and verse 2 tells us,

The beginning of my
journey began with God

in my mid-teens
when the tragic death
00:09:48.93\00:09:51.55
of my best friend
led to my conversion.

I felt called to become
a nurse and to go to Africa
00:09:54.94\00:09:58.27
as a missionary but while
studying at Avondale College,
00:09:58.30\00:10:02.28
God showed me that he had
a different plan for my life.

Ever noticed that
sometimes the God has a plan B?

At Avondale I met a very
talented theology student
00:10:09.17\00:10:13.19
who had the same strong yearning
00:10:13.22\00:10:14.93
for God's work as I did.

It was easy to see
that John had been blessed

with the gifts of
preaching and teaching.

And it was my work to support

and to help him
as much as I could.

Our first 12 years were
spent in country towns running

evangelistic meetings and
also pastoring the churches

until we were sent to our first
big city mission in Melbourne,

which is the second largest
city in Australia, in 1979.

Three of us went
to the Middle East
00:10:47.25\00:10:49.11
to prepare the
ads on archeology.
00:10:49.14\00:10:51.77
John was the
speaker, Pastor Warren Judd,

who is with us and you'll
hear from him in a little while,

he was our television
producer and also the cameraman

and I was the sound operator.

Well I'm not quite
sure how I did that

but Warren was kind
enough to say I did okay.

We visited Egypt, Jordan, Iraq,

and Israel to
gather the material.

And from the
beginning these T.V. ads

brought
thousands to our meetings.

In 1982, we were
invited to conduct

meetings in the
Sydney Opera House.

Now one of the things
that I've always admired

about John is his courage.

Quite a few
said it's impossible.

Nobody will come
to the Opera House

for religious meetings.

Now John sees the
impossible as a challenge

and also as an opportunity
for God to do something big.

And He did. He blessed us with

the largest group of people,
up until that time at least,
00:11:46.10\00:11:49.70
in the Sydney Opera House.

Some time later God
impressed me to suggest

to John that perhaps
God wanted us to take
00:11:56.75\00:11:58.92
a large group of young people
overseas to conduct missions.

And God led us to Manila
in the Philippines in 1984
00:12:03.41\00:12:07.49
and that's when our
overseas work began.

In 1985, we came to
America and the following year
00:12:10.20\00:12:14.45
conducted our first U.S.
crusade in Fort Worth, Texas.

Several years
later we were invited
00:12:19.21\00:12:21.51
by the General
Conference to try evangelism
00:12:21.54\00:12:24.49
in the former
Soviet Union by conducting
00:12:24.52\00:12:27.23
meetings in Moscow in 1991.

Five of us went.

What an experience.

There's a difference
between working in countries

where people have been
exposed to Christianity

they have not been exposed.

While the majority of
people were unbelievers,

communism at least
gave them some structure

in their lives
albeit without freedom.

So when communism fell in
1991, the people were left

with a terrible
void in their lives.

We saw this as they
came to the meetings.

At the first meeting
you did see the emptiness

and the
loneliness in their eyes.

From my vantage point
on the back of the stage

where I stayed
praying through each meeting

I saw the mighty
work of the Holy Spirit

as John and his translator

gave them evidence
to believe in the Bible.

And then as they
introduced the God of the Bible

they began to change.

As they heard the story of Jesus

and His amazing grace
their faces lit up with hope

because they now realized
that there is a creator God

and He loves them very much.

For the past 20 years
that we have been going

to the former Soviet
Union, John and I with our

I have also been
blessed with the opportunity

of visiting orphanages in every
city that we have worked in.

It was on the outskirts
of Kiev where there were

who had been born with
defects and serious illnesses

as a result of their
parents being exposed

to the aftermath of Chernobyl.

This was 1995 and conditions
were still pretty bad.

When I returned to the States

with the help of a great
wonderful group of people

we were able to
obtain 24,000 pounds of
00:14:38.17\00:14:41.05
medical supplies which
was then flown into Kiev,

the capital of Ukraine, by
U.S. military Hercules plane.

gospel around the world.

And I think that
base would be so"

said "I pretty well

covered Australia
and some places twice."

And I said look, "I know three
men that I believe can help you.

These were three administrators

that loved
evangelism and loved the Lord.

I introduced to
him to Cyril Miller

at the 1985 General
Conference down in New Orleans.

And they gave him a
call to come to Fort Worth

but he couldn't
come for six months

because he had a big
meeting that he was holding.

And so they said well, we
can't hold it open that long

so I volunteered to hold
the church for six months

and I became an interim pastor
there until John got there.

I am just so
thrilled that the Lord used us

in a little way to
help encourage his ministry.

But the night I saw
him with you at 3ABN,

I don't believe I've
ever been more excited because

John team up together

was one of the
most exciting things

I've ever seen
in church history.

And I've been around the church

long enough to be
part of the history.

And I saw something just
absolutely astounding and,

in fact, I
called John that night

and I said this is from God.

This is big and it's from God.

And from the time that you
guys got together then we saw

thrilling things take place.

life changing it would be,

I've known a lot of great
speakers had the privilege

I was born and raised here
but came from a home with an

Adventist mother and started
going to church as I grew up.

unfortunately, as I got older

I never quite heard the gospel.
00:29:02.56\00:29:04.90
I never knew what
church really was all about
00:29:04.93\00:29:07.71
or what it was meant to be.

So I soon departed and
stopped going to church.
00:29:09.37\00:29:12.77
I then married and
had a couple of children.
00:29:12.80\00:29:15.49
But in my heart I always
knew that something was missing.

And I knew how
important it was for me as a mom
00:29:19.39\00:29:22.36
to now take my two
children to church.
00:29:22.39\00:29:26.30
But there was nowhere
that I thought I could go

until one day I
turned on the television

and there was an ad.

And there was a
gentleman from Australia

and he was inviting people
to go to the Shrine Auditorium

in Los Angeles to hear
about the amazing discoveries
00:29:38.07\00:29:42.03
of the past world of Egypt.
00:29:42.06\00:29:44.76
And I thought this sounds
really, really interesting.
00:29:44.79\00:29:47.80
I think Javier and I will go.
00:29:47.83\00:29:50.31
And my mom had encouraged us to
go and to attend and to listen.
00:29:50.34\00:29:54.05
And so we did. And when I
got to the Shrine Auditorium

which was a very well
known venue here in Los Angels,
00:29:57.43\00:30:00.84
it's where the
Oscars used to be given.

So I thought this
is-- this can't really be
00:30:03.11\00:30:05.55
a church program because
this is such a famous venue.
00:30:05.58\00:30:09.56
And when we got there,
there was over 20,000 people,
00:30:09.59\00:30:12.60
I thought, wanting to get in.
00:30:12.63\00:30:14.77
And once again I
said I don't think
00:30:14.80\00:30:16.92
this is a church program because
there's too much interest
00:30:16.95\00:30:19.85
and there's too many people.
00:30:19.88\00:30:21.67
But lo and behold, I walked in
00:30:21.70\00:30:23.59
and there was a
speaker from Australia.
00:30:23.62\00:30:25.86
And he started talking about
00:30:25.89\00:30:27.93
the truths of the
Bible and Egypt and history.
00:30:27.96\00:30:31.13
And I just learned so
much, I heard so much.
00:30:31.16\00:30:35.46
And every night
when he finished he said,
00:30:35.49\00:30:38.12
"And you won't want
to miss tomorrow because
00:30:38.15\00:30:40.28
tomorrow is the
most important night."
00:30:40.31\00:30:42.93
And so that was his way
of getting us to come back

every single night which we did.
00:30:45.17\00:30:47.18
And eventually, I knew that
00:30:47.21\00:30:49.06
something was gonna be coming up
or I was going to have to make
00:30:49.09\00:30:52.02
a choice because I
grew up in a church
00:30:52.05\00:30:54.19
and I knew how it worked.
00:30:54.22\00:30:56.09
And so that night came
when an appeal was made
00:30:56.12\00:31:00.14
and I've been
fighting this my whole life.
00:31:00.17\00:31:02.85
But all of a sudden I heard an
appeal to accept Jesus Christ.
00:31:02.88\00:31:07.20
And when I stood
there my heart felt like
00:31:07.23\00:31:10.47
it was going to
rupture in my chest.
00:31:10.50\00:31:13.88
It was beating a
100 miles an hour
00:31:13.91\00:31:16.31
and I knew that
that was the Holy Spirit.
00:31:16.34\00:31:19.19
And I knew that was my
opportunity to stand up and say,
00:31:19.22\00:31:22.01
"Yes, I'll
finally make my decision
00:31:22.04\00:31:24.20
to follow Jesus Christ."
00:31:24.23\00:31:26.10
And so
fortunately, I had the courage
00:31:26.13\00:31:28.61
to stand and so did my husband.
00:31:28.64\00:31:31.13
And we were baptized right after
the conclusion of that campaign.
00:31:31.16\00:31:35.94
And that was in 1990.
00:31:35.97\00:31:38.88
And I started attending church
00:31:38.91\00:31:41.46
and volunteering at
the Carter Report office.
00:31:41.49\00:31:44.00
And three years
later I became involved
00:31:44.03\00:31:46.33
and I started to
work in ministry.
00:31:46.36\00:31:48.69
And that for me has been
the biggest blessing of my life.

I've had the
privilege and the opportunity
00:31:52.54\00:31:55.16
of traveling around the world.

I've been to
Russia over 14 times.

Ukraine. I've been China, India.

I've been to South Africa

and recently to
the Solomon Islands.

And every time that I
go and every time we have

a campaign I see
myself in the audience

and I see the
people that are coming
00:32:15.08\00:32:17.12
and are listening to the word
of God for the very first time.

I see where I was 22 years ago.

And that for me
is so exciting to see

how the Holy Spirit
can turn a life around.

He did it for me and I
get to see it every year

as we go on
crusades around the world.

And so that is
what keeps me going

and that is what the
privilege that I have

of being part of
this wonderful ministry.

of Jesus Christ

baptized and he passed away.
