stop doing 00:36:02.00\00:36:03.92 is they need to stop debating 00:36:03.95\00:36:05.97 about the relative merits of the NIV 00:36:06.00\00:36:09.93 and they got to start to read their Bible, 00:36:09.96\00:36:12.28 and practice it, you see. Yes. 00:36:12.31\00:36:14.35 But what people don't understand is 00:36:14.38\00:36:17.54 how the Bible is translated. 00:36:17.57\00:36:21.19 Now the King James Version is my favorite translation. 00:36:21.22\00:36:25.17 I am so glad that Americans 00:36:25.20\00:36:27.02 love the Bible of the Church of England. 00:36:27.05\00:36:30.49 They say what? 00:36:30.52\00:36:32.05 Yes, it's the Bible of the Church of England, 00:36:32.08\00:36:34.64 the Church of England gave it to you with love. True. 00:36:34.67\00:36:39.17 It was translated in '60 the King James, 00:36:39.20\00:36:42.90 well we don't have a king over here. Yeah. 00:36:42.93\00:36:45.58 I'm crying out loud as they say in Texas. 00:36:45.61\00:36:51.15 It was translated in 1611. 00:36:51.18\00:36:54.12 People in the days of the Bible 00:36:54.15\00:36:56.05 did not call themselves 'the' and 'thou' and 'thine' 00:36:56.08\00:37:00.76 they used normal language like 'you' and 'me' 00:37:00.79\00:37:05.13 the others are completely out of issue, 00:37:05.16\00:37:06.93 there's something else. 00:37:06.96\00:37:09.17 What the NIV does and some other 00:37:09.20\00:37:11.22 modern speech translations like the American Standard. Yes. 00:37:11.25\00:37:16.25 They have access to a greater number of manuscripts, 00:37:16.28\00:37:18.89 there are no original manuscripts. Yes. 00:37:18.92\00:37:21.49 It is an art and a science 00:37:21.52\00:37:23.46 to find the most ancient manuscripts, 00:37:23.49\00:37:27.18 and so they by a comparisons of the manuscripts 00:37:27.21\00:37:30.56 like the Dead Sea scrolls, brought out to be recent, 00:37:30.59\00:37:34.49 you know only 60 years ago or something. Yes. 00:37:34.52\00:37:37.23 They can find the clearest text, 00:37:37.26\00:37:42.80 the most accurate text. Yes. 00:37:42.83\00:37:45.16 Now some people have asked me. 00:37:45.19\00:37:46.41 What about the New World Translation. 00:37:46.44\00:37:50.40 Isn't that the Bible that the Jehovah's Witnesses use? 00:37:50.43\00:37:52.16 Well, God bless those Jehovah's Witnesses, 00:37:52.19\00:37:53.94 but they don't have a good translation. 00:37:53.97\00:37:56.91 It's a biased translation. 00:37:56.94\00:37:58.50 It is not an accurate translation. 00:37:58.53\00:38:00.48 But one of the most accurate translations 00:38:00.51\00:38:02.22 on the market is the Bible 00:38:02.25\00:38:03.50 I've got here the New International Version. 00:38:03.53\00:38:05.92 If you don't read it, read the Kings James Version. 00:38:05.95\00:38:08.34 And if you don't like that, read the New King James Version. 00:38:08.37\00:38:11.11 But the most important thing that you can do 00:38:11.14\00:38:13.81 is to read your Bible everyday. 00:38:13.84\00:38:16.99 Don't talk about it, read it and obey it. 00:38:17.02\00:38:21.05 Excellent. 00:38:21.08\00:38:22.11 Now we have another writer 00:38:22.14\00:38:23.62 who I guess is asking a more prophetic question, 00:38:23.65\00:38:26.37 his name is Joseph. Good name. 00:38:26.40\00:38:28.19 Yeah, very good name, biblical name. 00:38:28.22\00:38:30.22 How close are we to the king of the south 00:38:30.25\00:38:33.90 arriving on the scene? 00:38:33.93\00:38:35.14 I believe Christ is returning soon, 00:38:35.17\00:38:37.01 but the king of the south has to appear first. 00:38:37.04\00:38:39.37 Yeah, that's a rather profound prefigure question, 00:38:39.40\00:38:42.64 I-- I can talk on that, 00:38:42.67\00:38:44.96 you know, for a long time or as they say in Australia, 00:38:44.99\00:38:47.02 till the cows come home. 00:38:47.05\00:38:50.11 In Daniel 11, you have the battle between 00:38:50.14\00:38:53.29 the King of the North and the King of the South. 00:38:53.32\00:38:56.98 It is generally conceded today 00:38:57.01\00:38:58.78 that the term 'King of the North' 00:38:58.81\00:39:00.44 refers to the last great antichrist. 00:39:00.47\00:39:03.71 The power of the little horn of Daniel 7, 00:39:03.74\00:39:06.67 a little horn of Daniel 8 and the power of Revelation 13. 00:39:06.70\00:39:10.41 We won't go into that in depth. Yes. 00:39:10.44\00:39:13.02 The King of South originally was Egypt. 00:39:13.05\00:39:16.71 It's King of the South. Yeah the physical King of South. 00:39:16.74\00:39:19.07 And the north was Babylon. 00:39:19.10\00:39:21.16 So the King of the North is spiritual Babylon today 00:39:21.19\00:39:24.39 and the King of the South today is spiritual Egypt. 00:39:24.42\00:39:30.42 Egypt was idolatry, and blasphemy, 00:39:30.45\00:39:34.30 and a power that said, who is Jehovah 00:39:34.33\00:39:36.60 that I should obey him. 00:39:36.63\00:39:39.02 It refers to a power 00:39:39.05\00:39:40.60 that is belligerently opposed to the living God. 00:39:40.63\00:39:44.75 Some would say, it's the atheistic communism, 00:39:44.78\00:39:48.81 or militant communism. 00:39:48.84\00:39:51.01 And the Bible says, in the last days, 00:39:51.04\00:39:53.49 this great militant communism, spiritual Egypt, 00:39:53.52\00:39:57.85 the spirit of the old pharaohs 00:39:57.88\00:39:59.51 will become a tremendous force in the world. 00:39:59.54\00:40:02.50 It's happening today, it already has happened. 00:40:02.53\00:40:05.15 And history is repeating itself. 00:40:05.18\00:40:07.54 I believe that we are living in the last days. 00:40:07.57\00:40:12.25 So these things are opponents-- Yes, I think so, yes. 00:40:12.28\00:40:15.40 Now this one you'll find very interesting. 00:40:15.43\00:40:17.19 Her name is Pratibha. Nice name, Pratibha. 00:40:17.22\00:40:19.95 I think it's a she. Let's hope it's a man. 00:40:19.98\00:40:21.87 Yeah, well it could be a he or she. 00:40:21.90\00:40:24.12 Pratibha is the person who is asking, 00:40:24.15\00:40:26.49 they write, "Dear, Pastor Carter, 00:40:26.52\00:40:28.42 I am a Hindu convert from South Africa 00:40:28.45\00:40:32.18 and I am of Indian descent, 00:40:32.21\00:40:34.50 I've been told that my customary sari dress-- 00:40:34.53\00:40:37.38 it's a lady. It's a lady. 00:40:37.41\00:40:39.17 It's a lady. There we go. 00:40:39.20\00:40:40.40 She asks, whether a sari dress is improper 00:40:40.43\00:40:43.76 and not appropriate or inappropriate 00:40:43.79\00:40:46.50 and whether she's clinging to tradition, 00:40:46.53\00:40:47.93 I think she's been told that, 00:40:47.96\00:40:49.64 and she says, I would appreciate your view 00:40:49.67\00:40:51.57 on this kind of a dress. 00:40:51.60\00:40:52.86 I've worn it for a long time, 00:40:52.89\00:40:54.09 if it's not allowed, what is appropriate dress in church. 00:40:54.12\00:40:58.09 For her. For her. 00:40:58.12\00:41:00.15 A sari. Okay. 00:41:00.18\00:41:02.39 Now bless her, here's a woman who has come from Hinduism, 00:41:02.42\00:41:09.40 a pagan religion with all these Gods, 00:41:09.43\00:41:12.74 but they have a national costume, it's a sari. 00:41:12.77\00:41:17.62 It's modest. It's beautiful. 00:41:17.65\00:41:19.76 I've preached in India there 00:41:19.79\00:41:22.00 and when the ladies come by the thousands 00:41:22.03\00:41:24.30 to the meetings they have saris. 00:41:24.33\00:41:26.88 They look beautiful, they look dignified, 00:41:26.91\00:41:29.98 that's what she ought to wear. 00:41:30.01\00:41:32.54 And people in the church would say, 00:41:32.57\00:41:35.18 she's following tradition. 00:41:35.21\00:41:38.93 Well, she is not following tradition 00:41:38.96\00:41:41.00 like her critics are. 00:41:41.03\00:41:43.99 Who says that the western dress came 00:41:44.02\00:41:47.74 and solid from the hand of God. Yeah. 00:41:47.77\00:41:51.57 It is simply a narrow minded concept. 00:41:51.60\00:41:54.22 So I want to say to this beautiful lady, 00:41:54.25\00:41:56.38 who has come from a Hindu church. 00:41:56.41\00:41:58.79 You are welcome in our church any day wearing your sari 00:41:58.82\00:42:04.01 because God loves you and so do we. Amen. Amen. 00:42:04.04\00:42:08.61 I totally agree, Pastor Carter. 00:42:08.64\00:42:10.29 Now the next question is I assume this is a gentleman, 00:42:10.32\00:42:13.61 but it could go either way. His name is Pokie. 00:42:13.64\00:42:15.50 No, it's got to be definitely a gentleman. 00:42:15.53\00:42:17.40 You've come across Pokie's before? 00:42:17.43\00:42:19.26 I-- not for many years, but when I grew up in Brisbane, 00:42:19.29\00:42:23.80 one of my best friends, who is called Pokie. 00:42:23.83\00:42:28.75 He is a great guy. Yes. 00:42:28.78\00:42:30.48 He may be the one sending this out. 00:42:30.51\00:42:31.73 It could be him. Everybody-- 00:42:31.76\00:42:33.18 but they didn't call it to him, unkindly or sarcastically, 00:42:33.21\00:42:36.38 it was sort of an affectionate term. 00:42:36.41\00:42:38.63 So Pokie, with a lot of affection, 00:42:38.66\00:42:41.36 we thank you for the question. 00:42:41.39\00:42:42.77 And he asks, and it's an important question. 00:42:42.80\00:42:45.26 Is Sunday the true day of worship, Sunday? 00:42:45.29\00:42:49.58 Well, Pokie, let me try to give you some text in the Bible. 00:42:49.61\00:42:55.59 Of course, Sunday is not mentioned 00:42:55.62\00:42:56.96 in the Bible by name. Yeah. 00:42:56.99\00:42:59.43 The Sabbath is, but Sunday is the day of the sun. 00:42:59.46\00:43:03.74 We got it from the Romans, 00:43:03.77\00:43:05.65 the pagan Romans who worship their gods on Sunday. 00:43:05.68\00:43:10.34 But it isn't the day that Jesus resurrected from the tomb. 00:43:10.37\00:43:12.08 Yes, it is, it is the first day of the week 00:43:12.11\00:43:14.03 and when people want to dispute that, 00:43:14.06\00:43:16.48 you just say to them, go and look up any encyclopedia, 00:43:16.51\00:43:20.23 the Sabbath is the seventh day 00:43:20.26\00:43:22.30 and that is the day we call Saturday today. Yes. 00:43:22.33\00:43:25.10 Sunday is the first day of the week. 00:43:25.13\00:43:26.95 All of the Christians believe that 00:43:26.98\00:43:28.65 Jesus rose from the dead 00:43:28.68\00:43:29.88 on the first day. On the first day. 00:43:29.91\00:43:31.20 And that's why they keep Sunday 00:43:31.23\00:43:32.63 even though the Bible doesn't tell you to. 00:43:32.66\00:43:34.47 Revelation 1:10 says, 00:43:34.50\00:43:38.05 "On the Lord's day I was in the spirit." 00:43:38.08\00:43:40.31 So the first truth we are going to establish is this, 00:43:40.34\00:43:44.02 there is a Lord's Day. 00:43:44.05\00:43:46.36 Okay. Yes. 00:43:46.39\00:43:47.61 Not every day is the same, there is the Lord's day. 00:43:47.64\00:43:50.62 Now which day is the Lord's day, 00:43:50.65\00:43:52.74 we go to the Bible that Jesus used 00:43:52.77\00:43:56.57 and that's the Book of Isaiah 00:43:56.60\00:43:58.84 and it is, this tells us which is the Lord's day. 00:43:58.87\00:44:02.62 Isaiah 58:13, in my NIV. 00:44:02.65\00:44:10.62 It says, "If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath 00:44:10.65\00:44:14.94 and from doing as you please on my holy day" 00:44:14.97\00:44:19.68 he's got a holy day, it's the Sabbath. 00:44:19.71\00:44:22.36 "If you call the Sabbath a delight 00:44:22.39\00:44:24.95 and the Lord's holy day honorable." 00:44:24.98\00:44:27.78 Let me give you some facts, Pastor Venegas. 00:44:27.81\00:44:31.28 Sunday is never called the Sabbath. 00:44:31.31\00:44:34.54 The first day of the week is never called the Sabbath. 00:44:34.57\00:44:36.99 There's no record of Jesus or the disciples keeping Sunday 00:44:37.02\00:44:43.81 or the first day of the week in honor of the resurrection. 00:44:43.84\00:44:47.01 That is the myth. Okay. 00:44:47.04\00:44:48.71 It is not taught in the scriptures. 00:44:48.74\00:44:50.52 The first day of the week 00:44:50.55\00:44:51.64 is mentioned 8 times in the New Testament 00:44:51.67\00:44:53.53 and I can reel them off, 00:44:53.56\00:44:54.79 but not one of those texts says it's a holy day. 00:44:54.82\00:44:57.70 Sunday or the first day of the week 00:44:57.73\00:44:59.68 is never called the Lord's day. Okay. 00:44:59.71\00:45:02.85 Where do we get this from? 00:45:02.88\00:45:03.93 From the Roman Catholic church fathers. 00:45:03.96\00:45:06.83 But you can't find with Sunday 00:45:06.86\00:45:08.53 or the first of the week is called the Lord's day. 00:45:08.56\00:45:12.06 I believe as an old fashioned Bible Christian, 00:45:12.09\00:45:15.14 I believe in the Gospel of Christ, 00:45:15.17\00:45:17.88 I believe I am saved by Christ alone. 00:45:17.91\00:45:20.52 I believe in the blood of Christ 00:45:20.55\00:45:22.06 and I believe in the Ten Commandments. 00:45:22.09\00:45:24.83 And the fourth commandment says, 00:45:24.86\00:45:26.22 "Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy." 00:45:26.25\00:45:29.02 The seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord, your God. 00:45:29.05\00:45:34.96 You and I by the grace of God 00:45:34.99\00:45:36.94 ought to show our love to Jesus, 00:45:36.97\00:45:38.47 by keeping His commandments, 00:45:38.50\00:45:40.30 including the Lord 's Day, the Sabbath. 00:45:40.33\00:45:45.69 And on now that we have another person 00:45:45.72\00:45:47.45 by the name of Kendroy who accepts the fact that 00:45:47.48\00:45:50.44 we keep the seventh day Sabbath, 00:45:50.47\00:45:52.74 but he's asking, how about the other holy days, 00:45:52.77\00:45:55.45 he says that in Leviticus 23, it states 00:45:55.48\00:45:57.83 that "the weekly as well as the annual Sabbaths 00:45:57.86\00:45:59.90 are feasts of the Lord and then he mentions Pentecost, 00:45:59.93\00:46:03.78 the day of unleavened bread 00:46:03.81\00:46:05.43 in Acts and 1 Corinthians 16, 00:46:05.46\00:46:08.29 one that also be keeping 00:46:08.32\00:46:09.84 the holy feast of the Old Testament. 00:46:09.87\00:46:11.15 All right, good question, Kendroy, great question. 00:46:11.18\00:46:14.17 You are not the first person to ask it. 00:46:14.20\00:46:16.86 In fact there was the whole church, 00:46:16.89\00:46:18.40 the worldwide church, took out the Armstrong church, 00:46:18.43\00:46:21.91 you know, they used to keep all of those feast days. 00:46:21.94\00:46:24.92 I don't think they do now. 00:46:24.95\00:46:29.71 Let me tell you something, 00:46:29.74\00:46:31.22 let me share you something, it may be better. 00:46:31.25\00:46:33.04 I'm going to turn over here, to the Book of Hebrews 9 00:46:33.07\00:46:36.39 and if you want to keep those days, 00:46:36.42\00:46:38.29 that's between you and God, 00:46:38.32\00:46:40.42 but you're certainly going in the right direction, 00:46:40.45\00:46:43.12 at least you want to keep God's holy days 00:46:43.15\00:46:46.20 and that's good. 00:46:46.23\00:46:48.74 Hebrews 9:9-10 says, 00:46:48.77\00:46:51.95 "This is an illustration for the present time 00:46:51.98\00:46:55.55 indicating that the gifts 00:46:55.58\00:46:57.14 and the sacrifices being offered, 00:46:57.17\00:46:59.89 were not only, were not able 00:46:59.92\00:47:01.93 to clear the conscience of the worshipper. 00:47:01.96\00:47:06.99 They are only a matter of food and drink 00:47:07.02\00:47:08.97 and various ceremonial washings. 00:47:09.00\00:47:12.65 External regulations applying to the time of the new order.'' 00:47:12.68\00:47:19.04 Now the Bible talks about a new order. 00:47:19.07\00:47:21.61 I believe in the two aspects of the Lord, 00:47:21.64\00:47:24.45 God the moral law and the ceremonial law. 00:47:24.48\00:47:27.93 I believe in the decal and this is mainstream theology, 00:47:27.96\00:47:31.87 every church is taught. 00:47:31.90\00:47:33.64 If the churches say no, it's not what we teach, 00:47:33.67\00:47:36.03 you just have to say look at your prayer books. 00:47:36.06\00:47:37.96 That's true. 00:47:37.99\00:47:39.02 The ceremonial aspects of the law of God 00:47:39.05\00:47:41.70 were done away with. 00:47:41.73\00:47:43.30 For instance, circumcision as a religious right. 00:47:43.33\00:47:48.15 The special Sabbath days like the Passover 00:47:48.18\00:47:53.83 and the Day of Atonement, 00:47:53.86\00:47:56.40 Feast of First Fruits, Trumpets, 00:47:56.43\00:47:58.86 they pointed the people to the coming of Christ. 00:47:58.89\00:48:02.94 That's why it says in the Bible, 00:48:02.97\00:48:04.10 Christ Passover has sacrifice for us. 00:48:04.13\00:48:06.87 To the first coming of Christ. 00:48:06.90\00:48:08.29 Yes, so when Jesus died, 00:48:08.32\00:48:11.15 he died at Passover time. Yeah. 00:48:11.18\00:48:12.97 We know this and he fulfilled the Passover feast 00:48:13.00\00:48:17.48 and so these feasts were sign points 00:48:17.51\00:48:21.38 to point the people to the coming of Christ. 00:48:21.41\00:48:24.27 They pointed forward 00:48:24.30\00:48:27.33 and I believed they finished at the cross. 00:48:27.36\00:48:30.33 And they were merged out after the cross. 00:48:30.36\00:48:32.29 But the Sabbath points us 00:48:32.32\00:48:33.82 back to creation of the seventh day Sabbath. 00:48:33.85\00:48:36.54 Keep the Sabbath because God made you 00:48:36.57\00:48:40.41 and so the ceremony of Sabbaths point forward, 00:48:40.44\00:48:43.28 the seventh day Sabbath points back to creation. 00:48:43.31\00:48:46.49 And I believe that with the new order, 00:48:46.52\00:48:49.26 the ceremonial law is done away with. 00:48:49.29\00:48:51.98 And remembering to that God wrote 00:48:52.01\00:48:53.80 the Ten Commandments with His hand, 00:48:53.83\00:48:56.17 as opposed to the ceremonial-- 00:48:56.20\00:48:57.25 Spoke them with His own mouth, 00:48:57.28\00:48:58.48 He never did that about the Passover. Exactly. 00:48:58.51\00:49:01.62 We have another lady called Karen 00:49:01.65\00:49:04.07 who writes and she knows you well. 00:49:04.10\00:49:06.81 She says dear Pastor Carter I'm an avid listener 00:49:06.84\00:49:09.97 and a fan of your straightforward telling truth. 00:49:10.00\00:49:12.94 I don't know where people get this idea from. 00:49:12.97\00:49:16.29 And she says, I love my evangelical friends, 00:49:16.32\00:49:19.12 obviously she tells like it is to, 00:49:19.15\00:49:21.16 but they drive me crazy with their total obsession 00:49:21.19\00:49:24.74 with the state of Israel 00:49:24.77\00:49:26.47 and their rebuilding of the temple. Yeah. 00:49:26.50\00:49:29.35 She says, she asks, 00:49:29.38\00:49:30.66 is the nation of Israel still relevant? 00:49:30.69\00:49:32.89 What part does Israel play in this time in earth's history? 00:49:32.92\00:49:36.62 Aren't God's promises unconditional, 00:49:36.65\00:49:39.38 sorry conditional? 00:49:39.41\00:49:40.71 So she is asking aren't God's promises conditional 00:49:40.74\00:49:43.70 with reference to the state of Israel? 00:49:43.73\00:49:46.39 Karen is, Karen, you are very observant 00:49:46.42\00:49:50.22 and what you are saying is very pertinent 00:49:50.25\00:49:52.53 and relevant. Yes. 00:49:52.56\00:49:53.73 The vast majority of evangelicals 00:49:57.10\00:49:59.72 look at the Bible as though Christ did never come 00:49:59.75\00:50:03.25 and that's a shock to them. 00:50:03.28\00:50:05.50 They look upon the fulfillment of Bible prophecy 00:50:05.53\00:50:08.35 and everything as though they had never been a cross. 00:50:08.38\00:50:11.86 Now the Bible teaches-- 00:50:11.89\00:50:13.95 now I'll read you what Jesus said 00:50:13.98\00:50:15.76 because it appears a lot of them 00:50:15.79\00:50:17.92 haven't read these texts but over here in Matthew 21, 00:50:17.95\00:50:24.16 Jesus is talking to the leaders of the Jewish nation 00:50:24.19\00:50:29.59 and he talks about how they would reject Him 00:50:29.62\00:50:33.79 and nail Him to the cross. Now that was the sin of sins. 00:50:33.82\00:50:38.26 Crucifying the Son of God and then he said. 00:50:38.29\00:50:40.97 "Therefore I tell you, 00:50:41.00\00:50:42.87 that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you, 00:50:42.90\00:50:49.71 and given to a people who will produce its fruit." 00:50:49.74\00:50:53.65 They were the people, the Gentiles 00:50:53.68\00:50:55.63 and believing Jews who accepted Christ. 00:50:55.66\00:50:59.29 When the Jews as a nation nailed Christ to the cross, 00:50:59.32\00:51:04.30 they ceased to be the Israel of God. 00:51:04.33\00:51:09.14 And God had a new Israel. Who is the new Israel? 00:51:09.17\00:51:12.25 Every person Jew and Gentile who put his faith in Christ. 00:51:12.28\00:51:16.95 And Romans 9 says it. 00:51:16.98\00:51:19.33 Now, I'm amazed that evangelicals 00:51:19.36\00:51:21.52 and so many people don't seem to know 00:51:21.55\00:51:23.82 that these texts are in the Bible, 00:51:23.85\00:51:26.13 Romans 9: 6-8, 00:51:26.16\00:51:27.55 that's why I urge people to think for themselves. 00:51:27.58\00:51:30.30 It says, "It is not as though God's word had failed. 00:51:30.33\00:51:33.84 For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. 00:51:33.87\00:51:38.75 Nor because they are his descendants 00:51:38.78\00:51:40.58 are they all Abraham's children. 00:51:40.61\00:51:42.23 On the contrary, it is through Isaac 00:51:42.26\00:51:44.19 that your offspring will be reckoned". 00:51:44.22\00:51:46.54 In other words, it is not the natural children 00:51:46.57\00:51:48.97 who are God's children, 00:51:49.00\00:51:50.03 but it is the children of the promise 00:51:50.06\00:51:52.45 who are regarded as Abraham's offspring. 00:51:52.48\00:51:56.04 If you are a child of the promise, 00:51:56.07\00:51:58.54 you are an Israelite and it says in Galatians, 00:51:58.57\00:52:02.35 it is not the male or female 00:52:02.38\00:52:04.09 neither Jew nor Gentile, but all are one in Christ Jesus. 00:52:04.12\00:52:09.11 And if you belong to Christ, 00:52:09.14\00:52:12.64 these are the words in Galatians, 00:52:12.67\00:52:14.27 you are Abraham's seed. 00:52:14.30\00:52:16.89 How about the reference in Revelation to Zion 00:52:16.92\00:52:19.67 or the New Jerusalem, 00:52:19.70\00:52:20.87 it isn't that what they are looking for. 00:52:20.90\00:52:21.93 It must be interpreted of course 00:52:21.96\00:52:24.73 in a spiritual context. Yes. 00:52:24.76\00:52:27.41 God has an Israel today absolutely 00:52:27.44\00:52:30.00 but its' not over there in the Middle East, 00:52:30.03\00:52:31.88 no not at all. 00:52:31.91\00:52:33.39 The Israel today is made up of Jews and Gentiles, 00:52:33.42\00:52:38.18 black and white every person who has his true faith in Christ 00:52:38.21\00:52:42.49 and if people would understand this, 00:52:42.52\00:52:44.61 then they would be less involved 00:52:44.64\00:52:46.43 in the politics of Middle East. 00:52:46.46\00:52:50.63 And more interested 00:52:50.66\00:52:51.91 in the proclamation of the gospel 00:52:51.94\00:52:54.95 to build the kingdom of God. Amen. 00:52:54.98\00:52:57.65 I have another fellow by the name of Hants 00:52:57.68\00:53:00.51 who writes, and this is a very personal question for him. 00:53:00.54\00:53:04.12 He says, why kneel at the tree the cross or even look at it, 00:53:04.15\00:53:08.51 why not at the grave where Jesus rose from the dead? 00:53:08.54\00:53:11.79 Has the wooden cross become our idol he asked? 00:53:11.82\00:53:15.17 I don't want to kneel at the foot of a tree 00:53:15.20\00:53:17.19 which is only a creation from our Creator. 00:53:17.22\00:53:22.08 Hants, good question, good attitude. 00:53:22.11\00:53:26.38 You are talking I think about idolatry. 00:53:26.41\00:53:28.95 You go to some countries, 00:53:28.98\00:53:30.03 I was down south of the border here, 00:53:30.06\00:53:31.89 down Mexico way. 00:53:31.92\00:53:34.56 I went into a vast cathedral there, 00:53:34.59\00:53:37.81 watched everything, kneeling before images 00:53:37.84\00:53:42.79 also you find it in so called protestant countries, 00:53:42.82\00:53:46.16 but particularly in catholic countries. 00:53:46.19\00:53:49.78 Earnest, good, fine people 00:53:49.81\00:53:52.58 but kneeling down before images, 00:53:52.61\00:53:54.17 maybe that's what Hants is talking about. 00:53:54.20\00:53:56.75 But the Apostle Paul said in the cross of Christ I glory. 00:53:56.78\00:54:02.01 The hymn writer wrote in the cross of Christ 00:54:02.04\00:54:04.04 I glory towering all the wrecks of time. 00:54:04.07\00:54:08.10 But we are not to kneel at the foot of a literal cross, 00:54:08.13\00:54:11.28 we have to kneel at the foot of the spiritual Christ. 00:54:11.31\00:54:16.34 Some people just worship the nails and the splinters 00:54:16.37\00:54:19.87 but we need to worship 00:54:19.90\00:54:21.28 the living Christ who died for us. 00:54:21.31\00:54:24.43 And we need to have a personal experience with Christ. 00:54:24.46\00:54:27.87 Good question. 00:54:27.90\00:54:29.04 Now, I want to fit this one in, we don't have a lot of time, 00:54:29.07\00:54:31.59 it's from Denise, he says 00:54:31.62\00:54:33.53 I'm a grandpa to a sweet girl, 00:54:33.56\00:54:36.36 Me too, me too. But unlike yours. 00:54:36.39\00:54:39.90 Who asked me recently why we say by scripture alone. 00:54:39.93\00:54:44.72 Why do we say Sola scriptura, what does that mean? 00:54:44.75\00:54:47.31 Sola Scripture means that our faith is based 00:54:47.34\00:54:49.68 not upon the teachings of the church. 00:54:49.71\00:54:52.35 Our faith is not based upon a conference. Yes. 00:54:52.38\00:54:55.46 Our faith is not based upon a hierarchy or in establishment. 00:54:55.49\00:54:59.82 It's not based upon the papacy, 00:54:59.85\00:55:01.76 it's not based upon any earthly organization 00:55:01.79\00:55:06.02 it is based upon the Word of God, this is it. Yes. 00:55:06.05\00:55:09.26 Now the Protestants had a great saying we have it too. 00:55:09.29\00:55:12.24 Sola scriptures only Christ, 00:55:12.27\00:55:13.98 Sola scripture, Sola scriptura only the Bible, 00:55:14.01\00:55:18.06 Sola gratia only grace, Sola fide only faith. 00:55:18.09\00:55:22.63 Now, too often you go into churches though 00:55:22.66\00:55:24.75 and they say this but they don't practice it. 00:55:24.78\00:55:27.01 They quote every other author 00:55:27.04\00:55:28.98 and they have other authorities 00:55:29.01\00:55:31.33 rather than the authority of the Bible. 00:55:31.36\00:55:33.73 When we have theological discussions, 00:55:33.76\00:55:35.95 we should be quoting scripture alone 00:55:35.98\00:55:38.88 because this is a source of truth, 00:55:38.91\00:55:41.46 I belong to a church that says 00:55:41.49\00:55:43.71 in its doctrinal statement the Bible 00:55:43.74\00:55:47.97 and the Bible alone is the word-- 00:55:48.00\00:55:51.15 is our word of faith and practice. 00:55:51.18\00:55:54.29 I stand by that 00:55:54.32\00:55:55.98 and I would encourage every person 00:55:56.01\00:55:57.93 not to build upon sinking sand 00:55:57.96\00:56:01.12 but to build upon the living word 00:56:01.15\00:56:03.08 of the living God, so help us God. 00:56:03.11\00:56:04.25 So, grandpa, let's keep teaching the young girl 00:56:04.28\00:56:06.65 to be open and heard all of it. Absolutely. 00:56:06.68\00:56:08.51 Not, just believe what others have to say 00:56:08.54\00:56:10.09 but opening the scriptures. 00:56:10.12\00:56:11.68 Pastor Carter, we thank you for being on the program today. 00:56:11.71\00:56:14.33 It's a pleasure to be able to interview you. 00:56:14.36\00:56:16.61 Oh, pleasure to talk to you. 00:56:16.64\00:56:17.93 And of course we thank you for watching. 00:56:17.96\00:56:20.00 We're asking you, to keep those questions coming. 00:56:20.03\00:56:22.35 Please write to us at John Carter Box 1900, 00:56:22.38\00:56:27.87 Thousand oaks, CA 91358 is the zip code the post code 00:56:27.90\00:56:32.75 or in Australia at the address on your screen 00:56:32.78\00:56:35.10 in Terrigal, New South Wales. 00:56:35.13\00:56:36.98 Until next time may God richly bless you. 00:56:37.01\00:56:41.06
