Shall we bow our heads for prayer? 00:01:12.47\00:01:13.70 Our Father and our God, what a privilege it is to come together 00:01:13.74\00:01:18.51 to open Your Holy Word, inspired by the Holy Spirit, 00:01:18.54\00:01:23.38 to discover what Your will is for us in these last days. 00:01:23.41\00:01:28.35 We ask that as we study the story of Enoch, 00:01:28.38\00:01:33.15 that Your Holy Spirit will be with us and teach us the 00:01:33.19\00:01:37.43 lessons which will be useful, and profitable, as we live in 00:01:37.46\00:01:42.46 these last days of human history. 00:01:42.50\00:01:45.17 We thank You, Lord, for the promise of Your presence, 00:01:45.20\00:01:48.14 and Father, we just ask, we plead, that You will be with us. 00:01:48.17\00:01:53.07 In Jesus' name, Amen. 00:01:53.11\00:01:55.71 We want to begin our study today by turning in our Bibles to 00:01:55.74\00:02:00.95 Revelation 12:17. 00:02:00.98\00:02:04.15 As we've studied before in this seminar, this verse is actually 00:02:04.19\00:02:09.26 a pickup on Genesis 3:15. 00:02:09.29\00:02:12.39 And it's actually speaking about the end time remnant of God 00:02:12.43\00:02:19.70 on planet earth; the remnant that will go through the final 00:02:19.73\00:02:23.20 tribulation, and will actually be in this world 00:02:23.24\00:02:27.88 when Jesus comes. 00:02:27.91\00:02:29.48 It says here in Revelation 12:17: 00:02:29.51\00:02:33.85 That is the devil. 00:02:35.28\00:02:36.38 The woman represents the church. 00:02:38.72\00:02:41.12 Or the remnant of her seed. 00:02:44.76\00:02:47.00 The remnant is the last portion of God's people. 00:02:47.03\00:02:51.07 And now notice that this remnant has two characteristics. 00:02:51.10\00:02:55.37 It says: 00:02:55.40\00:02:56.64 Notice that the end time remnant will keep the commandments 00:03:03.41\00:03:06.82 of God, and will have the testimony of Jesus Christ. 00:03:06.85\00:03:11.19 Now the question is, what is the testimony of Jesus Christ? 00:03:11.22\00:03:15.66 We know that the commandments of God 00:03:15.69\00:03:18.29 means the ten commandments. 00:03:18.33\00:03:20.06 But the testimony of Jesus; we need to take a look at what 00:03:20.10\00:03:23.73 the Bible has to say about that. 00:03:23.77\00:03:25.77 What is the testimony of Jesus? 00:03:25.80\00:03:27.80 Well, let's turn in our Bibles to Revelation 19:10, 00:03:27.84\00:03:32.97 Revelation 19:10. 00:03:33.01\00:03:35.98 Here we have a clear explanation as to what the testimony of 00:03:36.01\00:03:40.82 Jesus is, which the remnant will possess in the end of time. 00:03:40.85\00:03:45.45 It says there, by the way, a majestic being appears 00:03:45.49\00:03:49.29 to John, who is the writer of the book of Revelation, 00:03:49.32\00:03:52.99 and we find these words about the encounter: 00:03:53.03\00:03:55.53 And I fell at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, 00:03:55.56\00:04:01.14 That is the angel said to John, See that you do not do that. 00:04:01.17\00:04:06.07 I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren, who have the 00:04:06.11\00:04:10.98 testimony of Jesus. 00:04:11.01\00:04:12.61 What do the brethren of John have? 00:04:12.65\00:04:15.42 They have the testimony of Jesus. 00:04:15.45\00:04:18.39 And then it says, Worship God, for the testimony of Jesus 00:04:18.42\00:04:24.13 is the spirit of prophecy. 00:04:24.16\00:04:27.76 So here we have a definition of what the testimony of Jesus is. 00:04:27.76\00:04:32.20 It is the spirit of prophecy, which means that the end time 00:04:32.23\00:04:35.80 remnant is going to keep the commandments of God, 00:04:35.84\00:04:38.34 the ten commandments, and they are going to have the testimony 00:04:38.37\00:04:41.64 of Jesus, which is the gift of prophecy, 00:04:41.68\00:04:44.78 or the spirit of prophecy. 00:04:44.81\00:04:46.38 Now there's a third characteristic that this 00:04:46.41\00:04:49.45 end time remnant is going to have, and that characteristic 00:04:49.48\00:04:53.22 is found in Revelation 14:12, Revelation 14:12. 00:04:53.25\00:05:00.20 And, by the way, this verse repeats one detail which we 00:05:00.23\00:05:03.77 already read in Revelation 12: 17. 00:05:03.80\00:05:07.07 It says here, speaking about the end time remnant: 00:05:07.10\00:05:10.61 We've already seen that in 12:17. 00:05:18.81\00:05:21.32 So the end time remnant has faith; not any old kind 00:05:29.19\00:05:33.90 of faith, but the faith of Jesus, the faith that Jesus had. 00:05:33.93\00:05:37.40 And so we find three characteristics in these verses, 00:05:39.50\00:05:43.51 about the end time remnant: they keep the commandments of God, 00:05:43.54\00:05:47.04 they have the testimony of Jesus, 00:05:47.08\00:05:49.11 which is the gift of prophecy, or the spirit of prophecy; 00:05:49.14\00:05:52.25 and they also have an unbreakable faith, 00:05:52.28\00:05:56.38 the faith of Jesus. 00:05:56.42\00:05:58.79 Now in order to understand fully this end time generation, 00:05:58.82\00:06:03.69 we have to go to the time before the flood. 00:06:03.73\00:06:06.70 And I'd like to invite you to go with me to Genesis 6:5. 00:06:06.73\00:06:13.07 We're actually going to talk about one of the most 00:06:13.10\00:06:16.30 spectacular events recorded in the Old Testament. 00:06:16.34\00:06:20.21 Now allow me to give you just a little bit of a chronology 00:06:20.24\00:06:23.24 about this event. 00:06:23.28\00:06:24.98 It took place 987 years after creation. 00:06:25.01\00:06:30.85 That means that it took place 669 years before the flood. 00:06:30.89\00:06:37.03 And, actually, it would further mean that it happened 549 years 00:06:37.06\00:06:44.20 before Noah began preaching, 124 years before the flood. 00:06:44.23\00:06:50.07 Now we're going to talk about this event in our study tonight. 00:06:50.11\00:06:55.94 It's really spectacular. 00:06:55.98\00:06:58.01 And let's take a look, once again, at Genesis 6:5 and read 00:06:58.05\00:07:05.29 about the condition of the world before the flood. 00:07:05.32\00:07:07.76 It says there: 00:07:07.79\00:07:09.32 So the condition of the world before the flood was in a dire 00:07:24.24\00:07:28.88 situation. The world had become almost totally corrupted, 00:07:28.91\00:07:33.82 according to this. 00:07:33.85\00:07:35.15 Now we find in Matthew 24:37-39 that the condition of the world 00:07:35.18\00:07:41.69 before the flood is actually symbolic, or representative, 00:07:41.72\00:07:45.59 of the condition of the world before the second coming 00:07:45.63\00:07:49.33 of Christ. Notice Matthew 24: 37-39. It says: 00:07:49.36\00:07:57.37 Now did you notice here that there's a comparison between 00:08:04.28\00:08:08.08 the days of Noah, and the coming of the Son of man? 00:08:08.12\00:08:11.99 It continues saying: 00:08:12.02\00:08:13.79 Now what I want you to notice is that the world was in a 00:08:34.44\00:08:39.95 condition, in the days of Noah, similar to the condition 00:08:39.98\00:08:44.09 it will be in shortly before the second coming of Christ. 00:08:44.12\00:08:47.82 Now with this in mind, we want to study the story about a very 00:08:47.86\00:08:53.76 special hero that we find recorded in Genesis 5. 00:08:53.80\00:08:58.93 His name is Enoch. 00:08:58.97\00:09:02.10 Now before we take a look at Enoch, we need to notice some 00:09:02.14\00:09:06.54 very interesting details that we find in Genesis 5. 00:09:06.57\00:09:10.81 We're going to discover that before the flood, there were two 00:09:10.85\00:09:16.05 different types of faithful people. 00:09:16.08\00:09:19.99 Two different types of righteous people. 00:09:20.02\00:09:23.49 And you're saying, I thought there was only one kind of 00:09:23.53\00:09:26.86 righteous person. Well, in a certain sense there is, 00:09:26.90\00:09:30.27 but in the sense that we're noticing tonight, we're going 00:09:30.30\00:09:33.77 to see that there were two categories of righteous people. 00:09:33.80\00:09:37.17 The first category of righteous persons are those who died 00:09:37.21\00:09:43.58 before the coming of the flood, which represents, by the way, 00:09:43.61\00:09:47.65 the second coming of Jesus, as we read in Matthew 24. 00:09:47.68\00:09:51.42 Let's go in our Bibles to Genesis 5, and let's read 00:09:51.45\00:09:56.56 several verses in this chapter about what happened with many 00:09:56.59\00:10:01.06 of these heroes that are mentioned here, 00:10:01.10\00:10:04.43 actually the genealogy, which eventually will end up 00:10:04.47\00:10:07.34 with Jesus Christ. 00:10:07.37\00:10:08.67 We'll begin at verse 5. 00:10:08.70\00:10:10.81 We're going to jump to several verses here. It says: 00:10:10.84\00:10:13.71 Let's go to verse 8. 00:10:21.65\00:10:23.95 Verse 11: 00:10:30.26\00:10:31.83 Let's go to verse 14. 00:10:38.43\00:10:40.54 Verse 17. 00:10:46.17\00:10:47.64 Verse 20. 00:10:55.12\00:10:56.45 Verse 27. 00:11:02.16\00:11:03.86 Verse 31. 00:11:10.80\00:11:11.97 And then we jump to Genesis 9: 29. It says: 00:11:18.31\00:11:22.71 So you'll notice that before the flood, one category of the 00:11:29.68\00:11:34.59 believer was the believer that died before 00:11:34.62\00:11:38.63 the coming of the flood. 00:11:38.66\00:11:40.03 But I want you to notice that there is a second kind 00:11:40.06\00:11:44.07 of believer before the flood. 00:11:44.10\00:11:46.30 Notice Genesis 5:24. 00:11:46.33\00:11:50.31 I skipped over one individual in this genealogy of Genesis 5. 00:11:50.34\00:11:55.48 Genesis 5:24, the second category of believer. 00:11:55.51\00:12:02.45 It says here in Genesis 5:24: 00:12:02.48\00:12:05.85 Now did you notice that? 00:12:14.40\00:12:17.10 And Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him. 00:12:17.13\00:12:21.44 And somebody might say, well, when it says that God took him, 00:12:21.47\00:12:25.94 it means that he died and God took him to heaven with him, 00:12:25.97\00:12:30.21 because, you know, we speak today about when a person dies, 00:12:30.25\00:12:34.05 God took him. Now is that exactly what the Bible is trying 00:12:34.08\00:12:37.99 to teach here? Absolutely not! 00:12:38.02\00:12:40.29 You say, how we do know that? 00:12:40.32\00:12:41.62 Because there's a text in Hebrews 11:5, which explains 00:12:41.66\00:12:46.76 Genesis 5:24. Go with me to Hebrews 11:5. 00:12:46.80\00:12:52.10 Here it is explicit. It says here: 00:12:52.13\00:12:55.40 Now is that clear? 00:13:04.78\00:13:06.68 He didn't die and then was taken. 00:13:06.72\00:13:09.55 Here it says, very clearly: 00:13:09.58\00:13:12.05 And so you have two different types of believers 00:13:30.07\00:13:34.18 before the flood. 00:13:34.21\00:13:35.44 You have those who die and go to the grave before the flood, 00:13:35.48\00:13:40.18 and then you have those, represented by Enoch, 00:13:40.22\00:13:44.35 who actually is taken to heaven without seeing death. 00:13:44.39\00:13:50.06 Now, obviously, Enoch is in a special category, because he is 00:13:50.09\00:13:57.37 the lone exception in this list. 00:13:57.40\00:14:00.70 All of the rest died, but Enoch was transported to heaven 00:14:00.74\00:14:05.74 without seeing death. 00:14:05.77\00:14:07.88 What made Enoch so special? 00:14:07.91\00:14:11.88 Well, before we answer that question, allow me to tell you 00:14:11.91\00:14:15.78 that the Bible has very little to say about Enoch. 00:14:15.82\00:14:20.36 There are actually only four passages, or verses, 00:14:20.39\00:14:25.19 in scripture that mention Enoch. 00:14:25.23\00:14:27.73 Allow me to mention those for you. 00:14:27.76\00:14:29.86 The first is Genesis 5:21-24. 00:14:29.90\00:14:33.44 We just read from there. 00:14:33.47\00:14:34.87 The second place where Enoch is mentioned, is in Luke 3:37. 00:14:34.90\00:14:39.91 This is the genealogy of Jesus. 00:14:39.94\00:14:42.14 Only His name is mentioned there. 00:14:42.18\00:14:44.65 And then you have Hebrews 11:5, which is the verse that we just 00:14:44.68\00:14:49.05 read, where it says that he didn't see death, 00:14:49.08\00:14:51.05 that God actually took him. 00:14:51.09\00:14:53.29 And finally, a very significant verse is found in Jude 14, 15. 00:14:53.32\00:15:02.06 And so we have four passages that speak about Enoch: 00:15:02.10\00:15:06.20 Genesis 5:21-24, Luke 3:37, Hebrews 11:5, and Jude 14, 15. 00:15:06.23\00:15:14.61 And so you might say, how can you preach a whole sermon 00:15:14.64\00:15:17.81 on Enoch, if the Bible has so little to say about him? 00:15:17.85\00:15:22.22 Well, even though we only have four verses that mention Enoch, 00:15:22.25\00:15:26.79 those four verses are filled with information, 00:15:26.82\00:15:31.56 and with meaning. 00:15:31.59\00:15:32.76 And so we're going to take a look at the characteristics 00:15:32.79\00:15:36.97 that distinguish Enoch, in a special way, from the other 00:15:37.00\00:15:41.87 people who are mentioned as dying before the flood. 00:15:41.90\00:15:46.14 There are four specific things which are mentioned in these 00:15:46.17\00:15:51.65 verses about Enoch, who was transported to heaven 00:15:51.68\00:15:55.78 from among the living. 00:15:55.82\00:15:57.52 Those four things that are mentioned are: 00:15:57.55\00:16:00.39 1. He walked with God. 00:16:00.42\00:16:04.03 2. He pleased God. 00:16:04.06\00:16:08.26 3. He had faith in God. 00:16:08.30\00:16:13.37 4. He had the testimony of Jesus, or the gift of prophecy. 00:16:13.40\00:16:20.71 Now we get these details from the texts, from the four texts 00:16:20.74\00:16:26.08 that are mentioned in scripture. 00:16:26.11\00:16:27.72 And so we want to take a look at these characteristics. 00:16:27.75\00:16:31.35 Notice Genesis 5:24 once again. 00:16:31.39\00:16:36.62 We read this verse before to show that God took Enoch, 00:16:36.66\00:16:39.79 but now let's notice the first part of this verse. 00:16:39.83\00:16:43.30 It says, and Enoch did what? 00:16:43.33\00:16:47.40 And Enoch walked with God, and he was not for God took him. 00:16:47.44\00:16:55.54 Now I might mention a very important detail, 00:16:55.58\00:16:58.55 and that is that in Genesis 5 we are told that Enoch walked 00:16:58.58\00:17:05.42 with God, after he had Methuselah, for 300 years. 00:17:05.45\00:17:11.39 That's significant, because Enoch lived to be 365 before 00:17:11.43\00:17:16.77 he was taken to heaven by God. 00:17:16.80\00:17:18.47 It doesn't say that the first 65 years he walked with God, 00:17:18.50\00:17:22.77 although, undoubtedly, he walked with God. 00:17:22.80\00:17:24.77 But there was a special sense ion which Enoch walked with God 00:17:24.81\00:17:28.38 from the 65th year of his life, through the 365th 00:17:28.41\00:17:33.58 year of his life. 00:17:33.62\00:17:34.65 And you say, what was that? 00:17:34.68\00:17:36.89 Well, in our second text book, the book 00:17:36.92\00:17:39.59 Patriarchs and Prophets, Ellen White explains that when Enoch 00:17:39.62\00:17:45.13 had Methuselah, he understood better than ever before, 00:17:45.16\00:17:50.67 how God feels for His children, because now Enoch had a son, 00:17:50.70\00:17:57.67 and he could understand the father son relationship so much 00:17:57.71\00:18:02.14 better in the light of having a son. 00:18:02.18\00:18:05.25 He knew what it was like for God to feel 00:18:05.28\00:18:08.45 for His earthly children. 00:18:08.48\00:18:09.95 And so we're told here that in a special sense, 00:18:09.98\00:18:13.49 he walked with God after he had Methuselah. 00:18:13.52\00:18:18.33 Now notice also, Hebrews 11:5. 00:18:18.36\00:18:22.56 Not only did he walk with God, but we're told that he did 00:18:22.60\00:18:26.57 something else. Actually, it's the same thing as walking with 00:18:26.60\00:18:29.44 God, but a different expression is used. 00:18:29.47\00:18:32.07 It says in Hebrews 11:5, By faith Enoch was taken away 00:18:32.11\00:18:38.18 so that he did not see death, and was not found 00:18:38.21\00:18:42.88 because God had taken him. 00:18:42.92\00:18:45.72 And now notice this. 00:18:45.75\00:18:47.32 For before he was taken he had this testimony, 00:18:47.36\00:18:52.76 that he pleased God. 00:18:52.79\00:18:55.86 What does it mean to walk with God? 00:18:55.90\00:18:58.77 It means to what? to please God. 00:18:58.80\00:19:02.80 In other words, Enoch walked with God, Enoch pleased God, 00:19:02.84\00:19:08.01 but do you know that Enoch also had faith in God. 00:19:08.04\00:19:12.25 Notice what we find in Hebrews 11:6, Hebrews 11:6. 00:19:12.28\00:19:18.72 After saying that Enoch pleased God, notice what we 00:19:18.75\00:19:22.52 find in this verse. 00:19:22.56\00:19:23.66 So Enoch pleased God, and without faith it is impossible 00:19:39.27\00:19:44.98 to what? to please Him. 00:19:45.01\00:19:46.82 So you'll notice three characteristics so far, 00:19:46.85\00:19:50.19 and we're going to notice that they're very closely related. 00:19:50.22\00:19:52.55 First of all, he walked with God. 00:19:52.59\00:19:55.42 Secondly, he pleased God. 00:19:55.46\00:19:59.13 In the third place, he had faith, because without faith 00:19:59.16\00:20:04.27 it is impossible to please God. 00:20:04.30\00:20:06.53 Now the fourth characteristic is found in Jude, verses 14 and 15. 00:20:06.57\00:20:12.37 This is that little book right before the book of Revelation. 00:20:12.41\00:20:15.68 Jude 14 and 15. It says here about Enoch: 00:20:15.71\00:20:22.22 Now let's stop there just for a moment. 00:20:31.49\00:20:33.40 What did Enoch do? 00:20:33.43\00:20:34.56 He prophesied. Do you know who he was prophesying about? 00:20:34.60\00:20:39.13 Actually, he was prophesying about two groups. 00:20:39.17\00:20:41.80 The first group of wicked people that he was prophesying about 00:20:41.84\00:20:45.77 was the pre-flood race that we've already read about 00:20:45.81\00:20:49.48 in Genesis 6:5 that every intent of the hearts, 00:20:49.51\00:20:52.85 and their imaginations was only evil continually. 00:20:52.88\00:20:56.99 He was prophesying about them. 00:20:57.02\00:20:59.19 But he was also prophesying about a wicked generation 00:20:59.22\00:21:02.19 shortly before the second coming of Jesus, because as it was 00:21:02.22\00:21:05.93 before the flood, so also will it be at the coming 00:21:05.96\00:21:09.13 of the Son of Man. 00:21:09.16\00:21:10.07 So he's looking at both of these groups. 00:21:10.10\00:21:13.03 And so it says, Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied 00:21:13.07\00:21:18.07 about these men, also saying, Behold, the Lord comes 00:21:18.11\00:21:23.61 with ten thousand of His saints,... 00:21:23.65\00:21:26.45 To execute what? 00:21:26.48\00:21:28.98 To execute what? 00:21:31.35\00:21:34.62 Did Enoch preach the judgment? 00:21:37.06\00:21:41.70 He most certainly did. 00:21:41.73\00:21:43.90 He was a prophet that announced the judgment, and so it says, 00:21:43.93\00:21:47.10 To execute judgment on all. 00:21:47.14\00:21:49.40 Now let's stop there. 00:21:49.44\00:21:52.97 Was Enoch a prophet? Yes, he was. 00:21:53.01\00:21:58.28 Did he then have the testimony of Jesus? 00:21:58.31\00:22:01.92 Did he rebuke iniquity? 00:22:01.95\00:22:05.32 Did he announce that God was going to come in judgment? 00:22:05.35\00:22:08.46 Absolutely! And so we notice four characteristics 00:22:08.49\00:22:12.39 about Enoch: first of all he walked with God. 00:22:12.43\00:22:16.46 Secondly, he pleased God. 00:22:16.50\00:22:18.70 In the third place, he had faith, because without faith 00:22:18.73\00:22:23.77 it is impossible to please God. 00:22:23.81\00:22:25.54 And in the fourth place, he was a prophet, and so he had 00:22:25.57\00:22:29.54 the testimony of Jesus. 00:22:29.58\00:22:31.71 But now we need to take a look at what all of 00:22:31.75\00:22:35.15 these things mean. 00:22:35.18\00:22:36.22 What does it mean to walk with God? 00:22:36.25\00:22:39.15 What does it mean to please God? 00:22:39.19\00:22:41.66 What does it mean when the Bible says that Enoch had faith? 00:22:41.69\00:22:47.23 And let's understand a little bit better what the testimony 00:22:47.30\00:22:51.03 of Jesus is, what the gift of prophecy is. 00:22:51.07\00:22:53.87 And so, first of all, we want to notice what it means to 00:22:53.90\00:22:57.57 walk with God, because Enoch is a symbol of 00:22:57.61\00:23:01.58 the end time generation. 00:23:01.61\00:23:03.08 Now notice Amos 3:3, the book of Amos 3:3. 00:23:03.11\00:23:10.65 What does it mean to walk with God? It says here: 00:23:10.69\00:23:15.26 Must you be of one mind with God in order to walk with God, 00:23:23.80\00:23:29.10 according to this verse? 00:23:29.14\00:23:30.27 Can you be at odds with God, and be walking with God? 00:23:30.31\00:23:34.88 Absolutely not! Now there's a very, very interesting 00:23:34.91\00:23:39.48 characteristic about the expression, walking, 00:23:39.51\00:23:42.62 in the Old Testament, as well as in the New. 00:23:42.65\00:23:45.35 Almost every time that the expression, walk, is used 00:23:45.39\00:23:52.39 in this sense of walking with God, it has to do with keeping 00:23:52.43\00:23:58.37 God's commandments. 00:23:58.40\00:24:00.64 I want to read several verses from scripture that illustrate 00:24:00.67\00:24:05.41 this point. Go with me to Deuteronomy 10:12, 13, 00:24:05.44\00:24:10.78 Deuteronomy 10:12, 13. 00:24:10.81\00:24:14.55 Walking with God is linked with keeping God's commandments. 00:24:14.58\00:24:18.79 It says there in Deuteronomy 10: 00:24:18.82\00:24:22.16 Do you notice all of the parallel expressions 00:24:53.76\00:24:56.59 in this verse? You have, for example, to fear the Lord 00:24:56.62\00:25:01.10 your God. To walk in all His ways. 00:25:01.13\00:25:04.97 To love Him, to serve Him with all your heart, 00:25:05.00\00:25:10.31 and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments 00:25:10.34\00:25:13.68 of the Lord. So let me ask you, what does it mean 00:25:13.71\00:25:16.78 to walk with God? 00:25:16.81\00:25:18.11 It means to fear Him. 00:25:18.15\00:25:20.12 It means to walk in His commandments. 00:25:20.15\00:25:22.95 It means to love Him. 00:25:22.98\00:25:25.19 That was true of Enoch. 00:25:25.22\00:25:27.79 That was the experience of Enoch walking with God. 00:25:27.82\00:25:31.99 Now let's notice two or three other texts. 00:25:32.03\00:25:35.30 Notice Deuteronomy 13:4, Deuteronomy 13:4. 00:25:35.33\00:25:42.20 Here God is speaking to His people, and He says: 00:25:42.24\00:25:45.57 And do what? 00:25:53.11\00:25:54.95 That's the expression we found in Revelation 12:17. 00:25:57.42\00:25:59.89 And then what does it say? 00:25:59.92\00:26:03.22 What does it mean to walk with the Lord? 00:26:11.40\00:26:13.57 It means to keep His commandments, to obey His voice, 00:26:13.60\00:26:18.21 to serve Him, and to hold fast to Him. 00:26:18.24\00:26:22.54 Would that be what Enoch did if he walked with God? 00:26:22.58\00:26:25.78 You see, you let scripture explain scripture. 00:26:25.81\00:26:28.62 When you find the expression, walk with God, you have to see 00:26:28.65\00:26:31.12 what it means to walk with God, in the light 00:26:31.15\00:26:33.52 of all of scripture. 00:26:33.56\00:26:34.62 Notice Psalm 78:10. 00:26:34.66\00:26:37.39 Here it's even more explicit, what it means to walk with God. 00:26:37.43\00:26:41.86 It says in Psalm 78:10, speaking about Israel: 00:26:41.90\00:26:45.80 What do you walk in? 00:26:56.48\00:26:58.08 You walk in God's law, according this. 00:26:58.11\00:27:01.38 Let me ask you, did Enoch walk in God's law? 00:27:01.42\00:27:05.15 Did he keep God's commandments? 00:27:05.19\00:27:07.32 Did he obey the voice of the Lord? 00:27:07.36\00:27:09.82 Yes, if you compare these scriptures with Genesis 5, 00:27:09.86\00:27:13.19 you'll notice that he did. 00:27:13.23\00:27:14.46 You see, when you only have that expression, he walked with 00:27:14.46\00:27:17.40 God, you have to go to other places in scripture that explain 00:27:17.43\00:27:20.64 what it means to walk with God. 00:27:20.67\00:27:22.74 Notice also, Psalm 119:1, Psalm 119:1. 00:27:22.77\00:27:29.71 It says here: by the way, this is David, the Psalmist, 00:27:29.74\00:27:32.85 who is writing. 00:27:32.88\00:27:33.98 Blessed are those who walk how? who walk in the law 00:27:41.16\00:27:44.96 of the Lord. Was Enoch a law keeper? 00:27:44.99\00:27:48.33 Was he obedient to God's commandments? 00:27:48.36\00:27:52.30 He most certainly was. 00:27:52.33\00:27:53.94 By the way, does this remind us of Revelation 12:17? 00:27:53.97\00:27:57.57 The people who keep the commandments of God, 00:27:57.61\00:28:00.14 in the end time generation? 00:28:00.18\00:28:02.14 Now notice 1 John 2:3-6, because somebody might say, 00:28:02.18\00:28:06.78 well, this was just Israel in the Old Testament. 00:28:06.82\00:28:08.95 So let's notice a text from the New Testament: 1 John 2:3-6. 00:28:08.98\00:28:15.19 It says here: 00:28:15.22\00:28:16.99 How do we know that we know God? If we what? 00:28:23.20\00:28:26.03 By the way, this is the same author of Revelation 12:17, 00:28:28.54\00:28:32.67 the same writer, not the same author, because God is the 00:28:32.71\00:28:35.01 author, but the same writer. 00:28:35.04\00:28:36.85 Now notice this: 00:28:36.88\00:28:38.95 Is walking with God linked here with keeping God's commandments? 00:29:08.84\00:29:14.18 It most certainly is. 00:29:14.22\00:29:15.58 So when Genesis tells us that Enoch walked with God, 00:29:15.62\00:29:20.12 it's another way of saying that Enoch obeyed God, and kept His 00:29:20.16\00:29:25.49 what? and kept His commandments. 00:29:25.53\00:29:28.26 Is that one of the characteristics of the end time 00:29:28.30\00:29:31.33 generation that will live before the second coming, 00:29:31.37\00:29:33.80 like Enoch lived before the flood? 00:29:33.84\00:29:36.10 Absolutely! But now we need to take a look at what it means to 00:29:36.14\00:29:40.31 please God. And, by the way, walk with God, and please God, 00:29:40.34\00:29:43.65 are synonymous. I don't know whether you caught that. 00:29:43.68\00:29:46.15 In Genesis we're told that Enoch walked with God. 00:29:46.18\00:29:49.55 In Hebrews we're told that before Enoch was translated 00:29:49.58\00:29:53.49 he pleased God. 00:29:53.52\00:29:54.69 So to walk with God is the same as what? It's the same as 00:29:54.72\00:29:58.89 to please God. Now what does the Bible mean when it says, 00:29:58.93\00:30:02.56 that a person pleases God? 00:30:02.60\00:30:05.67 Notice 1 John 3:22, 1 John 3:22. 00:30:05.70\00:30:12.37 It says here: 00:30:12.41\00:30:14.08 What is pleasing in the Lord's sight? 00:30:32.49\00:30:35.36 Keeping His what? His commandments. 00:30:35.40\00:30:39.10 Does that square with what it means to walk with God? 00:30:39.13\00:30:41.87 Absolutely! And so it says here, that God answers our prayers 00:30:41.90\00:30:46.98 because we keep His commandments and we do those things 00:30:47.01\00:30:50.11 that are pleasing in His sight. 00:30:50.15\00:30:52.28 By the way, this is the way Jesus lived. 00:30:52.31\00:30:54.98 Notice John 8:29, John 8:29, It says here: 00:30:55.02\00:31:02.79 Jesus is speaking: 00:31:02.82\00:31:04.86 Now why hasn't the Father left Him alone? 00:31:13.07\00:31:16.07 Is pleasing God, or rather does pleasing God, have anything to 00:31:24.45\00:31:29.65 do with obeying God, and doing what God expects us to do? 00:31:29.68\00:31:37.13 Absolutely! Jesus Himself says so. 00:31:37.16\00:31:40.50 He says, the Father has not left me alone, for I always do 00:31:40.53\00:31:45.07 those things that please Him. 00:31:45.10\00:31:47.57 By the way, the apostle Paul tells us that those who are in 00:31:47.60\00:31:51.24 the flesh cannot please God. 00:31:51.27\00:31:53.54 The expression, to live in the flesh, means that you haven't 00:31:53.58\00:31:58.15 been converted. It means that you have a fleshly existence. 00:31:58.18\00:32:01.98 You have a selfish nature that is dictating your behavior. 00:32:02.02\00:32:05.49 Let's notice Romans 8:7, 8, Romans 8:7, 8. It says here: 00:32:05.52\00:32:17.23 Is the fleshly nature in conflict with the law of God? 00:32:29.31\00:32:34.05 Absolutely! And then notice: 00:32:34.08\00:32:36.28 Are you catching the connection here between the fleshly person, 00:32:43.69\00:32:47.86 and keeping the commandments of God? 00:32:47.86\00:32:50.33 The fleshly person cannot keep the commandments of God, 00:32:50.37\00:32:53.80 which means that they cannot do what? 00:32:53.84\00:32:56.04 They cannot please God, according to this. 00:32:56.07\00:32:58.87 And, by the way, if you go to Galatians 5, you're going to 00:32:58.91\00:33:03.18 notice what the works of the flesh are. 00:33:03.21\00:33:06.78 They are actually violations of the ten commandments. 00:33:06.82\00:33:09.88 Notice the list that the apostle Paul gives, and I'm reading from 00:33:09.92\00:33:12.92 the NIV because there's some words in the New King James 00:33:12.95\00:33:16.46 that are difficult to understand. 00:33:16.49\00:33:18.46 This is the list: sexual immorality, impurity, 00:33:18.49\00:33:23.77 debauchery, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, discord, 00:33:23.80\00:33:31.87 jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissentions, factions, 00:33:31.91\00:33:40.25 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and then he says, and the like. 00:33:40.28\00:33:47.16 Those are the works of the flesh. 00:33:47.19\00:33:48.92 Let me ask you, are all of those violations of God's 00:33:48.96\00:33:52.16 ten commandments? 00:33:52.19\00:33:53.46 Those people who practice these things, are they really pleasing 00:33:53.50\00:33:57.67 God? No, because they're living according to the flesh. 00:33:57.70\00:34:00.64 And living according to the flesh brings as a result 00:34:00.67\00:34:03.97 the works of the flesh. 00:34:04.01\00:34:06.11 And so we find that Enoch walked with God. 00:34:06.14\00:34:11.18 He pleased God, which basically means that Enoch obeyed God's 00:34:11.21\00:34:16.69 commandments. It means that Enoch followed the will of God. 00:34:16.72\00:34:22.22 He feared the Lord. 00:34:22.26\00:34:23.49 He loved the Lord. 00:34:23.53\00:34:24.76 He obeyed the Lord. 00:34:24.79\00:34:26.13 He kept His commandments. 00:34:26.16\00:34:27.86 He walked with Him, in other words. 00:34:27.93\00:34:30.27 Allow me to read you a very interesting statement from our 00:34:30.30\00:34:33.40 second text book, Patriarchs and Prophets, page 85, on Enoch. 00:34:33.44\00:34:37.74 It says here: 00:34:37.77\00:34:39.97 And now notice this. 00:35:00.73\00:35:02.46 In other words, walking with God meant that he walked 00:35:19.61\00:35:24.12 with God in all the areas of life, 00:35:24.15\00:35:26.82 and in all of his relationships. 00:35:26.86\00:35:29.36 And, of course, when we remember that the law of God is a law of 00:35:29.39\00:35:32.29 relationships, because basically it means to love God, 00:35:32.33\00:35:35.10 and to love our neighbor, we understand that Enoch loved 00:35:35.13\00:35:38.20 God and his neighbor, and it was manifested in obedience 00:35:38.23\00:35:41.77 to the commandments of God. 00:35:41.80\00:35:43.24 Now we also have found that Enoch had faith, because without 00:35:43.27\00:35:50.31 faith it is impossible to please God. 00:35:50.35\00:35:53.05 Now what kind of faith did Enoch have? 00:35:53.08\00:35:56.32 And where was his faith focused? 00:35:56.35\00:35:58.59 It says, by faith Enoch. 00:35:58.62\00:36:00.09 Okay, that's fine, but, you know, where was his faith 00:36:00.12\00:36:03.26 focused? Well, in order to understand this we need to 00:36:03.29\00:36:06.90 understand what faith is. 00:36:06.93\00:36:09.50 Go with me to Hebrews 11:1, Hebrews 11:1. 00:36:09.53\00:36:14.67 This is the standard definition for faith. It says here: 00:36:14.70\00:36:18.37 What is faith? The substance of things that you what? 00:36:29.58\00:36:34.62 That you hope for. 00:36:34.66\00:36:36.52 The evidence of things that you have not what? seen. 00:36:36.56\00:36:41.30 So must Enoch have hoped for something 00:36:41.33\00:36:46.27 that he didn't have yet? Of course! 00:36:46.30\00:36:48.77 Must he have desired to see something that at that point he 00:36:48.80\00:36:53.78 did not see? Of course! 00:36:53.81\00:36:55.94 And the question is, where was his faith focused? 00:36:55.98\00:36:59.81 Oh, there's this beautiful statement that's found in 00:36:59.85\00:37:04.69 Patriarchs and Prophets, page 87. 00:37:04.72\00:37:06.69 I want to read it to you. 00:37:06.72\00:37:07.76 It's beautiful! It says here: 00:37:07.79\00:37:09.62 Did you notice that? 00:37:20.07\00:37:22.04 Where was his faith focused? 00:37:37.42\00:37:39.89 Was he hoping for heaven? Yes. 00:37:39.92\00:37:43.26 Could he actually see heaven with his physical eyes? No. 00:37:43.29\00:37:48.26 But did he see heaven with the eye of faith? 00:37:48.30\00:37:51.23 He most certainly did. 00:37:51.27\00:37:52.87 He longed for heaven. 00:37:52.90\00:37:54.04 She continues saying: 00:37:54.07\00:37:55.87 In other words, his faith was a hope that someday he could 00:38:12.15\00:38:17.53 live with God in heaven, which he could not see with his 00:38:17.56\00:38:22.20 physical eyes, but which he grasped by faith. 00:38:22.23\00:38:25.27 Have you ever heard the expression, he's so heavenly 00:38:25.30\00:38:29.34 minded, he's no earthly good? 00:38:29.37\00:38:31.24 You know, I like to change that around, and I like to say, 00:38:31.27\00:38:34.81 he's so earthly minded, he's no heavenly good. 00:38:34.84\00:38:37.91 And the fact is that Enoch, he was heavenly minded, 00:38:37.95\00:38:42.08 but that did not keep him from fulfilling his daily duties 00:38:42.12\00:38:45.99 of love to God, and love to his fellow human beings. 00:38:46.02\00:38:49.72 But he knew that this world was not his home. 00:38:49.76\00:38:51.93 His faith was focused on eternal realities, 00:38:51.96\00:38:55.80 not the phantoms of this world. 00:38:55.83\00:38:58.30 So we've noticed three characteristics: 00:38:58.33\00:39:01.84 1. Enoch walked with God. 00:39:01.87\00:39:05.07 That means keeping his commandments. 00:39:05.11\00:39:07.38 2. Enoch pleased God. 00:39:07.41\00:39:09.28 That means that you don't walk according to the flesh, 00:39:09.31\00:39:12.21 but according to the Spirit. 00:39:12.25\00:39:13.78 It means that you're not at enmity with the law of God, 00:39:13.82\00:39:17.05 but you're in love with the law of God. 00:39:17.09\00:39:18.79 3. Enoch had faith. 00:39:18.82\00:39:20.79 His faith was focused on heavenly realities. 00:39:20.82\00:39:24.29 Even though he was on earth, he was walking with the king 00:39:24.33\00:39:27.23 in the New Jerusalem, by faith. 00:39:27.30\00:39:29.46 By the way, are these the very three characteristics that we 00:39:29.50\00:39:33.07 started our study with? 00:39:33.10\00:39:34.27 What is the end time generation going to have? 00:39:34.30\00:39:38.17 They are going to keep what? the commandments of God. 00:39:38.21\00:39:42.98 Are they going to have the faith of Jesus? Absolutely! 00:39:43.01\00:39:47.72 Are they going to be the Enoch generation? Of course! 00:39:47.75\00:39:51.75 But there's one more characteristic, 00:39:51.79\00:39:53.52 and that is in Jude 14 and 15. 00:39:53.56\00:39:56.99 Let's read this passage again. It says here: 00:39:57.03\00:40:00.86 By the way, this is after the millennium. 00:40:12.44\00:40:15.51 I won't get into that. 00:40:15.54\00:40:16.91 The execution of the judgment against the wicked is when? 00:40:20.18\00:40:23.25 Not at the second coming, but after the millennium. 00:40:23.28\00:40:27.72 If I could just make a parenthesis there. 00:40:36.33\00:40:38.90 Is there going to be a huge panorama above the Holy City 00:40:38.93\00:40:41.97 where the wicked are going to be convicted 00:40:42.00\00:40:44.31 of their unrighteousness? 00:40:44.34\00:40:46.04 Yes, you see, usually we apply this to the second coming 00:40:46.07\00:40:49.48 of Christ, but technically in context, it's applying to events 00:40:49.51\00:40:54.02 after the millennium. 00:40:54.05\00:40:55.35 And so verse 15 says: 00:40:55.38\00:40:56.89 Did Enoch warn the world of a coming judgment, 00:41:12.60\00:41:16.94 and the need that people had of committing their lives 00:41:16.97\00:41:20.51 to the Lord? Absolutely! 00:41:20.54\00:41:22.51 Would you expect that in the end time the Enoch generation 00:41:22.54\00:41:27.48 would also have in their midst a prophet who would announce 00:41:27.52\00:41:31.45 the judgment, and the need to prepare for that judgment, 00:41:31.49\00:41:35.56 so they were on the right side? Of course! 00:41:35.59\00:41:38.39 Now allow me to read you some interesting statements about 00:41:38.43\00:41:41.86 this aspect of Enoch. 00:41:41.90\00:41:44.57 Patriarchs and Prophets, page 85. 00:41:44.60\00:41:47.17 I just love this chapter about Enoch. 00:41:47.20\00:41:49.67 There's so much wonderful light in it about Enoch. 00:41:49.70\00:41:53.27 It says here, Through, now notice this: 00:41:53.31\00:41:56.75 Through, now notice this: 00:41:56.78\00:41:57.88 He did it through the Holy what? 00:42:12.26\00:42:13.96 Through the Holy angels. 00:42:14.00\00:42:15.90 And now notice this: 00:42:15.93\00:42:17.57 What did Enoch have according to this? 00:42:33.85\00:42:37.09 By the what? By the Spirit of Prophecy. 00:42:37.12\00:42:40.76 Is that the identical expression that we found about the end time 00:42:40.79\00:42:45.09 remnant in Revelation 12:17, and Revelation 19:10? Absolutely! 00:42:45.13\00:42:52.50 By the way, was Enoch a fearless rebuker of sin? 00:42:52.53\00:42:58.24 He most certainly was. 00:42:58.27\00:42:59.81 Allow me to read you this statement: 00:42:59.84\00:43:01.64 Patriarchs and Prophets, page 86. 00:43:01.68\00:43:03.68 See, today we live in a world of political correctness, 00:43:03.71\00:43:06.41 where nobody wants to call sin by its right name, 00:43:06.45\00:43:09.45 but Enoch did not get caught up in that game. 00:43:09.48\00:43:13.66 Enoch told things in love like they were. 00:43:13.69\00:43:17.53 And he rebuked sin, and he called sinners to allow 00:43:17.56\00:43:21.56 the Holy Spirit to change their lives, so they would be found on 00:43:21.60\00:43:25.57 the right side in the coming judgment. 00:43:25.60\00:43:28.17 We find this statement: 00:43:28.20\00:43:29.77 What was it? It was the Spirit... 00:43:59.90\00:44:04.84 In this way Enoch was similar to Noah, who also condemned the 00:44:33.54\00:44:38.61 world, as it says in the book of Hebrews, and he became the heir 00:44:38.64\00:44:43.68 of the righteousness that is by faith. 00:44:43.71\00:44:46.61 One further statement from Patriarchs and Prophets, 00:44:46.65\00:44:49.62 page 87, talks about the holiness of Enoch. It says: 00:44:49.65\00:44:54.09 What was he seeking? 00:45:05.07\00:45:06.27 Purity of soul that he might be what? in harmony with heaven. 00:45:06.30\00:45:11.51 Wow! Do you know that the same author of 00:45:50.01\00:45:55.88 Patriarchs and Prophets, Ellen White, says this in the journal, 00:45:55.92\00:46:00.66 Signs of the Times, April 8, 1899. Notice: 00:46:00.69\00:46:07.10 That was the experience of Enoch. 00:46:17.11\00:46:19.27 He became totally disconnected in his affections, 00:46:19.31\00:46:23.81 and in his mind, with this world. 00:46:23.85\00:46:26.41 He loved God so much. 00:46:26.45\00:46:28.58 He wanted to please God so much. 00:46:28.62\00:46:30.95 He wanted to keep God's commandments so much. 00:46:30.99\00:46:33.72 He had so much faith in what he could not see, 00:46:33.76\00:46:37.39 and what he hoped for, that God finally said to Enoch, 00:46:37.43\00:46:40.60 Enoch, you're not a citizen of earth anymore, 00:46:40.63\00:46:43.57 you're only a citizen of heaven. 00:46:43.60\00:46:45.03 Come up here, and we'll continue walking on the street of gold 00:46:45.07\00:46:48.87 throughout the ceaseless ages of eternity. 00:46:48.90\00:46:51.34 The Enoch generation will be just like that. 00:46:51.37\00:46:55.94 They will walk with God, they will please God, 00:46:55.98\00:47:00.48 they will have the faith of Jesus, 00:47:00.52\00:47:02.58 and they will have the testimony of Jesus, which they will 00:47:02.62\00:47:05.89 proclaim to a world that is living in rebellion. 00:47:05.92\00:47:09.99 Now do you remember that at the beginning of our study 00:47:10.03\00:47:14.20 we noticed that there were two different categories 00:47:14.20\00:47:17.97 of believers before the flood? 00:47:18.00\00:47:19.63 There were those who died, and there was the individual who was 00:47:19.67\00:47:25.47 translated to heaven from among the living. 00:47:25.51\00:47:28.61 Do you know that Enoch represents those 00:47:28.64\00:47:32.88 who in the end time will be translated to heaven 00:47:32.91\00:47:37.05 without seeing death? 00:47:37.09\00:47:38.75 You know, it kind of reminds me of that scene on the mount of 00:47:38.79\00:47:43.83 transfiguration. You've read that; where Jesus is at the top 00:47:43.86\00:47:49.06 of this high mountain, and suddenly down from heaven 00:47:49.10\00:47:53.10 come two individuals: Moses and Elijah. 00:47:53.13\00:47:57.81 Let's pick up the story as it's found in the gospel of 00:47:57.84\00:48:01.88 Matthew 17:1-3. It says: 00:48:01.91\00:48:06.82 By the way, you can read that in Revelation 1, 00:48:22.73\00:48:24.30 the glorified Christ; His face shines as the sun. 00:48:24.33\00:48:27.77 Jesus, here, was glorified in a preliminary way. And so it says: 00:48:27.80\00:48:33.81 Now why Moses and Elijah? 00:48:47.39\00:48:49.66 Well, if you go to the Old Testament you'll notice that 00:48:49.69\00:48:53.26 Moses, at the end of his life, because of his sin, died, 00:48:53.29\00:48:59.37 and he was resurrected, and he was taken to heaven. 00:48:59.40\00:49:04.01 You can find that by carefully reading Deuteronomy 34:5, 6, 00:49:04.04\00:49:08.84 and also Jude 9, where it says that there was a battle 00:49:08.88\00:49:12.11 over the body of Moses, because Michael the archangel had come 00:49:12.15\00:49:15.38 to resurrect Moses. 00:49:15.42\00:49:17.32 And so you have Moses, who died, resurrected, and ascended to 00:49:17.35\00:49:21.42 heaven. But then you have that other individual, Elijah, 00:49:21.46\00:49:24.79 where we're told in 2 Kings 2 that Elijah, a chariot of fire 00:49:24.83\00:49:30.67 came down and it picked up Elijah, and it took him 00:49:30.70\00:49:34.40 to heaven without experiencing death. 00:49:34.44\00:49:36.97 In these two individuals you have represented the two groups 00:49:37.01\00:49:40.88 of people that will be in this world, of the righteous people 00:49:40.91\00:49:43.88 that will be in this world when Jesus comes. 00:49:43.91\00:49:44.98 You have those who died in Christ, and will resurrect, 00:49:46.15\00:49:49.85 and you have those who are alive and remain. 00:49:49.88\00:49:53.12 In fact, let's notice what the apostle Paul has to say about 00:49:53.15\00:49:56.46 this: 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18. 00:49:56.49\00:50:05.63 It says here: 00:50:05.67\00:50:06.77 By the way, that Lord Himself, is the same Lord that was 00:50:11.54\00:50:14.84 transfigured on the mount of transfiguration. 00:50:14.88\00:50:16.98 Ah, what's the name of that archangel? Michael. 00:50:22.22\00:50:27.12 The same one who fought over the body of Moses. And so it says: 00:50:27.16\00:50:30.99 There you have represented, by those who died 00:50:38.80\00:50:42.67 before the flood, and you have those represented by Moses. 00:50:42.70\00:50:47.08 And then notice verse 17: 00:50:47.11\00:50:49.04 Those are represented by whom? 00:50:51.41\00:50:54.68 By Enoch and who else? and Elijah. 00:50:54.72\00:50:57.99 Is there going to be an Enoch generation at the end of time 00:51:08.96\00:51:13.90 who will bear the same characteristics as the original 00:51:13.94\00:51:17.27 Enoch before the flood? Absolutely! 00:51:17.31\00:51:19.84 In fact, allow me to read you a statement from 00:51:19.87\00:51:22.28 Patriarchs and Prophets, pages 88 and 89, corroborating what 00:51:22.31\00:51:26.41 we just studied from scripture. 00:51:26.45\00:51:28.05 This is a very significant statement. 00:51:28.08\00:51:30.69 Notice what it says: 00:51:30.72\00:51:31.95 That is Enoch. 00:51:35.56\00:51:36.73 Did you catch that? 00:51:50.51\00:51:51.71 The state of holiness which must be attained by those who 00:51:51.74\00:51:56.38 shall be redeemed from the earth. 00:51:56.41\00:51:57.55 By the way, do you know that there's only one type of 00:51:57.58\00:52:00.12 person who's going to be alive when Jesus comes? 00:52:00.15\00:52:02.18 the 144,000, and they will have gained a total victory over sin. 00:52:02.22\00:52:09.36 Now notice what this continues saying: 00:52:09.39\00:52:11.63 Then...(at the second coming, shortly before 00:52:11.66\00:52:14.83 the second coming). 00:52:14.83\00:52:15.93 Is there going to be a whole generation like Enoch 00:52:59.41\00:53:02.78 who are going to warn the world through the gift of prophecy, 00:53:02.81\00:53:08.18 who are going to obey God, manifest His pure character, 00:53:08.22\00:53:11.82 not live according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit? 00:53:11.85\00:53:14.69 Absolutely! She continues saying: 00:53:14.72\00:53:17.03 This is the generation that Jesus is waiting for 00:53:32.41\00:53:36.38 with a longing desire. 00:53:36.41\00:53:39.05 Now you say, how in the world do we ever reach this state? 00:53:39.08\00:53:43.39 Well, it's actually not as complicated as many people 00:53:43.42\00:53:46.76 think. You see, the way that we reach this state is by that 00:53:46.79\00:53:51.56 which we listen to and watch. 00:53:51.59\00:53:53.43 You know, if our eyes are focused on earthly things 00:53:53.46\00:53:58.23 we will be earthly minded. 00:53:58.27\00:54:00.70 If our eyes are focused on heavenly things 00:54:00.74\00:54:04.61 we will be heavenly minded. 00:54:04.64\00:54:06.61 We all know that little song, Turn your eyes upon Jesus, 00:54:06.64\00:54:11.85 Look full in His wonderful face. 00:54:11.88\00:54:14.18 And what will be the consequence? 00:54:14.22\00:54:16.15 And the things of earth will grow what? will grow strangely 00:54:16.18\00:54:21.42 dim in the light of His glory and grace. 00:54:21.46\00:54:24.99 Notice 2 Corinthians 3:18, 2 Corinthians 3:18. 00:54:25.03\00:54:31.13 Here it's speaking about the secret. 00:54:31.17\00:54:33.20 It's such a simple secret, but we find so difficult to follow 00:54:33.23\00:54:37.87 the council of God. It says here: 00:54:37.91\00:54:40.48 What do we behold? the glory of the Lord. 00:54:50.22\00:54:52.29 Do you know what the glory of the Lord is? 00:54:52.32\00:54:53.92 The glory of the Lord is His character. 00:54:53.96\00:54:57.73 It's His character. 00:54:57.76\00:54:59.69 You can read that in Exodus when Moses went to the top 00:54:59.73\00:55:03.53 of the mount: Exodus 32. 00:55:03.57\00:55:05.47 By the way, is the glory of God contagious? 00:55:05.50\00:55:09.90 You know, when Moses went up there and spent forty days 00:55:09.94\00:55:14.58 with the Lord, he came down from the mountain, and what was 00:55:14.61\00:55:17.18 happening with his face? 00:55:17.21\00:55:18.25 His face was shining, or glowing, because he had 00:55:18.28\00:55:21.58 been with the Lord. 00:55:21.62\00:55:22.82 If we want our faces to shine, and to glow, what do we have 00:55:22.85\00:55:26.69 to do? We have to spend time with the Lord because His 00:55:26.72\00:55:32.13 glory is contagious. 00:55:32.16\00:55:34.00 Now notice: but we all with unveiled face, beholding as in a 00:55:34.03\00:55:39.17 mirror the glory of the Lord, are being... what? transformed. 00:55:39.20\00:55:44.07 That's the word metamorphous in Greek. 00:55:44.11\00:55:46.34 It's a total and radical change. 00:55:46.37\00:55:48.48 We are being transformed into the same image, 00:55:48.51\00:55:53.15 from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. 00:55:53.18\00:55:58.85 We are what we watch and what we hear. 00:55:58.89\00:56:03.36 If what we watch and hear is spiritually in tune with God, 00:56:03.39\00:56:09.46 we will reveal the character of God. 00:56:09.50\00:56:11.57 If what we watch and hear is focused upon the things 00:56:11.60\00:56:15.87 of this world, we will be worldly minded; 00:56:15.90\00:56:19.21 we will be carnally minded. 00:56:19.24\00:56:20.78 It is a psychological principle of life. 00:56:20.81\00:56:23.51 We are composed of what we eat physically, 00:56:23.55\00:56:26.21 and we are composed of what we eat spiritually, 00:56:26.25\00:56:29.18 through our eyes, and through our ears. 00:56:29.22\00:56:32.25 And Enoch had his focus in the right place. 00:56:32.29\00:56:36.46 His focus was on heaven. 00:56:36.49\00:56:39.26 Once again I read that statement that I read before from 00:56:39.29\00:56:43.87 Signs of the Times. 00:56:43.90\00:56:45.57 You know, do you long for heaven? 00:56:45.60\00:56:47.34 Do you long for Jesus to come? 00:56:47.37\00:56:49.47 There's nothing in this world that is worth hanging onto, 00:56:49.50\00:56:53.51 folks. It's all going to burn when Jesus comes. 00:56:53.54\00:56:56.81 I want you to notice that statement as we close. 00:56:56.85\00:56:59.88 Just one view, just a glimpse. 00:57:06.02\00:57:08.52
