Shall we bow our heads for prayer? 00:01:12.57\00:01:13.71 Our Father and our God, what a privilege it is to come together 00:01:13.74\00:01:18.63 to open Your Holy Word, inspired by the Holy Spirit, 00:01:18.66\00:01:23.50 to discover what Your will is for us in these last days. 00:01:23.53\00:01:28.44 We ask that as we study the story of Enoch, 00:01:28.47\00:01:33.25 that Your Holy Spirit will be with us and teach us the 00:01:33.28\00:01:37.53 lessons which will be useful, and profitable, as we live in 00:01:37.56\00:01:42.58 these last days of human history. 00:01:42.61\00:01:45.27 We thank You, Lord, for the promise of Your presence, 00:01:45.30\00:01:48.26 and Father, we just ask, we plead, that You will be with us. 00:01:48.29\00:01:53.18 In Jesus' name, Amen. 00:01:53.21\00:01:55.83 We want to begin our study today by turning in our Bibles to 00:01:55.86\00:02:01.04 Revelation 12:17. 00:02:01.07\00:02:04.24 As we've studied before in this seminar, this verse is actually 00:02:04.27\00:02:09.34 a pickup on Genesis 3:15. 00:02:09.37\00:02:12.49 And it's actually speaking about the end time remnant of God 00:02:12.52\00:02:19.82 on planet earth; the remnant that will go through the final 00:02:19.85\00:02:23.32 tribulation, and will actually be in this world 00:02:23.35\00:02:27.98 when Jesus comes. 00:02:28.01\00:02:29.57 It says here in Revelation 12:17: 00:02:29.60\00:02:33.89 That is the devil. 00:02:35.38\00:02:36.41 The woman represents the church. 00:02:38.81\00:02:41.14 Or the remnant of her seed. 00:02:44.84\00:02:47.07 The remnant is the last portion of God's people. 00:02:47.10\00:02:51.19 And now notice that this remnant has two characteristics. 00:02:51.22\00:02:55.48 It says: 00:02:55.51\00:02:56.67 Notice that the end time remnant will keep the commandments 00:03:03.51\00:03:06.91 of God, and will have the testimony of Jesus Christ. 00:03:06.94\00:03:11.27 Now the question is, what is the testimony of Jesus Christ? 00:03:11.30\00:03:15.76 We know that the commandments of God 00:03:15.79\00:03:18.39 means the ten commandments. 00:03:18.42\00:03:20.16 But the testimony of Jesus; we need to take a look at what 00:03:20.19\00:03:23.85 the Bible has to say about that. 00:03:23.89\00:03:25.90 What is the testimony of Jesus? 00:03:25.93\00:03:27.91 Well, let's turn in our Bibles to Revelation 19:10, 00:03:27.94\00:03:33.07 Revelation 19:10. 00:03:33.10\00:03:36.07 Here we have a clear explanation as to what the testimony of 00:03:36.10\00:03:40.92 Jesus is, which the remnant will possess in the end of time. 00:03:40.95\00:03:45.55 It says there, by the way, a majestic being appears 00:03:45.58\00:03:49.37 to John, who is the writer of the book of Revelation, 00:03:49.40\00:03:53.10 and we find these words about the encounter: 00:03:53.13\00:03:55.65 And I fell at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, 00:03:55.69\00:04:01.20 That is the angel said to John, See that you do not do that. 00:04:01.27\00:04:06.17 I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren, who have the 00:04:06.20\00:04:11.07 testimony of Jesus. 00:04:11.10\00:04:12.73 What do the brethren of John have? 00:04:12.76\00:04:15.52 They have the testimony of Jesus. 00:04:15.55\00:04:18.48 And then it says, Worship God, for the testimony of Jesus 00:04:18.51\00:04:24.21 is the spirit of prophecy. 00:04:24.24\00:04:27.84 So here we have a definition of what the testimony of Jesus is. 00:04:27.87\00:04:32.33 It is the spirit of prophecy, which means that the end time 00:04:32.36\00:04:35.91 remnant is going to keep the commandments of God, 00:04:35.94\00:04:38.44 the ten commandments, and they are going to have the testimony 00:04:38.47\00:04:41.74 of Jesus, which is the gift of prophecy, 00:04:41.77\00:04:44.90 or the spirit of prophecy. 00:04:44.93\00:04:46.50 Now there's a third characteristic that this 00:04:46.53\00:04:49.56 end time remnant is going to have, and that characteristic 00:04:49.59\00:04:53.31 is found in Revelation 14:12, Revelation 14:12. 00:04:53.34\00:05:00.29 And, by the way, this verse repeats one detail which we 00:05:00.32\00:05:03.89 already read in Revelation 12: 17. 00:05:03.92\00:05:07.17 It says here, speaking about the end time remnant: 00:05:07.20\00:05:10.65 We've already seen that in 12:17. 00:05:18.91\00:05:21.35 So the end time remnant has faith; not any old kind 00:05:29.28\00:05:33.98 of faith, but the faith of Jesus, the faith that Jesus had. 00:05:34.02\00:05:37.44 And so we find three characteristics in these verses, 00:05:39.61\00:05:43.62 about the end time remnant: they keep the commandments of God, 00:05:43.65\00:05:47.14 they have the testimony of Jesus, 00:05:47.17\00:05:49.21 which is the gift of prophecy, or the spirit of prophecy; 00:05:49.24\00:05:52.36 and they also have an unbreakable faith, 00:05:52.39\00:05:56.48 the faith of Jesus. 00:05:56.51\00:05:58.89 Now in order to understand fully this end time generation, 00:05:58.92\00:06:03.79 we have to go to the time before the flood. 00:06:03.82\00:06:06.78 And I'd like to invite you to go with me to Genesis 6:5. 00:06:06.81\00:06:13.19 We're actually going to talk about one of the most 00:06:13.22\00:06:16.41 spectacular events recorded in the Old Testament. 00:06:16.44\00:06:20.31 Now allow me to give you just a little bit of a chronology 00:06:20.34\00:06:23.35 about this event. 00:06:23.38\00:06:25.08 It took place 987 years after creation. 00:06:25.11\00:06:30.95 That means that it took place 669 years before the flood. 00:06:30.98\00:06:37.11 And, actually, it would further mean that it happened 549 years 00:06:37.14\00:06:44.33 before Noah began preaching, 124 years before the flood. 00:06:44.36\00:06:50.20 Now we're going to talk about this event in our study tonight. 00:06:50.23\00:06:56.04 It's really spectacular. 00:06:56.07\00:06:58.12 And let's take a look, once again, at Genesis 6:5 and read 00:06:58.15\00:07:05.38 about the condition of the world before the flood. 00:07:05.41\00:07:07.84 It says there: 00:07:07.87\00:07:09.36 So the condition of the world before the flood was in a dire 00:07:24.36\00:07:29.00 situation. The world had become almost totally corrupted, 00:07:29.03\00:07:33.92 according to this. 00:07:33.95\00:07:34.98 Now we find in Matthew 24:37-39 that the condition of the world 00:07:35.01\00:07:41.80 before the flood is actually symbolic, or representative, 00:07:41.83\00:07:45.69 of the condition of the world before the second coming 00:07:45.72\00:07:49.45 of Christ. Notice Matthew 24: 37-39. It says: 00:07:49.48\00:07:57.43 Now did you notice here that there's a comparison between 00:08:04.38\00:08:08.19 the days of Noah, and the coming of the Son of man? 00:08:08.22\00:08:12.10 It continues saying: 00:08:12.13\00:08:13.81 Now what I want you to notice is that the world was in a 00:08:34.56\00:08:40.05 condition, in the days of Noah, similar to the condition 00:08:40.08\00:08:44.20 it will be in shortly before the second coming of Christ. 00:08:44.23\00:08:47.92 Now with this in mind, we want to study the story about a very 00:08:47.95\00:08:53.86 special hero that we find recorded in Genesis 5. 00:08:53.89\00:08:59.04 His name is Enoch. 00:08:59.07\00:09:02.23 Now before we take a look at Enoch, we need to notice some 00:09:02.26\00:09:06.66 very interesting details that we find in Genesis 5. 00:09:06.69\00:09:10.92 We're going to discover that before the flood, there were two 00:09:10.95\00:09:16.15 different types of faithful people. 00:09:16.18\00:09:20.10 Two different types of righteous people. 00:09:20.13\00:09:23.60 And you're saying, I thought there was only one kind of 00:09:23.63\00:09:26.96 righteous person. Well, in a certain sense there is, 00:09:26.99\00:09:30.40 but in the sense that we're noticing tonight, we're going 00:09:30.43\00:09:33.88 to see that there were two categories of righteous people. 00:09:33.91\00:09:37.30 The first category of righteous persons are those who died 00:09:37.33\00:09:43.67 before the coming of the flood, which represents, by the way, 00:09:43.70\00:09:47.75 the second coming of Jesus, as we read in Matthew 24. 00:09:47.78\00:09:51.51 Let's go in our Bibles to Genesis 5, and let's read 00:09:51.54\00:09:56.66 several verses in this chapter about what happened with many 00:09:56.69\00:10:01.20 of these heroes that are mentioned here, 00:10:01.23\00:10:04.55 actually the genealogy, which eventually will end up 00:10:04.58\00:10:07.45 with Jesus Christ. 00:10:07.48\00:10:08.77 We'll begin at verse 5. 00:10:08.80\00:10:10.93 We're going to jump to several verses here. It says: 00:10:10.96\00:10:13.74 Let's go to verse 8. 00:10:21.76\00:10:23.98 Verse 11: 00:10:30.34\00:10:31.85 Let's go to verse 14. 00:10:38.54\00:10:40.57 Verse 17. 00:10:46.27\00:10:47.69 Verse 20. 00:10:55.22\00:10:56.49 Verse 27. 00:11:02.26\00:11:03.87 Verse 31. 00:11:10.92\00:11:12.03 And then we jump to Genesis 9: 29. It says: 00:11:18.41\00:11:22.74 So you'll notice that before the flood, one category of the 00:11:29.79\00:11:34.69 believer was the believer that died before 00:11:34.72\00:11:38.73 the coming of the flood. 00:11:38.76\00:11:40.12 But I want you to notice that there is a second kind 00:11:40.15\00:11:44.20 of believer before the flood. 00:11:44.23\00:11:46.42 Notice Genesis 5:24. 00:11:46.45\00:11:50.40 I skipped over one individual in this genealogy of Genesis 5. 00:11:50.44\00:11:55.60 Genesis 5:24, the second category of believer. 00:11:55.63\00:12:02.54 It says here in Genesis 5:24: 00:12:02.57\00:12:05.88 Now did you notice that? 00:12:14.51\00:12:17.23 And Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him. 00:12:17.26\00:12:21.55 And somebody might say, well, when it says that God took him, 00:12:21.58\00:12:26.04 it means that he died and God took him to heaven with him, 00:12:26.07\00:12:30.33 because, you know, we speak today about when a person dies, 00:12:30.36\00:12:34.14 God took him. Now is that exactly what the Bible is trying 00:12:34.17\00:12:38.10 to teach here? Absolutely not! 00:12:38.13\00:12:40.37 You say, how we do know that? 00:12:40.40\00:12:41.73 Because there's a text in Hebrews 11:5, which explains 00:12:41.76\00:12:46.84 Genesis 5:24. Go with me to Hebrews 11:5. 00:12:46.87\00:12:52.22 Here it is explicit. It says here: 00:12:52.25\00:12:55.44 Now is that clear? 00:13:04.88\00:13:06.80 He didn't die and then was taken. 00:13:06.83\00:13:09.66 Here it says, very clearly: 00:13:09.69\00:13:12.07 And so you have two different types of believers 00:13:30.17\00:13:34.28 before the flood. 00:13:34.31\00:13:35.44 You have those who die and go to the grave before the flood, 00:13:35.47\00:13:40.30 and then you have those, represented by Enoch, 00:13:40.33\00:13:44.44 who actually is taken to heaven without seeing death. 00:13:44.47\00:13:50.14 Now, obviously, Enoch is in a special category, because he is 00:13:50.17\00:13:57.47 the lone exception in this list. 00:13:57.50\00:14:00.82 All of the rest died, but Enoch was transported to heaven 00:14:00.85\00:14:05.84 without seeing death. 00:14:05.87\00:14:07.99 What made Enoch so special? 00:14:08.02\00:14:12.00 Well, before we answer that question, allow me to tell you 00:14:12.03\00:14:15.90 that the Bible has very little to say about Enoch. 00:14:15.93\00:14:20.45 There are actually only four passages, or verses, 00:14:20.48\00:14:25.30 in scripture that mention Enoch. 00:14:25.33\00:14:27.82 Allow me to mention those for you. 00:14:27.85\00:14:30.00 The first is Genesis 5:21-24. 00:14:30.03\00:14:33.54 We just read from there. 00:14:33.57\00:14:34.97 The second place where Enoch is mentioned, is in Luke 3:37. 00:14:35.00\00:14:40.01 This is the genealogy of Jesus. 00:14:40.04\00:14:42.24 Only His name is mentioned there. 00:14:42.27\00:14:44.75 And then you have Hebrews 11:5, which is the verse that we just 00:14:44.78\00:14:49.14 read, where it says that he didn't see death, 00:14:49.17\00:14:51.14 that God actually took him. 00:14:51.17\00:14:53.38 And finally, a very significant verse is found in Jude 14, 15. 00:14:53.41\00:15:02.17 And so we have four passages that speak about Enoch: 00:15:02.20\00:15:06.32 Genesis 5:21-24, Luke 3:37, Hebrews 11:5, and Jude 14, 15. 00:15:06.35\00:15:14.71 And so you might say, how can you preach a whole sermon 00:15:14.74\00:15:17.91 on Enoch, if the Bible has so little to say about him? 00:15:17.94\00:15:22.33 Well, even though we only have four verses that mention Enoch, 00:15:22.36\00:15:26.90 those four verses are filled with information, 00:15:26.93\00:15:31.66 and with meaning. 00:15:31.69\00:15:32.92 And so we're going to take a look at the characteristics 00:15:32.95\00:15:37.09 that distinguish Enoch, in a special way, from the other 00:15:37.12\00:15:42.00 people who are mentioned as dying before the flood. 00:15:42.03\00:15:46.26 There are four specific things which are mentioned in these 00:15:46.29\00:15:51.74 verses about Enoch, who was transported to heaven 00:15:51.77\00:15:55.90 from among the living. 00:15:55.93\00:15:57.63 Those four things that are mentioned are: 00:15:57.66\00:16:00.48 1. He walked with God. 00:16:00.51\00:16:04.11 2. He pleased God. 00:16:04.14\00:16:08.39 3. He had faith in God. 00:16:08.42\00:16:13.47 4. He had the testimony of Jesus, or the gift of prophecy. 00:16:13.50\00:16:20.83 Now we get these details from the texts, from the four texts 00:16:20.86\00:16:26.20 that are mentioned in scripture. 00:16:26.23\00:16:27.81 And so we want to take a look at these characteristics. 00:16:27.84\00:16:31.45 Notice Genesis 5:24 once again. 00:16:31.48\00:16:36.72 We read this verse before to show that God took Enoch, 00:16:36.75\00:16:39.87 but now let's notice the first part of this verse. 00:16:39.90\00:16:43.43 It says, and Enoch did what? 00:16:43.46\00:16:47.53 And Enoch walked with God, and he was not for God took him. 00:16:47.56\00:16:55.66 Now I might mention a very important detail, 00:16:55.69\00:16:58.66 and that is that in Genesis 5 we are told that Enoch walked 00:16:58.69\00:17:05.51 with God, after he had Methuselah, for 300 years. 00:17:05.54\00:17:11.47 That's significant, because Enoch lived to be 365 before 00:17:11.50\00:17:16.87 he was taken to heaven by God. 00:17:16.90\00:17:18.59 It doesn't say that the first 65 years he walked with God, 00:17:18.62\00:17:22.89 although, undoubtedly, he walked with God. 00:17:22.92\00:17:24.87 But there was a special sense ion which Enoch walked with God 00:17:24.90\00:17:28.48 from the 65th year of his life, through the 365th 00:17:28.51\00:17:33.69 year of his life. 00:17:33.72\00:17:34.75 And you say, what was that? 00:17:34.78\00:17:36.98 Well, in our second text book, the book 00:17:37.01\00:17:39.67 Patriarchs and Prophets, Ellen White explains that when Enoch 00:17:39.70\00:17:45.23 had Methuselah, he understood better than ever before, 00:17:45.26\00:17:50.77 how God feels for His children, because now Enoch had a son, 00:17:50.80\00:17:57.79 and he could understand the father son relationship so much 00:17:57.82\00:18:02.24 better in the light of having a son. 00:18:02.27\00:18:05.35 He knew what it was like for God to feel 00:18:05.38\00:18:08.54 for His earthly children. 00:18:08.57\00:18:10.05 And so we're told here that in a special sense, 00:18:10.08\00:18:13.58 he walked with God after he had Methuselah. 00:18:13.61\00:18:18.42 Now notice also, Hebrews 11:5. 00:18:18.45\00:18:22.70 Not only did he walk with God, but we're told that he did 00:18:22.73\00:18:26.69 something else. Actually, it's the same thing as walking with 00:18:26.72\00:18:29.54 God, but a different expression is used. 00:18:29.57\00:18:32.19 It says in Hebrews 11:5, By faith Enoch was taken away 00:18:32.22\00:18:38.27 so that he did not see death, and was not found 00:18:38.30\00:18:43.00 because God had taken him. 00:18:43.03\00:18:45.83 And now notice this. 00:18:45.86\00:18:47.41 For before he was taken he had this testimony, 00:18:47.44\00:18:52.86 that he pleased God. 00:18:52.89\00:18:56.00 What does it mean to walk with God? 00:18:56.03\00:18:58.87 It means to what? to please God. 00:18:58.90\00:19:02.93 In other words, Enoch walked with God, Enoch pleased God, 00:19:02.96\00:19:08.11 but do you know that Enoch also had faith in God. 00:19:08.14\00:19:12.36 Notice what we find in Hebrews 11:6, Hebrews 11:6. 00:19:12.39\00:19:18.82 After saying that Enoch pleased God, notice what we 00:19:18.85\00:19:22.62 find in this verse. 00:19:22.65\00:19:23.68 So Enoch pleased God, and without faith it is impossible 00:19:39.37\00:19:45.09 to what? to please Him. 00:19:45.12\00:19:46.92 So you'll notice three characteristics so far, 00:19:46.95\00:19:50.28 and we're going to notice that they're very closely related. 00:19:50.31\00:19:52.64 First of all, he walked with God. 00:19:52.67\00:19:55.53 Secondly, he pleased God. 00:19:55.56\00:19:59.23 In the third place, he had faith, because without faith 00:19:59.26\00:20:04.38 it is impossible to please God. 00:20:04.41\00:20:06.64 Now the fourth characteristic is found in Jude, verses 14 and 15. 00:20:06.67\00:20:12.49 This is that little book right before the book of Revelation. 00:20:12.52\00:20:15.78 Jude 14 and 15. It says here about Enoch: 00:20:15.81\00:20:22.26 Now let's stop there just for a moment. 00:20:31.57\00:20:33.47 What did Enoch do? 00:20:33.50\00:20:34.60 He prophesied. Do you know who he was prophesying about? 00:20:34.63\00:20:39.26 Actually, he was prophesying about two groups. 00:20:39.29\00:20:41.93 The first group of wicked people that he was prophesying about 00:20:41.96\00:20:45.88 was the pre-flood race that we've already read about 00:20:45.91\00:20:49.60 in Genesis 6:5 that every intent of the hearts, 00:20:49.63\00:20:52.96 and their imaginations was only evil continually. 00:20:52.99\00:20:57.09 He was prophesying about them. 00:20:57.12\00:20:59.30 But he was also prophesying about a wicked generation 00:20:59.33\00:21:02.27 shortly before the second coming of Jesus, because as it was 00:21:02.30\00:21:06.03 before the flood, so also will it be at the coming 00:21:06.06\00:21:09.24 of the Son of Man. 00:21:09.27\00:21:10.30 So he's looking at both of these groups. 00:21:10.33\00:21:13.16 And so it says, Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied 00:21:13.19\00:21:18.17 about these men, also saying, Behold, the Lord comes 00:21:18.20\00:21:23.72 with ten thousand of His saints,... 00:21:23.75\00:21:26.54 To execute what? 00:21:26.57\00:21:29.03 To execute what? 00:21:31.45\00:21:34.65 Did Enoch preach the judgment? 00:21:37.16\00:21:41.83 He most certainly did. 00:21:41.86\00:21:44.03 He was a prophet that announced the judgment, and so it says, 00:21:44.06\00:21:47.22 To execute judgment on all. 00:21:47.25\00:21:49.52 Now let's stop there. 00:21:49.55\00:21:53.07 Was Enoch a prophet? Yes, he was. 00:21:53.10\00:21:58.37 Did he then have the testimony of Jesus? 00:21:58.40\00:22:02.02 Did he rebuke iniquity? 00:22:02.05\00:22:05.41 Did he announce that God was going to come in judgment? 00:22:05.44\00:22:08.55 Absolutely! And so we notice four characteristics 00:22:08.58\00:22:12.47 about Enoch: first of all he walked with God. 00:22:12.50\00:22:16.57 Secondly, he pleased God. 00:22:16.60\00:22:18.82 In the third place, he had faith, because without faith 00:22:18.85\00:22:23.88 it is impossible to please God. 00:22:23.91\00:22:25.64 And in the fourth place, he was a prophet, and so he had 00:22:25.67\00:22:29.65 the testimony of Jesus. 00:22:29.68\00:22:31.82 But now we need to take a look at what all of 00:22:31.85\00:22:35.25 these things mean. 00:22:35.28\00:22:36.31 What does it mean to walk with God? 00:22:36.34\00:22:39.24 What does it mean to please God? 00:22:39.27\00:22:41.76 What does it mean when the Bible says that Enoch had faith? 00:22:41.79\00:22:47.35 And let's understand a little bit better what the testimony 00:22:47.38\00:22:51.16 of Jesus is, what the gift of prophecy is. 00:22:51.19\00:22:54.00 And so, first of all, we want to notice what it means to 00:22:54.03\00:22:57.70 walk with God, because Enoch is a symbol of 00:22:57.73\00:23:01.69 the end time generation. 00:23:01.72\00:23:03.19 Now notice Amos 3:3, the book of Amos 3:3. 00:23:03.22\00:23:10.75 What does it mean to walk with God? It says here: 00:23:10.78\00:23:15.28 Must you be of one mind with God in order to walk with God, 00:23:23.92\00:23:29.23 according to this verse? 00:23:29.26\00:23:30.51 Can you be at odds with God, and be walking with God? 00:23:30.54\00:23:34.97 Absolutely not! Now there's a very, very interesting 00:23:35.00\00:23:39.57 characteristic about the expression, walking, 00:23:39.60\00:23:42.73 in the Old Testament, as well as in the New. 00:23:42.76\00:23:45.44 Almost every time that the expression, walk, is used 00:23:45.47\00:23:52.47 in this sense of walking with God, it has to do with keeping 00:23:52.50\00:23:58.47 God's commandments. 00:23:58.50\00:24:00.74 I want to read several verses from scripture that illustrate 00:24:00.77\00:24:05.51 this point. Go with me to Deuteronomy 10:12, 13, 00:24:05.54\00:24:10.88 Deuteronomy 10:12, 13. 00:24:10.91\00:24:14.66 Walking with God is linked with keeping God's commandments. 00:24:14.69\00:24:18.90 It says there in Deuteronomy 10: 00:24:18.93\00:24:22.19 Do you notice all of the parallel expressions 00:24:53.85\00:24:56.67 in this verse? You have, for example, to fear the Lord 00:24:56.70\00:25:01.22 your God. To walk in all His ways. 00:25:01.25\00:25:05.07 To love Him, to serve Him with all your heart, 00:25:05.10\00:25:10.43 and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments 00:25:10.46\00:25:13.77 of the Lord. So let me ask you, what does it mean 00:25:13.80\00:25:16.89 to walk with God? 00:25:16.92\00:25:18.21 It means to fear Him. 00:25:18.24\00:25:20.23 It means to walk in His commandments. 00:25:20.26\00:25:23.04 It means to love Him. 00:25:23.07\00:25:25.27 That was true of Enoch. 00:25:25.30\00:25:27.89 That was the experience of Enoch walking with God. 00:25:27.92\00:25:32.08 Now let's notice two or three other texts. 00:25:32.11\00:25:35.43 Notice Deuteronomy 13:4, Deuteronomy 13:4. 00:25:35.46\00:25:42.33 Here God is speaking to His people, and He says: 00:25:42.36\00:25:45.62 And do what? 00:25:53.23\00:25:54.99 That's the expression we found in Revelation 12:17. 00:25:57.51\00:26:00.02 And then what does it say? 00:26:00.05\00:26:03.24 What does it mean to walk with the Lord? 00:26:11.52\00:26:13.68 It means to keep His commandments, to obey His voice, 00:26:13.71\00:26:18.33 to serve Him, and to hold fast to Him. 00:26:18.36\00:26:22.64 Would that be what Enoch did if he walked with God? 00:26:22.67\00:26:25.88 You see, you let scripture explain scripture. 00:26:25.91\00:26:28.72 When you find the expression, walk with God, you have to see 00:26:28.75\00:26:31.22 what it means to walk with God, in the light 00:26:31.25\00:26:33.61 of all of scripture. 00:26:33.64\00:26:34.73 Notice Psalm 78:10. 00:26:34.76\00:26:37.49 Here it's even more explicit, what it means to walk with God. 00:26:37.52\00:26:41.97 It says in Psalm 78:10, speaking about Israel: 00:26:42.00\00:26:45.85 What do you walk in? 00:26:56.59\00:26:58.19 You walk in God's law, according this. 00:26:58.22\00:27:01.50 Let me ask you, did Enoch walk in God's law? 00:27:01.53\00:27:05.26 Did he keep God's commandments? 00:27:05.29\00:27:07.43 Did he obey the voice of the Lord? 00:27:07.46\00:27:09.93 Yes, if you compare these scriptures with Genesis 5, 00:27:09.96\00:27:13.30 you'll notice that he did. 00:27:13.33\00:27:14.53 You see, when you only have that expression, he walked with 00:27:14.56\00:27:17.53 God, you have to go to other places in scripture that explain 00:27:17.56\00:27:20.76 what it means to walk with God. 00:27:20.79\00:27:22.85 Notice also, Psalm 119:1, Psalm 119:1. 00:27:22.88\00:27:29.82 It says here: by the way, this is David, the Psalmist, 00:27:29.85\00:27:32.96 who is writing. 00:27:32.99\00:27:34.02 Blessed are those who walk how? who walk in the law 00:27:41.24\00:27:45.05 of the Lord. Was Enoch a law keeper? 00:27:45.08\00:27:48.44 Was he obedient to God's commandments? 00:27:48.47\00:27:52.42 He most certainly was. 00:27:52.45\00:27:54.04 By the way, does this remind us of Revelation 12:17? 00:27:54.07\00:27:57.67 The people who keep the commandments of God, 00:27:57.70\00:28:00.25 in the end time generation? 00:28:00.28\00:28:02.25 Now notice 1 John 2:3-6, because somebody might say, 00:28:02.28\00:28:06.87 well, this was just Israel in the Old Testament. 00:28:06.90\00:28:09.04 So let's notice a text from the New Testament: 1 John 2:3-6. 00:28:09.07\00:28:15.29 It says here: 00:28:15.32\00:28:17.02 How do we know that we know God? If we what? 00:28:23.33\00:28:26.08 By the way, this is the same author of Revelation 12:17, 00:28:28.66\00:28:32.80 the same writer, not the same author, because God is the 00:28:32.83\00:28:35.11 author, but the same writer. 00:28:35.14\00:28:36.95 Now notice this: 00:28:36.98\00:28:38.99 Is walking with God linked here with keeping God's commandments? 00:29:08.96\00:29:14.30 It most certainly is. 00:29:14.33\00:29:15.68 So when Genesis tells us that Enoch walked with God, 00:29:15.71\00:29:20.22 it's another way of saying that Enoch obeyed God, and kept His 00:29:20.25\00:29:25.60 what? and kept His commandments. 00:29:25.63\00:29:28.40 Is that one of the characteristics of the end time 00:29:28.43\00:29:31.45 generation that will live before the second coming, 00:29:31.48\00:29:33.93 like Enoch lived before the flood? 00:29:33.96\00:29:36.23 Absolutely! But now we need to take a look at what it means to 00:29:36.26\00:29:40.41 please God. And, by the way, walk with God, and please God, 00:29:40.44\00:29:43.74 are synonymous. I don't know whether you caught that. 00:29:43.77\00:29:46.25 In Genesis we're told that Enoch walked with God. 00:29:46.28\00:29:49.65 In Hebrews we're told that before Enoch was translated 00:29:49.68\00:29:53.57 he pleased God. 00:29:53.60\00:29:54.80 So to walk with God is the same as what? It's the same as 00:29:54.83\00:29:59.00 to please God. Now what does the Bible mean when it says, 00:29:59.03\00:30:02.69 that a person pleases God? 00:30:02.72\00:30:05.80 Notice 1 John 3:22, 1 John 3:22. 00:30:05.83\00:30:12.47 It says here: 00:30:12.50\00:30:14.11 What is pleasing in the Lord's sight? 00:30:32.59\00:30:35.47 Keeping His what? His commandments. 00:30:35.50\00:30:39.23 Does that square with what it means to walk with God? 00:30:39.26\00:30:41.98 Absolutely! And so it says here, that God answers our prayers 00:30:42.01\00:30:47.08 because we keep His commandments and we do those things 00:30:47.11\00:30:50.23 that are pleasing in His sight. 00:30:50.26\00:30:52.38 By the way, this is the way Jesus lived. 00:30:52.41\00:30:55.10 Notice John 8:29, John 8:29, It says here: 00:30:55.13\00:31:02.88 Jesus is speaking: 00:31:02.91\00:31:04.89 Now why hasn't the Father left Him alone? 00:31:13.19\00:31:16.13 Is pleasing God, or rather does pleasing God, have anything to 00:31:24.56\00:31:29.76 do with obeying God, and doing what God expects us to do? 00:31:29.79\00:31:37.21 Absolutely! Jesus Himself says so. 00:31:37.24\00:31:40.59 He says, the Father has not left me alone, for I always do 00:31:40.62\00:31:45.18 those things that please Him. 00:31:45.21\00:31:47.69 By the way, the apostle Paul tells us that those who are in 00:31:47.72\00:31:51.34 the flesh cannot please God. 00:31:51.37\00:31:53.64 The expression, to live in the flesh, means that you haven't 00:31:53.67\00:31:58.24 been converted. It means that you have a fleshly existence. 00:31:58.27\00:32:02.10 You have a selfish nature that is dictating your behavior. 00:32:02.13\00:32:05.60 Let's notice Romans 8:7, 8, Romans 8:7, 8. It says here: 00:32:05.63\00:32:17.27 Is the fleshly nature in conflict with the law of God? 00:32:29.41\00:32:34.15 Absolutely! And then notice: 00:32:34.18\00:32:36.30 Are you catching the connection here between the fleshly person, 00:32:43.77\00:32:47.95 and keeping the commandments of God? 00:32:47.98\00:32:50.46 The fleshly person cannot keep the commandments of God, 00:32:50.49\00:32:53.93 which means that they cannot do what? 00:32:53.96\00:32:56.14 They cannot please God, according to this. 00:32:56.17\00:32:58.99 And, by the way, if you go to Galatians 5, you're going to 00:32:59.02\00:33:03.27 notice what the works of the flesh are. 00:33:03.30\00:33:06.88 They are actually violations of the ten commandments. 00:33:06.91\00:33:10.00 Notice the list that the apostle Paul gives, and I'm reading from 00:33:10.03\00:33:13.02 the NIV because there's some words in the New King James 00:33:13.05\00:33:16.55 that are difficult to understand. 00:33:16.58\00:33:18.54 This is the list: sexual immorality, impurity, 00:33:18.57\00:33:23.88 debauchery, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, discord, 00:33:23.91\00:33:32.00 jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissentions, factions, 00:33:32.03\00:33:40.34 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and then he says, and the like. 00:33:40.37\00:33:47.24 Those are the works of the flesh. 00:33:47.27\00:33:49.02 Let me ask you, are all of those violations of God's 00:33:49.05\00:33:52.25 ten commandments? 00:33:52.28\00:33:53.31 Those people who practice these things, are they really pleasing 00:33:53.34\00:33:57.78 God? No, because they're living according to the flesh. 00:33:57.81\00:34:00.74 And living according to the flesh brings as a result 00:34:00.77\00:34:04.09 the works of the flesh. 00:34:04.12\00:34:06.21 And so we find that Enoch walked with God. 00:34:06.24\00:34:11.29 He pleased God, which basically means that Enoch obeyed God's 00:34:11.32\00:34:16.79 commandments. It means that Enoch followed the will of God. 00:34:16.82\00:34:22.33 He feared the Lord. 00:34:22.36\00:34:23.59 He loved the Lord. 00:34:23.62\00:34:24.85 He obeyed the Lord. 00:34:24.88\00:34:26.23 He kept His commandments. 00:34:26.26\00:34:27.98 He walked with Him, in other words. 00:34:28.01\00:34:30.38 Allow me to read you a very interesting statement from our 00:34:30.41\00:34:33.53 second text book, Patriarchs and Prophets, page 85, on Enoch. 00:34:33.56\00:34:37.84 It says here: 00:34:37.87\00:34:40.00 And now notice this. 00:35:00.81\00:35:02.53 In other words, walking with God meant that he walked 00:35:19.72\00:35:24.21 with God in all the areas of life, 00:35:24.24\00:35:26.93 and in all of his relationships. 00:35:26.96\00:35:29.44 And, of course, when we remember that the law of God is a law of 00:35:29.47\00:35:32.40 relationships, because basically it means to love God, 00:35:32.43\00:35:35.22 and to love our neighbor, we understand that Enoch loved 00:35:35.25\00:35:38.33 God and his neighbor, and it was manifested in obedience 00:35:38.36\00:35:41.90 to the commandments of God. 00:35:41.93\00:35:43.35 Now we also have found that Enoch had faith, because without 00:35:43.38\00:35:50.41 faith it is impossible to please God. 00:35:50.44\00:35:53.14 Now what kind of faith did Enoch have? 00:35:53.17\00:35:56.41 And where was his faith focused? 00:35:56.44\00:35:58.69 It says, by faith Enoch. 00:35:58.72\00:36:00.18 Okay, that's fine, but, you know, where was his faith 00:36:00.21\00:36:03.34 focused? Well, in order to understand this we need to 00:36:03.37\00:36:07.00 understand what faith is. 00:36:07.03\00:36:09.62 Go with me to Hebrews 11:1, Hebrews 11:1. 00:36:09.65\00:36:14.80 This is the standard definition for faith. It says here: 00:36:14.83\00:36:18.42 What is faith? The substance of things that you what? 00:36:29.69\00:36:34.73 That you hope for. 00:36:34.76\00:36:36.62 The evidence of things that you have not what? seen. 00:36:36.65\00:36:41.43 So must Enoch have hoped for something 00:36:41.46\00:36:46.37 that he didn't have yet? Of course! 00:36:46.40\00:36:48.89 Must he have desired to see something that at that point he 00:36:48.92\00:36:53.89 did not see? Of course! 00:36:53.92\00:36:56.05 And the question is, where was his faith focused? 00:36:56.08\00:36:59.93 Oh, there's this beautiful statement that's found in 00:36:59.96\00:37:04.80 Patriarchs and Prophets, page 87. 00:37:04.83\00:37:06.78 I want to read it to you. 00:37:06.81\00:37:07.84 It's beautiful! It says here: 00:37:07.87\00:37:09.65 Did you notice that? 00:37:20.18\00:37:22.08 Where was his faith focused? 00:37:37.53\00:37:39.97 Was he hoping for heaven? Yes. 00:37:40.00\00:37:43.34 Could he actually see heaven with his physical eyes? No. 00:37:43.37\00:37:48.37 But did he see heaven with the eye of faith? 00:37:48.40\00:37:51.34 He most certainly did. 00:37:51.37\00:37:52.96 He longed for heaven. 00:37:53.00\00:37:54.15 She continues saying: 00:37:54.18\00:37:55.90 In other words, his faith was a hope that someday he could 00:38:12.24\00:38:17.61 live with God in heaven, which he could not see with his 00:38:17.64\00:38:22.31 physical eyes, but which he grasped by faith. 00:38:22.34\00:38:25.37 Have you ever heard the expression, he's so heavenly 00:38:25.40\00:38:29.44 minded, he's no earthly good? 00:38:29.47\00:38:31.36 You know, I like to change that around, and I like to say, 00:38:31.39\00:38:34.93 he's so earthly minded, he's no heavenly good. 00:38:34.96\00:38:38.01 And the fact is that Enoch, he was heavenly minded, 00:38:38.04\00:38:42.17 but that did not keep him from fulfilling his daily duties 00:38:42.20\00:38:46.10 of love to God, and love to his fellow human beings. 00:38:46.13\00:38:49.81 But he knew that this world was not his home. 00:38:49.84\00:38:52.01 His faith was focused on eternal realities, 00:38:52.04\00:38:55.92 not the phantoms of this world. 00:38:55.95\00:38:58.41 So we've noticed three characteristics: 00:38:58.44\00:39:01.96 1. Enoch walked with God. 00:39:01.99\00:39:05.18 That means keeping his commandments. 00:39:05.21\00:39:07.48 2. Enoch pleased God. 00:39:07.51\00:39:09.38 That means that you don't walk according to the flesh, 00:39:09.41\00:39:12.31 but according to the Spirit. 00:39:12.34\00:39:13.89 It means that you're not at enmity with the law of God, 00:39:13.92\00:39:17.15 but you're in love with the law of God. 00:39:17.18\00:39:18.89 3. Enoch had faith. 00:39:18.92\00:39:20.89 His faith was focused on heavenly realities. 00:39:20.92\00:39:24.40 Even though he was on earth, he was walking with the king 00:39:24.43\00:39:27.34 in the New Jerusalem, by faith. 00:39:27.37\00:39:29.57 By the way, are these the very three characteristics that we 00:39:29.60\00:39:33.18 started our study with? 00:39:33.21\00:39:34.37 What is the end time generation going to have? 00:39:34.40\00:39:38.30 They are going to keep what? the commandments of God. 00:39:38.33\00:39:43.07 Are they going to have the faith of Jesus? Absolutely! 00:39:43.11\00:39:47.82 Are they going to be the Enoch generation? Of course! 00:39:47.85\00:39:51.84 But there's one more characteristic, 00:39:51.87\00:39:53.61 and that is in Jude 14 and 15. 00:39:53.64\00:39:57.09 Let's read this passage again. It says here: 00:39:57.12\00:40:00.88 By the way, this is after the millennium. 00:40:12.56\00:40:15.62 I won't get into that. 00:40:15.65\00:40:16.94 The execution of the judgment against the wicked is when? 00:40:20.28\00:40:23.34 Not at the second coming, but after the millennium. 00:40:23.37\00:40:27.76 If I could just make a parenthesis there. 00:40:36.45\00:40:39.01 Is there going to be a huge panorama above the Holy City 00:40:39.04\00:40:42.09 where the wicked are going to be convicted 00:40:42.12\00:40:44.42 of their unrighteousness? 00:40:44.45\00:40:46.15 Yes, you see, usually we apply this to the second coming 00:40:46.18\00:40:49.58 of Christ, but technically in context, it's applying to events 00:40:49.61\00:40:54.12 after the millennium. 00:40:54.15\00:40:55.44 And so verse 15 says: 00:40:55.47\00:40:56.93 Did Enoch warn the world of a coming judgment, 00:41:12.73\00:41:17.05 and the need that people had of committing their lives 00:41:17.08\00:41:20.62 to the Lord? Absolutely! 00:41:20.65\00:41:22.61 Would you expect that in the end time the Enoch generation 00:41:22.64\00:41:27.57 would also have in their midst a prophet who would announce 00:41:27.60\00:41:31.56 the judgment, and the need to prepare for that judgment, 00:41:31.59\00:41:35.66 so they were on the right side? Of course! 00:41:35.69\00:41:38.49 Now allow me to read you some interesting statements about 00:41:38.52\00:41:41.99 this aspect of Enoch. 00:41:42.02\00:41:44.69 Patriarchs and Prophets, page 85. 00:41:44.72\00:41:47.27 I just love this chapter about Enoch. 00:41:47.31\00:41:49.80 There's so much wonderful light in it about Enoch. 00:41:49.83\00:41:53.39 It says here, Through, now notice this: 00:41:53.42\00:41:56.84 Through, now notice this: 00:41:56.87\00:41:57.90 He did it through the Holy what? 00:42:12.36\00:42:14.06 Through the Holy angels. 00:42:14.09\00:42:16.01 And now notice this: 00:42:16.04\00:42:17.62 What did Enoch have according to this? 00:42:33.95\00:42:37.17 By the what? By the Spirit of Prophecy. 00:42:37.20\00:42:40.84 Is that the identical expression that we found about the end time 00:42:40.87\00:42:45.19 remnant in Revelation 12:17, and Revelation 19:10? Absolutely! 00:42:45.22\00:42:52.61 By the way, was Enoch a fearless rebuker of sin? 00:42:52.64\00:42:58.34 He most certainly was. 00:42:58.37\00:42:59.92 Allow me to read you this statement: 00:42:59.95\00:43:01.75 Patriarchs and Prophets, page 86. 00:43:01.78\00:43:03.78 See, today we live in a world of political correctness, 00:43:03.81\00:43:06.53 where nobody wants to call sin by its right name, 00:43:06.56\00:43:09.54 but Enoch did not get caught up in that game. 00:43:09.57\00:43:13.75 Enoch told things in love like they were. 00:43:13.78\00:43:17.62 And he rebuked sin, and he called sinners to allow 00:43:17.65\00:43:21.68 the Holy Spirit to change their lives, so they would be found on 00:43:21.71\00:43:25.68 the right side in the coming judgment. 00:43:25.71\00:43:28.30 We find this statement: 00:43:28.33\00:43:29.82 What was it? It was the Spirit... 00:44:00.05\00:44:04.87 In this way Enoch was similar to Noah, who also condemned the 00:44:33.64\00:44:38.70 world, as it says in the book of Hebrews, and he became the heir 00:44:38.74\00:44:43.77 of the righteousness that is by faith. 00:44:43.80\00:44:46.72 One further statement from Patriarchs and Prophets, 00:44:46.75\00:44:49.73 page 87, talks about the holiness of Enoch. It says: 00:44:49.76\00:44:54.10 What was he seeking? 00:45:05.17\00:45:06.52 Purity of soul that he might be what? in harmony with heaven. 00:45:06.55\00:45:11.56 Wow! Do you know that the same author of 00:45:50.12\00:45:55.97 Patriarchs and Prophets, Ellen White, says this in the journal, 00:45:56.00\00:46:00.76 Signs of the Times, April 8, 1899. Notice: 00:46:00.79\00:46:07.12 That was the experience of Enoch. 00:46:17.21\00:46:19.39 He became totally disconnected in his affections, 00:46:19.42\00:46:23.91 and in his mind, with this world. 00:46:23.94\00:46:26.51 He loved God so much. 00:46:26.54\00:46:28.70 He wanted to please God so much. 00:46:28.73\00:46:31.06 He wanted to keep God's commandments so much. 00:46:31.09\00:46:33.81 He had so much faith in what he could not see, 00:46:33.84\00:46:37.48 and what he hoped for, that God finally said to Enoch, 00:46:37.52\00:46:40.70 Enoch, you're not a citizen of earth anymore, 00:46:40.73\00:46:43.67 you're only a citizen of heaven. 00:46:43.70\00:46:45.16 Come up here, and we'll continue walking on the street of gold 00:46:45.19\00:46:48.97 throughout the ceaseless ages of eternity. 00:46:49.00\00:46:51.44 The Enoch generation will be just like that. 00:46:51.47\00:46:56.04 They will walk with God, they will please God, 00:46:56.07\00:47:00.59 they will have the faith of Jesus, 00:47:00.62\00:47:02.70 and they will have the testimony of Jesus, which they will 00:47:02.73\00:47:06.00 proclaim to a world that is living in rebellion. 00:47:06.03\00:47:10.07 Now do you remember that at the beginning of our study 00:47:10.10\00:47:14.28 we noticed that there were two different categories 00:47:14.31\00:47:18.10 of believers before the flood? 00:47:18.13\00:47:19.76 There were those who died, and there was the individual who was 00:47:19.79\00:47:25.59 translated to heaven from among the living. 00:47:25.62\00:47:28.71 Do you know that Enoch represents those 00:47:28.74\00:47:33.00 who in the end time will be translated to heaven 00:47:33.03\00:47:37.15 without seeing death? 00:47:37.18\00:47:38.85 You know, it kind of reminds me of that scene on the mount of 00:47:38.88\00:47:43.91 transfiguration. You've read that; where Jesus is at the top 00:47:43.94\00:47:49.19 of this high mountain, and suddenly down from heaven 00:47:49.22\00:47:53.23 come two individuals: Moses and Elijah. 00:47:53.26\00:47:57.93 Let's pick up the story as it's found in the gospel of 00:47:57.96\00:48:02.00 Matthew 17:1-3. It says: 00:48:02.03\00:48:06.84 By the way, you can read that in Revelation 1, 00:48:22.85\00:48:24.43 the glorified Christ; His face shines as the sun. 00:48:24.46\00:48:27.87 Jesus, here, was glorified in a preliminary way. And so it says: 00:48:27.90\00:48:33.84 Now why Moses and Elijah? 00:48:47.49\00:48:49.76 Well, if you go to the Old Testament you'll notice that 00:48:49.79\00:48:53.34 Moses, at the end of his life, because of his sin, died, 00:48:53.37\00:48:59.49 and he was resurrected, and he was taken to heaven. 00:48:59.52\00:49:04.11 You can find that by carefully reading Deuteronomy 34:5, 6, 00:49:04.14\00:49:08.94 and also Jude 9, where it says that there was a battle 00:49:08.97\00:49:12.21 over the body of Moses, because Michael the archangel had come 00:49:12.24\00:49:15.50 to resurrect Moses. 00:49:15.53\00:49:17.43 And so you have Moses, who died, resurrected, and ascended to 00:49:17.46\00:49:21.52 heaven. But then you have that other individual, Elijah, 00:49:21.55\00:49:24.90 where we're told in 2 Kings 2 that Elijah, a chariot of fire 00:49:24.93\00:49:30.80 came down and it picked up Elijah, and it took him 00:49:30.83\00:49:34.53 to heaven without experiencing death. 00:49:34.56\00:49:37.10 In these two individuals you have represented the two groups 00:49:37.13\00:49:40.99 of people that will be in this world, of the righteous people 00:49:41.02\00:49:43.97 that will be in this world when Jesus comes. 00:49:44.00\00:49:45.03 You have those who died in Christ, and will resurrect, 00:49:46.29\00:49:49.95 and you have those who are alive and remain. 00:49:49.98\00:49:53.21 In fact, let's notice what the apostle Paul has to say about 00:49:53.24\00:49:56.54 this: 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18. 00:49:56.57\00:50:05.74 It says here: 00:50:05.77\00:50:06.80 By the way, that Lord Himself, is the same Lord that was 00:50:11.66\00:50:14.94 transfigured on the mount of transfiguration. 00:50:14.97\00:50:17.03 Ah, what's the name of that archangel? Michael. 00:50:22.33\00:50:27.23 The same one who fought over the body of Moses. And so it says: 00:50:27.26\00:50:31.02 There you have represented, by those who died 00:50:38.90\00:50:42.80 before the flood, and you have those represented by Moses. 00:50:42.83\00:50:47.18 And then notice verse 17: 00:50:47.21\00:50:49.07 Those are represented by whom? 00:50:51.50\00:50:54.79 By Enoch and who else? and Elijah. 00:50:54.82\00:50:58.03 Is there going to be an Enoch generation at the end of time 00:51:09.09\00:51:14.01 who will bear the same characteristics as the original 00:51:14.04\00:51:17.39 Enoch before the flood? Absolutely! 00:51:17.42\00:51:19.96 In fact, allow me to read you a statement from 00:51:19.99\00:51:22.40 Patriarchs and Prophets, pages 88 and 89, corroborating what 00:51:22.43\00:51:26.52 we just studied from scripture. 00:51:26.55\00:51:28.15 This is a very significant statement. 00:51:28.18\00:51:30.80 Notice what it says: 00:51:30.83\00:51:31.97 That is Enoch. 00:51:35.65\00:51:36.76 Did you catch that? 00:51:50.61\00:51:51.74 The state of holiness which must be attained by those who 00:51:51.77\00:51:56.50 shall be redeemed from the earth. 00:51:56.53\00:51:57.68 By the way, do you know that there's only one type of 00:51:57.71\00:52:00.23 person who's going to be alive when Jesus comes? 00:52:00.26\00:52:02.27 the 144,000, and they will have gained a total victory over sin. 00:52:02.30\00:52:09.44 Now notice what this continues saying: 00:52:09.47\00:52:11.73 Then...(at the second coming, shortly before 00:52:11.76\00:52:14.92 the second coming). 00:52:14.95\00:52:15.98 Is there going to be a whole generation like Enoch 00:52:59.50\00:53:02.87 who are going to warn the world through the gift of prophecy, 00:53:02.90\00:53:08.27 who are going to obey God, manifest His pure character, 00:53:08.30\00:53:11.91 not live according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit? 00:53:11.94\00:53:14.79 Absolutely! She continues saying: 00:53:14.82\00:53:17.05 This is the generation that Jesus is waiting for 00:53:32.50\00:53:36.41 with a longing desire. 00:53:36.51\00:53:39.16 Now you say, how in the world do we ever reach this state? 00:53:39.19\00:53:43.48 Well, it's actually not as complicated as many people 00:53:43.51\00:53:46.84 think. You see, the way that we reach this state is by that 00:53:46.87\00:53:51.64 which we listen to and watch. 00:53:51.67\00:53:53.52 You know, if our eyes are focused on earthly things 00:53:53.55\00:53:58.36 we will be earthly minded. 00:53:58.39\00:54:00.82 If our eyes are focused on heavenly things 00:54:00.85\00:54:04.72 we will be heavenly minded. 00:54:04.75\00:54:06.72 We all know that little song, Turn your eyes upon Jesus, 00:54:06.75\00:54:11.95 Look full in His wonderful face. 00:54:11.98\00:54:14.27 And what will be the consequence? 00:54:14.30\00:54:16.25 And the things of earth will grow what? will grow strangely 00:54:16.28\00:54:21.53 dim in the light of His glory and grace. 00:54:21.56\00:54:25.07 Notice 2 Corinthians 3:18, 2 Corinthians 3:18. 00:54:25.10\00:54:31.26 Here it's speaking about the secret. 00:54:31.29\00:54:33.33 It's such a simple secret, but we find so difficult to follow 00:54:33.36\00:54:37.97 the council of God. It says here: 00:54:38.00\00:54:40.51 What do we behold? the glory of the Lord. 00:54:50.30\00:54:52.39 Do you know what the glory of the Lord is? 00:54:52.42\00:54:54.03 The glory of the Lord is His character. 00:54:54.06\00:54:57.83 It's His character. 00:54:57.86\00:54:59.78 You can read that in Exodus when Moses went to the top 00:54:59.81\00:55:03.64 of the mount: Exodus 32. 00:55:03.67\00:55:05.59 By the way, is the glory of God contagious? 00:55:05.62\00:55:10.03 You know, when Moses went up there and spent forty days 00:55:10.06\00:55:14.67 with the Lord, he came down from the mountain, and what was 00:55:14.70\00:55:17.30 happening with his face? 00:55:17.33\00:55:18.36 His face was shining, or glowing, because he had 00:55:18.39\00:55:21.68 been with the Lord. 00:55:21.71\00:55:22.74 If we want our faces to shine, and to glow, what do we have 00:55:22.77\00:55:26.80 to do? We have to spend time with the Lord because His 00:55:26.83\00:55:32.22 glory is contagious. 00:55:32.25\00:55:34.11 Now notice: but we all with unveiled face, beholding as in a 00:55:34.14\00:55:39.27 mirror the glory of the Lord, are being... what? transformed. 00:55:39.30\00:55:44.19 That's the word metamorphous in Greek. 00:55:44.22\00:55:46.44 It's a total and radical change. 00:55:46.47\00:55:48.59 We are being transformed into the same image, 00:55:48.62\00:55:53.26 from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. 00:55:53.29\00:55:58.94 We are what we watch and what we hear. 00:55:58.97\00:56:03.46 If what we watch and hear is spiritually in tune with God, 00:56:03.49\00:56:09.59 we will reveal the character of God. 00:56:09.62\00:56:11.67 If what we watch and hear is focused upon the things 00:56:11.71\00:56:15.99 of this world, we will be worldly minded; 00:56:16.02\00:56:19.32 we will be carnally minded. 00:56:19.35\00:56:20.90 It is a psychological principle of life. 00:56:20.93\00:56:23.63 We are composed of what we eat physically, 00:56:23.66\00:56:26.33 and we are composed of what we eat spiritually, 00:56:26.36\00:56:29.29 through our eyes, and through our ears. 00:56:29.32\00:56:32.35 And Enoch had his focus in the right place. 00:56:32.38\00:56:36.54 His focus was on heaven. 00:56:36.57\00:56:39.34 Once again I read that statement that I read before from 00:56:39.37\00:56:43.97 Signs of the Times. 00:56:44.00\00:56:45.69 You know, do you long for heaven? 00:56:45.72\00:56:47.45 Do you long for Jesus to come? 00:56:47.48\00:56:49.58 There's nothing in this world that is worth hanging onto, 00:56:49.61\00:56:53.62 folks. It's all going to burn when Jesus comes. 00:56:53.65\00:56:56.91 I want you to notice that statement as we close. 00:56:56.94\00:56:59.91 Just one view, just a glimpse. 00:57:06.10\00:57:08.54
