only just a few weeks ago.

Johannesburg is
really a great city.

It is a city of
some 4 million souls.

It is a city of
affluence, magnificent malls,
00:16:47.80\00:16:52.17
better than we have.

I think here in California,

magnificent motorcars,
00:16:55.88\00:16:57.45
so many good cars and
so many magnificent homes.

It is also a place
of tremendous contrast.

You have dreadful,
dreadful shantytowns.
00:17:10.79\00:17:15.03
Now you have
these magnificent hotels

and magnificent malls
and magnificent theaters,

but you go just
a little distance

and you come upon
these dreadful shantytowns,

where so many people live

in awful, awful,
terrible poverty.

It is also a city
like South Africa itself

of walls and wires.

It's a city. It's
a land of tensions.

South Africa has got to be

one of the most
beautiful countries

in all the world.

When God gave out the
riches, the natural riches,

He gave so much to Africa
and especially to South Africa,

but it is a land
of terrible crime.

We stayed in a very nice hotel,

but we couldn't walk
out the gates of the hotel

and go down to the nearest shop

because they said,

it's not a case of
if you'll be mugged,

it's a case of
how you'll be mugged.

And so, the hotel,

every decent home

is surrounded by a
tremendous, tremendous wall.

And on the top of those
walls, you have electric wire.

So it's very hard to get people,

at least people who
live in those homes,

it's very hard
to get those people

to come out to meetings.

We felt, we were there
for exactly five weeks.

And even though we had
a tremendous experience

and loved those people,

we had been locked up
in a prison for five weeks.

come back to Los Angeles

where it seemed to be

compared with South Africa

Johannesburg, of course,

is the most dangerous
city in all of Africa.

Africa is the most
dangerous continent

in all the world.

And Johannesburg is
the most dangerous city

on the face of the continent.

like us, they need the Lord.

one of the hardest hit

there's perhaps up
to 2 million orphans.

Now these orphans
have four possible options.

Number one, there
are a few institutions,

some good, some not so good.

Two, there are grandmothers

who are taking these
orphans into their homes

and they are doing
all they can to help.
