From Arcadia California, the Carter report presents 00:00:07.93\00:00:10.95 'The Living Word' around the world. 00:00:10.98\00:00:18.51 Today I am going to tell you about the man 00:00:18.54\00:00:20.92 who could have been in the Cairo Museum, 00:00:20.95\00:00:24.03 in the Royal Mummy Room. 00:00:24.06\00:00:26.57 I was in that room just a little while ago. 00:00:26.60\00:00:30.15 I am not telling about just being in the room. 00:00:30.18\00:00:32.94 I'm talking about being a mummy in the room. 00:00:32.97\00:00:35.87 And this man could have been a mummy 00:00:35.90\00:00:39.09 in the Royal Mummy Room with Thutmose, Hatshepsut, 00:00:39.12\00:00:43.03 and some of these great personalities of ancient Egypt, 00:00:43.06\00:00:46.23 but today he is home with Jesus in glory. 00:00:46.26\00:00:52.05 That's the top today. 00:00:52.08\00:00:53.79 But before I talk about the great personality Moses. 00:00:53.82\00:00:58.50 Would you please welcome my wife Beverley, 00:00:58.53\00:01:00.78 who has a special message for all of us today. 00:01:00.81\00:01:08.78 Good morning everyone. Good morning. 00:01:10.20\00:01:12.86 This is a question that has come in from our website. 00:01:12.89\00:01:16.63 I have a friend who has just joined 00:01:16.66\00:01:19.26 what I called a prosperity gospel church. 00:01:19.29\00:01:22.31 And we often have good Bible discussion. 00:01:22.34\00:01:24.73 However at the moment 00:01:24.76\00:01:26.66 our friendship has become somewhat strained 00:01:26.69\00:01:29.31 as we're discussing two texts from John 15:7 and 16. 00:01:29.34\00:01:35.80 They say that whatever we ask the Father 00:01:35.90\00:01:38.94 it will be given to us. 00:01:38.97\00:01:41.13 Now my friend says that covers everything, 00:01:41.16\00:01:44.10 possessions, wealth etc. 00:01:44.13\00:01:46.04 Even though the text seem to say that, 00:01:46.07\00:01:48.98 I've found that it doesn't always happen to me. 00:01:49.01\00:01:52.41 God often says, no. 00:01:52.44\00:01:54.91 I'm little perplexed, can you give me some help. 00:01:54.94\00:01:58.26 I appreciate how you and your husband 00:01:58.29\00:02:00.48 always the use Bible to teach truth, signed, Peter. 00:02:00.51\00:02:04.77 Well, let me share a few thoughts 00:02:04.80\00:02:07.04 that I have learnt from John 15. 00:02:07.07\00:02:09.33 In fact, we actually studied this chapter in our prayer 00:02:09.36\00:02:12.25 breakfast this morning here at our church. 00:02:12.28\00:02:14.95 In verses, verse 7 and 16, they say, 00:02:14.98\00:02:19.06 "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, 00:02:19.09\00:02:22.20 ask whatever you wish, and it will be given to you. 00:02:22.23\00:02:25.77 Verse 16 "You did not choose me, 00:02:25.80\00:02:28.14 but I chose you to go and bear fruit. 00:02:28.17\00:02:30.84 Fruit that will lust then the Father will give you 00:02:30.87\00:02:34.46 whatever you ask in My name." 00:02:34.49\00:02:37.33 Now preachers tell us 00:02:37.36\00:02:38.73 that a text without the context is a pretext. 00:02:38.76\00:02:41.55 So we have to read the whole chapter 00:02:41.58\00:02:43.95 to get the answer behind these two texts. 00:02:43.98\00:02:48.09 In John 15:1 to 6, Jesus declares 00:02:48.12\00:02:51.37 that He is the true wine, 00:02:51.40\00:02:53.29 and His disciples are the branches. 00:02:53.32\00:02:55.73 Now the Jewish people that He was speaking to, 00:02:55.76\00:02:57.93 they understood this 00:02:57.96\00:02:59.33 because there are many vineyards in Israel. 00:02:59.36\00:03:01.16 This image shows how our lives depend on our union with Christ. 00:03:01.19\00:03:07.48 Verse 2 of John 15 talks about pruning, it says, 00:03:07.51\00:03:12.00 God trims and prunes every branch that bears good fruit. 00:03:12.03\00:03:17.30 So that it will become even more fruitful 00:03:17.33\00:03:20.17 and there in that picture you can see 00:03:20.20\00:03:21.99 that often they have to cut you know right back to the vine 00:03:22.02\00:03:25.51 So that it will bear more and better fruit. 00:03:25.54\00:03:28.92 Now this pruning process is often painful, 00:03:28.95\00:03:34.47 and it tells us that life is not without trials 00:03:34.50\00:03:39.16 and that's good point Peter to tell your friend. 00:03:39.19\00:03:41.89 This is the first clue to the answer of these promises. 00:03:41.92\00:03:46.47 They tell us or this clue tell us that these promises 00:03:46.50\00:03:51.20 are not for our physical lives, but rather our spiritual lives. 00:03:51.23\00:03:56.46 The Father's pruning is for the sake of growth 00:03:56.49\00:04:00.81 which suggest the Christian life is not stagnant, 00:04:00.84\00:04:04.64 but it's vibrant with activity. 00:04:04.67\00:04:06.69 And as you look at those beautiful grapes on the vine, 00:04:06.72\00:04:08.90 I mean don't they look gorgeous. 00:04:08.93\00:04:10.47 And that's what God wants to see in our lives. 00:04:10.50\00:04:13.39 Jesus says in verse 5, "Remain in me and I remain in you." 00:04:13.42\00:04:18.33 How does this work to remain in Him. 00:04:18.36\00:04:21.03 I have to constantly walk with Him 00:04:21.06\00:04:23.30 through obedience to His word. 00:04:23.33\00:04:26.11 Keeping in step with Him brings me great joy. 00:04:26.14\00:04:29.42 It says in verse 11, "I have told you this so that 00:04:29.45\00:04:32.26 my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete." 00:04:32.29\00:04:36.50 Now does our Christian experience give us a headache 00:04:36.53\00:04:40.61 or does it make us joyful? 00:04:40.64\00:04:42.85 And that's a good test, 00:04:42.88\00:04:44.67 and if it gives us a headache if we're not, 00:04:44.70\00:04:46.54 if it's not bringing us joy when need to get back down 00:04:46.57\00:04:49.87 on your knees and into God's word. 00:04:49.90\00:04:52.95 When we come in union with Jesus 00:04:52.98\00:04:55.66 and seek to do His will. 00:04:55.69\00:04:57.88 God will then answer our prayers, 00:04:57.91\00:05:00.68 because we will be now praying for His purposes 00:05:00.71\00:05:05.21 rather than our own selfish desires. 00:05:05.24\00:05:08.21 And this is the second clue. 00:05:08.24\00:05:10.13 God will answer any prayer that asks for help 00:05:10.16\00:05:15.18 to live our life that glorifies Him, 00:05:15.21\00:05:18.53 and that's the primary reason for our lives. 00:05:18.56\00:05:21.96 In Matthew 5:16 Jesus says, in the same way 00:05:21.99\00:05:25.58 "Let your light so shine before men, 00:05:25.61\00:05:28.62 that they may see Your good works, 00:05:28.65\00:05:30.60 and praise Your Father in heaven." 00:05:30.63\00:05:33.25 Just as we look for beautiful fruit from the grape wine, 00:05:33.28\00:05:37.63 God wants to see us bearing beautiful fruit. 00:05:37.66\00:05:41.24 Now can the branches bear fruit on their own? 00:05:41.27\00:05:46.17 No, of course not, the branches have to grafted into Jesus. 00:05:46.20\00:05:50.50 They have to remain in the vine 00:05:50.53\00:05:52.51 as the vine needs to remain in us. 00:05:52.54\00:05:55.45 Yes, it is right and good to ask God for our daily needs. 00:05:55.48\00:06:00.68 The Lord's prayer teaches us that. 00:06:00.71\00:06:02.52 And it's right and good to ask God to direct our lives, 00:06:02.55\00:06:06.06 Proverbs 3 tells us that. 00:06:06.09\00:06:07.58 So there are different prayers, 00:06:07.61\00:06:09.75 different situations where the lessons are different. 00:06:09.78\00:06:13.75 And in this particular chapter 00:06:13.78\00:06:16.01 it's talking about our spiritual life 00:06:16.04\00:06:18.30 and so verse 7 and 16, 00:06:18.33\00:06:22.31 when it says, ask and it shall be given. 00:06:22.34\00:06:25.28 It's telling us to ask for grace and strength, 00:06:25.31\00:06:29.63 so that we might live a victorious, 00:06:29.66\00:06:33.01 vibrant, and fruitful life. 00:06:33.04\00:06:39.73 The topic today is Moses, 00:06:42.40\00:06:45.62 a great prince of the land of Egypt." 00:06:45.65\00:06:49.21 On the screen we will see some of the power 00:06:49.24\00:06:52.51 and the glory of the nation that was his home. 00:06:52.54\00:06:56.80 We will see pictures of the mummy 00:06:56.83\00:07:00.01 of the great lady Pharaoh, Hapshetsup. 00:07:00.04\00:07:04.05 She was possibly Hapshetsup, 00:07:04.08\00:07:07.59 the most powerful woman of the ancient world. 00:07:07.62\00:07:13.33 I believe that the evidence shows that 00:07:13.36\00:07:15.80 she was the foster mother of Moses. 00:07:15.83\00:07:18.85 Today his life story in the courts of Pharaoh 00:07:18.88\00:07:23.16 is called at the 'burning bush' to deliver a nation of slaves, 00:07:23.19\00:07:31.16 his trials and triumphs, 00:07:31.19\00:07:33.88 finally his resurrection and transportation to heaven. 00:07:33.91\00:07:40.85 Would you please open your Bible? 00:07:40.88\00:07:43.06 Come over here with me to Luke Chapter 16:31. 00:07:43.09\00:07:47.33 Luke Chapter 16:31. Luke 16:31, "He said to him. 00:07:47.36\00:07:55.33 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, 00:07:57.43\00:08:01.67 they will not be convinced 00:08:01.70\00:08:03.30 even if someone rises from the dead." 00:08:03.33\00:08:07.08 Moses is so important in the scriptures 00:08:07.11\00:08:11.67 and this is the text in the New Testament obviously. 00:08:11.70\00:08:15.68 That if you don't listen to Moses you won't be convinced 00:08:15.71\00:08:19.72 even if a person should rise from the dead. 00:08:19.75\00:08:24.74 It shows you how great this man was, I might say is? 00:08:24.77\00:08:29.61 Come over here to Deuteronomy 34:10 down to 12 00:08:29.64\00:08:37.06 and onwards 00:08:37.09\00:08:39.56 "Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, 00:08:39.59\00:08:44.52 whom the Lord knew face to face, 00:08:44.55\00:08:47.24 who did all those miraculous signs and wonders 00:08:47.27\00:08:50.96 the Lord sent him to do in Egypt, to Pharaoh 00:08:50.99\00:08:55.26 and to all his officials and to his whole land. 00:08:55.29\00:08:59.74 For no one has ever shown the mighty power 00:08:59.77\00:09:04.27 or performed the awesome deeds 00:09:04.30\00:09:08.16 that Moses did in the sight of all Israel." 00:09:08.19\00:09:12.83 I believe the evidence will show 00:09:12.86\00:09:17.12 that Moses is the greatest character of the Old Testament. 00:09:17.15\00:09:24.48 Today we will notice the great prince, 00:09:24.51\00:09:28.89 the great statesman, the great law giver, 00:09:28.92\00:09:33.22 the great soldier, the great poet, 00:09:33.25\00:09:37.79 the great writer, the great leader. 00:09:37.82\00:09:42.01 He was great because God made him great. 00:09:42.04\00:09:45.55 His greatness was not in himself 00:09:45.58\00:09:49.25 or because he could've been the Pharaoh. 00:09:49.28\00:09:52.36 He was great because he was the servant of a great God. 00:09:52.39\00:10:00.02 It is not an exaggeration to say 00:10:00.05\00:10:02.56 that Moses by the grace of God 00:10:02.59\00:10:05.34 changed the course of history for a thousands years. 00:10:05.37\00:10:09.34 Some would say for thousands of years. 00:10:09.37\00:10:13.49 What can we learn from his life? 00:10:13.52\00:10:16.50 And today I've divided his life up into various segments. 00:10:16.53\00:10:21.89 In the first segment is entitled "40 years in Egypt." 00:10:21.92\00:10:26.77 Would you please come now 00:10:26.80\00:10:28.17 to the book of Exodus 2:1 down to 10? 00:10:28.20\00:10:32.68 I want you to turn to this text and please, 00:10:32.71\00:10:35.61 I want you turn as quickly as you can. 00:10:35.64\00:10:38.35 Exodus 2:1 down to 10. 00:10:38.38\00:10:42.23 We are going to stay for a while in the Book of Exodus. 00:10:42.26\00:10:46.04 "Now a man of the house of Levi married a Levite woman, 00:10:46.07\00:10:51.61 she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. 00:10:51.64\00:10:54.88 When she saw that he was a fine child, 00:10:54.91\00:10:58.71 she hid him for three months." 00:10:58.74\00:11:01.50 Because Pharaoh had said, 00:11:01.53\00:11:02.90 all the baby boys of the Hebrews 00:11:02.93\00:11:05.87 were to be put to death. 00:11:05.90\00:11:07.56 "But when she could hide him no longer, 00:11:07.59\00:11:10.35 she got a papyrus basket for him 00:11:10.38\00:11:12.96 and coated it with tar and pitch. 00:11:12.99\00:11:16.18 Then she placed the child in it and put it among the reeds 00:11:16.21\00:11:21.97 along the bank of the Nile. 00:11:22.00\00:11:24.82 His sister stood at a distance 00:11:24.85\00:11:26.69 to see what would happen to him. 00:11:26.72\00:11:30.26 Then Pharaoh's daughter went down to the Nile to bathe, 00:11:30.29\00:11:35.43 and her attendants were walking along the river bank. 00:11:35.46\00:11:39.16 She saw the basket among the reeds 00:11:39.19\00:11:42.20 and sent her slave girl to get it. 00:11:42.23\00:11:45.31 She opened it and saw the baby. 00:11:45.34\00:11:49.04 He was crying, she felt sorry for him. 00:11:49.07\00:11:54.61 'This is one of the Hebrew babies' she said. 00:11:54.64\00:11:58.40 Then his sister asked Pharaoh's daughter, 00:11:58.43\00:12:02.74 'Shall I go and get one of the Hebrew women 00:12:02.77\00:12:05.88 to nurse the baby for you?' 00:12:05.91\00:12:08.65 'Yes, go,' she answered. 00:12:08.68\00:12:12.35 And the girl went andgot the baby's mother. 00:12:12.38\00:12:16.02 Pharaoh's daughter said to her, 00:12:16.05\00:12:18.55 'Take this baby and nurse him for me and I will pay you.' 00:12:18.58\00:12:23.88 So the woman took the baby and nursed him. 00:12:23.91\00:12:26.69 When the child grew older, 00:12:26.72\00:12:28.71 she took him to Pharaoh's daughter 00:12:28.74\00:12:31.55 and he became her son. 00:12:31.58\00:12:34.29 She named him Moses, saying, 'I drew him out of the water.'" 00:12:34.32\00:12:42.29 The river Nile as some of you would know 00:12:44.92\00:12:48.25 was recognized or believed to be a God. 00:12:48.28\00:12:51.54 And so when he was drawn out of the water 00:12:51.57\00:12:54.75 or born of the River Nile, they believed 00:12:54.78\00:12:58.44 that they were something sacred about this. 00:12:58.47\00:13:00.86 Egypt of course is the land of the River Nile. 00:13:00.89\00:13:06.29 It is the River Nile that makes Egypt 00:13:06.32\00:13:09.85 the marvelous and the wonderful place it is. 00:13:09.88\00:13:13.85 A few hundred miles from North to South 00:13:13.88\00:13:18.68 just a few miles across 00:13:18.71\00:13:21.52 because of the burning sands of the desert, 00:13:21.55\00:13:24.86 but the little area of land which has been flooded 00:13:24.89\00:13:29.90 by the Nile River for thousands and thousands of years. 00:13:29.93\00:13:33.53 This little bit of dirt produce the greatest 00:13:33.56\00:13:38.47 kings and queens in the history of world. 00:13:38.50\00:13:44.50 It is interesting to note 00:13:44.53\00:13:47.10 that the first five books of the Bible 00:13:47.13\00:13:50.24 were written by a man who was born in the land of Egypt. 00:13:50.27\00:13:55.04 If you come down the river a few hundred miles 00:13:55.07\00:13:57.58 as I have more occasions than I can remember. 00:13:57.61\00:14:01.52 You come to Luxor, 00:14:01.55\00:14:03.84 where you've the greatest Sun temple on the face of the earth 00:14:03.87\00:14:09.26 Some would say the greatest worship center 00:14:09.29\00:14:11.71 in the history of the world, 00:14:11.74\00:14:14.16 that is down here a few hundred miles south of Cairo. 00:14:14.19\00:14:17.86 This area up here by its very shape 00:14:17.89\00:14:20.72 was called by the Greeks, 'The Delta'. 00:14:20.75\00:14:24.32 Over here you have the great pyramids of the Giza Plateau, 00:14:24.35\00:14:29.46 but what is of interest to a person who loves the Bible. 00:14:29.49\00:14:33.48 He said, right here in The Delta, 00:14:33.51\00:14:37.29 they have discovered the city of Rameses. 00:14:37.32\00:14:42.84 Now this is somewhat a recent discovery. 00:14:42.87\00:14:47.18 But the city of Rameses 00:14:47.21\00:14:49.59 is of some significance in our story, 00:14:49.62\00:14:52.73 because the Bible tells me 00:14:52.76\00:14:55.43 when the children of Israel left the land of Egypt, 00:14:55.46\00:14:58.63 thy left from the city of Rameses. 00:14:58.66\00:15:04.30 I want you to know this. For 40 years, he was in Egypt. 00:15:04.33\00:15:10.68 For at least 28 years he was the son of Pharaoh's daughter. 00:15:10.71\00:15:18.09 I believe if you compare the biblical chronologies 00:15:18.12\00:15:22.26 with the Bible chronologies, 00:15:22.29\00:15:24.39 then it seems almost clear that the foster mother 00:15:24.42\00:15:29.98 of Moses was the woman Hapshetsup. 00:15:30.01\00:15:33.70 And today we will probably show you 00:15:33.73\00:15:35.39 some pictures of Hapshetsup. 00:15:35.42\00:15:37.99 A few years ago when I spoke on this subject, 00:15:38.02\00:15:41.15 I told to people the body of Hapshetsup 00:15:41.18\00:15:44.41 was destroyed by her son-in-law, I was wrong, 00:15:44.44\00:15:51.59 But the next best thing was done. 00:15:51.62\00:15:54.39 Her body was lost only just discovered by Dr. Hawass, 00:15:54.42\00:16:01.77 whom I interviewed just recently in the Cairo Museum. 00:16:01.80\00:16:06.48 And today we can gaze upon the face of the woman, 00:16:06.51\00:16:11.47 who most likely was the princess. 00:16:11.50\00:16:14.41 Who went down and saw the little papyrus basket 00:16:14.44\00:16:18.62 and her heart was moved as the baby cried. 00:16:18.65\00:16:23.46 I want you folks to know something. 00:16:23.49\00:16:27.06 It seems evident from study of the scriptures 00:16:27.09\00:16:31.30 and this is almost overwhelming that Moses 00:16:31.33\00:16:35.71 who wrote the first five books of Bible 00:16:35.74\00:16:39.42 could have been the Pharaoh. 00:16:39.45\00:16:42.05 He was being trained to be the Pharaoh. 00:16:42.08\00:16:44.90 Now those of you here 00:16:44.93\00:16:47.04 and those of you who are watching on televise 00:16:47.07\00:16:49.88 who are mesmerized by money and gold. 00:16:49.91\00:16:55.10 Remember this, this is just little stuff 00:16:55.13\00:17:00.36 that you're mesmerized by. 00:17:00.39\00:17:02.90 Moses could have had all the wealth and all the gold, 00:17:02.93\00:17:08.16 and all the glory that Egypt could give him. 00:17:08.19\00:17:13.87 But a turning point came in his life. 00:17:13.90\00:17:16.32 And if you read there Exodus 2:11 and onwards. 00:17:16.35\00:17:20.64 One day, after Moses had grown up, 00:17:20.67\00:17:25.10 he went out to where his own people were 00:17:25.13\00:17:28.45 and watched them at their hard labor. 00:17:28.48\00:17:31.14 He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, 00:17:31.17\00:17:34.14 one of his own people. 00:17:34.17\00:17:36.46 Glancing this way and that and seeing no one, 00:17:36.49\00:17:39.29 he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. 00:17:39.32\00:17:43.13 The next day he went out and saw two Hebrews fighting. 00:17:43.16\00:17:47.02 He asked the one in the wrong, 00:17:47.05\00:17:48.96 "Why are you hitting your fellow Hebrew?" 00:17:48.99\00:17:52.69 Are you thinking of killing me as you killed the Egyptian?" 00:17:52.72\00:18:00.51 Then Moses was afraid and thought, 00:18:00.54\00:18:02.50 "What I did must have become known.' 00:18:02.53\00:18:05.68 When Pharaoh heard of this, he tried to kill Moses, 00:18:05.71\00:18:09.79 but Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to live in Midian, 00:18:09.82\00:18:14.20 where he sat down by a well.'" 00:18:14.23\00:18:19.32 Sometimes God's gonna give us a shove before we do His will. 00:18:19.35\00:18:27.13 May be if this had not happened 00:18:27.16\00:18:29.96 Moses today would be in the Cairo Museum. 00:18:29.99\00:18:33.87 But when he saw his people being ruffed up and beaten, 00:18:33.90\00:18:40.07 something is gotten in his heart and he said, 00:18:40.10\00:18:43.20 I don't belong with these people 00:18:43.23\00:18:47.21 the Egyptians and the Pharaohs, 00:18:47.24\00:18:49.43 I belong with these despised people of God. 00:18:49.46\00:18:54.65 And this was the turning point in his life 00:18:54.68\00:18:58.46 when God gave him a shove. 00:18:58.49\00:19:02.18 I want you to come over here to Hebrews Chapter 11. 00:19:02.21\00:19:04.95 Keep you finger there in the Book of Exodus 00:19:04.98\00:19:07.46 and come over here to the New Testament 00:19:07.49\00:19:09.85 to the Book of Hebrews 11, verse 24 to 26 my dear friends. 00:19:09.88\00:19:16.55 Hebrews 11:24 to 26 the Bible says, 00:19:16.58\00:19:20.95 "By faith Moses, when he had grown up, 00:19:20.98\00:19:25.80 refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh's daughter. 00:19:25.83\00:19:30.65 He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God 00:19:30.68\00:19:34.28 rather than to enjoy 00:19:34.31\00:19:35.95 the pleasures of sin for a short time. 00:19:35.98\00:19:39.82 He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ 00:19:39.85\00:19:43.38 as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, 00:19:43.41\00:19:48.65 because he was looking ahead to his reward. 00:19:48.68\00:19:54.94 So 40 years in the palace, wealthy, rich, 00:19:54.97\00:20:02.94 in every possible way that you can imagine. 00:20:05.22\00:20:08.18 You noticed on the screen 00:20:08.21\00:20:09.58 these are somewhat more recent discoveries. 00:20:09.61\00:20:15.71 Had the privilege of going into that tomb, 00:20:15.74\00:20:18.91 and there you can actually see Semites like the Hebrews, 00:20:18.94\00:20:22.64 may be they were, may be they were the people 00:20:22.67\00:20:25.95 who lived in the days of Moses. 00:20:25.98\00:20:28.45 But here is evidence that Semites from Asia and Palestine 00:20:28.48\00:20:33.56 were slaves in the land of Egypt. 00:20:33.59\00:20:36.82 So the people are getting beaten up 00:20:36.85\00:20:39.25 and there is a stirring in his heart, 00:20:39.28\00:20:41.42 I am in the wrong place, 00:20:41.45\00:20:42.87 I ought to be with the people of God. 00:20:42.90\00:20:46.71 So he runs away and he goes to a little place 00:20:46.74\00:20:50.69 and there God gives him a wife. 00:20:50.72\00:20:55.01 Look at Exodus 2:16 and onwards. 00:20:55.04\00:20:59.14 "Now a priest of Midian had seven daughters, perfect number. 00:20:59.17\00:21:04.10 And they came to draw water 00:21:04.13\00:21:05.90 and to fill the troughs to water their father's flock. 00:21:05.93\00:21:09.56 Some shepherds came along and drove them away, 00:21:09.59\00:21:12.76 but Moses got up and came to their rescue 00:21:12.79\00:21:15.18 and watered their flock. 00:21:15.21\00:21:16.93 When the girls returned to Reuel, their father, 00:21:16.96\00:21:20.76 he asked them,'Why have you returned so early today?' 00:21:20.79\00:21:24.47 They answered, 'An Egyptian rescued us from the shepherds. 00:21:24.50\00:21:29.94 He even drew water for us and watered to the flock.' 00:21:29.97\00:21:33.87 'And where is he?' This Egyptian, where is he? 00:21:33.90\00:21:38.40 He asked his daughters. 'Why did you leave him? 00:21:38.43\00:21:40.85 Invite him to have something to eat.' 00:21:40.88\00:21:44.05 Moses agreed to stay with the man, 00:21:44.08\00:21:46.34 who gave his daughter Zipporah to Moses in marriage. 00:21:46.37\00:21:50.87 Zipporah gave birth to a son, and Moses named him Gershom, 00:21:50.90\00:21:55.82 saying, "I have become an alien in a foreign land.''' 00:21:55.85\00:22:02.60 Listen to this, if you're looking for a wife 00:22:02.63\00:22:07.57 or if you're looking for a husband, 00:22:07.60\00:22:11.20 God has the right person for you. 00:22:11.23\00:22:15.16 But don't rush ahead of God. 00:22:15.19\00:22:19.83 Let God get you the right person or else you will regret it. 00:22:19.86\00:22:27.83 But God chose for Moses, this is interesting, 00:22:30.68\00:22:35.26 a woman of another race. 00:22:35.29\00:22:39.86 Even though she was descendant of Abraham 00:22:39.89\00:22:42.94 and so now Moses is married. 00:22:42.97\00:22:47.15 And the suffering in Egypt went on. 00:22:47.18\00:22:53.60 Would you please notice a text, 00:22:53.63\00:22:55.26 I want you to see this text please. 00:22:55.29\00:22:57.27 Want you to come to Exodus 2:23. 00:22:57.30\00:23:02.04 During that long period, you know how long that was? 00:23:02.07\00:23:06.08 He was in this wilderness looking after sheep for years. 00:23:06.11\00:23:10.55 "During that long period, the king of Egypt died. 00:23:10.58\00:23:14.20 The Israelites groaned in their slavery and cried out, 00:23:14.23\00:23:17.40 and their cry for help because of their slavery went up to God. 00:23:17.43\00:23:23.19 God heard their groaning and remember the covenant 00:23:23.22\00:23:26.05 with Abraham, with Isaac and with Jacob. 00:23:26.08\00:23:29.49 So God looked on the Israelites and was concerned about them." 00:23:29.52\00:23:36.41 This is a mystery of me. 00:23:36.44\00:23:39.67 Moses is a shepherd, 40 years 00:23:39.70\00:23:43.90 a prince could've been the Pharaoh. 00:23:43.93\00:23:47.62 He goes up here to Midian and he gets a wife, 00:23:47.65\00:23:52.89 and he is there for 40 years. 00:23:52.92\00:23:56.32 And the Bible says in a few sentences 00:23:56.35\00:23:59.46 and the suffering went on another 40 years. 00:23:59.49\00:24:06.16 Another 40 years of pain. 00:24:06.19\00:24:10.10 It seems to me my beloved friend 00:24:10.13\00:24:14.06 that God has a plan and God won't be rushed. 00:24:14.09\00:24:21.15 I am impatient, I stand in front of microwave 00:24:21.18\00:24:26.79 when I put my oatmeal in, rolloats they call in Australia. 00:24:26.82\00:24:31.85 When I put my oatmeal in and it takes two minutes 00:24:31.88\00:24:34.94 and I stand in front of the microwave 00:24:34.97\00:24:36.96 and I do this come on, come on, come on can't you go. 00:24:36.99\00:24:40.96 Somebody said, you can get some oatmeal 00:24:41.00\00:24:43.10 that you can cook in a minute. 00:24:43.13\00:24:44.50 I will get it when I find it come on. 00:24:44.53\00:24:48.82 But God said, you got to be patient. 00:24:48.85\00:24:54.15 Romans 8:28, now you see 00:24:54.18\00:24:57.66 we want things instant, instant potato. 00:24:57.69\00:25:01.76 In America the fast foods, 00:25:01.79\00:25:05.42 but God is not a person into fast foods. 00:25:05.45\00:25:08.93 God works on the 40 year plan The 40 year plan. 00:25:08.96\00:25:15.16 In Romans 8:28 you ought to know up by heart, 00:25:15.19\00:25:19.31 the Bible says and in all things 00:25:19.34\00:25:22.31 God works for the good of those who love Him, 00:25:22.34\00:25:25.71 who have been called according to His purpose. 00:25:25.74\00:25:28.76 So God's got a plan, but His plan 00:25:28.79\00:25:32.48 is not a plan without suffering and pain and headache. 00:25:32.51\00:25:37.10 And God, my friend listen to this, 00:25:37.13\00:25:41.05 doesn't seem to be in a hurry. 00:25:41.08\00:25:46.87 Look at Exodus 3:1, "Now Moses was tending the flock 00:25:46.90\00:25:54.87 of Jethro, his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, 00:25:54.90\00:26:01.23 and he led the flock to the far side 00:26:01.26\00:26:03.43 of the desert and came to Horeb, 00:26:03.46\00:26:06.16 the mountain of God." Listen to this. 00:26:06.19\00:26:10.19 You saw king Tut. Now King Tut came 00:26:10.22\00:26:12.10 about hundred years or so after Moses. 00:26:12.13\00:26:15.02 You saw King Tut with all his glory. 00:26:15.05\00:26:17.67 Moses once upon a time walked there strutted 00:26:17.70\00:26:20.80 around Egypt with that stuff, wearing that. He is wealthy. 00:26:20.83\00:26:28.80 He has got more money then you can poke a stick at, 00:26:28.83\00:26:32.40 but God said to him, that doesn't count. 00:26:32.43\00:26:36.62 How much money you got my friend doesn't count with God? 00:26:36.65\00:26:44.62 And the text says, one verse, one verse squeezes in 40 years. 00:26:46.47\00:26:54.47 There is a shepherd 40 years looking after sheep. 00:26:54.50\00:27:01.70 You know, why God made him a shepherd 00:27:01.73\00:27:04.46 because soon he is going to be looking after 00:27:04.49\00:27:07.84 a different kind of sheep, and not so agreeable. 00:27:07.87\00:27:14.19 Back in Australia, in South Wales, 00:27:14.22\00:27:20.49 right on the southern part as it goes into Victoria. 00:27:20.52\00:27:24.16 I got to know Greg and Loris Eims, they had sheep. 00:27:24.19\00:27:29.90 I was a boy who was brought up in the city, 00:27:29.98\00:27:32.72 but I've spent now a lot of times 00:27:32.75\00:27:34.69 with sheep here and in Australia. 00:27:34.72\00:27:40.42 You know a lot about sheep, won't you hear this. 00:27:40.45\00:27:43.62 If the farmer puts sheep in the back of the utility 00:27:43.65\00:27:47.89 or a pickup and he pushes the sheep out 00:27:47.92\00:27:51.85 because he wants him to go to another part of the field. 00:27:51.88\00:27:54.69 If a sheep falls on its back, you know, 00:27:54.72\00:27:57.90 what the sheep will do, stay there. 00:27:57.93\00:28:03.54 God calls His people sheep. Goats won't to that. 00:28:03.57\00:28:09.89 If there is a fire in the stable, 00:28:09.92\00:28:11.57 the goats will run away and get out of the fire. 00:28:11.60\00:28:14.74 The sheep will stay and get burnt. 00:28:14.77\00:28:18.14 They will stay and get burnt to a cinder. 00:28:18.17\00:28:25.03 And so God says, I've got a job for you. 00:28:25.06\00:28:29.68 The man who could have been Pharaoh 00:28:29.71\00:28:31.89 and he says you need to learn some patience 00:28:31.92\00:28:37.26 like I need to learn it. I need to learn patience. 00:28:37.29\00:28:43.37 Moses needed a lot of patience 40 years. 00:28:43.40\00:28:48.30 And during that time he forgot about Egypt 00:28:48.33\00:28:50.94 and he forgot about the royal throne. 00:28:50.97\00:28:55.68 And he settled down, looking after dumb sheep. 00:28:55.71\00:29:03.65 Now the next segment, 00:29:03.68\00:29:06.94 the burning bush and his return to Egypt. 00:29:06.97\00:29:10.09 Look at Exodus 3, verse 1 to 10. 00:29:10.12\00:29:12.73 "Now Moses was tending the flock." 00:29:12.76\00:29:15.11 Verse 2, "There the angel of the Lord appeared 00:29:15.14\00:29:17.88 to him in flames of fire from within a bush. 00:29:17.91\00:29:21.91 Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. 00:29:21.94\00:29:26.24 So Moses thought, 'I will go over and see this strange sight 00:29:26.27\00:29:30.27 why the bush does not burn up.' 00:29:30.30\00:29:33.44 When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, 00:29:33.47\00:29:35.80 God called to him from within the bush, 00:29:35.83\00:29:39.40 'Moses! Moses!' And Moses said, 'Here I am.' 00:29:39.43\00:29:47.40 'Do not come any closer,' God said. 00:29:47.43\00:29:50.56 'Take off your sandals, for the place 00:29:50.59\00:29:53.05 where you are standing is holy ground.' 00:29:53.08\00:29:56.69 Then he said, 'I am the God of your father, 00:29:56.72\00:30:00.69 the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.' 00:30:00.72\00:30:06.54 At this, Moses hid his face, 00:30:06.57\00:30:09.47 because he was afraid to look at God. 00:30:09.50\00:30:12.72 The Lord said, 'I have indeed seen 00:30:12.75\00:30:16.19 the misery of my people in Egypt. 00:30:16.22\00:30:18.88 I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers 00:30:18.91\00:30:22.31 I am concerned about all their suffering."' 00:30:22.34\00:30:26.03 Then if you come down to verse 14. 00:30:26.07\00:30:28.62 "Moses said, 'what is your name because God said, 00:30:28.65\00:30:32.67 I want you to go and talk to Israelites. 00:30:32.70\00:30:34.90 Moses said, what is your name. 00:30:34.93\00:30:36.92 God said to Moses, I am who I am. 00:30:36.95\00:30:44.21 This is what you are to say to the Israelites. 00:30:44.24\00:30:47.52 'I am has sent me to you."' 00:30:47.55\00:30:51.43 This is the name that we should say 00:30:51.46\00:30:56.23 with reverence and with fear. 00:30:56.26\00:30:59.51 This is the name of the almighty God. 00:30:59.54\00:31:05.71 In scripture He is called Yahweh Elohim. 00:31:05.74\00:31:12.72 And when Jesus came to this earth and He was having 00:31:12.75\00:31:18.33 a confrontation with the Pharisees. 00:31:18.36\00:31:21.79 Jesus said, before Abraham was, I am. 00:31:21.82\00:31:29.79 And so the person who came down to this world, 00:31:31.60\00:31:35.00 who become incarnate, 00:31:35.03\00:31:36.82 who one day was to take the cross 00:31:36.85\00:31:39.83 upon His broad shoulders, this was the person. 00:31:39.86\00:31:44.74 He is now talking to Moses. 00:31:44.77\00:31:50.94 Have you had an experience like that? 00:31:50.97\00:31:55.26 I was telling the people on Wednesday night, 00:31:55.29\00:31:59.60 just quoting Jim Gilley's book. 00:31:59.63\00:32:02.76 Religion, we don't want religion. 00:32:02.79\00:32:06.56 It's too much religion. Most of us are too religious. 00:32:06.59\00:32:14.56 What we want is Christ. 00:32:14.59\00:32:17.35 We want genuine Christianity. So Moses meets God. 00:32:17.38\00:32:25.35 I think this was the first time Moses had really met God. 00:32:26.44\00:32:33.56 There must come a time in every man's life, 00:32:33.59\00:32:36.87 every woman's life if he is going to be saved, 00:32:36.90\00:32:40.25 when he is going to meet God. 00:32:40.28\00:32:42.85 Every person must have his own burning bush experience. 00:32:42.88\00:32:50.85 Moses was not getting religion. Moses was meeting Christ. 00:32:52.53\00:32:59.78 Look at 4:20, God says, I got a job for you to do 00:32:59.81\00:33:06.01 and he got to go back. I don't want to go back. 00:33:06.04\00:33:08.59 Well, I want you to go back. 00:33:08.62\00:33:09.99 No, I don't want to go back Chapter 4:20, 00:33:10.02\00:33:15.45 "So Moses took his wife and sons, 00:33:15.48\00:33:17.63 put them on a donkey and started back to Egypt." 00:33:17.66\00:33:20.33 That's the place where I don't want to go 00:33:20.36\00:33:22.58 because they're gonna kill me, they gonna put me in prison. 00:33:22.61\00:33:26.09 "Started back to Egypt. 00:33:26.12\00:33:28.10 And he took the staff of God in his hand." 00:33:28.13\00:33:32.30 Verse 29, Moses and Aaron brought together 00:33:32.33\00:33:37.56 all the elders of the Israelites, 00:33:37.59\00:33:39.98 and Aaron told them everything the Lord had said to Moses. 00:33:40.01\00:33:43.99 He also performed the signs 00:33:44.02\00:33:45.66 before the people, and they believed. 00:33:45.69\00:33:49.01 And when they heard that the Lord 00:33:49.04\00:33:50.44 was concerned about them and had seen their misery, 00:33:50.47\00:33:53.73 they bowed down and they worshiped." 00:33:53.76\00:33:56.05 After not 40 years, after 80 years, 00:33:56.08\00:33:59.97 there is a light at last, 00:34:00.00\00:34:02.20 because God is going to do something. 00:34:02.23\00:34:07.48 But God is not in the fast food business. 00:34:07.51\00:34:10.89 The Bible tells us things got worse. 00:34:10.92\00:34:16.86 When Moses went back things got worse. 00:34:16.89\00:34:21.74 Remember this, things often get worse before they get better. 00:34:21.77\00:34:29.74 I want you to look at Exodus 5:1 00:34:29.77\00:34:33.50 "Afterward Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, 00:34:33.53\00:34:38.94 'This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says, 00:34:38.97\00:34:42.19 Let my people go, let my people go, 00:34:42.22\00:34:45.83 so that they may hold a festival to me in the desert."' 00:34:45.86\00:34:49.84 And if you read the text at your own convenience 00:34:49.87\00:34:53.94 Pharaoh and we believe, 00:34:53.97\00:34:56.71 I believe from the evidence, 00:34:56.74\00:34:58.36 he was talking to Pharaoh Thutmose III. 00:34:58.39\00:35:02.74 And I've gazed upon his face in the Cairo museum 00:35:02.77\00:35:06.21 where Moses could've been. 00:35:06.24\00:35:08.42 And Pharaoh said, I know not the Lord, 00:35:08.45\00:35:14.59 neither will I let Israel go. 00:35:14.62\00:35:18.29 And then said, if you want trouble, 00:35:18.32\00:35:21.40 you've come to the right place. 00:35:21.43\00:35:24.04 He said, trouble their workload, 00:35:24.07\00:35:27.24 don't supply them with straw, make it hard, 00:35:27.27\00:35:30.69 grind them down into the dust. So things got worse. 00:35:30.72\00:35:38.69 But after a time of intense hardship and persecution 00:35:41.01\00:35:45.65 and confrontation there you have in Tuthmosis III. 00:35:45.68\00:35:53.38 A step brother, I believe of Moses, 00:35:53.41\00:35:56.51 but God said enough is enough. 00:35:56.54\00:35:59.57 Look at Exodus 6:1, "Then the Lord said to Moses, 00:35:59.60\00:36:06.23 'Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh, 00:36:06.26\00:36:09.49 because of my mighty hand he will let them go, 00:36:09.52\00:36:13.42 because of my mighty hand 00:36:13.45\00:36:16.20 he will drive them out of the country.'' 00:36:16.23\00:36:22.62 I wish I could have been there for those confrontations 00:36:22.66\00:36:27.53 and there was Pharaoh sitting with all his glory 00:36:27.56\00:36:30.57 with his golden crown and surrounded 00:36:30.60\00:36:34.82 by his wives, and his princess, 00:36:34.85\00:36:38.39 and he was a man from the desert 00:36:38.42\00:36:41.22 standing with the staff of God. 00:36:41.25\00:36:44.06 He had no tanks and he had no guns, 00:36:44.09\00:36:48.24 but he had the word of God. 00:36:48.27\00:36:50.63 And he said, the word of God says, let my people go. 00:36:50.66\00:36:55.77 And Tuthmosis says, never. 00:36:55.80\00:37:00.34 One wise man said this, man may have his hour, 00:37:00.37\00:37:06.50 but God will have his day. 00:37:06.53\00:37:10.36 And in the end the will of God 00:37:10.39\00:37:13.88 will happen whatever man tries to do. 00:37:13.91\00:37:17.75 The will of God will be accomplished 00:37:17.78\00:37:20.96 even though it takes 80 years. 00:37:20.99\00:37:23.19 And even though things get worse before they get better, 00:37:23.22\00:37:28.21 these are lessons you can learn. 00:37:28.24\00:37:30.36 God visited Egypt, we don't have time to show them to you. 00:37:30.39\00:37:34.84 Visited Egypt with 10 plagues of judgment. 00:37:34.87\00:37:37.78 Some people who don't know the Bible says, God never punishes. 00:37:37.81\00:37:42.72 I heard them say to me, God never punishes, 00:37:42.75\00:37:47.53 God will never destroy the wicked. 00:37:47.56\00:37:50.56 The wicked will destroy themselves, 00:37:50.59\00:37:53.26 because God never punishes. 00:37:53.29\00:37:55.81 Explain the 10 plagues. 00:37:55.84\00:37:58.05 Blood, gnats, frogs, flies everywhere, 00:37:58.08\00:38:05.18 the curse on the livestock, boils, hail, 00:38:05.21\00:38:11.13 the fire that ran along on the ground, the locusts, 00:38:11.16\00:38:14.92 the supernatural darkness 00:38:14.95\00:38:17.14 and then the angel of death the Passover. 00:38:17.17\00:38:21.33 I've stood in the place the temple of Tuthmosis III 00:38:21.36\00:38:26.30 where he could have well had-- 00:38:26.33\00:38:29.71 he could well have received the message 00:38:29.74\00:38:32.24 about putting the blood on the door. 00:38:32.27\00:38:34.36 But of course he would not believe in the Gospel of Christ 00:38:34.39\00:38:38.16 and putting the blood on the door. 00:38:38.19\00:38:39.92 You know the story the angels of death passed over 00:38:39.95\00:38:43.87 and if you had the blood on the door you were safe, 00:38:43.90\00:38:47.13 but if you didn't have the blood on the door, 00:38:47.16\00:38:49.49 your first born was a dead soul. 00:38:49.52\00:38:54.98 There's only one thing my friend that can save a soul, 00:38:55.01\00:38:58.29 and that is the blood on the door. 00:38:58.32\00:39:01.16 I ask you today, do you've the blood on the door? 00:39:01.19\00:39:05.95 or are you trusting in your own righteousness 00:39:05.98\00:39:09.07 and your own religion. 00:39:09.10\00:39:14.04 There was a blood on the door 00:39:14.07\00:39:15.58 and that night a wale went up 00:39:15.61\00:39:18.66 from Tuthmosis who had lost his son. 00:39:18.69\00:39:23.11 And all the courtiers and all the women were grieving 00:39:23.14\00:39:26.83 even the cattle. The first born died. 00:39:26.86\00:39:32.37 Then the Pharaoh got up in the night 00:39:32.40\00:39:37.07 and he cried out and he said to Moses. 00:39:37.10\00:39:39.47 He told Moses, never see me again 00:39:39.50\00:39:41.48 because the day you see me again I'll kill you, 00:39:41.51\00:39:44.05 but he summons Moses and he said go. 00:39:44.08\00:39:48.56 Take your wives, take your children, 00:39:48.59\00:39:53.44 take your livestock go and that is called the Exodus. 00:39:53.47\00:40:01.44 And they left from the city of Rameses. 00:40:03.77\00:40:09.42 What a story this is? 00:40:09.45\00:40:11.44 I've stood in the place 00:40:11.47\00:40:12.84 the Bible actually mentions the city, 00:40:12.87\00:40:15.20 the city of Rameses in the Delta. 00:40:15.23\00:40:17.63 Exodus 12, verse 37. 00:40:17.66\00:40:20.57 This is the city that was lost 00:40:20.60\00:40:23.62 for thousands and thousands of years. 00:40:23.65\00:40:27.15 In fact, they confused it 00:40:27.18\00:40:29.90 with another city by the name of Tanis. 00:40:29.93\00:40:33.94 All the archeologist of the Rameses was Tanis. 00:40:33.97\00:40:37.42 But they were wrong and this pit of earth today 00:40:37.45\00:40:43.07 that I visited recently with the television crew 00:40:43.10\00:40:46.53 is the sight that's once was one of the greatest cities 00:40:46.56\00:40:50.30 of the ancient world, nothing there today. 00:40:50.33\00:40:54.71 It was this city that saw the birth of freedom 00:40:54.74\00:40:58.97 because from this city the children of Israel 00:40:59.00\00:41:03.30 went forth to cross the Red Sea. 00:41:03.35\00:41:05.94 Look at the text, Exodus 12:37, 00:41:05.97\00:41:09.80 "The Israelites journeyed from Rameses to Succoth. 00:41:09.83\00:41:14.31 They were about six hundred thousand men on foot, 00:41:14.34\00:41:18.06 beside woman and children. 00:41:18.09\00:41:21.62 Let me tell you the story, 00:41:21.65\00:41:25.58 because we want time read all the texts. 00:41:25.61\00:41:29.88 As they journeyed out of the old city of Rameses, 00:41:29.91\00:41:35.10 which was even greater than the ancient city of Babylon, 00:41:35.13\00:41:38.55 nothing there today. 00:41:38.58\00:41:41.31 I stood there and I thought of the wonder of it all. 00:41:41.34\00:41:44.28 And as they journeyed they came to Red Sea the Hebrews says, 00:41:44.31\00:41:50.20 the reed sea, whatever it is, it makes no difference to me. 00:41:50.23\00:41:55.85 But the Egyptians decided they were not going to let them go 00:41:55.88\00:42:00.37 and the Egyptians came out with their chariots. 00:42:00.40\00:42:05.32 And the children of Israel went to water 00:42:05.35\00:42:08.09 and started to cry and complain 00:42:08.12\00:42:11.43 and God in his infinite mercy came. 00:42:11.46\00:42:14.55 God in his infinite mercy came with the great cloud of fire. 00:42:14.58\00:42:21.52 And the cloud of fire came between 00:42:21.55\00:42:23.56 the Israelites and the pursuing Egyptians. 00:42:23.59\00:42:29.50 And while they were crying and mourning 00:42:29.53\00:42:32.22 and doubting the power of God 00:42:32.25\00:42:34.56 which is something we all seem to do. 00:42:34.59\00:42:39.61 God told Moses to do something. Exodus 14:13. 00:42:39.64\00:42:47.61 "God answered the people, 'Do not be afraid. 00:42:47.64\00:42:52.83 Stand firm and you will see 00:42:52.86\00:42:54.95 the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. 00:42:54.98\00:42:57.60 The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. 00:42:57.63\00:43:02.68 The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still.'" 00:43:02.71\00:43:10.68 Look at me, we all have Red Sea experience. 00:43:12.40\00:43:19.80 If you do anything that's worthwhile 00:43:19.83\00:43:22.66 you'll have the Red Sea experience 00:43:22.69\00:43:24.81 where the enemy is behind you, 00:43:24.84\00:43:27.41 and the people of God are complaining. 00:43:27.44\00:43:31.82 And in front of you there is nothing but a watery grave. 00:43:31.85\00:43:38.49 On that occasion my friend we must not murmur, 00:43:38.52\00:43:42.85 we must walk forward in faith and get our feet wet. 00:43:42.88\00:43:48.62 I remember when we were running 00:43:48.65\00:43:51.24 the campaign in the city of Kiev. 00:43:51.27\00:43:54.43 We were told close down the meetings, 00:43:54.46\00:43:56.47 the government told us that, close down the meetings. 00:43:56.50\00:43:59.91 Stop the meeting or else they said to me, 00:43:59.94\00:44:02.92 we'll not guarantee your safety. 00:44:02.95\00:44:05.57 By the grace of God, we decided we would go ahead 00:44:05.60\00:44:10.14 even at the risk of our lives. 00:44:10.17\00:44:15.01 And God delivered us and protected us and saved us 00:44:15.04\00:44:19.14 and we saw the greatest baptism 00:44:19.17\00:44:21.48 of three and half thousands souls. 00:44:21.51\00:44:25.38 Because we said humbly we went forward in faith. 00:44:25.41\00:44:33.38 Some of you are going through hard times financially. 00:44:33.41\00:44:36.64 Now is the time not to complain. 00:44:36.67\00:44:38.88 Now is the time, have faith in God. Amen. 00:44:38.91\00:44:45.30 And walk out on the water. 00:44:45.33\00:44:50.16 It's time to look to the God of Israel. 00:44:50.19\00:44:52.60 It is time to have faith. It is time to move forward 00:44:52.63\00:44:55.61 and here we say the leader, 00:44:55.64\00:44:59.25 the leader never leads from an armchair. 00:44:59.28\00:45:05.16 Moses the leader, the man of God, 00:45:05.19\00:45:07.23 the man who spoke to God, 00:45:07.26\00:45:09.01 the man who spoke for God whom the Lord knew face to-face. 00:45:09.04\00:45:13.74 Moses the man of faith, the man of courage, the man of action. 00:45:13.77\00:45:18.23 Listen words don't cut it. 00:45:18.26\00:45:25.60 Religious palaver doesn't cut it.. 00:45:25.63\00:45:29.36 Pious platitude don't cut in a crisis. 00:45:29.39\00:45:33.67 God wants His man or His woman not to talk but to do obedience. 00:45:33.70\00:45:41.67 And Moses was a man of obedience but an imperfect man. 00:45:46.29\00:45:53.16 Let the children of Israel through the Red Sea. 00:45:53.19\00:45:56.02 I've been in the tomb of Tuthmosis III, 00:45:56.05\00:45:59.74 whom I believe was the Pharaoh of the Exodus. 00:45:59.77\00:46:02.24 I took a television crew in there 00:46:02.27\00:46:04.62 and one of the most amazing things is this 00:46:04.65\00:46:08.17 that the tomb was finished in a hurry. 00:46:08.20\00:46:12.79 You can see how it was rushed, it was never completed, 00:46:12.82\00:46:20.71 which is what one would expect, that this man died prematurely. 00:46:20.74\00:46:28.71 So they got through the Red Sea 00:46:30.85\00:46:33.24 and now we come to Moses and the mountain. 00:46:33.27\00:46:37.39 God came down with fire, and thunder, 00:46:37.42\00:46:39.88 and gave the Ten Commandments. 00:46:39.91\00:46:44.22 But while Moses was on the mountain, 00:46:44.25\00:46:47.38 the people got bored and restless. 00:46:47.41\00:46:51.26 Look at Exodus 32. 00:46:51.29\00:46:56.04 We start at verse 15, we can't read all of this. 00:46:56.07\00:47:00.77 "Moses turned and wentd down from the mountain 00:47:00.80\00:47:03.87 with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, 00:47:03.90\00:47:07.23 the holy law of God. 00:47:07.26\00:47:10.20 They were inscribed on both sides, front and back. 00:47:10.23\00:47:12.65 The tablets were the work of God, 00:47:12.68\00:47:14.45 the writing was the writing of God engraved on the tablets. 00:47:14.48\00:47:19.12 So this is the law of all mighty God. 00:47:19.15\00:47:23.38 When Joshua heard the noise of the people shouting, 00:47:23.41\00:47:25.82 he said to Moses, 'There is the sound of war in the camp. 00:47:25.85\00:47:29.27 'Moses replied, 'it is not the sound of victory, 00:47:29.30\00:47:31.56 it is not the sound of defeat, 00:47:31.59\00:47:33.53 it is the sound of singing that I here.' 00:47:33.56\00:47:36.86 When Moses approached the camp 00:47:36.89\00:47:39.27 and saw the calf and the dancing." 00:47:39.30\00:47:44.50 Those of you who are advocates of dancing, look at the text. 00:47:44.53\00:47:52.50 "He saw the calf and the dancing his anger burned 00:47:52.53\00:47:56.21 and he threw the tablets out of his hands, 00:47:56.24\00:47:58.64 breaking them to pieces at the foot of the mountain. 00:47:58.67\00:48:01.52 And he took the calf they had made 00:48:01.55\00:48:03.93 and burned it in the fire, then he ground it to powder, 00:48:03.96\00:48:07.62 scattered it on the water and made the Israelites drink it 00:48:07.65\00:48:12.43 He said to Aaron" what did you do? 00:48:12.46\00:48:14.58 Aaron, you're my offsider, 00:48:14.61\00:48:16.57 you're my assistant God is called you, 00:48:16.60\00:48:19.18 I was up there getting the commands. 00:48:19.21\00:48:21.34 Aaron said, well you know, what the people are like, 00:48:21.37\00:48:23.64 the people got upset and they brought me all their jewelry 00:48:23.67\00:48:27.05 and I threw this into the fire and the calf came out. 00:48:27.08\00:48:31.97 These stories teach us not the sins of the Israelites 00:48:35.69\00:48:41.43 and the Jews but they teach that also. 00:48:41.46\00:48:44.53 They teach us our own sins. 00:48:44.56\00:48:48.83 As the God said, how prone we are to leave the God we love. 00:48:48.86\00:48:56.33 Don't think that the great characters of the Bible 00:48:56.36\00:49:00.95 will like the people who win the Oscars and the Emmys. 00:49:00.98\00:49:04.45 Or the people on some of the American television shows 00:49:04.48\00:49:11.14 that the Americans go crazy over. 00:49:11.17\00:49:14.86 The great characters of the Bible 00:49:14.89\00:49:17.16 were not mambie pambies, colorless, bloodless whips. 00:49:17.19\00:49:25.16 Moses had the capacity to get angry, 00:49:26.85\00:49:30.00 is called righteous indignation. 00:49:30.03\00:49:32.00 There is a need for righteous indignation today. 00:49:32.03\00:49:35.08 God's people need to be 00:49:35.11\00:49:36.58 righteously indignant against lying, 00:49:36.61\00:49:41.08 laziness, blasphemy, cowardice, abuse of human beings. 00:49:41.11\00:49:47.10 While human being, did you know today that in the world 00:49:47.13\00:49:50.50 there are more slaves now than in the days of John Newton 00:49:50.53\00:49:58.50 And will go before, worst lives, 00:49:58.53\00:50:04.58 so he was man and could getting mad as we would say again said, 00:50:07.45\00:50:12.71 which is evil be careful because most us get angry, 00:50:12.74\00:50:18.70 but he had righteously indignant 00:50:18.73\00:50:22.52 Then he went to God and he said, 00:50:22.55\00:50:23.92 God I know these people are not worth much but he said, 00:50:23.95\00:50:26.99 if you going to brought anybody out of the book 00:50:27.02\00:50:29.16 brought my name out. 00:50:29.19\00:50:30.59 That's why God loves him so much. 00:50:30.62\00:50:34.26 He have not only a heart for God, 00:50:34.29\00:50:36.40 he had the heart of God. 00:50:36.43\00:50:38.93 And then you got 40 years 00:50:38.96\00:50:42.14 another 40 years in the wilderness. 00:50:42.17\00:50:47.08 I've been to the wilderness. 00:50:47.11\00:50:48.82 The bible says it's dreadful place the Bible the right. 00:50:48.85\00:50:55.45 It's a land of Bible says, 00:50:55.48\00:50:56.94 of scorpions and snakes at hunger and thirst, 00:50:56.97\00:51:04.21 so that wasn't the problem. 00:51:04.24\00:51:05.61 Don't have time to tell you they were the rebellions 00:51:05.64\00:51:10.73 rebellion of the people of God. 00:51:10.76\00:51:13.31 Kora, take it and abide. 00:51:13.34\00:51:16.83 Two hundred and fifty leaders got together at one time 00:51:16.86\00:51:20.37 they wanted to stone Moses, 00:51:20.40\00:51:26.62 really the climax of his life came I think 00:51:26.65\00:51:29.40 or the climax we follow, the big climax 00:51:29.43\00:51:34.25 when the people complaining of a wanted to go back to Egypt 00:51:34.28\00:51:38.85 and they were thirsty. 00:51:38.88\00:51:40.76 God said, Moses, Moses was now 120 years old. 00:51:40.79\00:51:44.98 He was tired, he was worried. 00:51:45.01\00:51:49.95 God understood, I think God said, 00:51:49.98\00:51:52.89 you see that work strike it once. 00:51:52.92\00:51:57.54 You know what the rock represented Jesus. 00:51:57.57\00:52:00.56 Moses went to the rock, he was tired, 00:52:00.59\00:52:03.51 he was exaggerated and took the staff 00:52:03.54\00:52:08.13 and he strike it and he said, then he staggered again, 00:52:08.16\00:52:11.22 thus we fetch you water out of this rock, rebels. 00:52:11.25\00:52:19.22 Think God doesn't care?
