Famous philosopher. 00:04:13.42\00:04:16.23 I've mentioned him, I think, before. 00:04:16.26\00:04:18.18 Who was found lying all disheveled on a park bench. 00:04:18.21\00:04:21.45 He'd slept there the night before. 00:04:21.48\00:04:23.68 The park attendant didn't know that he was a great man, 00:04:23.71\00:04:26.97 took him by the shoulder, 00:04:27.00\00:04:28.37 woke him up and said to him, "who are you?" 00:04:28.40\00:04:30.67 Schopenhauer said, "I wish to God I knew." 00:04:30.70\00:04:35.65 That's the cry of the 21st century. 00:04:35.68\00:04:38.45 I wish to God I knew. 00:04:38.48\00:04:42.35 The greatest sickness of our times, we know, 00:04:42.38\00:04:46.27 is not cancer or heart disease or diabetes, 00:04:46.30\00:04:50.63 even though these are plagues here in North America. 00:04:50.66\00:04:53.60 The greatest sickness of our times is meaninglessness. 00:04:53.63\00:04:58.49 I listened to the great Dawkins, Professor Dawkins, 00:05:01.39\00:05:05.18 who has written the book against God. 00:05:05.21\00:05:07.95 I listened to him being interviewed yesterday. 00:05:07.98\00:05:11.58 A man who said, "No, there's no God." 00:05:11.61\00:05:14.52 But what the man doesn't realize, 00:05:14.55\00:05:16.31 because he knows nothing about philosophy 00:05:16.34\00:05:19.94 or he doesn't understand anything about theology. 00:05:19.97\00:05:23.26 What he doesn't understand is this, 00:05:23.29\00:05:25.09 if there is no God, there is no good. 00:05:25.12\00:05:29.19 And if there is no God, 00:05:29.22\00:05:31.59 everything completely is relative. 00:05:31.62\00:05:36.15 But today we're going to start talking, 00:05:36.18\00:05:38.66 we're gonna do this for a number of weeks. 00:05:38.69\00:05:40.96 We're going to talk about great truths 00:05:40.99\00:05:43.28 that you and I can stake our lives on. 00:05:43.31\00:05:48.80 The first great truth that we're going to discuss today, 00:05:48.83\00:05:52.85 that gives a reason for living is this. 00:05:52.88\00:05:58.02 I believe in Jesus Christ. Amen. 00:05:58.05\00:06:03.86 That's the first and the greatest truth, 00:06:03.89\00:06:06.49 I believe in Jesus Christ. 00:06:06.52\00:06:10.19 And I have strong reasons to tell you 00:06:10.22\00:06:12.42 why I believe in Jesus Christ. 00:06:12.45\00:06:15.22 Please open your Bibles, my dear friends, 00:06:15.25\00:06:17.57 to John chapter 10 and verse 10. 00:06:17.60\00:06:20.80 Dear hearts and gentle people, 00:06:20.83\00:06:22.94 I want you to turn to John chapter 10:10. 00:06:22.97\00:06:28.25 And this will be our theme text. 00:06:28.28\00:06:31.72 John chapter 10-- this is really the heart. 00:06:31.75\00:06:35.01 John chapter 10 and verse 10. 00:06:35.04\00:06:36.92 Jesus said, "The thief comes 00:06:36.95\00:06:39.30 only to steal and kill and destroy. 00:06:39.33\00:06:43.70 I have come that they may have life," say it with me. 00:06:43.73\00:06:47.93 "And have it to the full." 00:06:47.96\00:06:50.60 Now I want you to know today, 00:06:50.63\00:06:52.82 that if a person truly, in his own soul, 00:06:52.85\00:06:56.11 not just up here in the mind, but if a person in his heart, 00:06:56.14\00:07:00.34 and in his soul, if he has Jesus Christ, 00:07:00.37\00:07:04.36 he will have a wonderful, wonderful peace. 00:07:04.39\00:07:07.95 And I want you to know today, 00:07:07.98\00:07:10.56 I believe, I believe in Jesus Christ. 00:07:10.59\00:07:15.43 I believe in Jesus Christ 00:07:15.46\00:07:17.35 because Jesus Christ of Nazareth not was, 00:07:17.38\00:07:22.36 but is, the greatest person 00:07:22.39\00:07:25.88 with the greatest influence for good 00:07:25.91\00:07:29.06 in the history of the human race. 00:07:29.09\00:07:33.08 Far greater than Moses or even St. Paul 00:07:33.11\00:07:37.97 and greater than Mohammed or Buddha. 00:07:38.00\00:07:41.13 The greatest person with the greatest influence 00:07:41.16\00:07:44.85 in the history of the human race. 00:07:44.88\00:07:48.20 How many slaves were there, 00:07:48.23\00:07:53.81 in the Roman Empire in the days of Jesus? 00:07:53.84\00:08:00.07 I only discovered this few years ago. 00:08:00.10\00:08:03.69 How many slaves in the Roman Empire 00:08:03.72\00:08:07.28 when Jesus was preaching 00:08:07.31\00:08:09.46 and when Paul was writing a book on Romans? 00:08:09.49\00:08:12.50 How many slaves? Sixty million. 00:08:12.53\00:08:16.54 Sixty million. A fair slice of the population. 00:08:16.57\00:08:22.10 It was the teachings of Jesus Christ 00:08:22.13\00:08:25.36 that abolished slavery in the Roman Empire 00:08:25.39\00:08:29.26 and has been letting the slaves go free ever since. 00:08:29.29\00:08:34.07 Time Magazine has made this astounding claim 00:08:34.10\00:08:37.85 and I find it almost too hard to believe, 00:08:37.88\00:08:43.32 that there are more slaves today 00:08:43.35\00:08:45.98 than at any other time in history. 00:08:46.01\00:08:49.55 And that's-- I find that hard to believe. 00:08:49.58\00:08:51.36 More than 60 million slaves? 00:08:51.39\00:08:54.89 We know there are millions of slaves in Africa. 00:08:54.92\00:08:58.98 And there are large numbers of slaves right here 00:08:59.01\00:09:02.12 in the United States of America, did you know this? 00:09:02.15\00:09:04.92 Time Magazine gave the evidence. 00:09:04.95\00:09:07.17 Particularly girls who were kidnapped from other countries 00:09:07.20\00:09:10.91 and who were brought here and put in the sex trade. 00:09:10.94\00:09:15.52 Maybe millions, we do know, 00:09:15.55\00:09:18.22 millions and millions and millions around the world. 00:09:18.25\00:09:21.24 In places like Thailand, little girls of eight and nine 00:09:21.27\00:09:25.97 are actually sold by their parents 00:09:26.00\00:09:28.89 into the sex trade as slaves. 00:09:28.92\00:09:33.02 I asked the question, "Who are the people 00:09:33.05\00:09:36.99 who go to the darkest Africa 00:09:37.02\00:09:40.11 and they buy back the slaves?" 00:09:40.14\00:09:42.52 Did you know? 00:09:42.55\00:09:44.00 There are organizations from this country 00:09:44.03\00:09:46.27 that have been in lots of hot water? 00:09:46.30\00:09:48.85 Who had been prosecuted for daring to do 00:09:48.88\00:09:51.77 what they're doing. 00:09:51.80\00:09:53.17 But they go to Africa and they go to places like Sudan 00:09:53.20\00:09:57.04 where you can buy a young man or a young woman for $100. 00:09:57.07\00:10:02.28 And they go with suitcases of dollar bills 00:10:02.31\00:10:05.39 and they buy back thousands and thousands of slaves. 00:10:05.42\00:10:09.85 Are they atheists? No. They are Christians. 00:10:09.88\00:10:14.55 They are people who believe in Christ. 00:10:14.58\00:10:17.64 Because Jesus Christ is the greatest of all liberators. 00:10:17.67\00:10:22.55 Most of you have seen that marvelous movie, 00:10:22.58\00:10:25.43 "Amazing Grace," that talks about 00:10:25.46\00:10:27.51 William Wilberforce and John Newton. 00:10:27.54\00:10:32.77 In the days of Wilberforce and John Newton 00:10:32.80\00:10:36.01 who gave us the great hymn Amazing Grace, 00:10:36.04\00:10:39.61 the British had a great slave trade 00:10:39.64\00:10:41.81 and so did the Americans. 00:10:41.84\00:10:45.37 And so did the Africans. 00:10:45.40\00:10:48.28 The Africans would go out in the bush 00:10:48.31\00:10:51.01 and they would get the slaves 00:10:51.04\00:10:52.68 and then they would sell them to the white people. 00:10:52.71\00:10:55.67 And the white people would take them 00:10:55.70\00:10:57.24 to America or any other place. 00:10:57.27\00:11:00.53 What released the slaves from the British Empire? 00:11:00.56\00:11:05.11 It was the preaching of Christ. 00:11:05.14\00:11:08.56 It was the preaching of the gospel. 00:11:08.59\00:11:11.79 Jesus is the greatest of all liberators. 00:11:11.82\00:11:17.41 I ask you, I say this to the person 00:11:17.44\00:11:21.02 who may be an atheist or an unbeliever, 00:11:21.05\00:11:24.74 like Richard Dawkins, 00:11:24.77\00:11:27.03 because he sneers at the Christian church. 00:11:27.06\00:11:30.45 He laughs at the sex scandals in the Roman Catholic Church. 00:11:30.48\00:11:36.28 I say to him, "What about the Soviet Union?" 00:11:36.31\00:11:40.78 When Christ was thrown out of the Soviet Union 00:11:40.81\00:11:44.42 and communism embraced atheism, militant atheism, 00:11:44.45\00:11:48.59 50 or 60 million people were tortured and put to death. 00:11:48.62\00:11:56.40 It was the story of amazing grace 00:11:56.43\00:12:00.63 that saved millions of people from atheism. 00:12:00.66\00:12:08.56 Jesus, of course, I want the ladies to know, 00:12:08.59\00:12:11.47 is the greatest liberator of women. 00:12:11.50\00:12:15.05 No woman should ever criticize Jesus. 00:12:15.08\00:12:18.29 Because it was Jesus who liberated women 00:12:18.32\00:12:22.24 and if you go to some countries today, 00:12:22.27\00:12:25.12 that are not so far from this country, 00:12:25.15\00:12:27.11 you'll find where women are kept in a very secondary position. 00:12:27.14\00:12:30.98 You know why? 00:12:31.01\00:12:32.38 Because the people, they do not respect Jesus. 00:12:32.41\00:12:35.53 But in those countries like the United States 00:12:35.56\00:12:37.69 where Jesus is respected, there women are completely 00:12:37.72\00:12:41.06 liberated and they have an equality with men 00:12:41.09\00:12:44.18 which they, of course, have been given by God. 00:12:44.21\00:12:47.56 He is the greatest liberator. 00:12:47.59\00:12:49.83 See the hospitals and the orphanages around the world 00:12:49.86\00:12:55.20 that are being built in the name of Jesus. 00:12:55.23\00:12:58.54 Now Willie Jordan preached here last Sabbath. 00:12:58.57\00:13:02.66 Did you enjoy Willie Jordan? Yes. Amen. 00:13:02.69\00:13:07.13 Now Willie Jordan feeds tens of thousands, 00:13:07.16\00:13:10.17 maybe she's fed millions of people during her lifetime, 00:13:10.20\00:13:13.16 I'm sure of it. Downtown Los Angeles. 00:13:13.19\00:13:16.37 What urges Willie Jordan to help the slaves 00:13:16.40\00:13:20.14 and to help the people out on the streets 00:13:20.17\00:13:22.56 and to feed the hungry? 00:13:22.59\00:13:24.11 It is Christ. It is Christ. 00:13:24.14\00:13:27.59 It is because she believes in Christ. 00:13:27.62\00:13:31.09 Because, Jesus, my friend, is the great liberator 00:13:31.12\00:13:35.95 and the greatest benefactor of the human race. 00:13:35.98\00:13:39.08 Listen, "Here is a man 00:13:39.11\00:13:41.84 who was born in an obscure village, 00:13:41.87\00:13:45.59 the child of a peasant woman. 00:13:45.62\00:13:48.94 He grew up in another village. 00:13:48.97\00:13:51.56 He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty. 00:13:51.59\00:13:56.18 Then for three years, He was an itinerant preacher. 00:13:56.21\00:14:01.10 He never owned a home. He never wrote a book. 00:14:01.13\00:14:06.34 He never held an office. He never had a family. 00:14:06.37\00:14:11.00 He never went to college. 00:14:11.03\00:14:13.35 He never put His foot inside a big city. 00:14:13.38\00:14:16.57 He never traveled two hundred miles 00:14:16.60\00:14:19.09 from the place He was born. 00:14:19.12\00:14:21.45 He never did one of the things 00:14:21.48\00:14:23.02 that usually accompany greatness." 00:14:23.05\00:14:26.00 Listen to this line. 00:14:26.03\00:14:27.40 "He had no credentials but Himself." 00:14:27.43\00:14:32.54 Isn't that great? 00:14:32.57\00:14:33.94 He had no credentials but Himself. 00:14:33.97\00:14:38.49 "While still a young man, 00:14:38.52\00:14:40.15 the tide of popular opinion turned against him. 00:14:40.18\00:14:43.01 His friends ran away. One of them denied Him. 00:14:43.04\00:14:46.99 He was turned over to His enemies. 00:14:47.02\00:14:49.34 He went through the mockery of a trial. 00:14:49.37\00:14:51.64 He was nailed upon a cross between two thieves. 00:14:51.67\00:14:54.99 While He was dying, His executioners gambled 00:14:55.02\00:14:59.21 for the only piece of property 00:14:59.24\00:15:01.02 He had on earth, His coat. 00:15:01.05\00:15:04.16 When He was dead, He was laid in a borrowed grave 00:15:04.19\00:15:07.69 through the pity of a friend. 00:15:07.72\00:15:11.97 Nineteen long centuries have come and gone, 00:15:12.00\00:15:14.54 and today He is the centerpiece of the human race 00:15:14.57\00:15:18.09 and leader of the column of progress. 00:15:18.12\00:15:21.83 I am far within the mark 00:15:21.86\00:15:23.82 when I say that all the armies that ever marched, 00:15:23.85\00:15:27.29 all the navies that were ever built, 00:15:27.32\00:15:30.50 all the parliaments that ever sat 00:15:30.53\00:15:33.39 and all the kings that ever reigned, put together, 00:15:33.42\00:15:38.29 have not affected the life of man upon this earth 00:15:38.32\00:15:41.43 as powerfully as has that one solitary life." 00:15:41.46\00:15:49.43 Now, I say this not wishing to be misunderstood, 00:15:49.46\00:15:56.97 but if you go to the land of Israel 00:15:57.00\00:16:01.58 it is officially taught in that land 00:16:01.61\00:16:03.57 that Jesus was an impostor and that Jesus is dead. 00:16:03.60\00:16:09.60 But Jesus is still the greatest friend of Israel. 00:16:11.77\00:16:19.37 The greatest friend. You know why? 00:16:19.40\00:16:22.32 Israel would not exist without Christian America. 00:16:22.35\00:16:28.04 It is because of Christians in this country 00:16:28.07\00:16:33.31 that Israel has a place in the sun. 00:16:33.34\00:16:39.00 And you know another thing that keeps Israel alive? 00:16:39.03\00:16:45.09 All the pilgrims that come from America 00:16:45.12\00:16:48.38 and other parts of the world, 00:16:48.41\00:16:50.98 and those who believe He was an impostor 00:16:51.01\00:16:55.20 show them around and they say, "This is where He was born." 00:16:55.23\00:17:00.03 He is still feeding Israel. 00:17:00.06\00:17:05.84 You can't get rid of Him. 00:17:05.87\00:17:10.31 He is the greatest person with the greatest influence. 00:17:10.34\00:17:15.39 And that is why I believe in Him. 00:17:15.42\00:17:19.52 He is the best, nobody compares. 00:17:19.55\00:17:22.55 Reject Him and you've got nothing. 00:17:22.58\00:17:26.13 He is the best friend of sinners. 00:17:26.16\00:17:28.53 He is the best emancipator of women. 00:17:28.56\00:17:31.95 He is the best protector of children. 00:17:31.98\00:17:36.67 He is the best comforter of discouraged people. 00:17:36.70\00:17:40.81 The best restorer of broken disciples like Peter. 00:17:40.84\00:17:46.31 The best coverer of dirtied lives. 00:17:46.34\00:17:50.52 The best soldier of heaven's armies. 00:17:50.55\00:17:54.61 The best lover of lost men and women. 00:17:54.64\00:17:58.16 The best teacher of saving truth. 00:17:58.19\00:18:01.75 He is without peer. And I believe in Christ. 00:18:01.78\00:18:08.46 I believe in Christ 00:18:10.02\00:18:11.39 because Jesus Christ is either the God man or a raving lunatic. 00:18:11.42\00:18:18.10 C.S. Lewis said, "Don't patronize him." 00:18:21.80\00:18:28.27 People say, "Of course, 00:18:28.30\00:18:30.03 we know he was a good man and a great man." 00:18:30.06\00:18:32.80 Don't give me that gunk. 00:18:32.83\00:18:35.07 Jesus claimed to be God, people who claim to be God 00:18:35.10\00:18:40.16 are crazy unless it's Jesus. 00:18:40.19\00:18:43.69 C.S. Lewis, the great English author 00:18:43.72\00:18:49.12 and defender of the Christian faith 00:18:49.15\00:18:51.25 who was once an atheist, says, 00:18:51.28\00:18:53.88 "It is like a man who claims to be a poached egg." 00:18:53.91\00:19:00.06 Don't say he is a great man and a good man, he is a mad man. 00:19:00.09\00:19:04.61 Notice the statements that Jesus made 00:19:04.64\00:19:07.57 and don't patronize him and say he is a good man 00:19:07.60\00:19:11.47 unless you accept His Godhead. 00:19:11.50\00:19:13.94 Come to John chapter 8 and verse 58. 00:19:13.97\00:19:18.42 John chapter 8 and verse 58. "'I tell you the truth,' 00:19:18.45\00:19:26.08 Jesus answered, 'before Abraham was born, I am!'" 00:19:26.11\00:19:33.02 No wonder the Jews got mad. 00:19:33.05\00:19:34.91 "At this, they picked up stones to stone him, 00:19:34.94\00:19:38.81 but Jesus hid himself, 00:19:38.84\00:19:41.03 slipping away from the temple grounds." 00:19:41.06\00:19:43.62 He said, "I am the almighty God, I am Yahweh Elohim." 00:19:43.65\00:19:51.29 They hated him but they did not say he was crazy. 00:19:51.32\00:19:56.22 Come with me John chapter 6:35, John chapter 6:35. 00:19:56.25\00:20:02.59 "Then Jesus declared, 'I am the bread of life. 00:20:02.62\00:20:06.67 He who comes to me will never go hungry, 00:20:06.70\00:20:09.45 and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.'" 00:20:09.48\00:20:12.87 Look at verse 53 and onwards. 00:20:12.90\00:20:16.44 "Jesus said to them, 'I tell you the truth, 00:20:16.47\00:20:18.62 unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man 00:20:18.65\00:20:21.98 and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 00:20:22.01\00:20:26.91 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, 00:20:26.94\00:20:30.82 and I will raise him up at the last day. 00:20:30.85\00:20:33.38 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 00:20:33.41\00:20:37.25 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood 00:20:37.28\00:20:40.53 remains in me, and I in him. 00:20:40.56\00:20:43.85 Just as the living Father sent me 00:20:43.88\00:20:45.96 and I live because of the Father, 00:20:45.99\00:20:47.65 so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. 00:20:47.68\00:20:51.87 This is the bread that came down from heaven. 00:20:51.90\00:20:55.08 Your forefathers ate manna and died, 00:20:55.11\00:20:57.73 but he who feeds on this bread will live forever.'" 00:20:57.76\00:21:01.93 Please think about it, be logical. 00:21:01.96\00:21:06.03 Think, if I were to say to you today, 00:21:06.06\00:21:11.37 "If you feed on me, you will live forever," 00:21:11.40\00:21:17.20 you would rightly say, "He is insane." 00:21:17.23\00:21:21.45 If I were to say to you today, 00:21:21.48\00:21:23.05 "I am the bread of life that came down from heaven." 00:21:23.08\00:21:26.65 If I were to say to you, 00:21:26.68\00:21:28.05 "You must drink my blood and you must eat my flesh." 00:21:28.08\00:21:32.78 So don't say, as people have said, 00:21:35.94\00:21:38.88 "He is a good man and a nice man 00:21:38.91\00:21:41.91 and we enjoy what He said." 00:21:41.94\00:21:46.17 He is not just a good man, He is the God man. 00:21:46.20\00:21:53.12 And if He is not the God man, He is a mad man. 00:21:53.15\00:21:57.88 That is the alternative. We need to be honest. 00:21:57.91\00:22:01.39 Look at John chapter 14 and verse 6. 00:22:01.42\00:22:04.21 Away with this silly superficial little thinking. 00:22:04.24\00:22:09.57 John chapter 14 and verse 6. 00:22:09.60\00:22:11.99 "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. 00:22:12.02\00:22:15.88 No one comes to the Father except through me.'" 00:22:15.91\00:22:19.12 I am the way. 00:22:19.15\00:22:20.92 Imagine, if I were to say to you today, 00:22:20.95\00:22:22.99 "Follow me, I am the way, I am the truth." 00:22:23.02\00:22:28.24 He didn't say, "I have the truth," 00:22:28.27\00:22:30.20 He said, "I am the truth." 00:22:30.23\00:22:32.05 He didn't say, "I can show you the way to life," 00:22:32.08\00:22:34.70 He says, "I am the life." 00:22:34.73\00:22:38.32 Because he was God. 00:22:38.35\00:22:39.87 Please notice John chapter 8 and verse 12. 00:22:43.15\00:22:48.16 John chapter 8 and verse 12, an astounding text, 00:22:48.19\00:22:52.12 notice it in the Bible and let God talk to your heart today. 00:22:52.15\00:22:57.32 John chapter 8 and verse 12. 00:22:57.35\00:22:59.20 "When Jesus spoke again to the people, 00:22:59.23\00:23:01.40 He said, 'I am the light of the world. 00:23:01.43\00:23:05.65 Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, 00:23:05.68\00:23:08.86 but will have the light of life.'" 00:23:08.89\00:23:11.57 You know what the light of the world is? 00:23:11.60\00:23:13.10 Jesus said these words, "I am the light of the world." 00:23:15.97\00:23:20.67 He was standing outside 00:23:20.70\00:23:23.40 and the rays of the sun were kissing the earth. 00:23:23.43\00:23:28.55 He pointed to the sun and said, "I am the light of the world." 00:23:28.58\00:23:34.19 Could you imagine a man standingup the front 00:23:34.22\00:23:36.34 saying, "I am the sun." 00:23:36.37\00:23:40.29 "I am the light of the world, 00:23:40.32\00:23:43.32 I bring light and life to everything." 00:23:43.35\00:23:49.28 Because He is God. 00:23:49.31\00:23:52.83 Would you come over here, please, 00:23:52.86\00:23:54.23 with me to Luke chapter 20, Matthew, Mark, Luke. 00:23:54.26\00:23:59.24 Luke chapter 20, my dear friends. 00:23:59.27\00:24:02.65 Luke chapter 20 verses 17 to 19. 00:24:02.68\00:24:06.91 So I say to my Hindu friends 00:24:06.94\00:24:09.61 who are watching the telecast in India, 00:24:09.64\00:24:13.06 "Jesus is not just another God. 00:24:13.09\00:24:16.73 Jesus is the one God. He is the true God." 00:24:16.76\00:24:21.48 I say that to my Hindu friends 00:24:21.51\00:24:22.88 who are watching this television program. 00:24:22.91\00:24:25.30 He is not one of your pantheon. 00:24:25.33\00:24:28.95 He is the one great God who made the universe. 00:24:28.98\00:24:33.06 Look at Luke chapter 20 verse 17 and onwards. 00:24:33.09\00:24:36.81 "Jesus looked directly at them and asked, 00:24:36.84\00:24:41.48 'Then what is the meaning of that which is written, 00:24:41.51\00:24:43.69 the stone the builders rejected has become the capstone? 00:24:43.72\00:24:48.54 Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, 00:24:48.57\00:24:52.55 but he on whom it falls will be crushed.'" 00:24:52.58\00:24:56.64 He is the stone, He is the rock. 00:24:56.67\00:25:00.35 If we fall on-- imagine if I said, 00:25:03.11\00:25:05.47 "If you fall on me, you'll be broken to pieces, 00:25:05.50\00:25:10.92 so you can be made again. 00:25:10.95\00:25:12.77 But if I fall on you, you'll be destroyed forever." 00:25:12.80\00:25:16.72 What a statement. The capstone. 00:25:16.75\00:25:20.04 He is the foundation, He is the capstone, 00:25:20.07\00:25:22.86 He is the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. 00:25:22.89\00:25:29.51 He is the-- listen to this, 00:25:29.54\00:25:32.31 Richard Dawkins, listen to this, 00:25:32.34\00:25:35.44 all those in America who are becoming atheists, 00:25:35.47\00:25:39.57 and one of the biggest unspiritual movements 00:25:39.60\00:25:42.92 in America today is the movement from religion to atheism. 00:25:42.95\00:25:47.80 Listen to this. 00:25:50.58\00:25:52.11 There's only one man in history who claimed to be God 00:25:52.14\00:25:55.59 and yet was judged sane by his contemporaries. 00:25:55.62\00:26:00.34 Jesus. 00:26:00.37\00:26:03.91 I believe in Christ because he is God in human flesh. 00:26:03.94\00:26:10.93 I believe in Jesus Christ because-- 00:26:10.96\00:26:14.13 now this is a negative and perhaps 00:26:14.16\00:26:16.12 it should have been a clause in one of the main points. 00:26:16.15\00:26:19.15 Because He is not like many who take His name. 00:26:19.18\00:26:23.45 A young woman came to me and she said, from San Francisco 00:26:28.83\00:26:32.55 "I could never belong to the church or your church. 00:26:32.58\00:26:37.84 And I could never be a Christian, 00:26:37.87\00:26:41.99 because of what the Christians do." 00:26:42.02\00:26:46.82 I said to her, "The Christians are not doing it." 00:26:46.85\00:26:50.55 The pedophiles are not the disciples of Christ. 00:26:55.17\00:27:00.83 Don't confuse Jesus with those who often take His name. 00:27:00.86\00:27:07.76 Don't make that mistake. 00:27:07.79\00:27:09.64 Time Magazine says, "Why being Pope means 00:27:09.67\00:27:13.65 never having to say you're sorry." 00:27:13.68\00:27:16.89 No wonder people say, 00:27:19.44\00:27:21.83 "I don't want to be a member of the church." 00:27:21.86\00:27:25.73 But don't confuse the church with Christ. 00:27:25.76\00:27:30.97 Any church. Any church, any church. 00:27:31.00\00:27:38.16 A turn inside is enough to turn your stomach. 00:27:38.19\00:27:42.92 "Ireland, government reports in the deeply Catholic nation 00:27:42.95\00:27:48.33 last year revealed decades of abuse and cover-up, 00:27:48.36\00:27:52.11 implicating thousands of church officials." 00:27:52.14\00:27:57.55 In Ireland. 00:27:57.58\00:27:58.95 Mexico, "The founder of the Legionaries of Christ, 00:27:58.98\00:28:03.64 a group favored by John Paul II, 00:28:03.67\00:28:06.56 raped young boys and women alike." 00:28:06.59\00:28:11.65 She said to me, "I could never join the church." 00:28:11.68\00:28:14.74 Wisconsin, Boston, Germany, Belgium, 00:28:16.94\00:28:22.88 Austria, Minnesota, Brazil, go on and on. 00:28:22.91\00:28:29.90 I would say, "Do not confuse those who profess, with Christ." 00:28:29.93\00:28:37.17 Then we have terrible scandals. 00:28:39.99\00:28:44.39 Dawkins talks about it in his book, 00:28:44.42\00:28:46.92 why he's against God. 00:28:46.95\00:28:48.64 Dawkins completely misses the point. 00:28:48.67\00:28:51.66 He's a smart guy, but he's not that smart. 00:28:51.69\00:28:54.65 He's tremendously opposed to intelligent design. 00:28:57.31\00:29:01.16 He says, "That's absolutely wrong." 00:29:01.19\00:29:04.58 He said, "It ought to be thrown out, 00:29:04.61\00:29:07.02 it's wrong to teach intelligent design." 00:29:07.05\00:29:11.32 The interviewer said to him, 00:29:11.35\00:29:12.85 "Dr. Dawkins, you don't believe it?" 00:29:12.88\00:29:14.46 "No." "Well," he said, 00:29:14.49\00:29:17.01 "I can see there is design in nature 00:29:17.04\00:29:20.90 and it looks like it comes from an intelligent source." 00:29:20.93\00:29:27.97 He said, "I believe it came from somewhere out in space, 00:29:28.00\00:29:33.15 by some super intelligent people 00:29:33.18\00:29:36.89 and by the method of transpermia, 00:29:36.92\00:29:40.21 it was sent down to this earth." 00:29:40.24\00:29:42.20 So the interviewer who's a great Jewish gentleman, 00:29:45.15\00:29:48.58 absolutely great, he said, "Then, do you believe?" 00:29:48.61\00:29:51.97 Well, he said, "I believe in that intelligent design. 00:29:52.00\00:29:54.61 Intelligent design from a superior race 00:29:54.64\00:29:58.18 out in space." Thank you. 00:29:58.21\00:30:00.31 But Dawkins riles against God because of the inquisition 00:30:05.11\00:30:10.41 and because of these wretched pedophiles. 00:30:10.44\00:30:15.85 Now the inquisition, 00:30:15.88\00:30:18.55 the inquisition done by the church. 00:30:18.58\00:30:23.78 People who profess the name of Jesus 00:30:23.81\00:30:26.09 have done some dreadful things and they still-- 00:30:26.12\00:30:29.55 Don't confuse Jesus with people who come to church. 00:30:33.87\00:30:40.25 Do you know what I'm saying? 00:30:42.03\00:30:44.88 I believe in Christ because of what Christ is, 00:30:44.91\00:30:49.58 not because of what some of his disciples are not. 00:30:49.61\00:30:55.24 Here's a good saying. 00:30:55.27\00:30:57.76 The church, the church has many, 00:30:57.79\00:31:01.68 "The Church has many that God has not 00:31:01.71\00:31:07.42 and God has many the Church has not." 00:31:07.45\00:31:12.09 Do you like that? You understand it. 00:31:12.12\00:31:17.76 The church has got many that God doesn't have. 00:31:17.79\00:31:22.09 And God has got many that the church hasn't got. 00:31:22.12\00:31:25.63 And so don't confuse Jesus with the church. 00:31:25.66\00:31:32.29 I believe in Christ, 00:31:32.32\00:31:33.98 I believe in Jesus not because of some people 00:31:34.01\00:31:39.53 who take his name. 00:31:39.56\00:31:41.36 Jesus is far better than his disciples. 00:31:45.02\00:31:50.44 I believe in Christ, because Christ is the kindest, 00:31:50.47\00:31:55.26 the most loving, the bravest, the purest, the most forgiving, 00:31:55.29\00:32:00.58 the most reliable person who ever lived. 00:32:00.61\00:32:05.77 He is the real thing, He is the best. 00:32:05.80\00:32:11.25 Come over here to John chapter 8 verses 1 to 11. 00:32:11.28\00:32:16.82 As he went along, John chapter 8, I got John 9. 00:32:16.85\00:32:21.93 John chapter 8, "But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 00:32:21.96\00:32:25.23 At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, 00:32:25.26\00:32:28.39 where all the people gathered around him, 00:32:28.42\00:32:30.47 and he sat down to teach them. 00:32:30.50\00:32:31.91 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees--" 00:32:31.94\00:32:34.17 Here they come, the super religious, 00:32:34.20\00:32:36.82 here they come. The writers from hell. 00:32:36.85\00:32:41.17 "The teachers of the law and the Pharisees 00:32:41.20\00:32:43.70 brought in a woman caught in adultery." 00:32:43.73\00:32:45.44 Have you ever wondered how they caught her? God it's me. 00:32:45.47\00:32:50.20 Well, we have an idea how they caught her, 00:32:50.23\00:32:52.45 it was a put up thing. 00:32:52.48\00:32:54.41 One of their members was doing the deed. 00:32:54.44\00:33:00.82 And so they caught her, 00:33:00.85\00:33:02.75 but they didn't bring in a man 00:33:02.78\00:33:04.44 who was caught in adultery, did they? 00:33:04.47\00:33:06.63 They didn't say, "here comes Rabbi 00:33:06.66\00:33:08.69 who was caught in adultery." They bring in this woman. 00:33:08.72\00:33:11.58 Why is that women have always got 00:33:11.61\00:33:13.53 the wrong end of the pineapple? 00:33:13.56\00:33:17.69 That's the rough end, why that? You know why? 00:33:17.72\00:33:21.99 Because people don't follow Jesus, that's the reason. 00:33:22.02\00:33:26.85 And when you go to those countries, I tell you, 00:33:26.88\00:33:29.00 these countries that are really, is the word "macho?" 00:33:29.03\00:33:33.79 and women are put down. 00:33:33.82\00:33:38.07 A man said to me once, it's good if you-- 00:33:38.10\00:33:40.54 wives, he was talking about wives, 00:33:40.57\00:33:42.70 marry a woman from such and such a country, 00:33:42.73\00:33:45.24 because they're so subservient. 00:33:45.27\00:33:47.81 They're brought up, they're bashed around. 00:33:47.84\00:33:49.80 If the husband-- "yes, yes, yes, yes--" 00:33:49.83\00:33:53.79 That's not Jesus, that's not Jesus. 00:33:53.82\00:33:57.35 That's the devil. 00:33:57.38\00:34:00.53 And I've seen it here in the United States of America, 00:34:00.56\00:34:02.92 I've had people coming along to me 00:34:02.95\00:34:04.60 and they've said awful things about women. 00:34:04.63\00:34:08.85 They've treated women like second rate-- 00:34:08.88\00:34:11.16 I said, "Don't you know 00:34:11.19\00:34:12.56 that's wrong?" That's our culture. 00:34:12.59\00:34:15.29 Yeah, yeah, cultures of the devil. Hear it? 00:34:15.32\00:34:19.02 Oh, you want me to say it again. 00:34:19.05\00:34:20.64 Your culture's of the devil if it puts down women. 00:34:20.67\00:34:26.18 So they grabbed this woman, dragged her along to Jesus. 00:34:26.21\00:34:31.85 Verse 5, can't you imagine them? 00:34:31.88\00:34:35.23 "'In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women.'" 00:34:35.26\00:34:40.19 The more pious they get, usually, the worse they are. 00:34:40.22\00:34:43.61 "'Now what do you say?' 00:34:43.64\00:34:45.02 They were using this question as a trap, 00:34:45.05\00:34:46.87 in order to have a basis for accusing him. 00:34:46.90\00:34:49.33 But Jesus bent down 00:34:49.36\00:34:50.73 and started to write on the ground with his finger. 00:34:50.76\00:34:53.60 When they kept on questioning him, 00:34:53.63\00:34:55.66 he straightened up and said to them, 00:34:55.69\00:34:57.31 'If any one of you is without sin, 00:34:57.34\00:34:59.80 let him be the first to throw a stone at her.' 00:34:59.83\00:35:03.14 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground." 00:35:03.17\00:35:05.81 I wonder what he was writing. 00:35:05.84\00:35:07.45 The times and the dates and the names? 00:35:07.48\00:35:12.10 "At this, those who heard 00:35:12.13\00:35:13.60 began to go away one at a time, the older ones first." 00:35:13.63\00:35:18.39 Well, there you are, the older ones too. 00:35:18.42\00:35:21.04 "Until only Jesus was left 00:35:21.07\00:35:22.93 with the woman still standing there. 00:35:22.96\00:35:24.80 Jesus straightened up and asked her, 00:35:24.83\00:35:26.51 'Woman, where are they? 00:35:26.54\00:35:28.10 Has no one condemned you?' 'No one, sir,' she said. 00:35:28.13\00:35:31.22 'Then neither do I condemn you,' Jesus declared. 00:35:31.25\00:35:34.58 'Go and leave your life of sin.'" 00:35:34.61\00:35:39.68 Can you imagine a wiser person, 00:35:39.71\00:35:42.82 a better person, a kinder person? 00:35:42.85\00:35:49.17 You know how Jesus dealt with the children? 00:35:49.20\00:35:52.76 Disciples say, "They're making too much noise, 00:35:52.79\00:35:54.60 put them out, don't want them here today." 00:35:54.63\00:35:58.47 Jesus said, "Suffer--" 00:35:58.50\00:35:59.95 It says in the KJV, it's the old English word, 00:35:59.98\00:36:02.89 it means, "allow the little children to come unto me." 00:36:02.92\00:36:08.20 You can usually tell if a person is a good person 00:36:08.23\00:36:12.43 if two types of life like that person, 00:36:12.46\00:36:18.85 dogs and children. Now if dogs don't like you, 00:36:18.88\00:36:23.38 it's usually because the dogs might be quite smart. 00:36:23.41\00:36:28.36 If dogs don't--generally if a dog doesn't like you, 00:36:28.39\00:36:34.69 and kids don't like you. But children love Jesus. 00:36:34.72\00:36:41.00 Because Jesus was not religious in the normal sense of the term. 00:36:41.03\00:36:48.24 Think of how when Mary came and Mary was anointing his feet, 00:36:48.27\00:36:55.40 pouring this wonderful perfume on him. 00:36:55.43\00:36:59.34 And the disciples, all born Pharisees, 00:36:59.37\00:37:03.01 were all upset. 00:37:03.04\00:37:05.37 And they started to criticize, 00:37:05.40\00:37:06.91 "well, this money could have gone 00:37:06.94\00:37:08.31 into the church building fund. 00:37:08.34\00:37:11.64 Oh, we could have fed a lot of poor with this money." 00:37:11.67\00:37:17.53 Some great words Jesus said, "Let her alone." 00:37:17.56\00:37:22.95 Three words, "Let her alone." 00:37:22.98\00:37:29.18 He's a good person, the best. 00:37:29.21\00:37:33.40 I like how he confronted 00:37:33.43\00:37:35.48 the religious leaders of his day. 00:37:35.51\00:37:37.45 Now we don't wanna try to emulate this, 00:37:37.48\00:37:39.48 because we're not Jesus. 00:37:39.51\00:37:40.88 And we don't have the love that He's got, 00:37:40.91\00:37:42.72 but come over here to Matthew 23, 00:37:42.75\00:37:45.16 and notice how he dealt with the religious leaders. 00:37:45.19\00:37:50.59 Matthew 23 verse 25 and onwards. 00:37:50.62\00:37:55.65 Matthew 23, "Woe to you, 00:37:55.68\00:37:57.83 teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! 00:37:57.86\00:38:02.07 You clean the outside of the dish and cup, 00:38:02.10\00:38:04.71 but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 00:38:04.74\00:38:09.54 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, 00:38:09.57\00:38:14.97 and then the outside also will be clean." 00:38:15.00\00:38:17.81 No namby pamby is Jesus. 00:38:17.84\00:38:20.91 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! 00:38:20.94\00:38:26.44 You are like whitewashed tombs, 00:38:26.47\00:38:28.53 which look beautiful on the outside 00:38:28.56\00:38:31.17 but on the inside are full of dead men's bones 00:38:31.20\00:38:37.26 and everything unclean. 00:38:37.29\00:38:41.37 In the same way, on the outside 00:38:41.40\00:38:43.30 you appear to people as righteous 00:38:43.33\00:38:45.47 but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness." 00:38:45.50\00:38:51.80 Verse 33, "You snakes! You brood of vipers! 00:38:51.83\00:38:57.61 How will you escape being condemned to hell?" 00:38:57.64\00:39:02.38 I believe in the little ditty, 00:39:06.61\00:39:09.47 "Gentle Jesus, Meek and Mild, Look upon our little child." 00:39:09.54\00:39:16.89 Find to teach little children that, 00:39:16.92\00:39:19.93 but that is not the whole story. 00:39:19.96\00:39:24.86 Jesus was the one, true, great, real man, 00:39:24.89\00:39:31.88 that the world has ever seen. 00:39:31.91\00:39:35.00 And who were these Pharisees? 00:39:35.03\00:39:37.29 They were the power brokers, they were the big guys, 00:39:37.32\00:39:41.18 they were the guys who ran the church, 00:39:41.21\00:39:44.25 they were the super religious people, 00:39:44.28\00:39:46.81 they were the people who, inside-- 00:39:46.84\00:39:49.21 they were rotten inside 00:39:49.24\00:39:50.75 but they put on a great show on the outside. 00:39:50.78\00:39:54.95 Jesus was one man against the whole mob. 00:39:54.98\00:40:00.43 And when they're attacking the people of God, 00:40:00.46\00:40:04.42 he turned and Jesus never had a kind word 00:40:04.45\00:40:09.46 to a religious Pharisee who was a hypocrite. 00:40:09.49\00:40:13.93 Jesus looked him in the eye and said, 00:40:13.96\00:40:16.77 "You're a bunch of snakes." 00:40:16.80\00:40:21.26 I don't know how Jesus-- Well, I do think, I don't know. 00:40:21.29\00:40:24.08 I don't think Jesus would get on too well today 00:40:24.11\00:40:29.20 because Jesus was not suave. 00:40:29.23\00:40:32.60 Jesus was not politically correct. 00:40:32.63\00:40:36.94 Jesus was not a politician. 00:40:36.97\00:40:40.84 Jesus didn't go around schmoozing people. 00:40:40.87\00:40:45.47 When I came to California, 00:40:45.50\00:40:47.34 a prominent religious leader took me aside. 00:40:47.37\00:40:50.06 He said, "Brother John, you have a heart for God." 00:40:50.09\00:40:53.80 I thought, "Oh, my, what's gonna come now?" 00:40:53.83\00:40:56.05 He said "You need to raise money." 00:40:56.08\00:40:59.01 Yes, of course, I know. 00:40:59.04\00:41:01.40 You didn't need to tell me that, 00:41:01.43\00:41:02.80 how am I gonna pay for all this? I know that. 00:41:02.83\00:41:04.64 He said, "I'll teach you how to schmooze people." 00:41:04.67\00:41:09.57 I said, "What's that? 00:41:09.60\00:41:11.40 It sounds like something filthy." 00:41:11.43\00:41:14.22 "Oh," he said, "I do it all the time. 00:41:14.25\00:41:17.24 You just got to get rid of some of those mannerisms, 00:41:17.27\00:41:20.85 particularly those Australianisms 00:41:20.88\00:41:24.66 and you got to learn to schmooze." 00:41:24.69\00:41:28.52 Well, he's been schmoozing all his life. 00:41:33.28\00:41:38.14 Nobody likes him or trusts him. 00:41:38.17\00:41:42.87 Jesus was not a schmoozer. 00:41:42.90\00:41:47.46 Jesus loved people too much. He wanted people to be saved. 00:41:47.49\00:41:52.76 I want to tell you, folks. Look at me. 00:41:52.79\00:41:57.00 I know that some Americans don't like plain talk, I know that. 00:41:57.03\00:42:01.62 I know that some Australians don't like plain talk, either. 00:42:01.65\00:42:05.21 But I'm afraid, I am what I am. 00:42:05.24\00:42:08.17 With all the wart and everything that come with it. 00:42:08.20\00:42:11.71 But I want to tell you something. 00:42:11.74\00:42:14.24 My job is not to get you to like me and say, 00:42:14.27\00:42:18.67 "Oh, he was so funny today. Isn't he cute?" 00:42:18.70\00:42:23.84 I've never been called cute. 00:42:23.87\00:42:27.34 My job is to get you into heaven. 00:42:27.37\00:42:31.57 What are you gonna say to the cute pastor 00:42:31.60\00:42:34.25 who gets you into hell? 00:42:34.28\00:42:38.07 When you'd lean over, you say, "How's the fire, brother? 00:42:38.10\00:42:40.41 Isn't it great?" Gonna say that? 00:42:40.44\00:42:44.16 Jesus was as straight as an arrow. 00:42:44.19\00:42:50.01 He was the real thing and I believe in Christ. 00:42:52.95\00:43:00.57 Jesus Christ is the fulfillment 00:43:00.60\00:43:03.13 of all the Old Testament messianic prophecies. 00:43:03.16\00:43:06.31 I say this to my Jewish friends. 00:43:06.34\00:43:09.01 I've a great Jewish doctor, just a great friend of mine. 00:43:09.04\00:43:12.42 I'm going to invite him to church. 00:43:12.45\00:43:14.85 I said, "would you like to?" 00:43:14.88\00:43:16.25 He said, "I'd love to come to church." 00:43:16.28\00:43:17.65 I said, "Then I'll take you to Javier's place." 00:43:17.68\00:43:19.37 I haven't told Javier. 00:43:19.40\00:43:20.77 I said, "And we'll have 00:43:20.80\00:43:22.17 some great Jewish food and we'll see." 00:43:22.20\00:43:24.15 I said, "I have a wonderful group of people." 00:43:24.18\00:43:27.86 I said this. "I'll introduce you to Bert. 00:43:27.89\00:43:30.84 And Bert that day will wear his little hat. 00:43:30.87\00:43:33.12 And I said, "Also Blake." 00:43:33.15\00:43:34.69 I said, "Blake looks more like a Jew 00:43:34.72\00:43:37.00 than a Jew ought to look like a Jew." 00:43:37.03\00:43:42.01 One of my Jewish doctors said to me, 00:43:42.04\00:43:45.18 when I talked to him about these prophecies, 00:43:45.21\00:43:47.02 he said, "You know what our problem is?" 00:43:47.05\00:43:49.25 He didn't say, "You're wrong," 00:43:49.28\00:43:53.20 he said, "Some of us are dreadfully stubborn." 00:43:53.23\00:43:56.68 We don't want to see these things. 00:43:56.71\00:43:59.56 Yeah, not only the Jews are dreadfully stubborn, 00:43:59.59\00:44:01.71 I have Christian friends who are dreadfully stubborn. 00:44:01.74\00:44:04.46 That hear the word of the God, 00:44:04.49\00:44:05.94 they know what's going on, 00:44:05.97\00:44:07.45 they know what they ought to do, 00:44:07.48\00:44:08.85 but they say, "No. Not gonna do it." 00:44:08.88\00:44:13.66 If you hear truth, I don't care what it is. 00:44:13.69\00:44:16.48 My friends sitting down the front, of all of you. 00:44:16.51\00:44:18.32 If you hear truth and if you harden your mind, 00:44:18.35\00:44:22.33 week after week, to the truth, you commit the unpardonable sin. 00:44:22.36\00:44:26.61 You can commit the unpardonable sin in this church. 00:44:26.64\00:44:30.48 This is the best place to commit it. Why? 00:44:30.51\00:44:35.84 Because the word is preached with power. 00:44:35.87\00:44:37.49 If you go along to a church and you hear sweet nothings. 00:44:37.52\00:44:41.13 you probably won't even be brought to conviction. 00:44:41.16\00:44:43.71 But if the spirit of God brings you to conviction 00:44:43.74\00:44:47.06 on a certain subject, and you say, 00:44:47.09\00:44:49.41 "No, I'm not going to do it. 00:44:49.44\00:44:50.81 Not gonna do it. Not gonna do it." 00:44:50.84\00:44:52.50 You're gonna come to the place 00:44:52.53\00:44:54.00 when I'm preaching or somebody else is preaching 00:44:54.03\00:44:56.54 under the power of the Holy Spirit 00:44:56.57\00:44:58.41 and your heart is going to get like a rock. 00:44:58.44\00:45:01.16 That's the unpardonable sin. 00:45:04.08\00:45:08.00 The place where you commit the unpardonable sin, 00:45:08.03\00:45:11.53 it's not on Hollywood boulevard, but in church, usually. 00:45:11.56\00:45:16.31 You didn't know that? 00:45:16.34\00:45:17.71 Well, just think it through, would you? 00:45:17.74\00:45:20.98 Jesus is the only one who fulfills the prophecies. 00:45:21.01\00:45:24.80 Come quickly to Isaiah 53. There's nobody else. 00:45:24.83\00:45:28.71 So as my dear doctor said, you know, 00:45:28.74\00:45:31.73 looks right but we're just stubborn people. 00:45:31.76\00:45:36.59 Well, you better get over your stubbornness. 00:45:36.62\00:45:39.90 Isaiah 53, verses 3 and onwards, 00:45:39.93\00:45:42.11 "He was despised and rejected by men, 00:45:42.14\00:45:44.92 a man of sorrows and familiar with suffering." 00:45:44.95\00:45:47.66 Only one person fulfills these verses. 00:45:47.69\00:45:49.96 "Like one from whom men hide their faces, 00:45:49.99\00:45:52.03 he was despised and we esteemed him not." 00:45:52.06\00:45:55.51 Nobody else, only Jesus. 00:45:55.54\00:45:57.55 "Surely he took up our infirmities 00:45:57.58\00:45:59.36 and carried our sorrows, 00:45:59.39\00:46:01.20 yet we considered him stricken by god, 00:46:01.23\00:46:03.72 smitten by him and afflicted. 00:46:03.75\00:46:06.40 But he was pierced," crucified, "for our transgressions, 00:46:06.43\00:46:10.28 he was crushed for our iniquities. 00:46:10.31\00:46:12.52 The punishment that brought us peace was upon him 00:46:12.55\00:46:15.55 and by his wounds we are healed." 00:46:15.58\00:46:17.42 Nobody else in history but Jesus. 00:46:17.45\00:46:20.64 I say to my Jewish friends, nobody else. This is your book. 00:46:20.67\00:46:24.28 This is your Jewish prophet Isaiah, 00:46:24.31\00:46:26.56 nobody else. It's Jesus. 00:46:26.59\00:46:28.85 I believe in Jesus Christ. Look at verse 11. 00:46:28.88\00:46:34.17 "After the suffering of his soul, 00:46:34.20\00:46:36.98 he will see the life and be satisfied." 00:46:37.01\00:46:40.84 That means he'll be resurrected. 00:46:40.87\00:46:43.38 He'll see eternity. And he was-- 00:46:43.41\00:46:48.83 Come over to Daniel 9 verse 25. 00:46:48.86\00:46:51.87 I was down at the western wall in Jerusalem, 00:46:51.90\00:46:55.43 and I love the Jewish people and I love Jerusalem 00:46:55.46\00:47:00.00 and I was down at the western wall, 00:47:00.03\00:47:02.56 and as some of you folks know, tact is not my second name. 00:47:02.59\00:47:07.96 And I went along to a rabbi and I opened up my Bible 00:47:07.99\00:47:11.57 and I read to him from Daniel 9, this verse, 25. 00:47:11.60\00:47:16.42 I said, "Rabbi, I'm a visitor. I'm not a trouble maker. 00:47:16.45\00:47:22.20 I'm not trying to embarrass you. Explain it to me." 00:47:22.23\00:47:25.44 Well, he never explained it to me. 00:47:29.73\00:47:31.93 He asked me to get out of there. 00:47:31.96\00:47:34.78 But I want you to know something, 00:47:34.81\00:47:37.47 whether I get out of there or not, 00:47:37.50\00:47:38.91 or whether he explains it or not, 00:47:38.94\00:47:40.59 it's still written down there, it's there. 00:47:40.62\00:47:44.38 You can run away, you can criticize, 00:47:44.41\00:47:46.50 you can get mad, you can fight with people, 00:47:46.53\00:47:48.64 but you can't get away from it. 00:47:48.67\00:47:50.53 Verse 25, "Know and understand this, 00:47:50.56\00:47:52.90 from the issuing of the decree," 00:47:52.93\00:47:55.23 457 BC "to restore and rebuild Jerusalem 00:47:55.26\00:47:59.08 until the anointed one," 00:47:59.11\00:48:00.99 it's the same in the Jewish Bible. 00:48:01.02\00:48:03.18 Until the messiah comes, 00:48:03.21\00:48:04.58 "the ruler comes, there will be seven 'sevens,' 00:48:04.61\00:48:06.93 and sixty-two 'sevens'" or 483 years. 00:48:06.96\00:48:12.46 The Bible says that from this decree 00:48:12.49\00:48:16.40 by Artaxerxes Longimanus in 457, 00:48:16.43\00:48:21.14 there would be a period of 483 years and in 27 A.D., 00:48:21.17\00:48:28.98 Jesus walked down the muddy banks 00:48:29.01\00:48:31.78 into the river Jordan and said, 00:48:31.81\00:48:36.01 "The time is fulfilled 00:48:36.04\00:48:39.12 and the kingdom of heaven is at hand." 00:48:39.15\00:48:42.73 Now if you're waiting for Jesus to come as the messiah, 00:48:46.59\00:48:50.31 you're 2,000 years too late because he came. 00:48:50.34\00:48:54.89 According to the Jewish prophecies, 00:48:54.92\00:48:58.73 in a Jewish book, about a Jewish messiah. 00:48:58.76\00:49:03.53 We don't want to be too hard on the Jews, my friend, 00:49:03.56\00:49:06.51 because a lot of us just the same. 00:49:06.54\00:49:13.78 We want to hold on to our traditions. 00:49:13.81\00:49:16.47 We don't want to be disturbed. 00:49:16.50\00:49:18.22 That was the problem with Judaism. 00:49:18.25\00:49:20.59 It was so entrenched 00:49:20.62\00:49:21.99 and they didn't want to be disturbed. 00:49:22.02\00:49:24.60 Some people have said to me, "We like what you do, 00:49:24.63\00:49:28.65 but we don't want to be disturbed." 00:49:28.68\00:49:32.94 If you're not disturbed now, 00:49:32.97\00:49:35.20 you're gonna disturbed when the fire falls from heaven. 00:49:35.23\00:49:42.08 You better believe it. I believe in Jesus. 00:49:42.11\00:49:47.88 I believe in Christ because only one man 00:49:47.91\00:49:51.55 in all history fulfills all the messianic prophecies. 00:49:51.58\00:49:56.48 I believe in Christ. 00:49:56.51\00:49:59.13 This I believe because Christ is the healer of broken hearts 00:49:59.16\00:50:04.67 and the mender of broken dreams. 00:50:04.70\00:50:10.27 Now Danny Shelton is a good friend of mine. 00:50:10.30\00:50:13.61 I love Danny, known him for about 25, 26 years. 00:50:13.64\00:50:19.77 We've been broadcasting about the longest 00:50:19.80\00:50:21.91 of any ministry on 3ABN.
