Shall we pray? Father, in heaven, as we begin this very, 00:01:15.30\00:01:19.07 important study from Your Holy Word, we ask that You will give 00:01:19.11\00:01:23.24 us understanding, and not only understanding, but that You will 00:01:23.28\00:01:27.38 give us the willingness to listen to Your voice, 00:01:27.42\00:01:30.52 and to put into practice that which we learned 00:01:30.55\00:01:33.56 from Your Holy Word. 00:01:33.59\00:01:34.76 We ask for the guidance of Your Spirit, and we ask for a 00:01:34.79\00:01:39.76 submissive and tender heart. 00:01:39.79\00:01:41.13 We thank You, Lord for hearing our prayer for we ask it in 00:01:41.16\00:01:44.67 Jesus' name, Amen. 00:01:44.70\00:01:47.37 I'd like us to begin our study today at the book of 00:01:47.40\00:01:52.21 Exodus 20:8-11, Exodus 20:8-11. 00:01:52.24\00:02:00.28 This is the fourth commandment of the law of God. 00:02:00.32\00:02:04.35 The law which God wrote with His own finger 00:02:04.39\00:02:08.02 on tables of stone, with, actually, flames of fire, 00:02:08.06\00:02:13.46 according to scripture. 00:02:13.50\00:02:14.73 It says here: 00:02:14.73\00:02:16.67 In it you shall do no work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, 00:02:29.11\00:02:35.28 nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, 00:02:35.32\00:02:41.46 nor your stranger who is within your gates:... 00:02:41.49\00:02:45.33 And then we have the reason why God gave this commandment. 00:02:45.36\00:02:49.03 Notice verse 11. It says: 00:02:49.06\00:02:52.53 That is He made it holy. 00:03:11.95\00:03:14.19 Now there are two things that I want us to notice 00:03:14.22\00:03:16.79 as we begin our study. 00:03:16.83\00:03:18.06 First of all, the reason for the observance of this commandment 00:03:18.09\00:03:23.57 is creation. It says that God gave us this commandment because 00:03:23.60\00:03:28.97 in six days He made the heavens, the earth, the seas, 00:03:29.00\00:03:32.74 and all that is in them, and He rested the seventh day. 00:03:32.77\00:03:37.58 So this commandment is actually a creation ordinance. 00:03:37.61\00:03:42.38 The second thing that I want us to notice about this verse 00:03:42.42\00:03:45.89 is that it clearly tells us that God did three things 00:03:45.92\00:03:49.69 with the Sabbath. 00:03:49.72\00:03:51.06 First of all, we are told that He rested. 00:03:51.09\00:03:54.10 And I want you to remember these words: He rested. 00:03:54.13\00:03:56.50 Secondly, He blessed the Sabbath. 00:03:56.53\00:03:59.80 And in the third place, we find that God hallowed it, 00:03:59.83\00:04:04.01 or sanctified it; He made it Holy. 00:04:04.04\00:04:06.71 So three ideas: resting, blessing, and hallowing. 00:04:06.74\00:04:13.38 And it points us back to creation. 00:04:13.42\00:04:15.98 Now if this commandment points us back to creation, 00:04:16.02\00:04:19.29 where do you suppose would be a good place 00:04:19.32\00:04:20.96 to go to find out why God gave it? 00:04:20.99\00:04:22.96 I think it would be a good idea for us to go back 00:04:22.99\00:04:26.80 to the book of Genesis, because that's where 00:04:26.83\00:04:29.36 we find creation described. 00:04:29.40\00:04:31.27 This commandment sends us back to Genesis. 00:04:31.30\00:04:34.60 So let's go back to Genesis. 00:04:34.64\00:04:36.60 We have a couple of verses that I'm going to refer to. 00:04:36.64\00:04:38.87 I'm not going to read them, but I'm going to refer to them, 00:04:38.91\00:04:42.21 because we've mentioned them before. 00:04:42.24\00:04:43.81 First of all we have Genesis 1:1. 00:04:44.31\00:04:46.38 I don't think I even have to turn in my Bible to that one. 00:04:46.41\00:04:50.39 It says: In the beginning God created 00:04:50.42\00:04:53.29 the heavens and the earth. 00:04:53.32\00:04:54.69 We have three ideas: in the beginning, God, 00:04:54.72\00:04:59.06 created heaven and earth. 00:04:59.09\00:05:00.96 When we go to John 1:1-3 we find who that creator was. 00:05:01.00\00:05:07.34 It says very clearly there: In the beginning,... 00:05:07.37\00:05:12.11 See, the same expression. 00:05:12.14\00:05:13.71 In the beginning was the Word. 00:05:13.74\00:05:16.14 The Word was God. 00:05:16.18\00:05:18.18 And then verse 3 tells us that all things were made by Him; 00:05:18.21\00:05:23.59 and without Him nothing was made that was made. 00:05:23.62\00:05:28.29 So as we compare Genesis 1:1, with John 1:1-3, 00:05:28.32\00:05:32.93 there's no doubt whatsoever that the Creator of Genesis 00:05:32.96\00:05:38.10 was none other than whom? 00:05:38.13\00:05:40.24 It was none other than Jesus Christ. 00:05:40.27\00:05:42.40 So, if at the beginning Jesus created the Sabbath, 00:05:42.44\00:05:46.11 the Sabbath is the day of Jesus, because Jesus is the Creator, 00:05:46.14\00:05:52.15 according to scripture. 00:05:52.18\00:05:53.38 Now let's go back to Genesis 1 and discover what condition 00:05:53.42\00:05:59.42 this world was in before Jesus actually created it. 00:05:59.45\00:06:05.19 Genesis 1:1, 2: In the beginning God,... 00:06:05.23\00:06:12.07 That's Jesus; we've already seen from John 1. 00:06:12.10\00:06:14.57 In the beginning God created the heaven's and the earth. 00:06:14.60\00:06:17.94 And now comes the verse I want to underline. 00:06:17.97\00:06:20.14 How many problems did the earth have? two. 00:06:24.15\00:06:29.75 And the Spirit of God was hovering over 00:06:36.62\00:06:38.69 the face of the waters. 00:06:38.73\00:06:39.96 Now you notice that the planet before Jesus put it in order, 00:06:40.00\00:06:45.87 before He actually performed the work of creation of the 00:06:45.90\00:06:48.80 six days of creation week, we find that the earth was without 00:06:48.84\00:06:53.54 form and void. Now what does that mean, 00:06:53.58\00:06:55.41 without form and void? 00:06:55.44\00:06:56.41 Well, I like the translation in Spanish better, 00:06:56.44\00:07:00.22 because it's closer to what the original means. 00:07:00.25\00:07:02.58 In Spanish it says: Desordenada y Vacia. 00:07:02.62\00:07:07.42 What does Desordenada mean? 00:07:07.46\00:07:10.09 There's some of you who know Spanish. 00:07:10.13\00:07:12.13 It means in a disorderly state. 00:07:12.16\00:07:14.66 And what does Vacia mean? 00:07:14.73\00:07:17.77 It means empty. In other words, there were two problems 00:07:17.80\00:07:21.70 with the planet. It was in a disorderly state, 00:07:21.74\00:07:24.64 and it was empty. Now what the Bible means by a disorderly 00:07:24.67\00:07:29.21 state is that the planet, as it was, could not sustain life. 00:07:29.24\00:07:34.68 In other words, the planet was in a disorganized state. 00:07:36.22\00:07:39.12 It could not sustain life. 00:07:39.15\00:07:40.79 And so God, first of all, had to place the planet in order 00:07:40.82\00:07:44.96 to resolve the first problem, and then He had to fill it 00:07:44.99\00:07:49.50 to resolve the second problem. 00:07:49.53\00:07:51.97 And it's interesting, as we examine the story of creation, 00:07:52.00\00:07:55.90 that the first three days of creation week, 00:07:55.94\00:07:59.07 Jesus puts the planet in order. 00:07:59.11\00:08:02.01 And the last three days of creation week 00:08:02.04\00:08:05.31 He fills the planet with life. 00:08:05.35\00:08:08.65 Now, have you ever noticed that there was a progression 00:08:08.68\00:08:12.85 in the story of creation? 00:08:12.89\00:08:15.12 First of all God created inanimate things; 00:08:15.16\00:08:18.63 things that were not alive. 00:08:18.66\00:08:20.50 He created light, He created the firmament, 00:08:20.53\00:08:23.47 and He made the dry land. 00:08:23.50\00:08:25.23 None of those are conscious, or living. 00:08:25.27\00:08:27.74 Then he proceeded to create the sun, the moon, and the stars. 00:08:27.77\00:08:32.81 And then we find God creating vegetation, 00:08:32.84\00:08:38.75 and we find Him creating birds, and we find Him creating fish, 00:08:38.78\00:08:44.22 and we find Him creating human beings. 00:08:44.25\00:08:47.82 Now what Jesus did, was during the first three days of 00:08:47.86\00:08:51.33 creation, to prepare the planet for the living things 00:08:51.36\00:08:55.26 that He was going to fill the planet with 00:08:55.30\00:08:58.03 on the last three days. 00:08:58.07\00:08:59.57 Now let's review what Jesus did during creation week. 00:08:59.60\00:09:03.17 First Day: Jesus says, Let there be light, and there was light. 00:09:03.20\00:09:09.51 Second Day: Let there be the firmament. 00:09:09.54\00:09:14.28 And as He speaks the firmament appears. 00:09:14.32\00:09:17.65 By the way, that's the layer of oxygen. 00:09:17.69\00:09:19.52 Can any living thing survive without light? No. 00:09:19.55\00:09:23.89 Can any living thing survive without oxygen? Of course not. 00:09:23.93\00:09:27.93 And God knows that. 00:09:27.96\00:09:29.66 Some people say, Why didn't God create man first 00:09:29.70\00:09:32.10 if man was the most important thing? 00:09:32.13\00:09:33.67 Because he would have died without having any 00:09:33.70\00:09:36.07 oxygen to breathe. 00:09:36.10\00:09:37.14 See, God is pretty smart! 00:09:37.17\00:09:39.04 The first three days He organizes the planet, 00:09:39.07\00:09:42.41 so that then He can fill the planet afterwards. 00:09:42.44\00:09:45.61 And so the third day God said, Let the dry land appear, 00:09:45.65\00:09:49.38 because He knows that human beings are going to 00:09:49.42\00:09:51.29 live on the land. Hello! 00:09:51.32\00:09:52.72 He knows that the land animals are going to have 00:09:52.75\00:09:55.96 to live on the earth. 00:09:55.99\00:09:57.16 He knows that on the earth there are going to have to be 00:09:57.19\00:09:58.86 trees and plants, and so on the third day He makes the land 00:09:58.89\00:10:02.50 appear, and then He creates the vegetation. 00:10:02.53\00:10:06.37 And at the end of the third day He looks at what He has done, 00:10:06.40\00:10:11.11 and He says, It's good! 00:10:11.14\00:10:12.77 The fourth day He now fills the heavens with heavenly bodies; 00:10:12.81\00:10:17.71 with the sun, the moon, and the stars. 00:10:17.75\00:10:19.71 And at the end of the fourth day He looks upon what He has done, 00:10:19.75\00:10:22.52 and Jesus says, It's good! 00:10:22.55\00:10:24.49 Then comes the fifth day. 00:10:24.52\00:10:26.25 The waters are empty. 00:10:26.29\00:10:27.82 In the daytime the sky's are empty. 00:10:27.86\00:10:30.89 There's no songs of birds. 00:10:30.93\00:10:32.29 And so on the fifth day Jesus says, Let the waters produce 00:10:32.33\00:10:37.43 living creatures. And suddenly the waters are filled with 00:10:37.47\00:10:41.90 all sorts of living fish, and marine animals. 00:10:41.94\00:10:46.47 And then Jesus says on the fifth day, Let there be in the sky 00:10:46.51\00:10:50.01 birds. And suddenly the air is filled with birds 00:10:50.05\00:10:53.98 singing their songs. 00:10:54.02\00:10:55.98 Of course, at this point they didn't have anybody to sing 00:10:56.02\00:10:57.95 their songs to, but God is going to work on that. 00:10:57.99\00:11:00.72 Now, do you notice that at the end of the fifth day God looks 00:11:00.76\00:11:04.29 upon what He's made, Jesus does, and He sees that it is good. 00:11:04.33\00:11:09.76 Now comes the sixth day. 00:11:09.80\00:11:11.80 Do you know that on the sixth day Jesus worked more 00:11:11.83\00:11:16.10 than on any other day? 00:11:16.14\00:11:17.37 Allow me to review what happened on the sixth day of creation. 00:11:17.41\00:11:22.34 First of all, if you read the story in Genesis 2... 00:11:22.38\00:11:28.18 By the way, Genesis 2 is an amplification of certain 00:11:28.22\00:11:32.29 elements of chapter 1. 00:11:32.32\00:11:33.49 There were not two creations. 00:11:33.52\00:11:35.62 There's not the creation of Genesis 1, and the creation of 00:11:35.66\00:11:38.39 Genesis 2. Genesis 2 amplifies certain details that are not 00:11:38.43\00:11:42.63 contained in Genesis 1, particularly how the woman 00:11:42.66\00:11:47.04 who was created, how man was created, and amplifies also 00:11:47.07\00:11:52.37 several aspects about the tree of life, and the tree of the 00:11:52.41\00:11:55.14 knowledge of good and evil. 00:11:55.18\00:11:56.51 Now the first thing that Jesus made on the sixth day 00:11:56.54\00:12:00.12 were the land animals. 00:12:00.15\00:12:01.18 You can find that in Genesis 1: 25 and following. 00:12:01.22\00:12:08.29 Secondly He made man. 00:12:08.32\00:12:10.83 Have you ever noticed that when He made man He did not speak him 00:12:10.86\00:12:14.76 into existence, like He spoke everything else into existence? 00:12:14.83\00:12:17.80 He gave him the personal touch. 00:12:17.83\00:12:19.77 He took clay, He took dust, and He formed man 00:12:19.80\00:12:24.34 out of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils 00:12:24.37\00:12:27.61 the breath of life. And the Bible says that man became 00:12:27.64\00:12:30.48 a living soul. Now I'd like to ask you, Do you suppose that 00:12:30.51\00:12:34.85 when Jesus created Adam, and suddenly Adam wakes up, 00:12:34.88\00:12:40.92 if we can use the expression, and he's suddenly conscious. 00:12:40.96\00:12:45.59 He wasn't there, and now suddenly he's there. 00:12:45.63\00:12:49.30 Do you suppose that Adam was somewhat surprised? 00:12:49.33\00:12:52.17 Do you suppose Adam asked, Where did I come from? 00:12:52.20\00:12:56.20 What am I doing here? 00:12:56.24\00:12:58.71 Where am I going? He must have had questions, because he wasn't 00:12:58.74\00:13:03.98 there, and now suddenly he's there. 00:13:04.01\00:13:06.15 Adam is surprised, but God does not explain to Adam, 00:13:06.18\00:13:10.55 at that moment, the source of His existence. 00:13:10.59\00:13:14.09 In fact, we find God saying after He created man, 00:13:14.12\00:13:20.03 that there's something in creation week that is not good. 00:13:20.06\00:13:22.83 Have you noticed that at the end of every week it says, 00:13:22.86\00:13:24.93 it was good? It was good, it was good, it was good. 00:13:24.97\00:13:27.70 When it gets to the part of the sixth day where God creates 00:13:27.74\00:13:31.47 man, He looks at Adam and He says, there is something here 00:13:31.51\00:13:34.54 that is not good. It is not good that man should be alone. 00:13:34.58\00:13:38.88 I will make him a helpmeet; a helper like unto him. 00:13:38.91\00:13:44.52 And so the Bible says that Jesus told Adam to name all of the 00:13:44.55\00:13:50.69 animals that He had created. 00:13:50.73\00:13:52.19 Now that's going to take more than five minutes. 00:13:52.23\00:13:54.23 That's going to take the better part of the sixth day. 00:13:54.30\00:13:56.63 And so Adam, and there's a purpose in this. 00:13:56.67\00:13:58.77 Adam starts naming all of the animals. 00:13:58.80\00:14:00.87 And as he names the animals, he sees that each one of them 00:14:00.90\00:14:03.77 has a mate, but he doesn't have a mate. 00:14:03.81\00:14:05.57 God wanted him to feel lonely. 00:14:05.61\00:14:08.04 And now in his loneliness, he's craving for a mate 00:14:08.08\00:14:13.21 like the animals have a mate. 00:14:13.25\00:14:14.72 And the Bible says that Jesus says it's not good for Adam 00:14:14.75\00:14:19.89 to be alone. And so you have the first anesthesia of human 00:14:19.92\00:14:23.59 history, general anesthesia, and Adam is put to sleep. 00:14:23.63\00:14:28.53 And then you have the first surgery of human history. 00:14:28.56\00:14:32.10 The Bible says that God, Jesus opened up Adam's side, 00:14:32.13\00:14:37.31 and He took out one of Adam's ribs. 00:14:37.34\00:14:40.68 And out of the rib He made a woman. 00:14:40.71\00:14:44.55 And now suddenly, you can imagine Adam shaking off 00:14:44.58\00:14:48.95 the effects of the anesthesia. 00:14:48.98\00:14:50.82 And, you know, he was sleeping. 00:14:50.85\00:14:51.95 He didn't know what was going on. 00:14:53.92\00:14:54.99 And then suddenly he wakes up and here comes Jesus, 00:14:55.02\00:14:59.49 walking along with Eve next to His side, 00:14:59.53\00:15:03.57 because the Bible says that God brought Eve to Adam. 00:15:03.60\00:15:06.47 See, you don't go out hunting for a mate. 00:15:06.50\00:15:09.94 God brings the mate to you. 00:15:09.97\00:15:12.34 If you go hunting you might run into trouble. 00:15:12.37\00:15:15.14 And so God, Jesus brings Eve to Adam. 00:15:15.18\00:15:21.78 And I can just only imagine somewhat what Adam 00:15:21.82\00:15:26.79 must have said. He must have said, Wow! 00:15:26.82\00:15:30.19 Where did you come from? 00:15:30.23\00:15:32.29 You're beautiful! You're just like me! 00:15:32.33\00:15:35.73 You stand erect. And you're able to communicate; 00:15:35.76\00:15:40.37 you're able to talk. 00:15:40.40\00:15:41.44 How wonderful! Where did you come from? 00:15:41.47\00:15:43.97 By the way, have you noticed that not once in all of this 00:15:44.01\00:15:50.08 creation story did Adam or Eve see God create anything? 00:15:50.11\00:15:54.88 This is amazing! Even when He created Eve, 00:15:54.92\00:15:59.39 He put Adam to sleep. 00:15:59.42\00:16:00.69 In other words, the only proof, if you can speak of proof, 00:16:00.72\00:16:05.09 that Adam and Eve had that God was their Creator, was what? 00:16:05.13\00:16:09.03 The fact that God told them that He was their Creator. 00:16:09.06\00:16:14.07 They had no scientific proof. 00:16:14.10\00:16:16.37 They had no empirical proof. 00:16:16.40\00:16:17.91 They had no historical proof. 00:16:17.94\00:16:19.61 They had no proof whatsoever. 00:16:19.64\00:16:21.48 The only proof, or evidence, if you please, that they had 00:16:21.51\00:16:25.75 that Jesus was their Creator, is the fact that Jesus told 00:16:25.78\00:16:29.78 them that He was their Creator. 00:16:29.82\00:16:31.89 They had to accept it by faith. 00:16:31.92\00:16:34.96 They had to trust God's Word. 00:16:34.99\00:16:37.09 By the way, do you know that the whole controversy in human 00:16:37.13\00:16:40.40 history is over God's Word. 00:16:40.43\00:16:41.93 You can boil everything down to God's Word. 00:16:44.23\00:16:47.24 We studied that in our last lecture. 00:16:47.27\00:16:49.67 What the devil is trying to do in Genesis 3 is shake the trust 00:16:49.70\00:16:54.34 of Adam and Eve in God's Word. 00:16:54.38\00:16:56.18 And we notice that He uses five methods: 00:16:56.21\00:16:58.81 First method, signs and wonders. 00:16:58.85\00:17:01.05 You know, accept the sign and the wonder, instead of what I've 00:17:01.08\00:17:03.18 said. The second method is for the devil to actually change 00:17:03.22\00:17:09.56 God's Word. God has said, You can't eat of any tree 00:17:09.59\00:17:12.46 of the garden, to get Eve to exaggerate God's Word. 00:17:12.49\00:17:16.03 God told us not to touch it. 00:17:16.06\00:17:17.63 And later on we'll find that the devil will actually quote 00:17:17.67\00:17:22.24 God's Word correctly, but he'll leave certain portions out, 00:17:22.27\00:17:24.87 like in Psalm 91. See, he quoted Psalm 91 correctly, but he left 00:17:24.91\00:17:31.01 a portion of it out. 00:17:31.05\00:17:32.25 And so, if you leave a portion out, it can leave a totally 00:17:32.28\00:17:36.38 different, and wrong impression. 00:17:36.42\00:17:38.22 And then, of course, we find that the devil tried to get Adam 00:17:38.25\00:17:40.72 and Eve to follow their senses. 00:17:40.76\00:17:42.59 He tried to get Adam and Eve to follow their reasoning powers. 00:17:42.62\00:17:45.49 And he used Eve, a person, to tempt Adam. 00:17:45.53\00:17:48.76 So the devil uses five methods to try and get God's people 00:17:48.80\00:17:53.37 to disobey His clear, explicit, simple Word. 00:17:53.40\00:17:58.77 Adam and Eve were supposed to accept that Jesus was their 00:17:58.81\00:18:03.08 Creator, because Jesus told them that He was their Creator. 00:18:03.11\00:18:07.32 After all, there could have been other explanations, right? 00:18:07.35\00:18:10.62 Couldn't they have come into existence by a big bang? 00:18:10.65\00:18:14.32 I suppose so! Couldn't they have come into existence 00:18:14.36\00:18:17.19 by spontaneous generation? I suppose so. 00:18:17.23\00:18:19.86 And that's what the devil wanted Eve to believe. 00:18:19.89\00:18:22.00 He says, Oh, this story of God that He's your Creator, 00:18:22.03\00:18:25.53 and that when you eat from the tree you're going to die. 00:18:25.57\00:18:27.70 Oh, come on! You actually believe that? 00:18:27.74\00:18:30.57 You trust that? Oh, come on now! 00:18:30.61\00:18:33.48 You see, what God knows is that if you eat from that tree, 00:18:33.51\00:18:37.05 you're going to be just like Him. 00:18:37.08\00:18:38.88 You're going to be other gods around, and God doesn't want 00:18:38.91\00:18:41.52 other gods around. He's the only one who wants to be God, 00:18:41.55\00:18:44.42 and so He intimidates you into thinking that if you eat, 00:18:44.45\00:18:47.49 you're going to die. 00:18:47.52\00:18:48.72 You're not going to die, you're going to be just like Him. 00:18:48.76\00:18:50.99 And God doesn't want any rivals. 00:18:51.03\00:18:53.16 Do you see what this temptation really involves? 00:18:53.19\00:18:55.86 It's much more serious than what most people think. 00:18:55.90\00:18:59.70 Now we need to take a look at Genesis 2:2, 3, Genesis 2:2, 3. 00:18:59.73\00:19:09.51 Do you remember the three things that are mentioned in Exodus 20? 00:19:09.54\00:19:13.88 The fourth commandment of the law of God? 00:19:13.92\00:19:15.35 The three ideas? What did God do with the Sabbath? 00:19:15.38\00:19:17.82 He what? He rested. 00:19:17.85\00:19:19.69 Secondly He blessed. 00:19:19.72\00:19:21.42 And then the third, He sanctified, or made Holy. 00:19:21.46\00:19:24.39 Now is the Sabbath of Genesis the same Sabbath of Exodus 20? 00:19:24.43\00:19:28.46 Do you think so? 00:19:28.50\00:19:29.46 Notice Genesis 2:2, 3, Genesis 2:2, 3. It says: 00:19:29.50\00:19:39.74 Question: did Jesus in Genesis, do the very three things that 00:19:59.46\00:20:04.17 are mentioned in the fourth commandment of the law of God? 00:20:04.20\00:20:06.57 Did He rest? Yes. Did He bless? Yes. 00:20:06.60\00:20:10.51 Did He make holy or sanctified? Yes. 00:20:10.54\00:20:13.01 Is the fourth commandment referring to the same Sabbath 00:20:13.04\00:20:16.88 that was made at the beginning? 00:20:16.91\00:20:17.98 Absolutely. There's no doubt whatsoever. 00:20:18.01\00:20:20.78 The Sabbath is a creation ordinance. 00:20:20.82\00:20:24.45 Now let me ask you, do you think that God had to bless 00:20:24.49\00:20:27.92 the Sabbath for Himself? 00:20:27.96\00:20:29.16 Listen folks, God is the source of all blessing. 00:20:29.19\00:20:32.56 Why would He have to bless a day for Himself? 00:20:32.59\00:20:34.56 He's infusing the day with a blessing not for Himself, 00:20:34.60\00:20:39.03 but for others. Everything that God blesses is for others 00:20:39.07\00:20:42.57 in scripture. Never for Himself. 00:20:42.60\00:20:44.81 So God blessed the seventh day Sabbath. 00:20:44.84\00:20:47.64 He infused the day with life, health, and prosperity, 00:20:47.68\00:20:52.48 because anytime you find the word blessing in scripture, 00:20:52.51\00:20:54.98 it has to do with life, with abundance, with prosperity, 00:20:55.02\00:20:58.55 with that which is good. 00:20:58.59\00:21:00.59 Did God have to make a day holy for Himself? 00:21:00.62\00:21:04.76 He says, Oh, I'm going to make a holy day for Myself. 00:21:04.79\00:21:07.03 Listen, for God all days are holy, because everything 00:21:07.10\00:21:10.13 connected with God is Holy. 00:21:10.17\00:21:12.17 And so God didn't have to set apart a day, a Holy day, 00:21:12.20\00:21:15.57 for Himself. Did God really need to rest, in fact? 00:21:15.60\00:21:19.57 The fact is that we're going to notice in a few moments that 00:21:19.61\00:21:22.71 God did not have to rest. 00:21:22.74\00:21:24.18 Jesus did not have to rest. 00:21:24.21\00:21:25.75 I mean, how much rest do you need after saying, 00:21:25.78\00:21:28.38 Let there be light? 00:21:28.42\00:21:29.45 Let there be the firmament. 00:21:29.48\00:21:31.62 Let there be dry land. 00:21:31.65\00:21:33.62 Let there be trees, and plants, and grass. 00:21:33.66\00:21:38.13 Let there the be the sun, the moon, and the stars. 00:21:38.16\00:21:40.80 Let there be fish. 00:21:40.83\00:21:42.33 Let there be birds. 00:21:42.36\00:21:43.43 Let there be land animals. 00:21:43.47\00:21:44.93 You know, God at the end of creation week, He says, Wow, 00:21:44.97\00:21:46.97 I've really worked! 00:21:47.00\00:21:48.00 I need a vacation. 00:21:48.04\00:21:49.07 Is God resting because He's tired? 00:21:49.10\00:21:53.51 Is Jesus resting because He's tired? 00:21:53.54\00:21:56.58 Absolutely not! Then the question is, why is He resting? 00:21:56.61\00:22:02.68 We'll get to that in a moment, but before that allow me 00:22:02.72\00:22:05.65 to mention one other thing, which is extremely important. 00:22:05.69\00:22:08.09 Do you know that the story of creation says that Jesus 00:22:08.12\00:22:11.39 actually finished His work twice? 00:22:11.43\00:22:13.76 Now you say, how can you finish your work twice? 00:22:15.53\00:22:18.07 Well, let's notice Genesis 1:31. 00:22:18.10\00:22:21.50 There's a very interesting nuance here. 00:22:21.54\00:22:23.94 Genesis 1:31, and we'll continue reading through chapter 2. 00:22:23.97\00:22:28.78 Genesis 1:31, and we'll go on to read chapter 2. It says there: 00:22:28.81\00:22:36.58 When did He finish? 00:22:50.47\00:22:51.57 It says it was the evening and the morning of the sixth day. 00:22:54.57\00:22:57.77 Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them 00:22:57.81\00:23:01.24 were finished. He finished the sixth day, 00:23:01.28\00:23:03.78 according to this verse. 00:23:03.81\00:23:04.85 But then you read the next verse. 00:23:04.88\00:23:06.21 It appears to have a contradiction. 00:23:06.25\00:23:07.78 It says in verse 2: And on the seventh day God ended his work 00:23:08.08\00:23:13.29 which he had done;... 00:23:13.32\00:23:14.66 Now wait a minute. Did He finish on the sixth 00:23:14.69\00:23:19.49 or did He end on the seventh? 00:23:19.53\00:23:21.93 Maybe Moses forgot what he wrote in Genesis 1:31. 00:23:21.96\00:23:27.54 And he says, Oh, excuse me. 00:23:27.57\00:23:29.60 It wasn't the sixth day that He finished, it was the seventh day 00:23:29.64\00:23:32.74 that He finished. Actually, there's something else 00:23:32.77\00:23:34.78 that's going on here, and let me explain it. 00:23:34.81\00:23:36.54 I had the privilege of working for 41/2 years in New Mexico. 00:23:36.58\00:23:43.18 All of New Mexico was my territory, and West Texas. 00:23:43.22\00:23:45.75 I lived in Amarillo, Texas. 00:23:45.79\00:23:46.92 And one of the places which I really enjoyed visiting 00:23:46.96\00:23:49.96 was Taos, New Mexico. 00:23:49.99\00:23:51.53 Have any of you ever been to Taos, New Mexico? 00:23:51.56\00:23:54.03 Beautiful country up there. 00:23:54.10\00:23:55.30 Yeah, you know, that's God's country. 00:23:55.33\00:23:56.97 Wonderful! Especially in the winter. 00:23:57.00\00:23:59.30 It gets beautiful because of all of the mountains. 00:23:59.33\00:24:01.24 But, anyway, something which Taos has, which I'm sure other 00:24:01.27\00:24:06.74 places have, but it impacted me, is a huge number of art 00:24:06.78\00:24:11.21 galleries. They have so many artists. 00:24:11.25\00:24:15.35 Many of them are Native Americans. 00:24:15.38\00:24:17.02 And, you know, you can go to their shop, and you can see them 00:24:17.05\00:24:20.69 actually painting works of art. 00:24:20.72\00:24:23.39 And I had the privilege, while I was there, I had a series of 00:24:23.43\00:24:27.30 meetings for three weeks one time. 00:24:27.30\00:24:28.66 In fact it was on Genesis. 00:24:28.70\00:24:29.90 This was many years ago. 00:24:29.93\00:24:31.43 And I used to enjoy going to the art galleries, 00:24:31.47\00:24:34.24 and watching the artist work. 00:24:34.27\00:24:35.67 And do you know what they would do? 00:24:35.70\00:24:37.17 What they would do is they would, first of all, 00:24:37.21\00:24:39.17 take a frame, a wooden frame, and then they would staple 00:24:39.21\00:24:42.31 a piece of canvas over the frame. 00:24:42.34\00:24:48.15 They would make sure that it was nice and tight. 00:24:48.18\00:24:50.05 They would place it on the easel, and then they would 00:24:50.09\00:24:53.89 sit down, and I'm dramatizing for effect. 00:24:53.92\00:24:55.89 They would sit down, and they would put some colors on the 00:24:55.92\00:24:59.59 canvas. And after they finished the first day of work they 00:24:59.63\00:25:03.06 would look at the canvas and say, It looks good. 00:25:03.10\00:25:06.80 And then the second day they would come and they would 00:25:06.84\00:25:10.14 add a few colors there. 00:25:10.17\00:25:11.77 They would perhaps add a few clouds in the sky. 00:25:11.81\00:25:15.24 And then after a day's work they would look, and they would 00:25:15.28\00:25:18.61 say, Hum, it looks good! 00:25:18.65\00:25:21.28 Then they would come the third day and they would add some 00:25:21.32\00:25:23.89 hills, and they would add some mountains, and some trees, 00:25:23.92\00:25:26.59 and some plants, and some flowers. 00:25:26.62\00:25:28.96 And at the end of the third day they would look and they would 00:25:28.99\00:25:31.19 say, Hum, looks good! 00:25:31.23\00:25:33.96 Then the fourth day they would sit down, and they would 00:25:34.00\00:25:36.70 probably, you know, paint a sun in the sky, and they would add 00:25:37.10\00:25:40.80 a few more colors to the canvas. 00:25:40.84\00:25:42.57 And at the end of the fourth day they'd look at their work, 00:25:42.60\00:25:45.77 and they'd say, Hum, looks good! 00:25:45.81\00:25:48.64 And the fifth day they would have jumping out of a lake, 00:25:48.68\00:25:52.51 you know, some fish. 00:25:52.55\00:25:54.05 And they would color some birds flying through the air. 00:25:54.08\00:25:57.69 And at the end of the fifth day, they would look and they would 00:25:57.72\00:26:00.09 say, Hum, looks real good! 00:26:00.12\00:26:03.36 And then the sixth day they would sit down and they would 00:26:03.39\00:26:06.73 and some giraffes, and some elephants, and different kinds 00:26:06.76\00:26:09.66 of animals on the canvas, and then they would paint a woman 00:26:09.70\00:26:14.87 and a man perhaps, there enjoying the beautiful scenery. 00:26:14.90\00:26:18.37 And then they would add the final touches to the canvas, 00:26:18.41\00:26:24.71 and look and say, It is very good! 00:26:24.75\00:26:31.62 Now let me ask you, was the work of art finished? 00:26:31.65\00:26:37.59 I said they finished. I said he finished. 00:26:37.63\00:26:41.50 Is the work of art finished? 00:26:41.53\00:26:44.20 Yes, and No. The work itself is finished, but what is lacking? 00:26:44.23\00:26:52.27 The signature of the author of the work of art. 00:26:52.31\00:26:57.51 Without identifying who made it, (Hello), anybody can come along 00:27:00.95\00:27:05.89 and claim it. But the fact is that the picture was finished; 00:27:05.92\00:27:11.19 the work of art was finished. 00:27:11.23\00:27:12.33 But then the artist would take the brush. 00:27:12.36\00:27:18.13 See, I'm not an artist. 00:27:18.17\00:27:20.04 He would take the brush, and he would sign his name 00:27:20.07\00:27:24.04 to the work of art. 00:27:24.07\00:27:25.11 And then the work was finished. 00:27:25.14\00:27:30.81 If we apply this to creation, now we understand how Jesus 00:27:30.85\00:27:36.02 finished His work twice. 00:27:36.05\00:27:37.55 The sixth day He finished a work of art. 00:27:37.59\00:27:40.89 And, by the way, this work of art was not ecstatic that when 00:27:40.92\00:27:44.76 you look at it it's always the same. 00:27:44.79\00:27:47.30 This was a living picture. 00:27:47.36\00:27:50.00 It was a picture that changed at every instant, 00:27:50.03\00:27:53.40 at every moment. He made this beautiful world. 00:27:53.44\00:27:56.17 This beautiful work of art. 00:27:56.20\00:27:58.04 But Jesus knew that it was necessary to identify who was 00:27:58.07\00:28:04.21 the One who made this work of art. 00:28:04.25\00:28:07.02 And that's the reason why He created the Sabbath. 00:28:07.05\00:28:10.85 The Sabbath identifies the Creator. 00:28:10.89\00:28:14.62 The Sabbath is the signature of Jesus upon His work 00:28:14.66\00:28:18.73 of creation. It tells us who made all of these things. 00:28:18.76\00:28:23.57 Are you understanding what I'm saying? 00:28:23.60\00:28:25.37 Now, I mentioned that God wasn't tired, Jesus wasn't tired when 00:28:25.40\00:28:31.47 He finished creation week. 00:28:31.51\00:28:32.61 Let's go to Isaiah 40:28, Isaiah 40:28. 00:28:32.64\00:28:39.05 Here we find an interesting declaration about creation, 00:28:39.08\00:28:43.18 and about the Creator. 00:28:43.22\00:28:44.52 And I want you to notice this interesting statement 00:28:44.55\00:28:48.12 of the prophet Isaiah. It says here: 00:28:48.16\00:28:51.46 Does the Creator get weary, according to this verse? 00:29:12.88\00:29:17.22 Was Jesus tired at the end of creation week? Absolutely not! 00:29:17.25\00:29:21.12 By the way, was man tired? 00:29:21.16\00:29:25.43 I don't know whether you've stopped to think about this. 00:29:26.96\00:29:29.40 Man was created on the second half of the first day. 00:29:29.43\00:29:33.87 So his first day on earth, first full day on earth, was the day 00:29:33.90\00:29:39.11 of what? It was the day of rest. 00:29:39.14\00:29:41.71 Now this is strange! 00:29:41.74\00:29:43.08 God rests, and He's not tired. 00:29:43.11\00:29:46.41 And man hadn't worked, and so he rests, 00:29:46.45\00:29:50.49 and he's not tired either. 00:29:50.52\00:29:52.09 Why would you have God and man resting on the Sabbath 00:29:52.12\00:29:56.56 if neither one of them are tired? 00:29:56.59\00:29:58.93 There must be a deeper purpose to the observance of the Sabbath 00:29:58.96\00:30:05.57 than physical rest. 00:30:05.60\00:30:08.50 Are you understanding what I am saying? 00:30:08.54\00:30:10.77 There's a deeper dimension to the Sabbath than physical rest, 00:30:10.81\00:30:15.08 because Adam wasn't tired, Eve wasn't tired, 00:30:15.11\00:30:18.21 and God wasn't tired either. 00:30:18.25\00:30:21.35 And, by the way, have you ever noticed in the creation story 00:30:21.38\00:30:24.35 that Adam and Eve did none of the work? 00:30:24.39\00:30:26.86 How much work of creation did Adam and Eve perform? 00:30:26.89\00:30:31.09 Nothing! And so when the seventh day comes around, God says to 00:30:31.13\00:30:37.87 Adam and Eve, I'm going to come down to the garden, 00:30:37.90\00:30:41.40 and I want you, Adam, and you, Eve, to spend the Sabbath 00:30:41.44\00:30:49.01 with me. I want us to rest together. 00:30:49.04\00:30:52.25 And you say, well, that's not what Genesis says. 00:30:52.28\00:30:54.48 Genesis says that God rested. 00:30:54.52\00:30:56.99 That's true, but notice what Jesus says in Mark 2:27, 00:30:57.02\00:31:02.66 Mark 2:27. And we'll read verse 28 also. 00:31:02.69\00:31:08.80 Notice Jesus, who was the Creator of the Sabbath, 00:31:08.83\00:31:12.23 what He has to say. 00:31:12.27\00:31:14.00 Mark 2:27. And He said to them: 00:31:14.04\00:31:19.11 ...and not man for the Sabbath. 00:31:27.92\00:31:31.32 Therefore the Son of man is also Lord of what? 00:31:31.35\00:31:38.46 Lord of the Sabbath. 00:31:38.49\00:31:39.73 For whom was the Sabbath made? 00:31:39.76\00:31:40.96 The Sabbath was not made for God, because God doesn't need 00:31:40.96\00:31:45.00 a Sabbath of rest. The Sabbath was made for man. 00:31:45.03\00:31:48.17 And yet God rested, and He invited man to rest. 00:31:48.20\00:31:52.14 Now why would they rest together? 00:31:52.17\00:31:54.08 Let me dramatize what happened that first Sabbath. 00:31:54.11\00:31:57.31 By the way, the last thing that God makes on the sixth day 00:31:57.35\00:32:02.55 is marriage. Do you notice that? 00:32:02.58\00:32:06.82 He calls Adam and Eve and He says, Adam, Eve, could you stand 00:32:06.86\00:32:11.23 right here in front of Me? 00:32:11.26\00:32:12.26 Ah, we're going to have our first marriage here. 00:32:12.29\00:32:14.50 And He pronounces those words: What God hath joined together 00:32:14.56\00:32:19.40 let not man cast asunder. 00:32:19.43\00:32:21.34 I declare you man and wife. 00:32:21.37\00:32:22.67 He didn't say that, but He married them. 00:32:22.70\00:32:25.71 And immediately after He marries them, the holy hours 00:32:25.74\00:32:30.85 of the Sabbath begin. 00:32:30.88\00:32:32.25 Now, have you noticed that during creation week, 00:32:32.28\00:32:35.22 the first six days God made things? 00:32:35.25\00:32:38.52 On the seventh day He made holy time. 00:32:38.55\00:32:42.32 This shows us that time is more important than what? 00:32:43.89\00:32:46.93 than things. In fact, during the sixth days of labor and work 00:32:46.96\00:32:54.70 we remember the things of God, whereas on the seventh day 00:32:54.74\00:32:58.94 the purpose is to remember the God of things. 00:32:58.97\00:33:01.58 Now, allow me to mention what happened on that first Sabbath. 00:33:03.91\00:33:08.42 God calls Adam and Eve. 00:33:08.45\00:33:10.49 He's resting with them. 00:33:10.52\00:33:11.52 It says so in Genesis. 00:33:11.55\00:33:12.69 And Jesus says to Adam, Well, Adam, what do you think? 00:33:12.72\00:33:18.93 Well, Lord, You could have made that tree a little bit taller 00:33:18.96\00:33:22.76 over there. I don't think so! 00:33:22.80\00:33:25.20 Jesus says, Do you like what you see? 00:33:25.23\00:33:29.67 What do you think Adam said? Wow! 00:33:29.70\00:33:34.14 How about those birds over there? Amazing! 00:33:34.18\00:33:37.88 How about this wife that I gave you? Wow! 00:33:37.91\00:33:41.22 How about this husband? Oh, marvelous! 00:33:41.25\00:33:44.99 In other words, on that day Jesus met with Adam and Eve 00:33:45.02\00:33:49.72 and they contemplated His work of creation. 00:33:49.76\00:33:53.40 God said, All of this that you see, I made for you. 00:33:53.43\00:33:59.03 It is My gift for you. 00:33:59.07\00:34:00.84 But you might forget where this came from. 00:34:03.34\00:34:08.34 So what I want us to do is every seventh day you're going 00:34:08.38\00:34:11.78 to interrupt your activities. 00:34:11.81\00:34:14.48 You're going to interrupt your endeavors. 00:34:14.52\00:34:16.92 And for twenty-four whole hours I'm going to come to the garden 00:34:16.95\00:34:22.42 and We're going to contemplate what I made for you. 00:34:22.46\00:34:27.86 The focus is going to shift from you to Me. 00:34:27.86\00:34:31.77 By the way, have you noticed that on the sixth day God made 00:34:31.80\00:34:35.67 Adam king of creation? 00:34:35.70\00:34:38.97 He gave Adam and Eve dominion, the Bible says. 00:34:39.01\00:34:42.01 But by creating the seventh day God is saying to Adam and Eve, 00:34:42.04\00:34:45.11 you are Lord's of creation, but the seventh day shows that I am 00:34:45.15\00:34:48.55 your Lord, because I made you; you're My creatures. 00:34:48.58\00:34:54.12 And so every seventh day Jesus promised to come and meet 00:34:54.16\00:34:58.83 with Adam and Eve so that they could contemplate His works 00:34:58.86\00:35:01.46 of creation; His marvelous works of creation. 00:35:01.50\00:35:03.57 And in this way their hearts would be filled with reverence, 00:35:03.60\00:35:06.80 and with love, and with gratefulness, because of the 00:35:06.84\00:35:11.04 love, and the wisdom of Jesus in giving them this gift. 00:35:11.07\00:35:15.24 Notice that they had not worked for it; it was a gift. 00:35:15.28\00:35:19.28 Is this true of salvation, too? 00:35:20.85\00:35:22.85 See, this is part two. 00:35:22.88\00:35:24.32 We're not dealing with the Sabbath and salvation in our 00:35:24.35\00:35:26.86 lecture today. We're going to deal with that tomorrow, 00:35:26.89\00:35:29.39 because the Sabbath has an additional dimension. 00:35:29.42\00:35:31.66 You see, the purpose of the Sabbath is to show that Jesus 00:35:31.69\00:35:35.90 works, and we simply receive His gift and accept it. 00:35:35.93\00:35:39.73 And keeping the Sabbath is a sign that we believe that He 00:35:39.77\00:35:43.14 is the Creator, and that we're thankful and grateful to Him, 00:35:43.17\00:35:46.31 and that we worship Him because He is our Creator. 00:35:46.34\00:35:49.28 How about it? Can you imagine Adam saying, You mean to say 00:35:49.31\00:35:54.95 that I have to take a whole day of the week out of my busy 00:35:54.98\00:36:00.12 schedule? And we have twenty- four hours to suspend all of my 00:36:00.16\00:36:05.83 things so that we can just talk about You, and what You've done? 00:36:05.86\00:36:09.43 How is it, Lord, that You deliver unto me this yoke 00:36:09.46\00:36:13.00 of bondage? You know what I think Adam said, what Eve said? 00:36:13.03\00:36:19.11 They said, Jesus, couldn't we meet every day? 00:36:19.14\00:36:23.38 Because if they loved Jesus, would they want to spend that 00:36:25.38\00:36:28.62 time of fellowship with Jesus? Yes! 00:36:28.65\00:36:31.22 The sixth day Jesus says, Adam I made you for Eve. 00:36:31.25\00:36:35.39 Eve I made you for Adam. 00:36:35.42\00:36:36.79 But the seventh day He says, Adam and Eve, I made you for Me. 00:36:36.83\00:36:40.16 I am your Lord. I am your Creator. 00:36:40.20\00:36:44.63 I made you for fellowship. 00:36:44.67\00:36:46.37 Suspend your things, and just come and enjoy rest with Me. 00:36:46.40\00:36:53.68 That was the original intent of the Holy Sabbath, 00:36:55.18\00:36:58.08 and God knew that people might forget it. 00:36:58.11\00:37:01.32 That's why, in the fourth commandment He says, 00:37:01.35\00:37:03.22 Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. 00:37:04.62\00:37:06.09 Do you think that if the Sabbath was necessary at creation, 00:37:06.12\00:37:09.36 in a perfect world, with a perfect Adam and Eve, 00:37:09.39\00:37:12.63 if it was necessary to remind them about their roots, 00:37:12.66\00:37:16.90 the source of their existence, how wonderful their Creator was, 00:37:16.93\00:37:20.50 how much love He had for them by giving them all of these 00:37:20.54\00:37:23.77 things free of charge, without their working for them. 00:37:23.81\00:37:26.47 Do you think that Adam and Eve needed to remember who 00:37:26.51\00:37:33.75 the Creator was? Obviously, Yes, 00:37:33.78\00:37:36.38 because the Sabbath was created for that purpose. 00:37:36.42\00:37:39.59 Now, it's interesting that some individuals say that the Sabbath 00:37:39.62\00:37:47.00 was okay in the Old Testament, but that the Sabbath does not 00:37:47.03\00:37:52.00 apply to Christians today. 00:37:52.03\00:37:53.44 I once had an interesting conversation with a pastor 00:37:53.47\00:37:57.44 friend. He was not a pastor of the same church 00:37:57.47\00:37:59.94 that I belong to. And just to play devil's advocate, 00:38:00.04\00:38:03.38 I said to him, You know what? 00:38:03.41\00:38:05.08 I believe that's it's perfectly okay for a man to marry a man, 00:38:05.11\00:38:08.18 and a woman to marry a woman. 00:38:08.22\00:38:09.58 Now, I don't believe that, but I said that to him. 00:38:12.02\00:38:16.52 And his eyes bulged, and he looked at me and he says, 00:38:16.56\00:38:20.83 You as a pastor would say that you think that a man can marry 00:38:20.86\00:38:25.33 a man, and a woman a woman? 00:38:25.37\00:38:27.14 I said, Sure, why not? 00:38:27.17\00:38:30.24 And he looked at me and he says, the answer is obvious. 00:38:30.27\00:38:34.28 The Bible says that at the beginning God made Adam and Eve, 00:38:34.31\00:38:39.18 and He performed the first marriage between a man 00:38:39.21\00:38:43.18 and a woman. And then I had him where I wanted him. 00:38:43.22\00:38:45.52 And I looked at him and I said, Okay, good point. 00:38:45.55\00:38:50.89 What else did Jesus make at creation week? 00:38:50.93\00:38:54.10 And boy, you should have seen him. 00:38:57.17\00:38:58.50 You could have heard a pin drop. 00:38:58.53\00:38:59.67 And I'm still waiting for his answer. 00:39:01.07\00:39:04.51 You see the Sabbath was made at the same time as marriage. 00:39:04.54\00:39:08.21 And so if you say that marriage still applies between a man 00:39:10.11\00:39:13.88 and a woman, and you argue on the basis of creation, 00:39:13.92\00:39:17.02 you must also argue on the basis of creation that the Sabbath 00:39:17.05\00:39:20.99 is still binding. And, by the way, some people say the Sabbath 00:39:21.02\00:39:24.36 was for the Jews. Listen up to what I'm going to say. 00:39:24.39\00:39:26.56 No place in the Bible does it say that the Sabbath was 00:39:26.59\00:39:29.96 the Sabbath of the Jews. 00:39:30.00\00:39:31.27 Furthermore, Adam was not a Jew, because the name Jew comes from 00:39:31.30\00:39:36.74 Judah, one of the sons of Jacob. 00:39:36.77\00:39:38.31 In fact the Sabbath, some people say, Well, the Sabbath was 00:39:39.97\00:39:42.28 a symbol of the rest that we have in Jesus 00:39:42.31\00:39:44.25 when He died on the cross to give us His spiritual rest. 00:39:44.28\00:39:46.35 Listen folks, when the Sabbath was created there was no need 00:39:46.38\00:39:49.52 for any Redeemer, because man had not sinned. 00:39:49.55\00:39:52.62 The Sabbath is part of God's original plan for man. 00:39:52.65\00:39:56.76 It is not an after thought of God. 00:39:56.79\00:39:58.83 Well, I'll give them the Sabbath now to show them the rest that I 00:39:58.86\00:40:01.80 am going to give them someday when I die on the cross. 00:40:01.83\00:40:03.70 There was no need for a cross when the Sabbath was created. 00:40:03.73\00:40:06.87 There were no Jews, so you can't say that the Sabbath was 00:40:06.90\00:40:10.31 made for the Jews. 00:40:10.34\00:40:11.37 Am I making myself clear? 00:40:11.41\00:40:13.78 The Sabbath is a creation institution. 00:40:13.81\00:40:17.48 Now I'd like to ask the question, when does the 00:40:17.51\00:40:20.28 Sabbath begin? This is very important. 00:40:20.32\00:40:23.85 You know, some people say I keep Sunday. 00:40:23.89\00:40:26.09 And what they do is go to church on Sunday. 00:40:26.12\00:40:28.39 It's not the same to go to church on Sunday, 00:40:28.42\00:40:31.76 or go to church on Saturday, as observing the Sabbath 00:40:31.79\00:40:36.53 the way the Bible says. 00:40:36.56\00:40:37.70 Notice Genesis 1:5, Genesis 1:5. 00:40:37.73\00:40:44.04 This is a formula that is used each day of creation. 00:40:44.07\00:40:48.31 It says there in verse 5: 00:40:48.34\00:40:50.31 Did you notice the order? 00:41:02.36\00:41:03.66 What comes first, the evening or the morning? 00:41:03.69\00:41:05.59 According to this it's the evening and the morning. 00:41:05.63\00:41:09.16 And, by the way, the word evening means sunset. 00:41:09.20\00:41:13.87 Go with me to Mark 1:32, Mark 1:32. 00:41:13.90\00:41:20.38 Here it's speaking about the healings of Jesus, 00:41:22.51\00:41:25.35 and these are the words that we find. 00:41:25.38\00:41:27.35 At evening...Notice the same word. 00:41:27.38\00:41:31.92 When is evening? When the sun what? 00:41:42.86\00:41:46.23 When the sun sets. 00:41:46.27\00:41:47.97 And it says in the Bible, from evening to evening 00:41:48.00\00:41:52.54 shall you keep, your what? your Sabbaths. 00:41:52.57\00:41:56.95 Now let me ask you, do you know why we have a week today? 00:41:56.98\00:42:00.72 Why does a week have seven days? 00:42:00.75\00:42:02.48 Do you know that every measurement of time that we have 00:42:04.99\00:42:07.82 has an astronomical explanation, except one? 00:42:07.86\00:42:11.86 Our year is the amount of time that it takes our earth to make 00:42:11.89\00:42:17.13 one complete revolution around the sun: 365 and 1/4 days. 00:42:17.17\00:42:21.47 It has an astronomical explanation. 00:42:22.47\00:42:24.44 Our month, technically speaking, is the period between one 00:42:24.47\00:42:28.81 new moon and another. 00:42:28.84\00:42:29.94 The day is the amount of time that it takes our planet to 00:42:31.65\00:42:35.38 make one complete turn on its axis. 00:42:35.42\00:42:37.29 Every one of those measurements has an astronomical 00:42:37.32\00:42:41.66 explanation. There's one measurement of time that has no 00:42:41.69\00:42:44.23 astronomical explanation, and that is the week. 00:42:44.26\00:42:46.63 Why does the week have seven days? 00:42:46.66\00:42:48.20 It could have ten. It could have five. 00:42:48.23\00:42:50.77 Why does it have seven days? 00:42:50.80\00:42:54.47 Simply because that's the way that God made the Sabbath, 00:42:54.50\00:42:59.27 that Jesus made the week, and the Sabbath at the beginning 00:42:59.31\00:43:02.14 of human history. And the weekly cycle has continued 00:43:02.18\00:43:06.78 uninterrupted since that time. 00:43:06.82\00:43:09.45 By the way, do you know that there are some people that say, 00:43:09.48\00:43:13.79 Well, you know, that's okay, but we don't know whether 00:43:13.82\00:43:16.09 the Sabbath today is the same Sabbath that existed 00:43:16.12\00:43:18.89 way back then. We don't know whether the weekly cycle 00:43:18.93\00:43:22.13 has been broken. Biblically we can show that the weekly cycle 00:43:22.16\00:43:26.87 has not been broken. 00:43:26.90\00:43:28.17 By the way, Christians have no problems saying that the Sunday 00:43:28.20\00:43:30.64 that we keep is the Sunday Jesus resurrected. 00:43:30.67\00:43:33.17 It's just the Sabbath that Adventist's keep 00:43:33.21\00:43:37.18 that isn't the same Sabbath. 00:43:37.21\00:43:38.75 But the Sunday that we keep today is the same 00:43:38.78\00:43:41.55 Sunday as the Resurrection. 00:43:41.58\00:43:42.75 You can't have it both ways. 00:43:42.78\00:43:44.19 If the Sunday that is observed today is supposedly in honor 00:43:44.22\00:43:48.59 of the resurrection of Jesus, then the day before Sunday, 00:43:48.62\00:43:51.33 the Sabbath, is also the same Sabbath. 00:43:51.36\00:43:53.86 Are you understanding what I'm saying? 00:43:53.90\00:43:56.36 And if the Sabbath today is the same Sabbath as it was 00:43:57.43\00:44:00.44 in the days of Christ, and Jesus kept that Sabbath, 00:44:00.47\00:44:04.01 because we find in Luke 4:16 that it was the custom of Jesus 00:44:04.04\00:44:08.71 to go to the synagogue to observe the Sabbath. 00:44:08.74\00:44:10.98 Now listen up to what I'm going to say. 00:44:11.01\00:44:12.45 If Jesus kept the same Sabbath, which we keep today, 00:44:12.48\00:44:15.38 which is true, astronomically and historically. 00:44:15.42\00:44:19.22 Even Christians recognize that, because they observe Sunday, 00:44:19.25\00:44:23.09 in honor of the resurrection of Jesus. 00:44:23.12\00:44:24.66 If that's true, then we have to conclude that the Sabbath 00:44:24.69\00:44:32.60 that Jesus observed is the same Sabbath of creation, 00:44:32.63\00:44:35.67 because do you think Jesus would be observing the wrong Sabbath, 00:44:35.70\00:44:38.27 being the Creator of the Sabbath in His day? 00:44:38.31\00:44:40.38 Are you understanding my point? 00:44:40.41\00:44:42.41 If the Sabbath of Christ is the same Sabbath of today, 00:44:42.44\00:44:45.81 and Jesus kept it, and Jesus created the Sabbath. 00:44:45.85\00:44:48.58 It must be the same Sabbath that He made at the beginning, 00:44:48.62\00:44:50.85 because the Creator would not be observing the wrong day. 00:44:50.89\00:44:54.96 In fact if you look, and I'll just mention this, 00:44:54.99\00:45:00.93 at Luke 23:54 through Luke 24:1, you'll find the sequence 00:45:00.96\00:45:07.10 of days. It very clearly says there that Jesus died 00:45:07.14\00:45:10.64 on the Preparation Day, the day before the Sabbath, 00:45:10.67\00:45:14.18 it says there, Jesus died. 00:45:14.21\00:45:15.64 Then it says that the women rested on the Sabbath day, 00:45:15.68\00:45:20.65 according to the commandment. 00:45:20.68\00:45:22.02 And then we're told in Luke 24:1 that Jesus resurrected 00:45:22.05\00:45:27.59 on the first day of the week. 00:45:27.62\00:45:28.86 So there you have the sequence. 00:45:28.89\00:45:31.66 You have Friday, His death. 00:45:31.69\00:45:34.36 By the way, Christians keep Good Friday. 00:45:34.40\00:45:37.77 Isn't it interesting how the Sabbath gets lost 00:45:37.80\00:45:40.47 during Holy Week? They speak about Palm Sunday. 00:45:40.50\00:45:45.57 And among Hispanics Holy Thursday is particularly 00:45:45.61\00:45:49.54 important: Jueves Santo. 00:45:49.58\00:45:51.38 Oh, that's a very important day. 00:45:51.41\00:45:53.31 And, you know, Crucifixion Friday, and Resurrection Sunday. 00:45:53.35\00:45:58.19 Who ever says anything about the Sabbath? 00:45:58.22\00:46:00.46 It's lost in the shuffle, because there's one who doesn't 00:46:02.39\00:46:06.19 want us to remember the Creator. 00:46:06.23\00:46:07.76 Who would that be? Satan. 00:46:07.83\00:46:12.47 So you find the sequence of days is the same. 00:46:12.50\00:46:17.31 By the way, did you notice that in the commandment, 00:46:17.34\00:46:19.51 and in Genesis, it doesn't say keep one day in seven. 00:46:19.54\00:46:22.94 Every day is the Sabbath. 00:46:22.98\00:46:24.18 Worship every seventh day. 00:46:26.82\00:46:28.78 Because some Christians say, Yeah, I worship every seventh 00:46:28.82\00:46:32.69 day. That's not what the Bible says. 00:46:32.72\00:46:35.06 The Bible says that the Sabbath is the seventh day. 00:46:35.09\00:46:39.09 The same seventh day of creation. 00:46:39.13\00:46:41.63 The same seventh day that Jesus kept, is the same seventh 00:46:41.66\00:46:45.57 day today. And it's a day when Jesus wants us to suspend all 00:46:45.60\00:46:49.50 of our activities. 00:46:49.54\00:46:51.01 And He wants us to forget about our business, 00:46:51.04\00:46:53.24 and about our work, and about our endeavors, 00:46:53.27\00:46:56.08 and our recreation. 00:46:56.11\00:46:57.38 He says, forget the things that I have made, and now we're going 00:46:57.41\00:47:01.72 to reflect, and we're going to think about our relationship. 00:47:01.75\00:47:04.32 Quality time in the rat race of life. 00:47:04.35\00:47:08.59 How about it? Is this a blessing? 00:47:08.62\00:47:10.59 Do you need a break? I do. 00:47:10.63\00:47:14.83 Actually, I work harder on Sabbath than any other day, 00:47:14.86\00:47:17.77 but it's a different kind of work. 00:47:18.43\00:47:20.20 The priests offered double sacrifices on the Sabbath, 00:47:20.24\00:47:23.57 but it was a delight for them. 00:47:23.61\00:47:25.81 I delight to have all of the church family together, 00:47:25.84\00:47:29.38 and enjoy the fellowship, and the church programming, 00:47:29.41\00:47:33.05 and the corporate worship. 00:47:33.08\00:47:35.22 It's absolutely beautiful! 00:47:35.25\00:47:37.29 Now, do you know that the Sabbath is the only day 00:47:37.32\00:47:41.52 in the Bible that is declared to be holy? 00:47:41.56\00:47:45.09 By the way, some people say all the days are holy. 00:47:45.13\00:47:49.26 I keep every day. 00:47:49.30\00:47:50.47 The Bible never says you're supposed to keep every day. 00:47:50.50\00:47:52.50 It says six days you're supposed to work. 00:47:52.53\00:47:54.10 The seventh day is the Sabbath that we're 00:47:56.44\00:47:58.31 supposed to keep holy. 00:47:58.34\00:47:59.57 Listen, if all days are holy, then God would not be able to 00:47:59.61\00:48:06.28 separate the Sabbath as holy, because in order to separate 00:48:06.31\00:48:09.72 one day as holy, the rest of the days have to be secular days. 00:48:09.75\00:48:13.22 Hello! Are you catching my point? 00:48:13.25\00:48:16.29 In order to separate a holy day, that means that the other 00:48:16.32\00:48:19.36 ones aren't holy. 00:48:19.39\00:48:20.56 For example, I have a church hymnal, and I have my Bible. 00:48:20.60\00:48:23.77 Well, let's not use the church hymnal. 00:48:23.80\00:48:25.50 Let's use a history book that we use in college. 00:48:25.53\00:48:27.70 Are they different? 00:48:27.74\00:48:30.37 Yes! Do they have paper? 00:48:30.41\00:48:35.28 Do they have covers? 00:48:35.31\00:48:37.01 Do they have a name? 00:48:37.05\00:48:38.85 Sure, they're exactly the same, right? No. 00:48:38.88\00:48:41.88 What separates the Bible from other books? 00:48:42.85\00:48:45.02 It's God's Holy Word. 00:48:45.05\00:48:48.29 How about the tithe? 00:48:48.32\00:48:51.13 I put a dollar bill into the offering plate, 00:48:53.40\00:48:55.73 and I have a dollar bill in my pocket. 00:48:55.76\00:48:57.43 Are they the same? 00:48:57.47\00:48:58.67 Don't they both have George Washington? 00:48:58.70\00:49:01.47 Yes, they do, but are they the same? 00:49:02.40\00:49:04.81 No, because one is secular, and the other is what? 00:49:04.84\00:49:08.38 the other is holy. 00:49:08.41\00:49:09.54 You have this building, and you have other buildings. 00:49:09.58\00:49:12.51 You have city hall. 00:49:12.55\00:49:13.88 Is this building different than city hall? 00:49:13.92\00:49:16.58 It most certainly is, because this building is what? 00:49:16.62\00:49:20.02 It's been separated for a holy use. 00:49:20.06\00:49:22.92 And so six days are secular, and one day, which Jesus has 00:49:22.96\00:49:28.86 separated, is holy; the seventh day, according to scripture. 00:49:28.90\00:49:35.57 Some people say, well, hasn't it been changed> 00:49:35.60\00:49:37.64 Why would God change it? 00:49:39.27\00:49:40.48 Why would Jesus change it? 00:49:42.01\00:49:43.28 Nowhere in the Bible do you find that it says that 00:49:43.31\00:49:45.41 the day was changed. 00:49:45.45\00:49:46.41 No place do you find Jesus saying, well folks, 00:49:46.45\00:49:48.45 now we're not supposed to keep Sabbath anymore, 00:49:48.48\00:49:50.69 because I resurrected. 00:49:50.72\00:49:52.32 Now we're going to start keeping Sunday. 00:49:52.35\00:49:53.72 There's no thus sayeth the Lord; there's no command, 00:49:53.76\00:49:55.86 like the Bible commands us to observe the seventh day Sabbath. 00:49:55.89\00:49:58.83 Some people say it doesn't really matter, Pastor, 00:49:58.86\00:50:01.36 which day we keep, as long as we're sincere, 00:50:01.40\00:50:03.33 and we dedicate one day to the Lord. 00:50:03.37\00:50:05.80 Do you think God accepts a secular day that we offer Him, 00:50:08.20\00:50:11.21 instead of the holy day that He has established? 00:50:11.24\00:50:13.17 Do you remember the story of Nadab and Abihu? 00:50:13.21\00:50:16.18 God said, bring holy fire into the sanctuary? 00:50:17.61\00:50:20.55 And they were a little under the influence of alcohol? 00:50:21.98\00:50:24.29 The Bible says, and you can read this in chapter 10, 00:50:24.32\00:50:27.89 they entered into the sanctuary with common, ordinary, 00:50:27.92\00:50:31.59 everyday fire? not the holy fire from the altar? 00:50:31.63\00:50:34.30 By the way, if you looked at those fires, 00:50:34.30\00:50:37.40 would they look alike? Sure. 00:50:37.43\00:50:39.87 If you put your finger in both fires, 00:50:39.90\00:50:41.84 would your finger be burned? 00:50:41.87\00:50:42.94 If you analyzed the chemical qualities of the fires, 00:50:42.97\00:50:46.51 would they be the same? 00:50:46.54\00:50:47.74 Yes, so why was the fire from the altar different than the 00:50:47.78\00:50:52.31 fire that they used for cooking? 00:50:52.35\00:50:53.78 Because the fire on the altar, God made what? holy. 00:50:53.82\00:50:57.59 And God said, bring holy fire. 00:50:57.62\00:50:59.49 And so they bring common, ordinary fire, 00:50:59.52\00:51:01.62 and they present it to the Lord, and God says, Oh, who cares? 00:51:01.66\00:51:05.26 Fire is fire. No way! 00:51:05.29\00:51:09.00 The Bible says that the glory of the Lord 00:51:10.27\00:51:12.90 destroyed Nadab and Abihu. 00:51:13.67\00:51:15.14 It's one of those references that people don't like to read, 00:51:15.17\00:51:17.47 because they say, Eew, you know, God destroyed them! 00:51:17.51\00:51:21.68 What was the principle? 00:51:23.31\00:51:24.75 They took something which was common, and they presented it 00:51:24.78\00:51:28.08 to God as if it was what? holy. 00:51:28.12\00:51:30.32 How do you suppose God feels when we take a common day of 00:51:30.35\00:51:33.25 work and present it to Him as if it were holy? 00:51:33.29\00:51:36.09 Is it the same principle? 00:51:36.12\00:51:38.36 The first day of the week is a day of work: 00:51:38.39\00:51:41.30 Six days you shall labor. 00:51:41.33\00:51:42.86 The first day is the first day of labor. 00:51:42.90\00:51:44.57 To bring that day and present it to Him as a holy day, 00:51:44.60\00:51:47.94 is the same principle. 00:51:47.97\00:51:49.47 God, if we know what His will is, will not accept that. 00:51:49.50\00:51:54.38 Some people say, Well, pastor, we're under grace, 00:51:54.41\00:51:56.14 we're not under the law. 00:51:56.18\00:51:57.25 So does that mean that you can commit adultery now? 00:51:57.28\00:51:59.25 You can go out and kill someone, right? 00:51:59.28\00:52:03.05 You can lie, you can covet, you can worship idols. 00:52:03.08\00:52:09.96 Can you do all of those things? 00:52:09.99\00:52:11.03 Is it okay? Oh, no, you can't do that! 00:52:11.06\00:52:13.80 Than why does a different principle apply to the Sabbath? 00:52:13.83\00:52:16.80 He who offends in one point, is guilty of all, 00:52:18.63\00:52:21.20 according to scripture. 00:52:21.24\00:52:22.37 So just because we're under grace doesn't give us the 00:52:22.40\00:52:25.04 license to disobey God's holy law. 00:52:25.07\00:52:27.18 Some people say it was for the Jews. 00:52:27.21\00:52:29.18 Never once does the Bible speak of the Sabbath as 00:52:29.21\00:52:31.21 the Sabbath of the Jews. 00:52:31.25\00:52:32.28 There was no Jew when it was established. 00:52:32.31\00:52:34.02 Oh, but isn't Sunday the Lord's day? No it isn't. 00:52:34.05\00:52:36.95 Twenty-three times in Scripture we are told that the Lord's day 00:52:36.99\00:52:41.59 is the Sabbath. The seventh day is the Sabbath 00:52:41.62\00:52:44.99 of the Lord thy God. 00:52:45.03\00:52:47.03 The Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath. 00:52:47.03\00:52:52.83 Never once does the Bible present the first day of 00:52:52.87\00:52:56.71 the week as a day of rest. 00:52:56.74\00:53:00.34 Some people say, Well, Jesus broke the Sabbath. 00:53:00.38\00:53:02.88 We'll deal with this accusation tomorrow. 00:53:02.91\00:53:06.18 Listen, if Jesus broke the Sabbath, 00:53:06.21\00:53:08.08 and the Sabbath is one of the ten commandments, 00:53:08.12\00:53:09.72 Jesus was a sinner, and Jesus needs a redeemer. 00:53:09.75\00:53:14.19 Are you understanding what I am saying? 00:53:14.22\00:53:18.23 Serious implications! 00:53:18.26\00:53:19.43 And, by the way, if Jesus broke the Sabbath, 00:53:19.46\00:53:21.63 then the Pharisees were right. 00:53:21.66\00:53:23.23 Are you going to take the side of the Pharisees? 00:53:23.26\00:53:27.84 Are you going to accuse Jesus of sinning? 00:53:29.04\00:53:31.27 Jesus did not break the Bible Sabbath, 00:53:31.31\00:53:33.51 He broke the Sabbath of the Pharisees, 00:53:33.54\00:53:36.41 which is not the same Sabbath, because the Pharisees 00:53:36.81\00:53:40.75 had made it a yoke of bondage. 00:53:40.78\00:53:42.68 It was a day of restrictions, and rules, and regulations 00:53:42.72\00:53:46.55 that made people miserable. 00:53:46.59\00:53:48.32 The original intention of just enjoying the whole day in 00:53:48.36\00:53:51.49 basking in God's presence, and taking a break from our things, 00:53:51.53\00:53:55.16 and just resting in God, and enjoying what He has done; 00:53:55.20\00:53:59.03 what He has given, that had been lost. 00:53:59.07\00:54:01.27 The delight had become a day of misery, and bondage. 00:54:01.30\00:54:05.74 And Jesus came to deliver the Sabbath from bondage. 00:54:05.77\00:54:08.81 Some people say it was beyond repair, so He got rid of it. 00:54:08.84\00:54:12.35 Well, the fact is that marriage was also beyond repair, 00:54:12.38\00:54:15.95 so I guess we've got to get rid of marriage, too. 00:54:17.22\00:54:19.52 Jesus addressed the issue. 00:54:19.55\00:54:22.06 You get divorced for any old reason, Jesus said. 00:54:22.09\00:54:24.39 So if you apply it to the Sabbath, 00:54:24.43\00:54:26.63 you have to apply it to marriage. 00:54:26.66\00:54:28.26 We can't pick and choose. 00:54:28.30\00:54:30.53 Some people say, but pastor, how can the majority be wrong? 00:54:30.57\00:54:33.37 Well, you show me one time in history when 00:54:35.20\00:54:36.74 the majority was right. 00:54:36.77\00:54:37.87 In the days of Noah how many were right? Eight! 00:54:41.91\00:54:48.75 The Bible says only one, the others tagged along. 00:54:48.78\00:54:51.52 Let me ask you, in the days of Daniel, did he stand alone? 00:54:54.09\00:54:56.62 did he stand alone? Yes he did. 00:54:58.93\00:55:02.33 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, when the multitudes 00:55:02.36\00:55:05.57 met in the valley of Dura, did Daniel stand alone? 00:55:05.60\00:55:10.07 He most certainly did. 00:55:10.11\00:55:12.57 How about Elijah? Did he stand alone? 00:55:12.61\00:55:15.94 He sure did. Did Jesus stand alone? 00:55:15.98\00:55:19.35 He even felt that His Father had forsaken Him. 00:55:19.38\00:55:22.55 My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken Me? 00:55:22.58\00:55:25.69 The fact is, folks, that the majority is never right, 00:55:25.72\00:55:30.69 because the majority, as a general rule, does not want 00:55:30.73\00:55:35.36 to order their lives in harmony with what God teaches. 00:55:35.40\00:55:38.63 It takes too much effort. 00:55:38.67\00:55:41.60 It cramps our lifestyle. 00:55:41.64\00:55:43.87 And so people, instead of following what God says, 00:55:43.91\00:55:47.91 they follow the crowd. 00:55:47.94\00:55:49.44 They follow peer pressure. 00:55:50.78\00:55:52.45 They trust their religious leaders. 00:55:52.48\00:55:56.32 Folks we cannot blindly trust our religious leaders. 00:55:56.35\00:55:59.75 I'm not saying that we should not respect our pastors. 00:55:59.79\00:56:02.96 What I'm saying is, we should not blindly follow them. 00:56:02.99\00:56:06.13 We should compare what they teach, with what the Holy Word 00:56:06.16\00:56:09.83 of God says. And we should follow the Word. 00:56:09.86\00:56:14.17 We can always trust the Word. 00:56:14.20\00:56:17.04 Some Christians say, Well, we have signs and wonders. 00:56:17.07\00:56:20.54 Don't you believe it! 00:56:22.21\00:56:23.38 Some ministers quote the Word out of context. 00:56:23.41\00:56:25.98 Be careful, go check it out for yourself. 00:56:27.18\00:56:29.78 Some people follow their reasoning. 00:56:29.82\00:56:32.19 Well, I honor Jesus on Resurrection Day. 00:56:32.22\00:56:35.49 That's human reasoning. 00:56:35.52\00:56:37.49 Some people follow the testimony of their senses. 00:56:39.33\00:56:41.80 Some follow the peer pressure of others. 00:56:41.83\00:56:44.00 We can only follow and trust the Word of God. 00:56:44.03\00:56:47.07 Do you remember that in our last lecture we said that the genuine 00:56:47.10\00:56:51.21 always comes before the counterfeit? 00:56:51.24\00:56:53.17 Now let's apply that principle to the day of worship. 00:56:53.21\00:56:57.11 Which was the original, genuine day of worship that Jesus made 00:56:57.15\00:57:01.82 for the human race? 00:57:01.85\00:57:03.12 There's no doubt. Do you think the devil, later on in history, 00:57:03.15\00:57:06.82 would have another day to rival the Sabbath? 00:57:06.86\00:57:09.02 The devil has a counterfeit for everything that God has true, 00:57:10.49\00:57:12.96 So the devil would obviously want to have a different day 00:57:12.99\00:57:17.97 of worship. I pray to God that we will all choose to spend 00:57:18.00\00:57:23.41 this time with Jesus. How about it? 00:57:23.44\00:57:27.51
