It satisfies it. 00:12:53.93\00:12:56.13 Now beans that I cook and what I know about food, 00:12:56.16\00:12:59.99 it's a little bit easier for me. 00:13:00.02\00:13:02.33 But use your imagination with food. 00:13:02.36\00:13:04.30 If you like a particular vegetable and you like pizza, 00:13:04.33\00:13:06.79 put those vegetables on there and create a pizza 00:13:06.82\00:13:09.74 that you'll enjoy but it won't have the calories. 00:13:09.77\00:13:12.30 It's really interesting to me when you talk about exercising 00:13:12.33\00:13:14.89 and, Aaron, you mentioned that. 00:13:14.92\00:13:16.31 But you talk about--I try to run 00:13:16.34\00:13:18.99 and I can't 'cause I have a new hip. 00:13:19.02\00:13:20.50 And so running was out of the question 00:13:20.53\00:13:22.04 but I got a bike and started to cycle and I'd love it. 00:13:22.07\00:13:26.63 You know, I got on the bike for the first time 00:13:26.66\00:13:28.25 and it was, like, I remembered 00:13:28.28\00:13:29.65 when I was a kid, I rode a bike everywhere. 00:13:29.68\00:13:31.28 I mean, I just rode bikes everywhere. 00:13:31.31\00:13:33.47 So it took me a while 00:13:33.50\00:13:36.14 but I probably in a week ride anywhere 00:13:36.17\00:13:39.42 from 30 to 70 miles in a week just 'cause we, you know, 00:13:39.45\00:13:42.87 we train for what's called a century ride every year. 00:13:42.90\00:13:45.88 So we ride 100 miles around Lake Tahoe. 00:13:45.91\00:13:47.89 It's called America's most beautiful bike ride. 00:13:47.92\00:13:50.10 But when I started that, 00:13:50.13\00:13:51.50 I couldn't go around the block, you know. 00:13:51.53\00:13:54.15 And now I can do 100 miles and not that I do 100 miles 00:13:54.18\00:13:57.27 every week but, I mean, 00:13:57.30\00:13:58.67 I do something every other day. 00:13:58.70\00:14:00.70 And so it's like being able to say is that 00:14:00.73\00:14:02.57 if I don't pay attention in all that, I'm gonna be in trouble. 00:14:02.60\00:14:06.30 And it's not just diet and it's not just exercise, 00:14:06.33\00:14:09.76 it's that, you know, you made a decision, Melody, 00:14:09.79\00:14:14.71 to grab hold of your life. 00:14:14.74\00:14:16.81 Do you know what I mean? Right. 00:14:16.84\00:14:18.21 You wanted your life back-- Satan took my life away from me. 00:14:18.24\00:14:20.72 You know, He took many precious years and stole them away 00:14:20.75\00:14:24.87 because and I gave them to him because that's all the junk. 00:14:24.90\00:14:28.43 Satan carries all this junk. 00:14:28.46\00:14:30.20 And he wants us to, you know, he gives us the junk to carry. 00:14:30.23\00:14:33.59 And I let him do that and I thought, 00:14:33.62\00:14:35.33 "No, I'm not gonna do this anymore. 00:14:35.36\00:14:37.65 I didn't like that person. 00:14:37.68\00:14:39.05 I was uncomfortable in her skin. 00:14:39.08\00:14:40.94 And I say her because 00:14:40.97\00:14:42.34 I've loved 100 pound woman somewhere out there. 00:14:42.37\00:14:44.14 She is floating around and I hope nobody ever takes her 00:14:44.17\00:14:46.94 because I don't want anybody to gain that weight. 00:14:46.97\00:14:49.59 But I have to say to anybody that is battling the battle 00:14:49.62\00:14:54.73 that you did is that there's something that I want to say 00:14:54.76\00:14:58.21 to that 100-pound woman that you left behind 00:14:58.24\00:15:00.54 is she really helped you to survive-- 00:15:00.57\00:15:02.31 Sure, she did. 00:15:02.34\00:15:03.71 And so, you know, for a lot of us 00:15:03.74\00:15:05.44 we have to learn to survive. 00:15:05.47\00:15:06.84 We have those survival skills, like, 00:15:06.87\00:15:08.47 if things are not going well, 00:15:08.50\00:15:09.87 if relationships are not going well, 00:15:09.90\00:15:11.40 if I'm disconnecting from people 00:15:11.43\00:15:13.46 that all of that has to be looked at, at the same time. 00:15:13.49\00:15:16.94 And little things in that area too for socially. 00:15:16.97\00:15:20.53 One of the first things that God had me do 00:15:20.56\00:15:22.80 and I really believe it was God. 00:15:22.83\00:15:24.32 I just heard this small voice say, 00:15:24.35\00:15:26.01 "You need to connect with people." 00:15:26.04\00:15:27.49 I didn't know how to do that well until He says, 00:15:27.52\00:15:29.80 "You know, take a crochet class." 00:15:29.83\00:15:31.65 And I laughed. 00:15:31.68\00:15:33.05 I'm thinking, 00:15:33.08\00:15:34.45 "You know, I am a heroin addict from the streets. 00:15:34.48\00:15:36.36 What do you mean a crochet class?" 00:15:36.39\00:15:37.89 You know, but it's in all of those areas, not just eating, 00:15:37.92\00:15:42.34 not just exercise but socialize again and get back out there, 00:15:42.37\00:15:45.95 grab hold of your life. 00:15:45.98\00:15:47.62 I had become kind of reclusive in some areas, you know, 00:15:47.65\00:15:51.20 even though I am a social bug. 00:15:51.23\00:15:53.16 If people would've known me even 6, 7 years ago, 00:15:53.19\00:15:56.60 I could not even get up in church to read scripture. 00:15:56.63\00:16:00.16 I had such stage fright and to be up in front of people 00:16:00.19\00:16:02.89 because my thought was, "Okay, is my skirt long enough? 00:16:02.92\00:16:06.61 Do I look okay? Do I look fat? 00:16:06.64\00:16:08.42 Is my make-up okay? What's my hair look like?" 00:16:08.45\00:16:10.39 I was so conscious of myself. And they didn't care. 00:16:10.42\00:16:14.82 They were just listening to a scripture 00:16:14.85\00:16:16.53 and that was some of my battle 00:16:16.56\00:16:17.93 whenever I felt God calling me to come 00:16:17.96\00:16:19.67 and do this health message, like, 00:16:19.70\00:16:21.07 "God, I can't get up in front of people." 00:16:21.10\00:16:22.64 How did you conquer some of that kind of stuff? 00:16:22.67\00:16:25.10 'Cause all of us have that stuff when we, 00:16:25.13\00:16:27.50 as we head into recovery. 00:16:27.53\00:16:28.90 Well, I didn't conquer it at all but I just kept praying. 00:16:28.93\00:16:32.93 When I took that step in my living room 00:16:32.96\00:16:34.46 and submitted to God 00:16:34.49\00:16:35.86 and I have to tell you real quick, you know, 00:16:35.89\00:16:38.45 I've put out fleeces all the time. 00:16:38.48\00:16:40.38 And I said, "Okay, God, if my husband, 00:16:40.41\00:16:42.71 You've got to convince him. 00:16:42.74\00:16:44.11 I'm convinced I need to do it. 00:16:44.14\00:16:45.64 So it's up to You to do that now. 00:16:45.67\00:16:47.64 You convince him." 00:16:47.67\00:16:49.04 And he comes in 'cause he didn't want me to go get a job, 00:16:49.07\00:16:51.13 a real job, you know. 00:16:51.16\00:16:52.53 He says, "You are crazy doing this, ministry." 00:16:52.56\00:16:54.86 And he walked, and I was in the kitchen that day 00:16:54.89\00:16:57.67 that I put that fleece out to the Lord. 00:16:57.70\00:16:59.42 And I'm, like, "Okay, You got do your job." 00:16:59.45\00:17:01.69 You know, I'm testing God, "You never do that." 00:17:01.72\00:17:04.36 So I'm in the kitchen doing my thing and I listen to these 00:17:04.39\00:17:07.92 ministry tapes during the day when I'm cooking. 00:17:07.95\00:17:10.19 And he usually comes in the house and, you know, 00:17:10.22\00:17:13.44 puts whatever, he takes his boots off and everything 00:17:13.47\00:17:15.98 and goes to the restroom and comes out 00:17:16.01\00:17:17.43 and I get dinner on the table 00:17:17.46\00:17:19.07 and then he usually says something. 00:17:19.10\00:17:21.05 And he walked in the door that day and he said, 00:17:21.08\00:17:23.06 "You know I've been thinking about it all day. 00:17:23.09\00:17:24.82 If you want to do this stuff, then you just need to do it." 00:17:24.85\00:17:28.33 And I looked up thinking that was way too fast. 00:17:28.36\00:17:32.62 You know, 'cause-- Now I got to move. 00:17:32.65\00:17:34.70 For like any recovery program really trust there is a God 00:17:34.73\00:17:37.50 and He's involved in the whole process. 00:17:37.53\00:17:40.07 Every step of the way. Every step. 00:17:40.10\00:17:41.54 And then I went as far as to, some people 00:17:41.57\00:17:44.00 who had been to some seminars that I helped with, Cheri, said, 00:17:44.03\00:17:48.28 "Come and do one for ours. 00:17:48.31\00:17:49.68 You've always been such a great cook. 00:17:49.71\00:17:51.16 You just got to come and do it." 00:17:51.19\00:17:52.56 I called them and scheduled one. 00:17:52.59\00:17:54.39 Scared to death, I went into the bathroom 00:17:54.42\00:17:58.22 just before I went up there to speak, just shaking. 00:17:58.25\00:18:02.22 You could see the bottom of my skirt shaking 00:18:02.25\00:18:04.64 and I knelt down in that stall, in that bathroom and I said, 00:18:04.67\00:18:07.49 "Lord, you've got to take this from me. I can't do it." 00:18:07.52\00:18:09.63 Yeah, I'm scared to death. I was scared to death. 00:18:09.66\00:18:11.74 I mean, I tear up just thinking about it. I was terrified. 00:18:11.77\00:18:15.06 And I went up there 00:18:15.09\00:18:16.46 and I got out from the bathroom, 00:18:16.49\00:18:18.81 went out there and I just, you know, 00:18:18.84\00:18:20.46 it was like the Israelites, you know. 00:18:20.49\00:18:22.11 "God, we can't walk across this. 00:18:22.14\00:18:23.67 Where are we gonna go? Behind this, on this side? 00:18:23.70\00:18:25.48 We can't go anywhere. They are surrounding us." 00:18:25.51\00:18:27.63 And God just parted the sea but what happened 00:18:27.66\00:18:29.76 He tested their faith first. 00:18:29.79\00:18:31.57 I had to get up there in front 00:18:31.60\00:18:32.97 and as soon as I got out in front, Cheri, it went away. 00:18:33.00\00:18:37.12 You know, I have to say that what's really amazing 00:18:37.15\00:18:39.78 to me is how faithful God can be. 00:18:39.81\00:18:41.85 And, you know, bringing this program to a close, 00:18:41.88\00:18:45.61 I feel like, you know, I wanted to just say 00:18:45.64\00:18:48.33 congratulations and everything 00:18:48.36\00:18:50.12 that you've gone through and everything that you've done. 00:18:50.15\00:18:51.78 And I know that because God is faithful, 00:18:51.81\00:18:55.22 this is just a beginning. 00:18:55.25\00:18:56.94 You're gonna have to learn a lot about yourself. Who you are? 00:18:56.97\00:18:59.57 What happens if you had not been robbed in this area, 00:18:59.60\00:19:03.47 your growth would've happened, 00:19:03.50\00:19:04.87 now it's gonna happen now instead of 20 years ago. 00:19:04.90\00:19:07.04 I just praise the Lord that He's using me. 00:19:07.07\00:19:08.57 You know, I did not, 00:19:08.60\00:19:10.44 for most of my life I did what Melody wanted 00:19:10.47\00:19:12.61 and I hope I can continue to do 00:19:12.64\00:19:14.40 what God wants me to do because He deserves that. 00:19:14.43\00:19:17.67 He is so wonderful. 00:19:17.70\00:19:19.07 You know, I'd like to be careful with that 'cause you didn't do 00:19:19.10\00:19:21.39 what Melody wanted, you were hijacked. 00:19:21.42\00:19:23.26 I was hijacked. 00:19:23.29\00:19:24.66 You know, we're talking on this season about being hijacked, 00:19:24.69\00:19:27.63 what hijacks our pleasure centers, what hijacks us? 00:19:27.66\00:19:30.90 And I think that our fear and our depression and, 00:19:30.93\00:19:34.28 you know, all of the sudden you're in a marriage 00:19:34.31\00:19:36.37 that wasn't working, 00:19:36.40\00:19:37.77 not that wasn't working but you were so young 00:19:37.80\00:19:39.30 and all that kind of stuff that you were hijacked. 00:19:39.33\00:19:41.69 And what you allowed to bring pleasure into your life was food 00:19:41.72\00:19:45.84 and usually the wrong kinds of foods. 00:19:45.87\00:19:47.39 And so for somebody that's alcoholic we do with alcohol, 00:19:47.42\00:19:50.48 somebody that's a drug addict, we do with drug, 00:19:50.51\00:19:52.75 sex addict we get online porn and we do the sexual stuff. 00:19:52.78\00:19:56.93 And I think that we get hijacked 00:19:56.96\00:19:58.33 and it takes years to kind of get ourselves back. 00:19:58.36\00:20:01.61 And finally God says, you know what, 00:20:01.64\00:20:03.88 "You've been lost for so long, I just want to find you again." 00:20:03.91\00:20:07.38 And so if I want to bring this to a close, 00:20:07.41\00:20:10.41 if you find that you've been hijacked in any area, 00:20:10.44\00:20:12.86 know that you got to do one thing at a time, 00:20:12.89\00:20:15.42 set tiny goals and get your life back. 00:20:15.45\00:20:18.74 See you next time, until then, 00:20:18.77\00:20:20.14 always remember that God is crazy about you. 00:20:20.17\00:20:22.32 Me too. 00:20:22.35\00:20:23.72
