when I was 17 years of age.

I was a boy going to
Avondale College in Australia.

And an Englishmen came
and he preached on the topic,

"God filled blank."

He said, "Inside every
person there is a blank,

there is an emptiness,
only God can fill it."

When he said this,
I thought to myself

he's talking about me

because I felt
empty and lonely inside.

And then he gave
a series of meetings

all on the gospel of
Christ that God loved people

and Jesus, the son of
God came to this earth

And I was overwhelmed,
I was dazed and amazed

by the revelation
of the love of God.

I gave my life to Christ.

I was overwhelmed back
there by the love of God.

I'm overwhelmed today.

You know I've heard many,
many people talk about the fact

that there is a
place in their life

that seems unfilled. Yeah.

And we hear that from
people in all walks of life.

People who have achieved,

what to our way of
thinking is everything.

And people who are
struggling just to get by

and yet there is
that same feeling

that something is missing.
Why do you think that is?

Well, the great
theologian, Santa Gustin said,

"Our souls were made for God,

and they cannot rest
until they rest in him."

Without God, we are
completely incomplete.

I was a teenager
growing up in Australia.

I was in a home that
was full of religion,

but I hadn't found God.

There is a big difference
state between finding God

and being stuck in religion.

Most people seem to
be stuck in religion.

But I believe that God
revealed Himself to me.

It wasn't a case of my finding,

God was the case, I
felt that God found me.

There is a great poem
where God is described

as the "hound of heaven."
That He pursues us. Yeah.

Down the labyrinthine
ways of their own mind.

We talk about this need
in every human being. Yeah.

And yet there are
those who discounted.

There are those who are actually
evangelists for atheism.

They want to not
only discount God,

but they really
want others as well

is to have in their mind,

the realization
that there is no God.

Let me give you an example.

There is a gentleman by the
name of Dr. Richard Dawkins,

he is a- an
evolutionary biologist.
00:05:43.57\00:05:46.36
He is an avowed atheist.
00:05:46.37\00:05:48.55
He has written several
books attacking Christianity.
00:05:48.56\00:05:53.78
He derides those
who believe in God.
00:05:53.79\00:05:59.33
First of all, why
do you believe in God?

I believe in God
for a number of reasons.

Firstly, God met me
there back in the 1950s,

goodness me.

Fifty Five, fifty six years ago,

God met me.

I believe in God
because of personal experience.

Number two, I believe in God

because of the
overwhelming evidence

that I get out of this book,
this book this called the Bible.

I believe in the
evidence of Bible prophesy,

I've studied the
Bible prophesies Dave,

for many, many
years. I'm forced to believe

that these prophesies
must have been inspired

by someone
bigger than you and I.

And the next
reason I believe in God

as I think
through this question.

It'll be the person of Christ.

He is completely
distinct and unique.

He meets the needs
of the human heart.

marvelous and so wonderful

that He could not be the
figment of human imagination.

He could not have been

He meets the need
of the human heart,

that He is the strongest
reason I have Christ Himself.

that is the reason

I was talking
just a few months ago

to Dr. Hugh Ross, who
was a famous astronomer,

a friend of yours
and a friend of mine.

When he tells me
that a millisecond

after the point of creation,

that scientist
called the big bang,

you can call it what you
like, a big noise or whatever.

But a millisecond
after that he said,

there were four forces
that held the universe together.

Gravity, strong nuclear
force, the weak nuclear force,

But he pointed
out if those forces,

And then I read the Bible story

that He came down in
the person of Christ.

I must believe in Him.

I'm forced by the way of
evidence to believe in Him.

And Richard Dawkins, I
don't doubt his sincerity

or anything like this.
He is a complete atheist.

But Dawkins, one of his
main arguments is this he says,

"I can't believe in God

because of the way
Christians have acted.

It's not a very good argument.

Because some Christians
have acted abominably.

But that's not reason
not to believe in the Christ.

I could say to him Dr. Dawkins,

look how the atheists acted

who believe what you
believe in the Soviet Union.

They've murdered
70 million people.

And so I don't think
his arguments are valid.

But I believe in God
because God believes in me.

with religious people.

he's owed an apology

that has happened to him.

But I think in the human heart

I think in the human heart
there is in with many people

or some people there
is a desire to get away

from the
responsibility that comes

when you believe in God.

You see if there is no God,

and there is no sin.

And there is really no morality

would rather be cast out

unbelief than submit

It's a very bad
choice I believe.

heart of other people.
