commandment of the law of God.

And then we have the reason
why God gave this commandment.

Notice verse 11. It says:

That is He made it holy.

Now there are two
things that I want us to notice

as we begin our study.

First of all, the reason for the
observance of this commandment

is creation. It says that God
gave us this commandment because

in six days He made the
heavens, the earth, the seas,

and all that is in them,
and He rested the seventh day.

So this commandment is
actually a creation ordinance.

The second thing that I want
us to notice about this verse

is that it clearly tells
us that God did three things

with the Sabbath.

First of all, we
are told that He rested.

And I want you to
remember these words: He rested.

Secondly, He
blessed the Sabbath.

And in the third place,
we find that God hallowed it,

or sanctified
it; He made it Holy.

So three ideas: resting,
blessing, and hallowing.

And it points us
back to creation.

Now if this commandment

The Word was God.

what does that mean,

examine the story of creation,

Jesus puts the planet in order.

He fills the planet with life.

Now, have you ever noticed
that there was a progression

conscious, or living.

Then he proceeded to create the
sun, the moon, and the stars.

and we find Him creating birds,
and we find Him creating fish,

creating human beings.

Now what Jesus did, was
during the first three days of

creation, to prepare the
planet for the living things

that He was going
to fill the planet with

on the last three days.

Now let's review what
Jesus did during creation week.

First Day: Jesus says, Let there

He organizes the planet,

they didn't have anybody to sing

is going to work on that.

end of the fifth day God looks

upon what He's made, Jesus does,
and He sees that it is good.

Now comes the sixth day.

several aspects about the tree
of life, and the tree of the

knowledge of good and evil.

Now the first thing that
Jesus made on the sixth day

were the land animals.

Secondly He made man.

Have you ever noticed that when

What the devil is trying to do

First method, signs and wonders.

You know, accept the sign and

said. The second method is
for the devil to actually change

God's Word. God has
said, You can't eat of any tree

of the garden, to get
Eve to exaggerate God's Word.

God told us not to touch it.

And later on we'll find that
the devil will actually quote

God's Word correctly, but he'll
leave certain portions out,

like in Psalm 91. See, he quoted
Psalm 91 correctly, but he left

a portion of it out.

And so, if you leave a portion
out, it can leave a totally

different, and wrong impression.

And then, of course, we find
that the devil tried to get Adam

and Eve to follow their senses.

follow their reasoning powers.

And he used Eve, a
person, to tempt Adam.

So the devil uses five methods
to try and get God's people

to disobey His clear,
explicit, simple Word.

Adam and Eve were supposed
to accept that Jesus was their

Creator, because Jesus told
them that He was their Creator.

After all, there could have
been other explanations, right?

Couldn't they have come
into existence by a big bang?

And that's what the
devil wanted Eve to believe.

He says, Oh, this story of
God that He's your Creator,

and that when you eat from
the tree you're going to die.

actually believe that?

You see, what God knows is
that if you eat from that tree,

be just like Him.

around, and God doesn't want

only one who wants to be God,

into thinking that if you eat,

you're going to die.

You're not going to die, you're
going to be just like Him.

And God doesn't want any rivals.

temptation really involves?

Because if they loved Jesus,
