I'm here with a lot of clams on one of the islands 00:00:01.40\00:00:04.17 just on a way from Nan Madol. 00:00:04.20\00:00:07.64 You think about a clam and pearls, 00:00:07.67\00:00:10.77 it gets a teeny single grain of sand inside somehow, 00:00:10.81\00:00:15.51 it begins an irritation process and that clam excretes 00:00:15.54\00:00:20.22 and forms, wrapping 00:00:20.25\00:00:22.72 around that sand seed as it were, 00:00:22.75\00:00:26.62 and it grows and grows 00:00:26.65\00:00:27.99 until it produces a gorgeous and beautiful pearl. 00:00:28.02\00:00:30.86 Today, we're going to look at some irritation. 00:00:30.89\00:00:34.00 And we're going to look at 00:00:34.03\00:00:35.36 what happened in some beautiful pearls. 00:00:35.40\00:00:36.90 Stay tuned. 00:00:36.93\00:00:38.27 You know, when Jesus came to this earth, 00:00:59.35\00:01:00.86 He came with a specific purpose of calling us back to Himself. 00:01:00.89\00:01:04.79 We've wandered far away 00:01:04.83\00:01:06.16 and His every act was designed to draw us closer. 00:01:06.19\00:01:09.56 Much of his time was spent 00:01:09.60\00:01:10.93 in relieving suffering and pain. 00:01:10.97\00:01:12.90 He's called us to do the same, 00:01:12.93\00:01:14.37 hence the mission of Canvasback 00:01:14.40\00:01:16.81 to be the healing hands to a suffering world. 00:01:16.84\00:01:19.54 Tell me what you think 00:01:31.05\00:01:32.39 of what Canvasback is doing here at the hospital, 00:01:32.42\00:01:36.22 the team that comes to? 00:01:36.26\00:01:37.59 Oh, fantastic. 00:01:37.63\00:01:38.96 I wish they could be here for six months. 00:01:38.99\00:01:42.63 If it's beyond six months, 00:01:42.66\00:01:44.00 then they would not have patients here. 00:01:44.03\00:01:45.50 Okay, but there's six months worth of patients? 00:01:45.53\00:01:47.47 Yeah. 00:01:47.50\00:01:48.84 I think so, 00:01:48.87\00:01:50.21 just they need to go through the process of exam. 00:01:50.24\00:01:53.81 And some of them may not need, 00:01:53.84\00:01:55.94 but there's a lot of them that need that to have that... 00:01:55.98\00:01:59.78 We think you are, could you direct? 00:02:04.72\00:02:07.42 Would you hold that for me? 00:02:07.46\00:02:08.92 See how it's doing today? 00:02:08.96\00:02:11.36 Umm, 00:02:11.39\00:02:12.73 T Z C O 00:02:12.76\00:02:17.37 L D P O F. 00:02:17.40\00:02:20.44 P T O C E T. 00:02:20.47\00:02:23.54 So, Mara, do you understand the language now 00:02:27.78\00:02:29.74 that you've been here? 00:02:29.78\00:02:31.11 I don't. I don't. 00:02:31.15\00:02:34.88 I really need to work on it a little bit, though. 00:02:34.92\00:02:36.69 I know. 00:02:36.72\00:02:38.05 I can tell when they say good. 00:02:38.09\00:02:40.76 I know one thing that you understand 00:02:40.79\00:02:42.32 the language of love and so do they. 00:02:42.36\00:02:43.96 Yeah, there's, 00:02:43.99\00:02:45.33 I think a lot is expressed through body language 00:02:45.36\00:02:47.80 when we don't have that communication. 00:02:47.83\00:02:52.23 You can still just smile 00:02:52.27\00:02:55.17 and make them feel comfortable 00:02:55.20\00:02:57.24 without really understanding their language at all. 00:02:57.27\00:02:59.97 And, Mara, you're here at Canvasback Mission. 00:03:05.25\00:03:08.52 Why are you here? 00:03:08.55\00:03:09.88 I... 00:03:09.92\00:03:11.25 Volunteerism as an important role 00:03:11.29\00:03:13.05 in what I do personally and as well as with our clinic. 00:03:13.09\00:03:16.02 So... 00:03:16.06\00:03:17.39 And what's your expertise? 00:03:17.43\00:03:18.76 All right, so ophthalmic techs at our clinic, 00:03:18.79\00:03:21.70 we work with patients, 00:03:21.73\00:03:23.06 we kind of triage what the needs might be, 00:03:23.10\00:03:25.30 and then move forward 00:03:25.33\00:03:26.70 and communicate it to the doctor. 00:03:26.74\00:03:29.04 How many years have you worked at your clinic? 00:03:29.07\00:03:30.71 Almost five. 00:03:30.74\00:03:32.07 Five years? So you got five years of experience. 00:03:32.11\00:03:34.28 And I assume you get a little vacation 00:03:34.31\00:03:36.51 from your clinic. 00:03:36.54\00:03:38.48 But I've also got a feeling 00:03:38.51\00:03:39.98 you spend that vacation time here. 00:03:40.02\00:03:43.05 Doing other volunteer events. 00:03:43.08\00:03:44.52 This is my first time in Pohnpei, so that's exciting. 00:03:44.55\00:03:48.49 Why on earth do you spend vacation time volunteering, 00:03:48.52\00:03:51.89 doing more of the things that you do at home? 00:03:51.93\00:03:55.10 There's just a... 00:03:55.13\00:03:56.73 In our house, there's a saying that hope anchors the soul. 00:03:56.77\00:03:59.43 And I think when we volunteer, 00:03:59.47\00:04:00.94 we provide hope to other people. 00:04:00.97\00:04:02.67 And doing that is really important. 00:04:02.70\00:04:05.57 So it's something that I get fulfillment from, 00:04:05.61\00:04:09.08 and I'm starting to pass it on to my kids. 00:04:09.11\00:04:11.35 My kids have been joining me on some of the events 00:04:11.38\00:04:13.95 and it's really even better to see as a parent 00:04:13.98\00:04:17.12 when your children become that same person 00:04:17.15\00:04:19.59 and giving back 00:04:19.62\00:04:20.96 and finding the joy out of doing so. 00:04:20.99\00:04:23.02 Now your children enjoying not, not overseas. 00:04:23.06\00:04:25.76 Not overseas. 00:04:25.79\00:04:27.13 I want it, I would bring them. 00:04:27.16\00:04:28.96 This was my first time going overseas. 00:04:29.00\00:04:30.67 So I wanted to try first 00:04:30.70\00:04:32.43 and then there's potential 00:04:32.47\00:04:34.30 I would love to have them do it. 00:04:34.34\00:04:35.67 And what do you think of this experience now 00:04:35.70\00:04:37.04 that you're here? 00:04:37.07\00:04:38.41 It's amazing. 00:04:38.44\00:04:39.77 I am full of gratitude for the opportunity 00:04:39.81\00:04:42.04 that people are very patient with us 00:04:42.08\00:04:44.35 as we learn our quirks 00:04:44.38\00:04:45.71 and trying to work out our kinks. 00:04:45.75\00:04:47.42 And they're very grateful 00:04:47.45\00:04:48.78 for the services they're getting. 00:04:48.82\00:04:50.15 So it makes it even more rewarding. 00:04:50.19\00:04:52.35 I know there's no way that we can possibly capture 00:04:52.39\00:04:55.92 all the people and the lives that have been changed, 00:04:55.96\00:04:58.79 but what are some of the moments 00:04:58.83\00:05:01.36 that you've peeled back those bandages, 00:05:01.40\00:05:03.50 and you've had some really cool experiences. 00:05:03.53\00:05:05.23 There have been, 00:05:05.27\00:05:06.60 we have a patient 00:05:06.63\00:05:07.97 who is actually a retina patient. 00:05:08.00\00:05:09.34 So the anticipation after cataract surgery 00:05:09.37\00:05:10.91 wasn't to improve his vision, 00:05:10.94\00:05:12.57 it was actually to improve our view 00:05:12.61\00:05:14.18 to correct his retina. 00:05:14.21\00:05:16.24 But yesterday, when we took this tape off, 00:05:16.28\00:05:18.61 we took it off and he said, 00:05:18.65\00:05:19.98 "That's what I'm talking about." 00:05:20.02\00:05:21.52 And those are the moments that you get that, 00:05:21.55\00:05:24.09 okay, this is really why I'm here. 00:05:24.12\00:05:26.76 Or there was a gentleman yesterday, 00:05:26.79\00:05:28.46 we took the tape off, and they're very reserved here. 00:05:28.49\00:05:31.09 So they don't show emotion. 00:05:31.13\00:05:32.59 But he became very welled up, 00:05:32.63\00:05:34.40 and had tears in his eyes 00:05:34.43\00:05:35.76 and said, "It's good. 00:05:35.80\00:05:37.13 It's good." 00:05:37.17\00:05:38.50 And so those are the moments that should go, 00:05:38.53\00:05:40.14 this is why I'm here. 00:05:40.17\00:05:41.50 Even if it's just a handful, they're worth it. 00:05:41.54\00:05:44.17 There's other people 00:05:44.21\00:05:45.54 maybe today that are kind of thinking about, 00:05:45.57\00:05:47.44 maybe, you know, I'd like to go sometime, 00:05:47.48\00:05:49.14 what would you tell those people 00:05:49.18\00:05:50.51 if they're hesitating? 00:05:50.55\00:05:51.88 I would say don't hesitate, participate. 00:05:51.91\00:05:54.45 I think that we all have the time to volunteer 00:05:54.48\00:05:56.58 if we make it 00:05:56.62\00:05:57.95 and it's something that you cannot monetarily ever 00:05:57.99\00:06:03.39 put a value on. 00:06:03.43\00:06:04.76 So you truly see Canvasback making an impact on lives? 00:06:04.79\00:06:07.43 Huge. I think it's an amazing. 00:06:07.46\00:06:10.33 Jacque has a program 00:06:10.37\00:06:12.70 that is unlike any other I've seen, 00:06:12.73\00:06:15.17 and I participate in quite a few. 00:06:15.20\00:06:17.51 In the US, it's a little different. 00:06:17.54\00:06:19.17 But she has it down to a science 00:06:19.21\00:06:21.44 and it's an amazing program. 00:06:21.48\00:06:23.31 The things are very well thought out, 00:06:23.35\00:06:26.25 they're very much return on investment 00:06:26.28\00:06:28.58 is beyond measure with the monetary value. 00:06:28.62\00:06:31.79 Now you say the ROI, return on investment. 00:06:31.82\00:06:36.86 Here it's free, 00:06:36.89\00:06:38.23 that the clinic basically 00:06:38.26\00:06:39.59 of what Canvasback is doing is free. 00:06:39.63\00:06:41.50 Correct. 00:06:41.53\00:06:42.86 But I understand that all of it, 00:06:42.90\00:06:45.37 if you took a doctor back in the United States 00:06:45.40\00:06:47.54 and did some of these procedures, 00:06:47.57\00:06:48.90 it could be $10,000, 00:06:48.94\00:06:50.71 $12,000 by the time in hospital 00:06:50.74\00:06:53.27 and that's just some... 00:06:53.31\00:06:54.64 Yes, I mean, average out of pocket costs 00:06:54.68\00:06:56.51 for cataract surgery 00:06:56.54\00:06:58.25 without post-op 00:06:58.28\00:07:00.28 is upwards of $7, 000 per patient 00:07:00.32\00:07:03.55 for just a standard lens. 00:07:03.59\00:07:05.69 And so that's significant to be able to provide. 00:07:05.72\00:07:10.29 And when we provide that to the people here, 00:07:10.33\00:07:12.76 it comes back to the community, 00:07:12.79\00:07:14.13 you have someone who has been able 00:07:14.16\00:07:15.50 to be a contributing member of the community 00:07:15.53\00:07:18.10 who's able to do those things 00:07:18.13\00:07:19.47 and work and be able to help care 00:07:19.50\00:07:21.84 for potentially grandchildren so their children can work. 00:07:21.87\00:07:24.54 There's a whole bigger picture that is part of that process. 00:07:24.57\00:07:29.44 So it's nice to see that. 00:07:29.48\00:07:31.48 I heard one story. 00:07:31.51\00:07:33.92 I think it was a previous clinic 00:07:33.95\00:07:35.78 not long ago with a fellow came in. 00:07:35.82\00:07:37.69 He said, "I can't fish anymore. 00:07:37.72\00:07:39.42 I can't do anything for myself anymore. 00:07:39.45\00:07:41.32 I can't go swimming." 00:07:41.36\00:07:42.69 This happened to be an ear, he had an ear situation. 00:07:42.72\00:07:46.39 Doctors took care of him, 00:07:46.43\00:07:48.66 and he just, he was so overjoyed, 00:07:48.70\00:07:50.33 said, "I can fish again, 00:07:50.37\00:07:51.93 I can swim, I can stand out in the rain." 00:07:51.97\00:07:54.24 He said, "It's like stand out in the rain." 00:07:54.27\00:07:56.34 We never think of something like that. 00:07:56.37\00:07:57.71 But these people, 00:07:57.74\00:07:59.07 there's so many ways 00:07:59.11\00:08:00.44 that Canvasback does impact their life. 00:08:00.48\00:08:01.81 It's huge. 00:08:01.84\00:08:03.18 And many patients are hand motion in both eyes. 00:08:03.21\00:08:04.98 So they're walking around the world 00:08:05.01\00:08:06.35 literally watching shadows. 00:08:06.38\00:08:08.45 And they have to have help, 00:08:08.48\00:08:10.35 they cannot go to the store themselves. 00:08:10.39\00:08:12.12 They can't see what they're purchasing, 00:08:12.15\00:08:13.56 they can't get their own food, 00:08:13.59\00:08:14.92 they can't prep their own meals. 00:08:14.96\00:08:16.29 There's a lot that comes with your vision 00:08:16.32\00:08:17.83 that we take for granted 00:08:17.86\00:08:19.73 without looking at situations like these. 00:08:19.76\00:08:21.70 And I think that's the biggest part. 00:08:21.73\00:08:24.03 So now it frees up not only them 00:08:24.07\00:08:25.90 but a family member, 00:08:25.93\00:08:27.27 at least one family member too, be more productive and learn. 00:08:27.30\00:08:30.91 Well, you're going to do this again? 00:08:30.94\00:08:33.27 Absolutely. 00:08:33.31\00:08:34.64 Why? 00:08:34.68\00:08:36.01 I think being able to help people in this way 00:08:36.04\00:08:40.15 is something that you just, 00:08:40.18\00:08:42.15 you have to experience to understand it. 00:08:42.18\00:08:44.99 And the amount of personal fulfillment 00:08:45.02\00:08:47.86 I get from volunteering 00:08:47.89\00:08:49.22 is something that I can't get doing anything else. 00:08:49.26\00:08:53.43 So, and I do, 00:08:53.46\00:08:54.90 I love my job just as much as I love volunteering, 00:08:54.93\00:08:57.70 because I'm fortunate enough to get paid 00:08:57.73\00:09:00.24 to do something I love. 00:09:00.27\00:09:01.94 But giving back is a really important thing. 00:09:01.97\00:09:04.47 We talked a moment ago 00:09:04.51\00:09:05.84 about the ROI receiving on investment, 00:09:05.87\00:09:08.58 the investment by the donors. 00:09:08.61\00:09:11.98 It's multiplied, right, as we talked about. 00:09:12.01\00:09:14.88 If you wouldn't mind, 00:09:14.92\00:09:16.25 talk with our donors for a moment 00:09:16.28\00:09:17.62 or someone who may be considering 00:09:17.65\00:09:19.32 giving to Canvasback, 00:09:19.35\00:09:20.69 why should they do it? 00:09:20.72\00:09:22.36 I think that when you invest in a person, 00:09:22.39\00:09:25.39 the investment you get back 00:09:25.43\00:09:27.56 in the form of a community is priceless. 00:09:27.60\00:09:31.03 There's no dollar amount you can put on that. 00:09:31.07\00:09:33.47 And if something as simple as a $10 donation, 00:09:33.50\00:09:36.07 I mean, that's two cups of coffee for us. 00:09:36.10\00:09:38.94 But you can provide someone 00:09:38.97\00:09:40.41 the ability to have an entire life of freedom. 00:09:40.44\00:09:43.98 Again, 00:09:44.01\00:09:45.35 that's a pretty big return on investment. 00:09:45.38\00:09:47.58 So Jacque's program is amazing. 00:09:47.62\00:09:50.39 Canvasback has been amazing so... 00:09:50.42\00:09:52.65 I know you've got to go, 00:09:52.69\00:09:54.02 you've got a stack of patients and you've got to finish lunch. 00:09:54.06\00:09:56.73 Stack of charts. 00:09:56.76\00:09:58.09 But tell me, is there any last thing 00:09:58.13\00:09:59.53 you'd like to share? 00:09:59.56\00:10:01.43 I think that this is my first overseas volunteer program. 00:10:01.46\00:10:05.67 Hopefully not my last, 00:10:05.70\00:10:07.30 I would definitely participate again. 00:10:07.34\00:10:09.64 It's well run. 00:10:09.67\00:10:11.01 It's well received. 00:10:11.04\00:10:12.47 And it's well tuned. 00:10:12.51\00:10:14.61 And I think that it's a, it's a very important, 00:10:14.64\00:10:17.81 impactful program that's much needed. 00:10:17.85\00:10:21.48 Mara, thank you so much for joining us. 00:10:21.52\00:10:22.98 I know you've busy schedule, and you got to go. 00:10:23.02\00:10:24.35 But thanks again. 00:10:24.39\00:10:25.72 Yes, thank you. 00:10:25.75\00:10:27.09 All right. 00:10:27.12\00:10:28.46 The Super Teams are making an impact 00:10:33.70\00:10:35.43 on hearts and lives, 00:10:35.46\00:10:36.80 a miracle at a time, but there's more, 00:10:36.83\00:10:38.43 so stay tuned. 00:10:38.47\00:10:39.80 According to the World Health Organization, 00:10:42.87\00:10:45.37 depression is the leading cause of worldwide disability 00:10:45.41\00:10:49.24 that happens to a lot of people. 00:10:49.28\00:10:51.58 Are you depressed? 00:13:01.08\00:13:03.68 It forms a beautiful pearl. 00:13:03.71\00:13:05.85 Today we're going to talk about some pearls, 00:13:05.88\00:13:08.05 the irritation in people's lives 00:13:08.08\00:13:09.85 but you're going to find out 00:13:09.88\00:13:11.22 some amazing beautiful things that happen 00:13:11.25\00:13:13.52 because of the irritation. 00:13:13.56\00:13:15.06 Giant clam, boy, is it ugly on the outside, 00:13:18.26\00:13:22.43 no beauty. 00:13:22.46\00:13:24.30 But I think you know something else, 00:13:24.33\00:13:26.97 this clam gets a single grain of sand inside 00:13:27.00\00:13:30.24 and forms eventually from that 00:13:30.27\00:13:33.61 single grain of sand a beautiful pearl. 00:13:33.64\00:13:35.24 A beautiful pearl inside this. 00:13:35.28\00:13:37.55 Now come with me, I want to show you something. 00:13:37.58\00:13:39.21 I really wanted to show you 00:13:42.72\00:13:44.05 ones that are cleaned up a little bit. 00:13:44.09\00:13:45.42 I actually didn't want to grab the others 00:13:45.45\00:13:46.82 because they've been out on the beach a little bit 00:13:46.86\00:13:48.72 and they're really smelly. 00:13:48.76\00:13:50.09 But I think about it, 00:13:50.13\00:13:51.46 you know, Jesus came down to planet earth, 00:13:51.49\00:13:53.60 this really smelly planet, 00:13:53.63\00:13:56.00 the only place in the cosmos 00:13:56.03\00:13:58.93 where sin and suffering has occurred. 00:13:58.97\00:14:01.77 It actually started way back in heaven, 00:14:01.80\00:14:04.01 God created, well, 00:14:04.04\00:14:06.81 an entire, an entire angelic host. 00:14:06.84\00:14:09.61 And amongst that host was a being Lucifer, 00:14:09.64\00:14:12.81 the light bearer. 00:14:12.85\00:14:14.58 Lucifer stood right next to God. 00:14:14.62\00:14:17.39 In this situation, he began looking in himself. 00:14:17.42\00:14:20.22 I don't know how it occurred, 00:14:20.26\00:14:21.59 but God had created every single being 00:14:21.62\00:14:24.26 with absolute complete and free will. 00:14:24.29\00:14:26.76 That meant he could deviate from God's desired path 00:14:26.80\00:14:29.96 and God's original plan. 00:14:30.00\00:14:32.07 Well, he certainly did deviate, 00:14:32.10\00:14:33.50 because he ended up creating war in all of heaven. 00:14:33.54\00:14:36.64 He fought with his angels against God 00:14:36.67\00:14:38.71 and the angels that stayed with God. 00:14:38.74\00:14:41.58 Now, not all of them 00:14:41.61\00:14:43.01 really even understood what was going on. 00:14:43.04\00:14:45.21 They had never experienced anything like this. 00:14:45.25\00:14:47.48 They'd never experienced sin. 00:14:47.52\00:14:49.38 But here in this situation, 00:14:49.42\00:14:50.82 there's actually a war that breaks up 00:14:50.85\00:14:52.89 whether it was an actual war, or a war of ideas. 00:14:52.92\00:14:56.96 We really won't know until we get there to ask God. 00:14:56.99\00:15:00.13 But the end result is, 00:15:00.16\00:15:01.50 He cast the devil now down here to planet earth. 00:15:01.53\00:15:05.30 He had just created Adam and Eve. 00:15:05.33\00:15:08.70 What a beautiful couple? What a beautiful scene? 00:15:08.74\00:15:11.04 He'd set everything to be absolutely perfect 00:15:11.07\00:15:13.68 and beautiful for them in this gorgeous garden, 00:15:13.71\00:15:16.85 that they might take care of this garden, 00:15:16.88\00:15:18.75 that they might flourish and enjoy everything forever. 00:15:18.78\00:15:22.85 But God says there is one 00:15:22.88\00:15:24.59 that's going to try and tempt you. 00:15:24.62\00:15:26.59 And I've only allowed him to come to this one area, 00:15:26.62\00:15:29.42 this one tree, 00:15:29.46\00:15:30.79 the tree of knowledge of good and evil, 00:15:30.83\00:15:32.63 don't go around it, don't go near it. 00:15:32.66\00:15:35.26 But one day, Eve is wandering around, 00:15:35.30\00:15:38.20 and she's taking care of the garden, 00:15:38.23\00:15:39.57 she wanders away from Adam side. 00:15:39.60\00:15:42.30 And lo and behold, she sees this beautiful tree. 00:15:42.34\00:15:46.04 And in that tree is a serpent 00:15:46.07\00:15:48.34 kind of speaks in a human voice. 00:15:48.38\00:15:50.15 A human voice says eat. 00:15:50.18\00:15:52.31 "What you're doing Eve, darling. 00:15:52.35\00:15:54.75 Hey, check this tree out. 00:15:54.78\00:15:57.22 Why don't you look at the fruit?" 00:15:57.25\00:15:58.59 And she looks at the fruit. She beholds it. 00:15:58.62\00:16:00.46 "Beautiful, it's gorgeous." 00:16:00.49\00:16:02.16 And then, he said, "Go ahead, try it." 00:16:02.19\00:16:06.33 No, no, God says we shouldn't. 00:16:06.36\00:16:07.70 "Oh, God doesn't want you to be like God. 00:16:07.73\00:16:10.53 That's why He doesn't want you to take it 00:16:10.57\00:16:12.03 because you'll certainly be like God." 00:16:12.07\00:16:14.30 You know, just as the clouds have come over our heads, 00:16:14.34\00:16:16.74 it was a dark moment on planet earth. 00:16:16.77\00:16:18.91 So the devil in the form of a serpent 00:16:22.94\00:16:24.55 looks at her and says, 00:16:24.58\00:16:26.28 "Go ahead, try this fruit." 00:16:26.31\00:16:27.88 She said, "No, no, no, " 00:16:27.92\00:16:29.25 she said "God says we shouldn't." 00:16:29.28\00:16:30.62 "Oh, it'll make you like God. 00:16:30.65\00:16:32.55 It'll make you like God and that He doesn't want that. 00:16:32.59\00:16:35.49 Go ahead, try it." 00:16:35.52\00:16:36.96 And she finally, 00:16:36.99\00:16:38.33 you know this is the way sin is by the way. 00:16:38.36\00:16:40.30 You look at it long enough, behold it long enough, 00:16:40.33\00:16:43.57 you will desire it. 00:16:43.60\00:16:45.50 She took of that fruit. She tasted it. 00:16:45.53\00:16:47.14 She felt so exhilarated, so excited. 00:16:47.17\00:16:49.10 Well, this is wonderful. 00:16:49.14\00:16:50.47 She felt like she was ascending to another plane 00:16:50.51\00:16:53.14 just exactly as the devil said. 00:16:53.17\00:16:56.48 She gathered up the fruit, she ran to her husband. 00:16:56.51\00:16:59.45 Her husband knew immediately what she'd done. 00:16:59.48\00:17:04.65 But he decided that he loved the woman 00:17:04.69\00:17:06.79 more than he loved God. 00:17:06.82\00:17:08.76 He partook of the fruit 00:17:08.79\00:17:10.13 because he wanted to suffer the same fate. 00:17:10.16\00:17:11.49 He just knew he could not be separated 00:17:11.53\00:17:14.00 from the one he loved. 00:17:14.03\00:17:16.73 And immediately Jesus came looking for them, 00:17:16.77\00:17:18.77 the Jesus, the pearl, 00:17:18.80\00:17:20.44 the Bible says called Him the pearl of great price. 00:17:20.47\00:17:22.77 Jesus came looking for them, 00:17:22.80\00:17:24.41 "Adam, Eve, where are you?" 00:17:24.44\00:17:25.77 Now He knew where they were, but He wanted them to respond. 00:17:25.81\00:17:29.84 They hid themselves, 00:17:29.88\00:17:31.21 just think they hid themselves 00:17:31.25\00:17:32.58 from the one that created them, 00:17:32.61\00:17:33.95 the one who walked with them 00:17:33.98\00:17:35.32 in the cool of the afternoons in this beautiful garden. 00:17:35.35\00:17:39.32 And they finally came out. "Adam, what have you done?" 00:17:39.35\00:17:42.76 "It was the woman You made, God. 00:17:42.79\00:17:44.79 She's the one who did all this." 00:17:44.83\00:17:47.03 "Eve, what have you done?" 00:17:47.06\00:17:48.40 "It was the serpent You made, God, it's all Your fault." 00:17:48.43\00:17:52.00 See, that's the way it is with sin. 00:17:52.03\00:17:53.90 We create the situation where it's all God's fault. 00:17:53.94\00:17:56.87 The devil's done a very good job 00:17:56.91\00:17:58.24 here on planet earth. 00:17:58.27\00:18:00.34 But soon Jesus tells him the whole story. 00:18:00.38\00:18:03.14 And He says, "One day in the history of man, 00:18:03.18\00:18:05.61 I will come and die for you. 00:18:05.65\00:18:07.55 Because you no longer 00:18:07.58\00:18:09.32 have the power to overcome this evil, 00:18:09.35\00:18:11.92 you no longer have the power to overcome the sin." 00:18:11.95\00:18:15.09 So just as that beautiful pearl that created here, 00:18:15.12\00:18:18.83 in this ugly shell as you were, came down here to planet earth, 00:18:18.86\00:18:23.73 this sin filled earth 00:18:23.77\00:18:25.30 after thousands of years of sin. 00:18:25.33\00:18:28.04 Born in a humble, stable, born to humble parents. 00:18:28.07\00:18:31.74 He didn't come as a king. 00:18:31.77\00:18:33.11 He came as one extremely humble 00:18:33.14\00:18:35.38 as the human race would later look upon Him 00:18:35.41\00:18:38.38 and call Him 00:18:38.41\00:18:39.75 the pearl of great price. 00:18:39.78\00:18:41.12 Jesus Christ the one that walked. 00:18:41.15\00:18:43.08 We just can't say enough about Him, 00:18:43.12\00:18:44.45 The Rose of Sharon, The Bright and Morning Star. 00:18:44.49\00:18:46.69 I mean, everything you can say about Jesus is true, 00:18:46.72\00:18:49.82 it's beautiful. 00:18:49.86\00:18:51.19 Because you see He came to separate you 00:18:51.23\00:18:53.53 and separate me from sin. 00:18:53.56\00:18:56.30 He came to restore us. 00:18:56.33\00:18:57.67 Today, you're going to hear 00:18:57.70\00:18:59.03 some amazing stories of restoration, 00:18:59.07\00:19:01.57 physical restoration. 00:19:01.60\00:19:02.94 That's what Jesus also came to do 00:19:02.97\00:19:04.54 is restore us physically 00:19:04.57\00:19:05.91 because the devil tries to tear us down. 00:19:05.94\00:19:08.34 Once the physical restoration is complete, 00:19:08.38\00:19:10.68 He's ready to restore us spiritually as well. 00:19:10.71\00:19:13.68 Stay tuned for some amazing things 00:19:13.72\00:19:15.48 today that you're going to see. 00:19:15.52\00:19:16.85 Kazumi was about seven years old 00:19:29.33\00:19:31.70 when she experienced ear infections in both ears. 00:19:31.73\00:19:35.37 Her mother took her to the doctors, 00:19:35.40\00:19:37.51 but they couldn't seem to clear up the infections. 00:19:37.54\00:19:40.81 A couple of years past 00:19:40.84\00:19:42.31 and she began to lose some hearing. 00:19:42.34\00:19:44.71 Her family saved up all the money they could 00:19:44.75\00:19:47.32 and took her to another country looking for help. 00:19:47.35\00:19:50.92 But all of the doctor's attempts failed. 00:19:50.95\00:19:53.96 Two more years passed 00:19:53.99\00:19:56.32 and Kazumi had lost most of her hearing. 00:19:56.36\00:19:59.73 Her classmates tried to compensate by talking louder 00:19:59.76\00:20:02.90 or standing in front of her directly, 00:20:02.93\00:20:05.20 so she could read their lips. 00:20:05.23\00:20:07.17 Then at Canvasback ENT Super Team arrived 00:20:07.20\00:20:10.51 and did surgery on both ears. 00:20:10.54\00:20:13.01 Kazumi's hearing was restored. 00:20:13.04\00:20:15.81 For almost four decades, 00:20:15.84\00:20:17.78 Canvasback has been changing hearts and lives 00:20:17.81\00:20:21.08 one miracle at a time. 00:20:21.12\00:20:23.35 But your financial help is needed 00:20:23.39\00:20:25.59 to keep this important work going. 00:20:25.62\00:20:28.52 If you would like to volunteer or be a financial partner, 00:20:28.56\00:20:32.39 log on to canvasback.org. 00:20:32.43\00:20:35.46 As a leader in the field of health in Micronesia, 00:20:35.50\00:20:38.83 Canvasback Missions 00:20:38.87\00:20:40.40 has been helping people reverse diabetes for years. 00:20:40.44\00:20:44.21 Yes, you heard correctly, reverse diabetes. 00:20:44.24\00:20:48.24 In addition, 00:20:48.28\00:20:49.61 we are helping to reduce the incident of heart disease. 00:20:49.64\00:20:52.65 At least 34 million people in the US have diabetes. 00:20:52.68\00:20:56.79 Many have no idea they have it until it's almost too late. 00:20:56.82\00:21:00.86 Many children have diabetes. 00:21:00.89\00:21:03.19 It's time to stop it in its tracks. 00:21:03.22\00:21:05.69 What's the key?
