This is not about storms,

this is not about thunderstorms.

This is about a
spiritual, gradual shaking that

has happened and occurred
00:08:38.21\00:08:39.55
over a period of time
in the nation of Israel.
00:08:39.58\00:08:42.08
And the purpose of
this message this morning,
00:08:42.12\00:08:44.65
is to take a look at
the role that Israel plays
00:08:44.69\00:08:48.59
in the last days
in Bible prophecy.
00:08:48.62\00:08:51.43
And some people might say,
00:08:51.46\00:08:52.89
what in the world does
Israel have to do with me?
00:08:52.93\00:08:55.00
And why in the
world is this relevant
00:08:55.03\00:08:56.36
to be able to know this?
00:08:56.40\00:08:57.73
Well, I don't know at this
time that this is being recorded

over the past couple of weeks,
you know, we have been seeing
00:09:01.30\00:09:04.81
in the news more
and more this conflict
00:09:04.84\00:09:07.74
between that
little 25 mile strip
00:09:07.78\00:09:10.71
on the south eastern portion
of Israel known as Gaza, Gaza,
00:09:10.75\00:09:15.32
and you know, of
course, the nation of Israel
00:09:15.35\00:09:17.22
and Jerusalem and all
that, they have been warring
00:09:17.25\00:09:19.19
and kind of
fighting with each other.
00:09:19.22\00:09:20.59
Of course, this is nothing new.
00:09:20.62\00:09:22.39
This is something
that's happened off and on
00:09:22.42\00:09:24.36
over the past few years,
two or three different times.
00:09:24.39\00:09:27.00
You just kind of expect
it because it's, you know,
00:09:27.03\00:09:28.93
while it's supposed to
be known as the Holy Land
00:09:28.96\00:09:30.90
or the Land of Peace,
00:09:30.93\00:09:32.30
there's not much peace
that happens over there.
00:09:32.33\00:09:34.80
And, but actually
00:09:34.84\00:09:36.17
that can be a
spiritual object lesson
00:09:36.20\00:09:37.61
even to us because oftentimes,
00:09:37.64\00:09:39.74
as just Paul says in his word
in 1 Corinthians, excuse me,

1 Thessalonians Chapter 5,
00:09:42.34\00:09:44.38
he says, "For when
they say peace and safety,
00:09:44.41\00:09:46.72
then sudden
destruction comes upon them
00:09:46.75\00:09:48.48
as labor pains
upon a pregnant woman,
00:09:48.52\00:09:50.42
and they shall not escape."
00:09:50.45\00:09:52.55
You know, we also
have a spiritual warfare
00:09:52.59\00:09:54.79
that's happening in
our hearts and minds.
00:09:54.82\00:09:56.76
And I think
there's some lessons that
00:09:56.79\00:09:58.13
we can learn from
this message today.
00:09:58.16\00:10:00.53
I have seen
00:10:00.56\00:10:01.90
just in the past
couple of weeks since this,

this is real, you know,
00:10:04.50\00:10:06.00
battle warfare
has been going on.
00:10:06.03\00:10:08.30
More and more people
on my Facebook account,
00:10:08.34\00:10:10.81
social media account.
00:10:10.84\00:10:12.21
And I'm hearing kind
of some chatter around
00:10:12.24\00:10:14.18
from different Christians
from different denominations.
00:10:14.21\00:10:16.75
And they're
saying, "Oh, you know,
00:10:16.78\00:10:18.11
well, there's war
happening over in Israel.
00:10:18.15\00:10:20.45
Well, that must mean that
we're living in the end times,
00:10:20.48\00:10:23.22
or that the end is approaching."
00:10:23.25\00:10:25.49
And then they
have this idea that,
00:10:25.52\00:10:27.12
of course, the
Antichrist is coming,
00:10:27.16\00:10:30.43
and that he's
going to show up soon.
00:10:30.46\00:10:32.53
And, of course, the
temple is going to be
00:10:32.56\00:10:34.10
rebuilt in Jerusalem,
00:10:34.13\00:10:35.53
and the apostate
Antichrist figure
00:10:35.56\00:10:37.70
is going to sit in the temple,
00:10:37.73\00:10:39.10
and there's
going to be, you know,
00:10:39.13\00:10:40.47
it's going to
usher in, you know,
00:10:40.50\00:10:41.84
and set us up for the
secret silent rapture,

and then there's going to be
00:10:43.84\00:10:45.17
seven horrible
years of tribulation.
00:10:45.21\00:10:46.71
And then at the end

of the seven
years of tribulation,

Jesus is going to come back

a second time at
His second coming.

And, you know,
you might have known

it as the
pre-tribulation rapture theory.

Many, many Christians
are chattering about that,

and I'm seeing it
on my social media.

And I thought to
myself, you know,

what better time
00:11:02.26\00:11:03.59
than to bring up
the truth of the matter.

Does Israel play a major role?

Because again, many, many, many,
00:11:08.56\00:11:09.90
I would say
probably more than 90%
00:11:09.93\00:11:12.47
of the Christian denominations
00:11:12.50\00:11:14.44
out there are
looking over the seat,
00:11:14.47\00:11:17.54
their attention is affixed
on what's happening in Israel.
00:11:17.57\00:11:20.78
And they think that
00:11:20.81\00:11:22.14
all of the final
events of prophecy
00:11:22.18\00:11:24.18
are surrounding the events
00:11:24.21\00:11:25.71
and what occurs in the
Holy Land or in Israel.

And so we want to
put that to the test.

Because with how
this is relevant to us,

as we need to make
sure that we understand

what the Bible actually teaches,

should we be paying attention
to the nation of Israel?

Should we be putting resources
and our money and our finances

and all of that into
the nation of Israel?

entire television networks

dedicated to,

you know, supporting
and sowing financial seeds

to Israel, right?
00:11:53.54\00:11:54.98
I mean, this
happens all the time,
00:11:55.01\00:11:56.41
you can turn and
flip through those,
00:11:56.44\00:11:58.11
you know, those
religious channels,
00:11:58.15\00:11:59.71
and you can see it,
00:11:59.75\00:12:01.08
entire networks
dedicated to this.

And so what we want to do
is we want to go to the Bible

and say, okay, Lord,
if this is the truth,
00:12:05.05\00:12:06.55
and I want to believe it,
00:12:06.59\00:12:07.92
but if it's not the truth,
I'm going to toss it away.

And I'm going to
believe what the Bible says.

And so let's go to
the Bible right now.

How we're going to do
this is I'm going to take you

on a nice little
gentle roller coaster journey

through the Old Testament
through the history of Israel.

And we're going to lead
it up into today's time,

and we're going
to ask the question,
00:12:28.04\00:12:29.38
what does this story tell us?
00:12:29.41\00:12:30.95
And what can we know as
what the Bible reveals to us

about the role that
Israel plays in Bible prophecy?

Exodus Chapter 19
is where our journey
00:12:36.92\00:12:39.99
is going to begin this morning.
00:12:40.02\00:12:42.16
And let's just set
the setting real clear,
00:12:42.19\00:12:44.66
we're at the base
of Mount Sinai, okay,
00:12:44.69\00:12:47.03
around about 1446
BC, so about 1400 years
00:12:47.06\00:12:52.40
or so before Jesus
Christ is even born.
00:12:52.43\00:12:55.10
And the children of Israel
00:12:55.14\00:12:56.47
have come out of
the land of Egypt.
00:12:56.50\00:12:57.84
God has used
Moses to bring them out.
00:12:57.87\00:12:59.97
Now they find
themselves at Mount Sinai.
00:13:00.01\00:13:02.78
And this is what we
find Exodus Chapter 19.

I'm going to start with verse 1.
00:13:04.98\00:13:07.12
Notice what the Bible says.
00:13:07.15\00:13:08.85
It says, "In the third month,
when the children of Israel
00:13:08.88\00:13:11.39
were gone forth out
of the land of Egypt,
00:13:11.42\00:13:14.12
the same day they came
00:13:14.16\00:13:15.76
into the wilderness of Sinai.
00:13:15.79\00:13:17.99
For they were
departed from Rephidim,
00:13:18.03\00:13:19.66
and were come to
the desert of Sinai,
00:13:19.69\00:13:22.10
and had pitched
in the wilderness,
00:13:22.13\00:13:24.13
and there Israel
camped before the mount."
00:13:24.17\00:13:27.77
So get this idea in your
mind, all of these tents,

and you could imagine
00:13:30.14\00:13:31.47
they've all camped
out at the round base,
00:13:31.51\00:13:33.07
they round the base
of Mount Sinai there.
00:13:33.11\00:13:35.28
And now Moses is
about to go up the mountain,

and he's about to
have a personal encounter
00:13:38.55\00:13:40.42
with the Lord.
00:13:40.45\00:13:41.78
And the Lord is
going to give him
00:13:41.82\00:13:43.15
a specific message to go deliver

to these now people
00:13:45.05\00:13:46.39
that He wants
to call His people,
00:13:46.42\00:13:48.02
the nation of Israel.
00:13:48.06\00:13:49.42
And so here it is, Exodus 19:3,
00:13:49.46\00:13:53.03
it says, "And Moses went
up unto God, and the Lord
00:13:53.06\00:13:55.56
called unto him
out of the mountain,
00:13:55.60\00:13:57.40
saying, thus shalt thou
say unto the house of Jacob,
00:13:57.43\00:14:01.90
and tell the
children of Israel."
00:14:01.94\00:14:04.71
Here it is, this is what we call
00:14:04.74\00:14:06.88
a part of the great covenant
00:14:06.91\00:14:08.98
that God makes with
the people of Israel.
00:14:09.01\00:14:11.51
Verse 4, he says, "Ye have seen
00:14:11.55\00:14:14.32
what I did unto the Egyptians,
00:14:14.35\00:14:17.79
and how I bare
you on eagles' wings,
00:14:17.82\00:14:20.69
and brought you unto myself.
00:14:20.72\00:14:23.09
Now therefore,"
what's that next word?
00:14:23.12\00:14:26.80
If, say that with me,
00:14:26.83\00:14:29.30
if, okay, you can't
say it enough, it makes,

this is kind of the clear,
well, let's say one more time,

if, okay, "If you
will obey my voice indeed,

and keep my covenant,

then ye shall be
a peculiar treasure

unto me above all people:
for all the earth is mine.

And ye shall be unto
me a kingdom of priests

and a holy nation.

These are the words
which thou shalt speak

And so now Moses
takes that message

and he's going to walk
back down that mountain,

and he's going to go deliver
it to the camp of Israel.

Here it is.

In verse 7, it
says, "And Moses came

and called for the
elders of the people,

and laid before
their faces all these words

which the Lord commanded him.

And all the people
answered together..."

What was their response?
00:15:13.24\00:15:14.78
It says, "All that the
Lord hath spoken we will do.

And Moses returned the words
of the people unto the Lord."

Okay, so God
makes this covenant.

He says, if you're
going to be My people.

And let's say that word
one more time very clearly,

so we understand that
this covenant agreement

was based on conditions.

It wasn't this
everlasting, you know,

just whatever happens, it
doesn't matter what happens,

you're still going to be
My people kind of agreement.

It was very conditional.

If, if you keep My covenant,
if you keep My covenant,

and obey My
commands, and obey My voice,

a peculiar people,

treasure and a special,

special royal nation

above all other
peoples upon the nation.

That was the stipulation,
those were the conditions.

Well, yet it's
very interesting to me,

that we live in a world today
where more and more and more

Christians today have this
idea that there's nothing that

Israel has ever done,
00:16:09.36\00:16:11.03
or could ever do
against the plan,
00:16:11.07\00:16:13.87
or the will of
God, they automatically

Israel was only to
become and remain God's people,

'cause the God being the

He would be able to say,

while God still loves them,

has many, many special,

wonderful, dedicated
people in that nation,

as a nation, I'm

They are no longer as a
nation, God's chosen people.

you who that people is,

break up and get back together,

together kind of relationship,

not because God
wanted it to be that way,

but because Israel kept
turning away from the Lord.

They when they would get
in trouble and fall into,

you know, fall into the
hands of another nation,

then they want to call
out to the Lord and say,

have compassion on them.

to be our King anymore.

We want a man to rule us

just like all of the
other heathen nations around us.

they have rejected
you, they've rejected me

and you can see that
downward spiritual decline

from that point forward

until eventually
that powerful nation

that was once
known as United Israel

became divided into
two different kingdoms.

against itself
cannot and will not stand.

But what did they do?

It says, "They mocked
the messengers of God,

and misused his prophets,

until the wrath of the Lord

arose against his people,

till there was no more remedy."

That's powerful
to think of this.

This is how serious this was.

Let me paint
you a clear picture.

When God called upon His people,

even after they were down

yeah, there was some people
that were slaying that were

just straight
rebellious that day.

I think it was somewhere

around 24,000
people died that day,

because they refused to
be on the side of the Lord.

But God still had
compassion on the rest,

who were willing to
say, Lord, please forgive me.

And they came to the
side of the tribe of Levi.

So with what was
remained and leftover, God said,

that this relationship

ultimate apostasy of all,

and this tabernacle,

and he sees men

you know, toward the sanctuary

facing the east of the
sun, worshiping the sun.

So much that by the

years of captivity,

And before Daniel can

Notice what the Lord
said to the children of Israel

as they were
preparing to go back

and rebuild this temple?

This is what He said.

It says, "For thus
saith the Lord of hosts,

yet once, it is a little while,
and I will shake the heavens,

and the earth, and the
sea, and the dry land."

And the question is, Lord,

to shake the world?

This is a messianic prophecy.

70 years before this,

Nebuchadnezzar when he ransacked

and destroyed the
temple, he took all the silver,

he took all the gold, he
took all the holy utensils,

and the Lord said,

you know what all
of that stuff was mine.

So he reminds us right here,
He says, the silver is mine,

and the gold is mine
says the Lord of hosts,

"The glory of this latter house

shall be
greater than the former,

saith the Lord of
hosts: and in this place,

I will give peace,
says the Lord of hosts."

And what's
interesting is right now today,

you can take a
plane, go over to Israel,

and you can bring yourself

among the Orthodox Jewish people

who still claim to be

the number one
true faith in the world,

who serve Yahweh,
who serve Jehovah,

the God of the Old Testament.

And they read this
prophecy in Haggai Chapter 2,

you know what they do?
00:31:17.34\00:31:18.67
They scratch
their head, and they go,

we still don't
understand that one.
00:31:20.08\00:31:23.11
Because when this
next temple was built, see,

this was the
very temple known as,
00:31:25.38\00:31:26.82
would become
known as Herod's temple,
00:31:26.85\00:31:28.42
even though it was supposed
to be the temple of the Lord,
00:31:28.45\00:31:31.02
became known as Herod's temple.
00:31:31.05\00:31:32.39
This would be the very temple
that Jesus would walk into.

And when it says here,
that the glory of this house
00:31:36.76\00:31:39.13
shall be
greater than the former.
00:31:39.16\00:31:40.60
You see, they were confused,
00:31:40.63\00:31:41.96
because when they're
thinking of Solomon's temple,

and all of its grander,
and all of its amazement,
00:31:44.00\00:31:46.63
and all of this splendor,
00:31:46.67\00:31:48.20
they're thinking of
how God filled that temple
00:31:48.24\00:31:50.37
with the glory, with His glory.
00:31:50.41\00:31:51.94
And it was magnificent.

It was a sight that no
one could possibly behold.

But that never
happened in the same manner
00:31:55.74\00:31:57.91
in Herod's temple as it happened
00:31:57.95\00:31:59.71
in Solomon's temple.

And so they look
at this and they go,

well, this one
doesn't make much sense.

Of course, it makes sense.

Because God in the flesh came

and stood this far
from the children of Israel.

The glory of the
Lord filled the temple,

and He was
greater than the farmer.

But guess what?

They couldn't perceive it,

because they
weren't ready for it.

spiritually ready for it.

And so what's
interesting is this, God says,

I'm going to give
you a second chance.

The glory of the Lord is
going to fill this temple.

I'm going to give My people
a probationary time period

to get their act together.

We know this to be
the 70 weeks of prophecy.

But here's what's
interesting, get this.

Over in Israel
still to this day,

the governing laws
that that govern Israel,

the highest, the
highest spiritual law

is what is known
as the Talmudic law,

"Seventy weeks are
determined for your people

and for your holy city,"

and here's the six things,

"to finish the transgression,
and to make an end of sins,

to make
reconciliation for iniquity,

to bring in
everlasting righteousness,

to seal a vision and prophecy,
and to anoint the Most Holy."

Six things right
there, but you know

what all of
these have in common?

You see, this is what the hope,
00:35:13.04\00:35:14.38
the people of
God were to achieve.

They were to allow this
to have occurred by the time
00:35:15.78\00:35:18.58
that the 70 weeks
prophecy had ended.
00:35:18.61\00:35:20.98
But here's what's interesting,
the people can't do this.

There's only one person
00:35:26.02\00:35:27.36
who can accomplish
00:35:27.39\00:35:28.72
all these six individual things.

The only person who can
bring an end to transgression,

make an end of sin,

bring
reconciliation for iniquity,

everlasting righteousness,
vision and prophecy,

and to anoint the most holy,

there's only one
person who can do that.

And that's Jesus Christ.

They had to
receive Jesus as Messiah

for all of
these things to occur.

And so did that happen?

Jesus shows up in
27 AD. You know what?

God couldn't have
made it any simpler,

because He sends
John the Baptist,

the Bible says, he was
full of the Holy Spirit

from the womb.

This brother shows up
and he's baptizing people

left and right for
the remission of sins.

And then one day,
the Lamb of God shows up

and He stops his work,
00:36:08.70\00:36:10.13
you can imagine the
scene, He stops his work.

I'm sure his eyes
got that big around.

And he pointed and he
said, "Behold, the Lamb of God,

who has come to
take the sin away

from the world."

I'm sure there were people

there amongst
them that did agree.

They said, whoa, wow.
00:36:27.22\00:36:28.55
But you know,
the majority of them

didn't have a clue.

Didn't even have a clue.

Couldn't even
perceive. You know why?

'Cause they weren't
studying the prophecies,

because they weren't
studying the Word of God

for themselves.

They had not studied to
show themselves approved.

And here, the
Son of the living God

is standing before them.

The person who
needed them together

in their mother's womb,
was standing in their presence.

The person who nearly 4000 years

prior to this
spoke simple words,

and the
mountains, and the season,

the birds and the
fish and everything else

just started popping into place,

just as a painter would
be painting on a canvas,

Jesus spoke and the
world came into place,

powerful, powerful.
00:37:19.17\00:37:21.60
But these people
couldn't perceive,
00:37:21.64\00:37:26.11
so that even
when He was baptized,
00:37:26.14\00:37:30.28
and the Father's
voice came from heaven,

"This is My beloved Son,
in whom I am well pleased."
00:37:32.61\00:37:37.52
A small, few of them
probably shook in their boots,
00:37:37.55\00:37:41.39
when they heard
that powerful voice,
00:37:41.42\00:37:43.09
when the rest of
them couldn't perceive it.

During this same time,
00:37:48.23\00:37:49.76
and leading up
to this same time,

God had sent
additional messengers

to prepare the people
for the way of the Lord.

Let me just
mention a few, Haggai.

We talked about him earlier.

Zechariah, Zerubbabel,
Ezra, Nehemiah, Malachi,

John the Baptist.
00:38:05.11\00:38:06.65
Every single one
of these messengers,
00:38:06.68\00:38:08.62
just as He sent
additional messengers
00:38:08.65\00:38:10.59
to Israel in the
days of their apostasy.
00:38:10.62\00:38:12.75
These brothers and sisters
00:38:12.79\00:38:14.12
are blind to
their own condition.
00:38:14.16\00:38:15.49
And God said, Look,
I need to wake them up.
00:38:15.52\00:38:16.86
I'm going to send
them some more messengers

to shake them
up, to wake them up.

But where they
prepared? They were not.

So that we come to that last

and final week of
the 70 weeks prophecy.

Jesus has been anointed
as Messiah, His baptism.

He spends three and
a half years preaching

and teaching to
these brothers and sisters,

trying to wake them up,
00:38:34.34\00:38:36.31
preaching the kingdom of God,

and the repenting,
the repenting of sins.

That's why Daniel
9:26 eventually says,

"And after 62 weeks,
00:38:45.95\00:38:48.06
Messiah shall be cut
off, but not for himself."

You see what was
one of the six things
00:38:52.53\00:38:54.66
that they had to do?

And what's the Most Holy?
00:38:56.40\00:39:00.27
You know what Messiah means?

Means the anointed one.

When was Jesus anointed?

At His baptism in 27 AD.

Now three and a
half years have went by,

this brother has been preaching,

raising the
dead, healing the sick,

calming the storms,
doing all these powerful signs.

I mean, I don't
know, what else you got.

I mean, telling
people their past,

present and future.

I don't know what
else this brother,

what else Jesus
could have done to say,

hey, look, He
even told them in Word.

He says it's me.

I am the one that the
Bible the prophet speak of.

I am, He even told him
before Abraham was I am.

Do you not know who
I am? I am the I Am.

He told them very clearly

and multiple times
they would reach down

to pick up stones
to try to murder Him.

But His time was not
yet, but it was coming.

That's why Daniel 9:27
says, and he speaking of Jesus,

and my goodness, please help me

this is where a lot of
people misunderstand the state,

end time events
pertaining to Israel,
00:39:58.13\00:40:00.33
because a lot of people

take that last
week of the 70th weeks
00:40:01.73\00:40:03.60
and they detach it,
00:40:03.63\00:40:05.03
and they shove it way
down at the end of time.
00:40:05.07\00:40:07.44
And they give
credit to this last week
00:40:07.47\00:40:09.84
of this powerful
prophecy to some Antichrist.

Lord, have mercy on us.

When it says, "He shall confirm

the covenant with
many for one week."

Let me tell you
something, my friends,

only Jesus Christ
can confirm a covenant,

no Antichrist

and no created man could
ever confirm any covenant.

many for one week."

But here's the thing.

of that final week,

it says, he shall
cause the sacrifice

and oblation to cease."

Did He?

There came that day...

Where they would
take the Son of God.

They beat Him,

spit on Him, smack Him around,

and hang Him stark
naked on top of cross

on Golgotha's Hill.

And even after all that

they've done to
Him, He hangs there.

And He utters the
words that still to this day,

will make the largest
skeptic shake in his boots.

When He said,
"Father, forgive them,

for they know not what they do."

But why do they know
not what they're doing?

Because they have not studied

to show themselves approved.

They do not have the spiritual
discernment to understand why?

Because they're not
being led by the Spirit of God.

And Jesus would
take His final breath

after uttering the
words, it is finished.

And He would bow His
head and give up His life.

And at that very moment,

a trimmer would
strike the ground

and shake the land so
hard that in the very temple

that Jesus had
walked into a week before,

that veil would tear
from top to the bottom.

writings of Josephus,

historian of that time.

And he describes it

in great detail
on that very day.

He says as Jesus gave His
life at top of Golgotha's Hill.

Caiaphas, the high priest
had the lamb laid out there

with the knife raised and
was about to bring it down

because it was Passover.

But yet when that
earthquake struck,

and that veil was ripped between

from top to bottom,

escaped and got away,

and Caiaphas
went inside the temple

and he saw the veil

and he was able to appear

and look into the
Most Holy Place of

which he wasn't able to be,

he wasn't supposed
to be able to do that

most compassionate rebuke

this, He said in verse 42,

read in the scriptures?"

Now, I don't believe that Jesus
was sarcastic in a carnal way.

of spiritual sarcasm here.

has a sense of humor.

Jesus after leaving the temple,
He wakes up the next morning,

and He's hungry, and
He goes to a fig tree,

and there's no fruit on it.

says to that fig tree?

He rebukes that fig tree.

And He says, "Let no more fruit

That was some imagery

pointing forward to the results
of what would happen in Israel.

fig tree was Israel.

Because at this point,

they had had over 1400 years

to accept the God
who had called them.

that, go read the parable

of the vinedresser
in Matthew Chapter 21.

What does it say in the
parable of the vinedresser?

Jesus says, it was a
vinedresser he built it,

bring forth the fruit

were taking

one, they murdered one

and they just killed them all.

And so then the father
says, oh, well, surely, surely,

they'll receive my next servant.

So he sends a
next wave of servants.

They murdered all of them.

And so finally, third and
all, He says, I'll send My Son,

surely they'll receive My Son.

And what do they do?

says in that parable,

parable was a rebuke

it was a judgment,
judgment that was declared

upon the nation
of Israel that day.

Surely they receive My Son,

but it says
when He sent His Son,

they took Him
outside of the vineyard,

and they murdered Him.

But God still had compassion,

even after they
murdered His Son.

Three and a half
years later, a young man

by the name of Steven is
preaching in the streets.
