I have some heroes.

One of my
heroes was a young man,

an Englishman who lived in
England about 250 years ago.

I can never get
this man out of my mind

when I go and do an
evangelistic campaign.

His name was George Whitfield.

I was reading a history of
the United States of America

and there was a
farmer, there was somewhere

in the United
States, because Whitfield

came on occasions to preach
the gospel to the Americans.

And there was a
farmer working in his field
00:07:04.32\00:07:08.79
and all of a sudden
he saw what appeared

to be a tremendous moving smoke
00:07:11.39\00:07:15.11
and he said, "I wonder
what on earth can this be?"

He said, "I
know what it is this.

This is not
smoke, it is dust caused

by the hooves of
thousands of horses."

As people are going to
go and hear this preacher

on that occasion he
was 26 years of age.

We've got young
people in this church

He said, "There was a
vast number of horses."

of people going to hear

like a dying man to dying men.

As he traveled along
with the rest of the people,

This farmer said, "He
looked like an angel."

And he stood there

And he started to
preach the Word of God.

they came a tremendous feeling
of conviction into the audience.

What made this man
such a mighty preacher?

Well, firstly he believed

gospel and he understood

the divine
imperative of evangelism.

That's what drove him on.

These men had a
conviction from God

if you don't have Christ,
