It's hard. 00:02:59.39\00:03:02.94 It's hard, it's hard to speak practically, 00:03:02.97\00:03:04.92 the recovery side of it in sense it 00:03:04.95\00:03:06.60 is supposed to be about exercise. 00:03:06.63\00:03:08.57 And people maybe wondering what this is about 00:03:08.60\00:03:10.58 and there's a story behind this right here. 00:03:10.61\00:03:14.16 You know, when I finally kind of came to the place, 00:03:14.19\00:03:16.25 okay, I am depressed, I have these things going on 00:03:16.28\00:03:18.07 and the first thing I did was go get a physical. 00:03:18.10\00:03:20.13 I didn't had a physical and I don't know how long 00:03:20.16\00:03:22.03 so I wanted to make sure that, 00:03:22.06\00:03:24.18 there were no underlying other medical conditions 00:03:24.21\00:03:26.57 other than knowing that Parkinson's 00:03:26.60\00:03:28.30 is probably a part of that. 00:03:28.33\00:03:30.86 My colleague told me about a guy 00:03:30.89\00:03:32.41 who work with Focal Dystonia, he's a trumpet player 00:03:32.44\00:03:34.68 who had it and so I actually Skype 00:03:34.71\00:03:37.31 to a guy in Sweden and got some help. 00:03:37.34\00:03:40.11 And the things that he gave me were very, very beneficial. 00:03:40.14\00:03:44.32 And also there was somebody in ministry 00:03:44.35\00:03:47.67 that was working with Parkinson's 00:03:47.70\00:03:49.18 that took some Amantadine Sulphate 00:03:49.21\00:03:51.59 you got prescribed from Loma Linda. 00:03:51.62\00:03:53.26 So we got that. 00:03:53.29\00:03:54.32 We got that, you mention that and that tip came from Shelly 00:03:54.35\00:03:56.97 and started doing that and so my GP just looked at me 00:03:57.00\00:04:01.18 and he said, okay, you're 56-years-old 00:04:01.21\00:04:04.03 and if you're baseball player 00:04:04.06\00:04:06.00 what'd you be doing in the off season. 00:04:06.03\00:04:08.71 Preparing for the season coming. 00:04:08.74\00:04:09.99 If you are a football player. 00:04:10.02\00:04:11.13 If you were any kind of athlete what would you be doing? 00:04:11.16\00:04:13.38 You'd be preparing for what you're doing. 00:04:13.41\00:04:14.85 So what have you been physically to prepare 00:04:14.88\00:04:16.82 for your season of playing the trumpet, 00:04:16.85\00:04:18.70 'cause it's a physical thing. 00:04:18.73\00:04:20.89 And all of a sudden I'm going 00:04:20.92\00:04:21.95 well, I've had this natural talent wherever 00:04:21.98\00:04:24.19 we never had to do anything. 00:04:24.22\00:04:26.85 And so all the sudden it was like, 00:04:26.88\00:04:28.20 oh, well, oh, yeah, guys lose muscle after, 00:04:28.23\00:04:30.83 what about 20 years old, 00:04:30.86\00:04:31.95 it's starting to beat down for older guys, right. 00:04:31.98\00:04:34.43 You just shock somebody that's watching. 20? 00:04:34.46\00:04:38.51 It's earlier for guys than for girls, 00:04:38.54\00:04:40.27 I'm just letting you know. 00:04:40.30\00:04:42.13 And so I was interesting to get to that place 00:04:42.16\00:04:44.06 so part of my recovery was 00:04:44.09\00:04:46.57 I actually needed to start exercising physically. 00:04:46.60\00:04:51.37 And so to me this is kind of a funny thing is some time, 00:04:51.40\00:04:55.60 not too long after I kind of starting 00:04:55.63\00:04:57.26 to make some progress back as we done 00:04:57.29\00:04:59.33 a little bit of the playing 00:04:59.36\00:05:00.47 with the help and another things. 00:05:00.50\00:05:03.21 Starting to let God tell you 00:05:03.24\00:05:05.21 that your identity is not in your trumpet, 00:05:05.24\00:05:07.44 you're a man of God and your identity is in Me. 00:05:07.47\00:05:09.97 'Cause I watch God do that, it was amazing 00:05:10.00\00:05:12.48 to watch Him love on you and say, you know what 00:05:12.51\00:05:15.36 you're value for me as now you're trumpet playing. 00:05:15.39\00:05:18.21 Even though He likes that about you. 00:05:18.24\00:05:19.58 Exactly, exactly. 00:05:19.61\00:05:21.73 To me it was really interesting and another thing 00:05:21.76\00:05:24.36 in this came from Shelly and I can't remember 00:05:24.39\00:05:26.10 what her conversation was but she was talking about something 00:05:26.13\00:05:29.97 and mentioned Numbers Chapter 10. 00:05:30.00\00:05:34.26 And needless to say the trumpet has 00:05:34.29\00:05:36.55 just as tiny little role in the Bible, right. 00:05:36.58\00:05:38.74 It only shows up once or twice. 00:05:38.77\00:05:40.17 Oh, not true. Shows up for everywhere. 00:05:40.20\00:05:42.02 Oh, wait a minute. Oh, that's right. 00:05:42.05\00:05:43.69 Oh, that's right, at the end of the time 00:05:43.72\00:05:45.57 Gabriel's gonna be playing a violin. 00:05:45.60\00:05:48.09 Oh, sorry, wait the end plagues were announced by an Obo. 00:05:48.12\00:05:51.90 Oh, wait a minute, now that was a trumpet, too. 00:05:51.93\00:05:53.74 Okay. Wait a minute. 00:05:53.77\00:05:55.65 Early on the guys who went out 00:05:55.68\00:05:57.85 in front of the soldiers were the tambourine players. 00:05:57.88\00:06:00.63 Oh, wait now those are trumpet players, too. 00:06:00.66\00:06:02.92 So its amazing to look at the role of the trumpet 00:06:02.95\00:06:06.45 in the Bible and the significance that it has 00:06:06.48\00:06:09.76 and then start looking at, wait a minute, I play the trumpet 00:06:09.79\00:06:12.13 and so she did this thing with Numbers 10:10 00:06:12.16\00:06:15.00 where it was interesting to look at, 00:06:15.03\00:06:16.66 the first written record of trumpets kind of 00:06:16.69\00:06:20.90 modern day trumpets really or hammered metal trumpets 00:06:20.93\00:06:23.44 Moses was commanded to make two silver hammer trumpets. 00:06:23.47\00:06:26.39 This is not a show for, this is not a ram sound, 00:06:26.42\00:06:28.15 these are metal trumpets. 00:06:28.18\00:06:29.85 Then it goes on to say that 00:06:29.88\00:06:31.50 only priests can play the trumpets. 00:06:31.53\00:06:33.62 So I'm thinking, oh, I'm supposed to be in my journey, 00:06:33.65\00:06:36.06 oh, I'm called to be the priest of my household, 00:06:36.09\00:06:39.09 so I'm the trumpet player, I'm kind of looking all this stuff. 00:06:39.12\00:06:41.91 And then what was interesting too was to look at okay, 00:06:41.94\00:06:44.59 the trumpet definitely is for signaling and signaling, 00:06:44.62\00:06:46.81 warning to the things like that but at the end of chapter 10, 00:06:46.84\00:06:50.07 it starts to talk about play the trumpet in times of joy 00:06:50.10\00:06:54.78 and at your festivals to remind God of His covenant with you. 00:06:54.81\00:07:00.11 Isn't that amazing? 00:07:00.14\00:07:01.62 That He's covenant with you, 00:07:01.65\00:07:02.92 excuse me I would just, I like to remind you. 00:07:02.95\00:07:07.14 And you're doming. I'm just saying. 00:07:07.17\00:07:09.25 Exactly, exactly. How incredible is that? 00:07:09.28\00:07:12.13 It was amazing and what was really fun for me was-- 00:07:12.16\00:07:14.37 After year do you believe the trumpets are played? 00:07:14.40\00:07:16.75 I mean, there's all, all of that is so huge. 00:07:16.78\00:07:20.12 Well, and then to start going into the idea of 00:07:20.15\00:07:24.02 I need to get fit, right, we need to exercise 00:07:24.05\00:07:26.73 and you talked about exercise being physical 00:07:26.76\00:07:28.62 and we will get to this but you know 00:07:28.65\00:07:30.66 we have to exercise our spirituality as well 00:07:30.69\00:07:33.64 and I think its easy to forget one of those 00:07:33.67\00:07:36.08 or both of those or you start doing one 00:07:36.11\00:07:37.73 you forget the other and you do this one 00:07:37.76\00:07:39.13 and you forget that one, you get tied up with this. 00:07:39.16\00:07:41.90 It's hard sometimes when you feel like you have nothing 00:07:41.93\00:07:44.78 to even get yourself to open up the Bible. 00:07:44.81\00:07:47.31 I mean, it's hard you know, I'm telling you 00:07:47.34\00:07:49.05 for those people who have been depressed you understand 00:07:49.08\00:07:50.99 and been in this place you know, you can't get out of bed. 00:07:51.02\00:07:53.79 You can sleep for 14 hours and you get up for half hour 00:07:53.82\00:07:56.01 and go get something to eat 00:07:56.04\00:07:57.07 and go right back to bed sleep for 12 hours. 00:07:57.10\00:07:59.22 You're just tired, you exhausted 00:07:59.25\00:08:00.42 all that stuff going on. 00:08:00.45\00:08:01.89 But was interesting is as I started to come out of this 00:08:01.92\00:08:05.72 and do it through exercise, trying to eat well, 00:08:05.75\00:08:09.09 I tried some antidepressant medication 00:08:09.12\00:08:11.72 and it made me feel horrible, I-- maybe heavy words 00:08:11.75\00:08:14.98 it was like times so not doing this because its terrible. 00:08:15.01\00:08:18.48 Yeah, it says depression on it maybe that means 00:08:18.51\00:08:20.74 if you take it you get depressed, I don't know. 00:08:20.77\00:08:23.31 You did, you were horrible on it. 00:08:23.34\00:08:25.06 I was horrible. So it went away and-- 00:08:25.09\00:08:26.77 He forgot how to talk I mean, it was terrible. 00:08:26.80\00:08:28.65 And my mom had sent me something which is really cool, 00:08:28.68\00:08:30.73 I love how you get messages from different places 00:08:30.76\00:08:32.65 and God will talk to you through different people 00:08:32.68\00:08:35.12 and different things if you just have your eyes open. 00:08:35.15\00:08:36.66 She sent me a book about depression general overview 00:08:36.69\00:08:39.17 and at the end it says oh, 30 to 60 minutes of 00:08:39.20\00:08:42.24 vigorous exercise daily can be as effective as any medicine. 00:08:42.27\00:08:47.28 You know, and so I thought okay, I'm gonna do that. 00:08:47.31\00:08:49.98 And so what was interesting was to get my way worked 00:08:50.01\00:08:53.64 out of that and understand that 00:08:53.67\00:08:56.16 exercising now is part of my daily life 00:08:56.19\00:08:58.19 and the things I have to do regularly. 00:08:58.22\00:09:00.86 It's really curious to find out because I know maintenance 00:09:00.89\00:09:04.31 right, maintaining what we do is, 00:09:04.34\00:09:06.83 and so I have to maintain exercise, 00:09:06.86\00:09:08.33 I need to maintain my time in the word 00:09:08.36\00:09:10.64 and so that you know, God can be talking to me 00:09:10.67\00:09:13.56 and guiding me with all that. 00:09:13.59\00:09:15.09 It's really interesting with physical exercise 00:09:15.12\00:09:18.02 if I stop doing something 00:09:18.05\00:09:20.00 how quickly I can see it in my muscle. 00:09:20.03\00:09:22.59 And so you know, I wish we could do that spiritually 00:09:22.62\00:09:24.95 'cause we can't and you know, it's like all of a sudden 00:09:24.98\00:09:27.63 the devil kind of puts a little fear there, little doubt there 00:09:27.66\00:09:30.89 and little anger here or whatever 00:09:30.92\00:09:33.54 and God says daily you got to stay in touch with Me 00:09:33.57\00:09:35.70 'cause just like your physical exercise 00:09:35.73\00:09:37.78 there's daily changes that happen when you let this go. 00:09:37.81\00:09:40.99 Yeah, and so it was fun, it was fun was knowing 00:09:41.02\00:09:43.82 that maintenance was about what we're doing, 00:09:43.85\00:09:45.78 yes, of course, I was trying to be prepared for today 00:09:45.81\00:09:49.39 and so I had a chance to do little bit of study coming over 00:09:49.42\00:09:52.45 and stuff and it was really the fun to find out 00:09:52.48\00:09:54.40 and I found this generalities within 00:09:54.43\00:09:56.69 what God's asking for us, it's just kind of 00:09:56.72\00:09:58.41 an Old Testament concept about maintenance 00:09:58.44\00:10:00.45 and a New Testament concept about maintenance. 00:10:00.48\00:10:02.65 But I love this one in Solomon 00:10:02.68\00:10:04.19 He talks about asking God to maintain their coast 00:10:04.22\00:10:08.02 God is maintaining us in the Old Testament 00:10:08.05\00:10:10.77 and I love this one where it says 00:10:10.80\00:10:12.19 when they are battling their enemies, amen 00:10:12.22\00:10:14.49 our addictions or depressions or whatever it is, or fears, 00:10:14.52\00:10:18.80 whatever it may be to maintain their cause after their sin 00:10:18.83\00:10:22.88 and returning to Him, right, so we repent 00:10:22.91\00:10:25.49 and we say you know, I'm so good 00:10:25.52\00:10:27.56 and you know, its like maintain their cause 00:10:27.59\00:10:28.95 or maintain, just help maintain them. 00:10:28.98\00:10:30.92 And then God will maintain it. 00:10:30.95\00:10:32.21 I love when you said that the first time. 00:10:32.24\00:10:33.44 Yeah, and then give them each day 00:10:33.47\00:10:36.79 what they require for that day which again 00:10:36.82\00:10:38.68 with that daily maintenance is about that whole thing. 00:10:38.71\00:10:41.80 And so I just, when I read that I thought, 00:10:41.83\00:10:43.62 oh, how cool is that because that's what I need, 00:10:43.65\00:10:45.84 I need the daily thing in my darkest hour 00:10:45.87\00:10:48.42 You will maintain me when I stumble to stand backup 00:10:48.45\00:10:51.62 You are still there for me and then everyday 00:10:51.65\00:10:54.40 You'll give me what I need which is really cool. 00:10:54.43\00:10:56.79 And you're doing that and I love the fact 00:10:56.82\00:10:59.39 I'm watching you do that 00:10:59.42\00:11:00.87 with some pretty serious things coming down the pike. 00:11:00.90\00:11:04.36 You know, so you know, like, you were talking about 00:11:04.39\00:11:06.54 you know, what happens when we have cancer or Parkinson's 00:11:06.57\00:11:09.42 or all of the sudden something changes 00:11:09.45\00:11:11.60 I don't have control over this, 00:11:11.63\00:11:13.04 I may or may not have healing here 00:11:13.07\00:11:15.74 'cause only God knows that and I trust Him with that, 00:11:15.77\00:11:19.46 but as we head down those things who am I? 00:11:19.49\00:11:22.38 Where is my identity? 00:11:22.41\00:11:23.87 'Cause now it's so clear that your identity is in God. 00:11:23.90\00:11:27.35 Is in God. Yeah. 00:11:27.38\00:11:28.41 And standing next to you in ministry 00:11:28.44\00:11:29.90 and what does that called for, it's really pretty amazing. 00:11:29.93\00:11:32.67 So, so I don't know how many people 00:11:32.70\00:11:35.15 are familiar with this and what this is? 00:11:35.18\00:11:37.21 That was a funniest story ever. 00:11:37.24\00:11:38.52 This is it, this is it, so I, you know, 00:11:38.55\00:11:40.69 I'm doing little better in stuff 00:11:40.72\00:11:42.12 and I just called to see what you're doing 00:11:42.15\00:11:43.57 and I say, oh, hey, baby, what are you doing? 00:11:43.60\00:11:45.11 I'm traveling. No, you're not. 00:11:45.14\00:11:46.46 You said, oh, I'm at the store, shopping. 00:11:46.49\00:11:48.66 And my response was, oh, make sure 00:11:48.69\00:11:50.24 you buy your husband a lovely gift. 00:11:50.27\00:11:52.00 I mean, isn't that what you would say, 00:11:52.03\00:11:53.25 right, if your wife is shopping. 00:11:53.28\00:11:54.34 That's it and he's never said that. Its 25 years. 00:11:54.37\00:11:56.17 Twenty five years, I believe you don't say that. 00:11:56.20\00:11:57.23 And he said that this day. 00:11:57.26\00:11:58.29 And so she happens to be at a store 00:11:58.32\00:12:00.65 that features kitchen and bath items. 00:12:00.68\00:12:03.04 Yeah. 00:12:03.07\00:12:04.10 And so she's walking around, okay, 00:12:04.13\00:12:05.64 I'm supposed to buy him a lovely gift. 00:12:05.67\00:12:07.14 What in the world am I gonna get him here 00:12:07.17\00:12:09.21 and she's walking around 00:12:09.24\00:12:10.77 and there's a stack of shake weights-- 00:12:10.80\00:12:12.96 Let me just tell this part and then I get back to you. 00:12:12.99\00:12:15.31 So I'm walking around and I see this stack of shake weight 00:12:15.34\00:12:18.45 and they are just ridiculous, when they first came out they, 00:12:18.48\00:12:21.09 people made jokes about them, they're so ridiculous. 00:12:21.12\00:12:23.53 And God says, get him that. 00:12:23.56\00:12:25.50 And I thought, oh, that's got to be a joke, 00:12:25.53\00:12:27.30 there's no way, you know. 00:12:27.33\00:12:29.21 So I walked away tried to find something else, 00:12:29.24\00:12:31.44 God brought me back and He said, no, no, get him that. 00:12:31.47\00:12:34.37 And finally I thought, okay, because I felt it was 00:12:34.40\00:12:36.29 so clearly from God, so I bought him that, 00:12:36.32\00:12:38.73 put it on the kitchen table when I got home. 00:12:38.76\00:12:41.13 Brad comes down-- 00:12:41.16\00:12:42.37 I come downstairs in the morning and there's like, 00:12:42.40\00:12:44.67 there's like shake weight on a table and I'm like, what? 00:12:44.70\00:12:48.48 That is the most ridiculous thing, I mean, I can't, I can't 00:12:48.51\00:12:51.71 this was like the laughing stock of the exercise world. 00:12:51.74\00:12:54.37 I mean, what in-- 00:12:54.40\00:12:55.52 Didn't so because people made fun of it so much. 00:12:55.55\00:12:56.66 Yeah, that's why you see them for you know, 00:12:56.69\00:12:58.55 three dollars on the discount table 00:12:58.58\00:13:00.40 you know, and all that kind of stuff. 00:13:00.43\00:13:01.65 What in the world would I possibly do with this? 00:13:01.68\00:13:03.95 Okay, I'm trying hard to connect emotionally 00:13:03.98\00:13:06.20 with my wife, she brought me this thing, 00:13:06.23\00:13:08.53 if I don't take it out of the box 00:13:08.56\00:13:11.03 I'm gonna be in big trouble. 00:13:11.06\00:13:14.00 So I take it out of the box and I grab it with my hands 00:13:14.03\00:13:18.85 and I put it like this 00:13:18.88\00:13:21.36 and what position are my hands in, 00:13:21.39\00:13:23.78 you could take the shake weight out and put what in my hands? 00:13:23.81\00:13:26.97 A trumpet. A trumpet. 00:13:27.00\00:13:28.60 And so I started going like this and I realized this thing 00:13:28.63\00:13:32.23 is working the entire skeletal muscular structure 00:13:32.26\00:13:36.40 that has been shaking like crazy 00:13:36.43\00:13:38.20 every time I pick up my trumpet. 00:13:38.23\00:13:40.55 And so if I start doing this everyday 00:13:40.58\00:13:42.49 I'm gonna be working all those muscles, 00:13:42.52\00:13:44.10 they're gonna get stronger, they're gonna get more powerful 00:13:44.13\00:13:46.15 they're not gonna shake because they're being used 00:13:46.18\00:13:47.93 and used in a proper way. 00:13:47.96\00:13:49.60 And it is the most amazing gift. 00:13:49.63\00:13:51.39 You do it everyday? I do it everyday. 00:13:51.42\00:13:53.12 And you know it's from God, I mean, both of us realized 00:13:53.15\00:13:55.80 when you picked it up and I saw that your hands 00:13:55.83\00:13:59.18 were in the form of trumpet, I wanted to say 00:13:59.21\00:14:02.01 can I grab God and kiss Him on the face. 00:14:02.04\00:14:03.96 How does He do that? 00:14:03.99\00:14:05.34 I know, it's amazing, it's amazing to try and figure out 00:14:05.37\00:14:07.55 how does He know those kinds of things. 00:14:07.58\00:14:09.69 And so that, you know that-- 00:14:09.72\00:14:10.93 And it is His love for us so personal. 00:14:10.96\00:14:13.04 Oh, it's just, it's absolutely unbelievable. 00:14:13.07\00:14:16.32 And so that part really you know, 00:14:16.35\00:14:18.31 is looking at those steps about maintaining 00:14:18.34\00:14:20.38 what's it take and that maintenance 00:14:20.41\00:14:22.80 you know, to me it's like I start to understand 00:14:22.83\00:14:25.32 that the idea of one exercising and this is real care 00:14:25.35\00:14:29.42 and this has been coming to me a lot lately 00:14:29.45\00:14:31.05 so I have a chance to say it right now. 00:14:31.08\00:14:33.12 You know, we get so caught up, 00:14:33.15\00:14:35.00 oh, I have to spend time in worship 00:14:35.03\00:14:36.49 and I have to spend time on my job 00:14:36.52\00:14:37.91 and I have to spend time here. 00:14:37.94\00:14:40.47 We believe that our body is the temple, 00:14:40.50\00:14:43.71 you know, that we have this connection 00:14:43.74\00:14:45.27 that really our spirituality 00:14:45.30\00:14:48.09 and our physical being are completely intervolving. 00:14:48.12\00:14:52.39 And yet, somehow for many of us the physical side of our-- 00:14:52.42\00:14:57.12 Journey. 00:14:57.15\00:14:58.28 Journey gets left really till, 00:14:58.31\00:15:00.30 way late till at the end of the day or whatever, 00:15:00.33\00:15:02.36 I don't really have time, I don't have this. 00:15:02.39\00:15:04.69 And I'm back to this in my mind 00:15:04.72\00:15:06.47 and its coming more clear all the time. 00:15:06.50\00:15:08.62 If we get ourselves physically fit 00:15:08.65\00:15:11.49 we can communicate with God better, 00:15:11.52\00:15:13.21 we can do whatever job it is 00:15:13.24\00:15:14.71 and whatever job that is you're gonna do it better, 00:15:14.74\00:15:17.54 you're gonna be able to relate to your spouse better, 00:15:17.57\00:15:19.39 your gonna be able to all this stuff better 00:15:19.42\00:15:21.76 and its just, its we've really lost sight of that 00:15:21.79\00:15:26.24 and if we believe that connection, 00:15:26.27\00:15:28.20 our spiritual connection really isn't tied 00:15:28.23\00:15:29.86 into what we do physically. 00:15:29.89\00:15:32.04 Well, you know, you even, as you say that 00:15:32.07\00:15:33.91 what's really interesting is for some people 00:15:33.94\00:15:36.80 they know that I just diagnosed with Celiacs disease 00:15:36.83\00:15:39.87 and they literally removed all of my guts 00:15:39.90\00:15:42.30 and then put them back in to tell me that-- 00:15:42.33\00:15:43.55 I know, I was there. I know its so ridiculous. 00:15:43.58\00:15:46.66 But you know, so even now I don't realize 00:15:46.69\00:15:49.50 that even what we eat really effects our entire body 00:15:49.53\00:15:54.01 and as much as I've tried to resist that all my life, 00:15:54.04\00:15:57.31 because I just not that disciplined as that exercise 00:15:57.34\00:16:00.14 and what we eat and drinking water 00:16:00.17\00:16:02.19 and laughing out loud with our families, 00:16:02.22\00:16:04.65 like its important to do those things 00:16:04.68\00:16:06.48 as important as anything else we do. 00:16:06.51\00:16:09.54 And so if we're gonna maintain our recovery 00:16:09.57\00:16:11.45 and we start to let those things go we're in trouble. 00:16:11.48\00:16:14.28 We're in trouble. We really are in trouble. 00:16:14.31\00:16:15.73 Yeah, and it's interesting I think in our youth 00:16:15.76\00:16:19.46 were probably were able the resilient seed of our youth 00:16:19.49\00:16:23.02 allows us to get away with a lot of things. 00:16:23.05\00:16:25.06 But as we chronologically advance in life-- 00:16:25.09\00:16:29.90 I like the way you say that, yes. 00:16:29.93\00:16:31.94 Nicely enough. 00:16:31.97\00:16:33.16 You know, that suddenly the significance 00:16:33.19\00:16:36.76 and the importance of the exercise side of it 00:16:36.79\00:16:40.10 and I, is much greater. 00:16:40.13\00:16:42.71 I mean, it's just, it's absolutely moving forward. 00:16:42.74\00:16:45.46 I'm convinced, you know, that we need 00:16:45.49\00:16:47.89 to continue her growth both in the word 00:16:47.92\00:16:50.27 but then that the idea of being physically fit 00:16:50.30\00:16:52.92 and choosing the right foods and all that stuff 00:16:52.95\00:16:55.56 and it's really interesting 'cause generally 00:16:55.59\00:16:57.74 we've had a pretty healthy diet 00:16:57.77\00:16:59.01 but now with the Celiacs all of a sudden 00:16:59.04\00:17:00.70 its taken to another level and you really can't cheat 00:17:00.73\00:17:04.65 'cause when you cheat you open a door-- 00:17:04.68\00:17:06.14 Oh, you know what, I'm gonna open 00:17:06.17\00:17:07.32 that for questions but I'm mad at you. Are you? 00:17:07.35\00:17:09.48 And I'm gonna say it on television because I can. 00:17:09.51\00:17:12.95 Is that I have Celiacs 00:17:12.98\00:17:14.98 and I supposed to be really careful, right. 00:17:15.01\00:17:16.99 And we go into a restaurant and I'm thinking 00:17:17.02\00:17:18.79 I'm so cheating and cheating to me, 00:17:18.82\00:17:21.33 now that is meant I'm going to have a vegetarian burrito 00:17:21.36\00:17:25.68 with a flour tortilla. 00:17:25.71\00:17:27.39 I mean, that's like cheating. 00:17:27.42\00:17:28.79 And so everything is good except I have a flour tortilla, 00:17:28.82\00:17:31.33 Brad's like, you're so not gonna have that. 00:17:31.36\00:17:33.44 I'm gonna have that. He walks out of the restaurant. 00:17:33.47\00:17:36.51 And I'm thinking I'm still having it 00:17:36.54\00:17:38.19 and I was sicker than a dog for like a week. 00:17:38.22\00:17:40.51 So I shouldn't have had it but all of that matters 00:17:40.54\00:17:43.27 and so we don't get nailed with things like, we don't, 00:17:43.30\00:17:47.42 not do our devotions and then get sick for a week. 00:17:47.45\00:17:49.56 We don't, not exercising get sick for a week. 00:17:49.59\00:17:52.01 Some of us deal with our diseases 00:17:52.04\00:17:54.40 but man, God says you know what, 00:17:54.43\00:17:56.35 in a spiritual sense you do take yourself out for a while. 00:17:56.38\00:18:00.11 And so if we're gonna maintain a recovery, 00:18:00.14\00:18:01.88 let's maintain a recovery and be smart about it 00:18:01.91\00:18:04.81 'cause everything matters and it's so cool when you say, 00:18:04.84\00:18:07.74 you know, what, I'm gonna actually take care of myself. 00:18:07.77\00:18:11.38 I'm gonna help God along with this. 00:18:11.41\00:18:13.66 I mean, I open up for questions if they, 00:18:13.69\00:18:15.87 my client now, you had a question. 00:18:15.90\00:18:18.00 Yeah, I can really relate to what you're saying, 00:18:18.03\00:18:20.45 being a musician myself, I play the piano a little bit 00:18:20.48\00:18:23.10 and just wondering when you'd mention 00:18:23.13\00:18:26.24 the you were like 250 pounds or something, 00:18:26.27\00:18:29.61 at one time what kind of a program 00:18:29.64\00:18:31.93 did you use to help bring the weight down? 00:18:31.96\00:18:35.99 Well, this is I think it's funny 00:18:36.02\00:18:37.63 because when you ride a bicycle 00:18:37.66\00:18:39.89 and that kind of thing, you have to get the stuff 00:18:39.92\00:18:41.58 that goes with it, right. 00:18:41.61\00:18:42.71 And the first thing is Spandex bike shorts. 00:18:42.74\00:18:45.94 You do look really adorable. 00:18:45.97\00:18:47.59 Oh, yeah, but this is, you know, so we're walking 00:18:47.62\00:18:49.35 and we have a shop that we're getting our stuff 00:18:49.38\00:18:51.14 and you know, he gets me a pair and I go in the dressing room 00:18:51.17\00:18:53.65 when I put them on and all they could hear from outside 00:18:53.68\00:18:56.35 and the thing is I'm fat, really aloud. 00:18:56.38\00:19:01.76 And so I really, it's funny I mean, 00:19:01.79\00:19:05.59 calories in and calories out, right. 00:19:05.62\00:19:07.02 So if you start exercising and you get hungry 00:19:07.05\00:19:09.23 and you eat a bunch more food your weight may not go down. 00:19:09.26\00:19:12.39 So its really about, really trying to make good choices 00:19:12.42\00:19:14.71 about what I ate, how much I ate, when I ate it you know, 00:19:14.74\00:19:18.43 and then starting to increase the exercise side of it 00:19:18.46\00:19:21.37 and you know, I mean, its continued to come off 00:19:21.40\00:19:24.28 which has been great, it wasn't you know, 00:19:24.31\00:19:25.82 didn't like just boom all of a sudden. 00:19:25.85\00:19:27.91 It wasn't the speed weight loss but overtime its comedown 00:19:27.94\00:19:30.74 and its continuing to go down so-- 00:19:30.77\00:19:32.51 And you're looking pretty adorable. 00:19:32.54\00:19:33.92 Oh, well, thank you. 00:19:33.95\00:19:35.01 You're welcome. Thank you. 00:19:35.04\00:19:36.56 What's really fun I think about all that is 00:19:36.59\00:19:38.51 that the exercise really changes everything 00:19:38.54\00:19:41.67 not so much just even the weight 00:19:41.70\00:19:43.83 but how hard you laugh 00:19:43.86\00:19:45.92 and the things that you want to do 00:19:45.95\00:19:48.61 and the energy that you have to do those things. 00:19:48.64\00:19:50.39 So there's so many changes 00:19:50.42\00:19:51.86 that happen that are beneficial. 00:19:51.89\00:19:53.88 On the things that I don't want to add to that too, 00:19:53.91\00:19:55.70 is generally speaking you're doing it with some other people 00:19:55.73\00:20:00.29 and they're laughing with you, 00:20:00.32\00:20:01.94 I mean that kind of stuff they're really, 00:20:01.97\00:20:03.73 it's hard to find people 00:20:03.76\00:20:04.98 who are trying to get healthy that generally are grumpy. 00:20:05.01\00:20:08.39 Yeah, there's a cool factor when you have 00:20:08.42\00:20:10.53 spend extra time on a bike though 00:20:10.56\00:20:12.64 you look really cool when the bike is right next to you 00:20:12.67\00:20:14.77 for every foot away from the bike you get 00:20:14.80\00:20:16.82 the less call you get, so you do have to watch that. 00:20:16.85\00:20:20.42 You got to watch it with this one. 00:20:20.45\00:20:21.51 Okay, any other questions? Yes, go ahead. 00:20:21.54\00:20:23.55 Hi, my name is Shedria and I had a bit of a health scare 00:20:23.58\00:20:27.27 when I was expecting my second child 00:20:27.30\00:20:30.57 with this blazer on my cervix and I was trying to figure out 00:20:30.60\00:20:36.01 you know, with husband having a health message, 00:20:36.04\00:20:40.34 you have the extreme over here and extreme over here 00:20:40.37\00:20:43.39 and this is kind of difficult to find the mystery 00:20:43.42\00:20:46.55 and one person is telling you, well, don't go to the doctors 00:20:46.58\00:20:50.28 just pray, just pray and God will deliver you. 00:20:50.31\00:20:52.88 And other people are telling you, well, you need to go 00:20:52.91\00:20:55.47 to the doctor you need to get all things prescribed 00:20:55.50\00:20:58.09 for whatever they're giving you 00:20:58.12\00:21:00.35 and I want to find a healthy medial in the mid. 00:21:00.38\00:21:02.77 I want to know how to have this fear to ask for 00:21:02.80\00:21:06.68 and still trust my doctor. 00:21:06.71\00:21:08.75 Absolutely. 00:21:08.78\00:21:09.90 So what would you suggest for me? 00:21:09.93\00:21:11.56 You know, I think that's a really excellent question 00:21:11.59\00:21:14.05 and I believe many of the modern medicines 00:21:14.08\00:21:19.17 and the skills that have been given to our surgeons 00:21:19.20\00:21:22.43 and our doctors are nothing less than a gift from God 00:21:22.46\00:21:25.53 because there's been very, very clearly documented cases 00:21:25.56\00:21:29.32 that without this particular treatment, 00:21:29.35\00:21:31.29 this person would not have survived. 00:21:31.32\00:21:32.79 For example the bike rides at the Leukemia Society, 00:21:32.82\00:21:35.97 okay, that research has funded medicines one 00:21:36.00\00:21:39.86 that get's called Tromoxasiler something like that, 00:21:39.89\00:21:42.77 that literally five years ago didn't exist 00:21:42.80\00:21:46.46 but this money that's been raised 00:21:46.49\00:21:48.09 and they raised over a billion dollars 00:21:48.12\00:21:50.06 but this money is raised as funded researchers 00:21:50.09\00:21:52.03 developed this particular drug for this kind of Leukemia 00:21:52.06\00:21:56.01 that people are alive, I've suddenly had people 00:21:56.04\00:21:58.28 stand in front of me say were not for the efforts 00:21:58.31\00:22:00.48 that these people made I would be dead. 00:22:00.51\00:22:02.93 However, now saying that is I would like to jump in 00:22:02.96\00:22:06.39 and say for a lot of us with our lifestyle diseases 00:22:06.42\00:22:10.74 that if we would have done the right thing over the years, 00:22:10.77\00:22:14.47 not in your case 'cause your case 00:22:14.50\00:22:15.96 you get here during the pregnancy and to me man, 00:22:15.99\00:22:18.57 I just want to say and I will probably 00:22:18.60\00:22:21.06 get calls is check with your doctor. 00:22:21.09\00:22:23.56 Make sure you know that you're okay. 00:22:23.59\00:22:25.96 There's a friend of mine who's an evangelistic 00:22:25.99\00:22:27.65 got Thyroid cancer 00:22:27.68\00:22:29.57 and they went in and did a innervation 00:22:29.60\00:22:31.61 and he's alive today because of that. 00:22:31.64\00:22:33.31 So I think that there's sometimes you just got to check 00:22:33.34\00:22:35.83 and sometimes you've got to say to yourself right now, 00:22:35.86\00:22:38.75 am I doing the things that I need to do 00:22:38.78\00:22:41.62 in order to avoid those lifestyle diseases. 00:22:41.65\00:22:44.46 And some of them are cancers, heart disease, diabetes 00:22:44.49\00:22:47.68 all that kind of stuff and like I found out 00:22:47.71\00:22:49.85 with the Celiacs disease if I would have been 00:22:49.88\00:22:52.78 eating properly I wouldn't have had the surgery 00:22:52.81\00:22:55.29 and they wouldn't have-- some gay wouldn't have been 00:22:55.32\00:22:56.77 holding my intestines in his hand. 00:22:56.80\00:22:58.58 You know what I mean? 00:22:58.61\00:22:59.69 Luckily when he went in there, there was nothing wrong 00:22:59.72\00:23:02.00 and they didn't have to remove anything 00:23:02.03\00:23:03.90 but its just like I, God had told me over the years, 00:23:03.93\00:23:07.29 Cheri, please take care of yourself 00:23:07.32\00:23:09.25 and I said, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I will. 00:23:09.28\00:23:12.77 And never did and that He said it gently again, get on a bike, 00:23:12.80\00:23:17.64 do some exercise, get outside, drink some water, 00:23:17.67\00:23:20.74 eat healthier all that kind of stuff 00:23:20.77\00:23:22.81 and I think that I would've avoided 00:23:22.84\00:23:24.84 some things down the pike. 00:23:24.87\00:23:27.28 But there are times that doctors, 00:23:27.31\00:23:29.90 medicine paying attention we have some of the most 00:23:29.93\00:23:32.94 incredible medical facilities on the planet. 00:23:32.97\00:23:36.41 Loma Linda University and Bangkok hospital 00:23:36.44\00:23:39.36 and Sydney Adventist hospital 00:23:39.39\00:23:41.55 we have some incredible facilities 00:23:41.58\00:23:43.48 and there are cancer units 00:23:43.51\00:23:45.00 at those facilities that are to die for. 00:23:45.03\00:23:49.85 Yeah, to take you right to heaven. 00:23:49.88\00:23:51.09 All right, Brad, we've just feeling I will say 00:23:51.12\00:23:53.36 there's two things and though you agree, Brad, 00:23:53.39\00:23:55.52 paying attention to what you're doing now-- 00:23:55.55\00:23:57.32 Absolutely, absolutely 00:23:57.35\00:23:58.50 and I love the term of the lifestyle diseases 00:23:58.53\00:24:01.20 because we have some people that we care about very dearly 00:24:01.23\00:24:03.84 and we look at them 00:24:03.87\00:24:04.98 and its like you're eating yourself to death. 00:24:05.01\00:24:06.88 And why won't my body heal, why won't this infection go away? 00:24:06.91\00:24:10.01 Well, potato chips and diet soda, I mean, 00:24:10.04\00:24:12.40 technically that's vegetarian but you know, 00:24:12.43\00:24:14.66 that is not gonna help your body recover from many thing. 00:24:14.69\00:24:17.47 So there's a part to that I don't know if it's okay 00:24:17.50\00:24:19.86 to say the word common sense you know, 00:24:19.89\00:24:22.12 if you had a broken leg you would go to some one 00:24:22.15\00:24:24.63 and have them set it and so there's some things 00:24:24.66\00:24:27.32 and I really believe and now there's a fine line absolutely, 00:24:27.35\00:24:29.93 you don't want to take every last possible pill 00:24:29.96\00:24:32.00 or what can I take and you take all that's just silly. 00:24:32.03\00:24:34.85 But if it's really clear this is something 00:24:34.88\00:24:37.06 that makes a lot of sense. 00:24:37.09\00:24:38.34 Even there are people that we love 00:24:38.37\00:24:40.60 and then I have people from all different religions 00:24:40.63\00:24:44.06 and no religions or whatever they go to the doctor 00:24:44.09\00:24:46.79 and the doctor give them four more pills 00:24:46.82\00:24:48.66 to do the side effects from the two they've already taken 00:24:48.69\00:24:51.27 and so there are people that we love that you know, 00:24:51.30\00:24:53.78 and we've called them up and saying, 00:24:53.81\00:24:55.17 please don't take something else another thing 00:24:55.20\00:24:59.07 and yet but my doctor said. 00:24:59.10\00:25:01.31 So there's sometimes you got to be really careful with that 00:25:01.34\00:25:03.90 and for you know, I belong to a church 00:25:03.93\00:25:08.29 and we're health nuts I mean, we are health nuts 00:25:08.32\00:25:10.71 and I use to hate that but now I just absolutely love that 00:25:10.74\00:25:14.14 'cause I feel like my life is richer 00:25:14.17\00:25:18.28 because I take care of it 00:25:18.31\00:25:19.89 and its so it's like a matter of adding that exercise, 00:25:19.92\00:25:22.83 adding the proper foods, making sure that 00:25:22.86\00:25:25.76 you don't disregard the medical field 00:25:25.79\00:25:27.87 when you need it but man, pay attention 00:25:27.90\00:25:31.33 'cause there's some things that you can do 00:25:31.36\00:25:32.73 just by grabbing an apple. 00:25:32.76\00:25:34.79 Even within the bike riding the, I mean, these long rides 00:25:34.82\00:25:38.21 and during this there's gels and goose and supplements 00:25:38.24\00:25:40.67 and this and that and so there's a competitive cyclist 00:25:40.70\00:25:44.13 to use the contemporary of Lance Armstrong's 00:25:44.16\00:25:46.68 and so he's at that level of riding 00:25:46.71\00:25:48.27 that's decided can't we just eat food? 00:25:48.30\00:25:51.13 You know there's have to be this conclusion 00:25:51.16\00:25:52.93 or something somebody have made a goo or gel 00:25:52.96\00:25:54.88 or this or powder or you mix it with that. 00:25:54.91\00:25:56.92 And so he hired two chefs and these guys want 00:25:56.95\00:26:00.06 to developing a whole food program, 00:26:00.09\00:26:03.07 it's not Adventist I'm gonna say that 00:26:03.10\00:26:04.67 but it's just eating poor foods. 00:26:04.70\00:26:06.15 So I was able to take that and adopted to our choices 00:26:06.18\00:26:09.71 for eating on this 200 mile ride that I did 00:26:09.74\00:26:13.63 I was the second guy to cross the line 00:26:13.66\00:26:15.17 'cause I had food that fueled me. 00:26:15.20\00:26:16.60 Well, I didn't have to stop I had good energy, 00:26:16.63\00:26:19.06 I was the slowest guy in the team 00:26:19.09\00:26:20.36 and I was the second one to finish to the ride. 00:26:20.39\00:26:22.52 And you know-- He called me right away. 00:26:22.55\00:26:25.90 Yeah, guess what? Guess what? So exciting. 00:26:25.93\00:26:29.23 You know, Brad, you're talking about the different things 00:26:29.26\00:26:32.61 that you've been through lately, 00:26:32.64\00:26:35.20 I would like to come back, have you come back on the close 00:26:35.23\00:26:38.52 share with us not only how you got through there 00:26:38.55\00:26:43.29 but how you deal with the fact that you still probably 00:26:43.32\00:26:45.58 are gonna look at Parkinson's and different things? 00:26:45.61\00:26:47.93 How did you find your identity and can you pray with those 00:26:47.96\00:26:51.68 that are struggling with some really serious physical things 00:26:51.71\00:26:54.35 that may be lost right now. 00:26:54.38\00:26:55.59 Absolutely, I'd be honored to do so. 00:26:55.62\00:26:56.66 So you know what I'd like to just say stay tuned. 00:26:56.69\00:26:59.32 This part of it is really a cool thing 00:26:59.35\00:27:01.07 because sometimes the diseases are gonna be left 00:27:01.10\00:27:03.17 and we're still gonna look at that kind of stuff 00:27:03.20\00:27:05.31 that how do we do it with joy, 00:27:05.34\00:27:06.91 how do we do it and know that I'm okay. 00:27:06.94\00:27:10.25 My identity is in Christ and He is crazy about me. 00:27:10.28\00:27:14.36 We'll be right back. 00:27:14.39\00:27:15.82
