as we look around in the world

hurricanes, and earth quakes,

it's just been unbelievable.

You know, it reminded me

of what Jesus told the disciples

back in Matthew 24.

I want to read a little
bit of that for you today.

Matthew 24,
starting with verse 4.
00:01:46.90\00:01:50.61
It reads, "And Jesus
answered and said unto them,
00:01:50.64\00:01:54.08
'Take heed that
no one deceive you.'"

You see, brothers and sisters,
Christ wants us to be aware,

there will be
spiritual deception
00:01:59.75\00:02:02.22
in these last days.

Reading on in verse 5, it says,

"For many shall come in My name,

saying, 'I am the
Christ,' and shall deceive many.

And you shall hear of
wars and rumors of wars.

things must come to pass,

but the end is not yet.

families that are broken,

without power for months.

And their hearts are sorrowful,
they're looking for an answer.

happening in the world.

hundreds and thousands,

tens of thousands
are suffering right now.

And so we know
God's Word has an answer.

So we're gonna get into
that because every one of us,

will go through
some kind of sorrow,

prowling about the house

picked up a dust covered Bible.

He said, "Mother!"

She said, "Yes, son."

"Is this God's book?"

She said, "Well, yes, son.

This is God's
book, of course it is."

She said, "My, my!

You know, I thought
maybe you knew that."

Well, he said, "I did know that.

But I thought I would just ask

because it has
all this dust on it."

And she said, "Yes,
it's God's book, son."

And the boy said,

"Well, I think we might
as well send it back to Him

'cause we don't use it."

It's an interesting thought.

God has given us His
Word that we can go through.

Let's not let dust gather on it

'cause this is where
our help is coming from.

This is what we need to do
is get into the Word of God,

want to send it back,

something is
going on in the world.

little bit about it

as our subject is
the healing of sorrow

the condition of the world is.

If I would ask you,
"What's your attitude

towards what's going
on in the world today?"

I'm sure many of us would
give somewhat the same answer.

There's a lot of things
that are going on in the world
00:09:49.08\00:09:51.59
that indicate the soon coming
of Jesus, we understand that.

And so it tells
us He's coming soon
00:09:55.52\00:09:57.09
in the clouds of
glory because we're looking,
00:09:57.13\00:09:59.59
and I'm gonna tell you,
00:09:59.63\00:10:00.96
this is going on in
this part of the world,
00:10:01.00\00:10:02.33
something else is
going on in other part,
00:10:02.36\00:10:04.03
and in other part
but the Bible tells us
00:10:04.07\00:10:06.00
all these things will be
happening and taking place
00:10:06.03\00:10:08.77
before the coming of Jesus

and that indicates our
subject which is, what?

Some sorrow is
going to be in the land.

Every one of us here
00:10:15.98\00:10:17.51
or at least the
sound of my voice
00:10:17.55\00:10:18.98
and who'll be viewing,
somehow if you're old enough,
00:10:19.01\00:10:22.55
there's been some things
00:10:22.58\00:10:23.92
that has caused you
some sorrow in life.

And it can go from a
lot of different directions

and hopefully,
by the grace of God,

we'll talk more about those.

But isn't it thrilling

to live in this
hour of earth's history?

To me, it's
thrilling to live here

because you know,
we're living in...

Our eyes should be opened,
our ears should be opened,
00:10:39.93\00:10:42.97
and we should be
looking up, you know,
00:10:43.00\00:10:45.37
because these are
signs that Jesus is coming,

our God is going to come.
00:10:47.84\00:10:49.41
We should be the
happiest people on this planet.
00:10:49.44\00:10:53.58
We should be, listen,
00:10:53.62\00:10:54.95
the holiest
people on this planet.
00:10:54.98\00:10:57.95
Think about that,
happiest and holiest people.

And all this
outlook in the world today,

we always say,
"This is the outlook,
00:11:03.73\00:11:05.06
this is what's
going on in the world."
00:11:05.09\00:11:06.73
But I'm encouraging you,
as you look, you're gonna say,

"I'm looking out in
the world, it looks dark."
00:11:09.33\00:11:11.77
But God is saying that
we need to have the up-look
00:11:11.80\00:11:14.60
of what's going on
because the up-look is bright.

Really our future is bright.

Even though we look and say,

"Oh, there's lot
of things going on."

It's very bright.

If we know Jesus,
and if we love Jesus

with all of our heart,
and we're feeding on His Word,

every day we're
spending time with God.

Jeremiah said it like
this in Jeremiah 15:16,

notice as Bible
says, Jeremiah said,

"Thy words were found."

You remember?

Jeremiah said,
"Thy words were found,

and I did eat them.

Thy word was unto me the
joy and rejoicing in my heart."

So think about this as we study.

The sorrow, but
Jeremiah found something,

and in his sorrow, he
found that, he took them,

he ate the Word of God and what?

There was
rejoicing in his heart.

A little girl asked
her mother, worried mother,

asked her mother and
said, "Mother, are you happy?"

You know, to
have a little child,

usually you ask...

Mother asked
the child, you know,

"Are you happy,
honey, or son, daughter?

Are you happy?

Well, if you're not,
why aren't you happy?"

The little girl looked up
and said, "Mom, are you happy?"

You've heard the
story many times,

at least the line
of it, are you happy?

"Oh," she sighed, said,
"Oh, yes, honey, I'm happy."

Well, you know,
that didn't quite

went over the little girl.

And she said, "Well, mother,

you haven't told
your face about it yet."

That makes sense, doesn't it?

If we're happy,
it's going to, what?

something that comes across

The little girl
could read mother.

We need to be
ready for this hour

in which we live
that Jesus is coming.

So as we're talking
about it, this world,

I know that we live in a
world that's full of sorrow.

Disappointment, anyone here
went through disappointment?

Oh, you better believe it.

And you know, sadness,
grieve, you name it, regret,

we have all these
things that we're dealing with

and trying to deal.

And I found that some people

can deal much
better than other people.

Some people go way
off this side to the left,

and some go to the right.

Some stay pretty well-centered,

and how do those
folks who stay centered,

how do they stay centered

when they have a lot of regrets,

when they're
sorry for lot of things

that's happened in
their heart and in their life?

Sorrow is something that
the dictionary talks about.

It says, "It's a
mental suffering."
00:13:39.95\00:13:43.49
Sorrow causes mental suffering
00:13:43.52\00:13:46.29
and it's usually caused
by loss, loss of something.
00:13:46.32\00:13:51.63
It could be money to people,
00:13:51.66\00:13:53.43
and it could be the
death of loved ones,
00:13:53.46\00:13:55.76
it could be a lot of things
but it has to do with the mind
00:13:55.80\00:14:00.04
and how the mind accepts
and approaches this issue.

Think about it with me.

A time of sorrow, notice this,

that we have that affects
our emotions, it affects us.

Something hits us in
life, a disaster or sorrow,

and then somehow it can
change our lives, our direction

if we're not careful
or we can stay steadfast

as it were in the Word of God.

Many people, you realize this,

many people die
from experiencing

or going through sorrow.

You know some people, don't you?

They have died
00:14:33.57\00:14:34.90
because they've
went through sorrow.

You see it
sometime in people's lives

who have lost loved ones.

The husband might
die and a month later,

the wife dies, you know,

and that's not
always necessarily

the way it goes for
everybody because again,

some have the way of adjusting,

they found help
in the Word of God,

they found encouragement
somewhere else, you see.

But we realize here
that this sorrow here,

it's going to affect
00:15:01.40\00:15:02.73
all of our lives
somehow, someway.

And some people,

when they're
affected with sorrow,

they shut themselves in.

They basically go into a
room, and they shut the door,

and they don't want to come out,

they don't want to be involved
in anything that's going on.

They don't want to eat sometime,
00:15:18.48\00:15:22.35
they don't want
to drink, you know.
00:15:22.38\00:15:24.49
They just give up on life,
00:15:24.52\00:15:26.72
they say it's not
worth living anymore

because they're suffering inside
00:15:29.46\00:15:31.56
and it's
affecting them emotionally.

As I mentioned to begin with,

all of us is going to be
subject to that in some form

or fashion as we
live in this world.

We're not gonna
go through this world

without some level of
this thing called sorrow.

Tragedy strikes, and sometime
it strikes multiple times

in the same family at a
very, maybe, quick time.

But my question would
go today is, what do we,

as God's children,
do when tragedy strikes.

Again, everyone
handles it differently
00:16:03.46\00:16:05.69
but God's Word does
have something to say on it.

And if we focus on God's
Word, maybe we would handle it,

maybe somewhat little closer,
you know, every one of us alike

rather than so
many different ways.

Here's one way I
found in the Word of God.

Now in Matthew
Chapter 14, you know,

we'll look at
something very interesting.

Here's the story
about the execution of John.
