Shall we bow our heads for prayer? 00:01:12.01\00:01:13.75 Our Father in Heaven, we thank You once again for the privilege 00:01:13.78\00:01:17.92 of being here to study the marvelous things from Your Word, 00:01:17.95\00:01:21.80 and specifically from the book of Genesis. 00:01:21.83\00:01:23.59 We ask for the guidance of Your Holy Spirit as we study about 00:01:23.62\00:01:29.08 the origin of evil, and how You will dispose of it eventually, 00:01:29.11\00:01:35.06 very, very soon. We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer 00:01:35.09\00:01:39.06 for we ask it in Jesus' name, Amen. 00:01:39.09\00:01:42.69 I'd like to begin our study in the book of Genesis 1:31, 00:01:42.72\00:01:50.57 Genesis 1:31. This is a very well known verse. 00:01:50.60\00:01:55.57 It's speaking about the conclusion of creation, 00:01:55.60\00:01:57.94 and it makes a very important statement. 00:01:57.97\00:02:00.71 Genesis 1:31. This is at the end of the sixth day. 00:02:00.74\00:02:06.20 It says there: Then God saw every thing that he had made, 00:02:06.23\00:02:11.53 and, indeed, it was very good. 00:02:11.56\00:02:16.90 Notice every day God sees, that's it's good, 00:02:16.93\00:02:21.82 but on the sixth day we're told that God saw that every thing 00:02:21.85\00:02:27.31 that He had made was very good. 00:02:27.34\00:02:30.53 So the evening and the morning were the sixth day. 00:02:30.56\00:02:34.30 Thus the Bible begins by telling us that God made every thing 00:02:34.33\00:02:41.09 good in this world. 00:02:41.12\00:02:43.50 But then we go to Genesis 3 and we discover that in the 00:02:43.53\00:02:49.09 garden of Eden a mysterious serpent shows up. 00:02:49.12\00:02:53.11 And this mysterious serpent is actually slandering God, 00:02:53.14\00:02:59.69 which seems to be a discordant note in the context of every 00:02:59.72\00:03:04.76 thing being created good, and created perfect. 00:03:04.79\00:03:08.19 Notice Genesis 3: 4, 5. 00:03:08.22\00:03:14.48 See, God had said, you're going to die if you eat from the tree. 00:03:20.84\00:03:23.56 The serpent says: 00:03:23.59\00:03:24.62 In other words, God is a liar. Verse 5: 00:03:26.50\00:03:31.33 Now in Genesis the serpent appears suddenly, speaking, 00:03:43.82\00:03:49.03 talking, and it makes you wonder where this serpent came from, 00:03:49.06\00:03:53.67 because God made Adam and Eve in His image. 00:03:53.70\00:03:56.96 He gave them the capacity to speak. 00:03:56.99\00:03:59.59 He gave them the capacity to communicate, 00:03:59.62\00:04:01.83 to make moral decisions, to hold on rational discussions. 00:04:01.86\00:04:05.44 Here we have a serpent holding a rational discussion 00:04:05.47\00:04:08.84 with the woman. The question is, where did this serpent 00:04:08.87\00:04:12.59 come from? Obviously, the serpent, as he's spoken of 00:04:12.63\00:04:16.62 here in Genesis 3, was not part of the creation of God. 00:04:16.65\00:04:20.65 I know that the snake itself was, but the serpent who was 00:04:20.68\00:04:24.36 using this animal obviously was not created during creation 00:04:24.39\00:04:29.52 week, because God made everything good. 00:04:29.55\00:04:32.18 Now where did he come from? 00:04:32.21\00:04:33.53 Go with me to the book of Revelation chapter 12. 00:04:33.56\00:04:37.48 Revelation chapter 12 speaks about the origin 00:04:37.51\00:04:42.40 of this slanderous serpent. 00:04:42.43\00:04:44.93 We're told there in Revelation 12:7 the following: 00:04:44.96\00:04:53.17 And war broke out in heaven. 00:04:53.20\00:04:56.49 Where did war break out? 00:04:56.52\00:04:58.49 It broke out in heaven. 00:04:58.52\00:05:00.41 This is important. 00:05:00.44\00:05:01.55 Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; 00:05:01.58\00:05:05.92 and the dragon and his angels fought, 00:05:05.95\00:05:08.70 but they did not prevail. 00:05:08.73\00:05:10.87 That is the devil and his angels did not prevail, 00:05:10.90\00:05:12.99 nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. 00:05:13.02\00:05:17.90 Now notice the reference back to Genesis. 00:05:24.30\00:05:26.27 The Old King James version says: the ancient serpent. 00:05:26.30\00:05:29.82 So this is referring to the story in Genesis 3. 00:05:29.85\00:05:33.86 That ancient serpent called the Devil and Satan... 00:05:33.89\00:05:40.47 Now we know how the Devil got to planet Earth. 00:05:49.13\00:05:53.03 Scripture tells us that he was cast out of heaven, 00:05:53.06\00:05:57.81 and he ended up here on planet Earth. 00:05:57.84\00:06:01.08 Now I'm so thankful that God in His Holy Word has given us 00:06:01.11\00:06:06.50 some details about the origin of this being in heaven. 00:06:06.53\00:06:10.83 We know about his origin. 00:06:10.86\00:06:13.62 We know about his sin in heaven. 00:06:13.65\00:06:16.94 And we also know what his final end will be. 00:06:16.97\00:06:20.77 Let's study a few things about this being as he originally 00:06:20.80\00:06:27.12 existed in heaven. Go with me to the book of Ezekiel 28, 00:06:27.15\00:06:32.60 and I would like to read verses 13 and 15, Ezekiel 28:13, 15. 00:06:32.63\00:06:42.67 Speaking about this being, it says this: 00:06:42.70\00:06:46.14 Notice what we find in verse 15. 00:07:10.94\00:07:14.22 How was this being created according to Ezekiel 28? 00:07:26.28\00:07:31.92 He was created perfect in his ways until iniquity was found 00:07:31.95\00:07:39.28 in him. God did not create the Devil. 00:07:39.31\00:07:44.25 God created a glorious, perfect being who chose to become 00:07:44.28\00:07:51.61 the devil. Because if God created the devil, 00:07:51.64\00:07:55.23 God is a greater devil than the devil. 00:07:55.26\00:07:57.92 But scripture tells us that God created him perfect 00:07:57.95\00:08:03.10 in all of his ways. 00:08:03.13\00:08:05.23 He was beautiful. 00:08:05.26\00:08:06.68 Now the question is, who created this glorious being, 00:08:06.71\00:08:12.69 which according to Isaiah, his name was Lucifer, 00:08:12.72\00:08:15.99 the star of the morning. 00:08:16.02\00:08:18.05 Who created him? Well, go with me to Colossians 1:16, 17, 00:08:18.08\00:08:26.07 Colossians 1:16, 17. 00:08:26.10\00:08:29.66 We read this in our last lecture, but we want to read it 00:08:29.69\00:08:33.49 again, because it's very important to understand who 00:08:33.52\00:08:36.27 created this glorious being. 00:08:36.30\00:08:38.94 It says there in verse 16, speaking about Jesus: 00:08:38.97\00:08:42.99 Clearly these verses teach that Jesus was the Creator 00:09:11.32\00:09:16.77 of everything in the universe. 00:09:16.80\00:09:19.78 Not only things in heaven, but also things on earth, 00:09:19.81\00:09:24.05 which must mean that Jesus was the Creator of Lucifer. 00:09:24.08\00:09:30.70 Now let's go back once again to Ezekiel 28:12, Ezekiel 28:12. 00:09:30.73\00:09:41.50 Here we find another interesting detail about this glorious 00:09:41.53\00:09:45.47 being. It says there: 00:09:45.50\00:09:47.24 And, of course, the king of Tyre is an earthly being, 00:09:51.88\00:09:54.67 but behind the earthly being is this Lucifer. And so it says: 00:09:54.70\00:10:01.30 Is it clear to you that this being was originally perfect? 00:10:18.64\00:10:24.20 He was full of wisdom. 00:10:24.23\00:10:26.53 He was full of beauty. 00:10:26.56\00:10:29.10 And that there was no sin in him when he was created by God. 00:10:29.13\00:10:34.21 This is very, very clear in Ezekiel 28. 00:10:34.24\00:10:38.58 Now what position did this majestic individual occupy? 00:10:38.61\00:10:45.81 Well, go with me to Ezekiel 28: 14, Ezekiel 28:14. 00:10:45.84\00:10:54.46 We find a very important detail here that I want to underline. 00:10:54.49\00:10:58.34 Very, very important! 00:10:58.37\00:11:00.04 It says here, speaking about this being: 00:11:00.07\00:11:04.49 Wow, now we understand that this being was an angel. 00:11:08.68\00:11:14.57 And he wasn't any old type of angel, he was a covering cherub 00:11:14.60\00:11:22.08 according to this verse. 00:11:22.11\00:11:23.71 Now let's continue reading verse 14. 00:11:23.74\00:11:27.51 By the way, that's Mount Zion. 00:11:35.06\00:11:36.44 The fiery stones are stars. 00:11:40.16\00:11:41.79 They represent angels. 00:11:41.82\00:11:43.25 He walked up and down in the midst of the angels, 00:11:43.28\00:11:46.68 according to this. Now you'll notice here that he's called 00:11:46.71\00:11:50.68 the covering cherub. 00:11:50.71\00:11:52.32 Now what is that, a covering cherub? 00:11:52.35\00:11:55.31 Well, we have to go back to the book of Exodus to discover 00:11:55.34\00:11:58.75 what a covering cherub is. 00:11:58.78\00:12:00.34 Let's go to the book of Exodus 25:19, 20, Exodus 25:19, 20. 00:12:00.37\00:12:11.40 Here we find a description of the sanctuary that Moses was 00:12:11.43\00:12:16.27 commanded to build by God. 00:12:16.30\00:12:18.49 And I want you to notice when the ark of the covenant 00:12:18.52\00:12:23.36 was built, how it was supposed to be built. 00:12:23.39\00:12:26.78 It says there in verse 19: 00:12:26.81\00:12:29.08 That is of the ark of the covenant. 00:12:36.13\00:12:38.25 That's the plural. 00:12:40.84\00:12:41.87 And now notice the next word. 00:12:55.14\00:12:56.50 So you noticed that the cherubim, or the cherubs were on 00:13:07.48\00:13:12.84 either side of the ark of the covenant. 00:13:12.87\00:13:15.10 The top of the ark of the covenant was known as the 00:13:15.13\00:13:18.64 mercy seat, and that's where the glory of God was manifested, 00:13:18.67\00:13:21.93 which is known as the Shekinah. 00:13:21.96\00:13:23.52 In other words, the ark of the covenant, the cover, 00:13:23.55\00:13:26.21 the mercy seat, represents the throne of God, 00:13:26.24\00:13:29.74 which means that Lucifer was one of the individuals who were 00:13:29.77\00:13:34.43 closest to God, who was sitting on the throne, because he was 00:13:34.46\00:13:39.17 one of the covering cherubs on one of the sides of the ark 00:13:39.20\00:13:44.87 of the covenant. Now somebody might be thinking, well, 00:13:44.90\00:13:47.93 Pastor Bohr, are you saying that in heaven there was an 00:13:47.96\00:13:51.41 ark of the covenant originally? 00:13:51.44\00:13:53.98 Wasn't that just an earthly piece of furniture that God 00:13:54.01\00:13:58.44 told Moses to build? 00:13:58.47\00:14:00.76 The fact is folks, that the Bible tells us in Hebrews 8:5 00:14:00.79\00:14:06.45 that the earthly sanctuary was a copy of the heavenly sanctuary. 00:14:06.48\00:14:12.65 In other words, what God did was show Moses on the mountain 00:14:12.68\00:14:17.27 a scale model of the heavenly sanctuary, and He told Moses 00:14:17.30\00:14:21.47 to build the earthly sanctuary in harmony with the scale model 00:14:21.50\00:14:25.96 of the heavenly one which God showed him. 00:14:25.99\00:14:28.39 So this must mean that if there was an ark of the covenant 00:14:28.42\00:14:33.48 in the earthly sanctuary, and the earthly sanctuary is built 00:14:33.51\00:14:38.24 according to the scale model, which is a model of the heavenly 00:14:38.27\00:14:42.47 sanctuary, that must mean that the heavenly sanctuary must also 00:14:42.50\00:14:46.72 contain what? It must contain the ark of the covenant. 00:14:46.75\00:14:51.29 Now let's prove that from scripture. 00:14:51.32\00:14:53.89 Go with me to the book of Revelation 11:19, 00:14:53.92\00:14:58.80 Revelation 11:19. Here we are told of a moment when the 00:14:58.83\00:15:07.23 heavenly temple is opened, and I want you to notice what John 00:15:07.26\00:15:10.31 sees inside the heavenly temple, of which the earthly temple 00:15:10.34\00:15:14.32 is a shadow or a copy. It says there: 00:15:14.35\00:15:18.01 ...and there were lightenings, noises, thunderings, 00:15:31.41\00:15:34.70 an earthquake, and great hail. 00:15:34.73\00:15:37.46 Question, is there an ark of the covenant in the heavenly 00:15:37.49\00:15:40.84 sanctuary according to this verse? 00:15:40.87\00:15:43.32 Absolutely, because John saw the heavenly sanctuary open 00:15:43.35\00:15:48.02 and he saw in the temple the ark of the covenant. 00:15:48.05\00:15:53.49 So when you have these two cherubim in the earthly 00:15:53.52\00:15:58.19 sanctuary on either side of the ark of the covenant, 00:15:58.22\00:16:01.37 is that a reflection of two covering cherubs that are 00:16:01.40\00:16:06.21 originally, and also now, even though Lucifer isn't 00:16:06.24\00:16:09.38 one of them, does the heavenly sanctuary have an ark of the 00:16:09.41\00:16:13.29 covenant, and are there cherubim on either side? 00:16:13.32\00:16:16.46 Obviously, yes. Now there's something else that we need to 00:16:16.49\00:16:20.80 take a look at when we talk about the ark of the covenant. 00:16:20.83\00:16:23.40 Go with me to the book of Deuteronomy 10:2, 00:16:23.43\00:16:28.82 Deuteronomy 10:2. 00:16:28.85\00:16:32.04 Here we find a description of the ark of the covenant. 00:16:32.07\00:16:35.76 And we're going to find that inside the ark of the covenant 00:16:35.79\00:16:38.87 was something very, very important, which all of us have 00:16:38.90\00:16:42.34 heard of. Actually, let's begin by reading verse 1. 00:16:42.37\00:16:45.86 It says: At that time the Lord said to me, Hew for yourself two 00:16:45.89\00:16:51.66 tables of stone like the first,... 00:16:51.69\00:16:54.88 Because Moses had broken the first. 00:16:54.91\00:16:56.45 ...and come up to me on the mountain, and make yourself 00:16:56.48\00:17:00.30 an ark of wood. 00:17:00.33\00:17:01.75 And now notice this: 00:17:09.59\00:17:11.25 What was Moses supposed to put in the ark? 00:17:15.17\00:17:19.35 He was supposed to put the tables of stone with the 00:17:19.38\00:17:22.69 ten commandments inside the ark of the covenant. 00:17:22.72\00:17:26.62 Now here's my question. 00:17:26.65\00:17:28.15 If the earthly sanctuary is a reflection of the heavenly 00:17:28.18\00:17:32.82 sanctuary, and the heavenly sanctuary has an ark of the 00:17:32.85\00:17:36.34 covenant, and the earthly sanctuary has an ark of the 00:17:36.37\00:17:39.17 covenant, and the earthly sanctuary has the 00:17:39.20\00:17:41.61 ten commandments within it, what must be within 00:17:41.64\00:17:45.73 the ark of the covenant in the heavenly sanctuary? 00:17:45.76\00:17:48.09 You must also have the ten commandments, 00:17:48.12\00:17:51.80 because if the earthly sanctuary is a reflection of the heavenly, 00:17:51.83\00:17:55.37 and the earthly sanctuary had the ten commandments inside, 00:17:55.40\00:17:59.01 it must mean that in heaven the ark of the covenant must also 00:17:59.04\00:18:03.37 contain what? It also must contain the ten commandments. 00:18:03.40\00:18:06.94 And by the way, the reason why the ten commandments are inside 00:18:06.97\00:18:10.32 the ark, the mercy seat is above, is because God is trying 00:18:10.35\00:18:13.59 to teach that the ten commandments are the foundation 00:18:13.62\00:18:17.94 of God's government. 00:18:17.97\00:18:19.80 They are the foundation of God's throne, just like the laws of 00:18:19.83\00:18:23.58 the United States are the foundation of our government. 00:18:23.61\00:18:26.39 In other words, the mercy seat is the throne of God, 00:18:26.42\00:18:29.70 the ten commandments underneath, 00:18:29.73\00:18:31.29 inside the ark of the covenant represent the fact that the 00:18:31.32\00:18:34.77 ten commandments are the foundation of God's throne, 00:18:34.80\00:18:38.86 the foundation of His government. 00:18:38.89\00:18:40.90 Now we need to take a look at something that happened 00:18:40.93\00:18:45.95 with this being, Lucifer. 00:18:45.98\00:18:49.05 Go with me to Ezekiel 28, and let's read verse 16, 00:18:49.08\00:18:53.42 Ezekiel 28:16. Something happened with this being. 00:18:53.45\00:18:59.47 It says there: 00:18:59.50\00:19:01.03 We'll come back to what means later. 00:19:04.64\00:19:07.88 You what? sinned! 00:19:17.20\00:19:21.22 Why did God cast this being out of heaven? 00:19:30.88\00:19:33.86 Because he what? Because he sinned. 00:19:33.89\00:19:37.74 The question is, what is sin? 00:19:37.77\00:19:40.51 Go with me to 1 John 3. 00:19:40.54\00:19:43.70 The Bible has a very clear definition. 00:19:43.73\00:19:45.95 1 John 3 and we will read, first of all verse 8, 1 John 3:8. 00:19:45.98\00:19:53.66 Here we are told, and the reason why we connect this verse 00:19:53.69\00:19:59.37 with Ezekiel 28 is because it's speaking about the same being. 00:19:59.40\00:20:05.17 Now notice verse 8. It says: 00:20:05.20\00:20:07.92 From Mount Sinai on. 00:20:15.01\00:20:16.88 What does the text say? It says: 00:20:20.47\00:20:23.60 So Jesus came to destroy sin, right, correct? 00:20:33.55\00:20:37.71 When did Satan sin? 00:20:37.74\00:20:40.51 He sinned from the beginning. 00:20:40.54\00:20:43.16 Where? In heaven. 00:20:43.19\00:20:45.14 Now what is sin? Go with me to verse 4. 00:20:45.17\00:20:48.03 I like the way the King James Version translates it. 00:21:00.70\00:21:03.44 It says sin is the transgression of the law. 00:21:03.47\00:21:07.97 In other words, sin is breaking God's holy law, 00:21:08.00\00:21:13.65 according to 1 John 3. 00:21:13.68\00:21:16.18 And the devil sinned from the beginning. 00:21:16.21\00:21:18.87 So let me ask you, did Satan, did Lucifer break 00:21:18.90\00:21:23.09 God's holy law? He must have! 00:21:23.12\00:21:26.27 And where was that law? 00:21:26.30\00:21:27.78 That law was in the ark of the covenant. 00:21:27.81\00:21:31.73 In fact we just noticed that the angels, you know they were on 00:21:31.76\00:21:35.55 either side of the ark, and they were looking down in reverence 00:21:35.58\00:21:39.21 towards the place where the glory of God was manifested. 00:21:39.24\00:21:42.07 Towards God's holy law. 00:21:42.10\00:21:44.45 In other words, this being came up with the preposterous idea 00:21:44.48\00:21:49.82 of breaking the very law of God, which was found 00:21:49.85\00:21:54.39 in the ark of the covenant. 00:21:54.42\00:21:56.79 And thus he sinned, and for this reason the Bible says that 00:21:56.82\00:22:02.75 God cast him out of heaven, and he came to this Earth. 00:22:02.78\00:22:07.71 Now we need to look at something that happened on this Earth. 00:22:07.74\00:22:11.89 Now that we know where this being originated, where he was. 00:22:11.92\00:22:16.20 He was created perfect. 00:22:16.23\00:22:17.45 By the way, he was created; he's not eternal. 00:22:17.48\00:22:20.10 He going to have an end, according to scripture, 00:22:20.13\00:22:22.73 because he was created by God. 00:22:22.76\00:22:24.44 Everything that God creates He can destroy if He wishes. 00:22:24.47\00:22:28.21 Now let's notice what happened when this being came 00:22:28.24\00:22:31.38 to this Earth. Go with me to Genesis 2:16, 17, 00:22:31.41\00:22:36.43 Genesis 2:16, 17. 00:22:36.46\00:22:40.48 Here we find a commandment given by God to Adam and Eve, 00:22:40.51\00:22:45.74 and it says there: And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, 00:22:45.77\00:22:51.94 Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat. 00:22:51.97\00:22:56.12 I like the fact that God gives a positive command first. 00:22:56.15\00:22:59.01 He says, You can eat of every tree of the garden. 00:22:59.04\00:23:01.70 Verse 17: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, 00:23:01.73\00:23:07.29 you shall not eat: for in the day that you eat of it 00:23:07.32\00:23:12.99 you shall surely die. 00:23:13.02\00:23:15.52 One command that God gave Adam and Eve. 00:23:15.55\00:23:18.39 Now listen to what I'm going to say. 00:23:18.42\00:23:20.13 In this one command were actually contained all of 00:23:20.16\00:23:24.15 the ten commandments. 00:23:24.18\00:23:25.21 You say, now how is that? 00:23:25.24\00:23:27.52 Well, let me take a look at some of them. 00:23:27.55\00:23:30.12 You know, I've gone through all of them, but I'm going to go 00:23:30.15\00:23:32.50 just through some of them, and I'm going to ask you 00:23:32.53\00:23:34.62 if when Adam and Eve ate from the tree, 00:23:34.65\00:23:37.17 they actually broke that commandment. 00:23:37.20\00:23:39.31 The first commandment says thou shalt have no other gods 00:23:39.34\00:23:42.07 before me. Did Adam and Eve break that commandment? 00:23:42.10\00:23:45.57 What did the serpent say to Eve? 00:23:45.60\00:23:48.67 You shall be like God. 00:23:48.70\00:23:52.17 So did she break that commandment? 00:23:52.20\00:23:54.13 Did Adam? Absolutely! 00:23:54.16\00:23:56.07 Let's take the third commandment. 00:23:56.10\00:23:59.74 What does the third commandment say? 00:23:59.77\00:24:02.24 You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. 00:24:02.27\00:24:06.42 You say, well, Eve didn't break that one. 00:24:06.45\00:24:08.43 She certainly did. Do you know in fact that she attributed 00:24:08.46\00:24:12.44 to God words that God had not spoken, bringing dishonor upon 00:24:12.47\00:24:17.53 the name of God, because she told the serpent, 00:24:17.56\00:24:20.53 God has told us that we should not eat of the tree, 00:24:20.56\00:24:24.33 or even touch it. The fact is God didn't tell them 00:24:24.36\00:24:28.49 that they couldn't touch it. 00:24:28.52\00:24:29.81 God told them that they couldn't eat, so she's bringing dishonor 00:24:29.84\00:24:34.17 to the name of God. 00:24:34.20\00:24:35.23 What about the commandment that says, 00:24:35.26\00:24:37.90 Honor your father and your mother? 00:24:37.93\00:24:39.59 Does that include honoring our Heavenly Father? Yes. 00:24:39.62\00:24:43.13 Did they break that one? Yes. 00:24:43.16\00:24:45.09 How about the commandment, Thou shalt not kill? 00:24:45.12\00:24:46.98 Did they break that one? 00:24:47.01\00:24:48.97 What came into the world as a result of what they did? 00:24:49.00\00:24:51.88 Death came into the world. 00:24:51.91\00:24:53.89 What about the commandment that says, 00:24:53.92\00:24:55.65 Thou shalt not commit adultery? 00:24:55.68\00:24:56.94 Spiritually, did they break that commandment? 00:24:56.97\00:24:59.94 They most certainly did, because their only love relationship was 00:24:59.97\00:25:03.74 to be between them and God. 00:25:03.77\00:25:05.02 Marriage is used as a symbol of the relationship between 00:25:05.05\00:25:08.88 God and His people, but when Eve listened to the serpent, 00:25:08.91\00:25:13.26 she, so to speak, spiritually adopted a different lover 00:25:13.29\00:25:17.73 than God. There's a commandment that says, Thou shalt not steal. 00:25:17.76\00:25:21.69 Did Eve steal? Yes, she took the fruit that did not belong 00:25:21.72\00:25:26.06 to her. There a commandment that says, Thou shalt not covet. 00:25:26.09\00:25:30.25 Did Eve covet? It says so in Genesis 3. 00:25:30.28\00:25:34.16 And so contained in this one command, in principle, were all 00:25:34.19\00:25:39.15 of the ten commandments. 00:25:39.18\00:25:40.72 Now the question is, what was the serpent trying 00:25:40.75\00:25:44.39 to get Adam and Eve to do? 00:25:44.42\00:25:46.58 Let's go to Genesis 3:4, 5, Genesis 3:4, 5. 00:25:46.61\00:25:55.20 In other words, God is lying. 00:26:00.56\00:26:02.52 We'll study this a little bit later on. 00:26:11.84\00:26:13.93 Do you know what the serpent is really telling the woman? 00:26:20.58\00:26:23.74 He's saying, listen you think that God has to define 00:26:23.77\00:26:26.85 what is good and what's evil? 00:26:26.88\00:26:28.43 You think that you just have to listen to God? 00:26:28.46\00:26:31.37 That it's okay to eat from all of the trees, but you can't eat 00:26:31.40\00:26:34.21 from this one because you're going to die? 00:26:34.24\00:26:35.77 He says, listen, you don't have to have God define what 00:26:35.80\00:26:38.74 is good and what is evil. 00:26:38.77\00:26:39.80 You can be God, and you can define that yourself. 00:26:40.78\00:26:45.19 You can know what is good and evil without God telling you 00:26:45.22\00:26:50.64 what is good and evil. 00:26:50.67\00:26:52.15 Are you understanding what I am saying? 00:26:52.18\00:26:53.34 What is the serpent trying to get Eve to do? 00:26:53.37\00:26:56.99 He is trying to get her to disobey God's commandment. 00:26:57.02\00:27:04.31 He is trying to get Eve to disobey God's law. 00:27:04.34\00:27:08.05 Is that exactly what happened to him in heaven? 00:27:08.08\00:27:12.93 Did he sin? Did he transgress God's law? 00:27:12.96\00:27:17.72 He most certainly did. 00:27:17.75\00:27:18.78 So now he comes to Earth and he says, I'm going to do 00:27:18.81\00:27:21.73 the same thing with the human race. 00:27:21.76\00:27:24.18 I'm going to get them to break God's commandment, God's law. 00:27:24.21\00:27:27.79 I'm going to get them to depend upon themselves, and in that way 00:27:27.82\00:27:32.66 they will have the same experience that I have. 00:27:32.69\00:27:36.99 They will be mine! They will be my slaves. 00:27:37.02\00:27:40.20 So what happened to him in heaven 00:27:40.23\00:27:42.51 is now happening on Earth as well. 00:27:42.54\00:27:47.05 By the way, the law is much deeper than what most people 00:27:47.08\00:27:55.89 realize. Let's go to the other passage that speaks about 00:27:55.92\00:28:01.28 the rebellion of this being, Lucifer, 00:28:01.31\00:28:04.22 and look at a deeper dimension of sin. 00:28:04.25\00:28:06.44 You see, sin isn't only breaking a code. 00:28:06.47\00:28:08.66 You know, some people look at the ten commandments just as a 00:28:08.69\00:28:12.38 bunch of rules written on tables of stone. 00:28:12.41\00:28:14.64 They say, okay, I'm not supposed to steal. 00:28:14.67\00:28:17.42 I'm not supposed to commit adultery. 00:28:17.45\00:28:19.24 I'm not supposed to kill. 00:28:19.27\00:28:20.30 I'm not supposed to bear false witness. 00:28:20.33\00:28:22.06 I'm not supposed to covet. 00:28:22.09\00:28:23.32 Okay, I'm going to try my best to obey the ten commandments, 00:28:23.35\00:28:26.48 and they can't, because in ourselves we can't, 00:28:26.51\00:28:34.62 because we have a sinful nature. 00:28:34.65\00:28:36.98 We'll be talking about that, by the way, in our next lecture. 00:28:37.01\00:28:40.37 What On Earth Is Happening is our next lecture. 00:28:40.40\00:28:42.85 We're going to be dealing with this issue of the observance 00:28:42.88\00:28:45.52 of God's Holy Law. Sin is deeper than breaking a code. 00:28:45.55\00:28:51.09 Sin is deeper than breaking a list of rules. 00:28:51.12\00:28:54.90 Now let's notice what the essence of sin is. 00:28:54.93\00:28:58.96 It is breaking the law, but there's something deeper than 00:28:58.99\00:29:02.65 just breaking the law. 00:29:02.68\00:29:03.71 Notice Isaiah 14:12-14. 00:29:03.74\00:29:07.04 Here it speaks about Lucifer and what happened to him. It says: 00:29:07.07\00:29:13.94 Now it's going to explain the reason why he was cast down. 00:29:28.12\00:29:30.60 And I'm going to underline one little word here. 00:29:32.83\00:29:35.41 I would say that Lucifer had an I problem. 00:30:02.71\00:30:05.11 And the I problem is called myopia. 00:30:05.14\00:30:10.57 He was near sighted. 00:30:10.60\00:30:12.80 He could only see himself. 00:30:12.83\00:30:15.15 In fact, do you know, that we're told, and we're not going 00:30:15.18\00:30:20.01 to read this now, but I'll just mention it. 00:30:20.04\00:30:22.88 We're told that Lucifer was created with four assets: 00:30:22.91\00:30:28.91 First of all he was created beautiful, with beauty. 00:30:28.94\00:30:35.41 Secondly, he was created full of wisdom; wise. 00:30:35.44\00:30:40.81 In the third place, he was created very rich. 00:30:40.84\00:30:45.23 You could find that in Ezekiel 28. 00:30:45.26\00:30:47.12 And in the fourth place, he was created to occupy a very 00:30:47.15\00:30:52.18 powerful position next to the throne of God. 00:30:52.21\00:30:55.34 And so Lucifer had beauty, wisdom, riches, and power. 00:30:55.37\00:31:02.01 But if you read Ezekiel 28, you'll discover that it says 00:31:02.04\00:31:07.11 that he was lifted up because of his beauty. 00:31:07.14\00:31:11.61 We're told that he corrupted his wisdom. 00:31:11.64\00:31:15.48 We are told that his heart was lifted up because of his riches. 00:31:15.51\00:31:19.89 And we are told in the passage that we just read that he said, 00:31:19.92\00:31:24.79 I will be like the Most High. 00:31:24.82\00:31:26.72 I'm not satisfied with being second fiddle. 00:31:26.75\00:31:30.05 I want to be first fiddle. 00:31:30.08\00:31:32.32 I want to be the main thing. 00:31:32.35\00:31:35.36 So really at the heart of breaking God's law is what? 00:31:35.39\00:31:42.18 self! That is the root of breaking God's holy law. 00:31:42.21\00:31:50.00 Now I'm going to mention some words, and I want you to give me 00:31:50.03\00:31:54.16 the antonym of these words. 00:31:54.19\00:31:56.09 Right: wrong. Wrong, good. 00:31:56.12\00:32:00.76 Good: evil. Come on, you just had supper. 00:32:00.79\00:32:05.07 You can do better than that! 00:32:05.11\00:32:06.49 White: black. Light: dark. 00:32:06.52\00:32:12.87 Love: hate. I knew you were going to say that. 00:32:12.91\00:32:17.22 The opposite of love is not hate. 00:32:20.10\00:32:23.50 The opposite of love is self. 00:32:23.53\00:32:27.28 Let's take a look at the ten commandments. 00:32:29.94\00:32:32.04 Go with me to Romans 13:8-10. 00:32:32.07\00:32:37.73 I always trick people with that one. 00:32:37.76\00:32:39.29 Don't feel bad. Romans 13:8-10. 00:32:39.32\00:32:43.37 I'll be you this is the second time I've tricked 00:32:43.40\00:32:45.05 some of you, too. 00:32:45.08\00:32:46.11 Romans 13:8-10. It says here, the Apostle Paul speaking: 00:32:46.14\00:32:53.96 Owe no one any thing, except to love one another: 00:32:53.99\00:33:01.68 for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. 00:33:01.71\00:33:06.66 Did you catch that? 00:33:06.69\00:33:10.13 Loving others is to what? To fulfill the law. 00:33:10.16\00:33:14.94 Somebody says, well, which law? 00:33:14.97\00:33:16.72 Verse 9: For the commandments, You shall not commit adultery, 00:33:16.75\00:33:20.54 You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not bear 00:33:20.57\00:33:25.75 false witness, You shall not covet; and if there is any other 00:33:25.78\00:33:30.85 commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, 00:33:30.88\00:33:34.55 You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 00:33:34.58\00:33:37.86 Love does no harm to a neighbor: therefore love is the 00:33:37.89\00:33:42.54 fulfillment of the law. 00:33:42.57\00:33:44.34 So Lucifer's attack was against God's love. 00:33:44.37\00:33:48.66 In attacking the law, he was attacking God's love. 00:33:48.69\00:33:54.46 Now what do I mean? 00:33:55.86\00:33:56.89 Can you really understand the ten commandments unless you 00:33:56.92\00:34:00.48 understand that the purpose of the ten commandments is to 00:34:00.51\00:34:03.38 protect relationships? 00:34:03.41\00:34:05.19 For example, honor your father and your mother. 00:34:07.20\00:34:12.82 Could you really keep that commandment 00:34:12.85\00:34:14.10 unless you had a father and a mother? Obviously not! 00:34:14.13\00:34:18.08 You shall not kill. 00:34:18.11\00:34:20.14 Could you keep that commandment if there wasn't someone to kill? 00:34:20.17\00:34:23.69 You shall not commit adultery. 00:34:25.81\00:34:27.11 Could you break that commandment if there wasn't someone else's 00:34:28.29\00:34:30.93 wife that you could commit adultery with? 00:34:30.96\00:34:33.32 You shall not steal. 00:34:33.35\00:34:35.57 Could you break that commandment if there wasn't someone 00:34:35.60\00:34:38.04 you could steal from? 00:34:38.07\00:34:39.10 You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. 00:34:41.07\00:34:43.39 Could you break that commandment unless you had a neighbor 00:34:43.42\00:34:45.17 to bear false witness against? 00:34:45.20\00:34:46.68 You shall not covet. 00:34:46.71\00:34:49.44 Could you covet if there wasn't something that belonged 00:34:49.47\00:34:52.34 to someone else that you could covet? 00:34:52.37\00:34:54.95 Obviously not. The purpose of the commandments is to protect 00:34:54.98\00:35:00.61 relationships. Let me ask you, the commandment 00:35:00.64\00:35:04.26 thou shall not commit adultery. 00:35:04.29\00:35:05.80 Does that protect human relationships? 00:35:05.83\00:35:07.60 Is it a good commandment? 00:35:07.63\00:35:09.53 How many of you believe that the commandment 00:35:09.56\00:35:10.86 thou shall not commit adultery is a good commandment? 00:35:10.89\00:35:12.71 Do you think that's a good commandment? 00:35:12.74\00:35:13.77 Don't think it was nailed to the cross, huh? 00:35:13.80\00:35:16.07 It's a good commandment. 00:35:17.38\00:35:18.85 How would you like to live in a world where everybody keeps 00:35:18.88\00:35:21.08 the ten commandments? 00:35:21.11\00:35:22.14 What kind of world would it be? 00:35:23.45\00:35:25.02 Ho ho, my lands! It would be wonderful! 00:35:25.05\00:35:28.03 You would have no death, no killing, everybody would respect 00:35:28.06\00:35:32.77 each other's wife. You could leave your doors open 00:35:32.80\00:35:35.50 day and night; no theft. 00:35:35.53\00:35:39.29 And, by the way, the first four commandments protect our 00:35:39.32\00:35:42.23 relationship with God; our loving relationship with God. 00:35:42.26\00:35:44.93 You see, if I love God, I'm not going to have other gods. 00:35:44.96\00:35:47.88 If I love God, I'm not going to worship a representation of God, 00:35:47.91\00:35:54.37 which lowers my image and view of Him. 00:35:54.40\00:35:58.37 If I love God, I'm going to respect His name. 00:35:58.40\00:36:02.07 If I love God I'm going to spend the time that He has set aside 00:36:02.10\00:36:07.23 for me to spend with Him, to enhance my 00:36:07.26\00:36:10.08 relationship with Him. 00:36:10.11\00:36:11.14 In other words, the purpose of the ten commandments is to 00:36:11.17\00:36:14.87 protect human relationships. 00:36:14.90\00:36:17.22 They define what love is. 00:36:17.25\00:36:20.79 So an attack on the ten commandments 00:36:20.82\00:36:22.98 is an attack on love. 00:36:23.01\00:36:24.30 Raise your hand if you're understanding what I'm saying. 00:36:24.33\00:36:27.87 To attack the commandments is to attack love. 00:36:27.90\00:36:30.40 And, by the way, when we break the ten commandments, 00:36:30.43\00:36:32.43 you break relationships. 00:36:32.46\00:36:33.49 When Adam and Eve sinned, they're hiding from God. 00:36:33.52\00:36:38.05 They've broken a relationship. 00:36:38.08\00:36:40.39 In fact Isaiah 59:2 says, Your iniquities have made separation 00:36:40.42\00:36:45.18 between Me and you. 00:36:45.21\00:36:46.72 And when Adam and Eve sinned, they broke their relationship. 00:36:46.75\00:36:50.59 Adam who, by the way, knew what he was doing when he sinned, 00:36:50.62\00:36:54.89 but he couldn't stand the idea of living without Eve. 00:36:54.92\00:36:57.15 His real sin was that he loved Eve more than he loved God. 00:36:57.18\00:37:02.61 He says to God, huh, this woman that You gave to be with me. 00:37:06.47\00:37:10.82 A little while before he's saying, oh, I can't stand 00:37:10.85\00:37:16.48 the idea of living without Eve, so I'm going to sin, too. 00:37:16.51\00:37:20.15 So now he's bickering with Eve, because when they broke God's 00:37:20.18\00:37:26.84 law, they broke their relationship, 00:37:26.87\00:37:29.68 their loving relationship, one with another. 00:37:29.71\00:37:34.03 Are you understanding the depths of sin? 00:37:34.06\00:37:36.27 And, by the way, sin, basically, is selfishness, 00:37:36.30\00:37:40.36 because selfishness is the opposite of love. 00:37:40.39\00:37:43.47 Do you believe that? 00:37:45.57\00:37:46.89 You know what? I have to do a lot of marriage counseling. 00:37:46.92\00:37:49.94 Do you know what the biggest problem is among couples? 00:37:49.97\00:37:55.05 Selfishness! He doesn't do what I want. 00:37:55.08\00:37:59.92 He doesn't go where I want to go. 00:37:59.95\00:38:02.09 He doesn't pay any attention to me. 00:38:02.12\00:38:04.45 He forgets my Anniversary. 00:38:04.48\00:38:06.91 And the same the other way around. 00:38:06.94\00:38:10.15 It's self! That's why we find in Isaiah 14 the word I 00:38:10.18\00:38:18.66 used six times by Lucifer; saying, I will be 00:38:18.69\00:38:23.61 like the Most High. 00:38:23.64\00:38:24.71 His attack was an attack on the love of God, 00:38:24.74\00:38:30.96 which was attacking the law of God. 00:38:30.99\00:38:34.48 But the law cannot be isolated from human relationships. 00:38:34.51\00:38:39.45 So whoever today tells you that the law was nailed to the cross; 00:38:39.48\00:38:42.70 that Christians don't have to keep the law; 00:38:42.73\00:38:45.19 what they're doing is they're attacking love, because love is 00:38:45.22\00:38:50.36 fulfilling the law. 00:38:50.39\00:38:51.52 Somebody says, well I only live by two now. 00:38:51.55\00:38:53.72 Jesus said love God and love your neighbor. 00:38:53.75\00:38:55.73 What does it mean to love you God? 00:38:59.01\00:39:00.35 It means you keep the first four. 00:39:00.38\00:39:02.46 What's the definition of loving your neighbor? 00:39:02.49\00:39:05.50 It's the last six. 00:39:05.53\00:39:07.46 The ten commandments simply amplify the two, 00:39:07.49\00:39:13.00 but they do not get rid of the two commandments. 00:39:13.03\00:39:15.94 Now the question is, how many in heaven followed Lucifer 00:39:15.97\00:39:23.43 in his rebellion? Go with me to the book of Revelation 12:4, 00:39:23.46\00:39:30.82 Revelation 12:4. Do you know that we live in a world filled 00:39:30.85\00:39:36.80 with demons? But do you know that for every demon there's two 00:39:36.83\00:39:43.19 of God's angels. Praise the Lord! 00:39:43.22\00:39:45.89 It's two against one! 00:39:45.92\00:39:47.07 Ha ha! And we have God on our side besides. 00:39:47.10\00:39:51.89 So don't worry about it. 00:39:51.92\00:39:53.45 Revelation 12:4, Revelation 12:4 Speaking about this dragon, 00:39:53.48\00:39:58.79 the ancient serpent. 00:39:58.82\00:39:59.85 It says: His tail. We'll talk about the tail in a moment. 00:39:59.88\00:40:02.36 So you'll find how many of the stars of heaven did he take 00:40:13.09\00:40:16.28 with him? A third of the stars. 00:40:16.31\00:40:18.87 What were those stars? 00:40:18.90\00:40:20.12 Go with me to Revelation 12:7. 00:40:20.15\00:40:23.26 And war broke out in heaven. 00:40:23.29\00:40:24.78 The stars represent what? Angels. 00:40:44.41\00:40:49.41 So a third of the angels were cast out with him. 00:40:49.44\00:40:52.90 And, by the way, when you realize that according to 00:40:52.93\00:40:55.45 Revelation 5:11, if you'll go with me there for a moment. 00:40:55.48\00:40:58.75 Revelation 5:11. The number of angels is practically 00:40:58.78\00:41:03.79 incalculable. You know that this world has lots of angels 00:41:03.82\00:41:10.09 involved in the battle between righteousness 00:41:10.12\00:41:13.14 and unrighteousness. 00:41:13.17\00:41:14.20 It says there in Revelation 5:11: 00:41:14.23\00:41:16.48 By the way, in the Greek there's no word for million, 00:41:29.73\00:41:32.14 and so it's calculated by multiplying thousands. 00:41:32.17\00:41:37.07 Ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands. 00:41:37.10\00:41:42.64 How could the devil get one third of the angels to follow 00:41:42.67\00:41:49.34 him in his rebellion? 00:41:49.37\00:41:50.48 Well, we need to take a look at this because this is very 00:41:50.51\00:41:54.36 important because the devil is doing the same thing on Earth 00:41:54.39\00:41:57.13 right now. If we know what he did in heaven, 00:41:57.16\00:42:00.22 we're going to know what he does on Earth, and we're going 00:42:00.25\00:42:03.98 to be able to protect ourselves from his power. 00:42:04.01\00:42:06.47 Let's go back to Ezekiel 28:16 and notice a very important word 00:42:06.50\00:42:12.88 here. We're going to see the strategy that the devil used 00:42:12.91\00:42:15.58 to deceive a third of the angelic host to follow him 00:42:15.61\00:42:19.81 in his rebellion. It says there in Ezekiel 28:16: 00:42:19.84\00:42:24.88 That's the word I want to underline. 00:42:29.43\00:42:31.65 What did he do? The abundance of his what? trading. 00:42:41.15\00:42:46.66 So the devil trades. The devil is a wheeler dealer. 00:42:46.69\00:42:52.28 The devil is a businessman. 00:42:54.80\00:42:56.35 The question is, what does he trade? 00:42:56.38\00:42:58.39 What does he try to sell? 00:42:58.42\00:42:59.65 Well, we need to look for this word other places in scripture. 00:42:59.68\00:43:04.68 It's the same root word, but it's translated differently. 00:43:04.72\00:43:09.00 It helps us understand what he did. 00:43:09.04\00:43:10.53 Go with me to Ezekiel 22:9, Ezekiel 22:9. 00:43:10.56\00:43:16.60 The very same root word. 00:43:16.63\00:43:18.35 You would never know it by the translation, but if you go to 00:43:20.27\00:43:23.04 Strong's Concordance you'll find that it's the same root word 00:43:23.07\00:43:26.80 in Hebrew. It says in verse 9: 00:43:26.83\00:43:29.70 That word, slander, is the same root word trading. 00:43:44.19\00:43:50.22 Isn't that interesting? 00:43:50.25\00:43:53.01 You can check me out in Strong's Concordance, if you wish. 00:43:53.04\00:43:56.81 And notice that it says, In you are men who slander to cause 00:43:56.84\00:44:01.96 bloodshed. Do you remember that we read in Ezekiel 28 00:44:01.99\00:44:05.81 that because of his trading he became filled with violence 00:44:05.84\00:44:09.45 within? So what was he trading? 00:44:09.48\00:44:13.80 He was actually trying to sell what? 00:44:13.83\00:44:16.58 He was trying to sell lies. 00:44:16.61\00:44:20.40 What do you say sometimes when somebody says something that 00:44:20.43\00:44:24.78 sounds pretty preposterous? 00:44:24.81\00:44:26.21 You say, I don't buy that. 00:44:26.24\00:44:30.33 We even use the expression today. 00:44:30.36\00:44:34.02 Oh, you can't sell me that one! 00:44:34.05\00:44:36.28 You see what he was trying to do was to sell his slanderous 00:44:36.31\00:44:42.63 accusations against God. 00:44:42.66\00:44:44.71 Notice also Leviticus 19 where the same root word is used. 00:44:44.74\00:44:50.00 Leviticus 19:16. We'll just read one verse. 00:44:50.03\00:44:55.91 Leviticus 19:16. God is saying to Israel: 00:44:55.94\00:45:02.94 The word talebearer there is the same root word that is used for 00:45:16.88\00:45:22.66 trading in Ezekiel 28. 00:45:22.69\00:45:24.63 So what did the devil do? 00:45:24.66\00:45:26.70 What did Lucifer do in heaven? 00:45:26.73\00:45:29.01 He started telling tails about whom? About God. 00:45:29.04\00:45:33.22 Do you know what he said? 00:45:33.25\00:45:34.84 He said, listen, we don't need God to be telling us what's 00:45:34.87\00:45:38.15 right and what's wrong; what we can do and what we can't do. 00:45:38.18\00:45:40.70 We're smart enough. We can decide that on our own. 00:45:40.73\00:45:45.16 You know, God is a slave master. 00:45:45.19\00:45:47.97 He wants us to render him blind service. 00:45:48.00\00:45:51.29 You can see this by the way in which the devil spoke to Eve 00:45:51.32\00:45:54.51 in the garden. He says, you know, you don't have to accept 00:45:54.54\00:45:58.35 what God says as the definition for good and evil. 00:45:58.38\00:46:00.74 He says, you can be God knowing good and evil. 00:46:00.77\00:46:05.12 By the way, he was telling Adam and Eve that God wanted them to 00:46:05.15\00:46:07.49 be blind, because he says, if you eat from the tree your eyes 00:46:07.52\00:46:09.86 are going to be opened. 00:46:09.89\00:46:10.92 God wants blind service. 00:46:10.95\00:46:12.98 He wants you just to obey without questions. 00:46:13.01\00:46:16.43 Well, you don't have to have God tell you what to do. 00:46:16.46\00:46:18.65 You're smart enough, and you're wise enough to decide that 00:46:18.68\00:46:22.32 on your own. So he's saying God is a dictator. 00:46:22.35\00:46:26.31 And a third of the angels bought his lies. 00:46:27.15\00:46:32.58 Now do you remember the tail? 00:46:32.61\00:46:34.54 It says the tail of the dragon drew a third of the stars? 00:46:34.58\00:46:40.11 Now what does a tail represent? 00:46:40.14\00:46:42.68 Go with me to the book of Isaiah 9:15, Isaiah 9:15. 00:46:42.71\00:46:49.98 Very clearly we're told what the tail is there. 00:46:50.01\00:46:53.63 It says here in Isaiah 9:15, The elder and honorable, 00:46:53.66\00:47:05.35 he is the head; the prophet who teaches lies, he is the tail. 00:47:05.38\00:47:13.43 What is the tail? The prophet who teaches what? lies. 00:47:13.46\00:47:19.95 How did the devil get a third of the stars of heaven to follow 00:47:19.98\00:47:23.94 him? By telling lies. 00:47:23.97\00:47:27.97 The tail is a prophet who tells lies. 00:47:28.00\00:47:32.21 And, by the way, there's an interesting phonetic 00:47:32.24\00:47:37.83 relationship between tail and to tell a tale. 00:47:37.86\00:47:42.28 There was the tail that draws a third of the angels 00:47:44.88\00:47:49.73 by telling tales about God. 00:47:49.76\00:47:53.36 And we know that because he came to the Earth, 00:47:53.39\00:47:55.98 and he did the same thing. Didn't he? 00:47:56.01\00:47:57.76 If you know what he did on Earth, you will know what he did 00:47:57.79\00:48:01.05 in heaven. We have Biblical examples of this as well. 00:48:01.08\00:48:03.87 It's very, very interesting. 00:48:03.90\00:48:05.81 You take, for example, the story of Absalom, the son of David. 00:48:05.84\00:48:09.60 David was the king. Absalom was his son. 00:48:09.63\00:48:13.86 And Absalom gets the preposterous idea that he needs 00:48:13.89\00:48:18.11 to be sitting on the throne instead of his father. 00:48:18.14\00:48:19.98 And so he sits at the gate of Jerusalem, and anybody who comes 00:48:20.01\00:48:25.83 to the king for judgment, to set things right, Absalom says, 00:48:25.86\00:48:31.98 don't even bother to go to the king. 00:48:32.01\00:48:33.26 He doesn't care about you. 00:48:33.29\00:48:34.32 But if you put me on the throne I would look out for you. 00:48:34.35\00:48:40.12 Same spirit of Lucifer in heaven! 00:48:40.15\00:48:45.92 He said to the angels, listen, if you put me on the throne 00:48:45.95\00:48:49.11 things will improve. 00:48:49.14\00:48:50.36 No loss! Everybody can live according to the law that comes 00:48:50.39\00:48:54.91 from within. I guess he was the first New Ager. 00:48:54.94\00:48:58.79 No dictators! Everybody will live to himself. 00:49:01.17\00:49:04.91 Same thing that the devil has done with human beings 00:49:04.94\00:49:08.55 on this Earth ever since. 00:49:08.58\00:49:11.14 John 8:44. We're told that Satan: 00:49:11.17\00:49:19.40 In other words, Satan is the father of lies, 00:49:24.97\00:49:29.83 according to scripture. 00:49:29.86\00:49:30.89 From the very beginning he lied about God. 00:49:30.92\00:49:34.47 And, by the way, it's no coincidence that Jesus came 00:49:34.50\00:49:37.98 to this Earth to reveal the truth. 00:49:38.01\00:49:42.01 Do you know that Jesus came to this world to counteract 00:49:43.44\00:49:45.61 the lies of Satan? Satan said, Ah, God only sits on the throne 00:49:45.64\00:49:49.71 and He has everybody serve Him and do what He says. 00:49:49.74\00:49:52.55 And when somebody doesn't do what He says, He makes them sick 00:49:52.58\00:49:57.05 and He casts them out of heaven, and He mistreats them, 00:49:57.08\00:49:59.12 and He beats them up. 00:49:59.15\00:50:01.87 Jesus comes down to the Earth and He leaves His throne 00:50:01.90\00:50:04.83 in heaven. He who had the power of God now becomes a servant. 00:50:04.86\00:50:09.87 The Jews believed that God made people sick. 00:50:12.54\00:50:15.11 Why is that man blind? 00:50:15.14\00:50:16.83 Who sinned, his parents or did he? 00:50:16.86\00:50:18.83 Why does that man happen to have leprosy? 00:50:18.86\00:50:21.77 Oh, because it's the finger of God. 00:50:21.80\00:50:24.83 They believed that God made people sick. 00:50:24.86\00:50:28.00 Jesus came to the Earth and now He heals people. 00:50:28.03\00:50:32.50 He casts out demons. 00:50:32.53\00:50:34.98 He restores people. And the devil hated Him because Jesus 00:50:35.01\00:50:39.78 was showing what God is really like; 00:50:39.81\00:50:44.06 that God loves human beings. 00:50:44.09\00:50:46.59 That Tsunami; that wasn't any more an act of God 00:50:46.62\00:50:50.85 than the man in the moon exists. 00:50:50.88\00:50:56.64 I mean, how can you conceive that God caused that Tsunami 00:50:56.67\00:51:00.54 to kill over a quarter of a million people? 00:51:00.57\00:51:03.14 The book of Job tells us that this is the work of Satan. 00:51:03.17\00:51:06.80 It is not the work of God. 00:51:06.83\00:51:10.06 Yes, God withdraws His hand and allows it, but God does not 00:51:10.10\00:51:14.03 cause these things. Now the question is, is the devil 00:51:14.06\00:51:18.79 ever going to have an end? 00:51:18.82\00:51:20.06 Do you know where he got his death blow? 00:51:20.09\00:51:23.52 He got his death blow on the head. 00:51:23.55\00:51:26.02 He will crush your head, and you will bruise his heel. 00:51:28.08\00:51:34.82 But you know, when his head was whacked by Christ, 00:51:34.85\00:51:39.56 the devil still exists. 00:51:39.59\00:51:41.58 In one of our future lectures we're going to study about the 00:51:41.61\00:51:45.62 conflict between David and Goliath. 00:51:45.65\00:51:47.87 That story has to be seen in the light of Genesis 3:15. 00:51:47.90\00:51:51.64 You know, David, he swung his sling, threw the stone, 00:51:51.67\00:51:58.18 the stone encrusted itself in his forehead, and he fell to the 00:51:58.21\00:52:04.03 ground, but he wasn't dead. 00:52:04.06\00:52:05.09 He was almost dead. 00:52:07.87\00:52:08.97 He had received the death blow on his head, but the Bible says 00:52:09.00\00:52:13.84 that David went and with his own sword, he took out the sword 00:52:13.87\00:52:18.03 and he cut off his head. 00:52:18.06\00:52:19.89 The devil has been wounded with this stone. 00:52:19.92\00:52:23.30 What only remains is for his head to be chopped off. 00:52:23.33\00:52:30.62 And that will happen after the millennium, which we will study 00:52:30.65\00:52:36.24 in this seminar. Revelation 20 refers to that. 00:52:36.27\00:52:40.92 Notice Ezekiel 28:18, 19, speaking about the end 00:52:40.95\00:52:47.60 of this being. Praise the Lord that he is going to 00:52:47.63\00:52:49.57 come to an end. Meanwhile we have to battle with him. 00:52:49.60\00:52:52.91 We have to put up with his lies, but we don't have to give in 00:52:52.94\00:52:57.69 to his lies. When the devil tells us to break God's law, 00:52:57.73\00:53:01.35 we don't have to break God's law, because we know what 00:53:01.38\00:53:05.30 he's up to. Now notice Ezekiel 28:18, 19. 00:53:05.33\00:53:11.03 It says: You defiled your sanctuaries by the multitude of 00:53:11.06\00:53:15.11 your iniquities. By the iniquity of your trading. 00:53:15.14\00:53:18.35 There's the word again. 00:53:18.38\00:53:19.41 Notice he's going to be reduced to ashes. 00:53:27.95\00:53:30.99 Is that good news? That's great news! 00:53:44.14\00:53:47.86 It's coming soon. Now allow me to conclude by saying this: 00:53:47.89\00:53:54.73 In this world there are only two groups, not three. 00:53:54.76\00:54:02.46 There's not the good, the bad, and the half bad: 00:54:02.49\00:54:06.30 those that are going to heaven, to hell, and to purgatory. 00:54:06.33\00:54:10.28 In the world there are two groups: the seed of the serpent, 00:54:12.74\00:54:17.59 and the seed of the woman's seed. 00:54:17.62\00:54:21.81 The Seed is Christ, but Christ has seed. 00:54:21.84\00:54:24.99 If you are Christ's you are His seed. 00:54:25.02\00:54:26.88 So there's only two groups in the world. 00:54:26.91\00:54:29.95 Now let me ask you, what is it that characterizes both groups? 00:54:29.98\00:54:34.61 Go with me to 1 John 3:10, 1 John 3:10. 00:54:34.64\00:54:41.58 And actually we'll read several verses from 1 John, 00:54:41.61\00:54:46.16 as we bring this to a close. 00:54:46.19\00:54:47.74 1 John 3:10. We find the two groups mentioned and what 00:54:47.77\00:54:53.72 characterizes the two groups. It says there: 00:54:53.75\00:54:57.02 In this way you can know who a child of God is, 00:55:08.98\00:55:10.98 and who a child of the devil is. 00:55:11.01\00:55:12.58 Notice what the characteristics are. 00:55:12.61\00:55:15.94 What is righteousness? 00:55:22.52\00:55:23.60 If sin is transgression of the law, what is righteousness? 00:55:23.63\00:55:27.62 It is obeying God's law; not because we can do it, 00:55:27.65\00:55:31.82 but because we love God, and He empowers us. 00:55:31.85\00:55:34.40 You need to come to the next lecture. 00:55:34.43\00:55:36.39 We're going to talk about the law of God, 00:55:36.43\00:55:38.35 and how it is possible to overcome; 00:55:38.39\00:55:40.86 not in ourselves, but in His power because we love Him. 00:55:40.89\00:55:43.64 And so it continues saying there, in 1 John 3:10: 00:55:43.67\00:55:48.00 In this the children of God, and the children of the devil 00:55:48.03\00:55:51.01 are manifest. Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of 00:55:51.04\00:55:56.35 God nor is he who does not love his neighbor. 00:55:56.38\00:56:01.64 And what is keeping the commandment? 00:56:03.41\00:56:05.60 It is what? love. 00:56:05.64\00:56:10.18 Now go with me to two passages in closing: 1 John 2, 00:56:10.21\00:56:19.20 1 John 2:3, 4. Now by this we know that we know him: 00:56:19.23\00:56:28.18 If we keep his commandments. 00:56:28.22\00:56:32.80 He who says I know him and does not keep his commandment 00:56:32.84\00:56:37.93 is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 00:56:37.96\00:56:41.60 Hello! Who was the first liar, and the truth was not in him? 00:56:43.04\00:56:46.42 John 8:44. Who was it? Satan. 00:56:46.46\00:56:49.90 So whoever says, I know him and does not keep 00:56:49.94\00:56:52.95 his commandments; whose seed is he? 00:56:52.98\00:56:55.11 Satan's seed. It says so here. 00:56:55.15\00:56:58.37 Now let's notice one more text. 00:56:58.40\00:57:01.55 1 John 5, very quickly, and verse 3. 00:57:01.59\00:57:05.97 For this is the love of God that we keep his commandments. 00:57:06.00\00:57:12.45 And his commandments are not burdensome. 00:57:12.48\00:57:19.00 Because some people say, oh, that old law. 00:57:19.03\00:57:21.52 That's such a hard thing to keep. 00:57:21.55\00:57:23.15 It's such a burden. 00:57:23.19\00:57:24.22 Don't believe it. 00:57:24.25\00:57:25.28
